À PROPOS DE CET ÉPISODE
In this compelling conversation, we sit down with Professor Peter Stanley, one of Australia’s leading military historians, to uncover the deeply emotional, lost legacy of the British Indian Army, Sikh soldiers, Punjabi Muslims, and Gurkhas who fought side-by-side with the Anzacs in 1915.
From the miraculous survival of a British officer saved from a Turkish trench by his sepoy , to the legendary Australian troops sneaking over to Indian artillery camps just to trade their terrible rations for fresh chapatis —this episode goes far beyond battle tactics. It explores a rare, cross-cultural bond built on shared food, deep respect, and a friendship that transcended generations.
Professor Stanley shares his 15-year journey to crack open these long-neglected historical records. He addresses the hard truths about Australia’s current commemorative landscape and asks a vital question: In our modern, inclusive society, whose stories are we truly telling?
If you love deeply researched history, hidden historical truths, and powerful human stories of survival and legacy, this episode is a must-watch.
