TIETOJA TÄSTÄ JAKSOSTA
Turnstile fever is spreading through the studio, WWE superstar Joe Hendry stops by before Monday Night Raw, Tony Romo’s CBS career hits a wall, and somehow cauliflower gratin becomes an important discussion point. Welcome to another perfectly organized episode of The Rizzuto Show.
The crew kicks things off recapping a packed St. Louis weekend, including Mizzou taking care of Florida, sports wagers actually paying off for once, Rafe Williams packing the Funny Bone, Moon playing a four-hour outdoor gig and Riz making the controversial decision to skip the cauliflower gratin before a night of comedy. Apparently gastrointestinal strategy is now part of the show’s culinary coverage.
There’s also some serious Turnstile fever ahead of the band's St. Louis show, a trip down memory lane involving the bizarre old Noah’s Ark restaurant in St. Charles, Halloween costume talk and the realization that if everybody dresses like Waldo, nobody is Waldo. Philosophy professors, please update the textbooks.
Then WWE superstar Joe Hendry joins the show ahead of Monday Night Raw at Enterprise Center. Joe talks about his journey from Scotland to WWE, the insane wrestling schedule, life at the WWE Performance Center and the physical punishment that comes with being a professional wrestler — including taking a knee to the face and then wandering around Argentina with two black eyes looking for his signature blue shirt.
Joe also gets into the wild success of “I Believe in Joe Hendry,” watching the song explode through wrestling fandom and climb the charts, and his new album Beyond Belief. Moon and Joe bond over the bizarre intersection of wrestling, music and video games, including Moon's own experience with Story of the Year recording entrance music for Christian. We also learn Joe once accidentally inhaled rice while trying to impress WWE legend William Regal, which somehow did NOT prevent WWE from eventually hiring him. Dreams really do come true.
From there, things get significantly messier.
Tony Romo is reportedly out at CBS following his DUI case, sparking a debate over consequences, second chances and why someone with that much money wouldn't simply get a ride home. The conversation expands into the strange inconsistencies surrounding sports scandals and how leagues, networks and teams decide who gets another chance and who gets shown the door.
That gets even more complicated when the crew discusses the Portland Trail Blazers broadcaster who reportedly lost his new job the same day he got it after offensive social media posts from when he was 15 resurfaced. The posts were stupid, but should somebody's dumbest teenage comments still define them at 29? The gang debates accountability, forgiveness, cancel culture and the terrifying reality that an entire generation has conveniently archived its adolescence online for future employers.
Thankfully, we eventually leave complicated moral questions behind and tackle something far more important: absolutely butchering Led Zeppelin.
In honor of Led Zeppelin III, the crew attempts “Immigrant Song” karaoke. Rafe gives it a shot. Moon gets involved. Lern joins the disaster. Riz participates. Robert Plant presumably senses something terrible happening hundreds of miles away and doesn't know why.
Crap on Celebrities piles on even more chaos with Metallica heading to the Sphere, David Lee Roth talking about his unmistakable voice, a country version of “Jump,” and the reminder that Diamond Dave once legitimately worked as an EMT. Imagine opening your eyes in an ambulance and realizing David Lee Roth is helping save your life. At that point, just enjoy the ride.
There's also Phil Collins and his long-running beef with Paul McCartney, Taylor Swift wedding-song talk, the Kardashian nanny situation inspiring Rafe to decide HE needs a nanny, and Ryan Seacrest showing up absolutely shredded — leading the crew into a conversation about his physique that lasts considerably longer than any responsible morning radio program should allow.
Plus, the Rizz Show celebrity curse apparently strikes again, National Get Funky Day turns into a debate over what actually qualifies as funk, and the crew somehow makes it through another morning without Human Resources physically entering the studio.
WWE stories, Turnstile fever, sports bets, Tony Romo fallout, teenage tweets, celebrity chaos, Led Zeppelin karaoke, Ryan Seacrest's abs and cauliflower-based gastrointestinal planning.
