ABOUT THIS EPISODE
South Carolina football is through its first week of 2026 fall camp, and Shane Beamer is starting to provide some real answers about the Gamecocks’ depth chart.
On today’s Locked On Gamecocks, Chris Marler breaks down everything we learned from Beamer after practice No. 4 — including why the first week being described as “businesslike and efficient” could say a lot about the mentality surrounding this South Carolina team.
The quarterback depth chart is also beginning to take shape. LaNorris Sellers is QB1, but Beamer made it clear that Cutter Woods has separated himself as the Gamecocks’ No. 2 quarterback. With 13 SEC teams needing a backup quarterback to start at least one game over the last two seasons, having confidence in Woods could be far more important than people realize.
We also dive into the latest debate surrounding Sellers. Where does he rank among SEC quarterbacks entering 2026? Can Kendal Briles unlock another level of his game? And what should Gamecock fans make of an anonymous SEC defensive coordinator questioning Sellers’ ability to process defenses?
Plus, the freshman hype continues in Columbia. Darius Gray and J’Zavien Currence continue to push for immediate playing time, while Noah Clark, Julian Walker, Kosci Barnes and Sequel Patterson are among the young Gamecocks generating buzz during fall camp.
Could South Carolina’s freshman class be ready to contribute much earlier than expected? And is Shane Beamer’s program carrying itself differently entering one of the biggest seasons of his tenure?
We break down all of that and more on today’s Locked On Gamecocks.
