00:00:01.199 --> 00:00:08.560
But if a team can have this kind of culture in mind, hey, let's take care of ourselves for the benefit of everybody else.
00:00:09.279 --> 00:00:18.000
Let's let's do let's do the things that fill our tank for the benefit of others, so that we can bring our best and offer that to others.
00:00:18.079 --> 00:00:29.839
When I when a team has that kind of culture in mind, then what we do is we start prioritizing our own personal well-being so that we can bring our best to others.
00:00:30.000 --> 00:00:36.399
And you can guess, I mean, if if you had you were on a team like that, you can guess what is going to happen to productivity.
00:00:36.560 --> 00:00:40.240
You can guess what's going to happen to efficiency.
00:00:40.399 --> 00:00:43.119
You can guess what's going to happen to effectiveness.
00:00:43.280 --> 00:00:50.880
All those things are going to arise when we're taking care of ourselves so that others will benefit from who we are and what we're doing.
00:00:51.200 --> 00:00:54.000
Hey friends, welcome to the Success and Focus podcast.
00:00:54.079 --> 00:01:00.159
My name is Danny Salazar, and in today's episode will be uh a discussion with my friend Mitch Harrison.
00:01:00.399 --> 00:01:25.920
Um, just to let you guys know, this episode will be very more spiritually inclined, but I recommend to stick around, watch the episode, because a lot of the points that we'll talk about today is about replenishment and how to get out of this rut of burnout when we are doing so much and trying to get our businesses going, organizations going, on top of that, family life and all these things.
00:01:26.159 --> 00:01:29.200
The advice that Mitch brings is so valuable.
00:01:29.280 --> 00:01:38.799
That way you can actually find balance in your life, that way you can be a better person and you can just operate as a better professional as well.
00:01:38.879 --> 00:01:41.519
Too enjoy the conversation.
00:01:44.480 --> 00:01:46.640
Yeah, hey Danny, thanks for having me on.
00:01:46.799 --> 00:01:48.719
Uh, my name is Mitch Harrison.
00:01:48.799 --> 00:01:52.079
Uh, I am the founder of Refill Coaching.
00:01:52.239 --> 00:01:59.040
It's a coaching consulting practice that I set up to help people specifically with the issue of burnout and replenishment.
00:01:59.200 --> 00:02:07.280
Uh, just realizing that all of us need to be able to have the energy to have all the stuff in us to be able to show up at our best.
00:02:07.519 --> 00:02:09.599
And we don't always know how to do that.
00:02:09.759 --> 00:02:13.599
We don't always know how to keep our tank full so that we can show up at our very best.
00:02:13.840 --> 00:02:20.240
And uh, so I started doing that out of years and years and years of working in the church, uh, working in houses of worship.
00:02:20.319 --> 00:02:26.240
Uh, I was the executive pastor of a church here in Las Vegas for a lot of years, where Danny and I met and got to work together some.
00:02:26.719 --> 00:02:44.400
And uh yeah, just uh from some of the experiences I had there, began to learn more and more of what it took to keep myself uh healthy and replenished and at my best so that I could show up and offer uh uh the best of myself to others and the things that uh that they're wanting to do.
00:02:44.560 --> 00:02:48.319
So so that's how this kind of all got going and and how we got to know each other.
00:02:48.560 --> 00:02:49.520
That's awesome, man.
00:02:49.680 --> 00:02:51.840
And just to brag about you a little bit, right?
00:02:52.000 --> 00:02:57.840
Because um, man, when I first met you, it was during an interview process, right?
00:02:58.080 --> 00:03:08.159
And um it was my first time stepping in back into ministry, and I had some hesitancy, you know, because I'm like, oh man, like I already know how ministry works out.
00:03:08.240 --> 00:03:12.639
Like I have to wear multiple hats and had to be extra flexible and whatnot.
00:03:12.879 --> 00:03:20.000
But man, um, I'm glad that I was able to take the job on and and work alongside with you, Mitch.
00:03:20.240 --> 00:03:25.599
And um, man, it was just a great place to discover what replenishment looked like.
00:03:25.840 --> 00:03:32.960
And you taught us, you taught the staff, um, and you still teach, you know, the staff from time to time as well, too, right?
00:03:33.199 --> 00:03:36.560
But uh, you just taught us to like really just pause and reflect.
00:03:36.800 --> 00:03:43.680
And that was so rare for me because I was always in the mindset of like, go, go, go, go, go.
00:03:43.759 --> 00:03:45.759
Like, I need to do more for God's kingdom.
00:03:45.840 --> 00:03:51.599
I need to do uh more creative stuff so I can uh keep others happy and at bay, you know.
00:03:51.759 --> 00:03:59.840
But once I realize um when you reach a burnout limit, it's just like, what the heck am I?
00:04:00.000 --> 00:04:00.719
Like, who am I?
00:04:00.879 --> 00:04:03.120
You know, you kind of lose your identity, right?
00:04:03.360 --> 00:04:13.919
So um I'm just thankful for you that you were able to just kind of like, you know, steer me back and just like, hey, yo, dude, these are the steps for replenishment.
00:04:14.159 --> 00:04:26.720
Because um if if you're a better, uh if you can be better at replenishing yourself, like you can be a better dad, you can be a better, you know, brother, friend, you know, coworker, business owner, whatever, right?
00:04:26.800 --> 00:04:28.480
So, you know, props to you.
00:04:28.639 --> 00:04:31.199
Um, just just wanted to brag on you a little bit about that.
00:04:31.360 --> 00:04:33.120
So well, thanks, Dan.
00:04:33.360 --> 00:04:54.319
And I I gotta know, and you I think you know this, that that whole like line of thought for me, that whole idea of having to learn how to take care of yourself, uh, man, that came from years and years of me not taking care of myself very well and having to learn the hard way that when you ignore that, man, there is a price to pay.
00:04:54.639 --> 00:04:57.439
And uh, you know, I you know the story, man.
00:04:57.600 --> 00:05:03.759
I uh uh, you know, a couple of different times I found myself on the on the business end of burnout.
00:05:03.920 --> 00:05:13.920
And one of them was kind of a funny thing when I was uh when I was running a half marathon through Vegas, you know, they do this, that one that they do here every year, you know.
00:05:14.160 --> 00:05:17.439
And man, I was doing I was doing great running this half marathon.
00:05:17.519 --> 00:05:18.720
I'd run a bunch of them before.
00:05:18.879 --> 00:05:21.920
This was gonna be like my personal record, best time.
00:05:22.079 --> 00:05:27.040
And I just totally bombed out at mile 11, you know, right before the finish line.
00:05:27.120 --> 00:05:31.600
I mean, I could see the finish line right down the road, and and I just totally bombed out.
00:05:31.680 --> 00:05:34.560
And the reason that happened was because I didn't eat right.
00:05:34.720 --> 00:05:39.040
Like I looked back and I realized, oh man, I had not been fueling the machine properly.
00:05:39.199 --> 00:05:43.439
And all of a sudden, your body runs out of gas and it will not go anymore.
00:05:43.519 --> 00:05:46.879
It just full shut off, like right there in the middle of the street.
00:05:47.199 --> 00:05:51.439
And, you know, I thought, man, I I should never do that to myself again.
00:05:51.680 --> 00:06:02.800
But the problem was I did, I was doing the exact thing, I was doing that exact thing to myself at work where I was just going and going and not replenishing myself enough.
00:06:03.120 --> 00:06:08.240
And you you could have predicted where that was gonna, if you'd have looked at my life, you could have predicted where that was gonna end up.
00:06:08.319 --> 00:06:18.399
You know, too much like the race, too much stress, too much going, not enough taking the time to fuel the machine properly, to fuel my soul properly.
00:06:18.720 --> 00:06:22.160
And uh, you could have predicted that I was gonna burn out, and I did.
00:06:22.319 --> 00:06:26.480
And had it took me a while to recover and had to learn some things along the way.
00:06:26.639 --> 00:06:38.560
And I think it was from those learning experiences that I began to think, man, this is I think this is something that we all need because nobody really teaches us how to do this, and but everybody expects us to do it.
00:06:38.800 --> 00:06:49.680
And so maybe I should maybe I should learn something about how to do this, and then once I uh once I kind of got a basic framework together, then it began asking how can I share some of this with other people too.
00:06:49.839 --> 00:06:51.600
So that's so good.
00:06:51.759 --> 00:06:56.160
Um, our first question is uh how does burnout limit our effectiveness?
00:06:56.319 --> 00:07:02.959
You know, you just you just talked about that with yeah with uh your marathon and how like you were just completely gassed out.
00:07:03.199 --> 00:07:08.879
So um how how does that burnout just uh completely ruin things for us?
00:07:09.199 --> 00:07:09.600
Sure.
00:07:09.759 --> 00:07:17.600
Yeah, I and I think most of the time what what we're experiencing is burned down and not necessarily complete burnout.
00:07:17.759 --> 00:07:28.639
And and that might be the problem because we can live at an acceptable level of burn down and go, well, I'm not burned out, so I can keep going, so I'll just keep going.
00:07:28.879 --> 00:07:33.199
But the problem is we're not bringing our very best to the table.
00:07:33.439 --> 00:07:41.279
And so I ask people, I do this workshop thing around this topic, and I ask people, hey, you know, what do you look like when you were at your best?
00:07:41.759 --> 00:07:57.839
You know, if you had to describe yourself when you were at your best, and people always say things like, Man, I'm I'm positive, I'm optimistic, I'm patient, I'm much more compassionate with other people, um, I'm more focused, more visionary, more engaged.
00:07:57.920 --> 00:08:02.240
You know, they start describing all these great qualities that they have.
00:08:02.560 --> 00:08:20.639
And I say, okay, if if that's you, when you're like an eight or a nine or a ten, you know, on a scale of one to ten, and say today your number is like a four, like you're you're gassed out to about a four, you could probably keep going and make it to the end of the week, but are you bringing all of those best qualities to bear?
00:08:20.879 --> 00:08:25.040
You know, you're probably bringing somewhere south of all of those best qualities.
00:08:25.279 --> 00:08:35.519
And what's what's happening the farther we drift away from that eight, nine, or a 10, you know, of those best qualities is that we're losing capacity for work.
00:08:35.759 --> 00:08:37.919
We're losing capacity for relationships.
00:08:38.000 --> 00:08:44.480
We're just not the same person when we're at a five or a six as we are when we're at an eight or a nine.
00:08:44.639 --> 00:08:49.840
You know, when our tank is depleted to a two or a three, we're certainly not the same person.
00:08:49.919 --> 00:09:12.000
Because you ask somebody what they're like when they're a two or a three, they're like, oh my gosh, I'm uh I'm grumpy, I'm, you know, got brain fog, I'm I'm sluggish, I'm lethargic, I'm, you know, and you're they're describing this person that does not have the same capacity as the person who is an eight or a nine who's focused and patient and all those things, right?
00:09:12.559 --> 00:09:21.440
And so we live in this kind of middle ground a lot of times of burn down, and it just diminishes our capacity to bring our best to the table.
00:09:21.679 --> 00:09:35.279
And I I will say this uh I've I've done this exercise with a lot of church staffs along the way, including our, including our own great people committed to showing up at their best, you know, and and trying to bring the best to the table.
00:09:35.600 --> 00:09:42.720
And we average out everybody's number, it's usually like a five or a six on the scale of one to ten, you know.
00:09:43.200 --> 00:09:54.480
And the thing I like to point out is, hey, you know, we in we in the church stand up every weekend and we tell everybody that an eight or a nine or a ten is possible.
00:09:54.720 --> 00:10:10.080
That it's possible to be a person who's joyful and peaceful and patient and kind and good and faithful as we just lean into the Holy Spirit and let and walk and step with the Spirit and let the Spirit guide us and let the Spirit fill us that we can be all of those great qualities.
00:10:10.159 --> 00:10:19.840
We sell an eight or a nine or a ten every weekend on stage, but yet we're experiencing a four or a five or a three, you know, in our everyday life.
00:10:20.080 --> 00:10:22.159
And I think that I think that's kind of a problem.
00:10:22.240 --> 00:10:33.679
I think it's limiting the redemptive capacity of our churches when we're telling everybody that a nine is possible, that that that kind of life is possible, but we're living something, something south of that.
00:10:34.159 --> 00:10:37.919
Man, I think you're stepping on some toes there, but they they need to be stepped on.
00:10:38.000 --> 00:10:39.519
That's some good stuff there.
00:10:39.840 --> 00:10:41.759
Well, listen, I I lived in that, man.
00:10:41.840 --> 00:10:48.799
I was just as guilty as everybody else, you know, and and you know, you we do it for all the right reasons, don't we?
00:10:49.120 --> 00:11:01.200
I mean, like you were saying, man, we're serving the kingdom, we're honoring God, we're trying to give our best, but we we buy this idea that if we're not a little bit burned out, we're probably not working hard enough.
00:11:02.720 --> 00:11:16.799
And then we so we accept a little bit of burnout in our work all the time, because we have this idea that if we're not experiencing that, we're probably not we're not probably not working hard enough when when maybe there's a different way.
00:11:17.039 --> 00:11:18.320
Maybe there's a different way.
00:11:18.799 --> 00:11:19.279
Wow.
00:11:19.440 --> 00:11:19.840
Wow.
00:11:20.080 --> 00:11:26.240
And um our next question is what what difference does a culture of replenishment make in a team?
00:11:26.879 --> 00:11:39.840
Yeah, well, I think you know, you can probably see that if you have a team that is got a different kind of framework in mind than if you're not a little burned out, you you're not working hard enough.
00:11:39.919 --> 00:11:57.519
If you've got a team whose whole mindset is shifted in in this direction, instead of saying, Hey, uh, you know, self self-indulgence is just us taking care of ourselves to the ex we're just gonna take care of ourselves to the exclusion of other people.
00:11:57.679 --> 00:12:03.519
We're just gonna be all about us and what makes us feel good and make sure we're doing fine and you know, forget everybody else.
00:12:03.600 --> 00:12:07.279
Like, like that's not a great culture for a team to have because that's just selfish.
00:12:07.440 --> 00:12:10.159
We're doing great, never mind everybody else, right?
00:12:10.480 --> 00:12:18.320
But if a team can have this kind of culture in mind, hey, let's take care of ourselves for the benefit of everybody else.
00:12:18.639 --> 00:12:27.440
Let's let's do let's do the things that fill our tank for the best benefit of others, so that we can bring our best and offer that to others.
00:12:27.519 --> 00:12:39.279
When I when a team has that kind of culture in mind, then what we do is we start prioritizing our own personal well-being so that we can bring our best to others.
00:12:39.440 --> 00:12:45.840
And you can guess, I mean, if you if you had you were on a team like that, you can guess what is gonna happen to productivity.
00:12:46.000 --> 00:12:52.559
You can guess what's gonna happen to to efficiency, you can guess what's gonna happen to effectiveness.
00:12:52.799 --> 00:13:00.159
All those things are gonna arise when we're taking care of ourselves so that others will benefit from from who we are and what we're doing.
00:13:00.480 --> 00:13:01.279
That's so true.
00:13:01.440 --> 00:13:05.679
I remember um being at at the church that we were at, right?
00:13:05.759 --> 00:13:14.000
Where um I I was being held accountable to make sure that I was making sure that I was taking my vacation time, my PTO time, right?
00:13:14.240 --> 00:13:17.840
And then I saw that even replicated in other departments as well, too.
00:13:17.919 --> 00:13:22.639
Whereas it's like, hey, when you're taking your vacation, or like, hey, when are you taking your PTO?
00:13:23.120 --> 00:13:34.159
And uh honestly, that was very rare for me to see because usually, you know, your employer just wants you to just always be cranking, you know, like always be on, you know, do this, do that.
00:13:34.240 --> 00:13:36.879
You know, there's always so many things to do.
00:13:36.960 --> 00:13:41.440
There's uh a huge to-do list to do in in companies and organizations, right?
00:13:41.759 --> 00:13:51.519
But um, it means a lot when when your leadership is telling you, hey, you need to go rest, or hey, you need to, you need to actually take some time off and go spend time with your family.
00:13:51.600 --> 00:13:57.840
Um, and then even experiencing um prayer and fasting days on a church staff.
00:13:57.919 --> 00:14:02.879
That was, you know, oddly enough, that was like the first time I've ever experienced that on a church staff.
00:14:02.960 --> 00:14:05.120
And I and I've worked at a church staff before.
00:14:05.360 --> 00:14:07.679
And um, that was that was great.
00:14:07.759 --> 00:14:12.559
I know other organizations they might call it like mental health days and stuff like that, which is great, right?
00:14:12.879 --> 00:14:27.919
But um taking the time to like actually like reset and like get your your brain figured out and and and then even on the spiritual sense of things too, like connecting with God and making sure that like you know you still have that direct line with Him.
00:14:28.000 --> 00:14:34.799
That way you can show up better, not not only physically, but uh spiritually, mentally, emotionally, all those things.
00:14:34.879 --> 00:14:50.000
So I'm I'm really grateful for for uh you being a part of that culture there because um I'm able to honestly copy and paste that within my my own organization, my own business now, and even with my family as well, too.
00:14:50.080 --> 00:14:56.480
Where I'm like, all right, you know, I tell my wife Cindy, hey, you need to take a prayer and fasting day.
00:14:56.799 --> 00:15:05.039
I know you need it, you know, that way like you can go and and and connect and and get away from the kids and even myself too, because that can be pretty annoying.
00:15:05.200 --> 00:15:10.799
Um, that way you can replenish and just like find find joy again, you know.
00:15:10.960 --> 00:15:12.399
So yeah.
00:15:12.639 --> 00:15:32.480
Well, and you know, and I think um, you know, for those of us who follow Jesus, this is one of the places where we need to follow Jesus into because Jesus himself took time away, he took time he pulled aside to rest, he pulled aside to pray, he pulled aside to take time with his father.
00:15:32.639 --> 00:15:40.320
He understood that in his human condition there were limitations that he was saddled with because of the human condition.
00:15:40.960 --> 00:15:53.200
And uh, you know, that that's a part of following Jesus that oftentimes those of us who are who are in the ministry don't consider is that we need to follow Jesus in that way too.
00:15:53.440 --> 00:16:06.960
We need to model follow his example and follow his modeling to us that hey, when you're as long as you are in this physical body, there are gonna be limitations that that come with that, and we need to honor those.
00:16:07.120 --> 00:16:09.200
You know, sleep is one of those limitations.
00:16:09.440 --> 00:16:19.039
Um, I found out recently you will actually physiologically die sooner from lack of sleep than you would from a lack of food.
00:16:19.519 --> 00:16:20.000
Wow.
00:16:20.480 --> 00:16:21.120
That's crazy.
00:16:21.440 --> 00:16:33.600
They somewhere in the neighborhood of 14 to 17 days, maybe 21 days, you can go without food, but you can't you can only go about seven to nine days without sleep, and then you will it will kill you.
00:16:33.840 --> 00:16:39.919
You know, that ought to tell us something about the limitations that are baked into our physical systems.
00:16:40.159 --> 00:16:46.320
That you know, the fact that our body kind of almost involuntarily knocks us unconscious every single day.
00:16:46.559 --> 00:16:51.279
I mean, that ought to tell us something that about how God designed us and how God created us.
00:16:51.440 --> 00:17:18.480
And I just really believe that those limitations are a great vehicle for us to learn a deep dependence on God so that we can make sure our tank is full from the right source, from our trust in God, from our relationship with Him, from drawing on the strength that He gives us, from listening to Him saying, Look, you you take his nap, you take get some sleep, you take it, take a let me run the show for you.
00:17:18.640 --> 00:17:28.240
I mean, that's what the whole Sabbath thing is about, is about us learning to trust God to run the world for a while so that we don't have to.
00:17:28.559 --> 00:17:33.519
And uh it's it's all about us following that example of Jesus into doing that.
00:17:34.079 --> 00:17:34.720
That's great.
00:17:35.200 --> 00:17:39.119
Now uh many are talking about the need for like work and life balance.
00:17:39.359 --> 00:17:41.680
Is this the right thing to focus on?
00:17:42.640 --> 00:17:47.680
Yeah, you know, um I you we hear that term a lot, and I understand the spirit of it.
00:17:47.839 --> 00:17:52.640
What what people are saying is man, work can be draining and depleting to you.
00:17:52.720 --> 00:18:06.720
So you need some time in the things that fill you in your life, you know, your your relationship with your spouse, with your kids, your relationship with good friends, you you know, times to have you know fun and to enjoy life and those kind of things.
00:18:07.279 --> 00:18:17.440
But here's what I found about the work-life balance issue uh there is are oftentimes as much stress from our life as there is from our work.
00:18:18.480 --> 00:18:27.039
Uh just as an example, um, in in one really challenging season of leadership at the church, uh my wife came down with breast cancer.
00:18:27.680 --> 00:18:29.839
And now, now where was the stress coming from?
00:18:29.920 --> 00:18:31.359
Now where were the demands coming from?
00:18:31.440 --> 00:18:36.799
We had more stress on us in the things that were happening in our life than the things that were happening at work.
00:18:36.960 --> 00:18:40.960
And I will tell you, at that during that season, the work was pretty challenging too.
00:18:41.279 --> 00:18:47.440
So work and life comes with its stresses, with its demands, with its depleting things.
00:18:47.759 --> 00:18:56.720
And we need to take all of that, all of the stresses, all of the demands from our work and our life, and balance those with the replenishment that we need.
00:18:56.960 --> 00:19:02.240
I I advocate for instead of work-life balance, that we look at a stress replenishment balance.
00:19:02.480 --> 00:19:18.880
Look at the stress that you have, you're experiencing that's generated by the job that you have, by your family situation, um, by your stage of life, by the stage of life of your kids, by all of the things that are part of your set of responsibilities and demands.
00:19:19.200 --> 00:19:25.279
Take all of that stress that you have and match that, balance that with the replenishment that you need.
00:19:25.519 --> 00:19:35.039
Because all of those things are demanding something of you and requiring something of you and depleting something from you, it needs to be matched with the kind of replenishment that puts it all back in the tank.
00:19:35.200 --> 00:19:41.039
So the stress replenishment balance, I think is the thing that matters more than the work-life balance.
00:19:41.119 --> 00:19:46.559
It's I think it's a better framework to look at to say, man, I just got a new job promotion.
00:19:46.720 --> 00:19:50.079
My new job comes with new demands, new responsibilities, new stresses.
00:19:50.160 --> 00:19:51.599
I just changed my careers.
00:19:51.759 --> 00:19:56.319
I it went from a paycheck every week to picking up paychecks where the work comes.
00:19:56.559 --> 00:20:11.440
I maybe I just added a new child to our family, or I just got married, or you know, what whatever the change of situation might be, and then ask, Am I matching that change of demand with the kind of replenishment that I need?
00:20:11.680 --> 00:20:13.839
I never accounted for that in my work.
00:20:14.079 --> 00:20:20.720
Man, I stepped into the executive pastor role at the church and I had no idea the new demands that were going to be on me.
00:20:20.960 --> 00:20:31.039
But as I experienced them and learned what they were, I didn't ask the question, what do I need now in terms of replenishment that I didn't need before based on this new challenge?
00:20:31.279 --> 00:20:34.720
And uh it it that's what ended me up in burnout.
00:20:34.799 --> 00:20:39.200
Um so I think stress replenishment balance is the better thing to pay attention to.
00:20:39.680 --> 00:20:40.720
That's so good.
00:20:40.960 --> 00:20:44.160
Um what what does that look like for you now?
00:20:44.319 --> 00:20:50.319
Like um what what what does replenishment look for you, you know, if you don't mind mind sharing?
00:20:50.720 --> 00:20:51.839
Yeah, absolutely.
00:20:52.079 --> 00:20:54.880
Um, well, as you know, I've stepped away from my role.
00:20:54.960 --> 00:20:59.599
Uh my day-to-day role is executive pastor at the church now, and I'm full-time doing consulting.
00:20:59.759 --> 00:21:06.640
I still do some consulting work with the church and some there, but my work is in a lot of different places doing a doing a lot of different kinds of things.
00:21:06.720 --> 00:21:08.640
So it's very different uh these days.
00:21:08.880 --> 00:21:17.599
But what I found in, and this is what I teach in my workshops also, is that we all need the same five things at least.
00:21:18.160 --> 00:21:22.240
We may need more things than this, but there's five things that we all need at least.
00:21:22.400 --> 00:21:25.200
Uh and the and research, I'm telling you, has confirmed this.
00:21:25.279 --> 00:21:41.279
People from everybody from Harvard Business Review to Psychology Today to this pages of scripture validate that these are five things that we all seem uh to need to pay close attention to if we're gonna build a plan for replenishment that will match the demands that we have.
00:21:41.519 --> 00:21:43.279
The first is obviously rest.
00:21:44.000 --> 00:21:46.880
Uh, we need to find times to rest from our work.
00:21:47.039 --> 00:21:53.119
Now, we we believers in Jesus are are familiar with that in the terms in terms of Sabbath and that kind of thing.
00:21:54.720 --> 00:21:59.599
But what we need to understand is that we need to be very conscious of.
00:22:00.160 --> 00:22:02.960
Times that we are on and times that we are off.
00:22:03.680 --> 00:22:05.839
Like when am I on and working?
00:22:06.000 --> 00:22:08.559
When am I off and not working?
00:22:08.880 --> 00:22:16.960
And the problem that we have is that these little devices right here have blurred all the lines between work and not work.
00:22:17.200 --> 00:22:20.880
These right here keep us kind of on all the time.
00:22:20.960 --> 00:22:21.119
Yeah.
00:22:21.359 --> 00:22:24.880
Instead of taking times to just shut it down and stop working.
00:22:25.039 --> 00:22:33.039
So we need identified times, clearly identified times when we put brackets around it and say, this is my no work zone.
00:22:33.200 --> 00:22:36.799
This is put the orange cones up and say this is a no work zone.
00:22:36.880 --> 00:22:39.680
And any work I'm going to do will have to be someplace else.
00:22:39.920 --> 00:22:42.000
So finding those periods of Sabbath.
00:22:42.319 --> 00:22:51.119
Um maybe, you know, for people that work uh in in church world, man, how do you do that when Sabbath for most people is a work day for you?
00:22:51.440 --> 00:22:53.359
Well, you have to find other periods of time.
00:22:53.519 --> 00:22:58.640
So Saturday, you know, Saturdays, maybe Saturday becomes your your Sabbath, which was the Sabbath to start with.
00:22:58.799 --> 00:23:03.759
Um maybe it's like Monday morning or another day off or another afternoon off.
00:23:03.839 --> 00:23:07.599
But when are the identified periods of time that you take time off to rest?
00:23:07.920 --> 00:23:08.799
That's the first thing.
00:23:09.039 --> 00:23:11.519
Second thing is I think we need what I call release.
00:23:11.680 --> 00:23:16.000
And this is where we find some relief from the emotional things that we carry.
00:23:16.240 --> 00:23:26.079
Um, challenges come up, concerns about our kids, the pressures of making a living, the challenges of running a business and making decisions that are going to affect other people's lives.
00:23:26.240 --> 00:23:30.640
We care, these all create an emotional weight that we carry around.
00:23:30.880 --> 00:23:40.000
And then there's other things that create emotional heat, things that make us mad, things that tick us off, things that happen that we're like, man, that is not the way that it should be.
00:23:40.079 --> 00:23:41.359
And they just make us mad.
00:23:41.519 --> 00:23:41.839
Yeah.
00:23:42.000 --> 00:23:48.240
Um, people cheating on us, people lying to us, people stealing from us, people, you know, cutting us off in traffic.
00:23:48.400 --> 00:23:50.559
I mean, just simple things sometimes.
00:23:50.720 --> 00:24:00.720
But those things that make us heavy, that we carry heavily, like anxiety and sadness, things that we carry hot, like anger, we need some emotional relief from.
00:24:00.799 --> 00:24:17.759
And we find that emotional relief in conversation with other people who are trusted friends, advisors, mentors, sometimes just, you know, just listening ears that we can sit with and unpack the emotionally heavy things that we're carrying.
00:24:18.079 --> 00:24:33.200
And so we we all need what I call this emotional release to times where we can get with somebody that we know cares deeply about us and is just a good listener, and can listen to us as we answer the question, what am I carrying right now?
00:24:34.160 --> 00:24:35.920
So we need rest, we need release.
00:24:36.000 --> 00:24:41.440
The third thing we need is I think is we need, and that I need too, is what I call receive.
00:24:41.759 --> 00:24:49.440
And these are periods where I believe we are receiving again inspiration around our sense of purpose.
00:24:49.680 --> 00:25:01.200
In other words, times when we get re-inspired about the God-given purpose for our life, where we not just know what our purpose is and we kind of go, yeah, I know I'm supposed to be serving God.
00:25:01.279 --> 00:25:10.240
Yeah, I know I'm supposed to be, you know, doing this, but we we again catch like we let God fan that back into flame for us.
00:25:10.799 --> 00:25:20.559
That sense of personal inner fire about the things people call it passion, you know, people call it whatever they call it.
00:25:21.039 --> 00:25:32.240
But that's but I believe, especially for people that work in the ministry, uh, for people that are in helping professions like medical and nursing, teachers are certainly in need of this.
00:25:32.480 --> 00:25:40.240
Those times were for those kind of roles that are passion-driven, and I think most people's role needs to be passion-driven.
00:25:40.319 --> 00:25:44.720
I've seen bus drivers who drive the bus with a passion, right?
00:25:44.880 --> 00:25:51.279
Who who see every person that gets on their bus as an opportunity to make their day better, right?
00:25:51.440 --> 00:25:54.400
They found purpose and meaning in in the work that they do.
00:25:54.640 --> 00:25:57.920
We need to have that reignited on a regular basis.
00:25:58.160 --> 00:26:01.920
Um it will that fire will not stay lit on its own.
00:26:02.319 --> 00:26:04.799
Just like any fire will burn out if you don't tend it.
00:26:04.880 --> 00:26:13.599
This fire that's inside of us to make meaningful effort and meaningful contribution to the world, it will not stay lit on its own.
00:26:13.759 --> 00:26:14.960
We have to have places that we go to.
00:26:15.119 --> 00:26:16.720
Certainly, going to church helps us do that.
00:26:16.799 --> 00:26:22.319
Certainly, our our the time that we spend with God on a daily basis or regular basis should help us to do that.
00:26:22.480 --> 00:26:24.559
Time in scripture can help us to do that.
00:26:24.720 --> 00:26:33.839
Uh, but also things like reading books, you know, great leadership biographies of great leaders, um, or just inspiring, you know, works there.
00:26:34.240 --> 00:26:38.880
Seeing the right kind of movies can be inspiring to whatever those places are.
00:26:39.039 --> 00:26:42.640
Um, one of the things I found is mentoring young leaders.
00:26:42.880 --> 00:26:49.759
Like I know many people, you know, especially Danny, people that are your age think I'm not old enough to be a mentor of young leaders.
00:26:49.839 --> 00:26:51.599
And I say, that's completely wrong.
00:26:51.920 --> 00:26:59.440
But there are those that are coming behind you that you could reach backwards for and offer mentoring and support to.
00:26:59.599 --> 00:27:02.720
And it wouldn't, it would do more for you than it does for them.
00:27:02.880 --> 00:27:06.240
It would keep your fire lit even more than it helps them.
00:27:06.480 --> 00:27:08.799
Uh things like that, though, we need those.
00:27:08.880 --> 00:27:14.319
I call them receive times we receive inspiration that fuels our purpose.
00:27:14.480 --> 00:27:16.880
Um, and then the last two things I think of the things we need.
00:27:16.960 --> 00:27:22.240
We need, like so, we need rest, we need this emotional release, we need receiving, this calling again from God.
00:27:22.880 --> 00:27:26.720
Um, we need recreation, times that are just fun and enjoyable.
00:27:26.880 --> 00:27:28.559
And and we should not ignore these.
00:27:28.640 --> 00:27:34.240
These are really important to find moments of fun that just takes us away from our work for a while.
00:27:34.400 --> 00:27:38.160
The things that we do that are just so enjoyable, we couldn't think about work if we wanted to.
00:27:38.400 --> 00:27:41.680
And then the relationships that we have, the people we have.
00:27:41.920 --> 00:27:48.160
I have read more recently about how burnout is caused by loneliness and isolation.
00:27:48.400 --> 00:27:48.960
Wow.
00:27:49.440 --> 00:28:13.200
More studies are being done and more people are beginning to identify uh brain uh function in old age is being the the uh clarity of brain function in old age is now being identified that it's being influenced to the positive by social and by the amount of social interaction that we have throughout the course of our life.
00:28:13.519 --> 00:28:27.119
In other words, diseases like Alzheimer's and dementia and those kind of brain diseases actually can show up less in people that say they've had active, engaged social lives with people around them.
00:28:27.440 --> 00:28:42.079
So that relate part of our life, man, of us not just getting isolated, not just sitting in a studio with an editing, you know, machine all day long or wherever, you know, getting too isolated, but intentionally having time to interact with those people that just fill our soul.
00:28:42.400 --> 00:29:01.839
So the five again are rest, release, the emotional release, receive, again, receiving from God our sense of purpose and calling and mission, uh, recreation to have great times of fun and enjoyment and relationships, those meaningful relationships with people that fill our soul.
00:29:02.000 --> 00:29:03.920
Those are the things that keep us replenished.
00:29:04.079 --> 00:29:21.200
And what I have for me is just a simple plan that identifies the things I need in each one of those categories and then puts them on my calendar and lets me engage with those things uh on a weekly, daily, monthly, annual basis.
00:29:21.599 --> 00:29:25.039
That's the way to burn to to beat that burnout, right?
00:29:25.119 --> 00:29:27.359
And to show up with full effectiveness, right?
00:29:27.680 --> 00:29:28.799
Yeah, I think so.
00:29:28.960 --> 00:29:35.759
Of having a plan that includes those things with what I call my true north in mind.
00:29:36.240 --> 00:29:40.559
So my true north being those qualities that describe me when I'm at my best.
00:29:40.960 --> 00:29:49.200
Like I I would try, I would describe myself this way, and this is just after some thinking about it and some praying about it and trying to listen to God about it for me.
00:29:49.599 --> 00:29:54.640
When uh and and this may be a little bit, maybe everybody is a little bit like this.
00:29:54.720 --> 00:29:55.279
I'm not sure.
00:29:55.359 --> 00:29:58.880
I'm I hesitate to say everybody, but at least for me, uh, this is it.
00:29:59.279 --> 00:30:09.839
When I am when I am joyful, when I am peaceful, and then for me, when I am kind of the combination of present and optimistic.
00:30:10.079 --> 00:30:13.279
Like I'm here now and I'm optimistic and not anxious.
00:30:13.440 --> 00:30:21.680
Like when I'm joyful, when I'm peaceful and calm, and when I'm present and optimistic, that's me at my best.
00:30:22.640 --> 00:30:27.599
Like if when I'm those qualities, I can probably be all the other great qualities too.
00:30:27.759 --> 00:30:31.119
Like I can be compassionate, I can be caring of other people.
00:30:31.359 --> 00:30:36.079
I tend to be more curious of other people when I'm when I'm in that kind of state.
00:30:36.400 --> 00:30:47.200
Um so I feel I keep my true north in mind, man, those qualities when I like how joyful and peaceful and optimistic and present am I right now?
00:30:47.440 --> 00:30:58.480
And then I have this plan to go, I want to do this plan of rest, release, receive, recreate, and relate so that I can be joyful and peaceful and optimistic.
00:30:58.640 --> 00:31:02.960
And if I start wandering off that, I just go back and go, what in my plan needs to adjust?
00:31:03.279 --> 00:31:07.200
But I want this plan to get me that all the time.
00:31:07.599 --> 00:31:09.200
And I mean all the time.
00:31:09.440 --> 00:31:14.880
Even when things aren't going well, I want this plan to help get me that all the time.
00:31:15.119 --> 00:31:22.480
Because what I've realized is the kind of leaders that we all love to follow, the kind of leaders that you and I admire.
00:31:22.720 --> 00:31:43.759
I mean, you you and I know people like this, Danny, that we admire so much, and we go, oh my gosh, let me be a leader like them, are the leaders who can stand there when the storm is blowing, when the headwinds are calling, when when the hills are steep, when the challenges are big, when everything seems the wheels are all coming off, and those leaders can stand there and go, it's okay.
00:31:43.920 --> 00:31:45.599
It's gonna be, it's this isn't great.
00:31:45.759 --> 00:31:48.319
Things are challenging, but it's gonna be okay.
00:31:48.480 --> 00:31:49.440
We are gonna be okay.
00:31:49.519 --> 00:31:51.839
We're gonna stick together and we're gonna make it through this.
00:31:52.000 --> 00:31:54.079
Those are the kind of leaders we love the best.
00:31:54.319 --> 00:31:55.680
Anybody can be a great leader.
00:31:55.759 --> 00:31:58.559
Everybody can be joyful and peaceful when everything's going great.
00:31:58.720 --> 00:32:02.880
I want a plan that helps get me that when everything's not going great.
00:32:03.119 --> 00:32:03.519
Right.
00:32:04.319 --> 00:32:06.160
Because that's that's when it really matters.
00:32:06.319 --> 00:32:07.279
That's when it matters.
00:32:07.599 --> 00:32:16.559
Uh what's funny is that uh in preparation um for this conversation, I was just thinking about uh all the principles that I've learned from you.
00:32:16.799 --> 00:32:23.680
Uh I think the other day um I was kind of second guessing on like, should I take a day off or should I not?
00:32:23.839 --> 00:32:25.519
Like, there's so much to do.
00:32:25.759 --> 00:32:30.799
And then I felt like it was like your little voice in the back of my head of like replenishment.
00:32:30.960 --> 00:32:33.680
And I'm like, okay, I'll I'm gonna replenish.
00:32:33.759 --> 00:32:53.119
I'm gonna not do anything and just just just be and and rest because like you mentioned, like my true north is yeah, that that joy and and that laughter, and but man, mm the opposite of my true north is like that resentment, that crankiness, that bitterness, you know.
00:32:53.200 --> 00:33:01.519
And I'm like, man, I I I'm not I don't like that person, you know, whenever whenever that person shows up.
00:33:01.680 --> 00:33:03.920
Like I I wanna I wanna be the opposite.
00:33:04.000 --> 00:33:08.640
I want to be that true north of like that way I can just show up better for everyone, you know?
00:33:08.799 --> 00:33:09.119
Yeah.
00:33:09.359 --> 00:33:11.680
And we'll just do better work too, you know.
00:33:11.759 --> 00:33:16.640
I mean, the creativity takes so much energy, right?
00:33:17.039 --> 00:33:19.759
Patience takes so much energy.
00:33:20.000 --> 00:33:23.200
And when we don't have the energy, those are the things that go away.
00:33:23.279 --> 00:33:25.279
Our creativity goes away.
00:33:25.440 --> 00:33:29.359
And I don't know if you've ever tried to be creative when you're tired, you know.
00:33:29.519 --> 00:33:34.079
I mean, I've done those two and three in the morning editing sessions on those videos, man.
00:33:34.160 --> 00:33:40.880
And you're like, I can, I like I I should probably just go home, get some sleep, and come back at this tomorrow because I will be better tomorrow.
00:33:41.119 --> 00:33:43.440
And that is a that's a great thing to think.
00:33:43.599 --> 00:33:48.640
You know, I I think of it this way who who do I want doing surgery on me tomorrow?
00:33:48.880 --> 00:34:02.160
The guy whose tank is full to like an eight or a nine, who's joyful, who's sharp, who's focused, who's or do I want the person who's groggy, who's you know, got the brain fog, who's irritated, who's impatient.
00:34:02.319 --> 00:34:04.720
Do I want him doing surgery on me tomorrow?
00:34:05.440 --> 00:34:08.400
You know, I mean, who like I have to travel for a little bit?
00:34:08.480 --> 00:34:11.440
Who who do I want flying my plane this afternoon when I gotta go?
00:34:11.519 --> 00:34:19.199
You know, I mean I want that person who has took the time to get the rest that they need, to get all the so that they can show up.
00:34:19.280 --> 00:34:22.480
Like I want the pilot on his best day, you know.
00:34:22.719 --> 00:34:23.599
Yeah, absolutely.
00:34:24.000 --> 00:34:27.760
Not the one who's who's so drained and depleted they're having their worst day.
00:34:28.159 --> 00:34:28.960
That's who I want.
00:34:29.119 --> 00:34:31.519
I want the I want the other guy flying my plane.
00:34:31.760 --> 00:34:38.719
And and I think that's what people who honestly, people who love us, they want that for us.
00:34:38.880 --> 00:34:40.880
They, you know, you like your kids.
00:34:41.199 --> 00:34:44.239
Danny, if I said, Danny, tell me what you want for your kids.
00:34:44.400 --> 00:34:47.039
Like, what do you want your kids to experience from their life?
00:34:47.280 --> 00:34:50.239
I could, I could guess what you would say.
00:34:50.400 --> 00:35:00.639
Yeah, you would say, I want them to be full of love and joy, I want them to be happy and excited and optimistic about their life.
00:35:00.800 --> 00:35:06.000
I want, I want you'd be describing us at our best, right?
00:35:06.159 --> 00:35:13.599
No parent would ever say to the kids about the kids' love, I hope they're grouchy and tired and brain fog and you know, nobody would ever say that.
00:35:13.760 --> 00:35:13.920
Right.
00:35:14.079 --> 00:35:20.880
And I would say that if if we as the flawed fathers we are want those good things for our children, again, we know this from scripture.
00:35:21.119 --> 00:35:25.599
How much more does our heavenly father want those things for us?
00:35:27.280 --> 00:35:32.480
How much how much more is our heavenly father the one who's saying, Hey, why don't you just go home and get some sleep?
00:35:33.440 --> 00:35:34.719
You you'll be so much better.
00:35:34.960 --> 00:35:42.000
Why don't why don't you quit putting so much pressure on yourself to be to be the best all the time?
00:35:42.079 --> 00:35:46.239
How won't you quit thinking that you gotta run the world and come up with all the answers?
00:35:46.400 --> 00:35:47.920
Like that's what I'm here for.
00:35:48.159 --> 00:35:51.440
You know, that's what our Heavenly Father would want would want for us.
00:35:51.760 --> 00:35:53.599
Uh why do people burn out?
00:35:53.760 --> 00:35:56.639
Um, what what is the real cause?
00:35:57.280 --> 00:36:04.800
Yeah, you know, a lot of people uh ask me that, and they're typically looking for the technical answer.
00:36:04.960 --> 00:36:06.880
And here's what I mean by the technical answer.
00:36:07.039 --> 00:36:22.480
They're saying they want the answer that says, well, your brain neurology works in this particular way in relationship to stress, and when these stimuli occur, then your brain goes into this gear and it causes this condition called burnout.
00:36:22.559 --> 00:36:26.320
And I mean, they we tend to want the technical answers for this.
00:36:26.960 --> 00:36:34.639
I I deeply believe that the that those the science behind it is is important and that we we probably should pay attention to that.
00:36:35.599 --> 00:36:44.719
But I would say this the main reason that I believe we burn out is because all of us push ourselves past our limits.
00:36:46.320 --> 00:36:51.840
We s we simply work harder than we have the capacity for.
00:36:52.000 --> 00:36:54.000
Now, there is a time to do that.
00:36:54.400 --> 00:37:01.039
Like I I played football in high school and in college, and there is a time to work past your limits, right?
00:37:01.440 --> 00:37:08.159
But here's what every single athlete who is a high performance athlete does when they push themselves past their limits.
00:37:08.559 --> 00:37:14.320
They take intentional time to recover from that so that they are better the next time.
00:37:14.960 --> 00:37:17.760
They don't just keep pushing themselves past their limit.
00:37:18.320 --> 00:37:36.400
Every high performance athlete has a carefully designed plan for rest, for recovery, for muscle rehabilitation, so that they can take that moment of pushing past their limits, rest and recover, and become better the next time.
00:37:38.079 --> 00:37:41.360
All we all have to have that same kind of plan.
00:37:41.760 --> 00:37:54.639
But the reason that we burn out is because we push ourselves past our limits so much and never take time to recover that our that we just can't emotionally, mentally, uh spiritually, physically sustain that.
00:37:54.880 --> 00:38:00.719
And eventually there's no time because we don't take the time to rehabilitate to recover, we run out of gas.
00:38:01.199 --> 00:38:02.079
Simple as that.
00:38:02.639 --> 00:38:07.280
The question really is why do we do that to ourselves?
00:38:09.440 --> 00:38:10.000
Why?
00:38:10.639 --> 00:38:14.639
Like it's it's a weird, like this is our sinful nature on full display.
00:38:14.960 --> 00:38:18.719
But why do we do things that are not good for us?
00:38:19.599 --> 00:38:19.840
Right.
00:38:20.320 --> 00:38:23.599
I mean, isn't that the question that Jesus came to answer for us to help us with?
00:38:24.239 --> 00:38:40.559
You know, the reason we needed him on the cross was because we all have this weird thing in us that the Bible identifies as sin, call it whatever you want to, but we all have this weird quality inside of us that lets us do things that are not in our own best interests.
00:38:41.840 --> 00:38:49.360
And what we have to do, I think, especially as followers of Jesus, is tap the resource that has been given to us by God.
00:38:49.440 --> 00:38:50.719
It's called grace.
00:38:52.880 --> 00:38:56.719
It says, Look, you you are not going to measure up.
00:38:57.599 --> 00:39:00.960
That's why you needed me to to come and die for your sins.
00:39:01.119 --> 00:39:02.800
Because you remember you don't measure up.
00:39:03.199 --> 00:39:05.840
You you can't solve all the world's problems on your own.
00:39:05.920 --> 00:39:06.880
That's why you have me.
00:39:06.960 --> 00:39:08.400
You can't do it all.
00:39:08.800 --> 00:39:10.000
That's why you've got me.
00:39:10.480 --> 00:39:22.000
So quit trying to do everything, quit pushing yourself beyond beyond what's good for you, quit doing things that are not in your best interest.
00:39:22.559 --> 00:39:24.079
Cooperate with me.
00:39:24.400 --> 00:39:36.079
And I believe this is why when Jesus addressed this issue of burnout, way back in the first century, he said this here's here's Jesus' antidote for burnout.
00:39:36.400 --> 00:39:45.519
Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest.
00:39:46.320 --> 00:39:54.639
He says, Take my my yoke upon you, learn from me, because I'm gentle and I'm humble at heart.
00:39:54.880 --> 00:39:56.079
I'm gentle with you.
00:39:56.400 --> 00:40:01.920
Like my my yoke is gentle, and he's and he's almost like Jesus is saying, Your yoke isn't.
00:40:02.960 --> 00:40:08.079
Like my yoke is my yoke doesn't have the level of expectation on you that your yoke has.
00:40:08.719 --> 00:40:18.400
Your your yoke is you expecting yourself to solve every problem, to know every answer, to accomplish every task, and to make every outcome happen.
00:40:18.880 --> 00:40:21.199
That's that's the yoke that you put on yourself.
00:40:21.519 --> 00:40:24.320
And Jesus goes, I I never put that yoke on you.
00:40:24.800 --> 00:40:28.239
I said, Come to me, depend on me, trust me.
00:40:28.400 --> 00:40:30.880
Yeah, do it's like years and years ago, right?
00:40:30.960 --> 00:40:35.440
That old Keith Green song, you just do your best, pray that it's blessed, and let me take care of the rest.
00:40:35.599 --> 00:40:36.639
You know, yeah.
00:40:37.199 --> 00:40:38.400
That's Jesus' yoke.
00:40:38.480 --> 00:40:40.320
He said, I'm gentle, I'm humble at heart.
00:40:40.400 --> 00:40:42.559
That's what I that's what he did when he was on this planet.
00:40:42.639 --> 00:40:47.679
He just kept watching his heavenly father, doing what his heavenly father asked him to do, and then walking away.
00:40:48.480 --> 00:40:54.079
And Jesus says, You do that, and you will find rest for your soul.
00:40:55.519 --> 00:41:06.239
Man, I'm I'm telling you, it it's it's gonna be a lifelong process for us to learn Jesus' way and start to put Jesus' way into practice instead of trying to try and do it our way.
00:41:06.400 --> 00:41:07.679
Our way burns us out.
00:41:08.320 --> 00:41:10.480
His way gives us gives us life.
00:41:11.039 --> 00:41:13.039
Mitch, uh you wrote a great book.
00:41:13.199 --> 00:41:16.960
Can can you tell us a little bit about it and and where we can find your book?
00:41:17.360 --> 00:41:18.880
Yeah, uh I wrote this book.
00:41:18.960 --> 00:41:20.639
It's called Running on Full.
00:41:21.119 --> 00:41:45.519
And uh because I do a lot of work with uh business leaders, uh marketplace leaders, and church leaders both, uh the book was kind of written in both of those directions, uh to speak to business leaders, but also to speak to uh to church leaders um and to talk about this framework of build of how to build a plan to uh to show up at your best, um, to keep the tank full.
00:41:45.679 --> 00:41:49.360
Um and uh so you can get it, you know, wherever books are sold.
00:41:49.440 --> 00:41:51.440
Uh it's called running on full.
00:41:51.599 --> 00:42:02.400
And it's just it's really is just meant to be a resource to help people to do this thing that, again, a lot of times nobody really try gives us any practical answers about how to do.
00:42:02.639 --> 00:42:09.199
So uh most of the stuff you can find through my website uh at refillcoaching.com.
00:42:09.599 --> 00:42:16.400
Um RefillCoing.com, it's got a link there where you can uh sign up for my newsletter uh that I put out every couple weeks.
00:42:16.480 --> 00:42:24.000
And the newsletter is just an article that I write to just continually keep the conversation going around this issue of how to keep our tank full.
00:42:24.239 --> 00:42:27.519
And uh this probably the best place to reach me is through that.
00:42:27.679 --> 00:42:39.360
But also what you can do too is if if there's people that are listening and they say, Man, I I just feel like I need a little bit of a conversation around this, there's a place on my website where you can click and just set up a 30-minute conversation with me.
00:42:39.440 --> 00:42:41.280
And I would just love to talk with you about that.
00:42:41.360 --> 00:42:43.840
There's no obligation in that, it doesn't cost you anything.
00:42:44.000 --> 00:42:53.760
Um, but it's just an opportunity to have a conversation that may hopefully help kind of jumpstart you uh down the road uh to begin to find a better way.
00:42:54.400 --> 00:43:10.000
I do hope that this uh podcast is gonna really just bring life to people in their situations and in their places of burnout and just really be able to just get above water and just see the beauty that's around them.
00:43:10.159 --> 00:43:15.280
That way they can uh re-reengage and reignite back into their true purpose.
00:43:15.599 --> 00:43:16.159
Absolutely.
00:43:16.320 --> 00:43:22.880
Well, man, and Danny, I gotta tell you, I you know, you I have made no secret, you know, about loving the work that you do.
00:43:22.960 --> 00:43:25.840
I used to do video work, but nothing like you get you do it.
00:43:26.000 --> 00:43:37.840
And uh I I think that the that the world is watching screens these days, like it or not, good or bad, the world is watching the screens these days.
00:43:38.159 --> 00:44:00.639
And when people can look through a lens with the eyes of God and begin to tell God's stories through uh through those lenses and through and on those screens, um, man, I'm telling you, I think the world gets impacted by those things because people consume information, they consume experiences a lot of times through those screens.
00:44:00.800 --> 00:44:12.639
And so the work that people like you and others do to tell the stories, to uh to to share beauty, to share the greatness of what other organizations are doing uh to make the world better, man, those matter so deeply.
00:44:12.800 --> 00:44:20.800
And so for all of you who are doing that, to be able to have a plan where you can bring the very best of what God has put in you to the table, man.
00:44:20.960 --> 00:44:27.599
That's I love supporting people like that and helping them to be able to do that because of the outcome of that, you know, is in terms of impact on the world.
00:44:27.760 --> 00:44:33.679
So God bless you for what you're doing, man, and and for all those that are that are listening and following what you do, man.
00:44:33.840 --> 00:44:35.360
More more power to you.
00:44:36.079 --> 00:44:38.400
