ABOUT THIS EPISODE
Dr. Toth explains why building confidence in mathematics starts long before standardized testing. He discusses the importance of creating strong foundational skills, encouraging productive struggle, expanding professional learning communities for math educators, and giving teachers the time and resources they need to improve instruction. Throughout the conversation, he emphasizes that meaningful growth comes from mastering the basics, supporting students through challenges, and helping teachers continuously refine their craft.
The episode also explores how artificial intelligence can become a valuable instructional partner when used responsibly. Rather than replacing teachers or critical thinking, Dr. Toth argues that AI should help students better understand concepts, visualize mathematical processes, and receive support when they need it most. He also shares how district leaders can evaluate new technologies, protect student data, and ensure that teachers remain at the center of every learning experience.
