Key takeaways1. Creative confidence combines the ability to generate ideas with the courage to defend, develop, and implement them. Tom believes people do not lose creativity as they age, but often bury it beneath busy schedules, self-doubt, and routine.
2. Creative thoughts often surface when the brain is not overloaded by messages, meetings, or tasks. Find your most creative time, such as a walk or a quiet moment, capture ideas as they arise, and review them regularly.
3. The fastest way to learn whether an idea has value is to create the quickest and least expensive prototype possible. Presenting an idea as an experiment also lowers the stakes and makes it easier for leaders and teams to say yes.
4. Business as usual is rarely enough in a world changing this quickly. Creativity works alongside analysis and execution to help individuals and organizations find better paths forward.
5. Tom encourages professionals, especially those early in their careers, to develop collaboration, communication, motivation, and constructive feedback skills. He also urges people to become capable users of AI, with humans remaining the pilot and AI serving as the copilot.
