ABOUT THIS EPISODE
Stagnant careers shouldn't happen to good people. But they do.
You're doing the work. You're hitting the targets. You're the one everyone relies on. And somehow, the promotion goes to someone else. The meeting moves on before you finish your thought. Your ideas get repeated back to you five minutes later — and suddenly they're brilliant.
Most people assume that's a confidence problem. Aletta Rochat says the real issue runs deeper than that. It's not about how confident you feel. It's about how you're perceived. It's about the specific communication habits that determine whether you're taken seriously or passed over.
Aletta is an Executive Presence Coach, a global speaker, and a Past International President of Toastmasters International. She's delivered training and coaching across more than 20 countries, and she's the author of Speak, Connect, Succeed: Build Your Reputation As You Speak.
In this episode of The Honest Mic, Aletta talks about why doing good work isn't always enough to be recognised for it, the subtle habits that quietly undermine credibility, and what it actually looks like to start taking up space before the promotion, before the title, before anyone gives you permission.
If you know you're ready for the next level but haven't been given permission yet, this conversation is for you.
