Reflections on the Set Animal by Stephen Flowers

In this episode, we descend from the comfortable certainties of zoological classification into the unsettling wilderness of the symbolic, where the certainties of the naturalist give way to the mysteries of the extra-dimensional. We explore the Set animal—the most enigmatic and hotly debated icon in the entire Egyptian pantheon—and ask: What happens when a god refuses to be identified, when his very form defies categorization, when the image that stands for him is a creature that has never walked the earth?

In a world that still demands we fit into neat categories, still insists that everything must be named and classified, do we have the courage to embrace the alien within ourselves, or will we retreat into the comfortable falsehood that we are merely creatures of the natural order?
