Welcome to the Meditation Podcast. This is Jesse Stern with Episode 153, Theta State.
This podcast's life purpose is to facilitate profound meditation experience through guided meditation and binaural beats. The technique and technology help to amplify the brain's slower Theta waves, inducing an altered state of consciousness known as the 'Theta State'.
In today's meditation, we enter the Theta State.
Remember that this podcast uses binaural beats, audio technology that affects the brain. So please use headphones and please do not use this podcast while driving or operating machinery.

# Meditation
Begin in any comfortable position where you can allow your muscles to relax and let go.
Allow your eyes to drift gently closed.
Turn your attention toward your breathing without necessarily changing it.
Observe your breath.
Observe any sensations that arise in your body with each inhale and each exhale.
Allow your observation of breath and body to expand out to the surface of your body - sensations of temperature, movement of air, clothing on skin, gravity and your relationship to the ground - while continuing to notice each breath, and the sensations that arise in your body with each breath.
Perhaps noticing any thoughts or inner dialogue.
Any feelings, mood, or emotion.
And then simply observing the sensations that arise within your body with each inhale and each exhale.
The sounds and space and smells around you ...
The presence of others ...
This is my inhale ...
This is my exhale ...
Turn your attention and awareness toward your feet and toward any part of your body that's touching the earth.
Allow your body to sink and spread out like water, sinking into the earth.
Follow your awareness down, remaining connected to your body. Down through the floor, down through the earth. Down through the earth's crust. All the way down, down, down to the earth's molten core.
Feel your awareness within your body, and also connected to the Earth's molten core
Gently redirect your attention to your head and toward every part of your body that's facing the sky.
Maintain awareness of your body, while at the same time, follow your awareness up. Up into the room, the sky, up through the clouds, through the atmosphere, up, up, and up into space beyond the galaxies all the way to the edge of the universe and beyond.
Observe the part of yourself that has expanded all the way to the center of the earth and the edge of the universe.
Continue to breathe naturally
as you experience
yourself both within your body
and everywhere.
Within the theta state we have access to what some call divine consciousness; the superconscious.
Opportunity to stand in reverence of our connection to all life.
If the mind becomes distracted, return gently to your observation of your breath and the sensations within your body that arise with each inhale and each exhale.
Follow your sensation down, down, down to the center of the earth.
Follow your sensation up, up, up to the edge of the universe and beyond.
Watch and listen.
Whenever you're ready to return, allow your awareness to be bathed in silver light.
Contract your awareness from the edge of the universe and beyond, coming back down, down, down, through the galaxies, the atmosphere, the clouds, the sky, the space around you, and back to the part of your body that's facing the sky and your head.
Reintegrating all of your awareness into your own body, mind, and spirit.
And then the part of your awareness that's extended into the molten core of the earth.
Allow it to come up, up, up, through the crust of the earth, through the earth and the floor, back into your feet and the part of your body that's touching the earth.
Integrating your awareness into your own body, mind, and spirit.
Breathe naturally.
Allowing your body and subconscious mind to process and integrate what you've learned.
We will close this practice with a meditation technique known as box breathing, or in the tradition of yoga it is called Sama Vrithi Pranayama. The technique is to inhale, hold, exhale, hold, all in about the same rhythm. I'll guide it at first and then you can adjust to your own time. And whenever you're ready with your next inhale, coming in for 1, 2, 3, hold, 1, 2, 3, exhale, 1, 2, 3, hold, 1, 2, 3. Continue in your own time for about a minute.
With your next exhale, release any technique or effort in your breathing. Breathe naturally.
Remain still for as long as you'd like.
And as this meditation comes to a close, gently wiggle your fingers and toes ... rock your head from side to side ... and whenever you're ready open your eyes.
