A Pop-Tart joke turns into a real question: what’s the difference between hypocrisy and an honest warning? We start with a viral Marco Rubio moment, then get practical about the Make America Healthy Again mindset and why “knowing better” doesn’t mean you never touch junk food again. The point isn’t perfection, it’s clarity and honesty about what’s actually harming Americans and what “moderation” really means.
From there, we dig into food industry deception and why labels matter, including new findings around seed oils and “avocado oil” snacks that may be cut with cheaper oils. If companies market health while hiding ingredients, that isn’t a personal failure, it’s a consumer protection problem and Texas law should have teeth. We also pivot to one of the most intense stories out of the state: Ken Paxton intervening in the Baby Gabriel case, where a surrogate alleges the intended parents demanded an abortion after a heart defect diagnosis and later resisted consent for lifesaving care.
We keep moving through Texas accountability stories, including the Lake Jackson shooting indictment update, then bring on Sidney Henry from Texas Scorecard to talk closed primaries, the Secretary of State situation, educator misconduct, and Governor Abbott’s proposed 10-year mandatory minimum for improper educator-student relationships. We also spotlight a bright spot: Captain Dave McCabe joins us to share how the Sailing Angels Foundation provides free sailing experiences on Clear Lake and Galveston Bay for special needs individuals, veterans, first responders, and more, including details on their Salute To Heroes event.

00:00:08.640 --> 00:00:09.759
The voice of reason.
00:00:13.039 --> 00:00:14.320
Michael Wilson.
00:00:30.640 --> 00:00:32.240
Welcome back, ladies and gentlemen.
00:00:32.320 --> 00:00:38.560
I'm your host, Michael Wilson, and you're listening to the Lone Star Conservative right here on Patriot Talk 920.
00:00:38.880 --> 00:00:40.159
And let's kick it off.
00:00:40.240 --> 00:00:47.039
Before we get into the first story, I saw a post this morning from a podcast that Marco Rubio was on.
00:00:47.200 --> 00:00:50.719
And me and Marco Rubio have our disagreements, same as everybody else.
00:00:50.960 --> 00:00:57.920
But this was an incredibly funny interaction, and it very much reminded me of my attitude.
00:00:58.560 --> 00:01:04.560
That'll make more sense once I actually go through what was said on this particular podcast by Marco Rubio.
00:01:05.280 --> 00:01:09.439
But regardless of that, so here's here's basically what just happened.
00:01:09.680 --> 00:01:19.200
So he was asked on this podcast if because obviously they're talking about all things in the government and everything that Marco Rubio works on, uh his jobs, his connections.
00:01:19.439 --> 00:01:26.719
And obviously, one of those connections, I mean, across the board, is going to be relationships with other people inside the administration.
00:01:26.959 --> 00:01:28.879
One of those people, I'm sure he was asked about others.
00:01:28.959 --> 00:01:33.120
I haven't watched the whole podcast, but now I might, uh, is of course RFK Jr.
00:01:34.079 --> 00:01:42.400
And so this podcast host asked the question: Have you adopted RFK's diet of red meat and fermented vegetables?
00:01:42.719 --> 00:01:45.200
Rubio said, No, it's a crazy diet.
00:01:45.359 --> 00:01:48.079
This is a diet that consists of eating sauerkraut and meat.
00:01:48.239 --> 00:01:50.560
Now you understand, like, this is not a sustainable thing.
00:01:50.719 --> 00:01:53.200
He has to travel with coolers of sauerkraut.
00:01:53.359 --> 00:01:55.680
I'm not going to travel the world with a cooler full of sauerkraut.
00:01:55.840 --> 00:01:56.480
It's ridiculous.
00:01:56.640 --> 00:01:57.680
I can't do it.
00:01:58.319 --> 00:02:01.680
And the podcast host asks, are you Maha?
00:02:01.840 --> 00:02:03.760
He said, I'm I'm in favor of it.
00:02:03.920 --> 00:02:06.159
Like I think that people should be healthy.
00:02:06.319 --> 00:02:26.080
Uh, but then, you know, he's he's asked, This is this is where it gets, I mean, especially funny, because obviously it's easy to say that, you know, you're you're healthy when when people are watching the podcast.
00:02:26.240 --> 00:02:32.960
And so his wife's there with him, and and and he's asked if if he's in you know support of it, and he says, I'm in favor of it.
00:02:33.039 --> 00:02:34.719
Like I think people should eat healthy.
00:02:35.120 --> 00:02:38.000
And his wife says, no, he's not.
00:02:38.080 --> 00:02:39.919
And so the podcast has asked his wife, what does he?
00:02:40.240 --> 00:02:41.360
She goes, Pop-tarts.
00:02:41.680 --> 00:02:48.960
And then he replies, the Pop Tart is one of the greatest American innovations in the history of the world.
00:02:49.439 --> 00:02:54.479
And see, I identify a little bit with Marco Rubio here.
00:02:54.560 --> 00:03:06.800
Uh uh, I'm sorry, I do, because I have been on the Make America Healthy Again train since significantly longer than there's been a Make America Healthy Again train.
00:03:06.879 --> 00:03:07.120
All right.
00:03:07.199 --> 00:03:15.520
I mean, if there were the OGs of the Make America Healthy Again movement, I would make I would probably make the cut.
00:03:16.000 --> 00:03:24.879
I've been I've been telling people uh what health is uh and and that the government's been lying to them about cholesterol, I mean, for for years.
00:03:25.120 --> 00:03:35.759
I I've been telling them that that butter is not killing you, animal fat is not killing you, eggs are not killing you, salt is not killing you most of the time.
00:03:36.080 --> 00:03:39.599
And in again, obviously you can overeat anything and hurt yourself.
00:03:39.759 --> 00:03:42.800
I mean, that's just like gluttony is bad and you can suffer consequences.
00:03:42.960 --> 00:03:46.800
I mean, if you're overdoing anything, then yes, it'll be a problem.
00:03:47.280 --> 00:03:53.919
But those foods generally are not causing really any of the problems in our country when it comes to health problems.
00:03:54.159 --> 00:03:57.599
And, you know, they they always want to blame it on healthy things.
00:03:57.759 --> 00:04:04.159
And that's, you know, and I pointed out a long time ago that the food pyramid uh was not just a government thing.
00:04:04.240 --> 00:04:05.120
It was sponsored.
00:04:05.280 --> 00:04:12.400
It was sponsored by corporations that own these massive agricultural product lines.
00:04:12.639 --> 00:04:14.719
That that's what the food pyramid was.
00:04:15.199 --> 00:04:19.199
Now, I've been saying all of that for years.
00:04:19.360 --> 00:04:22.560
And it's it I the reason I bring that up is not to say I told you so.
00:04:22.720 --> 00:04:24.399
See, I knew I was ahead of the curve.
00:04:24.480 --> 00:04:26.399
I I literally could not care less.
00:04:26.639 --> 00:04:33.759
The reason I bring it up is to say, despite knowing all of that, I too love Pop Tarts.
00:04:34.000 --> 00:04:35.680
I I I can't help it.
00:04:35.759 --> 00:04:41.439
I I don't know, you know, for a lot of people, I fall in a really weird camp.
00:04:42.720 --> 00:04:47.120
Because everybody I see, and and obviously this is anecdotal, right?
00:04:47.199 --> 00:04:48.720
I don't talk to everyone in the world.
00:04:48.800 --> 00:04:51.199
I can't know how everyone else kind of thinks about things.
00:04:51.439 --> 00:05:09.279
But for for most of the people I kind of talk to that are on these health kicks, you know, the people that know all of these things, that know how bad the food is, how poisoned everything is, those people are, I I mean, almost always those people are eating great.
00:05:09.519 --> 00:05:16.720
They're like, you gotta eat like this, you gotta, you gotta make sure you hit this, you gotta make sure you get the the the beef liver.
00:05:16.800 --> 00:05:19.199
And I'm like, I know beef liver is incredible for you.
00:05:19.360 --> 00:05:24.959
I also can't afford the beef liver pills, which means I'd have to actually buy beef liver to eat.
00:05:25.120 --> 00:05:27.360
And I I know that there are some people that are into that.
00:05:27.519 --> 00:05:28.720
I'm not on that list.
00:05:28.800 --> 00:05:31.199
I I could not stand beef liver less.
00:05:31.279 --> 00:05:36.800
I I it's it's absolutely disgusting, not enjoyable as a food whatsoever.
00:05:37.199 --> 00:05:38.959
I even tried it in jerky.
00:05:39.120 --> 00:05:40.480
I had beef liver jerky.
00:05:40.720 --> 00:05:42.639
Uh still, uh, and I love jerky.
00:05:42.959 --> 00:05:43.680
Disgusting.
00:05:43.839 --> 00:05:45.040
I couldn't do it.
00:05:45.519 --> 00:05:58.800
And I don't think and and I guess this is a good opportunity to present a a little bit of a an explanation of logical fallacies and and of the understanding of words.
00:05:59.120 --> 00:06:07.120
So I think hypocrisy gets thrown around a lot by both sides of the political spectrum and people that aren't even in politics at all.
00:06:07.519 --> 00:06:14.319
Um hypocrite is a very frequently used insult to reference a wide array of people.
00:06:14.720 --> 00:06:17.279
And you guys know I cannot stand hypocrisy.
00:06:17.360 --> 00:06:20.959
If you've listened to the show for any time, you know that's one of my biggest pet peeves.
00:06:21.839 --> 00:06:23.199
There's a lot of things I don't like.
00:06:23.360 --> 00:06:29.839
I don't like libs, I don't like liberalism, I don't like people that pretend to be conservatives but aren't.
00:06:29.920 --> 00:06:32.399
I don't like rhinos and moderates.
00:06:32.560 --> 00:06:37.120
Um I don't like, you know, weak-willed people trying to lead the country.
00:06:37.360 --> 00:06:38.000
Doesn't work.
00:06:38.240 --> 00:06:39.519
There's lots of things I don't like.
00:06:39.600 --> 00:06:44.879
But one thing that enrages me, especially so, is hypocrisy.
00:06:45.519 --> 00:07:00.720
When people preach one thing and then live something completely different, uh and and and and by the way, this is why I wanted to kind of bring hypocrisy up, because I think that there's also a misunderstanding of its use.
00:07:01.199 --> 00:07:13.120
Because when you're telling everybody else, hey, guns are bad, there's no right to guns, you should give them up, and they carry or have armed security, that's hypocrisy.
00:07:13.360 --> 00:07:15.680
When you say, hey, we don't need a border.
00:07:15.920 --> 00:07:20.079
Borders are for oppressive tyranny-based people.
00:07:20.399 --> 00:07:27.360
You don't need borders, but they live in a gated neighborhood with armed security, that's hypocrisy.
00:07:28.639 --> 00:07:30.079
It isn't hypocrisy.
00:07:30.240 --> 00:07:34.160
Let's say that you have someone who smoked cigarettes basically his whole life.
00:07:34.319 --> 00:07:39.920
You I mean, you can't see his lungs, but if you could, you know, you could picture his lungs just by hearing him talk.
00:07:40.079 --> 00:07:44.959
Say he's like 80 years old and he's been a chain smoker, you know, he's he's got a cigarette right now.
00:07:45.120 --> 00:07:48.160
Lit up and he said, Hey, kid, don't ever start cigarettes.
00:07:48.319 --> 00:07:49.360
These are awful for you.
00:07:49.600 --> 00:07:50.959
This is an interesting question.
00:07:51.279 --> 00:07:53.279
Is that guy a hypocrite?
00:07:53.759 --> 00:07:55.759
Now the quick answer is yes.
00:07:56.000 --> 00:07:58.240
I would argue the answer is obviously no.
00:07:59.439 --> 00:08:08.399
Because when it comes to the other people that we gave examples of, whether that's gun control or it's border security, you can see the hypocrisy.
00:08:08.560 --> 00:08:10.319
They're that they don't even acknowledge.
00:08:10.560 --> 00:08:10.720
Right?
00:08:10.879 --> 00:08:14.079
You can see rules for for thee, but not for me.
00:08:14.480 --> 00:08:14.800
Right.
00:08:14.959 --> 00:08:18.240
I I don't I want to have my special privileges.
00:08:18.879 --> 00:08:36.960
When it comes to something like cigarettes, for instance, if you're warning other people of the dangerous effects, you're not saying that you're fighting for policy that ultimately, you know, would do away with or or or would require people to do cigarettes or do away with cigarettes, whatever.
00:08:37.120 --> 00:08:42.159
You're not pushing other people to be required to not have cigarettes while you get to keep them.
00:08:42.320 --> 00:08:47.759
You're giving a warning from experience that I think is totally justified.
00:08:47.919 --> 00:08:52.080
And you're not saying I'm doing this and I think I should be allowed to, but you shouldn't, right?
00:08:52.240 --> 00:08:53.519
It's not about the rules.
00:08:53.759 --> 00:08:55.759
It's a warning about health.
00:08:56.000 --> 00:08:57.360
That's not hypocrisy.
00:08:57.440 --> 00:09:01.600
That's an acknowledgement of, hey, hey, hey, kid, here's all the risks, here's what'll happen.
00:09:01.759 --> 00:09:07.759
I know those risks, I continue taking them, but I want to give you the risks and tell you you should, it's not a wise idea for most people.
00:09:08.000 --> 00:09:09.519
Not hypocrisy.
00:09:09.840 --> 00:09:14.399
Because it's not that you're damning someone else for the things you're doing.
00:09:14.639 --> 00:09:16.559
It's a word of warning.
00:09:16.879 --> 00:09:20.159
I think that's the same thing in my position when it comes to food.
00:09:20.639 --> 00:09:24.559
I obviously know generally what's healthy and what's not healthy.
00:09:24.639 --> 00:09:26.559
I mean, I'm I read a new study just the other day.
00:09:26.720 --> 00:09:29.759
I was talking with some family members about it, that the out of UC Davis.
00:09:30.320 --> 00:09:33.440
I was going through all the numbers of the study, because it was absolutely insane.
00:09:33.600 --> 00:09:39.279
Uh, you guys, I'm sure seed oils is one of the things that is kind of broken into the mainstream now.
00:09:39.440 --> 00:09:42.799
The left still kind of wants to salvage seed oils and pretend like they're fine.
00:09:42.960 --> 00:09:44.159
They're not, by the way.
00:09:44.320 --> 00:09:47.279
It turns out that lubricated engine oil, not good.
00:09:47.679 --> 00:09:49.120
Not good for you at all.
00:09:49.759 --> 00:09:54.000
If if you could make a car, I mean, I don't even need to.
00:09:54.159 --> 00:09:55.360
You guys know seed oils are bad.
00:09:55.440 --> 00:09:57.120
Let's just, I don't need to get into the this.
00:09:57.279 --> 00:09:58.559
No, we already understand that.
00:09:58.720 --> 00:10:00.720
I'm trying to get into something specific here.
00:10:01.360 --> 00:10:12.639
This this study found that uh, you know, if you're if you've been off seed oils, you know that avocado oil is often the frequently replaced, you know, version of seed oils.
00:10:12.720 --> 00:10:15.759
Uh people use olive oil as well, but I'm not talking about the oils.
00:10:15.840 --> 00:10:18.000
I'm talking about when you go buy snack items.
00:10:18.159 --> 00:10:24.639
Because for years, if you wanted to buy chips, Pop-Tarts, cereal, how many of them had sunflower oil?
00:10:24.720 --> 00:10:27.200
How many of them had vegetable oil?
00:10:27.360 --> 00:10:28.639
Any of these seed oils?
00:10:28.799 --> 00:10:30.559
Uh uh all of them.
00:10:30.720 --> 00:10:36.639
Uh maybe there was a really expensive niche brand that no one had heard of that sold at random stuff.
00:10:36.799 --> 00:10:39.440
Maybe those existed for rich people.
00:10:39.600 --> 00:10:40.639
I had never heard of them.
00:10:40.799 --> 00:10:44.559
They weren't popular, and now they're kind of becoming increasingly popular.
00:10:44.639 --> 00:10:50.639
And so you've got all these brands uh that are at uh advertising hey, we have avocado oil chips.
00:10:50.720 --> 00:10:52.720
There's, you know, instead of seed oils.
00:10:54.080 --> 00:11:18.080
And this study found that something like 93% of chips that advertise avocado oil, they have avocado oil in them, but what they don't tell you is that avocado oil is cut with other oils that are not avocado oil, seed oils.
00:11:18.720 --> 00:11:30.320
And so essentially you're paying all this extra money to get a so-called healthy product, and what you're getting instead, unfortunately, is just a slightly healthier product.
00:11:30.480 --> 00:11:38.639
I mean, obviously, since it has avocado oil in it, that means it's not as much seed oil as maybe a full brand uh of seed oils.
00:11:38.879 --> 00:11:42.879
But regardless of that, obviously we recognize that's not good.
00:11:43.039 --> 00:11:48.879
And so all these studies are continuously coming out that they're new, we learn new information about the brands we're buying from.
00:11:49.039 --> 00:11:56.879
And, you know, whether they're kind of being a little deceitful by advertising avocado oil, but it's not real avocado oil that's still poisoning you if you're trying to get away from seed oils.
00:11:57.919 --> 00:12:00.960
But there's a lot of those sort of small things people still don't know about.
00:12:01.120 --> 00:12:03.039
Seed oils are kind of normalized now.
00:12:03.200 --> 00:12:04.879
But there's a lot of them, right?
00:12:05.039 --> 00:12:10.960
I mean, uh you know, you you start talking about the difference between A1 and A2 cow's milk, you talk about the different kinds of cows.
00:12:11.039 --> 00:12:17.759
You talk about lactose intolerance and where that sort of started and where that comes from in America and why people have that and what it actually is.
00:12:17.840 --> 00:12:20.799
Uh you can start talking about dairy allergies in general.
00:12:21.039 --> 00:12:23.039
You get into the whole gluten intolerance thing.
00:12:23.279 --> 00:12:28.960
And by the way, everyone in America, everyone in America to a degree is gluten intolerant.
00:12:29.120 --> 00:12:34.080
Primarily, by the way, to bioengineered gluten, right?
00:12:34.320 --> 00:12:35.840
Really high amounts of it.
00:12:36.000 --> 00:12:41.360
Not if you this is why you'll find that a lot of people, even that have severe gluten allergies, will go over to Europe.
00:12:41.440 --> 00:12:44.480
They'll eat plenty of bread, and they'll come back home and they'll feel great.
00:12:44.559 --> 00:12:47.519
And then they'll eat like a single bite of bread here and be back to being sick again.
00:12:47.759 --> 00:12:54.559
That's because we have bioengineered wheat that's really sprayed with, I mean, legitimately the Lord knows what.
00:12:54.639 --> 00:12:55.919
I only the Lord knows what.
00:12:56.000 --> 00:12:56.879
I don't even think they know what.
00:12:57.120 --> 00:13:01.360
It's just an amalgamation of death that they spray on all their plants.
00:13:01.600 --> 00:13:06.960
And and you get, of course, uh an unhealthy population because bread is yummy.
00:13:07.039 --> 00:13:10.320
And the bread I have access to is probably death.
00:13:10.559 --> 00:13:13.120
I mean, that's just that just is what it is.
00:13:13.519 --> 00:13:16.159
And so you combine all these things, right?
00:13:16.320 --> 00:13:17.279
And what do you find?
00:13:17.440 --> 00:13:19.519
Oh, look, there's a lot of things that go into this.
00:13:19.679 --> 00:13:21.120
The dairy they use is bad.
00:13:21.360 --> 00:13:23.279
The fruit and vegetables they use are bad.
00:13:23.360 --> 00:13:24.240
The wheat they use is bad.
00:13:24.399 --> 00:13:25.600
Before you know it, you're like, well, what?
00:13:25.759 --> 00:13:27.279
Can I uh pizza.
00:13:27.519 --> 00:13:32.240
Every ingredient in pizza, they've just completely screwed us over on.
00:13:32.399 --> 00:13:35.120
Every the bread, okay, yeah, obviously the bread is bad.
00:13:35.200 --> 00:13:36.080
We just talked about it.
00:13:36.240 --> 00:13:41.919
The tomatoes, again, what do you think they're spraying those things with to keep the bugs off for massive profit margins?
00:13:42.159 --> 00:13:49.200
The the cheese, we just talked about where they're getting the milk from and then what they're doing to it, they're pasteurizing it on top of it already being bad milk.
00:13:49.440 --> 00:13:53.039
So then you're just kind of getting from from just sick cows.
00:13:53.200 --> 00:13:55.840
So you're just getting, I mean, bare minimum.
00:13:55.919 --> 00:13:59.120
Even if it weren't unhealthy, you'd be getting zero nutrients from it.
00:13:59.519 --> 00:14:01.840
All these things are going on, right?
00:14:02.960 --> 00:14:07.919
But in the midst of all of that, I love Little Caesar's pizza.
00:14:08.080 --> 00:14:10.080
And it that's like the lowest quality one.
00:14:10.159 --> 00:14:16.320
And that's why it's always so funny when I tell people if I had to go pick a pizza, I probably wouldn't pick Domino's or Pizza out of Papa John's.
00:14:16.399 --> 00:14:17.279
I like Little Caesars.
00:14:17.519 --> 00:14:18.559
I love their breadsticks.
00:14:18.720 --> 00:14:20.000
I was reading the other day.
00:14:20.240 --> 00:14:25.279
I I love their garlic butter sauce because there's no butter in it.
00:14:25.440 --> 00:14:26.879
I didn't know that when I was a kid.
00:14:26.960 --> 00:14:27.679
You don't learn these things.
00:14:27.759 --> 00:14:30.639
You just assume that everyone's good and that they do normal things.
00:14:30.799 --> 00:14:31.600
No, no, no.
00:14:31.840 --> 00:14:42.080
These companies are like again, MAGA corporations of just amalgamations of disgusting, perverted, fake things.
00:14:42.240 --> 00:14:46.000
Um, yeah, their their garlic butter sauce has no semblance.
00:14:46.159 --> 00:14:48.799
The butter is just straight seed oil.
00:14:48.879 --> 00:14:49.919
That's all the butter is.
00:14:50.000 --> 00:14:56.639
There's there's not a single ingredient in the garlic-flavored butter, the garlic-flavored sauce, I think they call it now.
00:14:56.799 --> 00:15:01.120
There's not a single thing in it that is even remotely not made in a lab.
00:15:01.360 --> 00:15:03.279
And I don't always have a problem with lab-made things.
00:15:03.360 --> 00:15:04.799
There's some lab-made things that are pretty cool.
00:15:04.960 --> 00:15:07.600
I mean, we've created some pretty cool ingredients that I think are fine.
00:15:07.759 --> 00:15:14.080
Being made in a lab doesn't inherently make it bad, but you read the list and you study the ingredients that are in this garlic butter sauce, what do you find out?
00:15:14.159 --> 00:15:15.279
Oh, yeah, all of those are bad.
00:15:15.360 --> 00:15:17.679
Those are actually the bad lab-made things.
00:15:18.720 --> 00:15:24.720
But do you think that as long as it's available, I'm not gonna go eat it every once in a while?
00:15:24.879 --> 00:15:25.440
Of course I am.
00:15:25.600 --> 00:15:27.120
Everything in moderation, right?
00:15:27.279 --> 00:15:30.240
You think I'm never gonna eat a Pop-Tart again because I know all this stuff?
00:15:30.399 --> 00:15:31.519
Of course I am.
00:15:31.840 --> 00:15:38.240
But that does not make me a hypocrite for warning everybody else as eat that as infrequently as possible.
00:15:38.399 --> 00:15:38.639
Right?
00:15:38.799 --> 00:15:42.240
As much as you can, eat it in moderation.
00:15:42.720 --> 00:15:45.279
Your body was designed to handle some pretty crazy things.
00:15:45.440 --> 00:15:52.960
I I certainly think that your body is capable of digesting those foods every once in a while.
00:15:53.200 --> 00:15:57.919
Now, if you're eating out every day, I I I don't do that.
00:15:58.080 --> 00:15:59.120
That's that's my advice.
00:15:59.279 --> 00:16:09.519
If you're eating out every day and you're always eating this, and it's not just eating out, but you're eating out, especially at these restaurants that you know what ingredients they're using and they're not good.
00:16:09.679 --> 00:16:10.399
Don't do that.
00:16:10.559 --> 00:16:11.279
That's not good.
00:16:11.360 --> 00:16:12.320
That's really bad.
00:16:12.559 --> 00:16:15.519
But for most of us that are eating out every once in a while, right?
00:16:15.600 --> 00:16:25.279
Yeah, PT trade out, you get a burger, you know, you go out, like for example, our our church does men's fellowship once a month, um, either Wednesday or Thursday nights, depends on the month.
00:16:25.360 --> 00:16:35.039
And we'll go out to a restaurant, and each each month we, you know, cycle through our men's members, the members of men, and each man will pick a restaurant.
00:16:35.120 --> 00:16:36.480
Sometimes we picked the same one.
00:16:36.559 --> 00:16:41.279
Um, but everybody gets kind of a chance to pick their own restaurant and we kind of cycle through that.
00:16:41.519 --> 00:16:44.240
And so obviously I'm not I'm not saying don't do that.
00:16:44.320 --> 00:16:44.559
Right?
00:16:44.639 --> 00:16:45.440
You shouldn't go to that.
00:16:45.759 --> 00:16:51.120
That's why I just I can't with some of these guys, you know, that are on social media and they're the make America healthy again, guys.
00:16:51.200 --> 00:16:54.000
And they're like, they're taking a cooler sauerkraut on the plane.
00:16:54.159 --> 00:16:54.639
What?
00:16:54.799 --> 00:16:57.120
I there's just no way I'm doing that.
00:16:57.360 --> 00:17:11.440
Or they're taking like I know a guy who says you gotta drink water, which is true, but when he flies across the country, he said, Well, I don't trust bottled water because the microplastics leak into the water, which is technically true.
00:17:11.519 --> 00:17:13.599
Uh, but come on, man, like what are you gonna do?
00:17:13.759 --> 00:17:15.200
Well, I tell you what he's gonna do.
00:17:15.279 --> 00:17:20.000
Uh he and he doesn't trust the fountain, obviously, because the fountain has all the additives in it.
00:17:20.160 --> 00:17:29.680
He brings, because apparently he can bring fruit on a plane, he brings coconuts and he cracks the coconut and drinks the coconut water or milk, whatever.
00:17:29.839 --> 00:17:34.799
That's that's his hydration during flights are from coconuts, organic coconuts.
00:17:35.119 --> 00:17:37.920
I I mean, I applaud your dedication, dude.
00:17:38.079 --> 00:17:38.559
I do.
00:17:38.720 --> 00:17:46.640
But I'm telling you, for 98% of us or more, that's just never going to happen.
00:17:46.799 --> 00:17:48.160
You're never gonna find me.
00:17:48.240 --> 00:17:58.160
I the only way I'm taking coconuts on a plane are if there's some sort of special, memorable coconuts from some island I got to visit during a vacation that I want to remember forever.
00:17:58.400 --> 00:18:00.079
Nostalgic coconuts, maybe.
00:18:00.240 --> 00:18:01.519
And even that's a stretch.
00:18:01.599 --> 00:18:05.039
I could never see myself, but I'm trying to give a reason why I would ever have coconuts on a plane.
00:18:05.119 --> 00:18:06.720
It's the only reason I can think of.
00:18:07.839 --> 00:18:16.960
All of this to say this was a tangent that basically means nothing, but I the reason I bring it up is a reminder to people that you don't have to get lost in these things.
00:18:17.119 --> 00:18:20.880
And I'm again, no harm, like no, no offense to people that do.
00:18:21.039 --> 00:18:36.799
If you're able to live the life where, like Paul Saladino, very popular in the carnivore movement, but he's not a carnivore, he's he's animal-based, so he also has honey and dairy and um a couple other items that he has that he eats.
00:18:37.599 --> 00:18:48.000
Props to those guys, right, that are able to do that, but he hasn't eaten out in like a decade or and again, if you're able to do that and that's something that you enjoy, go for it.
00:18:48.160 --> 00:18:50.319
I all all the more power to you.
00:18:50.640 --> 00:18:52.000
I I have no problem with that.
00:18:52.160 --> 00:19:07.759
But for the vast majority of us, and this is why I bring up those studies, for the vast majority of us that want to eat healthier generally, but are are not are cannot be confined to never eating out, never getting snacks, you know, that's just insane.
00:19:08.400 --> 00:19:11.680
We need to have laws in place that protect most people.
00:19:12.160 --> 00:19:18.960
And I'm not saying you need a law banning seed oils, uh, though maybe one day in the future we'll get something like that.
00:19:19.200 --> 00:19:28.559
At some point, we're we're gonna recognize how bad a lot of this stuff is and say, realistically, you are poisoning the population, and there should be some sort of punishment for poison.
00:19:28.880 --> 00:19:35.680
You you you are killing people because most people don't have the self-control or the knowledge, because it's not advertised that these things are unhealthy.
00:19:35.759 --> 00:19:37.680
So for us, obviously, we wouldn't have we'd say no.
00:19:37.759 --> 00:19:39.440
I mean, it's our fault if we decide to do it now.
00:19:39.519 --> 00:19:44.240
But still, for the majority of people that don't know, they're being unknowingly poisoned.
00:19:44.960 --> 00:19:52.319
And what's worse is that some of these studies are showing that, like I said, the things like avocado oil are being cut with other oils.
00:19:52.400 --> 00:19:53.920
Well, that should certainly be illegal.
00:19:54.000 --> 00:20:02.480
I I mean that should undeniably, if if your avocado oil, and you can say it's somebody else's fault, like whoever you sourced your avocado oil from, I really don't care who you blame it on.
00:20:02.720 --> 00:20:05.359
You are the one that's selling in stores.
00:20:05.599 --> 00:20:08.640
You, you're you're responsible for your own testing.
00:20:08.799 --> 00:20:11.440
You're responsible for your company's results.
00:20:11.599 --> 00:20:14.160
You don't have to you don't get to blame some other company.
00:20:14.640 --> 00:20:16.319
You don't get to move the blame.
00:20:16.640 --> 00:20:17.359
You did it.
00:20:17.519 --> 00:20:22.880
You sold a product that was avocado oil mixed with other oils that you just called avocado oil.
00:20:22.960 --> 00:20:25.440
That should certainly violate the Texas Deceptive Trade Practices Act.
00:20:25.519 --> 00:20:25.839
You know what?
00:20:25.920 --> 00:20:28.720
After the show, maybe I'll reach out to Ken Paxton, let him know.
00:20:29.119 --> 00:20:35.200
Because that's that's unacceptable that you have these companies that are selling.
00:20:35.279 --> 00:20:36.720
I told you it was 93% of chips.
00:20:36.799 --> 00:20:38.400
It's also, or maybe 81% of chips.
00:20:38.480 --> 00:20:44.559
Either way, a very high number, especially the big brands, Boulder Canyon, Jackson's, the big, you've seen the chips on the shelves that say avocado oil.
00:20:44.720 --> 00:20:45.599
Yeah, fake.
00:20:45.839 --> 00:20:47.519
Fake oil, fake avocado oil.
00:20:47.599 --> 00:20:49.680
It's avocado oil with seed oils.
00:20:50.000 --> 00:20:52.079
How about uh how about how about mayonnaise?
00:20:52.160 --> 00:20:58.559
Do you know 71%, I believe, of mayonnaise that say avocado oil are cut with seed oils?
00:20:58.640 --> 00:20:59.680
How about salad dressings?
00:20:59.759 --> 00:21:02.400
Of the ones tested, 100% of salad dressings.
00:21:02.640 --> 00:21:05.839
100% were found to be cut with other oils.
00:21:06.079 --> 00:21:08.160
So this is what I'm saying.
00:21:08.400 --> 00:21:10.400
That sort of stuff should be illegal.
00:21:10.559 --> 00:21:12.319
That's what Make America Alley again is about.
00:21:12.400 --> 00:21:13.920
It's not about taking sauerkraut on a plane.
00:21:14.079 --> 00:21:15.200
I know that RFK Jr.
00:21:15.279 --> 00:21:16.799
is a special case, and that's pretty cool.
00:21:16.880 --> 00:21:19.680
And props to that guy for being able to really keep his health to a T.
00:21:19.920 --> 00:21:21.599
The guy, I mean, he's earned what he looks like.
00:21:21.680 --> 00:21:29.920
He's earned the ability to do, you know, all the working out and all the physical stamina that he has at his his older age, but there's just no world where that's happening for most of us.
00:21:30.000 --> 00:21:40.079
And the reality is it doesn't need to, as long as we are generally healthy, but that's really tough when these companies, these corporations, are poisoning you and lying about it.
00:21:40.799 --> 00:21:43.759
That's that's where things get into a whole nother mess.
00:21:43.920 --> 00:21:53.599
And so I guess tying this all back into politics, eat healthy generally, and also we should go after the companies that are poisoning people and basically lying about it.
00:21:53.759 --> 00:21:55.440
That that certainly violates something.
00:21:55.680 --> 00:21:58.640
If not the Deceptive Trade Practices Act, I don't know what else it would violate.
00:21:58.720 --> 00:21:59.680
The deceptive trade.
00:22:00.079 --> 00:22:04.240
Practices act is obviously the easiest one I would think to go after them with, but I'm not the attorney general of the state.
00:22:04.319 --> 00:22:05.279
What do I know?
00:22:05.519 --> 00:22:14.960
With that being said, when we get back from the I didn't start to take that long talking about food, but I mean food just gets me, it just keeps me going, you know, as it does all of us.
00:22:15.119 --> 00:22:21.200
And um, if if I wasn't here and I got to pick a job to do any job in the world and I didn't, I didn't do this.
00:22:21.359 --> 00:22:24.000
Now that I've done this, this pop this is certainly my choice of any job.
00:22:24.079 --> 00:22:25.119
I have a dream job.
00:22:25.279 --> 00:22:29.599
If I didn't ever do this and I was picking my dream job, probably would have been food critic.
00:22:29.839 --> 00:22:34.160
Or like, have you guys seen Diners, Dive Ins and Drives uh with Guy Fieri?
00:22:34.240 --> 00:22:37.759
Uh he just travels all over the country trying restaurants.
00:22:37.920 --> 00:22:41.359
Yeah, that and talking about them and getting to like meet people.
00:22:41.519 --> 00:22:43.839
Yeah, that would be dream job number one.
00:22:44.000 --> 00:22:47.519
Um so when I talk about food, sometimes it takes a little extra time.
00:22:47.680 --> 00:22:57.119
With that being said, at the at the when we get back from the break, we have this story coming out where Texas has now intervened to protect an unborn baby with a heart defect.
00:22:57.440 --> 00:22:59.359
Talk about what that actually means when we get back.
00:22:59.519 --> 00:23:04.720
If you would like to text in, the number is 713-779-5978.
00:23:04.880 --> 00:23:05.519
One more time.
00:23:05.599 --> 00:23:10.960
That is 713-779-KYST.
00:23:11.279 --> 00:23:13.519
You're listening to the Lone Star Conservative.
00:23:13.680 --> 00:23:18.720
I'm your host, Michael Wilson, and Lord willing, I'll be right back with the rest of that story after this short break.
00:23:18.799 --> 00:23:19.599
So stick around.
00:23:19.759 --> 00:23:21.119

00:27:37.519 --> 00:27:54.000
Attorney General Ken Paxton is intervening in the parentage case of an unborn Dallas County baby known as Baby Gabriel, whose surrogate mother fled to Texas after his intended parents demanded that he be aborted upon discovery of a serious yet treatable heart condition.
00:27:54.480 --> 00:28:01.279
Baby Gabriel was diagnosed in utero with uh hypoplastic left heart syndrome, a serious congenital heart condition.
00:28:01.519 --> 00:28:07.680
Treatment usually requires three-stage surgeries, starting with the Norwood procedure shortly after birth.
00:28:08.000 --> 00:28:23.119
Paxon is now formally notified both UT Southwestern Medical Center and Children's Medical Center of Dallas about the situation and filed an intervention in the parentage suit to ensure that Gabriel receives the life-saving medical care required with his heart condition.
00:28:23.519 --> 00:28:27.519
Paxon came out and he said this baby Gabriel deserves a chance at life.
00:28:27.599 --> 00:28:32.319
And I will not allow anyone to unlawfully deny him medically necessary care.
00:28:32.559 --> 00:28:39.440
My officer use every tool available to protect innocent lives and ensure that every child receives the care required under Texas law.
00:28:39.839 --> 00:28:47.440
So, for a little bit of background, uh this started because this this mom, I I say mom, she is a mom now, uh, but she was a single mother, her name was McKenna West.
00:28:47.680 --> 00:28:54.640
She was a nurse in Alaska, and she agreed to be a surrogate for a for a couple out in California as a way to make extra income for your family.
00:28:54.720 --> 00:28:57.519
If you did not know, being a surrogate is incredible.
00:28:57.759 --> 00:29:13.359
I mean, just if you want to make a good a good income and you don't care about going through labor, and you don't care about, you know, giving up nine months and having to by the way, I'm speaking of this in these terms, you should never do this.
00:29:13.680 --> 00:29:17.200
Surrogacy, in any example, always turns out bad.
00:29:17.759 --> 00:29:24.960
I it it God designed a woman who's giving birth, who's caring a child for nine months, to be intrinsically connected with that child.
00:29:25.119 --> 00:29:27.200
It's a terrible idea to rip that child away.
00:29:27.440 --> 00:29:27.680
Right?
00:29:27.920 --> 00:29:30.000
I I understand there are cases where that becomes necessary.
00:29:30.240 --> 00:29:36.640
Right in case of adoption or uh death of the mother, or just the incapability of the mother to to to care for that child, right?
00:29:36.720 --> 00:29:37.920
Uh drug addiction, whatever.
00:29:38.000 --> 00:29:38.640
I get it.
00:29:39.200 --> 00:29:41.279
But that should not be something that we pay for.
00:29:41.519 --> 00:29:43.920
That should not be something that we we we begin.
00:29:44.480 --> 00:29:51.599
Surrogacy is almost always some form of human trafficking, and in many cases is absolutely awful for everybody.
00:29:52.960 --> 00:29:56.400
That child is going to grow up knowing there's somebody out there wondering.
00:29:56.559 --> 00:30:00.880
The mom is almost always just distraught later in life.
00:30:01.440 --> 00:30:02.640
It's not usually good.
00:30:02.880 --> 00:30:06.720
I know that the media wants to paint it as a positive for couples who couldn't have kids, and I get it.
00:30:06.799 --> 00:30:15.200
For couples that couldn't have kids, it it's rough and it sucks, and it's something that God has placed before you is suffering for your growth and for his glory, and that's very difficult to come to grips with.
00:30:15.279 --> 00:30:17.200
The same as a lot of suffering in this world.
00:30:17.359 --> 00:30:26.160
But circumventing that like Abraham to to go do it with someone else so that you can get what you want is never a benefit, it's never a blessing.
00:30:26.559 --> 00:30:28.640
It's it's never spoken of that way in the Bible.
00:30:28.799 --> 00:30:31.920
We see anecdotally in the world, it doesn't usually work out that way.
00:30:32.000 --> 00:30:34.640
And here's another clear case example of it.
00:30:34.880 --> 00:30:40.160
Um, because she agreed to be a surrogate for this couple out in California as a way to make extra income.
00:30:40.640 --> 00:30:50.160
And so her pregnancy kind of processed, uh progressed smoothly until around the 20-week ultrasound, at which time Gabriel was diagnosed with this condition.
00:30:50.319 --> 00:31:01.359
Uh, she researched the condition after the diagnosis and discovered that Children's Medical Center of Dallas is known for its 100% success rate in recent years with the Norwood procedure, which is the first procedure he'd need.
00:31:01.920 --> 00:31:16.079
However, shortly after the diagnosis, the parents for not not the parents biologically, but the legal parents, because you sign away your rights, that that that's their child, even when it's in your womb, by the way, the parents demanded that West abort the baby.
00:31:16.319 --> 00:31:21.519
And so after she refused to go through the abortion, they filed suit requesting that she relocate to California for the birth.
00:31:21.680 --> 00:31:26.079
She agreed with the condition that Gabriel's provided surgery upon birth.
00:31:26.240 --> 00:31:32.240
And I don't know exactly, we don't have all the documents as to what they agreed to, what the contracts are, but uh she fled to Texas.
00:31:32.480 --> 00:31:42.240
And Pax's office has alleged that Gabriel's intended parents have refused to consent to the life-saving surgery and could try to transport him outside of Texas to prevent the treatment.
00:31:42.480 --> 00:31:49.039
Kimberlyn Schwartz, director of media communications for Test Right to Life, said that the state is absolutely doing the right thing, which we don't need someone to tell us.
00:31:49.119 --> 00:31:49.680
We we know.
00:31:49.759 --> 00:31:54.720
Uh she said baby Gabriel is known and loved by God, and he deserves to live a happy and full life.
00:31:54.880 --> 00:32:00.559
We're praying for McKenna, the Attorney General's team, the judges, the doctors, and for a change of heart for the intended couple.
00:32:00.720 --> 00:32:06.960
We also pray that this story will be a catalyst from protecting children from surrogacy.
00:32:07.759 --> 00:32:22.160
While the parentage dispute is still pending over in California, Texas, for her part, uh is intervening by requesting that the court enter orders providing for the child's care upon birth, barring his removal from Texas, and setting an expedited hearing on any refusal of consent.
00:32:22.480 --> 00:32:28.240
Direction has also been given to both the UT Southwestern and Children's Medical Center that they have an obligation to provide life-saving treatment to the infant.
00:32:28.400 --> 00:32:31.119
He said the pending parentage dispute determines who speaks to the child.
00:32:31.200 --> 00:32:34.240
It does not determine what life saving treatment must be provided to the child.
00:32:34.480 --> 00:32:46.240
He also directed the hospitals to make no discharge, transfer, or release for transport without prior notice to the court, and to act on no order of another state concerning this child's custody or care without first notifying the court.
00:32:46.400 --> 00:32:48.319
In other words, California doesn't get to come tell you what to do.
00:32:48.480 --> 00:32:50.319
You just listen, you come through me.
00:32:52.000 --> 00:33:03.839
This is another one of those incredibly sad stories that appears like it's going to have a rather happy ending, but an incredibly sad story that again comes out from man's desire to control everything and reject God.
00:33:04.240 --> 00:33:09.519
Again, surrogacy is not God's natural plan for the blessing of children.
00:33:10.079 --> 00:33:15.920
And I I do understand it's the same conversation I had, and it's a a very difficult conversation to have about things like IVF.
00:33:16.160 --> 00:33:20.559
It's very difficult because you're talking to people who say, But science is finally caught up.
00:33:20.720 --> 00:33:25.279
I couldn't have kids, I wanted kids more than anything in the world, and IVF gives me the opportunity.
00:33:25.680 --> 00:33:27.599
You say, No, it doesn't actually.
00:33:27.759 --> 00:33:29.440
IVF murders children.
00:33:30.240 --> 00:33:36.480
And if you love children like you so claim to, how can you justify their murder so that you can get something?
00:33:36.559 --> 00:33:39.039
Because that doesn't sound like loving children, that sounds like selfishness.
00:33:39.680 --> 00:33:41.039
And that's really difficult.
00:33:41.200 --> 00:33:42.640
And you obviously don't have to say it like that.
00:33:42.720 --> 00:33:48.160
There are there are ways that you can talk about these issues that are far more you know understanding.
00:33:48.400 --> 00:33:50.400
But the reality is that's what's happening.
00:33:50.720 --> 00:34:00.240
Surrogacy is for all intents and purposes, it is human trafficking, it is directly against God's design, it is it is a paid by, it is a buying children market.
00:34:00.319 --> 00:34:01.279
That is exactly what you're doing.
00:34:01.359 --> 00:34:02.480
You're buying babies.
00:34:03.039 --> 00:34:05.200
And that's I mean, that's wrong on the face of it.
00:34:05.440 --> 00:34:16.320
And then you look at how many just awful cases of it there are, and that makes sense because sin often follows sin, and and you know, disorder follows disorder, but it's just insane to see the results.
00:34:16.719 --> 00:34:19.199
And stuff like this happens all the time, by the way.
00:34:19.280 --> 00:34:21.440
This is not a one-off case, this is happening all the time.
00:34:21.519 --> 00:34:22.639
You just don't hear about it.
00:34:23.039 --> 00:34:23.760
But sometimes you do.
00:34:23.840 --> 00:34:31.840
We know another case a few years ago, same thing, where you had a woman who she was the surrogate, she had already signed away her rights.
00:34:32.000 --> 00:34:39.199
The thing that was the the baby, the baby that was growing in her womb was not hers, according to the according to the courts.
00:34:39.440 --> 00:34:43.119
She she had signed that baby away to someone else.
00:34:43.679 --> 00:34:50.159
And when the parents, the legal parents, found out about whatever disorder it was, yeah, you gotta get an abortion.
00:34:50.239 --> 00:34:53.199
And the court was basically telling her, that's it's not yours.
00:34:53.519 --> 00:34:54.639
That's they're ordering it.
00:34:54.880 --> 00:34:57.519
This is in their in their contract, they're allowed to make you sign this.
00:34:57.760 --> 00:35:02.320
One of those things is determining medical care for you and the child, that includes abortion.
00:35:02.960 --> 00:35:04.320
Because that's medical care.
00:35:06.079 --> 00:35:19.039
And so whenever I hear all these people talking about how barbaric the Mayans or the Aztecs were, or I hear these people saying, you know, we're we're post-liberal.
00:35:19.440 --> 00:35:19.920
We're good.
00:35:20.079 --> 00:35:21.440
We're we're enlightened.
00:35:22.480 --> 00:35:26.480
And I hear people rejecting Christianity and saying, it doesn't matter though, because we're civilized.
00:35:26.800 --> 00:35:34.880
Who cares if we don't need the Bible was good in a time where everyone was un was was just completely uneducated and barbaric.
00:35:35.039 --> 00:35:36.159
But we live in a new world.
00:35:36.320 --> 00:35:42.400
There's a new there's a new era of world history, and we don't need the boogeyman in order to behave.
00:35:42.800 --> 00:35:44.079
Turns out that you do.
00:35:44.719 --> 00:35:49.440
Because when you don't have him, you s you you sell babies on a black market.
00:35:49.599 --> 00:35:51.360
It's not even a black market, it's totally illegal.
00:35:51.519 --> 00:36:01.519
You sell babies and you allow people to require women who are growing a baby in their womb to kill those children because they don't like the conditions the child has.
00:36:02.480 --> 00:36:05.599
I mean, that is you want to talk about barbarism.
00:36:07.360 --> 00:36:13.440
Despite what the Aztecs and Mayans did, it was it was so obviously barbaric on the face of it.
00:36:14.320 --> 00:36:17.599
Today, we're just as barbaric, but we try to hide them.
00:36:17.840 --> 00:36:24.320
We try to hide it in operating rooms and pretend, like, oh, well, I mean, it's it's okay because I can't see it.
00:36:24.400 --> 00:36:25.039
It's a fetus.
00:36:25.119 --> 00:36:26.159
It's a clump of cells.
00:36:27.119 --> 00:36:29.599
It's a clump of cells made in the image of God, actually.
00:36:30.079 --> 00:36:32.079
Actually, that's that's a clump of cells with a soul.
00:36:32.320 --> 00:36:33.360
I don't know if you know that.
00:36:34.320 --> 00:36:35.760
Uh you're murdering.
00:36:37.599 --> 00:36:39.119
And you don't care.
00:36:40.079 --> 00:36:43.599
And you're murdering a child that you just wanted to buy because you just wanted a kid.
00:36:44.079 --> 00:36:45.760
That's the market of surrogacy.
00:36:46.000 --> 00:36:48.000
That's that's what that market is all about.
00:36:48.559 --> 00:36:51.199
And I, for one, am with Paxton.
00:36:52.159 --> 00:37:01.360
And to be honest, if baby Gabriel were here and they were trying to take him, I I do have a feeling that I would probably die before letting them have him back.
00:37:01.760 --> 00:37:04.239
Because Lord knows what they'd do to him.
00:37:04.559 --> 00:37:11.280
With that being said, to when we get back, we're gonna talk just a quick update on Brazoria County because we still don't have enough details for me to give a full update.
00:37:11.360 --> 00:37:17.519
But Brizzouria County, you have a former deputy who was who has now been charged in the Lake Jackson shooting of a Texas State student.
00:37:17.599 --> 00:37:20.159
You guys remember when this whole story came out, there were a lot of questions.
00:37:20.320 --> 00:37:23.519
Um and I said at the time, hey, I'm not gonna make any determinations.
00:37:23.920 --> 00:37:26.960
You know, get uh innocent until proven guilty is all we can really go with.
00:37:27.039 --> 00:37:29.440
That's the rules of the road, but we don't know.
00:37:29.599 --> 00:37:37.440
Well, now we have some more details, but it's it's kind of weird because we don't have like a full understanding of everything yet, as far as I'm aware.
00:37:37.760 --> 00:37:44.880
But we we do have enough, I think, that we can at least make allegations here, which is what is what they're doing with the charge.
00:37:45.039 --> 00:37:46.800
So we'll talk about that when we get back.
00:37:46.880 --> 00:37:53.920
As always, if you'd like to text in the number, which does not change, is 713-779-5978.

00:39:54.719 --> 00:39:58.719
Saturday mornings at 6th on Patriot Talk, 920.
00:40:21.599 --> 00:40:28.719
So Kevin Tippett, who is the former Brisoria County Sheriff's Office deputy involved in the fatal shooting of Texas State University student John Mendoza Jr.
00:40:28.880 --> 00:40:33.440
in Lake Jackson, has now been indicted on a charge of aggravated assault by a public servant.
00:40:33.599 --> 00:40:35.840
He was indicted about six days ago.
00:40:36.000 --> 00:40:43.119
This just became, I guess, news just came out publicly by a Brizzouria County grand jury on the first degree felony charge.
00:40:43.440 --> 00:40:46.079
Texas Rangers took Tippett into custody at 9 a.m.
00:40:46.400 --> 00:40:48.239
yesterday, according to the district attorney's office.
00:40:48.320 --> 00:40:50.480
He is being processed at the county jail.
00:40:50.719 --> 00:40:59.519
The shooting happened shortly after midnight, back on June 1st, when Tippett followed this teenager into his father's garage and fired his weapon.
00:40:59.679 --> 00:41:03.519
Um accidental discharge was mentioned at the time, but there were other kind of conflicting details.
00:41:03.599 --> 00:41:09.360
And so a lot of it was just up to up to, you know, we don't really know was was the final kind of culmination of all of that.
00:41:09.519 --> 00:41:16.559
According to the affidavit, Tippett initially attempted to stop a red Dodge Challenger for a traffic violation near Oyster Creek Drive in 2004.
00:41:17.760 --> 00:41:19.920
Investigators say that Mendoza Jr.
00:41:20.079 --> 00:41:25.760
fled, reaching speeds of about 120 miles per hour and running six red lights before pulling into the garage of a home.
00:41:25.920 --> 00:41:37.599
The Texas Ranger wrote that after reviewing Tippett's body camera, investigators observed Tippett enter the garage, approach the driver's side door, draw his handgun, and fire a shot through the driver's side window into the passenger compartment.
00:41:37.760 --> 00:41:43.440
After opening the driver's door, investigators say Tippett realized the driver had been struck.
00:41:43.760 --> 00:41:49.440
The affidavit says Tippett then radio dispatched that he experienced an accidental discharge and reported that one man was bleeding.
00:41:49.599 --> 00:41:56.800
The ranger wrote that based on his training and experience, he understood Tippett to be referring to his firearm unintentionally discharging.
00:41:56.960 --> 00:41:57.679
Accidental.
00:41:57.920 --> 00:42:03.440
Investigators say Tippett immediately began lifesaving care until emergency responders arrived.
00:42:03.679 --> 00:42:09.519
The report classifies the manner of death as homicide, identifies law enforcement personnel as the cause of death, and lists the weapon as a handgun.
00:42:09.599 --> 00:42:17.280
Norman Giles, the outside attorney representing Brazoria County, uh kind of said that the language used in the death report came from preset drop-down menu options.
00:42:17.360 --> 00:42:19.840
It wasn't just like a narrative, but that's just kind of how the report goes.
00:42:20.079 --> 00:42:26.639
Regardless of that, according to the search warrant affidavit, investigators recovered a spent nine millimeter casing inside the garage and seized his handgun.
00:42:26.800 --> 00:42:37.440
The warrant also sought a forensic examination to determine whether the firearm functioned properly, whether it had fired the casing of bullet recovered during the investigation, whether any mechanical issues contributed to the shooting, if it was actually an accidental discharge.
00:42:37.679 --> 00:42:45.119
Charles Adams, of course, criticized both documents and said he believes the evidence supports a murder charge rather than the offenses listed in the affidavit.
00:42:45.280 --> 00:42:49.039
Sheriff Bo Stallman announced that Tippett was fired due to policy violations last month.
00:42:49.199 --> 00:42:55.280
The Brazori County District Attorney's Office said it will have no further comment on the case, citing its policy regarding pending litigation.
00:42:55.440 --> 00:42:56.719
But here's the statement from the sheriff.
00:43:16.000 --> 00:43:20.480
Currently, Tippett is being held on a charge of aggravated assault by a public servant, which is a first-degree felony.
00:43:20.639 --> 00:43:21.920
This indictment carries heavy emotion.
00:43:22.000 --> 00:43:22.320
John Jr.
00:43:22.400 --> 00:43:24.639
was a young man who was well loved and had his whole life in front of him.
00:43:24.800 --> 00:43:27.039
He should still be here with his family.
00:43:27.360 --> 00:43:30.480
There is no doubt that this incident had devastating consequences.
00:43:30.559 --> 00:43:36.639
As sheriff, there is nothing more important to me than our citizens trusting law enforcement professionals who are doing their very best to serve them every day.
00:43:36.800 --> 00:43:42.320
I want our citizens to know we do our best to be and to employ individuals who care deeply for our community.
00:43:42.480 --> 00:43:50.559
I urge everyone to keep the families in your prayers, and I want everyone in our community to know my office remains committed to accountability and supporting the legal process.
00:43:50.719 --> 00:43:58.480
I understand the need for answers and accountability, so I would like to thank our community for their continued patience and understanding as this process moves forward.
00:43:59.280 --> 00:43:59.519
We're
00:44:00.000 --> 00:44:02.639
We're running out of time on this segment, but I I do want to say just a couple quick things.
00:44:02.800 --> 00:44:04.320
One, this again, is just an indictment.
00:44:04.400 --> 00:44:06.320
It is not a it is not a conviction.
00:44:06.800 --> 00:44:12.159
And I'm not gonna come out and say, you know, things don't look bad, but uh we don't know.
00:44:13.280 --> 00:44:15.840
Can anyone raise their hand if they've seen the body camera footage?
00:44:16.079 --> 00:44:16.320
Right?
00:44:16.400 --> 00:44:17.360
We we don't know.
00:44:17.679 --> 00:44:29.039
And the reality is that there are lots of accidents and accidents happen, and sometimes there are accidents um that are obviously problematic that deserve certain punishment, but that aren't obviously intentional.
00:44:29.360 --> 00:44:30.719
And that still deserves something.
00:44:30.800 --> 00:44:31.440
I don't know what.
00:44:31.519 --> 00:44:33.440
We'd have to talk about it, but we don't have the time.
00:44:33.599 --> 00:44:41.199
But it obviously wouldn't be the same as an aggravated assault charge or a hometow or a you know, felony murder charge if it if it's a manslaughter.
00:44:41.360 --> 00:44:42.639
But we don't know any of that.
00:44:42.800 --> 00:44:46.960
He's been indicted by a grand jury, but we still have yet to see the evidence.
00:44:47.119 --> 00:44:51.360
We got to see all the actual details, not just statements of the details, hearsay, basically.
00:44:51.519 --> 00:44:58.960
Uh, and we'll see what the court ends up ultimately deciding once all that evidence is accurately presented, and and we'll get more details then.
00:44:59.119 --> 00:45:01.199
In the meantime, I would encourage everyone to remember a couple things.
00:45:01.360 --> 00:45:07.039
One, of course, we should be able to trust law enforcement, and that requires that they behave with the highest level of accountability and professionalism.
00:45:07.199 --> 00:45:11.119
And so if that's not the case here, there needs to be punitive results, right?
00:45:11.280 --> 00:45:16.480
We understand the just system has to pursue justice, even and especially in cases where there's authority involved.
00:45:16.719 --> 00:45:23.199
We also need to understand in the presumption of innocence, in the stress that our boys in blue are dealing with every day.
00:45:23.360 --> 00:45:25.039
I mean, you have to chase this guy down.
00:45:25.199 --> 00:45:26.239
You don't know he's a teenager.
00:45:26.320 --> 00:45:28.079
You're chasing him down 120 miles an hour.
00:45:28.159 --> 00:45:29.199
He flies into a garage.
00:45:29.360 --> 00:45:32.719
You don't know if he's now saying, This is my property, I'm gonna defend it when he gets out of his.
00:45:32.960 --> 00:45:34.960
So, you know, there is a lot of stress there.
00:45:35.119 --> 00:45:36.320
That doesn't justify that happen.
00:45:36.480 --> 00:45:40.639
I'm just painting out a picture here to remind people to balance.
00:45:40.880 --> 00:45:42.079
There's a lot of stress.
00:45:42.239 --> 00:45:45.280
Keep police officers and law enforcement in your prayers.
00:45:45.440 --> 00:45:52.400
Uh, you know, continue to pray that God would strengthen them and allow them to use professional standards in the work they do.
00:45:52.639 --> 00:45:56.239
And also let's hold them accountable if they do something wrong.
00:45:56.480 --> 00:46:02.480
With that being said, we'll wrap up the first hour of the show when we get back with the weather report coming up in the next segment.
00:46:02.639 --> 00:46:07.920
If you'd like to text in, the number is 713-779-5978.
00:46:08.079 --> 00:46:15.920
You can let us know if you disagree with something I've said, if you have extra comments, something that you want clarified, or a story that I haven't reported on yet that you want to hear more about.
00:46:16.079 --> 00:46:20.800
Again, that is 713-779-KYST.
00:46:20.960 --> 00:46:22.000
I'm your host, Michael Wilson.
00:46:22.159 --> 00:46:23.840
You are listening to the Lone Star Conservative.
00:46:24.000 --> 00:46:27.599
I'll be right back to wrap up the first hour of the show with the weather report.
00:46:27.760 --> 00:46:29.760
After this, your break will stick around.
00:46:29.920 --> 00:46:32.159
And Lord Willie, we'll talk very soon.
00:46:34.159 --> 00:46:37.280
Have you thought about buying a gun or even carrying a gun?
00:46:37.440 --> 00:46:40.079
But you don't know if that's smart or where to start.

I can help.
00:46:41.199 --> 00:46:43.599

You're listening to Lone Star Conservative.
00:49:44.159 --> 00:49:48.239
I'm your morning host, Michael Wilson, and we're jumping right into the weather report this morning.
00:49:48.400 --> 00:49:54.079
Starting off, Houston is less than three weeks away from the start of meteorological fall.
00:49:54.159 --> 00:49:55.679
Uh which, of course, I get it.
00:49:55.840 --> 00:50:00.480
With that comes the temptation to start wondering, well, when is our first real cold front coming?
00:50:00.719 --> 00:50:02.480
Um, don't expect one.
00:50:02.960 --> 00:50:04.880
That's my that's my word of wisdom.
00:50:05.039 --> 00:50:06.559
You're not getting one at all.
00:50:06.800 --> 00:50:08.000
Maybe by Christmas.
00:50:08.159 --> 00:50:10.719
Uh meteorological fall, of course, begins September 1st.
00:50:10.880 --> 00:50:12.480
That's just based on the calendar.
00:50:12.800 --> 00:50:19.199
But the atmosphere does not pay much attention to, again, our sort of calendar divisions, right?
00:50:19.280 --> 00:50:19.760
They don't care.
00:50:19.920 --> 00:50:21.679
The weather does not care about any of that.
00:50:21.920 --> 00:50:27.679
Mid-August remains very early for Houston to find that sort of refreshing, cooler, drier air.
00:50:27.760 --> 00:50:32.880
Uh, and the weather pattern over the next couple of weeks is is offering very little reason to think it's going to go any other way.
00:50:33.119 --> 00:50:37.440
Instead, high air pressure is going to strengthen across the region through the end of this week.
00:50:37.679 --> 00:50:46.000
Today should bring fewer showers and thunderstorms in the past couple of days, with attorney temperatures gradually and generally reaching the middle to upper 90s.
00:50:46.239 --> 00:50:51.039
A subtle drop in atmospheric moisture should make showers and thunderstorms harder to come by today.
00:50:51.119 --> 00:51:03.119
Uh, you still could get, you know, an isolated morning shower along the coast, uh, maybe a couple downpours reaching the I-10 corridor by the afternoon, but most neighborhoods, and that's a very vast most, are going to remain dry.
00:51:03.440 --> 00:51:08.880
The reduced rain coverage combined with strengthening high pressure is going to allow temperatures again to climb a little more than where we've been.
00:51:09.039 --> 00:51:14.880
Average temperatures should reach the mid-90s across much of the Houston area, with upper 90s possible farther inland.
00:51:15.039 --> 00:51:20.559
A southerly wind should provide some consolation as breezes become stronger, especially through tomorrow and Friday.
00:51:20.800 --> 00:51:28.960
Thursday, tomorrow also looks less favorable for rain as drier air settles over Southeast Texas, with temperatures again reaching the middle to upper nineties.
00:51:29.199 --> 00:51:35.280
High air pressures are going to continue expanding westward this week, resulting in hotter and generally drier air across Southeast Texas.
00:51:35.440 --> 00:51:40.880
Small day-to-day changes in moisture is going to determine whether the seabreeze can squeeze out some showers, whatever.
00:51:40.960 --> 00:51:43.840
Uh, but rain chances are generally remaining below 30%.
00:51:44.480 --> 00:51:48.719
So any given day of the weekend, most neighborhoods are gonna stay dry.
00:51:48.960 --> 00:51:52.239
Uh, temperatures should remain in the middle toper 90s into the weekend.
00:51:52.480 --> 00:51:55.039
Anyone searching the long-range forecast for a hint of fall?
00:51:55.519 --> 00:51:56.800
Look a couple months away.
00:51:56.880 --> 00:52:02.559
Uh the major ontopable forecasts, which run many versions of the weather model to gauge the most likely outcome, fairly agree on the overall pattern.
00:52:02.719 --> 00:52:11.119
A broad ridge of high air pressure should dominate much of the southern U.S., keeping storms well north of Texas and making any meaningful cold front really before even September, very unlikely.
00:52:11.199 --> 00:52:14.159
You're not gonna get that till at least September, probably October.
00:52:14.239 --> 00:52:16.239
Um, we're gonna have above normal temperatures till then.
00:52:16.320 --> 00:52:18.079
That'll do it for your weather report today.
00:52:18.400 --> 00:52:21.760
With that being said, we're gonna have Sidney Henry coming on after the break from Texas Scorecard.
00:52:21.840 --> 00:52:23.119
We've got quite a few stories to go over.
00:52:23.280 --> 00:52:25.519
Stuff that you have not heard yet, but need announcements on.
00:52:25.599 --> 00:52:26.480
We'll talk about it when we get back.
00:52:26.559 --> 00:52:29.119
Text in 713-779-5978.
00:52:29.199 --> 00:52:34.719
I'm your host, Michael Wilson, and Lord William Back with Texas Scorecard at the top of the next hour.
00:52:34.800 --> 00:52:36.480
Stick around, we'll talk soon.
00:52:46.400 --> 00:52:52.639
From deep in the heart of Texas, it's Houston's God-loving patriot, the voice of reason.
00:52:52.960 --> 00:52:57.039
This is the Lone Star Conservative, Michael Wilson.
00:53:13.039 --> 00:53:14.480
Welcome back, ladies and gentlemen.
00:53:14.559 --> 00:53:21.599
I'm your host, Michael Wilson, and you're listening to the Lone Star Conservative right here on Patriot Talk 920.
00:53:21.760 --> 00:53:25.199
And joining me this morning is Sedney Henry from Texas Scorecard.
00:53:25.280 --> 00:53:39.039
Coming on, we had a couple different stories that all kind of tie together uh questions about what's going on in our political realm, especially state of Texas, statewide sort of stories, but a lot of those tie back into our home, our day-to-day lives, the safety of our children.
00:53:39.199 --> 00:53:45.920
All of those sorts of things are all entailed in, of course, a lot of the legislature and a lot of those decisions coming out of the governor's office, so on and so forth.
00:53:46.079 --> 00:53:48.559
So join me today to discuss all of that is Sidney Henry.
00:53:48.639 --> 00:53:49.840
Welcome to the show, Sidney.
00:53:50.079 --> 00:53:51.440
Thanks so much for having me, Michael.
00:53:51.679 --> 00:53:52.000
Of course.
00:53:52.079 --> 00:53:54.000
I want to, I want to kick it off with an idea.
00:53:54.159 --> 00:54:03.039
I think a lot of people have been wondering uh about this Secretary of State debacle, because you remember Jane Nelson was originally the Secretary of State, had been for a while.
00:54:03.280 --> 00:54:03.920
She resigned.
00:54:04.000 --> 00:54:06.320
I think that went into effect, what, very end of July, end of June?
00:54:06.400 --> 00:54:06.800
One of those two.
00:54:06.880 --> 00:54:07.840
I think it was end of July.
00:54:09.119 --> 00:54:09.599
Yeah, yeah.
00:54:09.760 --> 00:54:14.000
And she she one of the it's really sad because I'm sure she did a lot of good things.
00:54:14.079 --> 00:54:28.159
Uh, but then the last, the last thing, the best big news thing that happened was that she adamantly opposed closing the primaries, uh, at least from a lawsuit perspective, uh, from it being done by the Secretary of State.
00:54:28.400 --> 00:54:35.599
And so, you know, a lot of people are like, that was her kind of outgoing legacy for a lot of people was saying, okay, so this is what you're opposing as you leave.
00:54:35.760 --> 00:54:43.199
Well, we got a new Secretary of State uh appointed, and people were kind of wondering where does, because this is the big question.
00:54:43.679 --> 00:54:48.159
Some people felt like maybe that was, you know, part of the reason for resignation, all this drama, whatever.
00:54:48.400 --> 00:54:52.400
Regardless of any of that, a lot of people are saying, hey, so where do things go from here?
00:54:52.480 --> 00:54:53.679
Where does that lawsuit go?
00:54:53.840 --> 00:54:55.920
What's the new Secretary of State's position?
00:54:56.000 --> 00:54:58.719
And then we finally have an update on some of that.
00:54:59.199 --> 00:55:00.159
Yeah, absolutely.
00:55:00.320 --> 00:55:06.400
So the new Secretary of State, Robert Housing, who took office just recently, and one of the first things that the U.S.
00:55:06.480 --> 00:55:10.800
district judge, who's overseeing the case, asked him, like, okay, where do you where do you stand?
00:55:10.880 --> 00:55:12.239
Where does your office stand now?
00:55:12.480 --> 00:55:14.000
Are you taking the same legal position?
00:55:14.880 --> 00:55:18.639
He's come on and he said the only thing that changed is the name that depends on the case.
00:55:31.679 --> 00:55:34.159
Um court cases take a while.
00:55:34.239 --> 00:55:40.880
So there's a chance the legislature does something, and maybe the case gets voted out next summer after the legislature enacts something.
00:55:40.960 --> 00:55:45.760
But in the meantime, the case is still there as pressure on lawmakers, you know, gets us done.
00:55:46.079 --> 00:55:46.320
Right.
00:55:46.400 --> 00:55:49.840
And I think I think probably most people would prefer it that way anyway.
00:55:50.159 --> 00:55:55.440
Like I said, this lawsuit has taken a long time to even start in the first place because they wanted the legislature to do it.
00:55:55.599 --> 00:55:57.920
If they didn't care, I think this lawsuit would have come.
00:55:58.000 --> 00:56:03.920
I mean, because the party has been pushing for closed primaries, closed primaries since before the last legislative session.
00:56:04.159 --> 00:56:10.079
And so I think if there was no desire to have it pass into law in the state, then they would have just filed the suit far sooner.
00:56:10.239 --> 00:56:17.360
But I think we all want that to happen because then it's Texas state law, and it's not that the next court in five years can just reverse it all.
00:56:17.440 --> 00:56:18.559
It's it's a state law.
00:56:18.800 --> 00:56:20.960
And so obviously that's the desired outcome.
00:56:21.119 --> 00:56:24.719
I think part of the concern is, well, the legislature hasn't done it up to this point.
00:56:24.880 --> 00:56:27.519
We know that it's a right because other you can't violate the constitution.
00:56:27.599 --> 00:56:30.400
Other states have done it, and that's been verified as totally legal.
00:56:30.719 --> 00:56:41.440
Um and so I think a lot of concern and and why this suit is important now is yeah, we'd all like to see it be passed into law, especially since the legislature is now only a few months away.
00:56:41.519 --> 00:56:55.119
We'd love to see the next legislature, especially since trial again takes so long that realistically, even if you know we were gonna win the party was gonna win the lawsuit, that wouldn't really get done anywhere near by the time the legislative session is getting here and bills are being signed.
00:56:55.280 --> 00:56:57.119
And so we'd like to see that happen.
00:56:57.280 --> 00:57:02.239
But if it doesn't, I think there's still that open avenue of, hey, maybe we can do this through the courts.
00:57:02.320 --> 00:57:05.039
But again, we'd rather do it through new law than interpretation of law.
00:57:05.119 --> 00:57:07.440
Uh and so hopefully that's the way things go.
00:57:07.920 --> 00:57:08.639
Hopefully so.
00:57:08.719 --> 00:57:20.239
And we've now got you know, Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick's on board, hot speaker Justin Burrows has kind of signaled that he's on board, Governor Abbott at the Republican Party of Texas convention in June in Houston.
00:57:32.079 --> 00:57:37.679
That they're kind of at a similar position of we want this in statutory, we want this in law, we want it here.
00:57:38.000 --> 00:57:42.159
We don't want we don't want the court kind of deciding how it will go.
00:57:42.480 --> 00:57:42.639
Right.
00:57:42.880 --> 00:57:44.239
Which again, go ahead.
00:57:45.119 --> 00:57:46.480
Because who knows how that would play out.
00:57:46.719 --> 00:57:58.079
Yeah, and who knows how to play out, but also like in general, I think most people understand that the courts are much, I don't want to say volatile, but the judiciary at this point, both criminal and civil, has just gotten so messed up and twisted.
00:57:58.239 --> 00:58:05.440
I think a lot of people understand that I would rather have law that's very clear about something than have a court ruling about the thing.
00:58:05.519 --> 00:58:08.320
I I think that's just uh unmistakably true.
00:58:08.480 --> 00:58:09.920
Hopefully, again, that's the way things go.
00:58:10.079 --> 00:58:11.039
We've always wanted that.
00:58:11.119 --> 00:58:15.039
We wanted it the last the last legislative session, it just didn't go anywhere.
00:58:15.199 --> 00:58:16.880
So hopefully things change this time.
00:58:16.960 --> 00:58:20.400
Now I'm gonna jump over and we got two stories that kind of flow right together.
00:58:20.480 --> 00:58:21.840
We'll start with Magnolia.
00:58:22.000 --> 00:58:29.760
Can you I hate putting this on you, can you walk us through what happened here?
00:58:30.480 --> 00:58:31.360
Yes, absolutely.
00:58:31.519 --> 00:58:38.480
So there's a Magnolia, who's a Magnolia IST teacher, and he was accused of molesting girls in his second grade classroom.
00:58:38.559 --> 00:58:41.280
So these are seven, maybe eight-year-old girls.
00:58:42.079 --> 00:58:48.000
And he's now thinking from additional target relationships.
00:59:34.000 --> 00:59:37.199
No parent wants their child to have to pay.
00:59:37.519 --> 00:59:37.840
Yeah.
00:59:38.559 --> 00:59:44.639
And again, I would remind people that obviously from a legal perspective, right?
00:59:44.719 --> 00:59:50.480
We understand that that all sort of teacher abuse you know cases are all in their own ways evil.
00:59:50.559 --> 01:00:04.400
I actually talked about this the other day because I I highlighted uh I think you guys, we actually report Scorecard actually reported on both the Friends Wood teacher uh and the Houston area teacher, and kind of highlighted, you know, you have one where you have this girl who's 16, likes this teacher, she turns 18, they start talking.
01:00:04.559 --> 01:00:19.360
And obviously there's a lot of concern about abuse of power and the dynamics of almost like a mentor figure, uh, where even if, you know, it's quote unquote consensual or whatever, there's still a level of we understand why that can't happen, why that needs to have accountability, and why that teacher can't be around kids.
01:00:19.519 --> 01:00:20.159
We get that.
01:00:20.320 --> 01:00:35.519
But then you contrast that and you look at these teachers that are with second grade, third grade students working in elementary schools, and you realize that there's this level of perversion that's snuck into the public school system in a variety of ways from different teachers that that is absolutely disgusting.
01:00:35.599 --> 01:00:47.920
It's why we now have uh the office of inspector general for educator misconduct, why we have new dashboards, all these things, because it's become, I I don't want to say that it's it's gotten so much, but it's become such a major problem in our school system.
01:00:48.079 --> 01:00:50.159
Uh schools are where children should always feel safe.
01:00:50.239 --> 01:00:55.760
If we're gonna have them at all, uh, that is a place that that children should should completely be safe at all times.
01:00:56.000 --> 01:01:14.079
And when the the danger is coming from the people we employ on the taxpayers' dime to serve kids, I I I I just I it's unfathomable to me if we have just one of these cases and to have, I mean, just in the Houston area, to have just two or three of them in the span of just a couple weeks is is absolutely insane.
01:01:14.719 --> 01:01:17.199
It is, and like school isn't even in session right now.
01:01:17.360 --> 01:01:18.079
So that's the thing.
01:01:18.239 --> 01:01:23.920
You think like, oh, you see these cases and you see them like nine months of the year, and so maybe it makes sense that there are so many of them.
01:01:24.079 --> 01:01:26.400
Well, no, because we see them all year, all year long.
01:01:26.639 --> 01:01:45.840
I don't think a week goes by where one of our reporters, Aaron Anderson, hasn't covered at least three uh cases of educator misconduct, whether that needs like inappropriate relationships with students, whether it's a teacher in their whether it's a position of child pornography, like whatever the case may be.
01:01:46.079 --> 01:01:49.679
Um I don't think a week goes by where we don't have at least three.
01:01:50.079 --> 01:01:50.800
Three cases.
01:01:51.119 --> 01:01:52.159
Yeah, absolutely wild.
01:01:52.239 --> 01:01:55.280
And a lot of that comes down, I think, to people's concern about justice.
01:01:55.440 --> 01:02:00.559
Um you know, not to get into too much of the logistics on it, but I think I've highlighted this so many times.
01:02:00.800 --> 01:02:05.199
A lot of the question surrounding crime in general is risk versus reward for people.
01:02:05.440 --> 01:02:07.760
We do that, by the way, in our in our everyday lives, right?
01:02:07.840 --> 01:02:20.559
It every decision basically that we make in general is risk and reward, even if we're not thinking about it, what jobs we take, uh, where we're gonna go to the store, traffic times, when we're driving like all of those are risk versus reward.
01:02:20.719 --> 01:02:22.079
And criminals do the same thing.
01:02:22.159 --> 01:02:31.840
That's why when California comes out and they say, hey, we're not gonna prosecute anyone uh who steals less than a thousand dollars worth of merchandise, it's not a shock that theft goes majorly up for under$1,000 crimes.
01:02:31.920 --> 01:02:33.360
Because this is leap.
01:02:33.519 --> 01:02:35.679
Yeah, the reward is high and the risk is non-existent.
01:02:35.840 --> 01:02:38.159
And so risk reward would say, Well, why don't I do that thing?
01:02:38.320 --> 01:02:44.400
And and as Christians, obviously, like I would say, well, because God says not to, and that's my my risk is I'm I'm disobeying the word of God.
01:02:44.559 --> 01:02:50.159
But for you know, your average person, they'd say, Yeah, but I I only don't do that because the law says don't, and I get in trouble.
01:02:50.239 --> 01:02:51.679
If I'm not gonna get in trouble, I'm gonna do it.
01:02:51.840 --> 01:03:04.079
And so a lot of people look at the the number of crimes in the public school system and they say, well, obviously, if it's happening with this level of frequency, the risk isn't high enough that they justify the reward as being worth it.
01:03:04.320 --> 01:03:09.679
And so that's a question of is justice being done to a degree where because justice is twofold, right?
01:03:09.760 --> 01:03:11.440
It's the as and Ken Paxton even said this.
01:03:11.519 --> 01:03:13.679
I was very proud of Paxson for coming out and saying this phrase.
01:03:13.760 --> 01:03:16.960
He said it's the punishment of the wicked and the protection of the innocent.
01:03:17.039 --> 01:03:18.639
It's not just one or the other, it's both.
01:03:18.880 --> 01:03:25.199
And if that's not happening, because in a sense, justice should be preventative by nature, then we're doing something wrong.
01:03:25.360 --> 01:03:34.800
So I want to tie it back into this other update, a very exciting update coming from from the governor's office, uh, with this push uh for a mandatory sentence.
01:03:34.960 --> 01:03:38.880
Can you walk us through this announcement, this update, and kind of give us some details on it?
01:03:39.360 --> 01:03:40.000
Yeah, absolutely.
01:03:40.079 --> 01:03:50.480
So yesterday in Levitt, Governor Abbott called for a 10-year mandatory minimum for these cases of like improper relationship between educator and students.
01:03:51.199 --> 01:04:09.519
And he actually said that there have been 1500 allegations of that recording last year, which was really like really educator convicted.
01:04:12.239 --> 01:04:18.239
Um relationship with kids would make the mandatory minimum tenance of ten years in prison.
01:04:18.480 --> 01:04:26.400
And then it would also prohibit like community supervision or just deferred adjudication, any of those kinds of options to get you out of that.
01:04:27.679 --> 01:04:27.920
Right.
01:04:28.000 --> 01:04:32.880
And I've been saying for a long time, a lot of the problem with the justice system isn't just the trials themselves.
01:04:32.960 --> 01:04:35.840
It's not just the convictions, uh, it's not dropped cases.
01:04:36.000 --> 01:04:36.800
There is a lot of that.
01:04:36.960 --> 01:04:37.920
There is certainly some of that.
01:04:38.000 --> 01:04:54.159
We know that I mean, you I'm sure you guys remember y'all reported on it back when uh I think it was Texas 911 came out and they were doing the uh the big thing about how many of these cases were just basically being dropped and not investigated generally uh by the TEA.
01:04:54.639 --> 01:04:55.840
Massive problem.
01:04:56.159 --> 01:05:09.840
And so there is a lot of that for sure, but there's also a lot of, I don't want to say activist judges, because I think maybe that's not the case in all of these, but there's a lot of judges who are are not pursuing justice to the highest degree, full accountability.
01:05:10.000 --> 01:05:15.679
And people are getting, I think what a lot of us would say are slaps on the wrist for what should be incredibly heinous crimes.
01:05:15.840 --> 01:05:18.480
And that's why that risk-reward ratio is so off.
01:05:18.639 --> 01:05:30.239
And I think we have the opportunity to say we we we're giving sentencers so much power that is being abused to where children aren't being protected by the court system when they should be.
01:05:30.400 --> 01:05:34.159
Uh that mandatory sentences, I don't see why we're not using them more than we are.
01:05:35.199 --> 01:05:39.199
Yeah, there was kind of that whole push maybe 10 years ago of the mandatory minimum.
01:05:39.280 --> 01:05:45.119
It doesn't work, it doesn't accomplish anything, and so a lot of places like rolled some of them back or changed them some.
01:05:45.199 --> 01:05:48.239
I I understand like sometimes that's how policy works.
01:05:48.320 --> 01:05:50.719
We're like, okay, this isn't working, so we're gonna try something else.
01:05:51.119 --> 01:06:42.719
Uh but I think that it is clear that it hurt it is uh it didn't hurt for that and one of the things that the And so it's just one of those things that leaves you kind of questioning, and certainly I think a lot of the reaction to Abbott's proposal has been has been good.
01:06:42.960 --> 01:06:46.800
You know, people are ready to see justice or absolutely.
01:06:46.880 --> 01:06:52.400
And and I want to remind everybody again, um, going back to that same risk question, right?
01:06:52.480 --> 01:06:59.280
Because right now the way the system functions, even if the judges weren't doing all of that, there's still that in the back of the mind of a criminal saying, well, it's gonna go to court.
01:06:59.360 --> 01:07:02.559
Maybe I can convince a jury, maybe the judge will be lenient, all those things.
01:07:02.719 --> 01:07:14.480
If you have a known mandatory sentence and you say, no matter what, if if I get convicted, if it's proven that I did this thing and I did and I did do it, then I'm gonna get 10 years, bare minimum, bar everything else.
01:07:14.559 --> 01:07:20.000
And it could be more than that, it could be more extreme, but I'm gonna be a registered sex offender and get 10 years in prison.
01:07:20.159 --> 01:07:33.440
I certainly think that would create and and maybe this is just logical and not, you know, we don't have the evidence because it's not been passed, but I don't see why that wouldn't automatically be at least a major deterrent to a lot of these people saying I'm guaranteed to get this sort of punishment.
01:07:34.880 --> 01:07:38.079
I would certainly think so, because that's that's 10 years of your life.
01:07:38.239 --> 01:07:41.199
That's a mark that follows you on your record for ever.
01:07:42.239 --> 01:07:45.920
So I would certainly I would certainly assume it would help.
01:07:46.239 --> 01:07:50.239
One question I have is this push, logistically speaking, what does it look like?
01:07:50.400 --> 01:07:56.800
Are we looking at uh would this be a sort of law passed by the legislature that the governor signs that he's kind of supporting, considering a priority?
01:07:56.960 --> 01:08:01.360
Uh what what because obviously he's done that with bond issues before, saying, hey, we'll even call a special session if need be.
01:08:01.519 --> 01:08:02.639
What does it look like in this case?
01:08:02.719 --> 01:08:04.320
What does that sort of push look like?
01:08:05.039 --> 01:08:07.920
Yeah, I think it looks like it's just a legislative push ahead of session.
01:08:08.079 --> 01:08:17.680
Abbott's kind of rolling out several of his proposals on everything from housing affordability and insurance and property taxes to stuff like this with the educator and sexual misconduct.
01:08:18.159 --> 01:08:31.680
And so maybe if he makes it one of his kind of priority items when he gives his data draft years, then the legislature can start working on it even before other bills and the session.
01:08:31.920 --> 01:08:34.640
They can they tackle, they can tackle the governor's priorities first.
01:08:34.720 --> 01:08:43.920
And so if this is one of them, then they can really they can get it rolling, and there shouldn't I this seems to at least thankfully be a bipartisan issue of protecting the kids.
01:08:44.079 --> 01:08:47.199
So Yeah, you'd you'd at least you'd certainly hope so.
01:08:48.000 --> 01:08:52.960
There would be, I think, some some words to be had if this turned into a partisan debate.
01:08:53.119 --> 01:08:55.840
I I think that would be where we would say, okay, what's what's going on?
01:08:56.000 --> 01:08:59.039
What I know you guys are crazy, but what's what's going on here?
01:08:59.199 --> 01:09:06.239
Um, but with that being said, Sydney, where can everyone find all this info and so much more on things going on all around the state of Texas?
01:09:06.560 --> 01:09:10.720
You can always find us at Texaswork.com and on all of our socials.
01:09:11.199 --> 01:09:11.600
Awesome.

Of course.
01:09:24.399 --> 01:09:31.119
With that being said, ladies and gentlemen, when we get back, we're going to talk about this Montgomery County targeted uh retail theft operation.
01:09:31.439 --> 01:09:34.640
Kind of go into who was charged, what it looks like, all of that coming up.
01:09:34.800 --> 01:09:37.920

01:13:45.760 --> 01:13:49.840
The Montgomery County Sheriff's Office said a targeted four-day operation led to 23 arrests.
01:13:50.079 --> 01:13:53.119
Deputies also covered thousands of dollars in stolen merchandise.
01:13:53.199 --> 01:14:03.760
The Sheriff's Office Crime Reduction Unit said deputies worked with local retailers and loss prevention teams from August 4th through August 7th to monitor commercial areas, identify suspected shoplifters, and apprehend suspects.
01:14:04.000 --> 01:14:09.199
The arrests include cases involving organized retail theft, shoplifting, outstanding warrants, and drug crimes.
01:14:09.359 --> 01:14:16.319
Deputies also recovered more than$5,200 worth of stolen merchandise, and they returned the items directly to the affected businesses.
01:14:16.479 --> 01:14:26.960
The Sheriff's Office said it regularly conducts proactive enforcement operations to improve public safety, and officials described this initiative as part of a broader push to work directly with retailers to protect businesses, employees, and shoppers.
01:14:27.199 --> 01:14:34.000
Sheriff Wesley Doolittle emphasized the importance of community partnerships, saying the Sheriff's Office and the community are better together.
01:14:34.399 --> 01:14:39.520
But again, something that I want to highlight, first of all, is that obviously the response to this may be jail time.
01:14:40.000 --> 01:14:41.680
The real response needs to be required work.
01:14:41.920 --> 01:14:45.520
Whoever you stole from, you should have to work for them for like two years or five years.
01:14:45.600 --> 01:14:47.600
You should have to work to pay off your debts.
01:14:47.840 --> 01:14:50.000
You shouldn't just be able to give it back and be like, all right, I took what I stole.
01:14:50.159 --> 01:14:51.119
That's not a punishment.
01:14:51.279 --> 01:14:52.880
That's literally what things were before.
01:14:53.039 --> 01:14:56.319
There needs to also be a punishment for said crime for what you did.
01:14:56.640 --> 01:15:00.479
In a case like this, it's very obviously something like that.
01:15:00.720 --> 01:15:04.960
But another thing I want to highlight is that you have the right to defend your things, actually.
01:15:05.039 --> 01:15:06.399
Uh and this is something that's crazy to me.
01:15:06.479 --> 01:15:14.720
I I saw something the other day, and this was very funny because the Idaho and obviously somewhere like Minneapolis, very different places.
01:15:15.199 --> 01:15:20.720
Um and the Minneapolis police and Idaho police, I know you have state and city, but it it you understand the difference.
01:15:21.600 --> 01:15:26.239
They both gave out their tips for how to deal uh you know it's officer safety tips.
01:15:27.119 --> 01:15:28.640
You wonder y this is very funny.
01:15:28.880 --> 01:15:30.960
The Minneapolis officer safety tips.
01:15:31.199 --> 01:15:32.079
Don't walk alone.
01:15:32.239 --> 01:15:33.359
Only carry items you need.
01:15:33.520 --> 01:15:35.680
Be prepared to give up your cell phone, purse, or wallet.
01:15:35.840 --> 01:15:36.800
Don't fight with criminals.
01:15:36.960 --> 01:15:38.800
Be prepared to describe suspects.
01:15:39.119 --> 01:15:41.840
The Idaho police safety tips.
01:15:42.000 --> 01:15:42.800
You ready for this?
01:15:42.960 --> 01:15:44.319
Carry a firearm.
01:15:44.640 --> 01:15:45.920
Use firearm.
01:15:46.079 --> 01:15:47.199
Call 911.
01:15:47.279 --> 01:15:51.279
Tell officers you were afraid for your life and will answer any other questions of the lawyer president.
01:15:51.520 --> 01:15:54.000
Do you see the difference there between Idaho and Minneapolis?
01:15:54.159 --> 01:15:56.239
Minneapolis, just let them take your things.
01:15:56.399 --> 01:15:57.279
Just let them have it.
01:15:57.439 --> 01:15:57.920
Don't fight.
01:15:58.079 --> 01:15:59.840
Idaho says, no, no, no, stand up for yourself.
01:16:00.159 --> 01:16:00.720
Be a man.
01:16:01.039 --> 01:16:02.399
Actually, defend your family.
01:16:02.800 --> 01:16:03.600
That's what you're called to do.
01:16:03.760 --> 01:16:05.359
Carry a firearm and use it.
01:16:05.600 --> 01:16:10.640
But in order for you to do that, you've got to have the right to do that, which is why you should become a member of our sponsor, Gun Owners of America.
01:16:10.800 --> 01:16:17.279
Gunners of America is fighting every, literally every day, for your God-given constitutionally enshrined rights.
01:16:17.439 --> 01:16:28.000
And that requires the support of their members to do that, but they do that in a variety of ways, from campaigning for good candidates for office who are actually going to get into office and stand by their principles to defend and support your rights.
01:16:28.159 --> 01:16:36.640
That also means lobbying for bills because you can have the best candidates in the world, but if you don't highlight the bills that they need to pass and make sure they understand which bills they don't need to, they need that support.
01:16:36.960 --> 01:16:42.800
Gunner's America is delivering that each and every day, especially during the legislative session and leading up to it in their research for the legislative session.
01:16:42.880 --> 01:16:44.239
They already have all their priority bills.
01:16:44.479 --> 01:16:50.079
That also means if something does get passed in any way, shape, or form, that they're willing to go to court to fight it.
01:16:50.319 --> 01:16:52.399
But that, again, requires the support of their members.
01:16:52.479 --> 01:16:57.199
And if you would like to become a member and support that mission, you can go to goahhouston.com.
01:16:57.279 --> 01:17:06.159
It's a$25 annual membership,$25 a year, all of which is spent on the lobbying, the campaigning, and the lawsuits, as well as the grassroots information and so much more.
01:17:06.239 --> 01:17:09.279
Again, you can go to GOAHouston.com.
01:17:09.680 --> 01:17:11.920
With that being said, we get back from the break.

01:18:34.880 --> 01:18:41.119
We talk to a lot of people who will literally come up and say, I hate shopping for Medicare plans so much.
01:18:41.359 --> 01:18:42.880
And I'll say, What's happened?
01:18:43.119 --> 01:18:46.399
And they'll say, My gosh, my phone won't stop ringing.
01:18:46.560 --> 01:18:48.560
I've got people showing up at my door.
01:18:48.720 --> 01:18:50.560
My mailbox is full of garbage.
01:18:50.800 --> 01:18:52.079
It's just so unpleasant.
01:18:52.239 --> 01:18:54.239
And I'm like, I get it, and I'm sorry.
01:18:54.479 --> 01:18:55.279
But you know what?
01:18:55.439 --> 01:19:00.479

Welcome back, ladies and gentlemen.
01:21:44.720 --> 01:21:49.680
I'm your host, Michael Wilson, and you're listening to the Lone Star Conservative right here on Patriot Talk 920.
01:21:49.760 --> 01:21:55.920
Joining me now is Captain Dave McCabe with the Sailing Angels Foundation, a Houston area nonprofit, uh doing something that I think is pretty remarkable.
01:21:56.000 --> 01:21:57.199
I'm very excited to get into it.
01:21:57.279 --> 01:22:04.880
Uh they provide free boating and sailing experiences on Clear Lake and Galveston Bay for people with special needs, veterans, military families, first responders, a wide array.
01:22:04.960 --> 01:22:17.439
Uh and coming up Saturday, September 12th, they're holding their annual salute to heroes, honoring our active duty military veterans, first responders, and their loved ones with a huge parade-like cruise through the Kima area, followed by a luncheon.
01:22:17.680 --> 01:22:19.359
So, Captain Dave McCabe, welcome to the show.
01:22:19.439 --> 01:22:21.199
We're very glad to have you on with us this morning.
01:22:21.600 --> 01:22:22.720
Well, thank you very much.
01:22:22.800 --> 01:22:27.920
We're very excited and mostly appreciate all the opportunities that you're providing us.
01:22:28.159 --> 01:22:28.399
Absolutely.
01:22:28.720 --> 01:22:30.479
We'd love to share our service.
01:22:30.800 --> 01:22:31.279
Absolutely.
01:22:31.359 --> 01:22:36.640
And so to kick it off, I actually want to talk a little bit about the organization itself before we get into the event and all this other stuff.
01:22:36.720 --> 01:22:38.720
I want to kind of get a broad overview from you.
01:22:38.800 --> 01:22:43.439
Uh, for somebody listening who has never heard of Sailing Angels, can you kind of give me the story?
01:22:43.600 --> 01:22:49.920
Uh what is Sailing Angels and how did somebody kind of arrive at the idea that taking me out on a boat could become a charitable mission?
01:22:50.560 --> 01:23:05.920
Well, uh, first of all, the uh the organization is a uh nonprofit charitable organization which provides health and wellness support to the vast community of individuals with special needs.
01:23:06.239 --> 01:23:24.319
And that um you can define special needs in your mind, just let your mind there is no one that we can support issues, many, many other issues.
01:24:57.760 --> 01:25:01.760
We offer this uh uh free of charge.
01:25:02.560 --> 01:25:05.920
Three hundred and fifty sixty days a year.
01:25:06.560 --> 01:25:13.119
Um and uh it's up to you as to when and uh when you can do it.
01:25:13.439 --> 01:25:15.520
We're here for everyone.
01:25:17.680 --> 01:25:19.039
Absolutely, and that's that's excellent.
01:25:19.119 --> 01:25:21.520
I want to dig into a little bit of this uh in a little more detail.
01:25:21.600 --> 01:25:25.119
That's a great kind of broad overview, but I want to dive into some of the specifics.
01:25:25.199 --> 01:25:32.800
Uh, because I I think especially reading this on paper, just kind of seeing it, they hear free sailing trip and they might think that it's primarily this more recreation activity, generally speaking.
01:25:33.039 --> 01:25:37.680
But you kind of describe this in terms of health and wellness and even therapeutic benefits.
01:25:37.760 --> 01:25:42.800
Uh, can you walk us through what it is about getting somebody out on the water that seems to have that sort of effect on people?
01:25:43.359 --> 01:26:06.560
Well, for those of you who have been on the beach or on the boat, you're perfectly aware of just how much power the water offers in the form of uh calming effect and the tranquility and serenity, we call it hydrotherapy.
01:26:07.680 --> 01:26:08.800
Very, very calm.
01:26:10.319 --> 01:27:07.199
For those that we hear, we have accommodate individuals like registered uh family, small groups, large groups, and those groups can be up to about seventy people at a time.
01:27:08.159 --> 01:27:11.439
So that's kind of what we're all about.
01:27:12.000 --> 01:27:17.600
An another one of the things that's so striking to me about all of this is I think how wide the mission has grown.
01:27:17.760 --> 01:27:20.800
Uh obviously, there's a lot of people involved in this, right?
01:27:20.880 --> 01:27:29.680
So you're starting to be with physical cognitive challenges, children with illnesses, veterans, first responders, screaming families, domestic violence, you mentioned people dealing with anxiety, at-risk kids.
01:27:29.840 --> 01:27:35.840
How did you kind of grow it to that point and say we want to encompass uh all of these different people and assist them all?
01:27:36.000 --> 01:27:43.760
Um, obviously, you kind of mentioned the hydrotherapy as a version of that, saying, hey, this isn't just good for one group of people, this is good for everybody struggling in in a variety of ways.
01:27:43.840 --> 01:27:44.960
But how did it grow to that point?
01:27:45.119 --> 01:27:49.039
Where did it kind of grow to say, hey, we can encompass so many people?
01:27:49.760 --> 01:27:53.199
We started this back in 2007.
01:27:54.079 --> 01:27:59.439
And uh this charitable work started at that time with one vote, my vote.
01:28:01.840 --> 01:28:06.079
Children with cognitive or physical children.
01:28:07.119 --> 01:28:19.039
And as the years went on, more and more volunteers of both crew stepped up to the plate wanted to help.
01:28:19.760 --> 01:28:26.640
And um then I got involved with the um VI hospital here in Houston.
01:28:27.119 --> 01:28:39.920
And they had some excellent um recovery programs for PDFC, uh and physical and uh otherwise uh facilities.
01:28:40.159 --> 01:28:56.880
And they had special programs for those individuals and um for those in recovery and those that hung in to the end of those sessions typically, I believe it was uh like 15 months.
01:28:58.079 --> 01:29:14.640
For those that hung in to the end were offered the opportunity to have one last opportunity for um tranquility and reflection on the water.
01:29:14.880 --> 01:29:17.760
And that's how they think coming to work.
01:29:18.319 --> 01:29:40.479
And it started with uh a handful of people from the uh VA hospital and expanded um just explained it blue wild and uh these days we serve uh about seven or eight hundred uh individual military and personal sponsors.
01:29:41.279 --> 01:29:43.119
That's quite a quite a deal.
01:29:43.359 --> 01:30:00.000
And that's only limited to the uh the military, but actually we have grown over the years to now we're serving three thousand thirty five hundred or about annually.
01:30:00.880 --> 01:30:03.199
And uh those are individuals.
01:30:07.439 --> 01:30:17.680
Today uh we have served since 2007, we've served about thirty-three thousand plus individuals.
01:30:19.439 --> 01:30:21.520
Which is absolutely incredible, by the way.
01:30:21.760 --> 01:30:26.560
One of the things that I I I kind of wonder about, right, we're serving all these thousands of people.
01:30:26.720 --> 01:30:31.439
When you're talking about numbers that large, I think it certainly can be easy to lose sight of of individual people.
01:30:31.600 --> 01:31:15.359
I was reading some of these testimonials though that you guys have, and I see so many cases where on an individual level, because of course at the at the macro, it sounds excellent, but even down to the individual level, reading through some of these testimonials uh like Tim Stroud, Letitia Fox, right, uh you know, uh all of these different names I'm reading here, I see over and over and over that even on the individual level, there is this individual appreciation and and and and obvious respect for what's happening here that that helps people not just on the will, we serve these thousands of people, because you hear a lot of organizations kind of tout their numbers, but hearing the individual responses to that and how it's affecting them personally, I think is and I'm sure it means the same to you because you obviously do it, is such an incredible thing to hear.
01:31:16.399 --> 01:31:17.600
It's just amazing.
01:31:17.840 --> 01:31:27.039
It's amazing, and uh we have had probably a satisfaction index of better than 99%.
01:31:27.760 --> 01:31:28.079
Wow.
01:31:28.319 --> 01:31:34.319
And that's uh a tribute to the service and those of us that serve them.
01:31:34.720 --> 01:31:47.039
And I say somewhat jokingly, we're never sure who gets more out of this uh service, whether it's those we serve or those who serve them.
01:31:48.880 --> 01:31:50.319
Very, very powerful.
01:31:50.560 --> 01:31:56.239
And you know there is uh no restriction on those that we serve.
01:31:56.479 --> 01:32:05.439
Of course, we have those that are ambulatory, those that have uh special physical challenges or mental challenges.
01:32:06.159 --> 01:32:13.680
We can serve everybody, and in all these years we have never turned away a single individual.
01:32:13.920 --> 01:32:21.039
And uh the most extreme cases have come to us out of the hospital on stretchers.
01:32:22.000 --> 01:32:24.159
So we can handle everyone.
01:32:24.479 --> 01:32:25.279
That's so awesome.
01:32:25.439 --> 01:32:28.720
That also brings us up to the big event you guys coming up have coming up next month.
01:32:28.800 --> 01:32:31.359
That's September 12th, the annual salute to heroes.
01:32:31.520 --> 01:32:34.399
Can you kind of walk me through, paint the picture of September 12th?
01:32:34.479 --> 01:32:38.000
Uh, say I'm standing along the Kiva boardwalk around noon that Saturday.
01:32:38.079 --> 01:32:38.960
What am I gonna see?
01:32:39.039 --> 01:32:40.640
What's the plan for that event?
01:32:41.199 --> 01:32:51.359
Well, this is uh our opportunity to uh provide a special appreciation to the military and first responders.
01:32:51.600 --> 01:32:53.600
We call it our assailing angels.
01:32:54.079 --> 01:32:55.119
Salute to heroes.
01:32:55.279 --> 01:33:34.239
So we do this annually, and uh that starts uh late morning with a boat parade in the Kema area, and we go from um from Clear Lake as the Kema boardwalk out to Galveston Bay, and that's the area in which we have the parade, and then after that, about two hours, uh we offer everybody who participates a complimentary luncheon at the Elk Lodge, and all of the service is free of charge.
01:33:34.399 --> 01:33:35.760
There is nothing.
01:33:36.159 --> 01:33:38.239
All you have to do is show up.
01:33:38.479 --> 01:33:50.640
Now, I must say that we have a limitation of about serving 250, 280 calories for uh loved ones.
01:33:50.960 --> 01:34:00.399
And they will register first come, first serve with that limit of 250 to 280.
01:34:01.119 --> 01:34:08.880
And um the cutoff will be two weeks from now, Wednesday, August 23nd.
01:34:09.520 --> 01:34:12.239
So that's a hard cutoff date.
01:34:12.479 --> 01:34:19.760
And I'll tell you right now that we will have many more registrations than the 250.
01:34:20.479 --> 01:34:22.720
Typically it's more than 300.
01:34:22.960 --> 01:34:33.039
So for those that are interested, um go online and we can talk about the uh online connection in a minute.
01:34:33.359 --> 01:34:37.279
But uh it's important that you register quickly.
01:34:37.840 --> 01:34:38.079
Right.
01:34:38.239 --> 01:34:42.560
Now, one thing I do want to say for our listeners specifically, uh maybe some of them want to get involved.
01:34:42.640 --> 01:34:44.319
They hear all the stuff you're saying, they say that sounds great.
01:34:44.399 --> 01:34:46.079
I this is something that I definitely love to be involved in.
01:34:46.239 --> 01:34:47.920
Maybe they own a boat, maybe they don't.
01:34:48.079 --> 01:34:49.920
Uh, what does getting involved sort of look like?
01:34:50.000 --> 01:34:50.720
How do they go about that?
01:34:50.800 --> 01:34:52.960
That might kind of tie into the online in general.
01:34:53.119 --> 01:34:55.680
How can people go about getting involved with the organization?
01:34:56.159 --> 01:35:11.920
Well, what they do, first of all, is um they register online and they can go to our website which is sailingangels.org or g and uh there's an opportunity there to register.
01:35:12.159 --> 01:35:26.000
And that registration can be as a volunteer or a boat or a participant that just wants to avail themselves of our service.
01:35:26.479 --> 01:35:32.399
And there they specify what their interest is and what their experience is.
01:35:32.640 --> 01:35:47.039
So if there is a uh a person that wants to be a crew member, they'll expand upon what their experience is and how they can best help us with boats, particularly what kind of boat you have.
01:35:47.199 --> 01:36:03.840
And once we receive that information, we will promptly turn around and connect with that person or individuals, and uh we will expand on that and understand exactly how they fit into the organization.
01:36:04.159 --> 01:36:07.600
We haven't turned away anyone who has volunteer.
01:36:07.920 --> 01:36:08.319
Right.
01:36:08.479 --> 01:36:12.079
Now, before I let you go, I want I want to give you the floor just for one more thing.
01:36:12.239 --> 01:36:14.239
Can you give everybody the important information one more time?
01:36:14.319 --> 01:36:15.600
That's September 12th.
01:36:15.680 --> 01:36:21.600
Uh, who you need, how many people can participate, where they should go to sign up, learn more, all that stuff for that particular event.
01:36:22.560 --> 01:36:23.920
September 12th.
01:36:24.079 --> 01:36:27.520
Uh the cutoff is August 26th.
01:36:28.399 --> 01:36:30.960
That's Wednesday, two weeks from now.
01:36:31.520 --> 01:36:37.359
We have a hard limitation of 250 individuals.
01:36:38.000 --> 01:36:47.600
And um they go to our website, Sallyingangels.org, and register there.
01:36:47.920 --> 01:36:48.399
Excellent.
01:36:48.479 --> 01:36:59.680
Well, Captain Dave McCabe, thank you so much for coming on, giving us your time this morning, but more importantly, uh for being a part of this very important work to bring this joy, this tranquility, this hydrotherapy to people uh who need it most.
01:36:59.760 --> 01:37:03.359
We appreciate everything you do, and thanks so much for giving us your time this morning.
01:37:03.760 --> 01:37:06.159
Thank you very much for the opportunity, Michael.
01:37:06.319 --> 01:37:07.199
Most appreciate it.
01:37:07.359 --> 01:37:07.600
Absolutely.
01:37:07.920 --> 01:37:11.039
And we look forward to seeing many of your listeners.
01:37:11.359 --> 01:37:12.079
Absolutely.
01:37:12.239 --> 01:37:16.640
With that being said, one more time, that is the Sailing Angels Foundation's 2026 salute to Heroes.
01:37:16.720 --> 01:37:19.439
That is Saturday, September 12th in the Kima area.
01:37:19.520 --> 01:37:20.319
The boats are expected.
01:37:20.880 --> 01:37:24.560
I think the event starts at 11 o'clock, so late morning, those event those boats start coming through.
01:37:24.640 --> 01:37:25.760
They have a parade like cruise.
01:37:25.840 --> 01:37:31.840
250 people are able to attend, veterans, active duty military, you know, first responders, police, firefighters.
01:37:32.000 --> 01:37:37.520
Uh, that means if you're looking to volunteer, maybe you're not one of those, but you could be a boat captain, a crew member, a volunteer, community supporters.
01:37:37.680 --> 01:37:40.640
They need all of that to make events like this happen.
01:37:40.800 --> 01:37:45.920
You can go to sailingangels.org to learn more information in all those different aspects.
01:37:46.159 --> 01:37:48.319
And we appreciate all the work that they do.
01:37:48.479 --> 01:38:01.920
With that being said, to wrap up the show, when we get back, we're going to come and we're going to talk about the USDA and some work they're doing down on the border to deal with the New World Screwworm and some ex this expansion of a lot of their border surveillance in that regard.
01:38:02.079 --> 01:38:02.720
So stick around.
01:38:02.800 --> 01:38:04.399
You're listening to Lone Star Conservative.
01:38:04.479 --> 01:38:08.159
Text in at 713-779-5978.

01:38:12.399 --> 01:38:18.319
I'm your host, Michael Wilson, and Lord willing me right back to wrap up the show after this final very short break.
01:38:18.399 --> 01:38:19.279
So stick around.
01:38:19.359 --> 01:38:20.239
Don't go anywhere.
01:38:20.319 --> 01:38:22.560
Hang tight, and we'll be right back.
01:38:24.640 --> 01:38:27.760
Have you thought about buying a gun or even carrying a gun?
01:38:27.840 --> 01:38:30.479
But you don't know if that's smart or where to start.

01:42:39.520 --> 01:42:39.760
U.S.
01:42:39.920 --> 01:42:50.319
Secretary of Agriculture Brooke Rollins and Customs and Border Protection Commissioner Rodney Scott visited McAllen two days ago to review the implementation of new technology to combat the New World Screwworm.
01:42:50.479 --> 01:43:02.079
Which, if you have not been kept up to date by this show or others, that the New World Screwworm is a parasitic fly whose females lay eggs in open wounds or body openings of warm-blooded animals.
01:43:02.239 --> 01:43:06.960
And once hatched, the larva burrow into and feed on living tissue.
01:43:07.520 --> 01:43:15.760
And so uh the rapid response team said Secretary Rollins is reviewing the technology supporting one of the most extensive animal health surveillance operations in the country.
01:43:16.079 --> 01:43:21.600
USDA has partnered with the Customs of Border Protection to use aerial assets to survey livestock for signs of neuroscrew.
01:43:21.920 --> 01:43:30.479
The Department of Agriculture now has access to 200 drones, who've conducted more than 1,000 flights and surveyed 22,000 animals for signs of infection.
01:43:30.640 --> 01:43:34.479
Animals flagged as potential risks, receive follow-up inspections for signs of infestation.
01:43:34.640 --> 01:43:43.199
USDA also has access to more than 100 trail cameras, has made more than 26,000 wildlife observations, and has deployed more than 8,000 insect traps.
01:43:43.439 --> 01:43:55.600
And so Rollins on X wrote, Today's new agreement means greater coordination, better information sharing, and more advanced drone surveillance along our southern border, all to detect threats sooner and better protect American livestock.
01:43:55.760 --> 01:44:00.399
Rollins also announced that USDA is cracking down on illicit livestock movements to help prevent the parasites spread.
01:44:00.479 --> 01:44:09.279
Quote, our plan strengthens frontline defenses, expands accountability in Mexico and Central America, and improves coordination with federal, state, and tribal enforcement partners.
01:44:09.600 --> 01:44:19.039
And so they have a sterile fly manufacturing facility that's going to open seven seven months early in spring of next year and produce 300 million sterile flies per week by the end of 2028.
01:44:19.199 --> 01:44:22.800
But my question goes right back again, because obviously this is a good thing.
01:44:26.560 --> 01:44:27.760
And there's a lot of problems.
01:44:27.920 --> 01:44:34.399
And we can talk all about the background of the Biden administration and how this was allowed through mass migration to come back into our country in the first place.
01:44:34.720 --> 01:44:39.520
And another reminder to the leftists that it's not just the illegal immigrants that are coming.
01:44:39.840 --> 01:44:43.039
Why the heck can we not do this with the mosquitoes?
01:44:43.199 --> 01:44:44.800
Can we can we please figure something?
01:44:45.039 --> 01:44:46.560
I'm I for the love of everything.
01:44:46.720 --> 01:44:49.039
Can we please somebody, I don't even care.
01:44:49.199 --> 01:44:50.560
Give Bill Gate, I don't care.
01:44:50.640 --> 01:44:53.920
Give somebody the funding and the resources to go out.
01:44:54.079 --> 01:45:02.000
I I I went outside earlier, and it is just a catastrophic amount of of the worst creatures that have ever been created.
01:45:02.079 --> 01:45:06.720
The fall of man created mosquitoes and their disgusting, evil, snipey little creatures.
01:45:06.880 --> 01:45:10.000
Um I I I would rather have the New World's crewer than mosquitoes.
01:45:10.159 --> 01:45:11.359
That'll do for the show today.
01:45:11.520 --> 01:45:13.039
Thanks everyone for tuning in.
01:45:13.119 --> 01:45:14.800
It's been an absolute pleasure to be with you.
01:45:14.960 --> 01:45:17.119
Lord will be back bright and early tomorrow.
01:45:17.279 --> 01:45:21.279
In the meantime, I would encourage everyone to enjoy the rest of your Wednesday.
01:45:21.359 --> 01:45:25.359
And as always, ladies and gentlemen, Godspeed as you go about your day.
01:45:25.520 --> 01:45:26.479
Godspeed.
