The Creative Life is a podcast about navigating the rewards, challenges, setbacks, and unexpected turns that come with following your creative path.

Hosted by television director and producer Dave Semel, alongside his brothers Drew Semel, a photographer and teacher, and Mitch Semel, a media executive and flight instructor — with artist and producer Bennett Barbakow — the show features candid conversations with creators across film, television, music, fashion, food, entrepreneurship, and beyond.

Together, they explore what inspires people to begin, what sustains them through uncertainty, and how creative lives evolve over time. From breakthrough moments to quiet doubts, from reinvention to resilience, these conversations offer an honest look at the creative process — both personal and professional.

Whether you’re just starting out or are deep into your journey. The Creative Life offers perspective, encouragement, practical insight, and a few laughs along the way.
