In this video, I talk about how Steve Wozniak quietly gave away $10 million of his own Apple stock so early employees like Daniel Kottke, Bill Fernandez, Chris Espinosa, and Randy Wigington could share in the success they helped build. While Steve Jobs decided not to give them stock during Apple’s 1980 IPO, Wozniak stepped in with what became the “W Plan,” letting around 80 early team members buy Apple shares from him at only $5 each. Those shares exploded in value over time, changing lives and making sure the people who built Apple’s foundation weren’t forgotten. ✎ You’ll also learn why some early Apple employees were left out of the IPO and how deeply it affected people like Kottke, who worked side by side with Jobs and Wozniak since the garage days. I walk through how Wozniak took it personally when loyal team members were ignored, and how his profit-sharing mindset came from his time at HP. He believed everyone who contributed—engineers, marketers, even young kids who wrote code in the early days—deserved to feel ownership in the company. His decision to give away his own shares wasn’t for recognition. He did it quietly, simply because it was fair. ✎ In the last part of the video, I break down the legacy of Wozniak’s generosity and why it still inspires leaders today. In a world where founders rarely give up their personal equity, Wozniak showed that success isn’t just about wealth—it’s about lifting others up with you. His actions shaped Apple’s early culture of loyalty and teamwork, and they stand as a reminder that kindness and leadership go hand in hand. When you help people rise with you, everyone wins. This story is one of the most powerful examples of leading with heart, staying true to your values, and believing in the people who believe in you. ★ BOOKS ★ • Momentum: https://amzn.to/3kJZIAv • Build to Serve: https://amzn.to/3XZiCSg • Your One Word: https://amzn.to/3R9qVII • The Top 10 Rules for Success: https://amzn.to/3JcNZVe • 254 Confidence: https://amzn.to/3jdh9c2 ★ RECOMMENDED VIDEOS FOR YOU ★ If you liked this video, you'll love these ones: • Why Saying No Grows Your Business Faster - https://youtu.be/-GiE7IRcID4 • Let’s Talk About the AI Bubble - https://youtu.be/a8ge21NbVCI • How Evan Spiegel Turned A "Stupid" Idea Into The Snapchat Empire - https://youtu.be/CvK3hLdNwmY ⚑ SUBSCRIBE TO MY CHANNEL ⚑ If you want to do great things you need to have a great environment.
