ABOUT THIS EPISODE
We have not been given the spirit of fear, nevertheless there will be times when the Holy Spirit will use a sense of danger to warn us. It usually comes as a check in our spirit, or through the counsel of a friend. 2 Kings 6:10 says, “Time and again Elisha warned the king, so that he was on his guard” (2 Kings 6:10). To disregard these promptings of the Holy Spirit is to put yourself in jeopardy. There are other times when we recognize the danger but feel compelled to go ahead with our mission. In those instances, God will give us the courage and the strength to do what we have been called to do.
“I only know that in every city the Holy Spirit warns me that prison and hardships are facing me. However, I consider my life worth nothing to me, if only I may finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given me—the task of testifying to the gospel of God’s grace.”
— Acts 20:23-24 (NIV)
Lord Jesus, make me sensitive to the promptings of Your Holy Spirit. Help me to know when to avoid danger and when to risk it in order to accomplish Your purpose. In Your holy name I pray. Amen.
