ABOUT THIS EPISODE
Everyone has their own way of doing laundry.
Some separate white clothing from dark clothing.
Others carefully read the labels on every garment to determine whether it should be washed in cold water, warm water, or hot water, and what drying temperature it can handle.
In some countries, such as many parts of Europe, people have washing machines but no dryers, so clothes are air-dried.
Some remove their clothes while they're still warm to avoid ironing.
Others leave everything in the dryer and simply take out what they need each day.
There are many ways to do laundry, and each person has a system that works for them.
But recently, a few things caught my attention.
First, we separate clothing according to the needs of each piece.
We recognize that not everything should be treated the same way.
Second, we protect each garment from unnecessary damage.
We don't expose delicate fabrics to heat they weren't designed to handle.
We understand that different materials have different limits.
Third, once the washing is done, we continue caring for our clothes.
We dry them properly, fold them, hang them, or iron them because we want them to last.
We do all of this for dirty clothes.
For sweaty clothes.
For stained clothes.
So here's my question:
Why don't we care for ourselves with the same intentionality?
Why don't we pay closer attention to our own individual needs?
Why don't we consider the emotional heat we're exposing ourselves to?
Why don't we allow ourselves the time to recover after seasons of cleansing, stretching, or change?
We all have our own way of living life.
But caring for yourself isn't a luxury, it's a responsibility.
So today, I'm simply inviting you to pause, look at your own life with the same care you give your laundry, and ask yourself:
What do I need today?
Just a suggestion!
