Speaker 1: Hello, this is The Upside with Jordan, a dose of good news because it's a big world out there. We take you to London, the River Thames, that for centuries has been a polluted mess. Read most Charles Dickens novels and you'll know what I'm talking about. But there has been now a dramatic reduction in the pollution levels in the River Thames. all thanks to London's newest super sewer, considered a milestone for the river that was once declared totally biologically dead. The new 16-mile sewer has resulted in an 85% decline in the amount of raw sewage entering the river. The sewer has also kept a lot of litter, 84 tons of it, they say, from reaching the waterway. One of the authors of the latest report has said, the findings are an important milestone for the river and a significant step towards a cleaner, healthier, and more resilient Thames. Methinks our good friends from across the pond have paid attention to how we here in Boston have cleaned up our own river, the Charles. And that's The Upside with Jordan WBZ, Boston's news radio.
