We Watched "Captain America: Brave New World"

Matt (00:00.425)
Hello and welcome back to Popcorn and Plot Oats. People are dropping like flies. We were forced to bring Joel back.

Luciano (00:10.412)
Much like Joaquin.

Joel (00:14.273)
After last week where it so promising and you know that I would never be coming back then surprise

Matt (00:20.777)
We were forced, Chris is still MIA and also Spencer apparently had his house demoed while the first floor. he is no longer, he is unhoused currently, I think is the politically correct term. Well, if he talked to his wife, yes. If you talk to Spencer, not really.

Luciano (00:32.845)
with us.

he's homeless. He's experiencing homelessness.

Joel (00:37.321)
Was this a planned unhousing or was this a...

Joel (00:43.626)
Okay, fair enough.

Luciano (00:43.682)
Yeah, but then he doesn't even know what's happening until the day things happen, so...

Matt (00:47.997)
This is correct. so to replace Spencer, we have brought back an old time. I don't know if you've actually been on the popcorn and plot holes version of this podcast, Scott, have you? No, he was, he was on you're wrong a lot, but not never.

Scott (00:58.663)
No, not the song, don't think.

Luciano (01:00.302)
We have brought Scott as better Spencer a couple of times in the other podcast.

Matt (01:07.005)
Yeah. So needn't he get better Spencer back. We have brought Scott along to talk about the, it's a movie. I'll say that. Captain America, brave new worlds.

Luciano (01:18.83)
You

Joel (01:19.768)
It's not the worst according to Rod and Tamiya's. It's not the worst Marvel MCU movie. Yeah, no, it's not in the bottom five, but...

Luciano (01:25.582)
I would agree with that. It's not.

Matt (01:27.047)
Yeah, that's a fair assessment.

Scott (01:32.255)
What's the worst one?

Matt (01:32.275)
We'll get into that because I think there are certain things this movie does that automatically means it will never be good. And that's not just about the story. But first, we're going to say one nice thing about this movie, just so we're positive, just in case we didn't like this movie, like it sounds like we're not going to. Because we're bringing a bunch of new people here, especially Scott Luciano, you're a veteran of saying one nice thing about a movie and then shitting on it.

Luciano (01:47.959)
What?

Joel (01:48.763)
Ha

Luciano (01:58.314)
Like picking the like the small yeah Okay, so i'll give you mine in this because I I thought about this because as I was watching I was like, fuck I have to find something I like about this movie I loved the way Sam finished the fight with Sidewinder when he didn't have his suit That drop kick was glorious Like no like no holds barred. No, just he just ran and kicked a sexagenarian in the

Joel (01:58.881)
You

Matt (02:01.735)
Go ahead.

Luciano (02:27.734)
the chest and he flew like I don't know 10 yards crashed against the car it was awesome I loved that scene

Scott (02:34.56)
Didn't he make like mustard gas and then it didn't impact either of them?

Luciano (02:38.638)
Yeah. We don't talk about that yet, but yes. Yeah.

Joel (02:39.445)
Yeah, yeah, pretty much.

Scott (02:42.621)
Okay, sorry, sorry.

Matt (02:42.697)
Nah, that's fine. We're saying nice things right now. Don't worry about that. Joel, you have a whole podcast under your belt, so you go next. That's okay. Spencer does all the time and he's a regular, so.

Joel (02:50.709)
I know and I forgot that you were going to ask this question. Really? Okay, perfect. I feel much better. think Sam, even though this whole change in Captain America and whatever else, I think he does a good job. think the fight scenes, his character, I think he's a different Captain America, but I like him as a Captain America-ish type character.

Luciano (02:52.75)
Spencer always does too. Yeah.

Matt (03:19.049)
Where is your rank on your list of Captain Americas in the MCU?

Luciano (03:21.87)
The long list.

Joel (03:22.795)
Well, how many Captain Americas are there supposed to be here? guess that's three.

Matt (03:25.299)
Well, we've got three. Well, Isaiah Bradley is a Captain America.

Luciano (03:25.848)
Two. Who's the third? that's true. Isaiah Bre... Well, he never really was.

Joel (03:31.263)
Yeah, I mean, this is, I mean, I'd say he's too, you know, it's just, he doesn't like, it's just, I don't know, he's the new Captain America because they had to find a new Captain America to keep this thing going, but so he's never going to be.

Matt (03:33.009)
And he is, and then Chris Evans and then.

Matt (03:47.081)
I'm going to stab you because it started off positive and it's trending downwards quickly. That's fair. That's on me. Just to delay even more for Scott and maybe steal his answer to make it harder for him. I got to say this. Harrison Ford is an excellent actor and he does a great job at being a commotionally old asshole.

Luciano (03:50.141)
Hahaha!

Scott (03:50.528)
you

Joel (03:51.201)
Well, you didn't see this part had to be positive. He's two. He's not three. That's on you.

Luciano (04:05.239)
Yes.

Luciano (04:08.87)
such a perfect hook. When he turns into the Hulk, I was like, yeah, that face. That is the face of the Hulk.

Matt (04:14.951)
Yeah. Yeah. He was so, so he, mean, he's, he's a really enjoyable person in this movie. And I know we're going to talk about the fact that they ruined the Red Hulk because that really made the movie shitty. but I'm going to stay positive and say I just really enjoyed Harrison Ford as Thunderbolt Ross. Scott, it's your time to shine.

Scott (04:33.554)
It's hard to find something that was good about this movie. The only thing I can say is that like the technology of the capped suit was really cool. The vibranium wings, the purple glow and some of the things that they added there was kind of neat that I hadn't seen before. And that's the only thing that was semi interesting.

Matt (04:34.345)
You

Joel (04:36.449)
Hahaha

Luciano (04:42.648)
True.

Matt (04:46.685)
Yeah.

Matt (04:53.661)
That's going to, that's foreshadowing a question we have later in the question section. I'm going to, well, I'm going to open up the floor to just general comments about the movie, whether it's positive or negative. I'm going to lead off with the big one that annoyed the hell out me. And I just mentioned is the fact that they felt the need to spoil the red Hulk in posters and in trailers because it, like, when I watched the movie, I was like, okay.

Luciano (04:53.73)
Hahaha!

Matt (05:19.197)
So Red Hulk clearly gonna show up in like the first third of this movie, right? Cause he's such a big part. And then it's supposed, the movie portrays it as this huge reveal altering thing. And I was like, why the fuck you need to tell me? Like if you can't make the movie and believe in the reveal as being something wowing to your fans, then why are you making this movie the way it is?

Luciano (05:28.514)
Reveal, yeah, yeah.

Joel (05:43.849)
I think it's your fault. If you hadn't watched any of the trailers and got excited about this movie in the first place, like I didn't, then you wouldn't have known about the spoilers. So that's on you.

Matt (05:46.704)
That's right.

Matt (05:53.233)
Yeah, OK, that's fair. That's one take. Anybody else want to give a dissenting view?

Scott (05:57.665)
It would have been cool if they just showed like the red Hulk without showing the face. If you didn't know who was going to be the red Hulk, I think that would be add some excitement to the movie because you're like, where is it going to come from? But the fact that you see Harrison's forged face, you're like, when is it going to happen? It's not a question of who.

Matt (06:11.093)
Yeah

Luciano (06:12.184)
Wow, they show the whole transformation in the trailer. It's ridiculous. Yeah, yeah, yeah.

Matt (06:14.597)
Yes. Yeah, they didn't even make it like... Nah.

Joel (06:15.285)
Do they really? boy.

Luciano (06:20.3)
That scene when he finally transforms in the middle of like the report and everything, like it's not the whole scene, but they show like his face turning to the camera as Harrison Ford. It's ridiculous.

Matt (06:30.471)
Yeah. Yes. Yes. Yeah.

Joel (06:30.645)
Was the trailer more enjoyable than the actual film? Did it give you enough?

Luciano (06:33.056)
Yes, actually. Yeah, yeah. No, I was mad at that too. And then I looked at the poster and he's in the poster with Harrison Ford's face. It's like, I understand trailer is spoiled, but posters? This is like making a Romeo and Juliet movie and showing them both dead in the poster. Like, what the fuck?

Matt (06:41.437)
Mm-hmm. Yep.

Joel (06:48.222)
Ha ha.

Matt (06:53.737)
I don't think I've seen a greater like destruction of a movie reveal since was it one of the Terminators where they're like John Connor is a Terminator. Yeah, and I remember watching that movie because they did that. I'm like, don't see the point of watching this movie is when you've told me the whole central plot of it.

Luciano (07:01.325)
Yeah.

Luciano (07:05.294)
The Genesis, yeah, yeah.

I haven't, yeah. Yeah, I thought it was going to be like a mid movie sort of not twist, like, so something's going to happen. But I was like, it has to be early. Like you said, Matt, like, because there's no way it is going to be a reveal. then they show Sterns and we're going to talk about Sterns, but they show Sterns is like, I'm going to ruin you. I'm like, please don't tell me that this is what it is. It's like, no. no.

Joel (07:11.601)
Hahaha

Matt (07:18.377)
Yep.

Yes. No.

Matt (07:39.099)
Yeah. You so yeah.

Luciano (07:39.444)
it is. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.

Scott (07:40.928)
It's like they built the movie backwards. figured out what they wanted to do and they're like, no, we need some filler. And they just filled too much.

Matt (07:47.465)
Yeah. Well, it's so like, I guess that goes along with the Red Hawk and we're not gonna, we can talk about Samuel Sterns if we want to, but like, it was interesting. I have never figured out if I like it or I don't like it. The fact that they were able to stitch old stories back into the MCU in this way. Like I don't, it doesn't not work, I guess, but I'm not sure if I was like, if it's great.

Joel (07:48.193)
You

Luciano (08:14.016)
Well, what are you talking about? Because building off of the old Hulk movie is fine, continuity and all that. And they brought Liv Tyler back for 15 minutes, like they did Laura Dern in Cold Pursuit. But, but if we're talking about the other movie, they fucking stitched into this, then it does not work at all. That is honestly one of the dumbest ideas, like in terms of like, not movies, but like,

Matt (08:18.963)
Yeah. Yeah.

Matt (08:23.335)
Yep. Yep.

Luciano (08:43.766)
world-building stuff or like multi-movie or multi-work stuff to make the celestial's body be the source of adamantium? I was like no. No.

Matt (08:57.373)
So is it that they made the celestial be out of adamantium, even though he was in the Earth? Yeah, whatever. It doesn't even matter. Or is it that even though we've seen Wolverine in the MCU, that only now we've... So has Wolverine made a vibranium? Someone explain this to me. Scott, I'm looking at you.

Luciano (09:11.035)
Yeah, it's both. It's yeah, yes, it's both.

Scott (09:23.082)
Wolverine took a brain bath in the liquid brains of this guy before they found him in the earth somewhere and somehow that turned into injecting it to his bones.

Matt (09:33.828)
You know what, that's a good answer.

Luciano (09:35.118)
As good enough as the reason that we're gonna get. Yeah

Joel (09:36.321)
I mean, I buy it.

Matt (09:38.995)
We'll just put it in a trailer so everyone knows what's gonna happen and no one can complain when they watch it.

Luciano (09:44.413)
Yeah, it's so dumb. you know, when Ross was talking about it in that presentation of his, it's more indestructible than vibranium. was like, oh, come on. How like this movie is one of those that caught like it treats its audience like we're idiots. And I guess we are because we're watching the movie. But I was so mad at that. I think

Matt (10:05.833)
Mm-hmm.

Joel (10:12.309)
Are you mad because adamantium is more indestructible than vibranium or just that...

Luciano (10:18.101)
No, because so

Matt (10:19.281)
Vibranium is indestructible, as we're told.

Luciano (10:22.03)
So more more indestructible is dumb. I wrote that down even when I was I like, how do you how do you maybe more like it's either you're indestructible or you're destructible

Joel (10:22.869)
So you have something that's more indestructible. Yeah, yeah.

Matt (10:25.001)
Yeah.

Joel (10:32.747)
So is vibranium's indestructible everything except andementium?

Matt (10:35.997)
Yeah, in theory, Wolverine could cut through caps shield like paper mache.

Luciano (10:41.058)
He has, right? He has in the comics.

Joel (10:41.184)
Yeah

Matt (10:43.129)
We had like comics whatever man. I don't know Sure, you know what? Yes, anything you can dream of I'm sure the comics did it because the comics have covered everything

Luciano (10:45.839)
I'm asking, actually. I remember seeing a scene where like, but yeah.

Luciano (10:54.316)
Yeah. But, but it was more because adamantium is like, okay, I'm going to get into briefly into the comics, like a little bit, just a little bit, a small one. It's as far as I remember adamantium was actually a response, like it was created because vibranium only exists in Wakanda and Wakanda controls it heavily. And they wanted something that was as powerful and indestructible.

Matt (11:02.885)
hey, are we having a little actually with Luciano? Okay. Yeah. Yeah.

Luciano (11:23.63)
So they created a dementia as like an alloy that there was, you know, researched wasn't like some fucking celestial died in the stupid polls. it was like, Oh, look, this is very, very nice. No, it's, it's, it's dumb.

Matt (11:37.993)
Do think the celestials are 100 % adamantium or like?

Luciano (11:42.046)
Yeah, except for the penis. Yeah

Joel (11:45.515)
except for the penis.

It's just old vibranium.

Luciano (11:51.547)
Penis is vibranium, exactly. It's brittle. It's all brittle vibranium. Yes. I think that's canon in the comics. Yeah.

Matt (11:53.973)
But it's old, so it's a little rusted or whatever. Yeah, that makes sense. When we were talking about this, it is not related to this at I remember that they're talking about they have Thunderbolt as the president of America and then they have a Takira Hiro as the president of Japan.

And then they have, harsh Nair as the president of India. And I was wondering why he looked exactly like Modri and yeah, Modri and the Japanese guy, maybe he does look like I just, he just didn't seem like he looked like him. Yeah. I'm sorry. The prime minister. Yeah. But like, I don't know why, why they went, they had to make him look like him. Yeah.

Joel (12:29.025)
That is a good question.

Luciano (12:29.238)
Mo- Yeah.

Luciano (12:35.47)
Well, the prime minister died recently, Yeah, Abe Shinzo.

Joel (12:35.477)
I don't even know what the Japanese president looks like anymore. Or prime minister.

Luciano (12:45.39)
Yeah, the guy looks exactly like Modi. I was like, oh, this is a bad thing.

Matt (12:50.301)
Yeah, would you watch this? They didn't put the fucking orange clown in this movie for America. I don't know why they had to.

Scott (12:56.136)
It's a red clown, this one.

Luciano (12:57.462)
Yeah, unhinged, you know, in different ways, but unhinged anyway. Yeah.

Matt (13:02.515)
fair. Yeah, maybe maybe he should have just terraced India and Japan to get that adamantium. Yeah, yeah. think that would have solves. Okay, great.

Luciano (13:08.539)
They should have tariffed the celestial yes Yeah, yeah

Scott (13:12.51)
That's the sequel coming out next.

Joel (13:14.017)
It is interesting that when they talk, yeah, because these are the world powers. It's France, India, Japan, and the US. Like, it's with a random set of superpowers.

Luciano (13:21.13)
Yeah, what like...

Yeah.

Scott (13:25.13)
global sponsorships whoever pays the most gets to be in the

Matt (13:26.596)
Yeah.

Luciano (13:27.806)
Yeah and it's in the Indian Ocean right so Australia doesn't give a shit even though it's in their backyard.

Joel (13:28.307)
I guess so,

Matt (13:34.907)
Famously, France cares a lot about what goes on in the Indian Ocean.

Joel (13:37.631)
Yeah, China doesn't care so much.

Luciano (13:38.094)
yeah, yeah.

Matt (13:40.731)
Now, turn on.

Luciano (13:41.308)
yeah, China shouldn't be there either. Of course not. Yeah. They don't care about, you know, resources or anything. Yeah.

Joel (13:47.829)
No, no.

Matt (13:48.393)
It's an interesting choice though, because I feel like they could have, they always like to shoehorn in China in a positive way so movies can go to China. But guess China's like not into watching Marvel movies or China's making their own movies now. So I, yeah, I would have thought they would have shoehorned China in to be honest. would have, maybe that's, I mean, that's fair. But Scott, Scott, know, we have a review at the end and we'll let you review it and give your score. So stay tuned. You don't know how low Scott can go. That's.

Luciano (14:00.654)
And yeah.

Scott (14:05.406)
I mean, no one should watch this movie, so.

Luciano (14:08.782)
You

Joel (14:13.535)
think we already know where it's trending.

Scott (14:17.748)
Ha ha.

Luciano (14:18.606)
To me, honestly, the thing that bothered me the most about this movie was the villain.

Matt (14:18.675)
That's the exciting part.

Joel (14:19.261)
Ha

Matt (14:25.639)
It was Sterns.

Joel (14:26.99)
Who was the villain or that Stearns was the villain that didn't?

Luciano (14:30.228)
No, the way that like the character of the villain is that it's a particular pet peeve of mine when the villain is like, I know everything and I can do everything and I control all of the stakes and like, in this one is even worse because there's like a bunch, were trying to get a little bit technical. were a bunch of heads of state there talk, talk about a treaty. That was the whole thing with the, have to sign the treaty, have to sign the treaty, blah, blah, blah, blah. And then.

Matt (14:53.993)
Mm-hmm.

Luciano (15:00.226)
clearly someone stages an assassination attempt, at least they think it's an assassination attempt where the people who are trying to assassinate were moving very, very slowly on purpose. Let's leave that alone. And then, okay, they get away. And then those very, very experienced politicians, were like, huh, I'm not going to sign this treaty that someone went out of their way to break. Because of course that's not what they wanted. Like it's so dumb. And then

They show at some point they show Sam looking at like Isaiah shooting at Ross and they were like, huh, he didn't try to kill him. He could have shot him right on the face, but he missed. I wonder why he would do that. It was so like, was like, like it's one thing to treat the viewers as dumb, but like to outright say that we're dumb, come on. Nobody.

Matt (15:29.737)
Okay.

Joel (15:44.425)
Yeah, that was completely unnecessary.

Matt (15:54.013)
Have a list.

Luciano (15:55.242)
Nobody noticed that was like, maybe they wanted to disrupt the treaty or the conversations or whatever. No, no, that cannot have been that.

Matt (16:03.161)
at least Ruth also investigated. So there was, you know, one less incompetent person in all the governments. was one smart government, two, I guess Sam's a government employee. So like two to three, but like all the rest of them, like no one in Japan figured it out. Yeah.

Luciano (16:11.886)
Just

Luciano (16:17.442)
Yeah. they were both like, what the hell? The thing with the light? And it's like, don't they know the story of Winter Soldier and how like the whole manipulator, I thought that that's what it was going to be. It was going to be like a Hydra thing again.

Matt (16:32.935)
Hey man, that's way too cool and in depth, so. And you could have used Winter Soldier in the movie in a meaningful way because of that.

Luciano (16:35.244)
and sensical.

Luciano (16:40.588)
Well, mean, Sebastian Stan also lauded her in this movie, like Liv Tyler did.

Scott (16:46.794)
I like how they identified that it was obviously a fake assassination attempt but left the guy in prison on death row for like the whole time. Like no, no, he's still our main culprit even though we know 100 % it wasn't him.

Luciano (16:51.798)
Yeah, yeah.

Matt (16:55.977)
Yeah.

Luciano (16:56.012)
Well, I mean, that is believable. This is the US and he is black.

Joel (16:59.317)
Yeah, yeah. Sadly.

Matt (17:00.477)
Well, actually, they wouldn't have left them in death row. They would have found a way to get them to El Salvador just to be safe.

Luciano (17:05.742)
Yeah, that's true. So I and I hate it because like, like Stern's knew the whole probabilities thing, which was like how do people know that probabilities requires like data to be calculated? I calculate how but he knew the probabilities of shit happening. It really does.

Matt (17:23.367)
No.

He's... he's... he's got Uggle Brain.

Joel (17:31.809)
I know the probability of me being randomly replaced as the villain about, you know, 50%, two thirds of the way through this movie and I'm just, you know, I turned myself in and it passed the torch to...

Matt (17:42.313)
Hey man, that was all part of his master plan that we never talked about or discussed after we got rid of him.

Luciano (17:42.43)
no, yeah.

Yeah And he like he could hack into any conversation that people were having like two or three times in this movie like someone was in the phone with someone else or in a like a headset with someone else and he said just starts talking so Yeah, see you fell for my trap. What trap? Who are you? Like what the fuck? It's yeah, sir. This is a Wendy's

Joel (18:00.993)
Yeah, yeah, yeah, that was...

Matt (18:09.885)
How'd you get this phone number?

Luciano (18:15.734)
Yeah, it's so like an and it gets worse as it goes, right? It feels it feels like it feels like no, doesn't feel like it's clearly a rushed thing with the script, right? They had like Scott said they had, we want that Red Hulk. How can we get to the Red Hulk? Hmm. I know. Let's make a Captain America movie. What?

Matt (18:37.159)
Yeah, it's, you do bring up a good point. Like, why do you think they put Captain America in the Red Hulk movie?

Luciano (18:45.422)
I like how you phrased that.

Joel (18:46.697)
And why did the Red Hulk only show up for the last like, you know, 20 minutes of the Red Hulk movie?

Matt (18:51.293)
Yeah, but they told us he was in the movie also. They gave us the expectation that it was going to be movie with the Red Hulk, but it really wasn't.

Luciano (18:55.447)
Yeah.

Scott (19:01.312)
Do think this is Harrison Ford's like dying wish? Like he's just like, want to be in the MCU as a Hulk. Like quick film it, film it, film it. And then just figure the rest out after.

Joel (19:05.195)
I want to be in an imp...

Matt (19:06.864)
I be Red Hulk.

Luciano (19:07.598)
I wanna do everything that Disney does. I wanna do Indiana Jones, I wanna do Star Wars, wanna do... What else is it be on?

Joel (19:18.037)
And I want to make sure that most of the last ones I do with all these are crappy movies.

Luciano (19:22.467)
Yes.

Matt (19:23.549)
Yeah.

Scott (19:25.408)
Who's the other guy who's in Armageddon? It's the same effect.

Joel (19:30.475)
Willis.

Scott (19:31.232)
Bruce Willis. This is the Bruce Willis effect where it's just like every movie at the end is just neeeh.

Matt (19:34.153)
Yeah, we're not allowed to use Bruce Willis. So we're using Harrison Ford. Yeah, because he's, I don't think he can talk anymore, technically. But I think so. Yeah. Yeah, maybe.

Joel (19:35.03)
just

Why? he's... yeah, huh.

Luciano (19:43.202)
Was it that bad? Yeah. Well, I was honestly concerned. Like not that I thought Harrison Ford was going to do like action scenes, like taken three style, or is like a six second scene. There's like 17 cuts. didn't think that that was going to be the case, but I was like, is it going to be convincing? And actually, yeah, it was actually very convincing. Probably he was probably the best thing about this movie.

Joel (19:44.833)
I think so, yeah.

Matt (20:12.592)
Yeah, I mean, I think.

Joel (20:13.857)
Didn't he just reprise? What was that movie where he was the president and he kicks ass as the terrorist? Air Force One.

Matt (20:17.792)
Air Force One.

Luciano (20:18.296)
There's so many, there's so many movies where it's the present. Yeah.

Scott (20:20.362)
That's a movie.

Matt (20:21.041)
Get off my plane! I mean yeah that's yeah Jack Ryan he was Jack Ryan for a couple movies

Joel (20:22.526)
Yeah

Luciano (20:25.325)
Yeah.

Joel (20:29.237)
Yeah, he was that,

Luciano (20:29.315)
Yeah?

Luciano (20:32.653)
But I don't understand any, like the thinking process about like putting the script together is like, okay, it's gonna be a Captain America movie. We're gonna call it Brave New World, but it's actually a Red Hulk movie. And even though it's called Brave New World, nothing's gonna change. I'm sorry, what? Yeah, yeah.

Matt (20:41.956)
Mm-hmm.

Scott (20:50.016)
What is the brave new or world part of this movie?

Joel (20:50.047)
I think your problem is...

That's a good question. Yeah, I don't know.

Matt (20:55.945)
Well, Sam has no power, so I guess it's brave to fight the Red Hull.

Luciano (21:00.606)
brave stupid. Give me both.

Scott (21:01.536)
Okay.

Matt (21:02.601)
Yeah.

Scott (21:06.464)
It's like the Brave New World is supposed to be the new Avengers group that never, like just the idea of it was introduced.

Luciano (21:06.573)
What's new?

Matt (21:10.642)
No, he-

Joel (21:11.169)
They had to drop it in there that it's coming.

Matt (21:15.003)
He got, he's got Redwing and, his, Joaquin Torres, his replacement for, Falcon.

Luciano (21:15.758)
Well, yeah, because there's an Avengers movie coming.

Joel (21:17.781)
Yeah, yeah, 2026.

Joel (21:25.526)
Falcon.

Luciano (21:26.168)
Falcon?

Yeah.

Matt (21:29.491)
So that's, there you go, there's the Avengers. Betty Ross is back, toss her in there.

Luciano (21:32.782)
I wish they would recruit Harrison Ford, like, Thaddeus Ross as the Hulk. It would be amazing. Just the grumpiest Hulk that has ever grumpied.

Matt (21:46.665)
And you can just, you, well, what if you leave him as a red Hulk? So you just pay Harrison Ford for his likeness and he doesn't really have to act.

Joel (21:46.785)
How do you know they're not going to? It's anything as possible, I think.

Scott (21:49.706)
The D Team.

Luciano (21:56.138)
Yeah, and then he doesn't even have to go. Hey, hey, Ross, how come you never transformed back? Money reasons.

Scott (22:07.07)
I'm always angry.

Luciano (22:11.468)
Yeah, I don't know it pissed me off the whole like Like two-thirds into the movie one turn into the movie started to nosedive from not very far high And it just got worse and I just got pissed me just pissed me off

Matt (22:12.701)
So.

Matt (22:28.361)
Okay, so I'm gonna ask someone else their opinion now if that's cool. Okay. I'm curious what Scott or Joel think about Giancarlo Esposito being in this movie because I like him. He's a fun actor. I think he's really good at what he does, but...

Luciano (22:30.826)
No, so I okay go ahead

Joel (22:32.308)
Hahaha

Luciano (22:36.842)
Wow, I see.

Joel (22:46.719)
I think he's like the Liam Neeson of bad guys. He's obviously done the stuff with the Mandalorian. He's done this. He was in Electric State. He's got that typecast down. So if you need to find someone who's been taken, in Liam Neeson's case, this is the Giancarlo Stanton, or not Giancarlo Stanton, Esposito. He's a baseball player.

Matt (23:06.088)
Ha ha ha.

The bass bump flair?

Luciano (23:10.318)
Who is John Carlin Stanton? God.

Joel (23:16.373)
Honestly, I didn't even know his name. I know I see him in everything. I had to look up his name. I'm like, I know that guy. I've seen him in everything.

Matt (23:21.929)
He's also the villain in one of the Far Cry video games.

Luciano (23:22.006)
I just call him Gus Fring.

Joel (23:28.725)
What?

Luciano (23:29.262)
Yeah, Far Cry 6. He's like a drug lord or something.

Matt (23:31.431)
Yeah, yeah, he's like.

Joel (23:33.437)
He's done a looked at him. He's done a shockingly large number of things, even though I've not seen him in anything. I don't feel like until like the last five years. That's where I've really noticed him.

Matt (23:43.645)
Yeah, he's like, it's like he came back to acting in a way if that makes sense. Like I know he's acting the whole time, but like, he just, yeah, that's really what brought him back, yeah.

Luciano (23:50.488)
Well, his breakthrough was Breaking Bad, yeah.

Joel (23:50.709)
He wasn't breaking bad. Yeah.

Matt (23:57.801)
Cause I'm just looking at it as a thing now before that, like he was active, but I don't remember seeing any of these things.

Scott (24:07.306)
Yeah, I find that the more you see the same actor in so many movies, you start to lose that ability to separate them from the character. And it's just like, this is not, can't consider him this bad guy or this person more. like, you're the generic guy, this one. You're the Chris Pratt of villains in this case.

Luciano (24:16.568)
Yeah.

Joel (24:19.585)
Yeah.

Luciano (24:27.084)
Well, that's mean because he's a much better actor than Chris Pratt, but.

Scott (24:30.602)
But you're in everything. You're just a superhero generic guy in this movie.

Matt (24:33.929)
But you're not wrong because we watched Electric State for the last episode and Joel's on that one, you're right. Like there's really no difference between that character. Yeah.

Luciano (24:43.102)
No, the accent is the only difference.

Joel (24:43.978)
No.

And there's no difference between his character and Mandalorian, really. A little bit, maybe. Maybe a little bit, but...

Matt (24:50.693)
Now, a little.

Luciano (24:50.89)
Well, I mean, there's a there's a there's a lightsaber difference, but beyond that.

Matt (24:56.105)
At least that character seemed to have like a...

Joel (25:01.185)
I would have loved though if they just all of a sudden did he just pulls on he just pulls out a lightsaber in that battle scene with Captain America just like how many people they're pissed off.

Luciano (25:05.998)
Yeah, that would have been great. Come at me motherfucker!

Matt (25:08.797)
Let's see how indestructible vibranium is.

Joel (25:14.561)
Ha

Luciano (25:14.955)
Yeah.

Imagine that's how they set up a crossover between Marvel and Star Wars.

Matt (25:22.878)
Perfect.

Joel (25:22.913)
Man, it would drive the the hardcore those the try the Star Wars for nice and MC you guys crazy Crazy. that's not how it will work. The technology would never do that

Luciano (25:27.047)
yes.

Matt (25:29.161)
What

Scott (25:29.258)
They don't have enough actors.

Matt (25:31.795)
So.

What'd say Scott?

Scott (25:37.312)
They don't have enough actors. They already exist in both worlds. They have no one they can pull from.

Matt (25:39.977)
It's true.

Luciano (25:40.438)
Yes, that's true.

Joel (25:40.801)
That's the new Avengers though, that's how they don't need D characters, just bring in all the Star Wars characters.

Luciano (25:44.096)
Yeah, the new Avengers is is Joaquin Torres with one wing. Captain America with no powers. Luke, Leia and Yoda. That's Grogu. Yeah, Grogu. Sorry. I'm sorry. And the ghost of Leia. Yeah.

Matt (25:52.137)
Grogu, not Yoda. Yeah, we got a feel to the kids. Yeah, that's fair. Is it cool to have a black Hulk or is that just like, yeah, well, we got a green and a red one, but like.

Joel (25:52.801)
you

Luciano (26:07.436)
I think it's too on the nose.

Yeah, but then it's still in the nose is what I'm saying.

Matt (26:13.777)
Yeah. If you didn't Carlos Stanton, that's Joel Carlson. It's the black cock. That feels a little too on the nose.

Joel (26:17.441)
I hate you.

Luciano (26:17.87)
Hahaha!

Yeah.

Joel (26:22.421)
Yeah, maybe.

Matt (26:24.051)
Fair enough. I think I have some fun questions for you guys because we're treading on, we're not treading on them, but we really want to get into them pushing towards them. So let's answer some of the questions that the fans of this movie, if there are any, want answered. think the first one is pretty, a pretty simple question. We see Sam Wilson in Captain America. I mean, he's, he looks like Captain America. He shows no differences and they make it a point in the movie.

Luciano (26:38.262)
Of course.

Matt (26:52.521)
to be like, have no powers, basically. how do powers work? What are his powers?

Luciano (26:54.862)
Yeah.

Luciano (27:01.602)
That's a good question.

Scott (27:03.616)
Is there any way to tell in the movie who has powers? Like he fought that big security guy at the beginning. I'm like, which one of them has powers? If he doesn't have powers, we got the super suit. He's still toe to toe with this regular human guy who's just big and bulky and they're having a fair fight.

Luciano (27:16.364)
Yeah, it's true. It like, here's randall number three. He was going to try to take on the cap. What? Yeah.

Matt (27:24.374)
Yeah.

Luciano (27:25.112)
So think his powers are First, plot armor 100 %

Matt (27:29.769)
Mm-hmm. Important. That's the stuff that the Wakanans gave him. Yeah.

Luciano (27:36.62)
Yeah, yes, yes it is. It's in this suit. Yeah, it's called plot armor. Apparently somewhat impervious to stabbing wounds. It got stabbed in the gut, got stabbed in the chest, got stabbed in whatever.

Matt (27:39.635)
Yeah, exactly.

Scott (27:53.894)
He had the vest, the what are we called Kevlar vibranium Vlar vest.

Joel (27:56.201)
Yeah, he had the Kevlar or whatever. which you

Luciano (27:59.054)
I mean, he was still bleeding. Vibranium Vlar, nice.

Joel (28:02.155)
Yeah, his t-shirt or dry fit shirt was laced, know, woven with Kevlar, laced, laced.

Luciano (28:06.862)
Laced with vibranium. He snorts it. That's his power. His power is the ability to snort vibranium from his shirt. There you go. Now we're cooking. He's like high.

Matt (28:09.161)
So his Under Armour Kevlar Vibranium shirt.

Scott (28:12.606)
He's microdosing.

Joel (28:14.729)
Yeah, that's I'm trying bring up.

Matt (28:18.409)
Actually that explains why he heals or doesn't feel pain. He's just snorting vibranium. Yeah. Okay. That'd be great. And then like the power of discus? I don't know. Like he throws his shield better than Captain America ever could. Yeah. Yeah. Maybe, maybe Scott's right. He's just really good at algebra.

Joel (28:25.877)
How awesome would that be? It's normal vibranium.

Luciano (28:34.19)
yeah. He played Ricochet a lot. Yeah.

Scott (28:35.336)
math skills. How do you calculate that?

Scott (28:43.06)
Does he have a super brain? Like how does he figure out the angles of it bouncing from a different room? Or is the shield smart? Yeah, or is the little robot inside of it?

Luciano (28:47.242)
It's ultimate frisbee. It's from ultimate frisbee. Off missiles and like, mock like five speed just bouncing them and catching it again.

Matt (28:48.966)
off off missiles

Matt (28:58.121)
Could it be that Redwing, his little robot, is actually controlling him?

Luciano (29:04.617)
Like Ratatouille.

Joel (29:06.472)
I read that too.

Matt (29:07.975)
Hahaha

Luciano (29:09.161)
okay, I'm here for it, yeah.

Matt (29:11.281)
Yeah

Joel (29:12.865)
Another character that's going to be in the next Avengers is Ratatouille.

Luciano (29:13.164)
That makes more sense than anything else. Well, the food's gonna be good.

Joel (29:18.657)
Yeah, yeah.

Matt (29:21.235)
You

Scott (29:21.29)
I would explain the whole movie like that's why he's that's why he's Captain America because it's just red whatever his name is the whole time Red Wing. Red Wing is Captain America. Sam is just the body suit being puppeted around.

Luciano (29:23.264)
Yeah, I think you're onto something, Matt.

Matt (29:28.093)
Right, right away.

Luciano (29:28.141)
Red Wing.

Joel (29:28.747)
Red Wing.

Luciano (29:34.414)
That makes sense. That would explain like the super difficult like geometry calculations.

Matt (29:37.63)
Yeah.

Joel (29:38.119)
And we're done.

Matt (29:43.209)
Yeah, AI could take care of that.

All right.

Luciano (29:48.459)
I think that's it. Plot armor and being a meat puppet. There you go. Those are his powers. And sniffy vibranium. I'm sorry.

Matt (29:52.743)
Well, sniffing vibranium. It sounds like he's a little like Bane. He's like a cross between Ratatouille and Bane, where he sniffs vibranium to get going.

Joel (29:54.741)
Don't forget the, yeah, exactly, the sniffing of the...

Luciano (30:01.006)
Woo! Let's go!

Joel (30:04.481)
Ha ha.

Matt (30:08.189)
Yeah. All right. No, let's get it. Let me clear that up. Different question, very simple. Sidewinder, we've talked a bit about him. I want to know more about Sidewinder. So who's Sidewinder, how Sidewinder, why Sidewinder, where Sidewinder, when Sidewinder?

Luciano (30:08.812)
Yeah, I think you nailed it,

Luciano (30:25.56)
How, Sidewinder?

Matt (30:26.685)
How Sidewinder, I think I said that, but how Sidewinder throw it in the gun? I just have many questions about Sidewinder because he just shows up and he stole adamantium, I guess because Stearns told him to, and then he gets captured, but then gets escaped or gets killed. I don't remember the movie to that much, but no. Well, Stearns comes and kills all those random soldier people we talked to for no reason.

Luciano (30:28.567)
Okay.

Joel (30:46.305)
don't think he dies anywhere, he just kind of disappears.

Matt (30:55.574)
I wonder how to escape at that point.

Joel (30:57.737)
He said he was going to escape, but he just disappears. You just don't hear from him again.

Luciano (31:02.122)
Yeah, he leaves fucking what's his face the the big bulky guy to fight cap runs away comes back from the middle of nowhere to shoot and throw grenades at at Sam and gets his ass handed to him captured and then held in some place until he can go be interrogated and get a better sentence. That's it.

Matt (31:11.623)
Yep, Copperhead.

Matt (31:22.899)
Mm-hmm.

Luciano (31:31.723)
and become Mr. Exposition. Apparently.

Scott (31:32.16)
Does Cap have that power to have like, he's a judge now?

Joel (31:35.393)
I think he's got unlimited powers.

Luciano (31:38.144)
Apparently. Maybe it's a side effect of sniffing vibranium.

Matt (31:41.949)
think it comes with significant vibrating.

Luciano (31:43.788)
Yeah.

Yeah, so he's like... don't believe in that character, that he would be dumb enough to try to go against Captain America, one on one. Because at first you see that he's like, I'm not gonna fight this guy, I'm gonna leave this other guy to fight him and find... That makes sense. But then he comes back, he's like, no, you know what? I'm gonna be dumb. I'm gonna fight the superhero.

Matt (31:46.185)
Joel (31:46.859)
So it's.

Matt (32:11.507)
But to Scott, go ahead, Joel.

Joel (32:14.817)
I think that the producers of this movie just looked around and said, you know what, John Carlos Stanton. John Carlos Stanton, this guy here, he's got something. He's got something special. He's been in all these great, great movies. Let's just create a character that fits him. It has nothing to do with the character. They just picked an actor and picked what they wanted.

Luciano (32:21.006)
Stanton.

Scott (32:39.656)
He was probably at the studio on lunch or something. Like, hey, come over here for a minute. Because he's not in that much, right?

Luciano (32:42.782)
Ha

Joel (32:42.823)
Yeah, yeah, exactly. That's true. He said.

Matt (32:43.465)
Maybe, okay.

Luciano (32:47.424)
You're not

Joel (32:52.961)
Uhhhh

Matt (32:52.979)
Wow. Absolutely not. No, never. Well, you shouldn't. That joke was about as good as this movie that tells you where you're at. Yeah. I just, his character, mean, we're going to talk about this probably later, but his character just seemed like it didn't matter. And maybe that's a flaw for the entire movie, but.

Luciano (33:02.827)
So it's appropriate then.

Luciano (33:17.057)
Yeah.

Joel (33:17.364)
I think that's true.

Scott (33:19.168)
that the characters mattered in any way, shape or form.

Luciano (33:20.718)
Except except for Red Hulk at the end

Matt (33:20.753)
Yeah.

Scott (33:24.628)
Didn't really make a difference to anything.

Joel (33:25.205)
Kind of? Really though? Yeah.

Luciano (33:26.798)
That's... yeah, it's just cool, I guess.

Joel (33:29.459)
It was just, yeah, just cool.

Matt (33:30.569)
Yeah. Yeah, just cool. Hey, speaking about characters, I don't understand. Who Joaquin Torres? Why Joaquin Torres? How Joaquin Torres? When Joaquin Torres? Where Joaquin Torres? And just in case you're like Spencer Torres, Phoenix. Yeah, sorry. That's right. Joaquin Torres is in case you are like Spencer and forget who's in this movie.

Luciano (33:40.194)
Hahaha!

Joel (33:44.373)
Joaquin Phoenix. Joaquin Phoenix and Giancarlo Stanton. I've got all these guys down.

Luciano (33:48.344)
Fucking Phoenix!

Matt (33:58.845)
He is the replacement for the Winter Soldier and he is going to be the next Falcon, assuming he gets his wings back. Yeah.

Luciano (34:04.824)
survives.

Scott (34:06.784)
So he's like, pigeon. He's like Robin to Falcon.

Matt (34:09.297)
Yeah, sure.

Luciano (34:09.4)
Sure.

Joel (34:10.145)
So he's not Falcon yet. He's only Falcon if he proves himself in this movie. He graduates to Falcon level.

Luciano (34:12.302)
Quail, not pigeon, quail.

Matt (34:15.977)
I guess I think maybe he did graduate. I don't I didn't pay that much attention to it at the end But I just want to know his deal because he shows up he's What because he shows up in the movie right and he's just on the support plane that's flying with Captain America when he Dorando soldier And he's just like supporting him. He's all hyped. He's like, you know, he's like a millennial Excited excitable bro. It's like alright. Well, whatever

Joel (34:24.255)
He's a producer, so you're good.

Luciano (34:33.976)
Just a random soldier, apparently.

Luciano (34:45.43)
Millennial show your age Matt calling him millennial

Matt (34:45.649)
And then, and then he makes it right. And then, and then I don't know, man, what's, what's after that? Jen, Jen, why Jen said, and then he just, all of a sudden he's got wings. He puts the wings on to go get the sample for adamantium. And then later he's hacking into everywhere to find information about what happened to, or why Isaiah did what he did. And then he's slot.

Joel (34:50.177)
Thanks

Luciano (34:53.262)
Z

Joel (34:54.003)
See.

Luciano (35:01.9)
Yeah.

Luciano (35:10.178)
Like fighting a bunch of people.

Matt (35:11.817)
Yeah, then he's fighting a bunch of people, then he's flying through airspace and getting hit by missiles, but apparently surviving that and surviving smashing into the ocean at thousands of miles per hour, or maybe hundreds, I don't know how fast the human body can go.

Luciano (35:25.294)
Neither does the people who made this movie, so you're okay.

Matt (35:29.231)
So like, I just want to know who, what, why, when, how.

Joel (35:33.397)
Well, how snorted vibranium? I think we've already established that that is the most logical.

Matt (35:36.425)
That's a fair point. So does Redwing slash Cap only give him a little bit and then he's hooked? He has to stick around to get his vibranium hit?

Joel (35:46.753)
Sure, that's, yeah.

Luciano (35:46.83)
That makes sense. So wait, wait, are you saying that Cap is his dealer?

Matt (35:54.281)
Redwing, technically, but share a cap.

Joel (35:55.657)
Right,

Scott (35:55.904)
Well, no, the Wakandans are the dealers.

Luciano (35:56.002)
Yeah, that is Redwing.

Matt (35:58.985)
Ooh, goes all the way to the top.

Luciano (36:02.816)
I see. And maybe they have, Ooh, maybe they have him as like a plant cause they're worried about the sedimentium thing. They might lose, you know, clientele. Yeah. It's a market share when you're a drug lord. It's more like clientele. Yeah. So maybe they were worried. Maybe that's what he's like that he's pretending to be like the Falcom. He's pretending to be like the good guy, but he is there.

Scott (36:13.853)
a chair.

Matt (36:17.737)
Have you ever sniffed out a mantium? Woo doggie!

Luciano (36:31.874)
to keep an eye on things.

maybe he was high on vibranium when he threw himself against the missile and thinking I'm good this is gonna I'm I got I got this

Matt (36:42.745)
I mean it helps it helps cap heal from all them stabbing so maybe thought When he got stabbed by the fucking ocean of its heal him

Luciano (36:45.814)
Yeah, so there you go. Yeah.

Luciano (36:50.062)
Yeah, I think it's a plan from the Wakandans to keep an eye on Cap. That's what it is.

Matt (36:55.145)
Okay, wait. So, so Redwing, or as I'm trying not to call him,

Right wing. Red wing is the American like puppet. And then we have Joaquin Torres as

Luciano (37:06.158)
Right, right wing? No, no, no, no, no.

Joel (37:06.239)
right wing.

Luciano (37:16.983)
Yeah, exactly.

Matt (37:19.559)
That makes sense. all right, no, no further questions on that one. Hey, why is the red Hulk red? And I know there are common book reasons, but just going from the information as movie presents us. Why red?

Luciano (37:21.549)
Yep.

Scott (37:39.048)
Even the movie doesn't know because they're like they come in red, right? They even bring that up as no one in the movie understands why he's red.

Luciano (37:44.584)
Yeah, they come in red as if you're looking at fucking paint. I was like, what?

Scott (37:50.58)
Yeah, it's a totally normal thing to see a different color talk. there's just a red one now. Let's collect them all.

Luciano (37:53.539)
Yeah.

Luciano (37:57.499)
maybe that's why. Yeah.

Joel (37:58.347)
That's a good, yeah, you sell some different toys, right?

Scott (38:01.475)
Yeah, you bought you like the green Hulk hands. Here's some red Hulk hands next month purple hands

Joel (38:04.129)
Coca-Cola. I think it's Coca-Cola, like obviously.

Luciano (38:05.246)
God damn it, now I have to buy a whole new set.

Matt (38:09.033)
He's got a big Coca-Cola branding on his back.

Scott (38:09.9)
Hahaha

Luciano (38:10.818)
Joe's on to something.

Like a like a NASCAR car like a NASCAR car only in his on his back like

Joel (38:14.645)
I mean, Santa Claus, Red Hulk, they're all kind of in the same.

Matt (38:17.009)
Yeah, He's got whatever, whatever. Yeah, whatever, whatever company is really like red is their major color. He has them all over his body. like Chick-fil-A, drink Coca-Cola.

Joel (38:21.889)
Just drink coke.

Luciano (38:30.734)
So does that mean that Bruce Banner gets like what Mountain Dew?

Matt (38:34.715)
Mountain Dew, yeah, but he's code red. Mountain Dew's got it on both ends. Yeah.

Luciano (38:38.798)
smart smart. So the answer to your question is capitalism.

Joel (38:44.267)
Yes.

Matt (38:45.287)
Wow, so wait a second. Is he for or trying to crush capitalism?

Luciano (38:46.414)
Yes, whoever pays the most so guess is for capitalism is what I'm saying

Matt (38:58.129)
So even though red is the color of two of US's greatest rivals who are very anti capitalism, this red Hulk is actually pro. Okay. Red's the color of capitalism.

Luciano (38:58.955)
Meh.

Luciano (39:06.7)
Yes. They're trying to take red back. That's what they're doing. Red and white and blue.

Matt (39:16.265)
Okay.

Joel (39:16.319)
And it's also the color of the Republicans. yeah. Right wing's back. There you go, right wing.

Luciano (39:20.654)
is that why is he like a is that right wing Hulk? Is he being controlled by Redwing too?

Matt (39:21.445)
Right wing's back.

Matt (39:27.303)
Yeah.

Matt (39:31.547)
I I don't, I don't, want to say yes, but there's a reason why a calf doesn't die.

Luciano (39:36.814)
it's all conspiracy.

Matt (39:39.207)
And it's not because Betty Ross shows up and then it melts his, wait, it freezes his hot, heart. Cause they do say he's extra hot, right?

Joel (39:47.157)
He's extra hot. Yeah, you see him burning things and starting fires.

Luciano (39:47.287)
Yeah.

I mean, she doesn't even really show like I was expecting her to show for it was expecting for her to be the one to bring him down from from being hooked. Like, no, no, it's just cherry blossoms and the sweet dulcet tones of Anthony Mackie, bring him down.

Joel (39:56.577)
That's what I thought too, yeah exactly, common.

Matt (40:03.333)
It is beautiful in Washington when the cherry blossoms are out. So I've heard I've never been, but I don't know. It was CGI'd well.

Luciano (40:10.1)
Okay, yeah, that makes sense. Yeah, so yeah, he's red because of capitalism and also Red Wing.

Joel (40:10.933)
Look like it.

Matt (40:18.5)
capitalism. Yeah, that's fair. Redwing would do that. Hey, since apparently adamantium showed up in the celestials, why were the celestials hoarding all of the adamantium?

Joel (40:19.211)
capitalism.

Luciano (40:24.172)
You would. As a bastard.

Joel (40:43.477)
Did they know that they were?

Matt (40:46.395)
I don't give follow up answers to my questions, I let you decide yourself. See if you want them to know, go with it.

Joel (40:50.785)
I think they didn't know. It was just kind one of those things that just kind of surprised them. And now they're kicking themselves for not being in on the Antimantium dealing.

Scott (41:04.16)
Is it like human skin to them? Like there's this collection of God skin in the earth and they're just like, don't touch that. Just leave it there until it arises.

Matt (41:04.294)
Ha ha.

Matt (41:15.069)
That's fair, okay.

Luciano (41:15.694)
It's like, no, that's a growth. I don't want to, I don't want that at all. I don't want to get close to that at all. This is disgusting.

Scott (41:19.355)
Right to them.

Joel (41:19.797)
Hahaha.

Matt (41:20.969)
So basically this one celestial has like celestial cancer and it's just adamantium I Can see that Yeah That actually makes a lot of sense so that's why like okay so now we can kill celestial's with celestial cancer, yeah Sorry checks out I guess Well, I mean this one didn't make it

Luciano (41:26.902)
Yeah, exactly. And it's adamantium. Yeah. There you go. Metastasized all over the Indian Ocean. There you go.

Joel (41:29.653)
The mandium tumor. my goodness.

Luciano (41:43.982)
Or maybe it doesn't kill them. Maybe it them stronger.

Scott (41:48.638)
Does it like, is it fancy to the Celestials? Do they think it's like a super material? don't think they talked about it all in the movie.

Matt (41:55.461)
No. Well, they didn't even mention the Celestials. They just said, hey, there's adamantium in...

Luciano (41:56.043)
No.

They say it's Celestial Island. Yeah.

Scott (41:58.569)
Right. So it's like it's just dirt to them. So yeah, it's our we make our we make our roads out of this stuff.

Joel (42:01.985)
It's just we knew.

Vibranium Sol 2005, we got to come up with a new metal, so let's reintroduce adamantium.

Matt (42:12.647)
Yep.

Luciano (42:14.252)
I mean, they already had a Dementium in the multiverse, right? So is it all Celestials everywhere? other realities are just fucking murdering Celestials left and right for a Dementium?

Matt (42:21.843)
Sure.

Matt (42:35.365)
And how did Wolverine get his adamantium?

Luciano (42:39.842)
Joel said it. was taking a bath in a celestial brain and that's what happened. Yeah. That is like, yeah, everybody knows it. Yeah.

Matt (42:45.527)
yeah, that's right. That is canon. As everybody knows. Everybody knows that. My bad. I'm sorry I asked that question again.

Joel (42:48.129)
to this canon.

Luciano (42:54.156)
Yeah.

Matt (42:55.177)
Okay, no, that makes sense. It's it's just gross. Celestial. Yeah.

Luciano (43:01.228)
Yeah, exactly. They don't want it. maybe it's just like a shell, like a cicada.

Joel (43:08.991)
They just get rid of it and molt whatever it is.

Luciano (43:12.202)
And yeah, yeah, they're molting.

Matt (43:12.489)
Molten off. So, so like we're gonna work like clearly the humans are gonna take it and make weapons out of it. But it's like if a cicada took his shell off and then made like a cicada helm like a helmet and a shield out of his own shell.

Luciano (43:27.446)
Yeah, exactly.

Joel (43:29.021)
or grounded up so people get snorted.

Matt (43:31.384)
yeah, that's very important.

Luciano (43:32.558)
Yeah, you can lace t-shirts with it apparently.

Matt (43:35.975)
Yeah, yeah, definitely.

Joel (43:36.019)
I have least t-shirts.

Matt (43:40.745)
All right, now this all makes sense to me. Okay, thank you for answering that. This might not be a funny question, but I gots to know.

Matt (43:52.967)
Why did Samuel Stearns just show up in Washington to have like a fucking epic tale to tell Sam and then just get arrested, just vanish.

Scott (44:04.8)
of his master plan. He's exactly where he wants to be.

Joel (44:07.401)
I think that's,

Matt (44:08.241)
Can you, great, I love this answer. Can you elaborate on what his master plan was for the rest of us?

Scott (44:13.652)
Yeah, it'll be in part two of the movie, which will come out eventually, and then they'll never tell us anything, and it'll be a terrible movie just like this one.

Matt (44:19.152)
Do what do what do

Joel (44:20.009)
It feels like he will combine with Sidewinder because Sidewinder kind of ended up with the same fate, He ends up at jail but you don't really know what happens to him so the two of them are plotting behind the scenes.

Matt (44:30.151)
Right, so they're revengers?

Joel (44:32.383)
The Revengers, yeah. There we go, 2028.

Luciano (44:33.304)
The revengers,

You

Scott (44:37.957)
He looked kind of homeless. Maybe he just wanted a place to sleep and get some good ramen or something.

Matt (44:41.961)
Well, he didn't have a home, he lived in that. Yeah.

Luciano (44:42.156)
That's true. He looked like he was falling apart. Like one eye to one side, the other eye just roaming somewhere else. Maybe he just went in a place to coast, like to lay down. This whole movie is just an allegory for long COVID.

Matt (44:51.933)
He got COVID. He got COVID while he was in the camp. It's ravaged him. Yeah. Yeah.

Joel (44:53.537)
He got COVID.

Joel (44:58.635)
Wasn't he isolated though in that jail?

Matt (45:04.349)
That's, you know what, COVID wasn't found in Wuhan, it was found in... Yeah, yeah, you get it.

Joel (45:07.937)
Oh, it was sound. Yeah, I gotcha.

Luciano (45:09.386)
In Camp Echo 1. Yes. that explains it.

Matt (45:14.217)
And he shipped it to Wuhan to get everybody off the set, but not before he gave it to himself.

Luciano (45:21.644)
Like all good scientists, experimented on himself first many times before he went, well, this doesn't feel good. Maybe I shouldn't.

Matt (45:22.889)
Yeah, Well, he's a genius. He knew the probability of him getting sick long term from this was like 78%. Worth the risk.

Luciano (45:34.222)
I like those, never tell me the odds. Yeah, I think that tracks. Yeah, he was...

Matt (45:37.164)
Yeah.

Luciano (45:46.552)
He dying. He was dying from long COVID.

Matt (45:47.879)
Yep.

Joel (45:50.113)
You shine for a long time.

Luciano (45:53.668)
Just wanted the attention in these final days.

Matt (45:56.595)
Should he have sniffed some vibranium without having solved his problems? Yeah. But he doesn't know that.

Luciano (45:58.574)
100 % 100 % yeah no he's surprisingly square he doesn't like mind altering drugs except for gamma radiation yeah

Matt (46:03.571)
Shit.

Matt (46:09.371)
Absolutely. That's, yeah, everybody gets high on that.

Luciano (46:12.846)
Apparently in this movie they do. They put them in heart pills, they put them in, I don't know, bath water, I don't know. Yeah.

Matt (46:22.365)
It's a cure-all. It's like, what is it, fallout? With the anti-RAD, yeah, the anti-RAD medication. Yeah, it just fixes everything. It's all just radiation. Okay. Hey, Ruth shows up and is, I guess she works for the government, right? She works for the president. Yeah. Well, maybe, Secret Service.

Luciano (46:29.474)
With Nuka Cola? anti-red, yeah, anti-red, yeah, yeah, yeah.

Yeah, that tracks.

Luciano (46:45.678)
She's a security advisor, yeah.

Joel (46:46.593)
Is she a security advisor or a secret service?

Matt (46:52.165)
And she's like investigating on her own and we find out that she's like ex Red Room. Right? How did she get excommunicated from the Red Room?

Scott (47:06.922)
Didn't they kill the leader of that in one of the other movies?

Luciano (47:09.868)
Yeah, but now it's Natasha is the leader of the Red Room.

Matt (47:12.017)
I'm not sure if that was John Wick or if it was one or the other. Yeah, same, same.

Joel (47:15.745)
I'm wick.

Luciano (47:16.734)
Same world, property. How was she kicked?

Matt (47:21.693)
Yeah, now it was was it was the standalone Black Widow movie where they killed that guy. Yeah.

Joel (47:21.867)
We are really filling out this Avenger cast. Star Wars.

Scott (47:27.358)
Yeah, you just walked out after that. Okay, I'm done now.

Matt (47:31.417)
So she's not ex so much as like there's no more red room. So she's just like needed a home and the closest thing Yeah

Joel (47:36.575)
And she really, and she knows that Ross is the Red Hulk. So she's infiltrated there to try and keep an eye on him.

Scott (47:37.022)
they've repainted.

Luciano (47:44.618)
Is it because it's like Red Room, Red Hulk? She's like,

Joel (47:47.898)
Lake Red, Coca-Cola.

Matt (47:49.043)
Comfort.

Luciano (47:49.774)
One more time. Yeah, that makes sense too. Yeah. There you go. Yeah. I know she was an incompetent widow because like when the one of the guys like payumo was like he was gonna shoot the guys in the cell. Stop! What are you doing? Don't do that! No! What are you doing? Wait, I'm gonna shoot! No! Don't do that! fuck, he killed them.

Matt (47:54.309)
OK, yeah.

Matt (48:07.335)
Yeah.

Matt (48:13.193)
It's a lot less a widow than the other ones, so.

Scott (48:13.504)
Please don't stop.

Luciano (48:17.248)
Yeah, I was like, is she gonna do anything? No, she's gonna watch. Okay. Okay. I see. see. I see why she's not a widow anymore.

Matt (48:24.701)
That's her problem.

She likes to watch more than she likes to participate in the killings.

Luciano (48:33.302)
I see.

Matt (48:33.969)
Yeah, she's just creepy like that. Hey, speaking of the Secret Service, what are they doing during this movie since they clearly aren't protecting the president?

Luciano (48:35.918)
Cheers!

Luciano (48:45.934)
Mmm.

Joel (48:48.097)
Is this a metaphor for... Yeah, that's true,

Scott (48:48.382)
They're watching those flashing screens, right?

Some are watching like FIFA soccer and other ones are watching the brain manipulation tools.

Matt (48:59.955)
that make them, once they watch the bright manipulation, then it's like they turn on FIFA too. Yeah.

Scott (49:04.116)
Yeah, tough heifers coming back.

Luciano (49:04.832)
Yeah, only they they get really good at the game. That's what that does for them

Joel (49:07.263)
I get it.

Joel (49:11.111)
I guarantee it when Trump was watching this movie he's like, see exactly this is how the Secret Service protected me.

Matt (49:17.521)
You

Luciano (49:17.87)
What were they doing? Other than playing FIFA of course, because they obviously were most of them.

Matt (49:21.872)
I actually believe that.

Joel (49:26.997)
I mean, obviously all Secret Service are playing FIFA, right? It's their game.

Matt (49:30.737)
Mm-hmm. Famously.

Luciano (49:31.382)
Yeah, it's what they do most of their time. They play video games, but they only play like the original Sega Genesis version of FIFA soccer.

Matt (49:41.812)
yeah, they're, they're, that was cool. They don't, none of this. Nah.

Luciano (49:43.552)
That was retro all the way. for sure. Nothing beyond that.

Matt (49:48.137)
The game has to come before Messi ever played soccer. That's the truest. Yeah. Yeah, exactly. The classics. Yeah.

Luciano (49:51.438)
Yeah, it needs a just the old names that's what they like the old the old soccer players from the 90s. Yeah I think that tracks

Matt (50:02.749)
Good job, Secret Service. What else do I have here? hey, who won this movie?

Luciano (50:10.934)
It wasn't us.

Matt (50:12.329)
Well, let's like keep going through it. It's like, Thunderbolt Ross didn't win because he was the president of United States and now he's stuck in, stuck in the raft. Yeah. Well, no, he got his daughter's approval back. So there's that. Yeah. Right. Okay. let's see, Joaquin Torres.

Luciano (50:19.682)
No, he lost the most, I would say.

Joel (50:21.844)
Yeah.

Luciano (50:25.806)
Okay. He lost the presidency and his freedom, but you know, carry on.

Joel (50:26.369)
True.

Luciano (50:37.346)
gets cooked.

Matt (50:39.325)
But he survives.

Joel (50:40.307)
He survives and maybe he'll become Falcon.

Matt (50:42.641)
Maybe. but I guess given that the start, given at the start of the movie, yeah, he's like a neutral candidate. Okay. Isaiah Bradley definitely ends up worse. He went to prison again for no reason again. yeah, that's good. Sam Wilson. Scott, have.

Joel (50:44.745)
I feel like no.

Luciano (50:49.837)
Yeah.

Luciano (50:56.012)
yeah for no reason again yeah at least it wasn't for 30 years this time

Scott (51:05.632)
You know what? It's the contractors have to fix up the buildings every time they destroy them for no reason again and again and again.

Matt (51:09.907)
It's true.

Luciano (51:10.006)
Yeah, they're the illuminati behind the whole, wow, the industry is going down. Let's get some disaster over here. Let's break the White House this time. That's going to be a good contract.

Matt (51:22.407)
And, and that would explain why they have never gone out of their way to get any sort of Hulk busting weapons or equipment. They're still just firing bullets.

Joel (51:31.051)
It's conspiracy by the contracting industry. Big construction slash the mob.

Scott (51:33.258)
Big construction.

Luciano (51:33.612)
Yeah, big construction.

Matt (51:34.717)
Big, construction. Yeah. Plus them up. Coca-Cola actually runs the construction industry now. Yeah. Red, red, red wing. Yeah. Yeah. That actually makes some sense. so big construction and red wing one.

Luciano (51:40.494)
Red Wing actually runs the construction industry.

Scott (51:43.968)
They're gonna make it to Red House soon.

Luciano (51:53.538)
They certainly did.

Joel (51:54.463)
Yeah, I think Redwing's got to be in there, right? Like he was manipulating and controlling Captain America.

Luciano (51:57.9)
He's the new Captain America. He's a herald of capitalism. Big money there.

Matt (52:06.195)
Mm-hmm.

Scott (52:06.718)
He's got red in his name, so he's already got the pre-sponsorships.

Matt (52:09.193)
Yeah, Great. Z-O-G. Yeah, that's fair. Same. Yeah, pretty high. Yeah.

Luciano (52:09.846)
Yeah. The color red won this movie, I think, is what we're seeing.

Scott (52:16.704)
It's already pretty high up on that color list, right? Top of the rainbow, Roy Jubib. The rainbow.

Luciano (52:20.076)
There's a, there's a color list. Hold on, hold on. I don't know about this. I don't know about the color lore. Tell me more.

Joel (52:23.253)
The prime, yeah, primary color.

Matt (52:25.245)
No, Well, Scott's right. Yeah.

Joel (52:27.777)
RRGB? Alright, comes first.

Scott (52:30.432)
It's the first rainbow color. Yeah. And you know, if other colors start pushing their way up, Redis to fight its way back to the top.

Matt (52:36.135)
Yeah. Look at the evidence. The evidence is mounting.

Luciano (52:37.951)
But but red but red is the lowest color in the rainbow

Joel (52:38.645)
Red's been suffering for, the color red's been suffering for.

Luciano (52:44.556)
Okay.

Scott (52:44.734)
And yet we still say, Roy G. Biv. Red is first.

Luciano (52:47.758)
Famously the rainbow is in RGB.

Matt (52:55.549)
Bottom of the rainbow, believe the bottom of the rainbow is violet.

Luciano (52:55.726)
Okay, I wasn't privy to the color lore. Thank you for enlightening me.

Joel (53:01.971)
Indigo, isn't it? Or is it Indigo or Violet? It's Violet, yeah.

Luciano (53:03.272)
It's in... yeah, it's right here. It's... Yeah.

Matt (53:03.283)
purple. No, it's, it's, I'm looking at it now. It's red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, violet.

Joel (53:08.863)
Is that the official rainbow?

Luciano (53:10.892)
The official Rainbow, Rainbow.com, rainbow.fandom.com.

Matt (53:12.067)
I'm on the W. No, no. There it is. I'm on rainbowdefendive.com.

Joel (53:14.781)
Readmore.com

Luciano (53:19.342)
yes, yes. Fandom.com are our one and only sponsor that doesn't pay us. Yeah. I mean, if it's there, then I have to believe it.

Matt (53:23.849)
That's right. Yeah, and then yeah, it's our DP. I don't think there's, look, how many other things were our colors were red as the first one? I think there are any, so I think we can move on. All right, well, that's good. Right, another movie. So did Bruce. Yeah, Bruce agrees.

Luciano (53:37.506)
No, no.

Luciano (53:43.768)
Bruce agrees

Luciano (53:48.942)
Yeah, she's also protective of the color red. They would set it too much.

Joel (53:49.505)
Ha ha ha.

Matt (53:52.041)
She is classically, corgis are red in color.

Luciano (53:58.978)
Yes, gingers.

Joel (53:59.925)
and they can only see their color blind, but they can see red.

Matt (54:02.345)
You just see it's like infrared, but it's just like, you know, it's more like gray scale where everything's red to like shades of red. Yeah. Red scale. Yeah. I guess you can call it red scale. Um, we got there eventually, uh, the end of this movie or podcast. Uh, we like to review our movies as everybody knows, we use a very patented personal scale that we created ourselves. The STR rating scale, bespoke, you will, it's a bespoke artisan scale. Um,

Luciano (54:09.048)
So red scale, there you go. We got there eventually.

Luciano (54:26.796)
Bespoke. It's a bespoke scale.

Yeah.

Matt (54:31.945)
S is the highest, F is the lowest. You can use every letter between A, B, E, F as well. Yeah. See how low you can go, Scott. Give us your score and a few words as to why you chose that score. Maybe you're going on vibes. I don't care. We'll make it easy for you, Scott. Lucy, I'll score this.

Luciano (54:53.586)
So given that I had seen the trailer and I knew that Marvel wasn't making good movies anymore for a while, I went in, I tried to go in without much expectation and I was still disappointed. I went in wanting to like these movies. I like the MCU. I like most of these characters, but it's just like...

I think Scott nailed it in the beginning when he said they had this idea of where they wanted shit to be and they were like, we'll just find some stuff to put in whatever. can we, who's, who's going to be the schmuck we're going to put is the headliner. Anthony Mackie. wants some money. Okay. That's color Captain America, brave new world. So kind of like the effects, I don't think even counting anymore. Like, you know, Marvel knows how to do CG and all that. Like the red Hulk was cool and Harrison Ford was probably the best.

part of the movie, but everything else is just disappointing. The villain was boring, not charismatic, like just cliche. This whole movie was a walking cliche, like just a stereotype over all over the place. And when it started, I was like, maybe this will be a fun movie. And then it killed itself with a vibranium stab to the face. So this is going to be...

This is going to be an E for me. I don't, I wish I hadn't seen this movie, honestly. It was bad. I came in with like a D, but like after talking as it usually happens, I'm like, no, this is worse than I thought. So an E for me.

Matt (56:25.331)
Fair enough. High praise.

Matt (56:31.852)
Hmm. Yeah. Uh, Joel, what do you got?

Joel (56:36.841)
I mean, I wish I'd seen the trailer and spared myself watching this movie, I guess is the short answer. But since I've only been on this podcast, I want to say this popcorn and plotholes maybe twice, but the other one, I can't go E or F because I don't think I've reached rock bottom yet. So I got to be a little more conservative with my votes and only say it was a D for despicable, deplorable, but.

Matt (56:41.927)
You

Luciano (56:41.961)
hahahaha

Luciano (57:03.214)
Ayyyy

Joel (57:04.641)
Yeah, just because I got to leave myself some room in case something else is even worse than this, which is not probably not saying much about the quality of this movie. I agree. It felt like this movie was just like, yeah, we want to cover off a bunch of things. We want to restart the Avengers. We've got these other cool characters or these other maybe not even cool characters. We have these other characters we need to do something with. Yeah, let's wrap it up in a red bow as a Captain America movie.

Luciano (57:33.038)
Hey nice

Joel (57:35.637)
So yeah, D it is.

Matt (57:36.361)
You did it.

Nice. Scott, what do you got for us?

Scott (57:42.527)
I will also go with D because this is a straight to DVD movie in my mind. Just hot garbage in and out. I would compare it to a plain flavored rice cracker. Yes, it exists. Yes, you could eat it, but you would not have any flavor in it at all and you would not enjoy the experience as none of us did in this movie.

Joel (57:46.529)
Nice.

Luciano (57:47.39)
Hahaha

Matt (57:48.361)
You

Matt (57:57.065)
You

Luciano (58:03.402)
Of all the movies, this is one of them. Yeah, it truly was.

Scott (58:06.56)
Yeah, it was on a screen. That's all we can say.

Matt (58:06.867)
But should it have been? No, that's a, yeah.

Joel (58:10.913)
I have to say, know, because you said the eternal was and it looks like it's worse than this movie in terms of the Rotten Tomatoes. I have to I'm almost curious to watch it and see how bad it is if this movie was this bad, not because it's going to be good, but because I want to level set myself.

Matt (58:25.193)
I'm telling it. We watched it for this podcast or maybe the last podcast.

Luciano (58:30.68)
For the other, the other.

Joel (58:35.226)
Hahaha!

Luciano (58:37.152)
I don't know which movie is worse honestly between the two.

Matt (58:39.123)
that one.

Joel (58:39.307)
No?

Scott (58:40.16)
That one had stuff to talk about because it was so bad. was things that were entertaining about how bad it was. This one was just boring.

Luciano (58:45.28)
At least he tried, right? Yeah, it's true that this movie is like a glass of warm water,

Joel (58:45.513)
Yeah. Yeah.

Matt (58:48.349)
That's fair.

Matt (58:52.157)
This is like this. mean, it's so like I would agree with the D statement, I think overall. And it's the same stuff you guys have said, right? It's like everyone was so scared to not make a billion dollars that they did everything they could to make sure it was safe and not actually an interesting story. Like Red Hawk was cool. And the only cool part about it, they immediately told everybody it was in it just in case. So people would go watch it. And like, I don't know.

Luciano (59:19.278)
Yeah.

Matt (59:21.171)
Could this have gotten to a C if I didn't know Red Hulk was going to happen? Yeah, probably. That would have been a sweet reveal if I had not have known. But since you ruined it for me, you stole my only joy. Get out of this movie. It's a D. So yeah, that's that. Thank you very much for joining us this week. Hopefully, Luciana and I don't disappear for the next podcast. We're slowly... We're going to phase one of us out each.

Joel (59:45.569)
Don't worry, you're good. We got this taken over, it's fine. Scott and I got this.

Matt (59:50.491)
Each episode until there's a brand new cast and we're no longer

Luciano (59:52.951)
You

Joel (59:53.705)
I mean, is the Avengers, yeah, exactly, the Avengers D-Squad's coming in.

Scott (59:54.282)
just like the Avengers.

Matt (59:58.043)
Which one of you is right wing? Tell me now!

Luciano (01:00:01.154)
You

Joel (01:00:01.323)
Right away.

Matt (01:00:04.321)
if we're still here next week, we're going to watch 2025. what's the music here? yeah, this is perfect. The 2025 Marshawn Lynch vehicle. Love hurts.

Luciano (01:00:15.157)
okay.

Matt (01:00:16.553)
starting the key hue quam. Yep. Just so we're clear, the vehicle is never somebody good. In case you're wondering, it's always like a bit part. He's pretty high up on the list though, so I don't know how it's gonna go.

Joel (01:00:16.577)
That's what you're watching next week.

Joel (01:00:30.817)
I thought you were referring to the movies you watch are never good because

Matt (01:00:34.61)
No!

Luciano (01:00:35.156)
No, honestly we were on a good roll for a couple of movies and then we were like, we don't like ourselves that much.

Joel (01:00:41.697)
This is too good. It's going too well.

Matt (01:00:46.185)
We're trying to go with the system whereby each one of us picks a movie that we're interested in watching for good or for bad. And I'm curious about this movie because I do like him as an actor. it's, I don't, well, I watched the trailer and hopefully it doesn't ruin the whole thing. But apparently he is a real estate agent that was a hit man in a former life. And that's the setup for the movie. Famously. So hopefully it'll be good.

Luciano (01:01:01.25)
Hahaha

Joel (01:01:07.393)
I mean, as all real estate agents are.

Luciano (01:01:13.78)
Well, we're going to find out if we're still here.

Scott (01:01:16.436)
You probably have the same activation song, the bluegrass country music.

Joel (01:01:16.52)
if you're still-

Matt (01:01:20.321)
It's... It's... It's gonna be bad.

Joel (01:01:21.196)
What up?

Luciano (01:01:24.302)
Yeah, that's what I expect from just this is a default

Joel (01:01:27.649)
That's good, you'll be pleasantly surprised if you think it's a D, it's only a C.

Matt (01:01:32.297)
That's, that's how I want to my life. Not terrible. Alrighty. That's perfect. All right. Thank you for joining us. We'll talk to you next week. Bye.

Luciano (01:01:35.15)
Yeah.

Aim low, aim low and undershoot.

Luciano (01:01:46.594)
Bye.

Joel (01:01:47.275)
Bye.

Scott (01:01:48.321)
See you.
