This hour begins with a surprising twist in Milwaukee's search for a new public library director, as city officials rescind a nomination just one day before the candidate was set to move to Wisconsin, citing a missed qualification requirement in the hiring process. The conversation then shifts to a deeply personal and timely discussion with breast cancer survivor and author Allison Sweet Grant, who shares the story behind her memoir Lump and reflects on diagnosis, treatment, recovery, and the emotional journey of surviving cancer. Later, the show examines a tragic New York City subway accident that serves as a reminder of the dangers of everyday transit. The hour concludes with Dr. John Raymond of the Medical College of Wisconsin, who offers guidance for the approaching respiratory virus season, including what to expect from flu, COVID-19, and RSV, and why prevention and vaccination remain important tools for staying healthy.
