Speaker 2: Well, my fellow Americans, here we go again in the Middle East, and I fervently believe to the bottom of my heart and soul this will turn out better than a rocker Afghanistan and Vietnam. I think many of us have a hangover from UH region changes. We tried that in Vietnam, now Vietnam was once again controlled by the Communists. We tried that any Iraq for the best of intentions. Sada Mussein, who by the way, was our friend. You might recall, for ten years a rock and Iran went at each other, and that we supported Sada Mussein, the Iraqi side against Iran. The ten year war was largely a stalemate. Over a two million were killed by both sides collectively, and that came much ado about nothing except those two million deaths. And then Afghanistan. Of course we won there and then in a sense because during the four years Donald Trump was in office, there were no American service personnel killed in Afghanistan until Joe Biden calls to withdraw. And once the withdrawal happened, that's when those thirteen brave soldiers were killed at the gate and along with thousands and thousands of Afghans. And so I kind of resist. The idea of regime changed anywhere Iran. And the reason Iran is different is obvious. Iran has attacked US repeatedly. Iraq did not attack America. Afghans did not attack America. In fact, Vietnam did not attack America historically. But in this case, over the over the last six decades, we've been routinely attacked by the Iranians. In fact, their leaders wish us death every time they open their mouth, death to America, which is the chant now heard on Columba University campuses. For God's sakes, let's go back in history just a little bit. November fourth, nineteen seventy nine, you might recall the Iranian government took fifty two Americans hotches for about four and forty four days, and the original Iatola arises and he founded something called an offshoot of Islam called twelve Sheism. Now what is twelve Sheism? Danny Gleeson, my producer, wants to know. It's an apocalyptic sect which holds that the twelve Iman, a guy named Mohammad al Mahdi, who was born by the way in eight seventy AD, never actually died, and he's been holding his time, biting his time since eight since after nine hundred AD, waiting for what. The twelve vers of which Iran is now controlled by the various Iatolas, believe it is their divine duty to usher into the apocalypse in order to trigger his return. So the apocalypse must take place in order for the twelf er Sias. Mohammad al Mahdi died in about nine ten AD, it's required that an apocalypse take place so that this particular Emam comes back.
00:03:47
Speaker 3: He really is not dead.
00:03:49
Speaker 2: He's living in a cave somewhere for the last what thirteen hundred years, and hence it's unrelenting half century war of terror against the West. As a practicing Roman Catholic, we have an order thou shalt not kill if you're part of the Iranian Republican Revolutionary Guard. Your order is quote thou shalt kill every Infidel you can find, so that philosophy is in charge of Iran. And the original Iatola said that if a virgin is captured and needing to be killed, of course that you must rape the virgin first, so the virgin can't go to heaven. They have an order to kill Westerners, kill Christians, kill other Muslims, especially Sunnis and Jews, wherever they might be located. So unlike you and I, we kind of live our lives to help others. We live our lives to enrich our families. We live our lives to volunteer our time benevolently to various charitable causes.
00:04:53
Speaker 3: That's not the that's not Iran.
00:04:56
Speaker 2: Iran believes it is their duty to kill you and to kill me because we're not real human beings or some other And as evidence of that, in nineteen seventy nine, they kidnapped, destroyed the American embassy, and the running government since them has armed, created funded Hesbelah and a moss bok are Ram Islamic Jihad, and a bunch of other shall we say, far left doing terror groups. On October eighteenth nineteen eighty three, hes Belah bombed the US embassy and Bayroot, killing sixty three Americans. On October twenty third, nineteen eighty three, Iranian back terrorist bomb the American and French barracks in Beirut, killing three hundred and seven people. And during the Iraqi War, which by the way, we should never got involved with, we should have done what we did and then left. And my support for Donald Trump's war and Iran will end. If we put one hundred thousand troops on the ground in Iran, it's over. I doubt he'll do that. But Iran's part of the Shia insurgencies around Coolish and forces, creating the roadside bombs and IEDs that made and killed thousands of Americans. During the Afghan War, Iran supported the Taliban. October twenty twenty three, AMAS back by Iran launched a Genosada war against Israel, and the last month or so they've killed the IRGC has killed about forty thousand unarmed Iranians in the streets. In fact, in the last forty seven years, everyone agrees that Iran is the world's foremost sponsor of terror in the world. Having said all that, I've heard the same arguments about the future and how this is a threat to mankind that are heard in Vietnam, that are heard in Iraq and heard in Afghanistan, same stuff. And this time I trust this president to do what's right, unlike Bush, unlike Obama, unlike Biden when it comes to Afghanistan and the withdrawal or Iraq and Afghanistan under Bush, it was all a complete, utter disaster, despite the bravery encourage of those of my generation of Vietnam, about sixty thousand and men and women killed, some murdered by the communists, the NVA and by the Viet Cong. Right now, Vietnam is more or less prospering as a more or less socialist, communistic country that even the Vietnam veterans will go to. Iraq is completely broken. And from American perspective, the seven thousand lives lost in Irock in Afghanistan was not worth the trillions of dollars of cost. And I lay at the doorstep of Dick Cheney of Bush forty three, Colin Powell, who's passed on, Donald Rumsfeld, who's passed on I was on the air with you every day during those events, and I believe what they told me. In fact, when I broadcast my show from the Pentagon, I had Rumsfeld and all the brass was on General Pace, etc. I believe they had weapons of mass destruction ready to launch. Sh'm going to turn out to be a lie. Now did they know it was lie when they said it? We can argue about that, But Iraq in Afghanistan was an unmitigated disaster, as was Vietnam. Trillions lost, thousands and thousands of lives, hundreds of thousand maimed and injured, to no dissentible benefit to us at this point, well, the same thing happened in Iran, I pray to God not.
00:08:24
Speaker 3: I do not think that will happen.
00:08:26
Speaker 2: Donald Trump and my friend jad Vance has said repeatedly that there will be no ground troops in Iran. If something happens in the next few weeks with the eighty second Airborne hundred and first land somewhere in Iran, I'd be shocked and dismayed because it is now up to the Iranian people to decide what to do and when to do it, not up to the American soldier. So when I read the headlines about Komani bombed to Hell. In fact, I put out an x on my ex account that he is now in Hell enjoying the company of the seventy two Vestal Virgins. So that's another issue. But nonetheless some of the headlines as we speak. Trump urges Iranians to overthrow the Mulahs. Donald Trump's put up the message to the actual Iranian people, which I understand is being broadcast all over Iran. It is time now to arise and take back your government from the Shia ministers who have plunged it into seventh century adventurism. Trump urges Iranians to overthrow. The entire military command is gone and many want to surrender. According to Donald Trump and Jad E. Vans, the fight's going to be a course between the regular Army of Iran and the IRGC, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. The IRGC, they're like the SS, the Brownshirts. They're the true believers, they're the murderers. The best thing that could happen is that the regular Iranian army, the elements that are left, rise up and say, we want the IRGC and the the eye tollers to be gone. It's over. We won our country back. The ninety million who lived there are generally well educated. They want to get to work, and they had enough of the eye tollers that took over in nineteen seventy nine. As we speak tonight, the US and Israel is pummeling Iran with the support by the way of an odd coalition. According to media accounts, something called the GCC, which is the Golf Cooperation Council, has six members Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Cutter, Saudi Arabia UAE. They've all issued statements supporting the American action in Iran presently and condemning the eye Tollers. In fact, Saudi Arabia's foreign minister tonight has summoned the Iranian ambassador. Thank god, he thinks he's in Rihad and not in Tehran, a day after the Kingdom accused Tehran of targeting its territory with strikes. In fact, tonight, it's clear that all six members Arab members of the GCC have been targeted by Iran for damage of one type or another. Some of the Arab Gulf states are no doubt displeased about being targeted by Iran, and so in the beginning, the Germans, the French and the English was they were standing on the sidelines, but no more. It appears at this point that the so called European powers are standing with Donald Trump. In fact, oddly enough, there's a banner, and we have James Hearson from California coming up later to talk about it over the beaches of California, in which Iranians are thanking Donald Trump. Right now, Donald Trump with the Iranian people in America is about ninety percent approval factor, and in Iran, I'm sure he's extremely popular.
00:11:51
Speaker 3: So right now, Donald Trump is.
00:11:52
Speaker 2: Popular on the streets of Iran and on the streets of Venezuela, but not too popular with the Democrats, which is another odd circumstance. If somebody had told me a few weeks ago that Donald Trump would be honored by the Venezuelans and the Iranians but hated by the Democratic Party, I might not have believed it. But we live in difficult, unbelievable times. So as we sit here eighteen minutes after the hour, unsure of the outcome, CNN wants a defined outcome, and Caitlyn Collins and others is drip with hatred toward Donald Trump. These events started at one thirty am yesterday Saturday morning, Friday night, Saturday morning. And because they Donald Trump's not spoken directly with Caitlyn Collins.
00:12:36
Speaker 3: She's got a case of the gougu. She's unhappy.
00:12:39
Speaker 2: She once answers as to what do you say to the three American service personnel that were killed by a missile attack when they were in Kuwait. The fact is, it's an awful circumstance. Whether you're a police officer or you're in the military, you're in the Coastguard, you understand that the risk of death is part of the duties you undertake. As a radio talk show host, I don't spend much time I'm worried about dying on duty. But if you're a soldier, if you're an airman, you have concerns that you may be asked to make the ultimate sacrifice, and your family knows that each of them should be honored. Don't know the circumstances yet, but it appears to be they were in Kuwait when a missile was fired at Kuwait and hit certain personnel, and unfortunately, three were killed and about seven were wounded. Is it likely more? Yes, it's likely this will happen, but is it worth it? So here's the question I want to lay upon you. Unlike the last few Sunday nights, I've had so many issues going on with the with the news. I want to hear from you, the American people. Eight six six six four seven seven three three seven, eight six six eight sixty six. You know the number eight six six six four seven seven three three seven high risk, high reward. If somehow and and I tweeted or axed about this, since Donald Trump help has taken over, the world has changed, I think for the better. I think because the only history can judge what is right and what is wrong, what is good? What hasped? We have some time to go. But on my ex account recently a few hours ago, I put the following. In only one year, Trump has devastated Venezuela, Cuba, is about to flip Syria, Iraq, Colombia, Iran, Hamas, Hezbollah and Boca Haram and Nigeria. He has solved eight wars conflicts around around the planet. He's a peacemaker. As the Iotola burns in hell with those seventy two virgins. Is what I said. Is the world now a safer place because of Donald Trump? That is the issue laid upon the table, if you're a thoughtful consideration, and I'm proud we have this guy in office instead of instead of Kamala Harrison made a stupid comment the other day. I let's take some call. The line becomes available eight sixty six. We have two lines open eight six six six four seven seven three three seven, Bill cunning and the Great American with you every Sunday night. A couple more housekeeping matters before I take your calls. We have calls from Oklahoma, Florida, Cincinnati, West Virginia, North Carolina, Missouri, also California. But uh well, one thing you can anticipate is that I get the sense. I'll lay this upon the table for your thoughtful considerations. Do the loudmount Democrats in the Senate and in the House actually want America to lose this war, this conflict because losing the war helps them and hurts Donald Trump? Or do they want America to win even if Donald Trump if we get some politicals success from it. From my perspective, I want America to always succeed when it comes time to fight the nation's enemies wherever they might be located.
00:16:11
Speaker 3: I think it's a great idea. Let's go ready to go.
00:16:13
Speaker 2: That's why we have a military, the greatest in the world, the greatest in the history of the world. When I was Senator Kelly or Swallwell or the squad, aoc, et cetera. I have a strong sense Mo'm Donnie issued some stupid comment on New York City. Of course he's a Muslim, he's a supporter of Iran. Kind of condemning the president.
00:16:36
Speaker 3: I don't hear.
00:16:37
Speaker 2: Condemnation of what's happening to women and children, females throughout most of the Islamic world, especially in Iran and Iraq today. Imagine being born female in Damascus or in Tehran. So the female is protesting on college campuses, like at Columbia University. I have Wayne Olenroute coming up later and talk about this is alma mater was in his Columbia University. They have signs saying death to America marching around Columbia University, which is of course an Ivy League school. A great note Columbia University on campus, death to America. They want to kill it. They advocate murdering you and your family. And that's in our college campuses. Try that almost anywhere else in the world. What would happen to you. But that's how bad things are. That Democrats hate Trump more than they love America. And it's demonstrated, of course by the State of the Union address. What was that a few days ago? I thought tonight's topic would be State of the Union address when he had put out the question do you care and defend America more than the legal aliens to Democrats wouldn't stand up. It's a great campaign and it's going to be played.
00:17:46
Speaker 3: It's brilliant.
00:17:46
Speaker 2: I'm going to ask Wayne on the route about that in a couple hours from now as to his feelings about his alma mater hosting allegedly students at Columbia urging demanding death to America.
00:17:59
Speaker 3: They want you dead. Unbelievable.
00:18:03
Speaker 2: And I think about from West Virginia, those two National Guardsmen that went there to defend and protect the residents of DC. One was shot in the back of the head, the other one was at the State of Union address making a remarkable recovery. Those of the individuals I support and love. When you step forward and say choose me, I'll do this. I have great respect for the military and for police officers, US Marshall Service, Ice, the FBI corrections officials. I have great respect for those who who work as firefighters, who kind of understand that part of what I'm doing might indicate I'll be forced to make the ultimate sacrifice, which is what happened to three of the troops today in Kuwait when a missile rained down upon them and they were killed by an Iranian missile.
00:18:50
Speaker 3: There might be more of that happening in the future.
00:18:52
Speaker 2: From history's vantage point, I can tell you exactly what worked and what didn't work. World War Two worked, Vietnam didn't work, didn't work, Afghanistan didn't work. In a few years, we'll find out whether it worked or not. It's up to the running people to describe and defind their own future. Tonight, as the President said, I support and love Donald Trump. Let's continue. I'll take calls directly on the other side. We have full lines, of course, when the line becomes available. Eight sixty six six four seven seven three three seven? Are you with the President or against him? Bill Cunningham with you? Every something that we hit, the music, Danny Boy, a little bit of James Brown.
00:19:40
Speaker 3: I loved James Brown. That's another issue.
00:19:42
Speaker 2: Interviewed him a couple of times wonderful, But nonetheless, before I take a couple of calls, we have full lines. I'll be with you another two or three minutes. The next generation of warfare is happening as we speak. It used to be storm the beaches, cover the skies, artillery shelves, and see what happens. That doesn't occur anymore. Epic fury is indicating from some sources that I have, that we were using reverse radar, stealth technology, drones and sonic weapons.
00:20:16
Speaker 3: What are they?
00:20:18
Speaker 4: Well?
00:20:18
Speaker 2: Traditionally, a radar station would light up, send out a pulse. It would indicate a metal object is coming, and then if you're really good, you'll be able to describe the speed, the altitude, and the kind of object coming. In today's reversed radar, what happens is when the Iranians put on radar to try to find out what was going on, that we sent back a cloaking device which shielded that radar from seeing what's going on, and we specifically identified the location of the radar station, which meant, all of a sudden, instead of discovering what's happening by turning on the radar, guess what happened? A missile was coming down your throat. They weren't prepared for that stealth technolog jeez. By that, I mean that the skies are open over Iran for Israelian American jets because they have jammed every capability of the Iranian military that's so called Elite Corps to discover where the planes are and whether or not. We have drone technology in which drones hover over an area about eight thousand feet in about eight eight thousand feet up, and it simply hovers there until locating a target to hit. There might be one thousand, five thousand of these drones over the top of Iran as we speak, and they're simply waiting to attack, to receive a signal and then they attack. So the object of using ground forces in this war is simply is not possible because it's not needed. Plus we have so called sonic weapons. You might recall Maduro at fifteen hundred Venezuelan soldiers around him and also several hundred Cuban soldiers to protect him. He was told repeatedly they're going to come and get you, and Nicholas Maduro said, well, that's impossible. I'm in my safe house, in my safe rooms, I have a couple thousand soldiers around and within twenty or thirty minutes use of sonic weapons which burst the ear drums of the soldiers. The fifteen hundred Venezuelan soldiers found themselves bleeding out of their eyeballs, incapable of standing up without falling over and vomiting. It's hard to fight in that circumstance, would you agree. So we have these next generation weapons that means that the casualties on our side will be quite small and the casualis on the other side will be quite large. There was one report that you heard some of them on ABC News, that we attracked Komene for a long period of time to get as circumstances. Also, the Masad has thousands of undercover agents inside the Runan government inside Tehran, cloaking themselves and discovering exactly where the important leaders are. According to one media account, it was scheduled to take place on January I'm sorry in February the twentieth, but they wanted to get more intelligence that get all the leaders together. There was some reporting on one side that a false signal was sent out to the highest level of the Komane government to meet at a certain place. It wasn't sent by Komyane. It was sent by the Masad to meet there. And so you had essentially the heads of the military, heads of their air force to Polague leadership meeting and a location at a certain time when the message wasn't sent by Komene at all. It was sent by Masad. And once they arrived at that location, boom it happened. The bunker busters were used and the decapitation strike took place. So Komayanee right now is in Hell with his seventy two virgins. Hopefully he's enjoying himself along with all the elements of his family, sadly, including his children and his wives. And the of the IRCG was also there for the powwow that never took place because it was in Masad operation. The cloaking devices available today are simply incredible, as is the sonic weapons, the reverse radars, the stealth technology, and the drones.
00:24:19
Speaker 3: And that's where we are.
00:24:20
Speaker 2: It's as if fighting World War two with our technology, probably one aircraft carrier would disabled the entire Japanese fleet and the Japanese army. With one aircraft carrier today, they would decimate the whole island. In the good old days, you need it personnel. Now you need technology. So I find that epic fury I hope will be a great success. I've been with you every night. I've been with you every Sunday night now for about seventeen years, and I would be shocked and dismayed if American soldiers land on the beaches of southern Iran. I'd be shocked and I'd be surprised if this thing isn't over with in the next two to four weeks. And it must end by having the Iranian government. If somebody from the IRGC is in charge, and he marches to the same beat as the eye toolas that's going to be a temporary, temporary job for him. And at some point the delusional Democrats have got to quit saying that Iran was not a threat. There's literally thousands of Americans dead and one hundreds of thousands of others around the world dead because of the Irignan government. They've been killing us since nineteen seventy nine. Dead to America means we're going to kill you. Thou shall not kill is a Western principle. Thou shall kill is an Islamic principle, and that's where it must end. Must take your calls. And by the way, I'm glad you brought that up, Danny Gleeson. It was a certain recipient of the Medal of Honor was asked and he put it on his on his ex account. It's only about only about sixty five seconds about why one should not confront today's American military.
00:26:06
Speaker 3: Danny Gleeson hid it and the threats to our nations. They don't sleep, They're watching our every move.
00:26:14
Speaker 5: Iran, Russia, China, North Korea isis a Kaida.
00:26:21
Speaker 3: They may be watching this right now.
00:26:24
Speaker 5: Our military should not be mistaken for a cable news gabfest show.
00:26:29
Speaker 3: We don't care what you look like. We don't care who you voted.
00:26:32
Speaker 5: For, who you worship, what you worship, who you love. It doesn't matter if your dad left you millions when he died, or if he knew who your father was. We have been honed into a machine of lethal moving parts that you would be wise to avoid. If you know what's good for you, we will not be intimidated. We will not back down. We've seen war. We don't want war. But if you want war with the United States of America. There's one thing I could promise you, So help me, God, someone else will raise your sons and daughters.
00:27:09
Speaker 3: Bingo. Every time I hear that, I feel well. I feel good.
00:27:13
Speaker 2: Technology with passion, professionalism rules today's military. It is a commando force, unlike the military under Joe Biden and Kamala Harris. God forbid if she was Imagine if she was the president right now, Kamala Harris is the president, what would the world look like? Not nearly as good. I want more Democrats like John Fetterman to wish us well, to understand the threats that we're confronting head on, and wish us success, rather than Senator Shift and so many other Democrats who say we have no idea what we're doing. The military is being misled that this is a war that will end poorly, using as an example Iraq and Afghanistan. Those wars end poorly because of the failure of the Bush administration, Dick Cheney, Donald Remsfeld, etc. To understand that once San Mussein had been toppled, the best thing to say American lives was to get out immediately. Same thing in Afghanistan. That thing had quieted down until Joe Biden took over, and then at Heaven's Gate it allowed the murder of thirteen American soldiers and also the decapitation of many of the supporters who had in Afghanistan. And if this thing that the worst thing that can happen to me is that the IRGC continues control over Iran and that a few years from now we're confronting with another threat. The best thing that can happen is that the ninety million Iranians would arise as one and take over the government, the Iranian army itself. The regulars would go against the IRGC and say no more. And what's happening now is that the next few weeks. Maybe the President said to Night about four weeks, so it might be two weeks, might be six weeks. But this air campaign will devastate and destroy all the abilities of Iran for a long period of time to put together any threat to the rest of the world. We'll see what happens down the road. But that was a Medal of honor winner, and that guy's fabulous. Let's continue now, We'll go to Let's go to Anne in Washington and then Anita in West Virginia, and Jeff and Missouri and Anne in Washington, I assume the state of Washington. Welcome to the Bill Cunningham Show.
00:29:30
Speaker 6: An. How are you hi, Billy, Thanks, I'm very blessed. I wanted to say that over fifteen years ago, I read a book by doctor Walney Ferris, thinking that Saddana thing really did have WMD. And he reported that during the build up of the United States of the war against him. I mean it was known by intelligence and it was photographed that there was a large convoy of trucks going from Iraq to Syria. And he maintained that there was WMD and if they were found, he said, it's the responsibility of the United Nations to find them. So I always believed that it was true that they really had WMD, and he said so, and he's an expert in the area.
00:30:12
Speaker 2: Well, and whether I've read that, I've had will lead Ferris on a few times, and I take that, Okay, that's possible that occurred. But having said okay, say it went to Syria, WND would have been what bachulism might have been, chemical weapons, biological weapons, that might have been the beginnings of a nuclear whatever it was. But the way the Iraqi War turned out. Was that a success in your opinion?
00:30:34
Speaker 7: Oh?
00:30:34
Speaker 6: No, I think it was handled early.
00:30:35
Speaker 3: Absolutely it was awful.
00:30:38
Speaker 2: And that's why I have trust in faith in this president to learn from the mistakes of Bush and Obama and Biden and Kamala Harris and to do what's right. I have trust in Trump that I had trust trust in Bush forty three until it was destroyed. And when when we got into that war and all of a sudden we lost seven thousand breaks of American soldiers costing a trillion dollars. And here we are fifteen twenty years later, and guess what I rock's and worshiped than it was on Assadom Mussein. Same thing with Afghanistan. Think of the girls in Afghanistan, what they You're a woman, I assume imagine being in Afghanistan race as a woman. And we have college campuses erupting saying death to America, and I guess they're not and paid for. But Willid Ferris is a good man, and I'm going to contact him to come on.
00:31:27
Speaker 3: But at the end of the day, we were not.
00:31:29
Speaker 2: We might have been told the truth as they know it, but the Iraqi War was conducted in such a way as to cause many of our deaths, destroy the hopes and dreams of millions of iraqis resulting in nothing, but thank you for your call. Is continue now with Anietzsche as Anita, Anita, Anita in West Virginia. Go ahead, you on the Bill Cunningham show Anita, how are you?
00:31:48
Speaker 8: I am doing fabulous after hearing you the last two minutes.
00:31:54
Speaker 3: Thank you.
00:31:54
Speaker 8: It's so nice to hear somebody with Sam that he talked and I agree one hundred percent with you. I've been waiting for this and now you just watch. With these liberal lunatics, they're going to do is they're going to start crying about any military that was injured or killed. Not that we I don't want to see that, but when they signed on, You're exactly right, they knew what they were signing on for.
00:32:31
Speaker 6: And instead.
00:32:34
Speaker 8: They don't care how many come in through open borders. Ye Roy kill and rape us the American citizen. They could care less, but they're going to cry their hearts out over a military soldier.
00:33:00
Speaker 2: Nata I if it was my son or my daughter, who don't know the general, the other three that were killed, there's going to be probably more, and my heart goes out to them, and they gave their life for the sacrifice of others, the greatest thing act. I thank him to the bottom of my heart. And they signed up for it and they paid the ultimate price. We should take care of their families and honor their sacrifice. But I don't hear the same treatment that the number empandied about in the media is between one and two thousand Americans are dead today, goes to the open border policies of Joe Biden, without taking into account the forty thousand on drug abuse and drug use ventanyl heroin, just direct murder and manslaughter charges one to two thousand were calls. And I don't see any crocodile tears cried by the liberal Democrats. Is the rape, robbery, force, prostitution, burglary.
00:33:51
Speaker 3: Robbery, murder, nothing, nothing.
00:33:54
Speaker 2: Zero, zilch. And it's sad. And we have a hell of a road. We've had some accid terrorism. What happened in Austin, Texas last night, someone wearing a shirt saying built by Allah, who went and killed a bunch of people at a disco. And we have more stabbings across the country tonight, which is highly suspicious because there were Islamic terrorists brought into from the southern border by Hesbla and Hamas during Joe Biden's era. And they're killing, maiming and raping and robbing and drug that they're doing all that, and the Democrats can't say a damn thing about that.
00:34:28
Speaker 3: But I want to know.
00:34:29
Speaker 8: But they're going to cry their eyes out over soldier or to trying to get the American people into an uproar.
00:34:37
Speaker 3: You get us hopefully need it. We don't do that.
00:34:41
Speaker 2: Your great call. We got to run great call. As we continue calls from all over the country. Do you support or not support the bombing with Israel of Iran to bring about hopefully a change in that regime. I'm only hopeful for a change. Another membery of Islamic Revolution could become worse in the eye told it. And if that's the case, he better bend over and kisses ask goodbye. Forty nine minutes after the hour, Bill Cunning and the Great American with you every Sunday night. Okay, We'll never stopped. We simply continue to take your call. Later on the next hour or so, we have James Person from the left coast. We have Wayne Allen Root coming on about an hour and a half or so to talk about his feelings about the assault on Iran, well deserved, by the way. At no point do I recall any country in the world that's done to what Iran has done to America since nineteen seventy nine, Not even close. We went to war with Iraq and to Afghanistan when they didn't attack us repeatedly as the Eye told us, have done since nineteen seventy nine. We've finally got a president with big brass coyonis that will say, Okay, you say that to America, I ate that to you. And then our greatest partner, I think God's represented on Earth is the United States of America, and right behind us is Israel. Put us two together, that is more than a formidable force to be reckoned with. And the headlines now Iran regime will never recover, according to British sources, after the devastating losses, and it will continue until they stop. Until they stop, and I don't know when that'll be. It might be a week, might be a month. I want America to succeed. Do you answer that question, do you want America to succeed?
00:36:32
Speaker 3: Yes? Or no?
00:36:33
Speaker 2: I think ninety five percent of my audience would say yes, Well, I guess what, there's Senate Democrats and many in the House that want us to fail. They want American service personnel to be hurt. They want us to fail because success helps Donald Trump. Same thing with Venezuela. What a great success that was. You could not get hardly any Democrats this side of Senator John Fetterman to compliment the President and the military for the execution one of the greatest war functions in the world history, to pull out of a country and indicted co conspirator on cocaine and heroin who had killed thousands of his own citizens and killed hundreds of thousands of Americans because of drugs, and that was a great success. You couldn't get one Democrat to say other than John Fetderman, well, that was a great idea. And now I have a sense that Democrats are rooting against the United States of America. They won failure because it fits them politically, and that is disgusting. Let's continue, go back to your calls. I love hearing from you, the American people. If a line becomes available eight sixty six six four seven seven three three seven, Bill Cunningham called by Barrett Media the top talk show host in America. How about that? Thank you Bill Cunningham, with you every Sunday.
00:37:50
Speaker 9: Man Willie welcome you.
00:38:23
Speaker 1: By Choice Hotels, Econo Lodging roadway In Hotels are serving up double points for every qualifying stay book at choice Hotels dot com. Now here's the man who's been recognized as radio's best, the recipient of not one, but two prestigious Marconi Awards for his broadcast exodence, the one and only Bill Cunninghead.
00:38:44
Speaker 2: Let's get back to the calls. Later on way, Wayne Allen wrote, and James Harrison joining us. Also Keith O'Bryan later on about book the Heartland. We'll talk about that, but just briefly, looking at my left and right now, the Democratic Party has come out ninety nine percent against what's happening in Iran, and the Republican Party is on the opposite side. The exiled Iranian Crown Prince Pavlave has said, this is the beginning of the end. It's either the beginning of the end or the end of the beginning, one or the other. But whatever I cannot conceive of the Iranian people permitting the moolahs and the Iyatola is to control their lives the way it's happened since nineteen seventy nine, I can't conceive of occurring. I guess it's possible, but nonetheless, the Iranian people, it's in your hands. And I think the best thing Donald Trump said was a rise. It's up to you now. There'll be no ground troops from America going into Iran. We've had those experiences in Vietnam and Iraq and Afghanistan, and all three turned out to be disastrous. And Donald Trump, I think, will learn from that because he's not part of the so called establishment, not part of the Clinton Bush duo that dominated American politics for the past twenty five or thirty years. And throw Joe Biden in there with Clinton and Obama and Harris and Tim Waltz. By the way, there's more riots taking place in Minneapolis. More of a few hundred more were arrested for breaking up glasses and throwing nails on roadways and making complete fool of themselves because they're paid to do it. Until judges are not soft on crime is going to continue. If some of these individuals who saw to police officers got six months to year in prison. It will stop. New York City, when those cops were assaulted with ice and snow, some of the snowballs had rocks inside of them. Two or three of the cops in New York City went to the hospital. Mom, Donnie sat out as a childish show. It was a snowball fight, Noah wasn't. It was assault on police officers. And for any of these soft on crime American cities, if you assaulted cops, you should go to prison one to five years without an issue. If you use a gun, you should go to prison for a long periodod of time. If you're eighteen years old and you commit a terrible offense with a gun, you belong in prison for a long time. And the reason so many of our cities are in chaotic conditions is because soft on crime policies, mainly by the judges and the prosecutors, including that comp that fool in Philadelphia, Krasnik, who is going to try to arrest federal agents in Philadelphia.
00:41:22
Speaker 3: It's chaos.
00:41:24
Speaker 2: We cannot reach where we need to get us a great nation under God, indivisible unless our major cities changed completely. What's going on. Let's go to Cleveland speaking about a major city, Cleveland, and so many others, and we have thousands of calls. Got to get to more of them. Let's go to Danny and Cleveland the Home of the Guardians and more. And Danny, I'm sorry, Richard, Richard, welcome to the Bill Cunningham Show.
00:41:48
Speaker 3: Richard, how are you?
00:41:50
Speaker 4: Thank you? Bill.
00:41:51
Speaker 10: It's an honor to speak with you. I think I couldn't agree with you more. I just want to tell you that I'm eighty eight years old and I spent three years in the Army.
00:42:01
Speaker 4: I was lucky.
00:42:02
Speaker 10: I was in between Korea and Vietnam. Yes, and and you mentioned before, you know this is a volunteer army we have today. We don't have a draft, so anybody in the in the service knows the risks they're taking. And it's it's it's not as if they were drafted that they had no choice. But I'll say I agree with you. The Democrats, Uh, they hate Trump so much. And they hate him not because he's evil. They hate him because he's a threat. And they know if he if he succeeds in what he's doing right now, that it's a good chance he can win them in terms.
00:42:45
Speaker 3: And they don't want to say.
00:42:46
Speaker 2: The other thing is this, the Democrat and Republican Party are committed to having candidates start little and get great. Most of them come vertically. You own a bunch of little jobs and go to the top. A lot of a lot of payments would do a lot of But Donald Trump came horizontally. And if he can succeed over the establishment of Democratic reveloping Party, it demonstrates that they're more incompetent than we think. Because I look at someone like Mitch McConnell, for God's sakes, who should not be in the Senate, and God bless him. He's a babbling He's a babbling fool at this point, and he's occupying a seat in the Senate stopping the Save Act from being passed. And so if an outsider can prove the political system can't solve problems, but Donald Trump can, then the system's got problems.
00:43:31
Speaker 10: Yeah, I agree with you. You know, I'll tell you I lost a few Democratic friends that a feel that I had, and I told them.
00:43:40
Speaker 3: This past year.
00:43:41
Speaker 10: I said, if you can look being the eye and tell me that you're proud to be a member of the Democratic Party, I hate to tell it. I hate to tell you, but you're no longer a friend of mine. That's what I told him. In fact, I lost the girlfriend because I told her that too. And it's just I just I just don't know understand it. Well, I guess I do understand. They want power. The only way they can get power.
00:44:06
Speaker 3: Money in power. They want money and.
00:44:09
Speaker 10: Pay and that's why they're against voter I d obviously, and Trump said it very well. It was crude, but he said it the truth. He said, anytime, if you don't want voter ID, you want to cheat. You want to cheat, and that's the only way you guys can get elected.
00:44:25
Speaker 3: Right.
00:44:26
Speaker 2: And also counting your legals as residents instead of American citizens, And there's about ten to fifteen congressional seats in the Democratic Party they shouldn't have because of a census that counts shall we say, residents, and they don't count to citizens. That's another big problem.
00:44:45
Speaker 10: Yeah, you're right, Bill, I'll tell you you're right on the money. And you've been around for quite a while, right, I.
00:44:51
Speaker 11: Know you're not as old anywhere there as I.
00:44:54
Speaker 3: Want to be.
00:44:54
Speaker 2: I want to be. I'd like to be. But Ridgie, we got a room but thanks for your call. Let's go to Dan and Oklahoma, the Home and Sooners and the Cowboys, Danny and Oklahoma. Welcome to the Bill Cunningham Show.
00:45:05
Speaker 3: Danny, how are you fine?
00:45:07
Speaker 12: Bill? Thanks for taking my call as usual. You know you, I think you have the best commentary and perspective in the country when it comes to the news and issues.
00:45:19
Speaker 11: You know, I.
00:45:19
Speaker 12: Agree, But you know, I have to think that part of the strategy with this strike, and I'm glad that the Trump administration went ahead and along with our Israeli allies, and they went ahead and went through this because we've been playing patty cakes. You know, these molas, as you pointed out since nineteen seventy nine, they kill innocent people in their own country. American people are you know, around the world, and it would never end. But I think part of the strategy too with the administration is that I believe China gets correct about eighty percent of oil yeah from and so that's going to put a big hurting on them.
00:46:09
Speaker 3: Correct.
00:46:10
Speaker 13: And you know, as far as you know, you brought up a point, and it should be the American people should be reminded every day that we've got people out there that chant death to America. They go to our colleges, and I don't know why someone like Andrew Cuomo and some of the other you know folks in the media, how come they're not asking Man Danny, the New York mayor, or how about a Keem Jeffries, or how about Chucky Schumer? How come they're not asking them questions about how come they're not condemning you know, you know these so called college students that you know, threaten our country. They they they, you know, just like the mollusk shanning death to America right here in our own country.
00:47:02
Speaker 2: How about this? Let me read your story out of Colemba University. The anti Israeli student group Columbia University Apartheid Divest posted death to America in Persian on Saturday night and Sunday morning as US and Israel launch strikes against the Islamic regime, and they're condemning America marching around campus death to America. It's to me, it's disgusting when American citizens during war are urging the death of fellow Americans. Many I don't know if they're Americans or not, but Columbia University, the Ivy League I mean one hundred thousand dollars a year, and they spend their time not learning the academics. They spend their time protesting and urging the killing of their fellow citizens inside of this country. And they're disgusted by the behavior of Donald Trump. And they support the Ayatola who killed thirty five to forty thousand of his own people, which doesn't concerns me greatly, but let's face it, he's also killed thousands of Americans. The Iranian regime has killed thousands of Americans directly indirectly. Why don't they care about Americans as much as they care about the Ietola?
00:48:11
Speaker 12: One might ask exactly, I mean, has this become part of the Ivy League.
00:48:17
Speaker 4: Yes, yes, curriculum.
00:48:20
Speaker 12: Let me get it.
00:48:21
Speaker 7: Now.
00:48:21
Speaker 2: Let me give you another fact toward Danny Gallup ran a poll and they asked the question, are you proud to be an American?
00:48:29
Speaker 7: Now?
00:48:30
Speaker 2: To me, you know it's one hundred percent even when America makes mistakes. I'm a practicing Roman Catholic. I understand about sin, that kind of stuff, go to confession, bless me, Father f Ive's sin. But I have a great feeling about this country. I love the United States of America. How about this number. If you're between the ages of eighteen and thirty years old, twenty six percent of that group are proud to be Americans. Twenty six percent. Break it down by gender, it's down to nineteen percent. Of female eighteen to thirty years old, nineteen percent are proud to be Americans. That means eighty one percent or not. Do we have a problem.
00:49:08
Speaker 12: Yeah, they're buying all that propaganda, that liberal Marxist to propaganda.
00:49:14
Speaker 3: Bok Glide and sinker.
00:49:16
Speaker 2: Well, I'll tell you what, Danny, that our colleges are centers of indoctrination, not education. I got a call allegedly from Moscow, Russia on the internet. Is this Bob and Moscow Russia?
00:49:32
Speaker 14: Hello, mister Cunningham, Yes it is. And you talked to me about three or four months ago, and he said to call back in three to four months.
00:49:40
Speaker 3: I did.
00:49:40
Speaker 2: Oh, I'm glad I did. Now what do you have now? Give me the Russian viewpoint of what's happening in Iran.
00:49:48
Speaker 14: Well, the Russian viewpoint is going to be the same as would do with anything else. It's opposite. And they're basically saying, hey, if the United States says, we don't have a right to protect our sovereign nation by going into Ukraine, Then why does the United States have the right to go in t Iran. So they're basically saying, if Russia is wrong, then the United States is wrong, and they're saying that the United States says they're right, then the world has to admit that Russia's right for protecting their own boundaries.
00:50:22
Speaker 2: And Bob, I've heard Putin and others say it this way. Then America had a civil war, and that when the Democrats in the South said, we don't want to be Americans anymore, we're separating. We went to war to keep South Carolina, North Carolina, Georgia inside the Republic. And so he compares what's happening in Ukraine to our civil war. Now I reject that completely, but nonetheless, Ukrainian people were free of the USSR. They had a treaty with Russia, and the treaty with US indicated that if Ukraine gave up its nuclear weapons, America would defend Ukraine. That was the deal that was made under President Bill Clinton.
00:51:03
Speaker 9: Correctly, right, right.
00:51:04
Speaker 14: But correct with one inference. There was also a clause that the United States would not interfere with or natal with United States or any NATO country want to interfere.
00:51:19
Speaker 9: With the well being of Ukraine.
00:51:22
Speaker 7: And when the.
00:51:22
Speaker 14: United States infiltrated and helped the overthrow of the Russian back president, that gave them the excuse for every un that's happening because the Ukrainian people just didn't one day some of the people overthrow and throw molotov cocktails and everything else. You know that, I know that We're not stupid, You're very smart. Same thing with Iran, what's going on.
00:51:48
Speaker 15: It's a Shei she versus she I issue.
00:51:52
Speaker 14: It's a a religious division problem as far as I'm concerned, because before the off fell, the Shehites, the ones living in poverty. The Shehites were the ones that were taken advantage of by is she a regime?
00:52:14
Speaker 2: Let me ask us, are you an American in Moscow? Can you speak the truth without fear of being arrested?
00:52:21
Speaker 4: Yes? I can.
00:52:22
Speaker 3: Why it is.
00:52:26
Speaker 14: Because at my age, if they want to arrest the same thing in the United States, if I want to go and stand outside a clinic where they're abusing kids and causing them to change their sex, I might get arrested. The United States. But it's not going to stop me from voicing my opinion saying that is wrong because that's wrong against my beliefs as a Catholic, it's wrong against what God says. And if it is what it is to be in the end, it's God's path for me. God will choose what happens for me.
00:53:02
Speaker 11: Bob.
00:53:02
Speaker 2: Are you an American in Russia? Are you a Russian? You speak English so well. Are you an American living in Moscow? Are you a Russian?
00:53:12
Speaker 14: I'm American living. I'm an American living in Moscow. When I was twelve years old, my world history teacher taught us all about the Ottoman Empire and the Russian Empire, and I fell in love with the history of this area. And at that point I told my parents was a result one day I wanted to live in Russia and explore the history of the Ottoman in Russian empires.
00:53:38
Speaker 2: Right, we'll tell you what empires Turkey in three or four months. Call me back.
00:53:43
Speaker 14: I sure will, because it's going to be interesting to see who gets put in office in Iran, whether it's a Si shite or Shia facts person, and if the same thing's going to happen.
00:53:58
Speaker 6: And I ran.
00:54:00
Speaker 14: Then happened in when a side was taken overthrown. When the side was overthrown, the population of three hundred Christians is now down to one hundred thousand or lesson this is terrible Syrian citizens that had a leap, because he said the new over the Talban machine is genocide, basically getting rid of every single Christian that's there, and every single person.
00:54:28
Speaker 3: Terrible, terrible.
00:54:32
Speaker 2: At least Iraq is not killing the Assyrians, and Iraqis are not now killing American says.
00:54:38
Speaker 3: Iran is done.
00:54:39
Speaker 2: Bob, I got a run, but call me back in three or four minutes by now we know the outcome.
00:54:43
Speaker 14: I will if I'm still if I'm still alive or still.
00:54:46
Speaker 2: Here, well, if you're dead, call me anyway, just just contact me, Okay.
00:54:50
Speaker 14: I'll call you.
00:54:51
Speaker 3: I'll call you in your prayers either way.
00:54:53
Speaker 2: Thank you, Bob. Let's continue, Bill Cunningham with you every Sunday night. Let's continue. Whenever stop, we simply continue. By the way, Bob from Moscow, I think I've talked to him maybe three or four times the last few years. His area code and code indicates a call from Russia. Always have a doubt. I assume as a listener and a caller, you speak truth to power, you identify yourself where you're from. And I believe now that Bob on a Sell calls from Moscow, Russia, which is now there seven to twenty seven am tomorrow, which is pretty good. If he knew what's going to happen now, he'd make a lot of money in the stock market. I'm only kidding, but nonetheless, Bob, thanks for calling from Moscow, and call me every now and then. Secondly, there was a large sign a hauled behind a plane on the beaches at California that said the running people think President Trump. It's kind of odd to say, but Trump is more popular now in Venezuela and in Israel, in uh Iran and most likely Cuba next Cuba wants to become the fifty first state. Then Donald Trump is popular in the United States Senate with the Democrats. In fact, the Democrats give the president about a ten percent approval factor when Venezuelans, Iranians, Cubans and many others in India, Donald Trump has loved in India and Pakistan, despite the fact in Karachi our embassy was sought to be taken over. But guess what the US Marines now are told in these embassies, shoot to kill, shoot to kill the protesters. They have a line. You can't come past that line. If you come past that line, you get shot. And in Karachi, Pakistan last night twenty two were shot. Who thought they could take over the American embassy in Karachi, Pakistan.
00:56:56
Speaker 3: Well guess what? Not really, fa fo fa fo, And they.
00:57:02
Speaker 2: Found out this isn't Jimmy Carter's America anymore.
00:57:07
Speaker 3: Let's continue now.
00:57:07
Speaker 2: I'm going to put a call in James Hearson talk about the situation in California with support for the president. Later on as the Great Wayne Allen Root Root for America dot Com and maw His tweets are unbelievable. Bill Cunningham, the Great American, with you and all great Americans every Sunday Night.
00:57:33
Speaker 3: Bill Cunningham, the Great American.
00:57:34
Speaker 2: Of course, James Hearson from the left coast, the left side of the political spectrum as dominating California. James Harson does not buy into that. James Harson is a cultural law and a business expert. A lawyer like myself, also dabbles in music, which I enjoy, but nonetheless, James Hearson, welcome again to the Bill Cunningham Show. And first of all, James, we scheduled this a couple of days ago to talk about some of the craziness in California and what you don't want to export that to the rest of the country. But now what's happening in Iran is taking a little bit of presidents and when I watched the protest in La Sacramento, et cetera, it seems to be more pro Iranian than anti Trump. Am I reading that wrong?
00:58:15
Speaker 4: No, you're reading it right.
00:58:16
Speaker 16: Bill. You know today today on the beaches across southern California, particularly in Los Angeles, somebody had chartered a plane, a pretty good sized plane with a giant banner who was going back and forth across the beach and what it said was thank you President Trump from the Iranian people.
00:58:45
Speaker 4: And so that just gives you.
00:58:47
Speaker 16: I mean, this is Southern California, the bluest of the blue, and you know, somebody put up and I think this happened in Los Angeles and New York. There were trucks that had pulled up to these designated protests and pulling preprinted signs out of the back and distributing them to the And I have to put it in quotes. The protesters, you know, it was they looked to be retired, many of them were female, They were mostly non minorities. They were mostly retired Caucasians out there, and of course, one of the retired Caucasians. It brings back old nostalgic memories for you, Bill was Hanoy Jane Fonda. Somehow they gave her.
00:59:47
Speaker 4: I don't know they gave her an invitation.
00:59:49
Speaker 11: But you know, there's an inference when.
00:59:51
Speaker 16: We keep finding out that these are organized, that they're not spontaneous, that there's big money behind them, and it's sure appeared like a lot of the people were there to bring in a little extra money.
01:00:05
Speaker 2: Well, you know, I call them awful, which is angry white female liberals. That the awful element will always be there because they feel as if their miserable lives need some meaning. And most of them, of course are not married, don't have children, don't have grandchildren.
01:00:21
Speaker 3: They have some meaning in their life.
01:00:23
Speaker 2: It's rekicking the Vietnam War crowd of some sixty years ago, fifty years ago, and they feel emboldened, they feel powerful because most of them hate Trump, more than more than they love America, And I kind of want you to. I looked at one of your old tweets, going back to August sixth of twenty twenty five, not too long ago, you said, quote, if America is to survive as a nation, it's important that our people have a more comprehensive, fuller understanding of the hair and dangers of communism. And wouldn't the same principles applied to the jihad aspects of Iran, Hesbla hamas a Boca Haram picked pick the Islamic offshoot, that the same principle applies to them as to communism.
01:01:07
Speaker 16: Oh, yes, it does, because they're both totalitarian and nature they both are anti Christian and anti Jewish, and they both want to take God out of the public square. In the case of course, the islamisis they want to put their particular view of religion.
01:01:28
Speaker 4: In the public square.
01:01:30
Speaker 16: But the fact is that so many of these people, they get all of their information from NPR and ms NOW and CNN, and they have no idea of what reality is. I mean, you know, the Democrats are out saying that the president's military action in Iran is illegal, that it's unconstitutional. And the fact is, and you know this because you're a lawyer, though the War Powers Act of nineteen seven requires notice, and Marco Rubia was careful to give notice to all.
01:02:07
Speaker 4: Of the Gang of Eight, all of.
01:02:09
Speaker 16: The members of Congress that have access to classified information. And of course, you know, they did it close as close as they could to the actual mission beginning, because we know that if you if.
01:02:25
Speaker 4: You told many of the.
01:02:28
Speaker 16: Office holders of the Democrat Party and some of the Republican Party, they would leak it right and it would undermine the mission. And it's critical that there's an element of surprise. And I think part of the reason that they did it on a Friday night in a joint operation with Israel's because Friday nights is the Sabbath and normally, you know, the Jewish people don't engage in this kind of activity. And I think it was also Ramadan as well, so they wanted to pick the right time, and they also wanted to make sure that their targets, particularly the Supreme Leader.
01:03:17
Speaker 11: And now I.
01:03:18
Speaker 16: Think the total that we're being told is forty eight high level leaders taken out in the first twenty four hours. That's extraordinary. This is the same type of military operation that took place in Venezuela.
01:03:34
Speaker 4: This precision, and I see the mark of Raisin.
01:03:39
Speaker 16: Kane Jim o'caine, because that guy is an amazing military strategist. He uses the word from the entertainment field, he uses the word rehearsing, and that's what he does. He has run throughs and rehearsals with all of the key players on his side where they're going to go, and tries to minimize mistakes, which is why during that period of the first initiation of this extraordinary military incursion, there were no casualties on the side of the US. Now there are some, but minimal in comparison with the scope of this mission. So you know, there's still a lot of danger and we still have I'm sure weeks to go. But the Iranian people, I have an Iranian god daughter, I have I guess Iranian family, and I have friends, and they are so so grateful, and they are so hopeful. For the first time in fifty years, they have hope that just maybe they could get some sort of a new approach in Iran with some semblance of a real sense of freedom and maybe some of the human rights and the horrible treatment of women.
01:05:19
Speaker 11: And isn't it ironic that's the left.
01:05:22
Speaker 4: Out here in California.
01:05:23
Speaker 16: Yes, the ones that say they're feminists, the ones that say they're for gay people and they're for human rights. Here they are taking the side of Iran.
01:05:37
Speaker 2: I'd like to think it's ignorance rather than artifact. I like to think that the awfuls, the angry white female liberals really understand that they did the same thing in Iran or most of the Middle East, that they would be thrown off the top of buildings. It's amazing to me how women are treated in the Islamic world that the women in American colleges should spend their time protesting the treatment of females in the Islamic world. Whether you're in Saudi Arabia or Jordan, God help a woman in Iran or Iraq. The Burkas, the general Mutilations, the second class hell, they're fourth class citizens, and they're applauding the efforts of Iran against us, when in reality they would be tortured and murdered in Iran. But they're taking the side of Iran. In fact, it's fair to say that Donald Trump right now is more popular with the people of Iran and Venezuela than with the Democratic Party. I think the Democrats in America give them about a ten percent approval factor. But right now I'm surprised Gavin Newssen's air force did not shoot down that Banner plane and in the beaches of California. But it's amazing that Donald Trump's popular with the people of Iran and the people of Venezuela, just not with Democrats.
01:06:53
Speaker 16: Yeah, I guess. But there are some people who are registered Democrats who are from Iran and from that region, and I think they've become They've been converted, they've been won over. There there new members of MAGA, and it's yeah, I think it's yeah, yes, exactly.
01:07:17
Speaker 4: John Fetterman is the one.
01:07:18
Speaker 16: And and there are some Democrats who are breaking away from this ridiculous call, claiming illegality and claiming.
01:07:28
Speaker 11: That they have to have an emergency.
01:07:31
Speaker 16: Passing up some resolution uh to curtail President Trump, when in fact, everything he's done has been by the book, it's been constitutional, and he's doing what ought to be done under the circumstances. And it's something that virtually the last half a dozen presidents talked about doing and they just they didn't have the strength in this outsider spine that President Trump has, and he knows there's risks here, but he's willing to take the risk considering the potential reward, which could be the biggest geopolitical shift since the fall of the Berlin.
01:08:21
Speaker 2: Wall and James Herzen the War Powers Act in nineteen seventy three. You might recall that America had enough about Vietnam and Cambodia. So the Republicans and the Democrats, mainly the Republicans, I mean, at that point, Nixon had just won forty nine states, and so the Republicans and Democrats passed a law resolution that said notified the Congress within forty eight hours of the commencement of activities militarily, which of course Rubio has done. And then the President has sixty to ninety days to complete the mission, and after that he may have to come back to the Congress for more actions. So if this thing is still going on in the next three months, I'd be shocked. But he's complied with every aspect of the War Powers Act exactly.
01:09:07
Speaker 16: And somehow, some how, certain media outlets haven't reported that, and they bring on their legal analysts, and the legal analyst doesn't report it the way you said it so beautifully.
01:09:20
Speaker 4: They don't.
01:09:21
Speaker 16: They don't have so they have to get Bill Cunningham as a guest on CNN as a legal analyst.
01:09:27
Speaker 2: All I know is the reading the law and interpreting it. And I was a very young man at that point. But I recall in seventy two, seventy three, seventy four that is extremely unpopular the Vietnam War, and they passed the resolution and Donald Trump's complied, but the letter of the law completely. So when I hear leftists complain about unconstitutional legal a lot of the morning talk shows dealt with that, and I'm thinking, well, what law are you reading that I'm not reading now. Secondly, the reason I scheduled a few nights ago, a few days ago, was to talk about Steve Hilton running for the Congress, I'm sorry, running for the governorship of the state of California. And you have a beautiful column as to why it might happen. I find it hard to believe that Californias have not figured it out yet. Why do you have hope that Steve Hilton can actually win the governorship of the state of California.
01:10:16
Speaker 16: Well, hope is a theological virtue, so we have to have hope.
01:10:19
Speaker 4: But I'll tell you here's an interesting thing.
01:10:21
Speaker 16: A few days ago, an outfit called the Public Policy Institute of California.
01:10:27
Speaker 4: Came out with a poll.
01:10:29
Speaker 9: There are nine.
01:10:31
Speaker 16: Democrats running and two Republicans, and one of the Republicans, as you mentioned, is Steve Hilton, former Fox News hosts, former advisor to David Cameron, the Prime Minister in England.
01:10:45
Speaker 11: He has some experience and guess.
01:10:48
Speaker 16: What, the polls shocked California because there's another Republican by the way, Chad Diancle of the Riverside Sheriff.
01:10:56
Speaker 4: Is a good guy.
01:10:57
Speaker 16: But right now Hilton and Bianco are in first and second place in the poll, and Democrats are freaking out because if all nine of these candidates stay in, they may fragment the vote in this jungle primary, and it's possible that the first two finishers will end up being the candidates in the general election, and California will have a GOP governor for sure, because it would be a GOP candidate versus that's what they're afraid of. So they're already pressuring some of the we'll call them the candidates that don't have as much money. And the candidates here is like the Star Wars bar saying it is really on the Democrat side. Just unbelievable, you know, Katie Porter, Eric Swallwell to get Antonio via Riaghosa of the former mayor of Los Angeles is there. It's just it's really a sad group. And so the tech guys up there in Silicon Valley have taken a guy used to be the mayor of San Jose. His name is Matt Mayhan, and they're.
01:12:22
Speaker 11: Pushing him with tons of money.
01:12:25
Speaker 16: And and he he's supposed to be a sensible Democrat, he's supposed to be a moderate Democrat, and of course we've been sold that line so many times.
01:12:37
Speaker 4: But he's gonna have a lot of money.
01:12:38
Speaker 16: So he's going to end up, I think on the Democrat side, you know, Swallowell, because he's gotten.
01:12:44
Speaker 4: A lot of.
01:12:46
Speaker 16: You know, attention, He's gonna get money. Maybe Fang Fang will give him a donation, I don't know. But and also of course Katie Porter, who's been around a long time member of Congress, and she's and these are flawed candidates for sure, and Matt Mayhead has a problem because nobody knows who he is. So Steve Hilton is looking. He's in a good position, probably the best since Arnold Schwarzenegger, to have a shot, and his ideas are very sound. And the thing is, of course, our current governor, who's not never here and doesn't care about governing, has course left a track record that allows Steve Hilton to have a ton to talk about.
01:13:42
Speaker 2: Right in one of these studies, I saw, I have the list there of the of the most affordable states and the least affordable states. Top of the list least affordable state number one, James Harrison, California, number two, Hawaii, number three, New Jersey number four, New York number five, Washington, number.
01:14:00
Speaker 3: Six, Massachusetts.
01:14:02
Speaker 2: How about the most affordable states, Well, those would be Arkansas, those would be I'm sorry, Mississippi, and then Oklahoma, Louisiana, South Dakota, Alabama. And there's one connection. The least affordable states are all Democrats. The most affordable states are all Republican. So when the Democrats talk about affordability, look in the mayor. Because California is unaffordable. James Hurston up against clock, gotta go once again, and thanks for your comments. And Steve Hilton, if he becomes the governor of California, I'd be a state at of shock and disbelief.
01:14:38
Speaker 3: But it ought to happen. But James Hurston, thank you very much.
01:14:42
Speaker 4: All Right, thank you, Bill. We'd be very grateful to have Governor Hilton.
01:14:47
Speaker 2: I'll bet you twelve chicken wings. I'll tell you whoever the Democrat is, even the derelict like Swallowell or a Porter, I'll give you any Republican and that way I went either way, so once you.
01:14:59
Speaker 16: Probably, but we we got to pass the Save Act.
01:15:02
Speaker 2: Got to terrible. But what happens in California, Blue states, it is ridiculous. James Hurston, thank you very much.
01:15:09
Speaker 15: Thank you.
01:15:09
Speaker 2: Let's continue with more Bill cunning in the Great American with you every Sunday night. Try Billy cunning him the Great American. James Herson. Imagine the banners flying in California thanking Donald Trump. Maybe the US Senators from California should read those banners. Coming up next is the great Wayne allenot Root for America. He's xed out, tweeted out a lot about this from a Las Vegas perspective, what's going to happen in the future, and what whether or not Wayne Allen Root supports Donald Trump. That could be oxymorony, because of course he does. You may not know Wayne on the Route was the original Mega member. He was the guy that started the whole movement. So let's continue with more Root next. Don't want to miss it. Bill Cunningham with you every Sunday night.
01:16:15
Speaker 1: Willie brough you by Choice Hotels, Econo Lodge and Roadway In Hotels are serving up double points for every qualifying stay book at choice Hotels dot com. Now here's the man who's been recognized as radio's best, the recipient of not one, but two prestigious Marconi Awards for his broadcast excellence, the one and only Bill cunning Ahead, Bill.
01:16:43
Speaker 2: Cunning End the Grand America. Of course, early Saturday morning, Oh Hell broke loose in the Middle East as the President kept true to his promises about Iran, and I Tola KOMENI is now with those seventy two virgins celebrating in Hell his life. And I would point out a couple of sentences before we hear from wayn Island Route from the Washington Post, and you might know the Washington Post loses about one hundred million dollars a year. You go woke, you go broke, And the Washington Post said today quote with his bushy white beard an easy smile, Iyad Toola Komaney cut a more avuncular figure in public than his perpetually scowling but much more revered mentor. And he was known to be fond of Persian poetry and classic Western novels, especially Victor hugoes Le's Miserabla Well on the Route. That was one of a couple sentences from The Washington Post the comments about the passage, I always say, I I Toola Komaney.
01:17:40
Speaker 3: Your comments on that and so much.
01:17:41
Speaker 7: More, well, you know, I would just say simply, he was the NF Hitler of our time, one of the most horrible human beings in the world, up there with the Hitlers and the Stalins. He was a murderer, mass murderer of his own people and of Jewish people and of Americans, and funded terrorism around the world to countless depths. One of the most evil people that ever lived. And God blessed President Trump for eliminating him. How about that? That's my obituary.
01:18:07
Speaker 2: How about you doing the Obituary instead of the Washington Post, and watching a lot of the morning talk shows. It's all talking about all the unknowns. It's imponderable. After all, this was a war of choice according to the Democrats. I think many Senate Democrats want Trump to lose for political purposes. They hate Trump more than the love of America. But give me your take first of all the opposition, then we'll get in the substance of the matter.
01:18:33
Speaker 7: Well look, well you have to look no further than the state of the Union. Right, nice, I'm seizing there we go. See when you see this, you're telling the truth. Yeah, you look no further than the state of the Union. When Trump looked at him and said, you are crazy. They are crazy, Well they are you know anyone who wouldn't stand when someone well he got you know, look, Trump set them up with one of the greatest lines of all tide. You know stand you if you love American citizens and you wanted to send them more than illegal aliens. They didn't know what to do. They sat on their hands. They looked like angry, bitter people who support illegal aliens over American citizens. It was one of the most brilliant displays of I guess you'd say gamesmanship in the history of politics. You know, bravo President Trump. He won that one big time. And by the way, you know, when people look at speeches, press conferences, States of the Union, any of those things, nobody remembers any of the facts. No one remembers what you said. They remember one line that was funny or controversial or just a grand slam home run. For the rest of all time, they remember that line. Well, they're all going to remember, you know, stand if you believe in American citizens over illegals, and they're all going to remember that they are crazy the way Trump said it, which is beautiful. That's all anyone will ever remember. And I hope that's what they remember the midterms. The only reason I'm not positive about the midterms, even after Trump one big in the State of the Union, is because, you know, if we don't pass the Save Act, I just believe the cheating will be so bad that there stands a good chance we're gonna lose because historically, you know, the party in power all loses in the midterms. And then Trump has no power for the last two years. He's basically neutered for the last two years, and then if you don't win in twenty eight. You know what was Trump four in twenty four one of the great victories of all time? What was it?
01:20:11
Speaker 14: For?
01:20:12
Speaker 7: All you got was two years out of it and then nothing else. And then Democrats take control and open the borders again and finally ruined the United States. That's what we're looking at. And they won't pass the save back. You know, I put out a tweet today and then we'll get to of course we'll get to Iran, because that's the big story of today. But I put out a tweet today about Mitch McConnell because the guy blocking the save back to Mick McConnell. He's also one of the four votes against it. He's also, of course, will never go for the you know, kind of the one day philibuster. You know, I would go for a full filibuster, gone goodbye, But even like a one day, one issue what they call it a talking filibuster, he won't even do that. And he just doesn't want this thing to even come to a vote. And I just think it's another example. It's just like Bill Clinton, right, Bill Clinton, I.
01:20:55
Speaker 9: Mean Joe Biden.
01:20:57
Speaker 7: Joe Biden was brain dead he was not really president of the United States. People were covering for him. Other people were carrying out his decisions. And it's the same thing with Mitch McConnell. He's clearly weekend at Bernie's. He's a brain dead cadaver sitting in a wheelchair. The man is the GOP version of Biden. He needs baby food spoons fed to him and his diapers changed. And someone else is voting for him and making his decisions. And who is it? Is it China and the Chinese Communist Party? Is it the Democrat Party? Is it the Deep State and the CIA? All I know is he no longer has control of his own voting. Clearly, he's a you know, an old man slumped over the wheelchair and he stares blankly into space, and he's dribbling on himself. And these are the enemies of the United States. Republicans who will not allow the Save Act to be passed because they want to be the minority party and they want Democrats in control so they can scream all day while they get all the payments, get all the bribes, get all the campaign cash by screaming all day how terrible Democrats are, but never having power to actually do anything, and Democrats have all the power. They love that. This is what rhinos and sellouts live for. And Mitch McConnell's a great example that he's not controlled his vote anymore. And your future and your kid's future is all being decided by a man slumped over the wheelchair and people voting for him. It's all a scam. It really is a scam. It's a conspiracy. It is a ripoff of the American people. It's bad government on both sides, Republican and Democrat. Continuing, there's nothing more important than passing the SABAC right now.
01:22:31
Speaker 2: It needs to be passed, and Mitch McConnell, chair of the so called Senate Rules Committee, will not pass it out of the committee because he is incompetent, mentally and physically incompetent polio victim. He fought famously through all that and here at the end of his career he's ruined it. And because of the predilections of Kentucky law, even if he would step down, it's uncertain who would be appointed. The Republicans say, you got to choose in these three names in this list. The governor Bischer says, I'm not going to do that, and so in federal court, god knows what would happen. But McConnell's ending his career as igno me as individual that is siding with the most liberal parts of the Democrat Party, and not a damn thing get me done. I don't think the save that's gonna pass, be honest with you because of Mitch McConnell. And imagine, why do we fight so hard. I want to see some Democrats. I want to see him purp walked and I want to say back passed. And I fear we're gonna get neither right.
01:23:27
Speaker 7: And by the way, it's a memorable thing because you know what it reminds me of. It reminds me of the last moment of John McCain's life. Here's a guy that was a war hero. And I was always careful what I said about McCain because whether I agree with them or disagree with him, even if I thought he was a Rhino, he was a great American war hero. You know, people tell me he wasn't such a war hero. He did bad things in Vietnam as a prisoner of war. I don't know if that's true. Any guy who you know who literally almost dies for his country and then serves years in prison as a prisoner of war. I you know, I honor him, I salute him, so that part of his life I loved. But you can't gloss over the fact that at the very end of his life, his last act was to give the middle finger to every person that ever voted for him for thirty years, everyone who ever elected him to the House and the Senate. You know, their main goal towards the end of his career was to he was going to help overturn Obamacare. And because he hated Trump so much, just like Mitch McConnell hates Trump so much, and the deep State hates Trump so much, and China and the CCP hate Trump so much, and the Mexican drug cartel and all of them hate Trump because he gets in the way of them ripping off taxpayers. John McCain's last act was to put thumbs down to kill Obamacare. So he you know, asked for people's money and ask for people's votes and said, I'm a Republican Conservative and I'm going to kill Obamacare. And then at the end, because he hated Trump so much, he literally didn't kill Obama care. He killed the idea of killing Obamacare and kept Obamacare live for the rest of all time. That was his last act, destroying the healthcare system in the United States, which, by the way, is the whole you know, fifty percent of the whole affordability issue in America is medical build and health insurance and doctor bills and healthcare, and also the fact that you wait a long time to see a doctor. Now you can't even get into a doctor in Vegas because there's so many illegal aliens waiting in line ahead of you. Now you can't even get in. It takes like six months to see a specialist in Las Vegas. It's becoming as bad as as Canada, England with the government run healthcare. You let all these illegals in and they're waiting in line. Thirty million plus illegals are literally, you know, junking up the system, you know, in front of you. And this is all a disaster. Same number of doctors, but you added thirty million Americans out of the blue when you open the borders. So this is a disaster. And John McCain bears the brunt of it. In the last day of his life or last days of his life, this man turned a trader to everything he ever said he stood for and everything he ever you know, voted for, you know, in the past, he suddenly became a turncoat to all of it. He's like a Bennet mcdarnold, and and so is Mitch McConnell. Terrible people. And you just wonder, are they voting for the Chinese Communist Party? Are they voting for China? Are they voting for other enemies the United States Deep State? Or just people that paid them off, who are billionaire globalists that don't like any of the stuff because they get rich of of all the things Waiter and Bill cut him hate.
01:26:15
Speaker 2: Well, uh correct. Getting back to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, a lot of the commentary indication, even though Komani is with those virgins riding in hell, that somehow there's going to be another Hitler to take over. And there's reporting that the Trumpster has been touched indirectly or directly with elements of the regular Iranian army who are not the so called IRGC, and they would like relief, he seemed to indicated early a few hours ago. The Trumpster did that he's been in contact with the next leader over that person that could be a hot seat to become a leader of around at this point, could be a could be a death sentence. But nonetheless, how do you see it playing out as far as the next week or two or three, Because at this point the media is jumping on Trump with both fate every Democrat except Fetterman. I find myself becoming a fan of John Fetterman, something I thought I would never believe. But nonetheless, how will this play out and the world order goes right?
01:27:12
Speaker 4: Now?
01:27:13
Speaker 2: Never has Iran been so weak, as weak and as Russia is right now, or maybe communists read China. And to me, this has been a brilliant political move by the trump Ster. What is Wayne Allen Ruth say?
01:27:25
Speaker 7: Well, first of all, John Fetterman should switch over to the Republican Party.
01:27:28
Speaker 9: That's number one. That's so obvious to me.
01:27:30
Speaker 7: He's not a Democrat anymore. That's not your father or grandfather's Democrat party. Fetterman is out of touch with him. He is on our side on so many issues, and it is a good guy. And what's compromise and what's to reach across the aisle? And you can't do that with radical communist You know, wackos who are traders to our country that you saw on display at the State of Union. And by the way, that was my commentary early in the week that that was God versus Satan. I mean, God gave Trump the right words to out the Democrat Party as the party of Satan. They're like demon poss They're crazy. Elan Omar is demon possessed. Rashida Talib is demon possessed. They hate this country and and they should be deported, disgusting people. And the whole Democrat Party is like them. So, I mean, they're really mad. For one reason, that's because Trump is stopping them for ripping off the American people. He's getting in their way, and they don't like that, you know, And so it's it's a real problem. And Federman's a normal guy, and I think he belongs. He should make the switch to the Republican Party. And that gives us one more senator. He may not be with us one hundred percent of time, but I guarantee you he'd vote with us more than than Murkowski or Collins McConnell.
01:28:37
Speaker 16: Right.
01:28:39
Speaker 7: So, but as far as this Iran look, I think Trump's a genius.
01:28:43
Speaker 15: I think it's fantastic.
01:28:45
Speaker 7: Uh. You know, I'm obviously angry at the Tucker Carlson's and the Marjorie Taylor Greens and the Canvas Owens. They're not Republicans anymore, they're not mag anymore. They're dividing our party, They're dividing our nation. It's very obvious now, Bill, the enemy of America is not Israel and Jewes. The enemy of America is radicalized Islam and radicalized Muslims in the United States and in Europe pouring cross open borders, and these are people. Look at Austin. I don't know what happened in Washington today, there was a mass stamping attack. I don't know if that was related or not, but certainly Austin was Iranian terrorists related. And there will be more because we let in millions under Joe Biden, millions of dangerous people. So there's going to be sleeper cells all over this country and over the next month we will get hit, I'm sure multiple times, and Americans will die. Thanks Joe Biden, Thank his boss, Barack Obama, Thank the open borders Democrat party. Trump has done his job. It's not about Iran, it's not about Ran attacking Israel. It's about Iran funding terrorism all around the world for decades now, causing trouble for American citizens, causing trouble all over the world, and causing trouble for our biggest ally Israel. And you know, the hatred death to America, which is not just the chance that Iran to of their citizens. But if you saw today at my alma mater, Columbia University, the same group that led the anti Jewish, anti Israel protests, you know, year and a half ago, whenever that was the pro Palestinian Prohamas protests, that same group put out a tweet about death to America. These are people that have no right to be in my country or your country, no right at all. And we need to kick them out of Columbia and kick them out of America and send them back to Gaza or Iran, that's where they belong. To drop them into Iran, parachute them. Good luck, good luck to them, their enemies of the United States of America.
01:30:34
Speaker 9: They don't belong here.
01:30:35
Speaker 7: So it look Trump is doing a great job. The first day we eliminated Iatola Komani, we eliminated the former president. What is an abdimit I can ever prove yeah, sone, he's gone. There's another one of the world's greatest Jew haters, right up there with Hitler who wanted to master every single Jew in the world and eliminate everyone who lives in Israel. That guy was hit and he's dead. Ayatola is dead. Forty eight generals are Israel did a wonderful job somehow getting them all in one place at one time with some sort of message and then dropping a bomb on their heads and killing them all.
01:31:08
Speaker 9: I love it.
01:31:09
Speaker 7: So look, the world is getting rid of the biggest problem in the world, but thanks to President Donald J. Trump and America and Israel. So we should be giving a debt of gratitude to all of them, not attacking them. And I just think it's horrible that Tucker Carlson and Candice Owens and Marjorie Taylor Green want to divide our party, divide our country at the same time that Iranian Americans and Iranians in Canada are celebrating President Trump in front of massive turnouts of like hundreds of thousands of people from Iran that live in America and Toronto, Canada are out there with signs saying God bless President Trump, we love Christ Trump. They're singing praise to President Trump. And yet and that Tucker Crofton calls evil and disgusting. Tucker Carlson is so off track at this point. He just should not be involved in anything with Mago or the Republican Party. No one, a no good person, should listen to anything he has to say.
01:32:03
Speaker 3: Tucker's lost his way.
01:32:04
Speaker 2: But it's kind of the Trumpster's more popular now in Venezuela and Iran with the people than any American's ever been. So the Democratic Party is against Donald Trump, but the Venezuelans and the Iranian people are with Donald Trump. Along with the so called GCC, which is Oman Aman Kuwait H Cutter, Saudi Arabia, Bach Rain, UAE, they stand with America. So the Arab States are with America, Egypt with America against Iran, which is unbelievable. And the Democratic Party stands in opposition to that. But John Fenderman speaks more like a Republican. Mitch McConnell, I think all Hell's breaking.
01:32:47
Speaker 7: Is if you said any of this the year ago, right, I love I thought him and I run the same team. If you said any of this to me a year ago, you told me that Marjorie Taylor Green was going to turn against Trump and attack everything he does. That everything now, everything he does is no good. He's not MAGA. You know this was not what I signed up for. First of all, let me tell you what you signed up for, Marjorie Taylor Green. Nobody knows maga more than Wayne Rude. I was the Liberty in candidate for president of the United States in two thousand and eight, and I won the Libertarian vice presidential nomination. I came about five votes awake winning the presidential nomination in two thousand and eight, and I kind of I was the original inventor of MAGA. You know my campaign was MAGA, built before anyone knew Mega. Matter of fact, you endorsed me.
01:33:28
Speaker 4: I did.
01:33:29
Speaker 7: My first p did help me a lot. It gave me a lot of publicity, and I set it from day one to libertarians whose whole goal was to have open borders. Believe or not. Libertaire and Party believed in open borders, and they hated Israel and wanted no foreign ad to anyone, especially Israel. And I got on the ticket presidential ticket by saying I agree we should not have wars. I agree. I'm a man of peace, but there's one exception, and I'm against foreign aid. With one exception Israel. I will always stick with Israel always, and I'm against war, but what we need one bill. A war is fine as long as you drop the bombs, destroy the country and then leave. Don't stay and.
01:34:06
Speaker 2: Read no grounds, no grown true Trump, no ground trick.
01:34:11
Speaker 7: So Trump is maga, but he sticks with Israel and he only bombs and leaves. He's doing everything right that I said when I invented maga. Never was maga leave Israel behind. Never was maga that you can never have a war.
01:34:25
Speaker 14: That's lie.
01:34:26
Speaker 3: Well we're over time. You know how that works.
01:34:29
Speaker 2: In the radio, went on the Root Root for America, Root for America dot com. Wayne, You're the best there is. You were Mega before Mega existed. And thanks for coming on the Bill Cunningham Show.
01:34:38
Speaker 15: Thank you, Wayne, Thank you, Bill.
01:34:40
Speaker 7: God bless you Roots for America dot cop.
01:34:42
Speaker 3: God bless America. Great man. Let's continue with more.
01:34:44
Speaker 2: Bill Cunningham with you and Wayne on the Root every Sunday night. Billy Cunningham in evening you with Wayne Root is a good thing. And I know he's particularly angry about the fact that his alma mater, Columbia University tonight is having protests saying death to America, paid for by the students at Columbia University. Why somebody would send their child there is beyond me. Let's continue with a more lived offbeat. And one of my great heroes growing up a little bit was Larry Bird. In the comments at the Heartland et Ceter Bill Cunningham, the Great American, with you and all of the great Americans every Sunday by Billy Cunningham, the Great American. Of course, many many months ago, it might have been as long as a year ago. I had on Keith O'Brien who wrote the definitive work on Pete Rose and Charlie Hustle, and it was a fabulous dissertation of Pete Rose and his life where he came from his relationship with his father Boldface Park, all the way up from nineteen sixty with Tony Perez in New York and playing minor league baseball way through his death. Keith O'Brien is a new book out which is called Heartland. It's about Larry Bird, and it's coming out from March Madison More and I am not aware of the research that Keith O'Brien did on Larry Bird and what it meant. But once again, Keith O'Brien, welcome to the Bill Cunningham Show. And Keith, first of all, Larry Bird almost didn't happen.
01:36:23
Speaker 3: Can you relate.
01:36:24
Speaker 2: First of all, let's go back before that, before he went to Indiana and did not play for the Hoosiers and Bob Knight. Go back in time to Larry Bird's background, what happened in his early years that made him Larry Bird.
01:36:36
Speaker 15: So Heartland is an origin story. It's not a souper nuts biography. It's really an origin story of Larry Bird's rise in rural Indiana in the nineteen seventies. This narrative unfold between nineteen seventy three and nineteen seventy nine. Everything after that for me is epilogue in this narrative. And you're absolutely right, Bill, you know, in you know, the early nineteenth Larry Bird very nearly slips away. There is one an alternative reality out there in which we don't know Larry Bird's name, in which he never escapes French Lick, in which he, you know, ends up getting a job as a wood finisher at the Kimball Piano Plant and french Lick, just like his father. You know, uh, you know in yearly seventies, Bird wasn't considered a great star even at his little high school in french Lick, Springs Valley High School. For the first three years there, he was never the best player on his own team. You know, in that way, he's he's a lot like Pete Rose. But you know, before his senior year of high school, Bird has something happens to Bird that really changes basketball history. He has an enormous gross burt and he grows about three or four inches in a span of several months. And you know this, this growthsburg, you know, puts him on the radar of at least Midwestern college recruiters. And so you know, in that winter of seven twenty three seventy four, you know, school's like Louisville, University of Cincinnati, Purdue Indiana, Miami of Ohio. They're taking a look at at Larry Bird. They're going to games at Springs Valleys, and as you indicated BYRD, ultimately does sign and agree to go to school at Indiana and play for Bobby Knight. But it doesn't go well there?
01:38:25
Speaker 3: Why didn't he go?
01:38:26
Speaker 2: Because I would think looking back in time, and I've seen Bobby Knight give interviews before his passing. Of course, in fact, he barely knew the guy. He said, he had an odd name, he didn't look right. He's an ugly guy, and he was tall and gangly, and his name was Bird, and he didn't stand out at all. Why did he not stand out in Indiana? Why didn't Robert Montgomery Knight pick up on this talent which he missed completely? And why didn't he and Knight get along at all?
01:38:54
Speaker 8: Well?
01:38:55
Speaker 15: I think it's two reasons. Number one in Knight's defense. You know, in the spring, it's seventy four when he signs Bird. You know, I mentioned there was some Midwestern schools that were recruiting him, but a lot of schools are peeling away and not interested. University of Kentucky Joby Hall was interested in BYRD for a while, then decides he's not good enough, he's not fast enough, he's not quick enough to play in sec basketball. So, you know, schools are falling away and in the voters, the high school polsters in Indiana and the spring of seventy four don't consider Bird a top fifteen player. I mean, think about that for a second. According to the AP voters in Indiana and the spring of seventy four, there are at least fifteen players who are better than Larry Bird. So Knight signs him, but he's not excited about him, and you're right, he doesn't know him. And this is something that I think is specific tonight. You know, when Bird shows up on campus there in Bloomington in August nineteen seventy four, that's a really great team. Who's your basketball team. It's already there at Assembly Hall. This is Quinn Buckner, Scott may Ken, Benson. You know without Bird, without him, they're going to have an undefeated season. In one year later, they're going to have a stretch of basketball where the Hoosiers win like sixty five games and lose one over the span of two years. So they don't really need Bird. And Knight doesn't know him at all. And you know, when Bird arrived on campus, you know, he's a sensitive young man. He's a troubled young man coming from an impoverished home. You know, he really needs more than what Night is giving. And based on my reporting, you know he Bird is just not treated well by members of that team. You know, they take his ball at the pickup games, they don't pass the ball to him, they don't sometimes play him in the games. And you know, I interviewed one student manager who told me he had a vivid memory of the last game the Bird ever played, the last pickup game that he played in September seventy four, and at the end of the game, Bird was complaining because they weren't passing to him, or they hadn't played him at all. And one of the players, the who's your players in the locker room, looked at Bird and said, tell me again where you're from. And the point was clear. You know, Bird was a nobody. He was from nowhere. And you know, based on my reporting, that was the last game that Bird played at French at Bloomington, and he hitchhikes home to French Lick within hours.
01:41:23
Speaker 2: We'll get to that up part in a moment. I know Bird's father killed himself, and you talk about Bird being troubled. Explained the troubling aspects of Larry Bird's life before he got to Indiana.
01:41:37
Speaker 15: I mean, you know, his parents are divorced. French Lake at the time is an impoverished town. Bird's home is impoverished as well. Larry's father is, you know, is an alcoholic and has been for years. You know, in the winter in which he leaves Bloomington and hitchhikes home to French Lick, Larry's dad will kill him self. And you know, these days, Bill, you know, we have a word for that, especially when it comes to kids. It's a trauma.
01:42:09
Speaker 4: You know, a.
01:42:09
Speaker 15: Suicide is a trauma and a family and unfortunately, all too many families out there know that. But in nineteen seventy four, seventy five, it wasn't treated like that. It certainly wasn't treated like that.
01:42:21
Speaker 4: You know.
01:42:21
Speaker 15: For in French Lick, with Larry Bird's family, you know, he has to almost soldier on alone, you know, burying this enormous grief, this enormous trauma, and in a lot of ways, you know, that will define him in the years to come, for reasons that are easy to understand now, but I think at the time we're much harder to understand.
01:42:45
Speaker 2: I can imagine that locker room nineteen seventy sixty, who's your team on? Undefeated, untied, unscored on last undefeated champion, maybe never to be repeated. Look around a locker room, Miss Quinn Buckner and Scott May. They're looking down there and see this tall, skinny, ugly guy named Larry Bird. Who the hell do you think you are? If somebody had told that group at that point Larry Bird might have been the greatest basketball player of all time? What would Bob What would Robert Montgomery might have.
01:43:10
Speaker 3: Said about that?
01:43:11
Speaker 2: If somebody tapped him on his shoulder and say, see that guy sitting over there, that's the player of the nineteen eighties, That's the three time Boston Celtics champion, that's the three time MVP. That is the most respected and loved basketball player maybe at the last half of the twentieth century. What would Knight have said about that?
01:43:30
Speaker 3: Who that guy?
01:43:32
Speaker 15: Yeah, yeah, he wouldn't He wouldn't have believed it. I mean, listen, you know, Bobby Knight is himself a basketball icon, an Indiana icon, and a flawed American icon. But one thing that Bobby Knight was He's confident in his own abilities, for better or for worse. Sometimes I confidence helped him, sometimes it hurt him, and it did hurt him when it came to Larry Bird, but again in Defensive Knights from moments. You know, nobody in the fall of seventy four thought Bird was going to be any of those things that you just listed. And in fact, when he leaves Bloomington and hitchhikes home to french Lick, just to give you a sense of how others felt about Bird, only one story, only one story, is written about Bird leaving Indiana. It's written by the Bloomington Herald telephone, the local paper. No one cares, No one cares that this guy is left. And in that winter of seventy four seventy five, when he's returned home to french Lick, when he gets that job collecting trash for the town, when his father, you know, kills himself in that tragic way. You know, Bird isn't you know, on anyone's radar. He has literally slipped to the edge of the basketball map. He is playing pickup basketball glorified, you know, over thirty men pick up basketball with guys who have day jobs and wives and children. In the scant stories that are written about Bird in this winter, you know, covering these aims and will be called the Industrial League. The newspapers can't and spelled bird name right, they spell it b A I R D very Baird. They don't know who he is, and so you know, he really is flipping away and we're not for a man named Bill Hodges down on his luck. Assistant coach at Indiana states, it's very possible that we don't know the name Larry Bird. It's very possible that bird doesn't ever leave French Lick again.
01:45:29
Speaker 2: So Keith o' brownie, let me get this right. He's his scholarship to the Hoosiers. He fails miserably, he's ignored by Bob Knight. He hitchhikes from Bloomington to Indiana State to French Lick, which has got to be a haul. It's a couple hundred miles and there's no direct interstate. So there in September of seventy four is Larry Bird with his thumb out going from Bloomington to French Lick.
01:45:58
Speaker 3: Do I have that right? And now he's a garbage man, literally a garbage man.
01:46:02
Speaker 9: You have that right?
01:46:04
Speaker 4: Yeah?
01:46:04
Speaker 15: In that winter of seventy four seventy five, I call it so the Winter of Larry Bird's discontent. You know, he briefly plays for a vocational school, plays basketball at a vocational school. I don't mean community college, I don't mean a JUCO program. He plays for a place called Northwood Institute, which is essentially a small two hundred student vocational school in West Baden, Indiana. He quits that team too, Bill, and then he gets that job hauling trash. You know, his father kills himself shortly after that. Bird is now playing in that men's league that I mentioned. And in April seventy five, you know, at that moment, you know, at that moment when he's disappearing, Bill Hodges, his coached Indiana State, decides to drift down to French Lick and see if he can find Larry Bird. Bill Hodges has seen Bird play twice in high school, only twice. But he's wondering what he's doing now. And you know, Bill, you know, drives down from Terahoe to French Like that's about a two and a half hour drive in nineteen seventy five, and he can't find him. He has to drive around town looking for Bird, and when he does, you know, Bird again basically states directly to Hodges' face, he has no interest in returning to college, and actually Bird tells Hodges that day that there's a couple other guys in town that maybe he should look at instead.
01:47:25
Speaker 9: But you know, Bill.
01:47:26
Speaker 15: Hodges is a lot like Larry you know, he's from rural Indiana. He's he knows what it's like to be poor. He knows what it's like to be overlooked, he knows what it's like to bail Hay and milk cows and Hodges and Bird connect and it's really Bill Hodges. It's again down on his luck, journeyman assistant coach who connects with Bird and coaxes him, you know, away from the brink, away from the void and back to college. And I mean it Bill. Were it not for Bill Hodges, I think it's very likely. We don't know where.
01:48:01
Speaker 2: Four years later, Indiana State, I think the Sycamores is that correct. Indiana State is playing in the National Championship game against Magic Johnson, Irvin Magic Johnson, Michigan State. And those four years, Larry Bird went from a disgraced, ugly, six foot nine inch garbage man playing recreational basketball to being the player of the year leading Indiana State undefeated. They lost the national Championship game to Magic Johnson's Michigan State team, and that from that point on, shall we say he became Larry Bird. And you're saying, without that coach, how many Americans right now are down to their dumps, not feeling good about themselves?
01:48:42
Speaker 3: Woe is me.
01:48:43
Speaker 2: I'm not sure you get lower than what Larry Bird was in nineteen seventy five, in April in nineteen seventy five, but four years later he's a National Player of the Year. And then he goes to the Boston Celtics and at that point rent ourback maneuver to get Larry Bird. He saw something in Bird that others did because Bird wasn't quick, he didn't run fast, he wasn't quick, he wasn't fast, and he couldn't jump. So in the NBA, if you're not very quick, and you're not very fast and you can't jump, what are the odds of you making it?
01:49:15
Speaker 15: I mean really low? And and you make a great point. You make a great point, though, I mean, I think Larry Bird is one of the great American understories, full underdog stories, full stop. I don't mean great underdog sports stories, but great underdog stories. You know you're you're absolutely right, you know he is at a point in time where he is he is drifting away. He is lost, he is nearly gone, you know, struggling with all the things we've discussed, and and and he is, you know, really saved. But once he once he iss bucks back from the brink, he makes the most of that opportunity. And in this way, you know, I do think Larry Bird and Pete Rose, you know, are similar. You know, they worked for what they got. They they they were dedicated to their sport, for the nature of the sport. You know, Pete Rose loves hitting for the sake of hitting. You know, Pete would live in the batting cage before and after games, even after he was the star, because he loved it. He wanted he wanted to get better at it. Bird did the same. He lived on the basketball court before and after games all the time. I mean, when he goes to front, when he goes to Terre Haute in the summer of seventy five, you know, based on my reporting, he lived in the boys club there, you know, where he gets the key and is able to shoot baskets, you know, at his heart's content, deep into the night.
01:50:37
Speaker 14: You know.
01:50:37
Speaker 15: You know, these guys, you know, work for what they get, they pull themselves up. And you know, Red r Bachs sees something in Bird. You know, it's like the opposite of Bobby Knight. You know, Red r Bachs sees it, and he says out loud, you know, one he drafts him one year before he's able to play at the time NBA. NBA teams held the rights to play for one year if you drafted them, and so our back drafts him in seventy eight, stashes in the leg. And it's all about very smartly said. And I think there's a lesson in life, a lesson in business for this. And I'm parapraising here.
01:51:13
Speaker 14: Arbuck says.
01:51:14
Speaker 15: A year goes by faster than you think, and one year from now a lot of people are going to be kicking themselves that they didn't take a chance on Larry Bird.
01:51:23
Speaker 3: And our box is right.
01:51:25
Speaker 2: Ah, Billy Cunningham, the great American, thank you for listening tonight. Especially love the comments of one Wayne Allen Root to set the record straight about the goals and the admiration all of us have for the president to have any common sense. Lot of the Democrats wish America ill instead of running their own parts of the country. Well, some of the worst places that live in America are in California, New York City, Chicago, take any major city, and I've shared my thoughts with you repeatedly, and that is this that America will never realize its greatest post potential if our major cities are in collapse economically, financially, job wise, middle class values not being implemented in terrible public schools. And so I would hope that the Democrats who complain about the activities of others, specifically Donald Trump, would first of all, get their own house in order. Imagine if New York, Chicago, and LA the three largest American cities, were functional. Imagine if they could protect their citizens from crime. Imagine if they had functional public schools and large numbers of middle class jobs and low taxes. Does that describe Chicago, New York, Los Angeles and add in the next ten The answer is no. So I want the Democrats who complain so often about the behavior of others to get their own house in order before they complain about what the other side is or is not doing. And if you root against America, ultimately going to lose. And I hope the American people understand that there is an historical transformational President. Trump's going to be up there with Washington and Jefferson and Lincoln and Teddy Roosevelt and Dwight D. Eisenhower and Ronald Reagan as great United States presidents if these ventures succeed. If they don't, history will condemn him. If, on the other hand, he succeeds, guess what, the historians will still condemn him. But you and I know that they're wrong. Thanks for listening, and next Sunday Night will continue the coverage of the war in Iran. May God bless the American soldier, sailor and the airmen who keep America safe. Bill Cunningham, the great American, Proud to be with you. Bill Cunningham, the Great American, with you every Sunday Night,
Speaker 1: Willie Welk you by Choice Hotels aconor Roagen Roadway in Hotels are serving up double points for every qualifying stay book at Choice Hotels dot com. Now here's the man who's been recognized as radio's best, the recipient of not one, but two prestigious Marconi Awards for his broadcast exodence, the one and only Bill Cunningham.
00:00:45
