ABOUT THIS EPISODE
Jesus’ told His disciples, “I tell you the truth, anyone who believes in me will do the same works I have done, and even greater works, because I am going to be with the Father” (John 14:12 NLT). May I suggest that the Church—the universal body of blood washed, born again, and Holy Spirit empowered believers—collectively has done even greater works than Jesus did during His brief earthly ministry. Collectively the church has reached more people, healed more people, even raised more people from the dead than Jesus did alone.
“The apostles performed many signs and wonders among the people…”
— Acts 5:12 (NIV)
Lord Jesus, empower Your church to do the works that You did that our broken world might be healed. In Your holy name I pray. Amen.

An all-consuming spiritual passion seized Elisha as soon as Elijah the prophet placed his mantle on him. He left his oxen and ran after him. He said, “As surely as the Lord lives and as you live, I will not leave you” (2 Kings 2:2). When Elijah’s earthly ministry was coming to an end he said to Eli…
One of the first miracles Elisha performed was to purify a town’s water supply. According to the townspeople the water was bad causing women to miscarry and the land to be unproductive. It was good for nothing. “Bring me a new bowl,” he said, “and put salt in it.” So they brought it to him. Then he…
Elijah performed seven miracles during his life. Elisha performed thirteen. Both divided the Jordon River and they each raised a dead child to life. The last miracle credited to Elisha was the most unusual. 2 Kings 13 says, “Elisha died and was buried…Once while some Israelites were burying a man…t…
