À PROPOS DE CET ÉPISODE
What does it mean for a nation to “establish justice”?
In this message, we explore one of the Constitution’s founding purposes through the lens of Deuteronomy 16, Romans 13, and John 5 — discovering how earthly justice, biblical righteousness, and the saving work of Christ intersect.
As the United States marks 250 years, we look back to the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution not as sacred texts, but as documents shaped by people formed by Scripture. Their words open a door for Christians today to reflect on our calling as citizens of both an earthly nation and God’s eternal Kingdom.
In This Message You’ll Learn:
• Why “establish justice” is more than a political phrase — it’s a biblical mandate
• How God instructed Israel’s judges to act with righteousness and without partiality
• Why human justice always falls short, and how Scripture explains this reality
• How Romans 13 frames the role of government in restraining evil and preserving order
• Why Jesus, in John 5, is the perfect Judge who fulfills justice and gives mercy
• What it means to live as a Christian citizen today — seeking justice while resting in Christ’s finished work
Earthly justice matters. But it is never ultimate.
At the cross, justice and mercy meet, and Christ establishes a righteousness no human system can achieve. Our hope is not in political perfection, but in the Savior who judges rightly and saves completely.
This message is part of our Founding Words series, exploring how the founding documents of our nation can help Christians think faithfully, biblically, and missionally about citizenship today.
