À PROPOS DE CET ÉPISODE
Episode 10: Can't Stop Thinking About That Call? 7 Signs You're Stuck in Survival Mode
Still thinking about a difficult child call—or noticing you're acting differently at home?
More protective of your own kids since a pediatric call?
Finding yourself reacting more strongly to things that never bothered you before?
Wondering whether a call affected you even though you're not having nightmares, flashbacks, or other obvious signs of trauma?
If you're a first responder, healthcare professional, veteran, or work in another high-stress profession, this episode is for you.
In Episode 10 of First Responder Reset, we're talking about why difficult child calls can affect first responders differently—and how the impact of a critical incident doesn't always show up as a memory.
Sometimes, it follows you home as a behavior.
You'll learn seven signs that a pediatric or child-related call may be affecting you more than you realize, including becoming more protective, having bigger reactions to safety concerns, seeing danger everywhere, needing more control, becoming irritable or impatient, pulling away from family, or simply noticing that something feels different around your own children.
We'll also explore why your brain can begin treating possible danger like probable danger after witnessing something traumatic, how hypervigilance and operational stress can influence parenting and family life, and how to recognize when you're responding to what's happening right now versus everything you've seen happen on the job.
You don't have to be experiencing PTSD or falling apart for a difficult call to affect you. Sometimes the first question isn't, "Do I have symptoms?"
It's simply:
"Has something changed since this call?"
If a pediatric critical incident has ever hit a little too close to home, this episode will help you understand what your brain may be doing—and how to recognize when the job is beginning to affect the way you show up with the people you love most.
