OM DETTA AVSNITT
In this episode of the Disruptive Dental Science Podcast, host Dr. Ashton Prince speaks with Dr. Charlie Ward and Dr. Chris Mazzola about improving efficiency in dental practice through basics, repeatable systems, and data-driven decision-making rather than “feelings.” Mazzola explains how systems create staff accountability without becoming overly rigid, and outlines meeting cadences (daily huddles, weekly two-hour meetings, and quarterly full-day growth days) used to review and update protocols stored in Google Drive. He describes tracking KPIs using Dental Intelligence, including perio percentage, fluoride utilization, hygiene reappointment, patient attrition within 18 months, new patients, and recapture, emphasizing separating true trends from one-off events. Ward adds that systems must be fluid, include regular assessment, and even apply to clinical debriefs after complex procedures to drive consistent excellence. They advise new dentists to gain chairside experience and choose continuing education based on real clinical needs, including discussion of Pankey, Spear, Kois, and TMD and esthetic challenges.
