关于这一集
On paper, you’re doing everything “right” — working hard, taking care of people, checking all the boxes — but your patience is gone, your body is throwing alarms, and you still can’t stop. In this episode of Engineered Miracles, Annmarie Bhola shares how decades in high‑stress engineering roles and an Indo‑Caribbean “failure is not an option” upbringing led to a breast cancer diagnosis, and how that became the turning point for redefining success, health, and miracles.
What you’ll hear in this episode
The moment her body did what any overloaded system does when you ignore every warning light
Growing up Indo‑Caribbean with “if it’s not broken, don’t fix it” and “just get over it” as emotional operating codes
How military‑style training, engineering culture, and perfectionism normalized permanent survival mode
The question that stopped her cold after cancer: “If you had to write your own eulogy, what would it say?”
Why transformation isn’t magic or willpower — it’s the conditions your system is running under
A simple one‑minute daily practice to start changing those conditions without quitting your job or blowing up your life
One reflection question for you
“If you are the most important system you run, what’s one condition you’ve been refusing to look at because you’re too busy holding everything else together?”
Try this experiment from the episode
This week, pick one moment a day when your body goes into alarm mode — jaw tight, chest tight, shoulders up, brain racing. Instead of pushing through, change one condition in that minute: step outside, take three slow breaths, or say, “Give me five minutes, I’ll call you right back.”
You’re not being weak; you’re doing preventative maintenance on the most critical system you operate: you.
