Rod Wave is preparing for one of the biggest transitions of his career.
With his seventh studio album Don’t Look Down scheduled for release on August 28, 2026, Rod Wave is set to fulfill the final project on his current deal and enter a new era as an independent artist. We break down how he quietly built the infrastructure to make that possible, including launching his own touring company and taking control of his merchandise business. The results are staggering: what reportedly generated around $200,000 annually under traditional arrangements now brings in roughly $20 million per year through his independent operation.
We also dive into the reported sale of 50% of Drake’s OVO brand to Authentic Brands Group. While the deal has not been officially finalized, reports suggest the transaction values the stake at roughly $50 million. We explain why Authentic Brands Group has become one of the most powerful licensing companies in the world and how this move could allow Drake to scale OVO globally while becoming far more hands-off in the day-to-day business.
Next, we discuss one of the most fascinating stories from the NBA Finals. Josh Hart took possession of the historic Game 4 game ball following the largest comeback in Finals history, only for the NBA to reclaim it due to league agreements surrounding historic memorabilia. That leads into a larger conversation about ownership of iconic sports moments, including the Olympic gold-medal-winning hockey jersey that was preserved rather than returned to the player who wore it. With some of these items valued in the millions, we debate whether preserving them for fans and collectors ultimately benefits the hobby more than individual ownership.
Finally, we break down comments from Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick regarding GTA 6. Zelnick addressed several rumors surrounding the game, discussed the company’s approach to artificial intelligence, and revealed why this is the most nervous he’s ever been ahead of a launch. With unprecedented expectations and years of anticipation, GTA 6 may become the most important entertainment release of the decade.
