ABOUT THIS PODCAST 🔗
Analyzing film is hard. Sure, talking about a whole ain't so bad, but what if you want to get into why it works, and how? How does the film use lighting? What effect does the editing have? What’s the soundtrack up to, and why? Try to focus on editing through a film you really, really love. How long did you last? 20 minutes? You're a better person than I.
So, I thought: What if I focused on a single scene? A scene — the right scene — could be a window onto the film as a whole.
Making the Scene will bring on a new guest for every episode, and that guest will come bearing one of their all-time favorite film scenes. The two of us will dive in and rip it apart, looking for the keys to how and why it works. We'll cover films from Butch Cassidy to Pacific Rim. From Blade Runner to the Professional. And all stops in between.
