Turning Career Challenges into Opportunities with Restaurateur Vic Rallo

BITE BACK: The Morning Drive with Jon D'Agostino, Episode 05

In this episode of the BITE BACK: The Morning Drive, Jon D'Agostino, speaks with Vic Rallo, an American restaurateur and wine critic, who owns and runs Birravino in Red Bank, New Jersey.

Birravino is a restaurant concept created by Vic Rallo, host of Eat! Drink! Italy! on Create TV. Over the past 10 years, Vic has been fortunate enough to travel to Italy more than 20 times, discovering the delicious food, wine, and culture of the Italian people. During his journeys, Vic has cooked and eaten in both obscure and off-the-beaten-path Italian kitchens, as well as restaurants run by famous Michelin-starred chefs. These experiences have encouraged Vic to share his passion. Vic’s passion drives the concept behind Birravino. It is the notion of 'materia prima' - the prime ingredient.

Tune in to the episode to hear about:

 * How it was for Vic growing up in his family’s restaurant business (starting with Rollos Pizzeria in 1963), and being pushed to attend law school, realizing he preferred the kitchen and hospitality to an office career

 * Jon's career path, leaving his family construction business, pursuing law driven by injury-related interests, and building a practice focused on client experience

 * What drives success: building strong teams, setting standards, and delivering consistent, end-to-end service and “experience” in restaurants and legal clients

 * Jon and Vic's emphasis on leading by example, hustling, learning from failed attempts, and the idea that “the harder you work, the luckier you get”
