A beer-league goalie named Sean talks with a USA Hockey goalie expert, and everyone learns something. Robert learns his own hard lessons about audio engineering.
After some producer notes from last week's episode (1:00), Sean proposes a crazy play-in rule the NHL should think about (9:30). The guys also reflect on Episode 2 guest Rick Bowness's blunt comments about the Blue Jackets (15:48) after Columbus's final game of the season.
Steve Thompson of USA Hockey joins the show (30:20) with some expert insight into goaltending development, why the RVH is misunderstood, how to avoid some common mistakes in developing younger goaltenders, and how crucial goaltending always seems to be whenever USA hockey teams win gold.
Sean (1:35:00) takes a moment to touch on the tough spot smaller college hockey programs are in when it comes to recruiting and retaining players in the transfer portal landscape.
Finally, (1:40:30) Utah Mammoth analyst and former NHL player Dominic Moore joins the show to talk about playing all 82 games in a season, whom Utah would prefer to face in the first round, how he made the journey from the ice to the broadcast booth, how the Spengler Cup took his career to Switzerland, and one Jaromír Jágr story appropriate enough to share.
