ABOUT THIS EPISODE
One of the first miracles Elisha performed was to purify a town’s water supply. According to the townspeople the water was bad causing women to miscarry and the land to be unproductive. It was good for nothing. “Bring me a new bowl,” he said, “and put salt in it.” So they brought it to him. Then he went out to the spring and threw the salt into it, saying, “This is what the Lord says: ‘I have healed this water. Never again will it cause death or make the land unproductive’” (2 Kings 2:20-21).
“This is what the LORD says: I have purified this water. It will no longer cause death or infertility.”
— 2 Kings 2:21 (NLT)

I am amazed at His patience and His persistence, but I am thankful too! I am thankful that He is a very present help in the time of trouble and that He hears me w…
Knowing how headstrong I can be, I’ve developed a daily habit of laying all of my hopes, dreams, ambitions, and desires at the foot of the Cross. I give them to God while praying, “Lord Jesus, I give You permission to change my desires, to superimpose Your will on mine. Now guide me through my surr…
Although the crucifixion of Jesus appears to be a tragic miscarriage of justice, it was not. He was not a helpless victim, but a willing sacrifice. He chose to die so we could live. He endured the shame of the cross so that we do not have to bear the shame of our sin. He was made to be sin for us s…
After their children are grown and gone, many a parent realizes that for all of their good intentions, they have handicapped the children they love more than life. They have damaged them, not out of cruelty but out of kindness. By giving their children all they could ever need or want, they have de…
