8
00:00:24.679 --> 00:00:28.559
Hey, everyone, welcome to teck it Out. This is episode
9
00:00:28.719 --> 00:00:31.879
four twenty. There's probably a joke in there that my
10
00:00:32.240 --> 00:00:35.560
twenty something kids would giggle at. Hey, I'm super stoked
11
00:00:35.560 --> 00:00:39.759
that Norton has recently joined Visa to officially partner with
12
00:00:40.000 --> 00:00:42.920
tech it Out. Visa has been a long standing partner
13
00:00:42.960 --> 00:00:46.640
on this program and Norton just joined a month ago. Interestingly,
14
00:00:46.759 --> 00:00:50.439
both companies aim to protect you in slightly different ways,
15
00:00:50.640 --> 00:00:53.039
which I'll tell you more about shortly. I hope you're
16
00:00:53.039 --> 00:00:56.320
all doing great now that Hey, November is marching along.
17
00:00:56.439 --> 00:01:00.240
In fact, this hour, i'll share some discounted devices that
18
00:01:00.280 --> 00:01:02.679
I showed on TV this past week, some deals that
19
00:01:02.719 --> 00:01:05.599
you can pick up over Black Friday, November twenty eighth
20
00:01:05.640 --> 00:01:09.400
and Cyber Monday, December first, if not beforehand. One of
21
00:01:09.400 --> 00:01:13.359
those items is a game Just Dance twenty twenty six edition,
22
00:01:13.519 --> 00:01:15.959
which is up to forty percent off and available for
23
00:01:16.040 --> 00:01:19.200
multiple platforms, gets kids and kids at heart moving in
24
00:01:19.200 --> 00:01:21.000
front of the TV. And so we're going to start
25
00:01:21.000 --> 00:01:23.319
with tech it Out in a minute from now about
26
00:01:23.359 --> 00:01:26.400
that game. We'll touch base with the makers of Just
27
00:01:26.519 --> 00:01:29.079
Dance twenty twenty six. You be soft all the way
28
00:01:29.159 --> 00:01:32.239
from France as we'll hear what's new and newsworthy about
29
00:01:32.280 --> 00:01:35.560
the latest edition of the Just Dance franchise. Also on
30
00:01:35.599 --> 00:01:38.239
the program, and speaking of Black Friday deals, we're going
31
00:01:38.319 --> 00:01:41.200
to hear from Flip. This is a company that has
32
00:01:41.239 --> 00:01:44.159
a free app and website that can save you serious
33
00:01:44.159 --> 00:01:47.480
cash on your holiday purchases, but also on your weekly
34
00:01:47.560 --> 00:01:51.239
grocery shop. They aggregate all of those circulars, those paper
35
00:01:51.280 --> 00:01:53.480
ads that you get delivered to your home every week.
36
00:01:53.599 --> 00:01:56.000
We'll learn how flip works and what makes it different
37
00:01:56.040 --> 00:01:58.719
from other apps designed to save you money. That's going
38
00:01:58.760 --> 00:02:00.480
to be a little bit later on in the Tech
39
00:02:00.560 --> 00:02:03.239
It Out Show. Today, all of this and more on
40
00:02:03.319 --> 00:02:06.519
a new and pre holiday Tech it Out episode. All right,
41
00:02:06.680 --> 00:02:09.439
enough with my jobbring, let's officially kick off a new
42
00:02:09.439 --> 00:02:12.319
show with our first interview as we get our game
43
00:02:12.400 --> 00:02:16.560
on one of my favorite video game developers and publishers, you.
44
00:02:16.680 --> 00:02:19.360
Besoft has some new titles out this time of year,
45
00:02:19.560 --> 00:02:23.120
including Just Dance twenty twenty six edition, and also some
46
00:02:23.280 --> 00:02:26.520
sales on games this coming Black Friday later in November,
47
00:02:26.599 --> 00:02:28.599
which we're also going to hear about. We're joined on
48
00:02:28.599 --> 00:02:32.639
the line by Simon Shanu, associate producer on Just Dance
49
00:02:32.680 --> 00:02:34.919
twenty twenty six edition, on the line with us all
50
00:02:34.960 --> 00:02:37.560
the way from France. Welcome to the show, Simon, good
51
00:02:37.599 --> 00:02:38.120
to talk to you.
52
00:02:38.360 --> 00:02:39.520
Hello, nice to meet you.
53
00:02:39.680 --> 00:02:43.360
Bajor Salou. Before we talk about Just Dance twenty twenty
54
00:02:43.400 --> 00:02:46.840
six edition, the latest in the best selling franchise, please
55
00:02:46.840 --> 00:02:49.680
tell us a bit about Ubisoft Paris and some of
56
00:02:49.719 --> 00:02:52.960
the more notable games that has come out of that studio.
57
00:02:53.319 --> 00:02:56.840
Yeah, of course, first thing, thanks for having me, and
58
00:02:57.360 --> 00:03:00.840
what we can say about Ubisoft's rest is that it
59
00:03:01.039 --> 00:03:05.080
was created more than thirty five years ago. Some notable
60
00:03:05.120 --> 00:03:11.000
games we developed and we released the Ramann Games, Gostrican
61
00:03:11.199 --> 00:03:14.639
franchise for those who know its, and the Raving Rabbits
62
00:03:14.800 --> 00:03:18.680
franchise as well, and of course Just Dance. Be Soft
63
00:03:18.759 --> 00:03:23.000
Paris is the home of Just Dance since the beginning
64
00:03:23.039 --> 00:03:24.639
of the franchise.
65
00:03:24.479 --> 00:03:29.000
Really really impressive catalog of games. Congratulations, thank you. Let's
66
00:03:29.000 --> 00:03:31.400
talk Just Dance. So the series is more than a
67
00:03:31.439 --> 00:03:33.000
decade old, now, is that right?
68
00:03:33.120 --> 00:03:36.319
Definitely? Actually I think it's fifteen years old.
69
00:03:36.520 --> 00:03:36.840
Wow.
70
00:03:36.879 --> 00:03:38.039
Now the first one.
71
00:03:38.039 --> 00:03:39.919
And I was on a Nintendo Wii I think, and
72
00:03:39.960 --> 00:03:42.280
maybe Xbox Connect. Yeah, definitely.
73
00:03:42.319 --> 00:03:45.000
The first game was a Nintendo Wii and it went
74
00:03:45.199 --> 00:03:50.240
on most platforms. I would say Xbox with the Connect,
75
00:03:50.639 --> 00:03:52.479
PlayStation with the PlayStation move.
76
00:03:52.719 --> 00:03:55.240
Right, so all the cameras that can monitor your movement,
77
00:03:55.400 --> 00:03:57.800
or with the Wii it was holding the we controller.
78
00:03:57.960 --> 00:03:59.599
I mean, I think a lot of our listeners know
79
00:03:59.719 --> 00:04:02.719
this franchise, but why don't we start with the premise
80
00:04:02.800 --> 00:04:06.080
behind the game. It fuses music and dancing and gameplay
81
00:04:06.120 --> 00:04:06.680
all in one.
82
00:04:06.800 --> 00:04:11.960
Yeah, so Just Dance is your dance on demanded video game.
83
00:04:12.000 --> 00:04:14.800
I would say every year we are going to talk
84
00:04:14.840 --> 00:04:18.040
about Just Dance twenty six just after but every year
85
00:04:18.040 --> 00:04:21.759
we are trying to bring some new songs and choreographies
86
00:04:21.800 --> 00:04:23.639
with it, and the idea released to bring a lot
87
00:04:23.680 --> 00:04:27.839
of fun and end of things to tour players. We
88
00:04:27.920 --> 00:04:31.560
want to like group up with our friends and often
89
00:04:32.160 --> 00:04:34.839
while dancing on the best songs of the year.
90
00:04:35.240 --> 00:04:37.360
All right, So the idea is that you dance in
91
00:04:37.360 --> 00:04:40.759
front of your TV to many new and even classic
92
00:04:40.879 --> 00:04:44.560
songs covering multiple genres. And you can play just for fun,
93
00:04:44.759 --> 00:04:47.160
or you can also be competitive right with the people
94
00:04:47.160 --> 00:04:49.720
beside you or even over the internet, where you're competing
95
00:04:49.800 --> 00:04:51.959
for points based on how well you dance. You kind
96
00:04:51.959 --> 00:04:55.439
of mimic the dancers on screen exactly.
97
00:04:55.519 --> 00:04:58.879
And you got some choreographies which are for kids for
98
00:04:59.000 --> 00:05:02.519
the family, little bit easy going, but if you like,
99
00:05:02.800 --> 00:05:06.560
if you're like more experienced and engaged dancer, you can
100
00:05:06.600 --> 00:05:10.920
go with like really complicated choreographies as well and often,
101
00:05:11.000 --> 00:05:15.560
and the competes with your friends who are on the
102
00:05:15.600 --> 00:05:16.480
couch with you.
103
00:05:16.480 --> 00:05:18.160
You're actually not supposed to be on the couch and
104
00:05:18.199 --> 00:05:18.519
you play.
105
00:05:18.639 --> 00:05:21.120
You know, you're supposed to stand up and like to
106
00:05:21.879 --> 00:05:24.040
dance for real. We'll love you your whole body.
107
00:05:24.199 --> 00:05:26.519
I love the idea. Also, as a parent of three kids,
108
00:05:26.600 --> 00:05:28.639
I love the idea of getting them to move. So
109
00:05:29.040 --> 00:05:31.800
Just Dance twenty twenty six edition is now available for
110
00:05:31.959 --> 00:05:34.959
multiple platforms. Please tell us what's new at a high
111
00:05:35.000 --> 00:05:36.959
level here. So Just the twenty six.
112
00:05:37.079 --> 00:05:41.079
It's of course, the latest entrance of the series is
113
00:05:41.120 --> 00:05:46.279
available right now on Nintendo Switch PS five. It's Box
114
00:05:46.319 --> 00:05:51.959
Series six. It contains forty new exciting tracks to dance to.
115
00:05:52.519 --> 00:05:58.079
The tracks goes to charts topping tracks like apt by
116
00:05:58.199 --> 00:06:02.680
Rossi and Bruno, mass like Wodined by Juliba, but also
117
00:06:02.839 --> 00:06:07.040
some timeless classics I would say Hang Up from Madonna
118
00:06:07.160 --> 00:06:11.079
or All Stars by smash Mouth. The ideas there will
119
00:06:11.120 --> 00:06:15.399
be a song for everyone actually, and we come every
120
00:06:15.480 --> 00:06:18.600
year with a bunch of new maps, but we are
121
00:06:18.639 --> 00:06:22.199
also trying to bring some new content. The idea really
122
00:06:22.240 --> 00:06:25.959
is to say, okay, what can we bring, What can
123
00:06:25.959 --> 00:06:29.079
we bring that's new to the table for players. This
124
00:06:29.160 --> 00:06:34.240
is why this year we also added two new features
125
00:06:34.240 --> 00:06:37.959
to the game. The first one would be the Party Mood.
126
00:06:38.399 --> 00:06:42.600
It's a feature we develop with friends and families in mind.
127
00:06:43.439 --> 00:06:47.279
In this game mode, you are invited to meet the
128
00:06:47.360 --> 00:06:52.800
Doctor Gigabald, a character who we invented was a brilliant
129
00:06:52.800 --> 00:06:58.079
and goofy scientist and he tries to crack the dancing family.
130
00:06:58.160 --> 00:07:01.040
I believe he believes in his you can crack it.
131
00:07:01.839 --> 00:07:04.560
So the ideas you will step as a player in
132
00:07:04.600 --> 00:07:07.480
his laboratory with your friends and you'll be able to
133
00:07:07.519 --> 00:07:11.480
go through his schaotic and fun experiments on which would
134
00:07:11.519 --> 00:07:13.319
be challenged to maintain your focus.
135
00:07:13.439 --> 00:07:15.680
Can you tell me more about party mode? Simon?
136
00:07:15.879 --> 00:07:20.360
Absolutely, we wanted to create something special this year with
137
00:07:20.439 --> 00:07:23.639
this feature. The idea was to endreach this kind of
138
00:07:24.279 --> 00:07:28.040
special local gaming experience that is just dancing. And when
139
00:07:28.120 --> 00:07:32.079
you enter into the Doctor, the gabout laboratory that we created,
140
00:07:32.680 --> 00:07:38.199
you will face some unexpected twists and fun challenges. You
141
00:07:38.279 --> 00:07:42.079
will be asked to keep dancing in front of visual
142
00:07:42.120 --> 00:07:45.839
picture betters like a slime splashing on the screen from
143
00:07:45.839 --> 00:07:49.519
the strength machine, or never pop up that is blocking
144
00:07:49.560 --> 00:07:52.839
the view. And sometimes you will also be asked to
145
00:07:53.079 --> 00:07:56.800
stop dancing and follow the Doctor's instructions a little bit
146
00:07:56.879 --> 00:07:59.680
like Simon says, you could check your controller, you could
147
00:07:59.720 --> 00:08:03.160
be asked to clap your hands. And this is a
148
00:08:03.319 --> 00:08:07.759
very customizable experience. You can pick difficulty, you can pick
149
00:08:07.759 --> 00:08:11.800
a duration, which makes it great for family sasions with kids,
150
00:08:11.839 --> 00:08:15.759
but also for more experienced players who would want to
151
00:08:15.800 --> 00:08:18.600
try something a little bit more challenges. So this is
152
00:08:18.720 --> 00:08:21.800
a bit chaotick, a lot of fun, and to be honest,
153
00:08:21.839 --> 00:08:26.000
we are very excited for the players to try it.
154
00:08:26.560 --> 00:08:29.600
Love it so that the first feature and the second
155
00:08:29.600 --> 00:08:34.519
one is called the camera controller, and it allows solo
156
00:08:34.519 --> 00:08:38.360
players to turn their phone, their phone's camera into a
157
00:08:38.440 --> 00:08:43.360
full body motion scoring device and enjoy a hands free
158
00:08:43.519 --> 00:08:46.399
dancing experience. As you know, when you play Just Dance,
159
00:08:46.440 --> 00:08:49.240
you have to hold the controller, and the ID with
160
00:08:49.360 --> 00:08:53.600
this camera controller feature is you don't have to You
161
00:08:53.679 --> 00:08:56.879
dance with your full body without having anything in your hand.
162
00:08:57.360 --> 00:08:58.879
I love that. I'm going to ask you more about
163
00:08:58.919 --> 00:09:00.879
that in a moment, Simon. We're going to take a
164
00:09:00.919 --> 00:09:03.360
short break in a moment, and yes, back to Just
165
00:09:03.440 --> 00:09:06.120
Dance twenty twenty six, including the sales that they've got
166
00:09:06.279 --> 00:09:09.200
over Black Frauday and Cyber Monday, super fun game, the
167
00:09:09.279 --> 00:09:11.960
latest in the franchise. But first, as I mentioned off
168
00:09:12.000 --> 00:09:14.440
the top of the program that Visa has been a
169
00:09:14.480 --> 00:09:18.120
longtime partner on Tech It Out. We do cover cybersecurity
170
00:09:18.159 --> 00:09:20.039
a lot on this program and how you can best
171
00:09:20.080 --> 00:09:22.480
protect yourself from the digital age, even if you're not
172

00:09:35.440 --> 00:09:39.200
past five years, as much as ten billion dollars according
177
00:09:39.200 --> 00:09:42.159
to the company, to support Visa's brand promise to protect
178
00:09:42.200 --> 00:09:47.360
the financial information of both individuals and businesses. Zero liability
179
00:09:47.480 --> 00:09:49.960
means peace of mind when you shop online using your
180
00:09:50.039 --> 00:09:52.360
Visa card. There can be no half measures when it
181
00:09:52.399 --> 00:09:55.720
comes to cybersecurity, which is why the company takes an
182
00:09:55.759 --> 00:09:59.519
aggressive and multi layered approach to combating the rising threat
183
00:09:59.559 --> 00:10:04.159
of Mali software aka malware, and other threats by well
184
00:10:04.200 --> 00:10:08.320
funded and global criminal enterprises. Read more about Visa and
185
00:10:08.360 --> 00:10:11.759
how securing the world's payments is priority one at Visa

dot com slash security. That's Visa dot Com slash Security.
187
00:10:16.919 --> 00:10:20.159
After the interview with Ubisoft and we get to flip
188
00:10:20.200 --> 00:10:22.360
and I share some Black Friday deals, I'm also going
189
00:10:22.440 --> 00:10:25.320
to tell you about Norton and their approach to your
190
00:10:25.399 --> 00:10:28.600
personal protection in the digital age. If you want to
191
00:10:28.639 --> 00:10:31.120
reach out on social media with any tech questions you've
192
00:10:31.120 --> 00:10:33.879
got from me, be it tech support, or you've got
193
00:10:33.919 --> 00:10:37.080
any follow up questions on the Black Friday deals I'm
194
00:10:37.200 --> 00:10:39.679
chatting about this hour, or you want more info in
195
00:10:39.759 --> 00:10:41.960
any of my guests. I'll spell my name in a moment,
196
00:10:42.039 --> 00:10:46.039
but you can find me on x, Facebook, Instagram threads,
197
00:10:46.320 --> 00:10:50.519
Blue Sky, TikTok, YouTube and LinkedIn. I think that's enough.
198
00:10:50.559 --> 00:10:53.799
One that's like nine or something. So it's Mark Saltzman,
199
00:10:54.000 --> 00:10:58.639
mar C sa l t z m a n. Or
200
00:10:58.679 --> 00:11:01.399
as the announcer says through this show, Mark with the C,
201
00:11:01.759 --> 00:11:04.639
Saltzman with the Z, nice little ring to it. And yes,
202
00:11:04.679 --> 00:11:08.000
as a Canadian s A L t z m a
203
00:11:08.159 --> 00:11:11.240
n just doesn't have that rhyming thing. So again, yeah,
204
00:11:11.240 --> 00:11:13.039
I love to hear from you. Also, let me know
205
00:11:13.080 --> 00:11:15.039
how you're listening to check it out. Is it on
206
00:11:15.080 --> 00:11:17.840

207
00:11:17.840 --> 00:11:21.159
listening in from or if it's in podcast form? All right,
208
00:11:21.360 --> 00:11:23.600
more check it out coming right up after this.
209
00:11:24.200 --> 00:11:26.320
Listen to check it out whenever you want find the
210
00:11:26.360 --> 00:11:28.399
Check it Out podcast, did I too, or wherever you
211
00:11:28.440 --> 00:11:37.960
get your podcasts.
212
00:11:40.039 --> 00:11:42.879
Welcome back to check it out. We are chatting with
213
00:11:43.000 --> 00:11:46.559
Simon Shanu. He is global producer on the Just Dance
214
00:11:46.639 --> 00:11:49.759
series from ub Soft. We're chatting with him all the
215
00:11:49.799 --> 00:11:53.240
way from Paris, France. The game is available now for
216
00:11:53.480 --> 00:11:56.600
multiple platforms. We just heard, of course about new music,
217
00:11:56.639 --> 00:11:58.879
that's always something that we get every year with the
218
00:11:59.080 --> 00:12:02.039
Just Dance franchise, but also new modes. We heard about
219
00:12:02.120 --> 00:12:04.279
party mode, which sounds like a lot of fun. I
220
00:12:04.279 --> 00:12:07.360
did watch the animation of the scientist in a YouTube video.
221
00:12:07.559 --> 00:12:10.120
And now we're hearing about camera controller. So instead of
222
00:12:10.200 --> 00:12:14.039
having to hold the controller, but this leverages the camera
223
00:12:14.200 --> 00:12:17.080
on your smartphone so you can play hands free. So
224
00:12:17.279 --> 00:12:19.720
simon is the idea that you prop up your phone
225
00:12:19.720 --> 00:12:21.679
near the TV facing it towards you.
226
00:12:21.879 --> 00:12:25.879
Yeah, that's exactly its just have to download the Just
227
00:12:25.960 --> 00:12:30.120
Dance Controller application, which is available on iOS and adoid.
228
00:12:30.840 --> 00:12:35.279
The next step is placing your phone between yourself and
229
00:12:35.360 --> 00:12:39.639
the TV so the camerara can track your movements.
230
00:12:39.320 --> 00:12:40.039
As a player.
231
00:12:40.279 --> 00:12:43.639
And this is how you experience that this full body
232
00:12:43.720 --> 00:12:47.080
movement trucking. So it's a very exciting way to play
233
00:12:47.200 --> 00:12:49.919
Just Dance. We are releasing the feature in a final
234
00:12:50.039 --> 00:12:52.840
version for Just Dance twenty six, and I know the
235
00:12:52.879 --> 00:12:55.759
community is very excited about it, and I believe everyone
236
00:12:55.799 --> 00:13:00.440
who tries it understand why, understand why it fun. What's
237
00:13:00.440 --> 00:13:03.879
interesting is it's compatible with all the maps from Just
238
00:13:03.960 --> 00:13:07.919
Dance twenty six, but also with map from the previous
239
00:13:08.200 --> 00:13:09.240
entries of the series.
240
00:13:09.559 --> 00:13:11.919
When you say maps you mean the songs.
241
00:13:11.759 --> 00:13:13.240
I mean the songs exactly, all.
242
00:13:13.200 --> 00:13:14.679
Right, So I think that's great. Obviously you have to
243
00:13:14.720 --> 00:13:16.440
be on the same Wi Fi network with your phone
244
00:13:16.480 --> 00:13:18.120
as you are your video game system.
245
00:13:18.320 --> 00:13:22.159
Definitely, that's the way the smartphone connects to the to
246
00:13:22.200 --> 00:13:22.639
the console.
247
00:13:23.120 --> 00:13:25.480
Is it almost as accurate as holding a controller. It's
248
00:13:25.519 --> 00:13:27.440
a lot more convenient, for sure. Yeah.
249
00:13:27.480 --> 00:13:30.559
Actually I would say it's even more precise that with
250
00:13:30.639 --> 00:13:34.639
the that with the controller, the joy Gone or your
251
00:13:34.720 --> 00:13:38.600
phone in the end controller, because it tracks the whole body,
252
00:13:38.840 --> 00:13:41.000
so you really have to, like I don't know if
253
00:13:41.039 --> 00:13:44.600
you if you saw that, but sometimes when playing Just Dance,
254
00:13:44.840 --> 00:13:49.240
you have this like temptation to just move a little
255
00:13:49.240 --> 00:13:51.720
bit the end and you feel like it's covering, but
256
00:13:52.039 --> 00:13:54.639
you can't do that with the full bodies covering. This
257
00:13:54.799 --> 00:13:56.960
is really the more precise experience you can get, and
258
00:13:57.000 --> 00:13:59.960
you really have to like involve yourself with your football.
259
00:14:00.240 --> 00:14:03.320
So I think it's really fun to do it that way,
260
00:14:03.360 --> 00:14:06.000
and this is kind of the more complete experience you
261
00:14:06.039 --> 00:14:08.919
can have of dancing in Just Dance.
262
00:14:09.039 --> 00:14:10.919
Looking forward to trying that. That sounds great. And you
263
00:14:10.960 --> 00:14:13.559
said it also works with other versions, like previous versions
264
00:14:13.559 --> 00:14:14.159
of Just Dance.
265
00:14:14.480 --> 00:14:18.519
Yeah, it works with songs starting from Just Dance twenty
266
00:14:18.639 --> 00:14:22.039
twenty three, So it means if you already own previous
267
00:14:22.159 --> 00:14:23.440
Just Dance you can try it.
268
00:14:23.840 --> 00:14:26.759
Speaking of songs, can you add more songs to Just
269
00:14:26.840 --> 00:14:29.159
Dance twenty twenty six over time, like you know, with
270
00:14:29.240 --> 00:14:30.639
an end game purchase.
271
00:14:31.039 --> 00:14:34.600
Yeah, so we of course you're already own forty maps
272
00:14:34.639 --> 00:14:37.120
when you buy Just Dance twenty six, which is a lot.
273
00:14:37.320 --> 00:14:40.360
But you can also have access to more songs on
274
00:14:40.480 --> 00:14:44.840
your Just Dance by subscribing to the Just Dance Plus subscription.
275
00:14:45.720 --> 00:14:49.799
It's a subscription that grants you exclusive access to an
276
00:14:49.799 --> 00:14:55.399
everging catalog with hundreds of songs from the previous Just
277
00:14:55.519 --> 00:14:59.799
Dance installments, but also to new songs we are releasing
278
00:15:00.320 --> 00:15:01.840
ran there during the year.
279
00:15:02.080 --> 00:15:04.679
That's great. I like that option. And I also understand
280
00:15:04.679 --> 00:15:07.720
that there are some Black Friday deals on UB games,
281
00:15:07.720 --> 00:15:10.960
including Just Dance twenty twenty six editions, so some extra
282
00:15:11.039 --> 00:15:13.799
incentive to buy this by the end of November and
283
00:15:13.840 --> 00:15:17.120
then place it into a stocking for Christmas a month later.
284
00:15:17.519 --> 00:15:21.120
Yeah, absolutely, so Black Friday is like from November twenty
285
00:15:21.159 --> 00:15:25.159
to December first, I believe, and the Just Dance will
286
00:15:25.200 --> 00:15:31.120
be available at up to forty percent off. Wow, which
287
00:15:31.159 --> 00:15:35.320
makes it basically the perfect time to grab the latest
288
00:15:36.000 --> 00:15:39.480
edition and enjoy all the new content with the bartimode
289
00:15:39.720 --> 00:15:41.080
and the camera's going.
290
00:15:41.320 --> 00:15:44.559
That's significant, and I think there's also similar sales on
291
00:15:44.639 --> 00:15:47.440
other Ubisoft games like Star Wars, Outlaws and all that,
292
00:15:47.519 --> 00:15:49.960
So that's amazing. So Black Friday is technically the twenty
293
00:15:50.000 --> 00:15:52.720
eighth of November, but as Simon said, these deals start
294
00:15:52.840 --> 00:15:55.200
as early as the twentieth. Before I let you go, Simon,
295
00:15:55.240 --> 00:15:58.240
I understand that one of the other games in the series,
296
00:15:58.320 --> 00:16:01.360
called Just Dance Now has more than one hundred and
297
00:16:01.360 --> 00:16:05.759
thirty five million players worldwide, and LG just announced the
298
00:16:05.799 --> 00:16:08.799
partnership with this game. Can you tell us about it? Yeah?
299
00:16:08.799 --> 00:16:12.840
So Just Dance Now is running since about ten years.
300
00:16:13.440 --> 00:16:16.720
I think it a lots players to enjoy Just Dance
301
00:16:17.080 --> 00:16:22.480
everywhere basically using only a smartphone and an Internet connected
302
00:16:23.159 --> 00:16:27.080
second screen. It is led by our fantastic team at
303
00:16:27.519 --> 00:16:33.360
Ubisoft Pune, and of course we are very excited about
304
00:16:33.399 --> 00:16:37.080
this great partnership which is happening with LG, and I
305
00:16:37.120 --> 00:16:40.320
think it will bring Just Dance now to a lot
306
00:16:40.360 --> 00:16:44.679
of people who own an LGTV, so a lot of
307
00:16:44.759 --> 00:16:47.000
new players who are going to be able to try
308
00:16:47.159 --> 00:16:49.360
Just Dance starting next December.
309
00:16:49.799 --> 00:16:51.960
Yeah, that's great. So you don't need a console to
310
00:16:52.039 --> 00:16:55.120
play this version Just Dance Now, it's going to be
311
00:16:55.200 --> 00:16:58.120
baked into the TV and some other platforms internet based game.
312
00:16:58.320 --> 00:17:00.600
Love it. And then finally, Simon worked we learn more
313
00:17:00.639 --> 00:17:03.600
about Just Dance twenty twenty six edition, the forty new
314
00:17:03.679 --> 00:17:06.440
songs that are added, modes like party mode, and the
315
00:17:06.480 --> 00:17:09.200
new camera control feature. Is there a website you can recommend?
316
00:17:09.319 --> 00:17:13.119
You can see all of the infos on Just Dance Socials,
317
00:17:13.279 --> 00:17:16.759
but also the Just Dance website. You can just google
318
00:17:16.799 --> 00:17:19.799
it and I think you'll find it very quickly.
319
00:17:20.039 --> 00:17:21.920
So just go to Google and just type in Just
320
00:17:22.000 --> 00:17:25.279
Dance twenty twenty six. Awesome, Simon schnew great to chat
321
00:17:25.279 --> 00:17:27.400
with you. Congrats on the launch of Just Dance twenty
322
00:17:27.440 --> 00:17:30.720
twenty six edition. Very exciting. Thank you. After this short break,

00:17:30.720 --> 00:17:33.400

This is check it out to check it out.
341
00:18:34.599 --> 00:18:38.400
With technology columnist, author, and TV personality Mark Saltzman.
342
00:18:39.200 --> 00:18:42.480
Welcome back to teck it Out. As I mentioned earlier
343
00:18:42.559 --> 00:18:44.880
in the program, I had a lot of fun going
344
00:18:44.960 --> 00:18:49.279
on TV chatting about some Black Friday and Cyber Monday
345
00:18:49.519 --> 00:18:53.319
related deals and just generally some great gadget gift ideas
346
00:18:53.359 --> 00:18:56.240
and some game related ones too, whether you're shopping for
347
00:18:56.279 --> 00:18:58.160
a loved one on your gift list or you want
348
00:18:58.160 --> 00:19:00.440
to treat yourself to something that may be on sale
349
00:19:00.519 --> 00:19:02.960
later this month. Black Friday is the twenty eighth and
350
00:19:03.160 --> 00:19:06.359
Cyber Monday is the first of December, And why not,
351
00:19:06.720 --> 00:19:09.160
right if you can save money, and if you've had
352
00:19:09.319 --> 00:19:12.720
an eye on something for yourself, no judging, right, grab
353
00:19:12.759 --> 00:19:15.559
a couple things in the kart for your family and
354
00:19:15.640 --> 00:19:18.519
friends and maybe coworkers, and maybe one or two for
355
00:19:18.640 --> 00:19:21.319
yourself as well, even if you were more naughty than
356
00:19:21.440 --> 00:19:23.880
nice this year. And so I wanted to share with
357
00:19:23.920 --> 00:19:26.400
you the items I showed on TV. And if you
358
00:19:26.440 --> 00:19:27.880
do want to see them, by the way, just look
359
00:19:27.880 --> 00:19:29.519
me up on social media and you can see a
360
00:19:29.640 --> 00:19:33.039
video of this. It's Mark Saltzman, Mark with the c
361
00:19:33.559 --> 00:19:36.720
SA L t z M AN. You'll find me on
362
00:19:36.759 --> 00:19:39.359
all the major social media platforms out there. All right,
363
00:19:39.440 --> 00:19:42.960
let's start off on the next evolution in handheld gaming,
364
00:19:43.200 --> 00:19:48.079
a partnership between rog Republic of Gamers and Xbox. I'm
365
00:19:48.119 --> 00:19:52.880
referring to the rog Xbox Ally and the Rog ally X.
366
00:19:53.079 --> 00:19:57.039
These are handheld gaming systems that deliver a lot of
367
00:19:57.119 --> 00:19:59.680
power and a gorgeous screen. More on that in the moment,
368
00:20:00.000 --> 00:20:03.079
but it fuses the power and versatility of a Windows
369
00:20:03.119 --> 00:20:07.200
eleven PC with the simplicity and comfort of console gaming
370
00:20:07.400 --> 00:20:10.839
because you've got Xbox like controls on each side of
371
00:20:10.880 --> 00:20:14.960
the gorgeous seven inch screen. So perfect to play wherever
372
00:20:15.160 --> 00:20:18.160
life takes you because you've got the screen right on
373
00:20:18.279 --> 00:20:21.000
the device, but you can also dock it and play
374
00:20:21.000 --> 00:20:23.079
it on a big screen TV or monitor when you
375
00:20:23.160 --> 00:20:25.400
get home or in a hotel room or what have you.
376
00:20:25.440 --> 00:20:28.680
There's the white rog Ally, which is great for everyday
377
00:20:28.720 --> 00:20:32.640
and enthusiast gamers who want great value at five ninety nine.
378
00:20:32.839 --> 00:20:36.559
And then there's the rog xbox ally X in black
379
00:20:36.839 --> 00:20:39.599
for those who want the very best in performance and
380
00:20:39.799 --> 00:20:42.119
battery life and a few other bells and whistles at
381
00:20:42.359 --> 00:20:44.880
nine to ninety nine. And both of these are powered
382
00:20:44.920 --> 00:20:48.759
by AMD Rizin processors. Again, easy to pick up, hard
383
00:20:48.759 --> 00:20:50.880
to put down, it's a lot of fun. So that's
384
00:20:50.920 --> 00:20:54.400
the rog xbox ally series. Brand new to the market,
385
00:20:54.559 --> 00:20:58.960
highly anticipated, and they deliver the goods. Asus dot Com
386
00:20:59.039 --> 00:21:03.559
has more. That'sus dot Com. And speaking of the rog
387
00:21:03.839 --> 00:21:08.160
xbox ally series, what about storage to expand how many
388
00:21:08.200 --> 00:21:10.599
games you can hold on there without having to delete
389
00:21:10.640 --> 00:21:12.640
ones you still want to play right. That's always a
390
00:21:12.680 --> 00:21:16.880
pain point. While sand Disk, the leaders in flash storage,
391
00:21:17.000 --> 00:21:20.599
have sand Disc micro SD cards for the rog Xbox
392
00:21:20.720 --> 00:21:24.519
ally so these are officially licensed tiny little micro SD
393
00:21:24.599 --> 00:21:27.920
cards about the size of your pinky fingernail from sand
394
00:21:27.920 --> 00:21:31.119
Disk that are engineered with high read and write speeds
395
00:21:31.319 --> 00:21:35.000
so optimize for fast game installations and updates so you
396
00:21:35.000 --> 00:21:38.480
can spend less time loading and more time playing. Despite
397
00:21:38.519 --> 00:21:42.880
its teeny size, storage options are up to two terabytes
398
00:21:43.200 --> 00:21:46.440
that's about two thousand gigabytes, allowing you to hold up
399
00:21:46.519 --> 00:21:50.720
to fifty games. These cards are also shockproof, drawproof, and
400
00:21:51.000 --> 00:21:53.960
X ray proof, and back by a limited lifetime warranty.
401
00:21:54.160 --> 00:21:56.440
They start at sixty nine dollars, but you can find
402
00:21:56.440 --> 00:21:59.960
some sales over Black Friday and Cyber Monday at sand Disk.
403
00:22:00.920 --> 00:22:03.759
Next up, and speaking of gaming, there's also a huge
404
00:22:03.799 --> 00:22:06.480
sale on a pair of Ubisoft games leading up to
405
00:22:06.519 --> 00:22:09.519
Black Friday. There's an interview with the company playing this
406
00:22:09.680 --> 00:22:12.720
hour as well, but because there's also a Black Friday sale,
407
00:22:12.720 --> 00:22:15.160
I wanted to include them here too. Just Dance twenty
408
00:22:15.200 --> 00:22:18.400
twenty six edition is the hit holiday game for families
409
00:22:18.400 --> 00:22:21.839
and friends with forty new tracks to dance to, a
410
00:22:22.039 --> 00:22:25.200
new party mode with a fun and silly story with
411
00:22:25.359 --> 00:22:28.640
animated scenes to follow, along with a hands free camera
412
00:22:28.759 --> 00:22:32.359
controller option that uses your phone's camera if you don't
413
00:22:32.359 --> 00:22:35.519
want to hold the controller, and a bluey medley for
414
00:22:35.640 --> 00:22:38.839
fans of the hit TV show Just Dance twenty twenty
415
00:22:38.880 --> 00:22:42.559
six edition is twenty five bucks off, which is a
416
00:22:42.559 --> 00:22:46.119
great deal from November the twentieth to December third. There's
417
00:22:46.160 --> 00:22:48.880
also Star Wars Outlaws, which is one of my favorite
418
00:22:48.920 --> 00:22:51.400
games from last year, but now out for the Nintendo
419
00:22:51.480 --> 00:22:55.279
Switch and other platforms. It's an epic single player Star
420
00:22:55.319 --> 00:22:57.960
Wars game that's open ended. There's so much to do,
421
00:22:58.079 --> 00:23:00.759
and it's twenty bucks off the game. You should definitely
422
00:23:00.880 --> 00:23:03.200
check it out. So that's Star Wars Outlaws and Just
423
00:23:03.319 --> 00:23:07.240
Dance twenty twenty six edition. You'bisoft dot com has more
424
00:23:07.440 --> 00:23:11.559
all right? Moving on, how about a portable projector. Epsin
425
00:23:11.880 --> 00:23:15.359
just launched its life studio pop Plus. This is a
426
00:23:15.559 --> 00:23:20.000
portable projector with four K resolution and high brightness seven
427
00:23:20.079 --> 00:23:23.240
hundred lumens of color and white brightness, built in Google
428
00:23:23.319 --> 00:23:26.519
TV for streaming content, so you likely don't even need
429
00:23:26.559 --> 00:23:29.039
to connect anything to it, like a cable box or
430
00:23:29.079 --> 00:23:32.359
a Blu ray player or anything like that. And exceptional sound.
431
00:23:32.599 --> 00:23:36.079
Why because epsin has partnered with Bose to handle the
432
00:23:36.119 --> 00:23:39.880
audio from this Life Studio Pop Plus Projector. It's a partnership.
433
00:23:39.960 --> 00:23:43.799
The epsin Projection Studio app works with the projector and
434
00:23:43.920 --> 00:23:48.079
lets you and others create and share personalized videos directly
435
00:23:48.319 --> 00:23:51.079
on the one hundred and fifty inch image, whether you're
436
00:23:51.079 --> 00:23:54.440
indoors or outdoors in real time. It's really wild. So
437
00:23:54.559 --> 00:23:57.519
that's the app called epsin Projection Studio, which works with
438
00:23:57.559 --> 00:24:01.119
the Epsen Life Studio Pop Plus Projector. We're chatting about
439
00:24:01.200 --> 00:24:04.079
on sale for Black Friday down to seven ninety nine.
440
00:24:04.359 --> 00:24:07.680
Epsom dot com has more one more idea and then
441
00:24:07.759 --> 00:24:10.640
a tech tip to share with you. So LG is
442
00:24:10.680 --> 00:24:14.119
saying that you can save up to seventy percent on
443
00:24:14.279 --> 00:24:16.799
some of its products leading up to Black Friday and
444
00:24:16.880 --> 00:24:19.680
over that weekend Cyber Monday being the first of December.
445
00:24:19.839 --> 00:24:21.880
And they always have great sales on its O lead
446
00:24:22.000 --> 00:24:25.519
TVs as well, even though they haven't specifically said how
447
00:24:25.599 --> 00:24:28.720
much this particular model will be reduced. But I'm referring
448
00:24:28.759 --> 00:24:33.920
to the lgoled Evo AI C five four K smart TV.
449
00:24:34.200 --> 00:24:37.480
It's perfect for families looking to upgrade their television as
450
00:24:37.599 --> 00:24:40.759
the weather cools. It's in sizes from forty two all
451
00:24:40.759 --> 00:24:43.400
the way up to eighty three inches, so budget and
452
00:24:43.440 --> 00:24:48.240
wall size permitting. Those LGO lead TVs offer perfect blacks
453
00:24:48.240 --> 00:24:52.359
and vibrant colors, high brightness, wide viewing angles. They sip
454
00:24:52.440 --> 00:24:55.400
rather than gulp power, so they're easy on your monthly
455
00:24:55.640 --> 00:24:58.680
energy bills. But again it's that picture. It's not just
456
00:24:58.759 --> 00:25:02.240
four K, but perfect block because of the selflit pixels
457
00:25:02.359 --> 00:25:06.119
powered by the Alpha A nine AI processor Gen eight.
458
00:25:06.440 --> 00:25:09.039
And for gamers, I know we've been talking a lot
459
00:25:09.079 --> 00:25:11.680
about gaming in this segment. It has a one hundred
460
00:25:11.680 --> 00:25:14.160
and forty four HITZ refresh rate and a point one
461
00:25:14.279 --> 00:25:17.599
millisecond response times, so super fast for gaming to keep
462
00:25:17.680 --> 00:25:20.680
up those fast paced games like that Star Wars Outlaws
463
00:25:20.759 --> 00:25:23.599
or just answ twenty twenty six edition. Actually so great
464
00:25:23.640 --> 00:25:27.960
stuff from LG at LG dot com. And finally, before
465
00:25:27.960 --> 00:25:30.200
we wrap up, especially this time of year, it's easy
466
00:25:30.240 --> 00:25:32.599
to get caught up in the excitement of Black Friday
467
00:25:32.599 --> 00:25:35.920
and Cyber Monday, but RBC is reminding you to stay
468
00:25:35.960 --> 00:25:39.480
cautious when shopping online. Be wary of too good to
469
00:25:39.519 --> 00:25:42.680
be true deals and texts and emails with links or
470
00:25:42.759 --> 00:25:47.480
attachments that can lead to scams or malware malicious software.
471
00:25:47.720 --> 00:25:52.720
Rbc'sbcyberaware website at rbc dot com slash cyber has an
472
00:25:52.799 --> 00:25:56.319
article on great tips to protecting yourself, such as enabling
473
00:25:56.359 --> 00:25:59.240
two factor authentication where you not only need your password
474
00:25:59.279 --> 00:26:01.240
to log in, but one time code sent to your
475
00:26:01.240 --> 00:26:05.680
mobile phone and ensuring that the website has HTTPS as
476
00:26:05.720 --> 00:26:08.680
insecure or that little padlock in the web browser to
477
00:26:08.759 --> 00:26:12.400
confirm it's an encrypted connection. Again RBC dot com slash
478
00:26:12.440 --> 00:26:15.319
cyber for more. Speaking of holiday shopping, we're going to
479
00:26:15.359 --> 00:26:18.559
catch up with Flip when we return after this short break.
480
00:26:18.599 --> 00:26:19.440
Stay with us.
481
00:26:19.839 --> 00:26:23.799
Breaking down GeekSpeak into street speak. Check it Out hosted
482
00:26:23.839 --> 00:26:34.559
by Mark Saltzman.
483
00:26:36.599 --> 00:26:39.960
Welcome back everyone. You're listening to check it out if
484
00:26:40.000 --> 00:26:43.559
you're looking to save money while shopping this season, and hey,
485
00:26:43.559 --> 00:26:47.680
who isn't, especially this year with tariff related price hikes
486
00:26:47.720 --> 00:26:51.440
and inflation. One of my very few must have apps
487
00:26:51.519 --> 00:26:55.640
on your smartphone is called Flip. That's FLI DOUBLEP. Among
488
00:26:55.720 --> 00:26:58.599
other features, Flip shows you all the circulars that you
489
00:26:58.759 --> 00:27:01.599
get delivered to your home digitally, all in one place,
490
00:27:01.680 --> 00:27:04.160
all in one app, along with coupons so you can
491
00:27:04.200 --> 00:27:07.400
get the best possible deals at retailers that you already
492
00:27:07.400 --> 00:27:09.559
shop at. Joining us on the line for a Flip
493
00:27:09.599 --> 00:27:12.799
one oh one if you will, is Michael Silverman, CEO
494
00:27:13.039 --> 00:27:15.279
of Flip. Welcome back to the show. Michael, good to
495
00:27:15.319 --> 00:27:16.079
chat with you again.
496
00:27:16.359 --> 00:27:18.039
Yeah, thank you, Mark, very excited to be here.
497
00:27:18.240 --> 00:27:18.359
Mike.
498
00:27:18.480 --> 00:27:20.400
I gotta tell you I've been covering Flip since it
499
00:27:20.440 --> 00:27:24.319
was called with Shabby back I don't know, twelve years
500
00:27:24.319 --> 00:27:26.039
and ten twelve years ago. It was founded by we
501
00:27:26.240 --> 00:27:28.920
Hunts ten many many moons ago. It's been a privilege
502
00:27:28.920 --> 00:27:31.559
to also partner with the company many times before. And
503
00:27:31.640 --> 00:27:34.200
having you back on the show is awesome and perfect
504
00:27:34.279 --> 00:27:37.200
timing as we're heading into Black Friday. So with that
505
00:27:37.319 --> 00:27:39.599
in mind, at a high level, please tell us all
506
00:27:39.640 --> 00:27:41.279
about Flip and how it works.
507
00:27:41.720 --> 00:27:44.279
Sure, so, thank you for noting it at the top here.
508
00:27:44.319 --> 00:27:48.119
But Flip two Pie's is essentially like a free shopping
509
00:27:48.119 --> 00:27:51.079
app and website, and what we do is we aggregate
510
00:27:51.200 --> 00:27:54.920
all the circulars and deals from over two thousand retailers
511
00:27:55.000 --> 00:27:59.839
across North America with the purpose of effectively helping shopper
512
00:28:00.240 --> 00:28:03.519
plan and then save money. And you know, like at flip,
513
00:28:03.519 --> 00:28:06.680
our state and mission is to help people make smarter
514
00:28:06.759 --> 00:28:09.640
shopping decisions. And again you made the point before, but
515
00:28:09.960 --> 00:28:13.039
in a time where inflation is impacting people's wallets and
516
00:28:13.079 --> 00:28:16.119
people's budgets are getting tighter, this could not be more
517
00:28:16.160 --> 00:28:17.960
important for most households.
518
00:28:18.599 --> 00:28:20.640
And so if Flip's free to download.
519
00:28:20.480 --> 00:28:22.799
The app store the Google play Store, all you have
520
00:28:22.839 --> 00:28:24.880
to do is search for it, find it, download it.
521
00:28:25.079 --> 00:28:27.640
Ultimately you enter your zip code and then you have
522
00:28:27.720 --> 00:28:30.000
the ability to find all the latest deals near.
523
00:28:29.880 --> 00:28:32.839
You, and you can search by retailer, like if you
524
00:28:32.920 --> 00:28:34.920
know you have a certain I don't know supermarket down
525
00:28:34.960 --> 00:28:36.559
the street, I should mention it's not just for Black
526
00:28:36.599 --> 00:28:40.440
Friday for gifts, but for groceries and other household decor
527
00:28:40.799 --> 00:28:43.359
and things like that. You could either browse buy store,
528
00:28:43.880 --> 00:28:46.160
or you could do a search by keyword right, could
529
00:28:46.200 --> 00:28:49.440
type in air pods or chicken breasts or something right,
530
00:28:49.480 --> 00:28:52.160
and then you could see your closest retailers who has
531
00:28:52.160 --> 00:28:53.000
one on sale.
532
00:28:53.279 --> 00:28:54.640
Yeah, that's totally right.
533
00:28:54.759 --> 00:28:57.960
So, in addition to being able to like browse or
534
00:28:57.960 --> 00:29:01.440
peruse the retailers nearby. We also have a search feature,
535
00:29:01.480 --> 00:29:03.839
a pretty powerful one, and it's really great for the
536
00:29:03.839 --> 00:29:05.880
shoppers who know exactly what it is that they already
537
00:29:05.880 --> 00:29:08.160
want to buy, and so ahead of the holidays, if
538
00:29:08.200 --> 00:29:11.880
you're searching for big ticket items, TVs, vacuums, whatever it is,
539
00:29:12.200 --> 00:29:14.480
it's a pretty powerful tool. But it's also you know,
540
00:29:14.519 --> 00:29:16.640
like you touch on this just now, it's also great
541
00:29:16.759 --> 00:29:19.440
for comparing those day to day prices. The grocery is
542
00:29:19.440 --> 00:29:24.359
the household essentials, and for these holiday seasons, Thanksgiving, Christmas,
543
00:29:24.440 --> 00:29:27.799
or Hanukkah, whatever the holiday may be, having the ability
544
00:29:27.839 --> 00:29:31.240
to find those household essentials and groceries as you plan
545
00:29:31.359 --> 00:29:35.319
for family events is also an incredibly valuable tool. So
546
00:29:35.559 --> 00:29:37.960
if you see the deals, you have the ability then
547
00:29:38.000 --> 00:29:40.759
subsequently in the app to add them to a shopping list,
548
00:29:40.960 --> 00:29:42.680
and it, you know, sort of helps you stay organized.
549
00:29:42.759 --> 00:29:44.680
So with that in mind, let's say you've seen a
550
00:29:44.839 --> 00:29:47.359
I don't know, a butterball turkey, or you see a
551
00:29:47.359 --> 00:29:49.480
big screen TV that you've had your eye on. What
552
00:29:49.519 --> 00:29:51.400
do you do? You just tap it once and it
553
00:29:51.440 --> 00:29:52.920
adds it to your shopping list.
554
00:29:53.119 --> 00:29:56.200
Yeah, you can effectually it's the same terminology we used
555
00:29:56.200 --> 00:29:58.440
to use an analog, so we call it clipping. So
556
00:29:58.640 --> 00:30:01.319
if you find an item in a circular or through
557
00:30:01.359 --> 00:30:04.720
the search feature, can clip the item and then subsequently
558
00:30:04.839 --> 00:30:06.599
gets added automatically.
559
00:30:06.039 --> 00:30:06.799
To your shopping list.
560
00:30:06.880 --> 00:30:09.000
And here's a fun fact. If you press a hold
561
00:30:09.119 --> 00:30:11.680
on that item, you'll get more information like you can
562
00:30:11.799 --> 00:30:15.759
see like more details or specs if it is consumer electronics,
563
00:30:15.839 --> 00:30:18.279
maybe some reviews. It's all by pressing and holding, but
564
00:30:18.359 --> 00:30:21.200
a quick tap lets you, as you called it, quote unquote,
565
00:30:21.240 --> 00:30:24.000
clip it into your shopping list before you head out.
566
00:30:24.039 --> 00:30:27.160
And we should clarify that flip is more for retail
567
00:30:27.359 --> 00:30:29.960
shopping than it is for online shopping at this point.
568
00:30:30.759 --> 00:30:34.640
Yeah, that's a great distinction. I'd say it services both.
569
00:30:34.720 --> 00:30:37.039
So we have retailers that work with us, especially around
570
00:30:37.119 --> 00:30:41.160
Black Friday, to promote some of the amazing offers that they.
571
00:30:41.039 --> 00:30:44.079
Have that happen online. Yeah, and that happens year round.
572
00:30:44.119 --> 00:30:46.319
But you know, we know that you know most of
573
00:30:46.359 --> 00:30:49.119
your shopping, most of your staple shopping for the head
574
00:30:49.119 --> 00:30:51.799
of household shopper who's looking and is on a mission
575
00:30:51.839 --> 00:30:54.720
to feed their family, clothe their family, that it's those
576
00:30:54.920 --> 00:30:58.799
day to day items, those household essentials, those groceries that
577
00:30:58.839 --> 00:31:01.200
have such a large impact on their wallet. So that's
578
00:31:01.240 --> 00:31:04.599
where we do most of our damage trying to help shoppers,
579
00:31:04.920 --> 00:31:08.000
is we help them find those local savings near them
580
00:31:08.319 --> 00:31:08.880
in store.
581
00:31:09.079 --> 00:31:12.200
Going back to Black Friday though, because this is mid November,
582
00:31:12.240 --> 00:31:16.200
I believe that flip has a dedicated Black Friday section.
583
00:31:16.640 --> 00:31:18.720
Is that right? And is it fair to say, Michael
584
00:31:18.720 --> 00:31:20.759
that there's a lot of buzz this year leading into
585
00:31:20.920 --> 00:31:21.640
Black Friday?
586
00:31:22.000 --> 00:31:27.039
Yeah, I mean, savings oriented holidays are big. But we
587
00:31:27.119 --> 00:31:30.160
keep touching on this. It's an obvious theme, but a
588
00:31:30.200 --> 00:31:33.039
real and present one for most households. Budgets are tight,
589
00:31:33.240 --> 00:31:36.200
so this is a year where retailers are leaning in
590
00:31:36.319 --> 00:31:40.039
pretty heavily to their savings oriented promotions. And in addition
591
00:31:40.079 --> 00:31:42.160
to that, it's been a theme for over a decade
592
00:31:42.200 --> 00:31:44.680
now that these deals have a tendency to drop earlier
593
00:31:44.720 --> 00:31:46.839
and earlier each year. So you know, like when you
594
00:31:46.880 --> 00:31:49.240
think about it, that can be incredibly overwhelming to manage,
595
00:31:49.319 --> 00:31:52.000
especially over a large space of time. So we work
596
00:31:52.160 --> 00:31:55.119
pretty diligently to find ways inside of the tools that
597
00:31:55.119 --> 00:31:58.599
we offer shoppers to help them manage that chaos. And
598
00:31:58.599 --> 00:32:02.079
in fact you said it. We have created a dedicated
599
00:32:02.119 --> 00:32:06.000
Black Friday category to help you stay organized for the holidays.
600
00:32:06.160 --> 00:32:09.559
So, whether it's the Flip app or the website which
601
00:32:09.599 --> 00:32:14.400
is at simply flip dot com flipp dot com, there's
602
00:32:14.440 --> 00:32:16.519
like a carousel or what have you near the top
603
00:32:16.559 --> 00:32:19.039
where you can find specific Black Friday deals. And as
604
00:32:19.039 --> 00:32:21.119
you mentioned, and I'm glad you did that, you often
605
00:32:21.119 --> 00:32:23.519
don't have to wait. The retailers don't want to lose you.
606
00:32:23.680 --> 00:32:25.720
They want to make that sale, even if it's earlier,
607
00:32:25.880 --> 00:32:28.200
and so be on the lookout for great deals this
608
00:32:28.279 --> 00:32:30.480
year and Flip can certainly help there. We are chatting
609
00:32:30.480 --> 00:32:33.519
with Michael Silverman, chief executive officer at Flip. This is
610
00:32:33.599 --> 00:32:36.400
an app and a website that has been dedicated to
611
00:32:36.480 --> 00:32:39.599
saving you money. What about the Flips watch List. Let's
612
00:32:39.599 --> 00:32:41.440
say you've had something on your mind all year around,
613
00:32:41.440 --> 00:32:43.599
but you've been waiting for that price to drop.
614
00:32:43.720 --> 00:32:46.880
What a great tool, great ingenuity by our team. It
615
00:32:46.920 --> 00:32:49.599
acts as your personal deal tracker. If you're searching for
616
00:32:49.680 --> 00:32:51.920
something and you don't love the deals that you're finding
617
00:32:51.960 --> 00:32:54.039
on it at the moment, what you're allowed to do
618
00:32:54.279 --> 00:32:56.480
is add it to a watch list inside of the
619
00:32:56.519 --> 00:32:58.759
app and then Flip does all the work for you
620
00:32:58.880 --> 00:33:01.640
and essentially, like as you were going about your daily life,
621
00:33:01.680 --> 00:33:03.440
if there's something you wanted to keep an eye on,
622
00:33:03.519 --> 00:33:05.960
we'll send you a notification when deals do pop up.
623
00:33:06.279 --> 00:33:09.640
All right, awesome, More about this feature when we return
624
00:33:09.759 --> 00:33:11.559
with flip on Teck it out.
625
00:33:12.119 --> 00:33:15.480
Follow Mark Saltzman on Facebook, on Twitter, on Instagram. Listen
626
00:33:15.519 --> 00:33:32.839
to check it out whenever you want.
627
00:33:27.519 --> 00:33:31.359
A few more minutes With Flip's CEO, Michael Silverman, Flip
628
00:33:31.400 --> 00:33:34.759
is fli doublep and app and website that saves you money.
629
00:33:35.039 --> 00:33:37.680
Is there a way, Michael you can quantify how much
630
00:33:37.720 --> 00:33:40.519
people can save using Flip, whether it's for day to
631
00:33:40.599 --> 00:33:43.400
day groceries or bigger ticket items as gifts.
632
00:33:43.759 --> 00:33:46.519
Yeah, you know, it really does. Depend more you use it,
633
00:33:46.519 --> 00:33:47.200
the more you can say it.
634
00:33:47.240 --> 00:33:51.440
I would say that, and certainly we survey the shoppers regularly,
635
00:33:51.559 --> 00:33:54.279
and our average Flip user save somewhere in the neighborhood
636
00:33:54.279 --> 00:33:56.640
of twenty to twenty five percent per week. Oh well
637
00:33:56.720 --> 00:34:00.119
on your groceries, so it's very substantial, very meaningful saving
638
00:34:00.440 --> 00:34:03.680
on your regular purchases at the time of holidays, I mean,
639
00:34:03.720 --> 00:34:05.519
on any individual item. It could save you up to
640
00:34:05.519 --> 00:34:09.159
seventy percent. It really depends on what offer is being made.
641
00:34:09.239 --> 00:34:13.159
But we see ourselves as a utility that shoppers use
642
00:34:13.280 --> 00:34:15.880
on a regular basis, and for the shoppers that do
643
00:34:16.079 --> 00:34:19.480
use our app regularly, we have a pretty material impact
644
00:34:19.559 --> 00:34:19.960
on their wall.
645
00:34:20.079 --> 00:34:23.079
Yeah. I like that you're empowering users to make a decision.
646
00:34:23.239 --> 00:34:26.280
For example, if my wife, Kelly, who does the shopping
647
00:34:26.280 --> 00:34:28.880
in our home, if she sees something like, I don't know,
648
00:34:29.000 --> 00:34:32.039
cereal is on sale for a dollar off, if it's
649
00:34:32.159 --> 00:34:34.440
far away, it's not going to be worth her time
650
00:34:34.559 --> 00:34:36.760
or the gas money to go and get it. So
651
00:34:36.880 --> 00:34:39.320
but she can decide where she wants to hit, you know,
652
00:34:39.599 --> 00:34:41.719
and what order, what supermarkets she wants to go do
653
00:34:41.960 --> 00:34:43.679
kind of thing, and whether she should wait or not.
654
00:34:43.800 --> 00:34:46.199
But I like that you're giving us the information and
655
00:34:46.199 --> 00:34:48.639
then we can use it how we want at that
656
00:34:48.679 --> 00:34:51.000
point or not at all. And then before we wrap up,
657
00:34:51.000 --> 00:34:53.639
I wanted to ask you, Michael, about the ability to
658
00:34:53.760 --> 00:34:56.960
store loyalty cards or rewards cards inside the app. I
659
00:34:57.079 --> 00:34:59.280
use this all the time. I'm opening up Flip all
660
00:34:59.280 --> 00:35:01.280
the time when I'm surepping somewhere and I have like
661
00:35:01.320 --> 00:35:03.320
a points card or what have. You can you tell
662
00:35:03.360 --> 00:35:03.840
us about that.
663
00:35:04.039 --> 00:35:06.719
Yeah, another feature in our app that I love. I
664
00:35:06.760 --> 00:35:08.119
really think of our app.
665
00:35:07.920 --> 00:35:10.960
As sort of like a Swiss army knife for savings.
666
00:35:11.159 --> 00:35:14.000
And so in addition to the watch list we discuss
667
00:35:14.239 --> 00:35:17.599
or regular shopping lists or the ability to search, we
668
00:35:17.760 --> 00:35:21.800
also have effectively like your digital loyalty card wallet, so
669
00:35:21.840 --> 00:35:24.719
you can save some of your loyalty cards directly in
670
00:35:24.800 --> 00:35:27.480
the app to make it more convenient, you know, whether
671
00:35:27.519 --> 00:35:30.760
you're perusing or you're in store, to have the ability
672
00:35:30.760 --> 00:35:32.840
to sort of like leverage the app as one convenient
673
00:35:32.840 --> 00:35:34.639
app to manage your savings.
674
00:35:34.320 --> 00:35:36.320
Instead of carrying a pocket or a purse full of
675
00:35:36.360 --> 00:35:38.800
plastic cards that you need to pull out and the
676
00:35:38.880 --> 00:35:41.119
people behind you in line are getting irritated, and you
677
00:35:41.159 --> 00:35:42.840
just open up the Flip app and you tap the
678
00:35:43.039 --> 00:35:46.760
settings icon a little gear and then it's under something
679
00:35:46.840 --> 00:35:49.679
like my cards or something like that. So, yeah, super convenient.
680
00:35:49.840 --> 00:35:52.639
And then if there is a coupon, like for something
681
00:35:52.639 --> 00:35:55.519
that you could use at a store, like say Target
682
00:35:55.679 --> 00:35:58.639
or Walmart or Home Depot, Michael, how does that work
683
00:35:58.679 --> 00:35:59.599
within the Flip app?
684
00:35:59.760 --> 00:36:02.599
Yeah, you know, as an extension of those loyalty cards.
685
00:36:02.599 --> 00:36:05.639
We really primarily deal with digital coupons. So there was
686
00:36:05.679 --> 00:36:08.599
a point in time where print coupons were a very
687
00:36:08.599 --> 00:36:11.239
big thing, and we actually enabled that more frequently in
688
00:36:11.280 --> 00:36:15.239
the app. Now we're hyper digitally focused business, and so
689
00:36:15.320 --> 00:36:17.760
what happens is that the coupons that we do have
690
00:36:17.880 --> 00:36:21.760
available present themselves throughout the content, whether again, whether it's
691
00:36:21.760 --> 00:36:24.119
in search, you'll be able to see a little icon
692
00:36:24.159 --> 00:36:26.320
that shows you that there's a coupon available on the product,
693
00:36:26.639 --> 00:36:29.719
or if you're perusing the flyer, we actually have icons
694
00:36:29.800 --> 00:36:32.199
in the flyer embedded in the flyers to show you
695
00:36:32.239 --> 00:36:34.760
that there is a coupon available against that item that
696
00:36:34.800 --> 00:36:38.599
you can stack against the savings you're already generating that
697
00:36:38.639 --> 00:36:41.280
are available in store. But the way that it functions
698
00:36:41.320 --> 00:36:44.039
is that you have to clip the coupon inside of
699
00:36:44.079 --> 00:36:46.360
the app and add it to your loyalty card, so
700
00:36:46.400 --> 00:36:49.599
it's called load to ID savings, and many of the
701
00:36:49.639 --> 00:36:52.760
retailers across the US we have those tools available.
702
00:36:53.000 --> 00:36:56.039
Awesome. And then finally, how do we get going with flip?
703
00:36:56.079 --> 00:36:58.119
Do you recommend going to the app store if you're
704
00:36:58.159 --> 00:37:01.800
on iPhone or iPad or Google Play Store for Android devices,
705
00:37:01.880 --> 00:37:04.320
or do you think people should start at the website first.
706
00:37:04.400 --> 00:37:07.119
No, I you know, I'm more often than not suggest
707
00:37:07.199 --> 00:37:09.800
the apps. I think the apps are a really robust experience.
708
00:37:09.840 --> 00:37:12.719
The websites have parody in the features, but I really
709
00:37:12.800 --> 00:37:15.159
love the app experience. I think we are designed teams
710
00:37:15.199 --> 00:37:18.400
on an exceptional job of building a pretty straightforward and
711
00:37:18.480 --> 00:37:21.760
beautiful app to help you with what's otherwise a utility.
712
00:37:22.079 --> 00:37:24.960
So we have a very highly rated app. It's very present.
713
00:37:25.000 --> 00:37:27.800
Whether you're searching for other keywords like local deals, local
714
00:37:27.840 --> 00:37:30.239
savings will come up there as well. But if you
715
00:37:30.320 --> 00:37:33.000
show up on the app store the Google play Store
716
00:37:33.280 --> 00:37:36.199
and you type in flip, that's again Flip with two p's,
717
00:37:36.480 --> 00:37:38.440
you can download us and then you know, enter your
718
00:37:38.519 --> 00:37:39.679
zip code and you're good to go.
719
00:37:40.119 --> 00:37:42.360
All right, So, Michael, thank you so much for your time,
720
00:37:42.480 --> 00:37:44.639
especially this time of year. I know how swamp you

8
00:00:24.679 --> 00:00:28.559
Hey, everyone, welcome to teck it Out. This is episode
9
00:00:28.719 --> 00:00:31.879
four twenty. There's probably a joke in there that my
10
00:00:32.240 --> 00:00:35.560
twenty something kids would giggle at. Hey, I'm super stoked
11
00:00:35.560 --> 00:00:39.759
that Norton has recently joined Visa to officially partner with
12
00:00:40.000 --> 00:00:42.920
tech it Out. Visa has been a long standing partner
13
00:00:42.960 --> 00:00:46.640
on this program and Norton just joined a month ago. Interestingly,
14
00:00:46.759 --> 00:00:50.439
both companies aim to protect you in slightly different ways,
15
00:00:50.640 --> 00:00:53.039
which I'll tell you more about shortly. I hope you're
16
00:00:53.039 --> 00:00:56.320
all doing great now that Hey, November is marching along.
17
00:00:56.439 --> 00:01:00.240
In fact, this hour, i'll share some discounted devices that
18
00:01:00.280 --> 00:01:02.679
I showed on TV this past week, some deals that
19
00:01:02.719 --> 00:01:05.599
you can pick up over Black Friday, November twenty eighth
20
00:01:05.640 --> 00:01:09.400
and Cyber Monday, December first, if not beforehand. One of
21
00:01:09.400 --> 00:01:13.359
those items is a game Just Dance twenty twenty six edition,
22
00:01:13.519 --> 00:01:15.959
which is up to forty percent off and available for
23
00:01:16.040 --> 00:01:19.200
multiple platforms, gets kids and kids at heart moving in
24
00:01:19.200 --> 00:01:21.000
front of the TV. And so we're going to start
25
00:01:21.000 --> 00:01:23.319
with tech it Out in a minute from now about
26
00:01:23.359 --> 00:01:26.400
that game. We'll touch base with the makers of Just
27
00:01:26.519 --> 00:01:29.079
Dance twenty twenty six. You be soft all the way
28
00:01:29.159 --> 00:01:32.239
from France as we'll hear what's new and newsworthy about
29
00:01:32.280 --> 00:01:35.560
the latest edition of the Just Dance franchise. Also on
30
00:01:35.599 --> 00:01:38.239
the program, and speaking of Black Friday deals, we're going
31
00:01:38.319 --> 00:01:41.200
to hear from Flip. This is a company that has
32
00:01:41.239 --> 00:01:44.159
a free app and website that can save you serious
33
00:01:44.159 --> 00:01:47.480
cash on your holiday purchases, but also on your weekly
34
00:01:47.560 --> 00:01:51.239
grocery shop. They aggregate all of those circulars, those paper
35
00:01:51.280 --> 00:01:53.480
ads that you get delivered to your home every week.
36
00:01:53.599 --> 00:01:56.000
We'll learn how flip works and what makes it different
37
00:01:56.040 --> 00:01:58.719
from other apps designed to save you money. That's going
38
00:01:58.760 --> 00:02:00.480
to be a little bit later on in the Tech
39
00:02:00.560 --> 00:02:03.239
It Out Show. Today, all of this and more on
40
00:02:03.319 --> 00:02:06.519
a new and pre holiday Tech it Out episode. All right,
41
00:02:06.680 --> 00:02:09.439
enough with my jobbring, let's officially kick off a new
42
00:02:09.439 --> 00:02:12.319
show with our first interview as we get our game
43
00:02:12.400 --> 00:02:16.560
on one of my favorite video game developers and publishers, you.
44
00:02:16.680 --> 00:02:19.360
Besoft has some new titles out this time of year,
45
00:02:19.560 --> 00:02:23.120
including Just Dance twenty twenty six edition, and also some
46
00:02:23.280 --> 00:02:26.520
sales on games this coming Black Friday later in November,
47
00:02:26.599 --> 00:02:28.599
which we're also going to hear about. We're joined on
48
00:02:28.599 --> 00:02:32.639
the line by Simon Shanu, associate producer on Just Dance
49
00:02:32.680 --> 00:02:34.919
twenty twenty six edition, on the line with us all
50
00:02:34.960 --> 00:02:37.560
the way from France. Welcome to the show, Simon, good
51
00:02:37.599 --> 00:02:38.120
to talk to you.
52
00:02:38.360 --> 00:02:39.520
Hello, nice to meet you.
53
00:02:39.680 --> 00:02:43.360
Bajor Salou. Before we talk about Just Dance twenty twenty
54
00:02:43.400 --> 00:02:46.840
six edition, the latest in the best selling franchise, please
55
00:02:46.840 --> 00:02:49.680
tell us a bit about Ubisoft Paris and some of
56
00:02:49.719 --> 00:02:52.960
the more notable games that has come out of that studio.
57
00:02:53.319 --> 00:02:56.840
Yeah, of course, first thing, thanks for having me, and
58
00:02:57.360 --> 00:03:00.840
what we can say about Ubisoft's rest is that it
59
00:03:01.039 --> 00:03:05.080
was created more than thirty five years ago. Some notable
60
00:03:05.120 --> 00:03:11.000
games we developed and we released the Ramann Games, Gostrican
61
00:03:11.199 --> 00:03:14.639
franchise for those who know its, and the Raving Rabbits
62
00:03:14.800 --> 00:03:18.680
franchise as well, and of course Just Dance. Be Soft
63
00:03:18.759 --> 00:03:23.000
Paris is the home of Just Dance since the beginning
64
00:03:23.039 --> 00:03:24.639
of the franchise.
65
00:03:24.479 --> 00:03:29.000
Really really impressive catalog of games. Congratulations, thank you. Let's
66
00:03:29.000 --> 00:03:31.400
talk Just Dance. So the series is more than a
67
00:03:31.439 --> 00:03:33.000
decade old, now, is that right?
68
00:03:33.120 --> 00:03:36.319
Definitely? Actually I think it's fifteen years old.
69
00:03:36.520 --> 00:03:36.840
Wow.
70
00:03:36.879 --> 00:03:38.039
Now the first one.
71
00:03:38.039 --> 00:03:39.919
And I was on a Nintendo Wii I think, and
72
00:03:39.960 --> 00:03:42.280
maybe Xbox Connect. Yeah, definitely.
73
00:03:42.319 --> 00:03:45.000
The first game was a Nintendo Wii and it went
74
00:03:45.199 --> 00:03:50.240
on most platforms. I would say Xbox with the Connect,
75
00:03:50.639 --> 00:03:52.479
PlayStation with the PlayStation move.
76
00:03:52.719 --> 00:03:55.240
Right, so all the cameras that can monitor your movement,
77
00:03:55.400 --> 00:03:57.800
or with the Wii it was holding the we controller.
78
00:03:57.960 --> 00:03:59.599
I mean, I think a lot of our listeners know
79
00:03:59.719 --> 00:04:02.719
this franchise, but why don't we start with the premise
80
00:04:02.800 --> 00:04:06.080
behind the game. It fuses music and dancing and gameplay
81
00:04:06.120 --> 00:04:06.680
all in one.
82
00:04:06.800 --> 00:04:11.960
Yeah, so Just Dance is your dance on demanded video game.
83
00:04:12.000 --> 00:04:14.800
I would say every year we are going to talk
84
00:04:14.840 --> 00:04:18.040
about Just Dance twenty six just after but every year
85
00:04:18.040 --> 00:04:21.759
we are trying to bring some new songs and choreographies
86
00:04:21.800 --> 00:04:23.639
with it, and the idea released to bring a lot
87
00:04:23.680 --> 00:04:27.839
of fun and end of things to tour players. We
88
00:04:27.920 --> 00:04:31.560
want to like group up with our friends and often
89
00:04:32.160 --> 00:04:34.839
while dancing on the best songs of the year.
90
00:04:35.240 --> 00:04:37.360
All right, So the idea is that you dance in
91
00:04:37.360 --> 00:04:40.759
front of your TV to many new and even classic
92
00:04:40.879 --> 00:04:44.560
songs covering multiple genres. And you can play just for fun,
93
00:04:44.759 --> 00:04:47.160
or you can also be competitive right with the people
94
00:04:47.160 --> 00:04:49.720
beside you or even over the internet, where you're competing
95
00:04:49.800 --> 00:04:51.959
for points based on how well you dance. You kind
96
00:04:51.959 --> 00:04:55.439
of mimic the dancers on screen exactly.
97
00:04:55.519 --> 00:04:58.879
And you got some choreographies which are for kids for
98
00:04:59.000 --> 00:05:02.519
the family, little bit easy going, but if you like,
99
00:05:02.800 --> 00:05:06.560
if you're like more experienced and engaged dancer, you can
100
00:05:06.600 --> 00:05:10.920
go with like really complicated choreographies as well and often,
101
00:05:11.000 --> 00:05:15.560
and the competes with your friends who are on the
102
00:05:15.600 --> 00:05:16.480
couch with you.
103
00:05:16.480 --> 00:05:18.160
You're actually not supposed to be on the couch and
104
00:05:18.199 --> 00:05:18.519
you play.
105
00:05:18.639 --> 00:05:21.120
You know, you're supposed to stand up and like to
106
00:05:21.879 --> 00:05:24.040
dance for real. We'll love you your whole body.
107
00:05:24.199 --> 00:05:26.519
I love the idea. Also, as a parent of three kids,
108
00:05:26.600 --> 00:05:28.639
I love the idea of getting them to move. So
109
00:05:29.040 --> 00:05:31.800
Just Dance twenty twenty six edition is now available for
110
00:05:31.959 --> 00:05:34.959
multiple platforms. Please tell us what's new at a high
111
00:05:35.000 --> 00:05:36.959
level here. So Just the twenty six.
112
00:05:37.079 --> 00:05:41.079
It's of course, the latest entrance of the series is
113
00:05:41.120 --> 00:05:46.279
available right now on Nintendo Switch PS five. It's Box
114
00:05:46.319 --> 00:05:51.959
Series six. It contains forty new exciting tracks to dance to.
115
00:05:52.519 --> 00:05:58.079
The tracks goes to charts topping tracks like apt by
116
00:05:58.199 --> 00:06:02.680
Rossi and Bruno, mass like Wodined by Juliba, but also
117
00:06:02.839 --> 00:06:07.040
some timeless classics I would say Hang Up from Madonna
118
00:06:07.160 --> 00:06:11.079
or All Stars by smash Mouth. The ideas there will
119
00:06:11.120 --> 00:06:15.399
be a song for everyone actually, and we come every
120
00:06:15.480 --> 00:06:18.600
year with a bunch of new maps, but we are
121
00:06:18.639 --> 00:06:22.199
also trying to bring some new content. The idea really
122
00:06:22.240 --> 00:06:25.959
is to say, okay, what can we bring, What can
123
00:06:25.959 --> 00:06:29.079
we bring that's new to the table for players. This
124
00:06:29.160 --> 00:06:34.240
is why this year we also added two new features
125
00:06:34.240 --> 00:06:37.959
to the game. The first one would be the Party Mood.
126
00:06:38.399 --> 00:06:42.600
It's a feature we develop with friends and families in mind.
127
00:06:43.439 --> 00:06:47.279
In this game mode, you are invited to meet the
128
00:06:47.360 --> 00:06:52.800
Doctor Gigabald, a character who we invented was a brilliant
129
00:06:52.800 --> 00:06:58.079
and goofy scientist and he tries to crack the dancing family.
130
00:06:58.160 --> 00:07:01.040
I believe he believes in his you can crack it.
131
00:07:01.839 --> 00:07:04.560
So the ideas you will step as a player in
132
00:07:04.600 --> 00:07:07.480
his laboratory with your friends and you'll be able to
133
00:07:07.519 --> 00:07:11.480
go through his schaotic and fun experiments on which would
134
00:07:11.519 --> 00:07:13.319
be challenged to maintain your focus.
135
00:07:13.439 --> 00:07:15.680
Can you tell me more about party mode? Simon?
136
00:07:15.879 --> 00:07:20.360
Absolutely, we wanted to create something special this year with
137
00:07:20.439 --> 00:07:23.639
this feature. The idea was to endreach this kind of
138
00:07:24.279 --> 00:07:28.040
special local gaming experience that is just dancing. And when
139
00:07:28.120 --> 00:07:32.079
you enter into the Doctor, the gabout laboratory that we created,
140
00:07:32.680 --> 00:07:38.199
you will face some unexpected twists and fun challenges. You
141
00:07:38.279 --> 00:07:42.079
will be asked to keep dancing in front of visual
142
00:07:42.120 --> 00:07:45.839
picture betters like a slime splashing on the screen from
143
00:07:45.839 --> 00:07:49.519
the strength machine, or never pop up that is blocking
144
00:07:49.560 --> 00:07:52.839
the view. And sometimes you will also be asked to
145
00:07:53.079 --> 00:07:56.800
stop dancing and follow the Doctor's instructions a little bit
146
00:07:56.879 --> 00:07:59.680
like Simon says, you could check your controller, you could
147
00:07:59.720 --> 00:08:03.160
be asked to clap your hands. And this is a
148
00:08:03.319 --> 00:08:07.759
very customizable experience. You can pick difficulty, you can pick
149
00:08:07.759 --> 00:08:11.800
a duration, which makes it great for family sasions with kids,
150
00:08:11.839 --> 00:08:15.759
but also for more experienced players who would want to
151
00:08:15.800 --> 00:08:18.600
try something a little bit more challenges. So this is
152
00:08:18.720 --> 00:08:21.800
a bit chaotick, a lot of fun, and to be honest,
153
00:08:21.839 --> 00:08:26.000
we are very excited for the players to try it.
154
00:08:26.560 --> 00:08:29.600
Love it so that the first feature and the second
155
00:08:29.600 --> 00:08:34.519
one is called the camera controller, and it allows solo
156
00:08:34.519 --> 00:08:38.360
players to turn their phone, their phone's camera into a
157
00:08:38.440 --> 00:08:43.360
full body motion scoring device and enjoy a hands free
158
00:08:43.519 --> 00:08:46.399
dancing experience. As you know, when you play Just Dance,
159
00:08:46.440 --> 00:08:49.240
you have to hold the controller, and the ID with
160
00:08:49.360 --> 00:08:53.600
this camera controller feature is you don't have to You
161
00:08:53.679 --> 00:08:56.879
dance with your full body without having anything in your hand.
162
00:08:57.360 --> 00:08:58.879
I love that. I'm going to ask you more about
163
00:08:58.919 --> 00:09:00.879
that in a moment, Simon. We're going to take a
164
00:09:00.919 --> 00:09:03.360
short break in a moment, and yes, back to Just
165
00:09:03.440 --> 00:09:06.120
Dance twenty twenty six, including the sales that they've got
166
00:09:06.279 --> 00:09:09.200
over Black Frauday and Cyber Monday, super fun game, the
167
00:09:09.279 --> 00:09:11.960
latest in the franchise. But first, as I mentioned off
168
00:09:12.000 --> 00:09:14.440
the top of the program that Visa has been a
169
00:09:14.480 --> 00:09:18.120
longtime partner on Tech It Out. We do cover cybersecurity
170
00:09:18.159 --> 00:09:20.039
a lot on this program and how you can best
171
00:09:20.080 --> 00:09:22.480
protect yourself from the digital age, even if you're not
172
00:09:22.559 --> 00:09:25.559
super tech savvy. One part of the solution is securely
173
00:09:25.600 --> 00:09:28.639
shopping online, especially this time of year, right, and so
174
00:09:28.679 --> 00:09:31.720
I'm thrilled about my partnership with Visa on the program.
175
00:09:31.759 --> 00:09:35.399
They've made some major investments in fraud prevention over the
176
00:09:35.440 --> 00:09:39.200
past five years, as much as ten billion dollars according
177
00:09:39.200 --> 00:09:42.159
to the company, to support Visa's brand promise to protect
178
00:09:42.200 --> 00:09:47.360
the financial information of both individuals and businesses. Zero liability
179
00:09:47.480 --> 00:09:49.960
means peace of mind when you shop online using your
180
00:09:50.039 --> 00:09:52.360
Visa card. There can be no half measures when it
181
00:09:52.399 --> 00:09:55.720
comes to cybersecurity, which is why the company takes an
182
00:09:55.759 --> 00:09:59.519
aggressive and multi layered approach to combating the rising threat
183
00:09:59.559 --> 00:10:04.159
of Mali software aka malware, and other threats by well
184
00:10:04.200 --> 00:10:08.320
funded and global criminal enterprises. Read more about Visa and
185
00:10:08.360 --> 00:10:11.759
how securing the world's payments is priority one at Visa
186
00:10:11.879 --> 00:10:16.639
dot com slash security. That's Visa dot Com slash Security.
187
00:10:16.919 --> 00:10:20.159
After the interview with Ubisoft and we get to flip
188
00:10:20.200 --> 00:10:22.360
and I share some Black Friday deals, I'm also going
189
00:10:22.440 --> 00:10:25.320
to tell you about Norton and their approach to your
190
00:10:25.399 --> 00:10:28.600
personal protection in the digital age. If you want to
191
00:10:28.639 --> 00:10:31.120
reach out on social media with any tech questions you've
192
00:10:31.120 --> 00:10:33.879
got from me, be it tech support, or you've got
193
00:10:33.919 --> 00:10:37.080
any follow up questions on the Black Friday deals I'm
194
00:10:37.200 --> 00:10:39.679
chatting about this hour, or you want more info in
195
00:10:39.759 --> 00:10:41.960
any of my guests. I'll spell my name in a moment,
196
00:10:42.039 --> 00:10:46.039
but you can find me on x, Facebook, Instagram threads,
197
00:10:46.320 --> 00:10:50.519
Blue Sky, TikTok, YouTube and LinkedIn. I think that's enough.
198
00:10:50.559 --> 00:10:53.799
One that's like nine or something. So it's Mark Saltzman,
199
00:10:54.000 --> 00:10:58.639
mar C sa l t z m a n. Or
200
00:10:58.679 --> 00:11:01.399
as the announcer says through this show, Mark with the C,
201
00:11:01.759 --> 00:11:04.639
Saltzman with the Z, nice little ring to it. And yes,
202
00:11:04.679 --> 00:11:08.000
as a Canadian s A L t z m a
203
00:11:08.159 --> 00:11:11.240
n just doesn't have that rhyming thing. So again, yeah,
204
00:11:11.240 --> 00:11:13.039
I love to hear from you. Also, let me know
205
00:11:13.080 --> 00:11:15.039
how you're listening to check it out. Is it on
206
00:11:15.080 --> 00:11:17.840
your local talk radio station and if so, where you're
207
00:11:17.840 --> 00:11:21.159
listening in from or if it's in podcast form? All right,
208
00:11:21.360 --> 00:11:23.600
more check it out coming right up after this.
209
00:11:24.200 --> 00:11:26.320
Listen to check it out whenever you want find the
210
00:11:26.360 --> 00:11:28.399
Check it Out podcast, did I too, or wherever you
211
00:11:28.440 --> 00:11:37.960
get your podcasts.
212
00:11:40.039 --> 00:11:42.879
Welcome back to check it out. We are chatting with
213
00:11:43.000 --> 00:11:46.559
Simon Shanu. He is global producer on the Just Dance
214
00:11:46.639 --> 00:11:49.759
series from ub Soft. We're chatting with him all the
215
00:11:49.799 --> 00:11:53.240
way from Paris, France. The game is available now for
216
00:11:53.480 --> 00:11:56.600
multiple platforms. We just heard, of course about new music,
217
00:11:56.639 --> 00:11:58.879
that's always something that we get every year with the
218
00:11:59.080 --> 00:12:02.039
Just Dance franchise, but also new modes. We heard about
219
00:12:02.120 --> 00:12:04.279
party mode, which sounds like a lot of fun. I
220
00:12:04.279 --> 00:12:07.360
did watch the animation of the scientist in a YouTube video.
221
00:12:07.559 --> 00:12:10.120
And now we're hearing about camera controller. So instead of
222
00:12:10.200 --> 00:12:14.039
having to hold the controller, but this leverages the camera
223
00:12:14.200 --> 00:12:17.080
on your smartphone so you can play hands free. So
224
00:12:17.279 --> 00:12:19.720
simon is the idea that you prop up your phone
225
00:12:19.720 --> 00:12:21.679
near the TV facing it towards you.
226
00:12:21.879 --> 00:12:25.879
Yeah, that's exactly its just have to download the Just
227
00:12:25.960 --> 00:12:30.120
Dance Controller application, which is available on iOS and adoid.
228
00:12:30.840 --> 00:12:35.279
The next step is placing your phone between yourself and
229
00:12:35.360 --> 00:12:39.639
the TV so the camerara can track your movements.
230
00:12:39.320 --> 00:12:40.039
As a player.
231
00:12:40.279 --> 00:12:43.639
And this is how you experience that this full body
232
00:12:43.720 --> 00:12:47.080
movement trucking. So it's a very exciting way to play
233
00:12:47.200 --> 00:12:49.919
Just Dance. We are releasing the feature in a final
234
00:12:50.039 --> 00:12:52.840
version for Just Dance twenty six, and I know the
235
00:12:52.879 --> 00:12:55.759
community is very excited about it, and I believe everyone
236
00:12:55.799 --> 00:13:00.440
who tries it understand why, understand why it fun. What's
237
00:13:00.440 --> 00:13:03.879
interesting is it's compatible with all the maps from Just
238
00:13:03.960 --> 00:13:07.919
Dance twenty six, but also with map from the previous
239
00:13:08.200 --> 00:13:09.240
entries of the series.
240
00:13:09.559 --> 00:13:11.919
When you say maps you mean the songs.
241
00:13:11.759 --> 00:13:13.240
I mean the songs exactly, all.
242
00:13:13.200 --> 00:13:14.679
Right, So I think that's great. Obviously you have to
243
00:13:14.720 --> 00:13:16.440
be on the same Wi Fi network with your phone
244
00:13:16.480 --> 00:13:18.120
as you are your video game system.
245
00:13:18.320 --> 00:13:22.159
Definitely, that's the way the smartphone connects to the to
246
00:13:22.200 --> 00:13:22.639
the console.
247
00:13:23.120 --> 00:13:25.480
Is it almost as accurate as holding a controller. It's
248
00:13:25.519 --> 00:13:27.440
a lot more convenient, for sure. Yeah.
249
00:13:27.480 --> 00:13:30.559
Actually I would say it's even more precise that with
250
00:13:30.639 --> 00:13:34.639
the that with the controller, the joy Gone or your
251
00:13:34.720 --> 00:13:38.600
phone in the end controller, because it tracks the whole body,
252
00:13:38.840 --> 00:13:41.000
so you really have to, like I don't know if
253
00:13:41.039 --> 00:13:44.600
you if you saw that, but sometimes when playing Just Dance,
254
00:13:44.840 --> 00:13:49.240
you have this like temptation to just move a little
255
00:13:49.240 --> 00:13:51.720
bit the end and you feel like it's covering, but
256
00:13:52.039 --> 00:13:54.639
you can't do that with the full bodies covering. This
257
00:13:54.799 --> 00:13:56.960
is really the more precise experience you can get, and
258
00:13:57.000 --> 00:13:59.960
you really have to like involve yourself with your football.
259
00:14:00.240 --> 00:14:03.320
So I think it's really fun to do it that way,
260
00:14:03.360 --> 00:14:06.000
and this is kind of the more complete experience you
261
00:14:06.039 --> 00:14:08.919
can have of dancing in Just Dance.
262
00:14:09.039 --> 00:14:10.919
Looking forward to trying that. That sounds great. And you
263
00:14:10.960 --> 00:14:13.559
said it also works with other versions, like previous versions
264
00:14:13.559 --> 00:14:14.159
of Just Dance.
265
00:14:14.480 --> 00:14:18.519
Yeah, it works with songs starting from Just Dance twenty
266
00:14:18.639 --> 00:14:22.039
twenty three, So it means if you already own previous
267
00:14:22.159 --> 00:14:23.440
Just Dance you can try it.
268
00:14:23.840 --> 00:14:26.759
Speaking of songs, can you add more songs to Just
269
00:14:26.840 --> 00:14:29.159
Dance twenty twenty six over time, like you know, with
270
00:14:29.240 --> 00:14:30.639
an end game purchase.
271
00:14:31.039 --> 00:14:34.600
Yeah, so we of course you're already own forty maps
272
00:14:34.639 --> 00:14:37.120
when you buy Just Dance twenty six, which is a lot.
273
00:14:37.320 --> 00:14:40.360
But you can also have access to more songs on
274
00:14:40.480 --> 00:14:44.840
your Just Dance by subscribing to the Just Dance Plus subscription.
275
00:14:45.720 --> 00:14:49.799
It's a subscription that grants you exclusive access to an
276
00:14:49.799 --> 00:14:55.399
everging catalog with hundreds of songs from the previous Just
277
00:14:55.519 --> 00:14:59.799
Dance installments, but also to new songs we are releasing
278
00:15:00.320 --> 00:15:01.840
ran there during the year.
279
00:15:02.080 --> 00:15:04.679
That's great. I like that option. And I also understand
280
00:15:04.679 --> 00:15:07.720
that there are some Black Friday deals on UB games,
281
00:15:07.720 --> 00:15:10.960
including Just Dance twenty twenty six editions, so some extra
282
00:15:11.039 --> 00:15:13.799
incentive to buy this by the end of November and
283
00:15:13.840 --> 00:15:17.120
then place it into a stocking for Christmas a month later.
284
00:15:17.519 --> 00:15:21.120
Yeah, absolutely, so Black Friday is like from November twenty
285
00:15:21.159 --> 00:15:25.159
to December first, I believe, and the Just Dance will
286
00:15:25.200 --> 00:15:31.120
be available at up to forty percent off. Wow, which
287
00:15:31.159 --> 00:15:35.320
makes it basically the perfect time to grab the latest
288
00:15:36.000 --> 00:15:39.480
edition and enjoy all the new content with the bartimode
289
00:15:39.720 --> 00:15:41.080
and the camera's going.
290
00:15:41.320 --> 00:15:44.559
That's significant, and I think there's also similar sales on
291
00:15:44.639 --> 00:15:47.440
other Ubisoft games like Star Wars, Outlaws and all that,
292
00:15:47.519 --> 00:15:49.960
So that's amazing. So Black Friday is technically the twenty
293
00:15:50.000 --> 00:15:52.720
eighth of November, but as Simon said, these deals start
294
00:15:52.840 --> 00:15:55.200
as early as the twentieth. Before I let you go, Simon,
295
00:15:55.240 --> 00:15:58.240
I understand that one of the other games in the series,
296
00:15:58.320 --> 00:16:01.360
called Just Dance Now has more than one hundred and
297
00:16:01.360 --> 00:16:05.759
thirty five million players worldwide, and LG just announced the
298
00:16:05.799 --> 00:16:08.799
partnership with this game. Can you tell us about it? Yeah?
299
00:16:08.799 --> 00:16:12.840
So Just Dance Now is running since about ten years.
300
00:16:13.440 --> 00:16:16.720
I think it a lots players to enjoy Just Dance
301
00:16:17.080 --> 00:16:22.480
everywhere basically using only a smartphone and an Internet connected
302
00:16:23.159 --> 00:16:27.080
second screen. It is led by our fantastic team at
303
00:16:27.519 --> 00:16:33.360
Ubisoft Pune, and of course we are very excited about
304
00:16:33.399 --> 00:16:37.080
this great partnership which is happening with LG, and I
305
00:16:37.120 --> 00:16:40.320
think it will bring Just Dance now to a lot
306
00:16:40.360 --> 00:16:44.679
of people who own an LGTV, so a lot of
307
00:16:44.759 --> 00:16:47.000
new players who are going to be able to try
308
00:16:47.159 --> 00:16:49.360
Just Dance starting next December.
309
00:16:49.799 --> 00:16:51.960
Yeah, that's great. So you don't need a console to
310
00:16:52.039 --> 00:16:55.120
play this version Just Dance Now, it's going to be
311
00:16:55.200 --> 00:16:58.120
baked into the TV and some other platforms internet based game.
312
00:16:58.320 --> 00:17:00.600
Love it. And then finally, Simon worked we learn more
313
00:17:00.639 --> 00:17:03.600
about Just Dance twenty twenty six edition, the forty new
314
00:17:03.679 --> 00:17:06.440
songs that are added, modes like party mode, and the
315
00:17:06.480 --> 00:17:09.200
new camera control feature. Is there a website you can recommend?
316
00:17:09.319 --> 00:17:13.119
You can see all of the infos on Just Dance Socials,
317
00:17:13.279 --> 00:17:16.759
but also the Just Dance website. You can just google
318
00:17:16.799 --> 00:17:19.799
it and I think you'll find it very quickly.
319
00:17:20.039 --> 00:17:21.920
So just go to Google and just type in Just
320
00:17:22.000 --> 00:17:25.279
Dance twenty twenty six. Awesome, Simon schnew great to chat
321
00:17:25.279 --> 00:17:27.400
with you. Congrats on the launch of Just Dance twenty
322
00:17:27.440 --> 00:17:30.720
twenty six edition. Very exciting. Thank you. After this short break,
323
00:17:30.720 --> 00:17:33.400
I'm going to chat about some Black Friday deals and
324
00:17:33.599 --> 00:17:37.079

00:17:37.160 --> 00:17:39.359

With technology columnist, author, and TV personality Mark Saltzman.
342
00:18:39.200 --> 00:18:42.480
Welcome back to teck it Out. As I mentioned earlier
343
00:18:42.559 --> 00:18:44.880
in the program, I had a lot of fun going
344
00:18:44.960 --> 00:18:49.279
on TV chatting about some Black Friday and Cyber Monday
345
00:18:49.519 --> 00:18:53.319
related deals and just generally some great gadget gift ideas
346
00:18:53.359 --> 00:18:56.240
and some game related ones too, whether you're shopping for
347
00:18:56.279 --> 00:18:58.160
a loved one on your gift list or you want
348
00:18:58.160 --> 00:19:00.440
to treat yourself to something that may be on sale
349
00:19:00.519 --> 00:19:02.960
later this month. Black Friday is the twenty eighth and
350
00:19:03.160 --> 00:19:06.359
Cyber Monday is the first of December, And why not,
351
00:19:06.720 --> 00:19:09.160
right if you can save money, and if you've had
352
00:19:09.319 --> 00:19:12.720
an eye on something for yourself, no judging, right, grab
353
00:19:12.759 --> 00:19:15.559
a couple things in the kart for your family and
354
00:19:15.640 --> 00:19:18.519
friends and maybe coworkers, and maybe one or two for
355
00:19:18.640 --> 00:19:21.319
yourself as well, even if you were more naughty than
356
00:19:21.440 --> 00:19:23.880
nice this year. And so I wanted to share with
357
00:19:23.920 --> 00:19:26.400
you the items I showed on TV. And if you
358
00:19:26.440 --> 00:19:27.880
do want to see them, by the way, just look
359
00:19:27.880 --> 00:19:29.519
me up on social media and you can see a
360
00:19:29.640 --> 00:19:33.039
video of this. It's Mark Saltzman, Mark with the c
361
00:19:33.559 --> 00:19:36.720
SA L t z M AN. You'll find me on
362
00:19:36.759 --> 00:19:39.359
all the major social media platforms out there. All right,
363
00:19:39.440 --> 00:19:42.960
let's start off on the next evolution in handheld gaming,
364
00:19:43.200 --> 00:19:48.079
a partnership between rog Republic of Gamers and Xbox. I'm
365
00:19:48.119 --> 00:19:52.880
referring to the rog Xbox Ally and the Rog ally X.
366
00:19:53.079 --> 00:19:57.039
These are handheld gaming systems that deliver a lot of
367
00:19:57.119 --> 00:19:59.680
power and a gorgeous screen. More on that in the moment,
368
00:20:00.000 --> 00:20:03.079
but it fuses the power and versatility of a Windows
369
00:20:03.119 --> 00:20:07.200
eleven PC with the simplicity and comfort of console gaming
370
00:20:07.400 --> 00:20:10.839
because you've got Xbox like controls on each side of
371
00:20:10.880 --> 00:20:14.960
the gorgeous seven inch screen. So perfect to play wherever
372
00:20:15.160 --> 00:20:18.160
life takes you because you've got the screen right on
373
00:20:18.279 --> 00:20:21.000
the device, but you can also dock it and play
374
00:20:21.000 --> 00:20:23.079
it on a big screen TV or monitor when you
375
00:20:23.160 --> 00:20:25.400
get home or in a hotel room or what have you.
376
00:20:25.440 --> 00:20:28.680
There's the white rog Ally, which is great for everyday
377
00:20:28.720 --> 00:20:32.640
and enthusiast gamers who want great value at five ninety nine.
378
00:20:32.839 --> 00:20:36.559
And then there's the rog xbox ally X in black
379
00:20:36.839 --> 00:20:39.599
for those who want the very best in performance and
380
00:20:39.799 --> 00:20:42.119
battery life and a few other bells and whistles at
381
00:20:42.359 --> 00:20:44.880
nine to ninety nine. And both of these are powered
382
00:20:44.920 --> 00:20:48.759
by AMD Rizin processors. Again, easy to pick up, hard
383
00:20:48.759 --> 00:20:50.880
to put down, it's a lot of fun. So that's
384
00:20:50.920 --> 00:20:54.400
the rog xbox ally series. Brand new to the market,
385
00:20:54.559 --> 00:20:58.960
highly anticipated, and they deliver the goods. Asus dot Com
386
00:20:59.039 --> 00:21:03.559
has more. That'sus dot Com. And speaking of the rog
387
00:21:03.839 --> 00:21:08.160
xbox ally series, what about storage to expand how many
388
00:21:08.200 --> 00:21:10.599
games you can hold on there without having to delete
389
00:21:10.640 --> 00:21:12.640
ones you still want to play right. That's always a
390
00:21:12.680 --> 00:21:16.880
pain point. While sand Disk, the leaders in flash storage,
391
00:21:17.000 --> 00:21:20.599
have sand Disc micro SD cards for the rog Xbox
392
00:21:20.720 --> 00:21:24.519
ally so these are officially licensed tiny little micro SD
393
00:21:24.599 --> 00:21:27.920
cards about the size of your pinky fingernail from sand
394
00:21:27.920 --> 00:21:31.119
Disk that are engineered with high read and write speeds
395
00:21:31.319 --> 00:21:35.000
so optimize for fast game installations and updates so you
396
00:21:35.000 --> 00:21:38.480
can spend less time loading and more time playing. Despite
397
00:21:38.519 --> 00:21:42.880
its teeny size, storage options are up to two terabytes
398
00:21:43.200 --> 00:21:46.440
that's about two thousand gigabytes, allowing you to hold up
399
00:21:46.519 --> 00:21:50.720
to fifty games. These cards are also shockproof, drawproof, and
400
00:21:51.000 --> 00:21:53.960
X ray proof, and back by a limited lifetime warranty.
401
00:21:54.160 --> 00:21:56.440
They start at sixty nine dollars, but you can find
402
00:21:56.440 --> 00:21:59.960
some sales over Black Friday and Cyber Monday at sand Disk.
403
00:22:00.920 --> 00:22:03.759
Next up, and speaking of gaming, there's also a huge
404
00:22:03.799 --> 00:22:06.480
sale on a pair of Ubisoft games leading up to
405
00:22:06.519 --> 00:22:09.519
Black Friday. There's an interview with the company playing this
406
00:22:09.680 --> 00:22:12.720
hour as well, but because there's also a Black Friday sale,
407
00:22:12.720 --> 00:22:15.160
I wanted to include them here too. Just Dance twenty
408
00:22:15.200 --> 00:22:18.400
twenty six edition is the hit holiday game for families
409
00:22:18.400 --> 00:22:21.839
and friends with forty new tracks to dance to, a
410
00:22:22.039 --> 00:22:25.200
new party mode with a fun and silly story with
411
00:22:25.359 --> 00:22:28.640
animated scenes to follow, along with a hands free camera
412
00:22:28.759 --> 00:22:32.359
controller option that uses your phone's camera if you don't
413
00:22:32.359 --> 00:22:35.519
want to hold the controller, and a bluey medley for
414
00:22:35.640 --> 00:22:38.839
fans of the hit TV show Just Dance twenty twenty
415
00:22:38.880 --> 00:22:42.559
six edition is twenty five bucks off, which is a
416
00:22:42.559 --> 00:22:46.119
great deal from November the twentieth to December third. There's
417
00:22:46.160 --> 00:22:48.880
also Star Wars Outlaws, which is one of my favorite
418
00:22:48.920 --> 00:22:51.400
games from last year, but now out for the Nintendo
419
00:22:51.480 --> 00:22:55.279
Switch and other platforms. It's an epic single player Star
420
00:22:55.319 --> 00:22:57.960
Wars game that's open ended. There's so much to do,
421
00:22:58.079 --> 00:23:00.759
and it's twenty bucks off the game. You should definitely
422
00:23:00.880 --> 00:23:03.200
check it out. So that's Star Wars Outlaws and Just
423
00:23:03.319 --> 00:23:07.240
Dance twenty twenty six edition. You'bisoft dot com has more
424
00:23:07.440 --> 00:23:11.559
all right? Moving on, how about a portable projector. Epsin
425
00:23:11.880 --> 00:23:15.359
just launched its life studio pop Plus. This is a
426
00:23:15.559 --> 00:23:20.000
portable projector with four K resolution and high brightness seven
427
00:23:20.079 --> 00:23:23.240
hundred lumens of color and white brightness, built in Google
428
00:23:23.319 --> 00:23:26.519
TV for streaming content, so you likely don't even need
429
00:23:26.559 --> 00:23:29.039
to connect anything to it, like a cable box or
430
00:23:29.079 --> 00:23:32.359
a Blu ray player or anything like that. And exceptional sound.
431
00:23:32.599 --> 00:23:36.079
Why because epsin has partnered with Bose to handle the
432
00:23:36.119 --> 00:23:39.880
audio from this Life Studio Pop Plus Projector. It's a partnership.
433
00:23:39.960 --> 00:23:43.799
The epsin Projection Studio app works with the projector and
434
00:23:43.920 --> 00:23:48.079
lets you and others create and share personalized videos directly
435
00:23:48.319 --> 00:23:51.079
on the one hundred and fifty inch image, whether you're
436
00:23:51.079 --> 00:23:54.440
indoors or outdoors in real time. It's really wild. So
437
00:23:54.559 --> 00:23:57.519
that's the app called epsin Projection Studio, which works with
438
00:23:57.559 --> 00:24:01.119
the Epsen Life Studio Pop Plus Projector. We're chatting about
439
00:24:01.200 --> 00:24:04.079
on sale for Black Friday down to seven ninety nine.
440
00:24:04.359 --> 00:24:07.680
Epsom dot com has more one more idea and then
441
00:24:07.759 --> 00:24:10.640
a tech tip to share with you. So LG is
442
00:24:10.680 --> 00:24:14.119
saying that you can save up to seventy percent on
443
00:24:14.279 --> 00:24:16.799
some of its products leading up to Black Friday and
444
00:24:16.880 --> 00:24:19.680
over that weekend Cyber Monday being the first of December.
445
00:24:19.839 --> 00:24:21.880
And they always have great sales on its O lead
446
00:24:22.000 --> 00:24:25.519
TVs as well, even though they haven't specifically said how
447
00:24:25.599 --> 00:24:28.720
much this particular model will be reduced. But I'm referring
448
00:24:28.759 --> 00:24:33.920
to the lgoled Evo AI C five four K smart TV.
449
00:24:34.200 --> 00:24:37.480
It's perfect for families looking to upgrade their television as
450
00:24:37.599 --> 00:24:40.759
the weather cools. It's in sizes from forty two all
451
00:24:40.759 --> 00:24:43.400
the way up to eighty three inches, so budget and
452
00:24:43.440 --> 00:24:48.240
wall size permitting. Those LGO lead TVs offer perfect blacks
453
00:24:48.240 --> 00:24:52.359
and vibrant colors, high brightness, wide viewing angles. They sip
454
00:24:52.440 --> 00:24:55.400
rather than gulp power, so they're easy on your monthly
455
00:24:55.640 --> 00:24:58.680
energy bills. But again it's that picture. It's not just
456
00:24:58.759 --> 00:25:02.240
four K, but perfect block because of the selflit pixels
457
00:25:02.359 --> 00:25:06.119
powered by the Alpha A nine AI processor Gen eight.
458
00:25:06.440 --> 00:25:09.039
And for gamers, I know we've been talking a lot
459
00:25:09.079 --> 00:25:11.680
about gaming in this segment. It has a one hundred
460
00:25:11.680 --> 00:25:14.160
and forty four HITZ refresh rate and a point one
461
00:25:14.279 --> 00:25:17.599
millisecond response times, so super fast for gaming to keep
462
00:25:17.680 --> 00:25:20.680
up those fast paced games like that Star Wars Outlaws
463
00:25:20.759 --> 00:25:23.599
or just answ twenty twenty six edition. Actually so great
464
00:25:23.640 --> 00:25:27.960
stuff from LG at LG dot com. And finally, before
465
00:25:27.960 --> 00:25:30.200
we wrap up, especially this time of year, it's easy
466
00:25:30.240 --> 00:25:32.599
to get caught up in the excitement of Black Friday
467
00:25:32.599 --> 00:25:35.920
and Cyber Monday, but RBC is reminding you to stay
468
00:25:35.960 --> 00:25:39.480
cautious when shopping online. Be wary of too good to
469
00:25:39.519 --> 00:25:42.680
be true deals and texts and emails with links or
470
00:25:42.759 --> 00:25:47.480
attachments that can lead to scams or malware malicious software.
471
00:25:47.720 --> 00:25:52.720
Rbc'sbcyberaware website at rbc dot com slash cyber has an
472
00:25:52.799 --> 00:25:56.319
article on great tips to protecting yourself, such as enabling
473
00:25:56.359 --> 00:25:59.240
two factor authentication where you not only need your password
474
00:25:59.279 --> 00:26:01.240
to log in, but one time code sent to your
475
00:26:01.240 --> 00:26:05.680
mobile phone and ensuring that the website has HTTPS as
476
00:26:05.720 --> 00:26:08.680
insecure or that little padlock in the web browser to
477
00:26:08.759 --> 00:26:12.400
confirm it's an encrypted connection. Again RBC dot com slash
478
00:26:12.440 --> 00:26:15.319
cyber for more. Speaking of holiday shopping, we're going to
479
00:26:15.359 --> 00:26:18.559
catch up with Flip when we return after this short break.
480
00:26:18.599 --> 00:26:19.440
Stay with us.
481
00:26:19.839 --> 00:26:23.799
Breaking down GeekSpeak into street speak. Check it Out hosted
482
00:26:23.839 --> 00:26:34.559
by Mark Saltzman.
483
00:26:36.599 --> 00:26:39.960
Welcome back everyone. You're listening to check it out if
484
00:26:40.000 --> 00:26:43.559
you're looking to save money while shopping this season, and hey,
485
00:26:43.559 --> 00:26:47.680
who isn't, especially this year with tariff related price hikes
486
00:26:47.720 --> 00:26:51.440
and inflation. One of my very few must have apps
487
00:26:51.519 --> 00:26:55.640
on your smartphone is called Flip. That's FLI DOUBLEP. Among
488
00:26:55.720 --> 00:26:58.599
other features, Flip shows you all the circulars that you
489
00:26:58.759 --> 00:27:01.599
get delivered to your home digitally, all in one place,
490
00:27:01.680 --> 00:27:04.160
all in one app, along with coupons so you can
491
00:27:04.200 --> 00:27:07.400
get the best possible deals at retailers that you already
492
00:27:07.400 --> 00:27:09.559
shop at. Joining us on the line for a Flip
493
00:27:09.599 --> 00:27:12.799
one oh one if you will, is Michael Silverman, CEO
494
00:27:13.039 --> 00:27:15.279
of Flip. Welcome back to the show. Michael, good to
495
00:27:15.319 --> 00:27:16.079
chat with you again.
496
00:27:16.359 --> 00:27:18.039
Yeah, thank you, Mark, very excited to be here.
497
00:27:18.240 --> 00:27:18.359
Mike.
498
00:27:18.480 --> 00:27:20.400
I gotta tell you I've been covering Flip since it
499
00:27:20.440 --> 00:27:24.319
was called with Shabby back I don't know, twelve years
500
00:27:24.319 --> 00:27:26.039
and ten twelve years ago. It was founded by we
501
00:27:26.240 --> 00:27:28.920
Hunts ten many many moons ago. It's been a privilege
502
00:27:28.920 --> 00:27:31.559
to also partner with the company many times before. And
503
00:27:31.640 --> 00:27:34.200
having you back on the show is awesome and perfect
504
00:27:34.279 --> 00:27:37.200
timing as we're heading into Black Friday. So with that
505
00:27:37.319 --> 00:27:39.599
in mind, at a high level, please tell us all
506
00:27:39.640 --> 00:27:41.279
about Flip and how it works.
507
00:27:41.720 --> 00:27:44.279
Sure, so, thank you for noting it at the top here.
508
00:27:44.319 --> 00:27:48.119
But Flip two Pie's is essentially like a free shopping
509
00:27:48.119 --> 00:27:51.079
app and website, and what we do is we aggregate
510
00:27:51.200 --> 00:27:54.920
all the circulars and deals from over two thousand retailers
511
00:27:55.000 --> 00:27:59.839
across North America with the purpose of effectively helping shopper
512
00:28:00.240 --> 00:28:03.519
plan and then save money. And you know, like at flip,
513
00:28:03.519 --> 00:28:06.680
our state and mission is to help people make smarter
514
00:28:06.759 --> 00:28:09.640
shopping decisions. And again you made the point before, but
515
00:28:09.960 --> 00:28:13.039
in a time where inflation is impacting people's wallets and
516
00:28:13.079 --> 00:28:16.119
people's budgets are getting tighter, this could not be more
517
00:28:16.160 --> 00:28:17.960
important for most households.
518
00:28:18.599 --> 00:28:20.640
And so if Flip's free to download.
519
00:28:20.480 --> 00:28:22.799
The app store the Google play Store, all you have
520
00:28:22.839 --> 00:28:24.880
to do is search for it, find it, download it.
521
00:28:25.079 --> 00:28:27.640
Ultimately you enter your zip code and then you have
522
00:28:27.720 --> 00:28:30.000
the ability to find all the latest deals near.
523
00:28:29.880 --> 00:28:32.839
You, and you can search by retailer, like if you
524
00:28:32.920 --> 00:28:34.920
know you have a certain I don't know supermarket down
525
00:28:34.960 --> 00:28:36.559
the street, I should mention it's not just for Black
526
00:28:36.599 --> 00:28:40.440
Friday for gifts, but for groceries and other household decor
527
00:28:40.799 --> 00:28:43.359
and things like that. You could either browse buy store,
528
00:28:43.880 --> 00:28:46.160
or you could do a search by keyword right, could
529
00:28:46.200 --> 00:28:49.440
type in air pods or chicken breasts or something right,
530
00:28:49.480 --> 00:28:52.160
and then you could see your closest retailers who has
531
00:28:52.160 --> 00:28:53.000
one on sale.
532
00:28:53.279 --> 00:28:54.640
Yeah, that's totally right.
533
00:28:54.759 --> 00:28:57.960
So, in addition to being able to like browse or
534
00:28:57.960 --> 00:29:01.440
peruse the retailers nearby. We also have a search feature,
535
00:29:01.480 --> 00:29:03.839
a pretty powerful one, and it's really great for the
536
00:29:03.839 --> 00:29:05.880
shoppers who know exactly what it is that they already
537
00:29:05.880 --> 00:29:08.160
want to buy, and so ahead of the holidays, if
538
00:29:08.200 --> 00:29:11.880
you're searching for big ticket items, TVs, vacuums, whatever it is,
539
00:29:12.200 --> 00:29:14.480
it's a pretty powerful tool. But it's also you know,
540
00:29:14.519 --> 00:29:16.640
like you touch on this just now, it's also great
541
00:29:16.759 --> 00:29:19.440
for comparing those day to day prices. The grocery is
542
00:29:19.440 --> 00:29:24.359
the household essentials, and for these holiday seasons, Thanksgiving, Christmas,
543
00:29:24.440 --> 00:29:27.799
or Hanukkah, whatever the holiday may be, having the ability
544
00:29:27.839 --> 00:29:31.240
to find those household essentials and groceries as you plan
545
00:29:31.359 --> 00:29:35.319
for family events is also an incredibly valuable tool. So
546
00:29:35.559 --> 00:29:37.960
if you see the deals, you have the ability then
547
00:29:38.000 --> 00:29:40.759
subsequently in the app to add them to a shopping list,
548
00:29:40.960 --> 00:29:42.680
and it, you know, sort of helps you stay organized.
549
00:29:42.759 --> 00:29:44.680
So with that in mind, let's say you've seen a
550
00:29:44.839 --> 00:29:47.359
I don't know, a butterball turkey, or you see a
551
00:29:47.359 --> 00:29:49.480
big screen TV that you've had your eye on. What
552
00:29:49.519 --> 00:29:51.400
do you do? You just tap it once and it
553
00:29:51.440 --> 00:29:52.920
adds it to your shopping list.
554
00:29:53.119 --> 00:29:56.200
Yeah, you can effectually it's the same terminology we used
555
00:29:56.200 --> 00:29:58.440
to use an analog, so we call it clipping. So
556
00:29:58.640 --> 00:30:01.319
if you find an item in a circular or through
557
00:30:01.359 --> 00:30:04.720
the search feature, can clip the item and then subsequently
558
00:30:04.839 --> 00:30:06.599
gets added automatically.
559
00:30:06.039 --> 00:30:06.799
To your shopping list.
560
00:30:06.880 --> 00:30:09.000
And here's a fun fact. If you press a hold
561
00:30:09.119 --> 00:30:11.680
on that item, you'll get more information like you can
562
00:30:11.799 --> 00:30:15.759
see like more details or specs if it is consumer electronics,
563
00:30:15.839 --> 00:30:18.279
maybe some reviews. It's all by pressing and holding, but
564
00:30:18.359 --> 00:30:21.200
a quick tap lets you, as you called it, quote unquote,
565
00:30:21.240 --> 00:30:24.000
clip it into your shopping list before you head out.
566
00:30:24.039 --> 00:30:27.160
And we should clarify that flip is more for retail
567
00:30:27.359 --> 00:30:29.960
shopping than it is for online shopping at this point.
568
00:30:30.759 --> 00:30:34.640
Yeah, that's a great distinction. I'd say it services both.
569
00:30:34.720 --> 00:30:37.039
So we have retailers that work with us, especially around
570
00:30:37.119 --> 00:30:41.160
Black Friday, to promote some of the amazing offers that they.
571
00:30:41.039 --> 00:30:44.079
Have that happen online. Yeah, and that happens year round.
572
00:30:44.119 --> 00:30:46.319
But you know, we know that you know most of
573
00:30:46.359 --> 00:30:49.119
your shopping, most of your staple shopping for the head
574
00:30:49.119 --> 00:30:51.799
of household shopper who's looking and is on a mission
575
00:30:51.839 --> 00:30:54.720
to feed their family, clothe their family, that it's those
576
00:30:54.920 --> 00:30:58.799
day to day items, those household essentials, those groceries that
577
00:30:58.839 --> 00:31:01.200
have such a large impact on their wallet. So that's
578
00:31:01.240 --> 00:31:04.599
where we do most of our damage trying to help shoppers,
579
00:31:04.920 --> 00:31:08.000
is we help them find those local savings near them
580
00:31:08.319 --> 00:31:08.880
in store.
581
00:31:09.079 --> 00:31:12.200
Going back to Black Friday though, because this is mid November,
582
00:31:12.240 --> 00:31:16.200
I believe that flip has a dedicated Black Friday section.
583
00:31:16.640 --> 00:31:18.720
Is that right? And is it fair to say, Michael
584
00:31:18.720 --> 00:31:20.759
that there's a lot of buzz this year leading into
585
00:31:20.920 --> 00:31:21.640
Black Friday?
586
00:31:22.000 --> 00:31:27.039
Yeah, I mean, savings oriented holidays are big. But we
587
00:31:27.119 --> 00:31:30.160
keep touching on this. It's an obvious theme, but a
588
00:31:30.200 --> 00:31:33.039
real and present one for most households. Budgets are tight,
589
00:31:33.240 --> 00:31:36.200
so this is a year where retailers are leaning in
590
00:31:36.319 --> 00:31:40.039
pretty heavily to their savings oriented promotions. And in addition
591
00:31:40.079 --> 00:31:42.160
to that, it's been a theme for over a decade
592
00:31:42.200 --> 00:31:44.680
now that these deals have a tendency to drop earlier
593
00:31:44.720 --> 00:31:46.839
and earlier each year. So you know, like when you
594
00:31:46.880 --> 00:31:49.240
think about it, that can be incredibly overwhelming to manage,
595
00:31:49.319 --> 00:31:52.000
especially over a large space of time. So we work
596
00:31:52.160 --> 00:31:55.119
pretty diligently to find ways inside of the tools that
597
00:31:55.119 --> 00:31:58.599
we offer shoppers to help them manage that chaos. And
598
00:31:58.599 --> 00:32:02.079
in fact you said it. We have created a dedicated
599
00:32:02.119 --> 00:32:06.000
Black Friday category to help you stay organized for the holidays.
600
00:32:06.160 --> 00:32:09.559
So, whether it's the Flip app or the website which
601
00:32:09.599 --> 00:32:14.400
is at simply flip dot com flipp dot com, there's
602
00:32:14.440 --> 00:32:16.519
like a carousel or what have you near the top
603
00:32:16.559 --> 00:32:19.039
where you can find specific Black Friday deals. And as
604
00:32:19.039 --> 00:32:21.119
you mentioned, and I'm glad you did that, you often
605
00:32:21.119 --> 00:32:23.519
don't have to wait. The retailers don't want to lose you.
606
00:32:23.680 --> 00:32:25.720
They want to make that sale, even if it's earlier,
607
00:32:25.880 --> 00:32:28.200
and so be on the lookout for great deals this
608
00:32:28.279 --> 00:32:30.480
year and Flip can certainly help there. We are chatting
609
00:32:30.480 --> 00:32:33.519
with Michael Silverman, chief executive officer at Flip. This is
610
00:32:33.599 --> 00:32:36.400
an app and a website that has been dedicated to
611
00:32:36.480 --> 00:32:39.599
saving you money. What about the Flips watch List. Let's
612
00:32:39.599 --> 00:32:41.440
say you've had something on your mind all year around,
613
00:32:41.440 --> 00:32:43.599
but you've been waiting for that price to drop.
614
00:32:43.720 --> 00:32:46.880
What a great tool, great ingenuity by our team. It
615
00:32:46.920 --> 00:32:49.599
acts as your personal deal tracker. If you're searching for
616
00:32:49.680 --> 00:32:51.920
something and you don't love the deals that you're finding
617
00:32:51.960 --> 00:32:54.039
on it at the moment, what you're allowed to do
618
00:32:54.279 --> 00:32:56.480
is add it to a watch list inside of the
619
00:32:56.519 --> 00:32:58.759
app and then Flip does all the work for you
620
00:32:58.880 --> 00:33:01.640
and essentially, like as you were going about your daily life,
621
00:33:01.680 --> 00:33:03.440
if there's something you wanted to keep an eye on,
622
00:33:03.519 --> 00:33:05.960
we'll send you a notification when deals do pop up.
623
00:33:06.279 --> 00:33:09.640
All right, awesome, More about this feature when we return
624
00:33:09.759 --> 00:33:11.559
with flip on Teck it out.
625
00:33:12.119 --> 00:33:15.480
Follow Mark Saltzman on Facebook, on Twitter, on Instagram. Listen
626
00:33:15.519 --> 00:33:32.839
to check it out whenever you want.
627
00:33:27.519 --> 00:33:31.359
A few more minutes With Flip's CEO, Michael Silverman, Flip
628
00:33:31.400 --> 00:33:34.759
is fli doublep and app and website that saves you money.
629
00:33:35.039 --> 00:33:37.680
Is there a way, Michael you can quantify how much
630
00:33:37.720 --> 00:33:40.519
people can save using Flip, whether it's for day to
631
00:33:40.599 --> 00:33:43.400
day groceries or bigger ticket items as gifts.
632
00:33:43.759 --> 00:33:46.519
Yeah, you know, it really does. Depend more you use it,
633
00:33:46.519 --> 00:33:47.200
the more you can say it.
634
00:33:47.240 --> 00:33:51.440
I would say that, and certainly we survey the shoppers regularly,
635
00:33:51.559 --> 00:33:54.279
and our average Flip user save somewhere in the neighborhood
636
00:33:54.279 --> 00:33:56.640
of twenty to twenty five percent per week. Oh well
637
00:33:56.720 --> 00:34:00.119
on your groceries, so it's very substantial, very meaningful saving
638
00:34:00.440 --> 00:34:03.680
on your regular purchases at the time of holidays, I mean,
639
00:34:03.720 --> 00:34:05.519
on any individual item. It could save you up to
640
00:34:05.519 --> 00:34:09.159
seventy percent. It really depends on what offer is being made.
641
00:34:09.239 --> 00:34:13.159
But we see ourselves as a utility that shoppers use
642
00:34:13.280 --> 00:34:15.880
on a regular basis, and for the shoppers that do
643
00:34:16.079 --> 00:34:19.480
use our app regularly, we have a pretty material impact
644
00:34:19.559 --> 00:34:19.960
on their wall.
645
00:34:20.079 --> 00:34:23.079
Yeah. I like that you're empowering users to make a decision.
646
00:34:23.239 --> 00:34:26.280
For example, if my wife, Kelly, who does the shopping
647
00:34:26.280 --> 00:34:28.880
in our home, if she sees something like, I don't know,
648
00:34:29.000 --> 00:34:32.039
cereal is on sale for a dollar off, if it's
649
00:34:32.159 --> 00:34:34.440
far away, it's not going to be worth her time
650
00:34:34.559 --> 00:34:36.760
or the gas money to go and get it. So
651
00:34:36.880 --> 00:34:39.320
but she can decide where she wants to hit, you know,
652
00:34:39.599 --> 00:34:41.719
and what order, what supermarkets she wants to go do
653
00:34:41.960 --> 00:34:43.679
kind of thing, and whether she should wait or not.
654
00:34:43.800 --> 00:34:46.199
But I like that you're giving us the information and
655
00:34:46.199 --> 00:34:48.639
then we can use it how we want at that
656
00:34:48.679 --> 00:34:51.000
point or not at all. And then before we wrap up,
657
00:34:51.000 --> 00:34:53.639
I wanted to ask you, Michael, about the ability to
658
00:34:53.760 --> 00:34:56.960
store loyalty cards or rewards cards inside the app. I
659
00:34:57.079 --> 00:34:59.280
use this all the time. I'm opening up Flip all
660
00:34:59.280 --> 00:35:01.280
the time when I'm surepping somewhere and I have like
661
00:35:01.320 --> 00:35:03.320
a points card or what have. You can you tell
662
00:35:03.360 --> 00:35:03.840
us about that.
663
00:35:04.039 --> 00:35:06.719
Yeah, another feature in our app that I love. I
664
00:35:06.760 --> 00:35:08.119
really think of our app.
665
00:35:07.920 --> 00:35:10.960
As sort of like a Swiss army knife for savings.
666
00:35:11.159 --> 00:35:14.000
And so in addition to the watch list we discuss
667
00:35:14.239 --> 00:35:17.599
or regular shopping lists or the ability to search, we
668
00:35:17.760 --> 00:35:21.800
also have effectively like your digital loyalty card wallet, so
669
00:35:21.840 --> 00:35:24.719
you can save some of your loyalty cards directly in
670
00:35:24.800 --> 00:35:27.480
the app to make it more convenient, you know, whether
671
00:35:27.519 --> 00:35:30.760
you're perusing or you're in store, to have the ability
672
00:35:30.760 --> 00:35:32.840
to sort of like leverage the app as one convenient
673
00:35:32.840 --> 00:35:34.639
app to manage your savings.
674
00:35:34.320 --> 00:35:36.320
Instead of carrying a pocket or a purse full of
675
00:35:36.360 --> 00:35:38.800
plastic cards that you need to pull out and the
676
00:35:38.880 --> 00:35:41.119
people behind you in line are getting irritated, and you
677
00:35:41.159 --> 00:35:42.840
just open up the Flip app and you tap the
678
00:35:43.039 --> 00:35:46.760
settings icon a little gear and then it's under something
679
00:35:46.840 --> 00:35:49.679
like my cards or something like that. So, yeah, super convenient.
680
00:35:49.840 --> 00:35:52.639
And then if there is a coupon, like for something
681
00:35:52.639 --> 00:35:55.519
that you could use at a store, like say Target
682
00:35:55.679 --> 00:35:58.639
or Walmart or Home Depot, Michael, how does that work
683
00:35:58.679 --> 00:35:59.599
within the Flip app?
684
00:35:59.760 --> 00:36:02.599
Yeah, you know, as an extension of those loyalty cards.
685
00:36:02.599 --> 00:36:05.639
We really primarily deal with digital coupons. So there was
686
00:36:05.679 --> 00:36:08.599
a point in time where print coupons were a very
687
00:36:08.599 --> 00:36:11.239
big thing, and we actually enabled that more frequently in
688
00:36:11.280 --> 00:36:15.239
the app. Now we're hyper digitally focused business, and so
689
00:36:15.320 --> 00:36:17.760
what happens is that the coupons that we do have
690
00:36:17.880 --> 00:36:21.760
available present themselves throughout the content, whether again, whether it's
691
00:36:21.760 --> 00:36:24.119
in search, you'll be able to see a little icon
692
00:36:24.159 --> 00:36:26.320
that shows you that there's a coupon available on the product,
693
00:36:26.639 --> 00:36:29.719
or if you're perusing the flyer, we actually have icons
694
00:36:29.800 --> 00:36:32.199
in the flyer embedded in the flyers to show you
695
00:36:32.239 --> 00:36:34.760
that there is a coupon available against that item that
696
00:36:34.800 --> 00:36:38.599
you can stack against the savings you're already generating that
697
00:36:38.639 --> 00:36:41.280
are available in store. But the way that it functions
698
00:36:41.320 --> 00:36:44.039
is that you have to clip the coupon inside of
699
00:36:44.079 --> 00:36:46.360
the app and add it to your loyalty card, so
700
00:36:46.400 --> 00:36:49.599
it's called load to ID savings, and many of the
701
00:36:49.639 --> 00:36:52.760
retailers across the US we have those tools available.
702
00:36:53.000 --> 00:36:56.039
Awesome. And then finally, how do we get going with flip?
703
00:36:56.079 --> 00:36:58.119
Do you recommend going to the app store if you're
704
00:36:58.159 --> 00:37:01.800
on iPhone or iPad or Google Play Store for Android devices,
705
00:37:01.880 --> 00:37:04.320
or do you think people should start at the website first.
706
00:37:04.400 --> 00:37:07.119
No, I you know, I'm more often than not suggest
707
00:37:07.199 --> 00:37:09.800
the apps. I think the apps are a really robust experience.
708
00:37:09.840 --> 00:37:12.719
The websites have parody in the features, but I really
709
00:37:12.800 --> 00:37:15.159
love the app experience. I think we are designed teams
710
00:37:15.199 --> 00:37:18.400
on an exceptional job of building a pretty straightforward and
711
00:37:18.480 --> 00:37:21.760
beautiful app to help you with what's otherwise a utility.
712
00:37:22.079 --> 00:37:24.960
So we have a very highly rated app. It's very present.
713
00:37:25.000 --> 00:37:27.800
Whether you're searching for other keywords like local deals, local
714
00:37:27.840 --> 00:37:30.239
savings will come up there as well. But if you
715
00:37:30.320 --> 00:37:33.000
show up on the app store the Google play Store
716
00:37:33.280 --> 00:37:36.199
and you type in flip, that's again Flip with two p's,
717
00:37:36.480 --> 00:37:38.440
you can download us and then you know, enter your
718
00:37:38.519 --> 00:37:39.679
zip code and you're good to go.
719
00:37:40.119 --> 00:37:42.360
All right, So, Michael, thank you so much for your time,
720
00:37:42.480 --> 00:37:44.639
