Speaker 1: All right, so here's your happy pull, your Monday motivation. Comes from Kat Johnston. So she's a clinical mental health professional, family advocate, done quite a bit, very much in the psychological impacts of mental health therapy culture and the modern parent-child relationships. That's her area of expertise. And the subject this morning, she says, I think we have unintentionally created a generation of emotionally literate, but functionally fragile adults. Sure. So members of society. Let's hear what she has to say.

Speaker 2: I think we created a generation of emotionally literate, but functionally fragile adults. They know the language of trauma and triggers and boundaries, gaslighting, emotional safety and validation. The problem isn't that they know these concepts. The problem is that they're increasingly applying clinical language to ordinary human experiences. Disagreement becomes emotional harm. Discomfort becomes trauma. Criticism becomes abuse. Accountability becomes being unsafe. And I think that We confused emotional awareness with emotional strength. They're not the same thing. Emotional awareness is knowing what you feel. Emotional strength is being able to tolerate what you feel without turning every uncomfortable experience into evidence that someone has harmed you. Because adulthood requires more than insight. It requires resilience. It requires frustration, tolerance, And it requires the ability to experience difficult emotions without immediately assigning blame for them. If every uncomfortable feeling becomes trauma, every disagreement becomes abuse and every challenge becomes proof that someone is toxic. That's not emotional health. That's emotional fragility wrapped in therapeutic language. So we just have a whole generation that feels everything. and labels everything. And most of it is just discomfort.
00:02:55
Speaker 1: Because it's an unqualified opinion.
00:02:57
Speaker 2: Correct.
00:02:58
Speaker 1: From a professional person, bang, bang, bang. Clock it. Yeah.
00:03:03
Speaker 2: And so nobody's saying that we shouldn't be emotionally aware.
00:03:07
Speaker 1: I can't stop there. Are we strong? Are we resilient? Build tough.
00:03:15
Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah.
00:03:16
Speaker 1: That's power. Okay. That is your Monday motivation.
