Can an MLS player REALLY win the Ballon d'or?! | DUEL NATS

With the Ballon d’Or winner set to be announced soon, a big question looms for the MLS and the region, can Lionel Messi bring home his 9th Ballon d’Or trophy?

Having lifted MLS Cup, won the MLS MVP, and taken Argentina to a World Cup Final, has Messi made the case for adding one more trophy to his cabinet? With the front-runners of Harry Kane, Kylian Mbappe, and Lamine Yamal all having great seasons, does Messi have a better case than all of them? Can an MLS player actually win the biggest individual award of the year or is the discrepancy between American soccer and Europe too much for even the GOAT to close?

Herculez Gomez and Sebastian Salazar also break down the problems the Mexican National team faces at the striker position. Can Raul Jimenez bounce back from injury and continue to produce? Is Henry Martin a legitimate option for Rafa Marquez? And should Santos Laguna’s Tahiel Jimenez be considered as a goal scoring option in November? The Duel Nats crew also discuss what is the CONCACAF equivalent to El Clasico. Is there a comparable matchup that can stack up to the biggest rivalry in soccer between Barcelona and Real Madrid?
