The debate topic:
Bioinspiration, the development of novel materials and structures inspired by biological systems and evolution, has been the essence and main claim of Soft Robotics research. Yet, soft robots are nowhere close to mimicking the life cycle of biological creatures, i.e. growth, adaptation, morphogenesis, and returning to their starting state. Going beyond smart materials, biohybrids may be the solution to multifunctionality and biocompatibility. In this debate, we will bring together experts in Bioinspiration and Biohybrid design to discuss the necessary steps to make more competent soft robots. We will try to answer whether bioinspired research should focus more on developing new bioinspired material and structures or on the integration of living and artificial structures in biohybrid designs.
Panellists:
Prof. Cecilia Laschi
Prof. Metin Sitti
Dr. Ritu Raman
Dr. Talia Moore
Moderator:
Dr. Sam Kriegman
We hope you enjoy it :)

Matic Robots, Tomorrow’s Reveal + The New Hand of Foundation
Scott Walter and I sat down to talk about the new Hand of Foundation, as well as what’s coming with Matic robots and tomorrow’s reveal.
Humanoid robotics is increasingly bounded by battery life, which directly impacts uptime, operating costs, and ultimately unit economics.
Heat is another challenge. Thermal management can add weight and complexity, making battery design even more important. I sat down with Joe Papp, co-founder o...
Jason Black is a venture investor focused on transformational technologies, with a particular interest in robotics, AI, and frontier markets. He spent nearly a decade at RRE Ventures, where he partnered with founders building companies across deep tech and emerging industries. Known early in his ...
Mia Hand: For Humans & Robots
Scott Walter sits down with Francesco Clemente from Prensilia to break down the design of Mia Hand and take a deep dive into its development.
