1. How will you deliver the podcast database? 🔗
You'll be able to visit a dashboard page like this:
You can manually click on the download link to get the update-to-date sqlite database file.
Or you can follow the instructions on the page to set up a cron job to automatically download the latest database.
You can also add your coworkers to access the dashboard.
So people from your team can log in with separate credentials.
2. What's included in the subscription plan? 🔗
You'll get a sqlite database file periodically, e.g., daily, weekly, quarterly...
Each sqlite database file is a snapshot of all RSS-based podcasts at the moment the file is created.
There are three tables in the sqlite database file:
- genres: all categories.
- podcasts: all 3,627,359 (as of today) podcasts with 35+ data fields.
- podcast_genres: the podcast-category relationship. A podcast may belong to multiple categories.
You can use a sqlite client to open the database file.
For example, we recommend using DB Browser on macOS, Windows, and Linux.

Alternatively, your developers can easily write code to transform the sqlite database into other data formats - it's a SQL database after all.
3. Does the database have all episodes and transcripts? 🔗
Upon request, we can include an episode dump as an add-on to the delivered product, covering up to 182,497,397 episodes with
basic data attributes.
Please note, however, that transcripts are not included.
This is because we only have transcript coverage for about 1% of the 182,497,397 episodes.
If you need transcripts, it’s relatively easy to generate them using speech-to-text APIs.
The data dump includes an "audio_url" for each episode, allowing you to access the audio files directly.
4. How do you make sure your podcast database is up-to-date? 🔗
To find new podcasts, we use four approaches.
- First, we run crawlers 24/7 to find publicly accessible podcasts on the Internet, which is similar to how Google or other search engines find new websites.
- Second, podcasters submit new shows to Listen Notes on their own -- we get hundreds of new submissions from podcasters every day.
- Third, if we (Listen Notes employees) see any missing podcasts, we manually add them to our database. In addition, we run a very popular podcast search engine website listennotes.com. There are over 2,000,000 people using our website every month. Any of them can submit missing shows to Listen Notes, which makes our podcast database comprehensive and up-to-date. Please note that we manually review every podcast submission and reject fake podcasts (e.g., machine-generated audio).
- Fourth, we partner with major podcast hosting services, who integrate with our podcast API to allow podcasters to submit new shows directly to Listen Notes.
5. Is it possible to purchase a one-time data dump of your podcast database without a subscription? 🔗
Yes. We offer a one-time data dump of our podcast database.

If you decide within a year after buying the one-time data dump,
you can switch to a subscription by paying the price difference.
6. How quickly can I access the podcast database? 🔗
Upon completion of the sales agreement and receipt of your payment, access to download the data is provided within 12 hours (oftentimes within minutes).

Up-to-date metadata: Podcasts frequently evolve.
A single podcast may have an updated RSS feed, revised metadata, or even be deleted by the producer or due to DMCA takedowns.
