00:02:00
Speaker 3: Like's a handful, it's a handful. But now he and Allie are getting away. Yeah, that's awesome.
00:02:04
Speaker 5: Awesome, love to see it. Take the dick advantage when you can, even if it's a short time.
00:02:08
Speaker 3: Druid Joy every sandwich and the grandkids and the grandparents are going to be happy. And you know, as a kid, what's better than hanging out with your.
00:02:15
Speaker 5: Grandparents summertime, exciting time, no doubt, Brewer games for young Carson, he's a's abby I know.
00:02:23
Speaker 3: I love that love.
00:02:24
Speaker 6: Speaking of the Brewers, they beat the Reds last evening. It was a seven to two victory. As predicted here, they were going to put up a touchdown. Well done, drew on that prediction. It turned out to be right.
00:02:36
Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, they put up a crooked number with the benefit of a little bit of fortune in terms of the batting average on balls and play category of the tertiary analytics. You might enjoy if you're a statner datahead. They got a lot of soft hit singles in that fourth inning. But hey, baseball is a way of doing this, evening it out because the Brewers have hit into some really bad luckily in my opinion, some hard hit balls around, so they were due for a few breaks, a few duck farts, and they got the.
00:03:06
Speaker 6: Brandon's brot pitched well. Little stat nuggets for you, here's one from our own David gasper Well.
00:03:15
Speaker 5: I love that.
00:03:15
Speaker 6: What's up, Dave, Brewers have a twenty and sixteen record in games when the opponents score first.
00:03:23
Speaker 5: Now, that's a sign of a good team, isn't it true?
00:03:25
Speaker 3: I think so.
00:03:25
Speaker 5: When you have a winning record, when you have the when you are trailing in a game, that's a sign of a good team.
00:03:31
Speaker 6: They are the only team in baseball with a winning record. That's pretty when the opponents scores first. Score in the first round of baseball. You know, it's a long game and stuff. It might not seem like a big deal, but it is a harbinger of success. You score first, you often win the game more often than not. And yet the Brewers are beating the odds there?
00:03:47
Speaker 5: Does that also mean Drew that that's Is that a worrisome trend?
00:03:51
Speaker 3: Though?
00:03:52
Speaker 5: I guess it's not. I mean, I'm not sure that would continue. How often can that happen, keeping a record like that when you're trailing in a game, Although I honestly haven't looked much to see if there's there are teams beating that outlier every year. Yeah, the Brewers are one of those teams.
00:04:06
Speaker 3: That's great.
00:04:08
Speaker 6: Brewers are five and oh against the Reds this season. They finished the month of June with a seventeen to ten record. Again, put up months like that, you're in good shape.
00:04:17
Speaker 5: Well, I guess it's a reminder that we can't really expect a pace like this to necessarily continue. Right, fifty two and thirty one is the record. Yep, so fifty two wins, so you know you're basically in one hundred and one win pace. I don't do the math, but it's pretty impressive right now, what they're doing. And just like last year when they won their crazy run, you have to be realistic and say, all right, well, this pace probably won't continue throughout the whole season unless they do when they have the first hundred win season in Brewers history. I suppose, I suppose, but you have to be realistic about it, right and say, Okay, they might be there might be hiccups here and there. There might be some tough stretch absolutely, and you're just not gonna like, yeah, they're on pace for one hundred and one and a half wins, so you're not just gonna like, you know, freaking up, there isn't one. But that hearkens back to what you were saying the first segment. It's like that everything will not and cannot be perfect all the time. So to nitpick and say, well, Yelich is scuffling right now, it's kind of kind of productive.
00:05:15
Speaker 6: Selfreelck was scuffling for much of the season and we were pointing it out, like he was kind of flying under the radar and people were focused on the left side of the infield and right field when he was holding it down was a sinkhole. He hit uh three, like three fifty in the month of June. I think he's coming around. Had three hits last night for the first time in a year. Yeah, again, regression perhaps, Like it's like you just figured he was gonna but they'd stuck with him, and now the ugliness it's focused on Yelich because he's struggling really bad and he's the leadoff hitter. It's like, well, we won, but Yellows was all for four. They got to get him out of the leadoff spot.
00:05:49
Speaker 5: Do they well? And you know Yelich was gonna be good at some point of course, so that's the thing. Why make the change and you're winning games?
00:05:57
Speaker 6: Yeah, it was quite a It was a Brewer's to the bottom of the fourth, you know. It was just like single, single, single single, you know, single, Yeah, but walk single like that's a small market rally, right.
00:06:12
Speaker 5: Small market rally, and the brewis a specialize in that now for a few years to the point where it's like, all right, that's what we do and you gotta love it.
00:06:19
Speaker 3: Absolutely.
00:06:20
Speaker 6: There was a time when the Brewers couldn't lose to the Pirates, and then it kind of flipped where they struggled against the s Pirates, but they there was a couple of years where the Brewers just absolutely dominated the Pirates, and now the Reds are in that boat. Brewers are five to zero against the Reds this season. In their last sixty nine games dating back to the start of the twenty twenty one season, the Brewers are fifty and nineteen against Cincinnati.
00:06:45
Speaker 5: That's dominant. You love to see.
00:06:46
Speaker 3: That is absolute open a can of whoop pass.
00:06:51
Speaker 5: Well, it almost makes you wish we had the old divisional schedule where we could see them more. But I mean, what.
00:06:56
Speaker 6: Would the Brewers record be if they did that? But then again, you'd be sacrificed in games against the American League.
00:07:01
Speaker 5: Which sucks right now, terrible, And in a lot of ways, this is gonna help some American League team in a couple of months that's been hovering around five hundred. It has one good week and that could get into a wildcard at eighty three eighty four wins, You're gonna probably see that in the American League. So it is funny how that's worked and how the increased interleague play games have swung the balance of wins and losses in the American League to the National League, when previously it was basically a fix something, a zero sum thing, the same amount of wins and losses in each ly but not anymore. So pretty interesting. Murph need Dan and Westman. Murph needs to tell Sally he's only allowed to hit the baseball to the opposite field from now on. It does definitely seem like we're seeing the sal Free lick. That is more like the sal Free lick that we've come to accustom to. You wouldn't say punching Judy hitter, but he's slapping an opposite field drew a lot. Now he's waiting back. He's not he's not on his keyser in his knees every time he swings. This is the salfreel like we've come accrost him to to see. He's been better nine of his last eighteen.
00:08:06
Speaker 3: That's pretty good, pretty good, pretty good? All right?
00:08:09
Speaker 6: Eight seven seven seven nine. We're going to fire up the hot Teke hump Day machine momentarily, but first, Hunter Bombgart has an exclusive interview for US had a baby Hunter with Brewers starting pitcher Shane dron who's pitching today?
00:08:21
Speaker 3: Is the brus try to win the series?
00:08:24
Speaker 6: Like I said, it seems like most the most four game series they often end in Split's hard to win a four game series.
00:08:31
Speaker 5: Take three of that four, but it's good if you win the first too. That's a good recipe.
00:08:34
Speaker 6: Forty percent of them end up in draws. But in this case, however, Brers have an opportunity. So let's take a listen to Hunter Bombgart's interview with bru's starting pitcher today, Shane Drownt.
00:08:47
Speaker 2: Shane, first question for you have five starts here in June, just how has the routine gotten a little bit more normal rather than coming out of the pen here over the last month. How do you feel now compared to what you did if to start June?
00:09:00
Speaker 3: I feel good.
00:09:01
Speaker 7: Yeah, definitely a lot more structure to it. You know, you really just have you know, the four or five or six days in between each start mapped out, as opposed to in the pen, where it's kind of just like, you know, whenever they call down.
00:09:19
Speaker 3: So, yeah, it's been good.
00:09:20
Speaker 2: When you came into this and you're you're obviously you're you're ready to be a starter, You're in you're.
00:09:27
Speaker 3: In that relief role.
00:09:29
Speaker 2: How does the mentality change when you're like, Okay, now I've got a couple starts under my belt.
00:09:33
Speaker 3: Now I kind of.
00:09:34
Speaker 2: Does do you have to kind of think of yourself as a starter then or how does your mentality go with that?
00:09:40
Speaker 3: Not?
00:09:41
Speaker 7: Not as much as I might have originally expected. I think, like, especially for what my role was kind of in the bullpen, where it was more of that longer relief, it was, you know, pretty similar to starting. But yeah, I honestly just tried to really just keep the same mindset.
00:10:00
Speaker 3: I felt like I was.
00:10:00
Speaker 7: Throwing really well out of the pen and attacking the lineups really well, so I kind of just wanted to carry that into a starter role and just just throw more. That's that's pretty much how I looked at it. It was like I'm just gonna throw more.
00:10:12
Speaker 2: How have you felt that attacking like you did in the Bullpen has went as a starter so.
00:10:18
Speaker 7: Far, Okay, I think I think it could be better. I think there's there's some areas where you know, I could do better. I feel like, you know, putting guys away. I haven't been as good the past, you know, a couple outings. I feel like that's more of kind of just like a mentality thing as opposed to like stuff, you know, when you're starting, the opposing lineup really does have, you know, kind of like hours to prepare for you and your stuff. So I feel like I might have just been pressing a little too much with two strikes, which trying to be a little too perfect with pitches, and you know, you look up and then it's two, two or three too. So kind of just getting back to just like throw your best pitch in the moment.
00:11:06
Speaker 2: You know, because the opposing lineup has, like you said, more time to prepare for you, does that change your preparation at all? Or has that kind of stayed the same as far as how you prepare.
00:11:18
Speaker 3: It's kind of stayed the same.
00:11:19
Speaker 7: I would say, you know, I sat in the meetings that we'd have with the Bullpen at the beginning of each series, and then you know now starting where you have your meeting before you're outing, you know, relatively the same. You know, you can't really think about changing too much. You know, it's still the same game. But yeah, it's it's you know, same kind of meetings. You know, you know, attack these guys in throw it down on the dirt with two strikes, elevate with two strikes, kind of the same deal. It's just it's more about just like controlling the game a lot more. I think as a starter versus a reliever. Obviously I paid attention to like the running game, it's stuff of opposing teams, But I feel like as a starter that matters much more when you're trying to get you know, deep into games and stuff. You know, you got a guy on first, you really do not want him to go to second. You don't want to give up a bag, and you know, kind of get lazy and they swipe a bag and then you're out of a double play and then you kind of get a blue pit and that's a run. So it's just like those little things that kind of add up just to help the seam.
00:12:24
Speaker 2: One halfway through the season, how has your relationship with your catchers controversts and sant just grown from the beginning of the year till now.
00:12:32
Speaker 7: Great. I feel like, yeah, when I first came in, they were didn't really know me. I felt like they've done an amazing job of kind of just really helping me throughout the outings and then just like learning, you know, on the fly with me. I'm, you know, a little bit more quiet than most guys. So I feel like William and Gary have done a good job of like kind of like learning how I like to pitch, and then just sequencing stuff and getting through the addings.
00:13:01
Speaker 2: Yeah, how much is that kind of a team atmosphere between you and the catcher every time out? You know a lot of people I'm sure to think of starting pitcher as you're going out in your throwing, but I'm sure it's a lot of that teamwork between you two is so so crucial to each start.
00:13:14
Speaker 7: Yeah, absolutely, you know, the communication there is huge. I think, you know, just as the season progressed too, like there's things that pop up, like, you know, some days a certain pitch I might not be feeling that well with, but it's looking good, you know, from from William or Gary's perspective, So it's also just trusting them, you know, I kind of I really like to trust my catchers and trust their eyes and like what they're seeing. So there's times where, you know, there was days where I wasn't, you know, really maybe feeling my curve well out that well, but they were like, no, it looks good, we got to throw it.
00:13:49
Speaker 3: So it's just things like that.
00:13:51
Speaker 2: Absolutely, Shane really appreciated the time.
00:13:52
Speaker 3: Thanks so much, No problem anytime.
00:13:55
Speaker 6: Our hunter bomgart with Bruce Lefty Shane Row and starting tonight against the reds Uh.
00:14:00
Speaker 3: I bet the Red Sox would like to have that kid back.
00:14:03
Speaker 5: Oh gosh, yeah, I would imagine him plus some others.
00:14:07
Speaker 6: He enters tonight with three and two record three point one two ERA. This will be his seventh start in seventeenth. Overall appearance being consistent, done really well.
00:14:15
Speaker 3: Uh.
00:14:15
Speaker 5: Kind of one of the guys you forget about because of the accitement of some of the other guys in the staff. But he's been awesome. He's very soft spoken guy, but still waters run deep there. I think simply insightful stuff. While his relationship with the catchers, how they've learned to sequence him, things like that, you know that that's the nuances of the game that a lot of people don't think about. Drew, like, how's he how's the guy thrown today? You know, is he getting us strikeouts? But how their relationship is with the catcher, how they're set up well for success by the organization, by the team, by the coaches, by the catchers, by the program.
00:14:45
Speaker 3: Right, h is it is?
00:14:48
Speaker 5: I think something we forget about his fans sometimes. But in insightful stuff.
00:14:52
Speaker 6: There all right talking text lines open for you eight seven seven seven nine four three take head hot take ump to headquarter is the Nikola a Lottak. I'm talking text line, So get us your hot takes. Steve hit us up earlier and said it was really nice not having to sweat through that game last night, at least not worrying about it. They did a great A little worried about Sproute, but he came around and got a good chunk of that game.
00:15:14
Speaker 3: Nice offensive last night, Nice offense last night for the Brewers.
00:15:18
Speaker 5: Yeah, nice night, have a close one, although you definitely sweated through it if you're if you're out, yeah, last night for sure. But yeah, I get his point. Pretty ironic though that he would say like that but yeah, it was nice to get it as you predicted, Drew the crooked number, and to uh to get the win comfortably as well. Oh we've got a hot take from seven to one to five. You want to hear it, Drew? Yes, Actually I feel that you were talking about the UW hiring or.
00:15:41
Speaker 3: Or reported hiring of Shawn, I course, the new aide for a new ad and you talked about how they don't have a chancellor yet.
00:15:49
Speaker 5: He says, I feel that you a W is doing the hiring ass backwards. Should be the president, the chancellor and then the a d like when Wiley, Ward and Schialala were there with Barry, so they can form a vision mission statement and for both EDE education and athletics they work co easily together and took the W from sucking to a top tier school. Okay, in ideal terms, yes, maybe that'd be it, But Drew has uh what hasn't changed in college athletics for in the thirty five years since those three were involved? Yes, I mean the shared vision education athletics. It's very it's a whole, it's very idealistic. But this is not that era, isn't it.
00:16:24
Speaker 3: It's it's a whole new landscape over there. It's a whole new DELI. Oh yeah it is.
00:16:30
Speaker 6: Uh, it's not the same universe.
00:16:33
Speaker 2: Yeah.
00:16:33
Speaker 7: No.
00:16:34
Speaker 5: And you you know, the point there is well taken about hiring a chancellor and hiring assistant president. But you also don't want to get too far behind hiring an ad because you have to have someone leading the program, and you don't want to fall too far behind in the fundraising with all the things going on at such a crucial time at UW Athletics. Yeah, you know, you don't want to fall behind with that.
00:16:54
Speaker 6: Yeah, and again you can pan the higher if you if you want, But like I just can you just let it breathe and let it actually you know, let.
00:17:01
Speaker 3: It actually develop a little bit. I think that'd be good.
00:17:03
Speaker 6: So get us your hot takes eight seven seven seven nine four seven three are pal Adobe Maxwell's joined the party.
00:17:08
Speaker 3: Did you get your walk in already? I got my walk in? Got up at three am. No one else going to be on the show. God, three am, three am, ten thousand steps an hour before we get up.
00:17:18
Speaker 5: Amazing work, especially in this heat. Unless you did it indoors, which have been a smort.
00:17:21
Speaker 3: No, I did it outdoors with the swamp. Uh. Yeah, I don't want to swamp booty. Yeah, swamp boody.
00:17:27
Speaker 6: You didn't go to your twenty four hour store, just walk around at the admer Usually I do that.
00:17:32
Speaker 3: Kind of thing, but they I knew I was going to so I took my annual shower. I'm scrubbed.
00:17:35
Speaker 6: He's ready to rock, oct cocked, ready to rock, ready to go on hot tech Humpday. That's amazing. Well, we welcome Adobe Max. Always good to see. It's good to be here. We just heard you're probably listening on the way up. We heard Hunter's interview with Shane Shane Joran his Brewers Report. It's all brought to us by import Minded, your trusted source for vehicle care. Twenty seventh Street, just north of eight ninety four. All right, hot take hump day. Hot tags can be about sports, they can be about food. They can be about fireworks on fourth of July. They can be about music, art, culture, anything. We're not limiting anything.
00:18:04
Speaker 3: And here's a.
00:18:05
Speaker 6: Hot take for you. Dave Roberts, manager of the Dodgers. They're expected to win. They're like us steel. He's a damn good manager and he's going into the Hall of Fame for as a manager. He just he won his one thousandth game last night, the fastest manager to get to a thousand victories in history. And you can say, well, well, of course anybody can measure that talent that roster. All you gotta do is show up. It ain't that easy. Dave Roberts is underregarded. He was a Manager of the Year once in twenty sixteen. He's won three World Series championships with the Dodgers, and now he's got a thousand wins. He's going in the Hall of Fame like already, he could retire today and be in the Hall of Fame based on what he's done.
00:18:48
Speaker 5: And he's been in more World Series too, And it's like.
00:18:50
Speaker 6: As a player, he was known for a stolen base in a big series for the Red Sox that turned the series around against the Yankees, the comeback. So he's he's a permanently a hero in Boston and he's made his legacy and his bones in La as the manager. And I still say, like, yeah, they got a great roster, but you never hear like drama with them like they have. You know, nobody bitches about playing time like they got all these superstars. They bring all these guys in and he keeps things humming and that is a job in itself. So I think he's underregarded. He's one of those guys. He's a little bit like Jordan and Lebron. The only reason he doesn't win Manager of the Years because of fatigued by the voters, like we can't give it to him, sure, it'd be too easy.
00:19:26
Speaker 3: He's a standard bearer.
00:19:27
Speaker 6: He is, and it's like he's reached that level where he is that good a manager and yeah, okay, but you know, yeah, he's got a great roster.
00:19:34
Speaker 5: Well, and he never get the respect anyway. Right, It's like if a billionaire gives away five million in charity, they're gonna say, well, you could have given it more. He could have done more, he could have won more. Well, he could have won every game. I mean it's like and you.
00:19:46
Speaker 6: Know, and again it goes to like he's a great manager, fastest ever to a thousand wins. He's won three World Series. He's also lost two World Series. Yeah, hard to win championships. Brady lost some super Bowls. He did, he did, but people you don't remember. And Jordan lost playoff series, believe it or a new point he did. Yeah, we forget that kind of stuff. All right, we're halfway through the half. We're halfway through the week. Actually we're more than halfway through the week. We should have observed halftime of the week yesterday because we're not working Friday. It is the holiday. I heard our overlords are giving us the Friday off and we're off here. Yeah, we're off on the third and we're celebrating the third end the four so it's a little bit of an extended weekend for us.
00:20:25
Speaker 3: Billy is in Vegas.
00:20:26
Speaker 6: He's on his way to Vegas right now, enjoying a little R and R on his week off for him. A Doobe's in, Scott Dolphin's coming in. We reach halftime. We got plenty of room for your hot takes. We want some more. Eight seven seven seven ninety four one ninety seven to three. Arman got us off to a slow start today. He didn't hit the button, so we weren't rolling on YouTube right away with the video. We were audio still there.
00:20:47
Speaker 3: We were on the air, but we weren't. They didn't see our beautiful face. And then no one needs to see our face until that's all right, that's all right, But Dolph will be in next and we'll fire. We'll throw some hot takes at Dolph. You were in the Fox Sports Radio Wisconsin.
00:21:08
Speaker 6: Rolling along the huddle, Fox Sports Radio Wisconsin nine, twenty, Milwaukee ten, seventy, Madison everywhere in the I heart ops, streaming live, Facebook X and YouTube, Dobe Maxwell in, Billy's on vacation. Adobe's filling in and it's halftime. So our halftime correspondent's got Dolphin from the country station on the hall FM one oh six is here with us. Hello, Dolph, Ellas, good to see you.
00:21:25
Speaker 8: Adobe w reminded me the last time we met was on I think two morning shows ago. I thought I had a mullet then, and I may have had a body wave in the back.
00:21:33
Speaker 3: It was very stylish.
00:21:35
Speaker 5: What you mean your flow is looking.
00:21:39
Speaker 8: The man that cat pitching for the Reds was that last night of the night before last night? What a great flow. I mean it spilled over both shoulders, front and back.
00:21:48
Speaker 6: I thought the journey tour bus broke down. Is the mullet making a comeback in some circles or did it never go away? Because when I walked through West allis on my way into State Fair, I.
00:21:58
Speaker 8: See a lot of mullets is going with that. Look now, country music it's big. I mean Morgan Wallen kind of has brought it back.
00:22:05
Speaker 3: Prison yards to the absolutely.
00:22:07
Speaker 8: You know, it was never called the bullet when I grew the bullet, it was always called hockey hair.
00:22:11
Speaker 3: That's what we called.
00:22:11
Speaker 5: Okay, it was called it was called the latest hair do. It was just called hair. Yeah. A lot of mustaches coming back now for young dudes as well.
00:22:19
Speaker 3: They're trying to get corn. Stash is big.
00:22:21
Speaker 5: Everything is cyclical everything.
00:22:23
Speaker 3: Some women that I date too, they got little fingers, the handlebar, the goose.
00:22:28
Speaker 5: Gosh, it doesn't matter, it doesn't matter, Dobie. Right, So the lights come on.
00:22:32
Speaker 6: At the battle, Yeah, yeah, the Hungarian all right, So it's hot take hump day. We're entertaining hot takes. There's so much going on in sports that we have to pick through, Like this is the NBA feeding friends, and it's like I think most people here. Once we got resolution with Giannis last week, it's like, all right, Janis is an armback.
00:22:52
Speaker 3: All right.
00:22:53
Speaker 6: Bucks made a move yesterday signed Uzman Jeng to a deal. They didn't they didn't tender him. They signed him a three year deal. He's a young player betting on the come. But now like now it's Lebron, It's Lebron and Palooza because Kawhi is getting traded out of LA. All the talents leaving California, right sure, Yeah, and Lebron's gonna end up somewhere, possibly Miami with Giannis or.
00:23:14
Speaker 3: Golden State stuff, not Cleveland got home, don't you wish? Like Lebron was kind of waiting for the Giannis to leave the stage, and now he's like everything, Like maybe they could have been speculating about Lebron's next team and given us a break from the constant Yiannis talk.
00:23:28
Speaker 5: He needs the spot There is a sense of him that like, I'm not as much of a quote unquote you know, some guys always have been like Lebron aters or Lebron whatever. Lebron's had a great career. I think it stands on its own. He's never really been in trouble. But I understand the idea that he likes to be in the spotlight a little bit. There's a little bit of narcissism there. He likes the idea that people are talking about him. I think when he's in the seventies, we're gonna have a decision point eight for like what retirement home he is going to be. And you know he's I'm taking my talents at carl Gables. I think there is a little bit of that, Yeah, the Pines of mar Gables.
00:24:04
Speaker 6: So the question that I have is if he ends up in Miami, how does that work with him and John and Bam.
00:24:12
Speaker 3: I don't think it does.
00:24:14
Speaker 6: And then do the does does pat Riley then have to take on you know, Brownie and tanasas in this part of the Baby Derby?
00:24:23
Speaker 8: And uh, what are the other two brothers names? Alex and Alex is signed and playing Greece again Curly Joe or the new Curly Joe.
00:24:34
Speaker 6: Yeah, so that's percolating.
00:24:37
Speaker 3: The World Cup is going on.
00:24:39
Speaker 6: We've been talking about us place tonight, big match tonight at seven o'clock. That's almost like split screen. That's some that's something that would compete against the Brewers game.
00:24:47
Speaker 8: Yeah, and they take on Bosniy and Herzegovinia, which of course is where the Milwaukee MESSI plays This twenty one year old kid and I armined what's his name? I don't want to put you there's a lot of syllables there, but it's the kid who grows up in Wisconsin. He came up through the Milwaukee Wave youth program. Probably could have made Team USA. He was on the twenty one and under us a team, but decided to go where his parents came from, you know, obviously very close to their roots.
00:25:11
Speaker 5: S Mere, I'm gonna do my best here. This is Slavic s Mere by Iraqchra.
00:25:19
Speaker 3: Interesting. I think you're right. Yeah, it's an interesting vibe though.
00:25:22
Speaker 8: I mean, he he came up, he's gonna be going up against his former teammates in a lot of cases tonight.
00:25:26
Speaker 3: Yeah.
00:25:27
Speaker 6: He's from Appleton, Yeah, from Appleton, played with Wave, the Wave, the names on the back of the jerseys.
00:25:33
Speaker 3: That'll be like a scrabble three hundred pointer with all those letters right back like that down his leg.
00:25:39
Speaker 5: Is he gonna find a way to put the little apostrophy on this, you know?
00:25:43
Speaker 7: Ye?
00:25:43
Speaker 5: Yeah?
00:25:44
Speaker 3: A lot for German Germany, that's right. Class Wow, So got that going on? Got the Brewers? Who are you know? It was?
00:25:53
Speaker 6: They've recovered from their weekend lost to the Cubs in two out of three of the Cubs.
00:25:57
Speaker 8: They've recovered two things. I mean, Bowers, what a godsend he has been. You know, this is a guy that really couldn't find himself five six different clubs and he comes here and he's been so solid. Fifteen home runs. But Cherio hit his tenth home run of the month. Wow last night. What's the record Drew? Do you know, uh for home runs in the months for the Brewers?
00:26:16
Speaker 5: Yeah?
00:26:16
Speaker 3: Great question. That's got to be close, right, ten in a month.
00:26:19
Speaker 5: I don't know about Russell Brandon that one month Russell Brandon.
00:26:22
Speaker 6: Had like though he went I mean didn't know. Didn't Terrang just hit like ten or twelve in August last year. I think you're right, yeah, I think you might have short term memory. I mean, yeah, he was up there. Thames hit had a month where he went off like in April thirteen.
00:26:37
Speaker 5: Apparently the record shared by two players. You go, you want to guess one was in seven? What was in nineteen? How about Ryansfielder Prince Fielder's one of nineteen? Yeah, that's a good guess, but it wasn't Ryan Brown, Yalotsfielder and yellots Yes, yes, so.
00:26:52
Speaker 3: There you go.
00:26:53
Speaker 5: Gorman had twelve in August of seventy nine, so he was close.
00:26:57
Speaker 6: That was a big here you go, all right, Yeah, so there you have it, though, that's a pretty good month.
00:27:03
Speaker 5: Ugh and Bits also had twelve ninety nine, but thirteen is the record shared by yell achenfielder.
00:27:08
Speaker 8: Love Burnit's do you remember when the Brewce used to have post game award or post season awards and they do it. Yeah, as a fister, And one year we got invited, Karen and I we were talking about this morning. Karen Del Sandra and I got invited to present the home run Champion of the Year and Bernits won it.
00:27:24
Speaker 3: And so we were up and Jeremy Burnett's and a screen.
00:27:26
Speaker 8: Races up behind us and he's sitting in his backyard in San Diego. I want to say, thanks, Karen, it's got this is a great honor, and he's and then he goes It's like we're at the Academy Awards, but he could not be present, so we accepted in his honor.
00:27:37
Speaker 5: I just love the idea that he used to add those teams.
00:27:39
Speaker 3: But Diamond Dinner. It used to have the Diamond Dinner in the middle of the winter, and yeah.
00:27:43
Speaker 8: Yeah, I still have a Brewers briefcase that I used to this day that they gave me to for being there that night.
00:27:47
Speaker 3: I was Van Wagoner, Van Wagner, great man. It wasn't open to the public, was it, I don't know. Oh, yeah, Diamond Dinner was open. It was.
00:27:54
Speaker 8: It was like at the Fister was at the Fister Ballroom. I know our table was Rod Carew and his wife. Jeff Lincoln's was there.
00:28:01
Speaker 1: Chucky Cary was there at our table with us.
00:28:04
Speaker 3: It was a thrill for me to tell you that being around all these it was for fun. I remember my pal they brought in. They'd bring in a speaker, like the honorary speaker at MC kind of thing. Or But one year was Tim kirkch That was the year I was in the building that year.
00:28:17
Speaker 6: He was fantastic, hilarious And I still talked him about that because the birds flew him in and he was He got on the plane and he was the only person on the plane from Baltimore Midwest Midwest Express back when you know, shout out the Midwest Express. But yeah, he still tells that story like it was like they send him a private jet. It was a commercial flight, but he was the only person on the Baltimore to Milwaukee flight.
00:28:38
Speaker 5: That is unheard of now, I mean, to be the only person on a flight is.
00:28:41
Speaker 3: Like he was talking about how uncomfortable it was, Like the flight attendants like they just like sit down, you know what I think? No, I'm good, all right. Then they're just kind of chilling one person to take there. I'm surprised didn't cancel of flight. Did they give him the speech? The safety speech one guy gets individually.
00:28:58
Speaker 8: I bet they doted over a plane where there's been only one or two people.
00:29:01
Speaker 3: I have really never I mean not these days. That's nearly no impossible. But I had a couple of those my radio career.
00:29:09
Speaker 8: I had to do mornings on Christmas Day in California and I was I got went through Phoenix on the way back to Iowa and uh, two of us on an America West flight.
00:29:17
Speaker 3: Remember that airline, America West.
00:29:19
Speaker 8: Yeah, so that it was two of us and that was an airline that had free it was free cocktails on America West.
00:29:28
Speaker 5: You got a bottle service. You could have got bottle.
00:29:30
Speaker 3: Service, free drinks all the way back to Cedar Rapids. It was amazing. Two weeks.
00:29:35
Speaker 6: Wow, all right, So it's like, what's the old school airline that you flew. America West would be one. Did you ever fly pan Am? I don't think I ever flew Never dam t w as World because a lot of times you'd connect through Saint Louis right on t w A. That's right back when there was a Northwest Airlines. That was my big carrier.
00:29:52
Speaker 5: Yeah, Northwest and Midwest Express, US Air yeah, US Air Continental.
00:29:57
Speaker 3: Oh yeah.
00:29:58
Speaker 8: Now they're all around as parts of mergers. But Northwest. I missed Northwest because you could fly direct to Memphis.
00:30:05
Speaker 3: You can't do that anymore, right, No, Alleghany Air was one, probably hall Lies that just appeared when he went to the airport. No I drove, you know, you drove the plane. Yeah, mostly I drove. No, I drove cars, the gigs, the gigs I have that were the airplanes didn't go there.
00:30:20
Speaker 5: Right.
00:30:22
Speaker 6: Toby always says most people drive. Most people drive forty five minutes to work, eight hours. He would drive eight hours to work forty five minutes. I'm going to show business. There's no shortcuts in this world.
00:30:32
Speaker 3: No, absolutely, not absolutely.
00:30:34
Speaker 5: The other I mean there were some other regional I remember a story from Bill Bobbs Airline. Yeah, Bob's just kind of early. No, there was North Central was the was the airline that that was? Bill Curry told the story that he was late for his first practice with the packers with Lombardy, and he told them that because of your plane being late, I'll be late for my first meeting with Vince Lombardi and I'm gonna tell him it's your fault. And they rented him a private plane, the Beautiful. He told that story on some NFL films thing.
00:31:02
Speaker 8: Yeah, I remember flying Value Jet many years ago. They became air Tran and now both of those are gone, right, airund Spirit, I.
00:31:11
Speaker 3: Mean Spirit, Spirit, Frontier. Yeah, I think Frontier's still flying though Pirit Airline. You don't buy a ticket, you buy a chance. Let's roll that ice. I tell you Spirit was underappreciated, wasn't that? Ball asked Rifts dumb question speaking of Green Bay, who was austin strable? Anybody know? I don't know. I have no clue, Joe, look it up here for you.
00:31:33
Speaker 6: I mean, I guess I would guess like military hero or something like Billy Mitchell, Right, that's Billy Mitchell.
00:31:38
Speaker 8: Yeah, I don't know Billy Mitchell Field here in Milwaukee. Austin Strable is a name that sounds like he's probably in college today.
00:31:45
Speaker 3: Yeah, it sounds like a name that's either a golfer.
00:31:47
Speaker 5: Yeah, Lieutenant Colonel Austin Strable, major in the U. S. Army Air Force from Green Bay. Uh. It was Brown County's first aviation loss of World War Two. So World War there you go, there you go. It makes it makes sense. The more you know civic info from the yester morning, you learn stuff there. You learn stuff there.
00:32:06
Speaker 3: All right.
00:32:06
Speaker 6: So, because I haven't had Dobe on the air in a while with us every day halftime reporter, but uh, Dobe, I want to offer my condolences because you're one of your good friends. Tom Dreeson passed recently, the legendary Tom Basons. Old enough to remember Tom yeahs being on the Tonight Show all the time.
00:32:23
Speaker 3: The picture and we're in a Dodgers uniform. I work with him as a fundraiser in Los Angeles area last year and he was eighty five. He looked forty five, never a pound overweight. Super nice guy. And I have a Facebook group that mentors young comedians and he was always said, you know, I send people, ask me I sent him to your group. And before he passed away, he sent me a letter said, hey, I keep me in the happy in the same schedule, take you out to dinner and were never in the same town. So he sent me a hundred dollars. Brothers said you won't appetite, buddy, eat on me, and two weeks later he passed away. Believable, very sad face.
00:32:55
Speaker 6: Fifteen years opening for Sinatra and the stories that he had exactly.
00:33:00
Speaker 8: I just always look forward when he was going to be on something that was going to be watching. Maybe he just his energy was non stop the whole time he came out, and he always had a smile on his face, always brought his a game, was always enjoyable to watch.
00:33:12
Speaker 3: That's sad news. Yeah, think about this real quickly. I mean people, I wonder what it's like to be a comedian. He was opening for Frank Sinatra in twenty thousand Seed arenas, and that one of those people were there to see him, and sometimes Frank was in a mood. Tommy, I needed to do fifteen minutes. Then Tommy, I needed to do eight minutes. Tommy, I need to do twenty five minutes, So you got to on the fly, just switch up adjust because mister Sinatra, and he always called him mister Sinatra, said what he wanted. So his degree of difficulty on the scale of one to ten was a seventy four. And he pulled it off. And you never knew that. He was very nice. Yeah, he was awesome, Just a total Hall of Famer, the ambassador of comedy. Can't say enough good things. Thanks for ing me as much. I know that that one hits you because it's like yeah, and he was a copy. He was about too. And last year when the Cubs lost to the Brewers, he called me and congratulated and said, you know what I'm hurting right now, but your team is Illinois, right, Illinois, exactly from Lou Boudreau was a player, was from Harvey as well. So every time I get a Lou Budreau baseball card, I sent him stack the.
00:34:08
Speaker 8: Good kid Lou Boudreau. I only know that from watching Cubs games as a as a child.
00:34:13
Speaker 3: The good kid.
00:34:14
Speaker 6: Lou Boudreau's grandson lives in the area of Blaine, and I've known Blaine for a long time. Yeah, absolutely, Blaine's a good guy man. One of the good ones. He's gonna get the cards because kid, Yeah, okay, yeah, and he still got a bunch of those left over. That's pretty cool. But yeah, Tom reesent like and world. I have to remember, like he was on Tonight Show. He slay and Carson loved having him, and he was always he had that cachet because he was anointed by Sinatra.
00:34:37
Speaker 3: Like here Sinatra's opening act.
00:34:38
Speaker 6: Everywhere he goes, you're performing and in the tucks and just doing a you know for people that.
00:34:43
Speaker 3: You know my bank robbery story. I almost went to prison. Blah blah blah. I was was the time I thought I was going to go to jail. I had a radio job in Reno and and uh got coming to calls me up and says, hey, your buddy Tom Reeson came through. We've got front row tickets to see Frank Sinatra Junior in Reno because we go in there and it take us right right down to the front row. And he called me up later and said, hey, kid, and I'm going through some hard times. I hope you had a good time. That's a class act. Wow, who thinks of that? Yeah you heard about it secondhand. Yeah, so you got me started out of that guy is a legend.
00:35:12
Speaker 5: Imagine that being in Frank's orbit to stories. But you have to be judicious about how you share the stories. But I'm sure everybody wants to hear a story. You better learn to drink, yeah exactly.
00:35:23
Speaker 6: Couldn't be a teetotaler in that orb Dean Martin and just like dip out and leave early and you know, yeah, I got I got a tea time, or drink apple juice instead of whisky and whiskey.
00:35:33
Speaker 3: Yeah exactly. But it just wasn't singers, right, what do you have?
00:35:36
Speaker 8: He had actors and comedians and put part of the rat pack back of.
00:35:40
Speaker 6: That whole circus. That was yah, but what's the stories? And a huge Cubs fan respect he was.
00:35:46
Speaker 3: He would sing a Southsider too, and he would throw out the first pitch.
00:35:50
Speaker 5: That is rare because he was from Harvey. So you think that's white Sox country, right, Yeah, yeah.
00:35:55
Speaker 3: Yeah, it's a weird vibe though.
00:35:57
Speaker 8: You know, my brother in law grew up on the far North Side and it's a huge Socks fan.
00:36:02
Speaker 1: You never know, it's just yeah, it's just people just rebel right, right, or you see Aj Perzinski met the Pope by the way, last week I saw that and presented him with the game ball from the final out of the Game one of the two thousand and five World Series, and the Pope he.
00:36:15
Speaker 3: Was at the game. He was at the game, he was on TV. He's like, yeah, isn't that wild? Great story?
00:36:21
Speaker 6: I have a great, a great story from that World Series when the White Sox won it. I was in the Alair clubhouse and I was at AJ Pierzinski's locker and this woman Phyllis marriage, who was the vice president of PR for the American League, saw me outside the clubus. She goes, sure, we need Aj in here. Can you tell him to come out here. I'm like, yeah, okay. So I go to his locker and there's a bunch of guys stand around. We're all He's giving us quotes. He's a good, good quote, good media guy.
00:36:43
Speaker 3: And I said, hey, A J.
00:36:43
Speaker 6: Phillis wants you in the media room to do the mass thing for everybody.
00:36:48
Speaker 3: He goes, oh, yeah, okay.
00:36:49
Speaker 6: I said, you might want to put your jersey back on, because he had like a slow He had a T shirt on with an X rated slogan on it, and he was about to walk out in a national TV. He's a good catch man, good catch. They put his jersey back on. All he soaked with champagne and he put his jersey back on. But when we go to commercial break, I'll tell you what the jersey, what the T shirt said?
00:37:07
Speaker 3: We were at the I saved AJ prisions. I love that.
00:37:10
Speaker 8: If it was brawl game between the Cubs and Socks twenty years ago.
00:37:13
Speaker 3: Yeah, you having Michael Barrett the two it was. It was amazing to be a part of.
00:37:18
Speaker 8: And you know the stadium's about ready to throw down too, because you got twenty thousand cup fans down on the south side.
00:37:23
Speaker 3: Oh that wasp, w W it was it was, it was. It was a fun day. It was fun, Dolph, Thanks for hanging out with us.
00:37:28
Speaker 6: We appreciate it as always one more day till we get the short week.
00:37:31
Speaker 3: You know, this is this billy billy some vacation. He only had to.
00:37:35
Speaker 6: Burn four vacations because that was a smart move on. He's learning from you though, he's learning. Well, I'm glad I planted that in his brain.
00:37:40
Speaker 3: Yeah, you did.
00:37:41
Speaker 6: Definitely your operation for that. You got Dolphin Country Station down the hall.
00:37:45
Speaker 3: We'll be right back.
00:37:45

Well, you're kind of you know, you live in get the Kenosha area by the state line, so you get the you're in the DMZ of Bears Packers.
00:38:55
Speaker 3: What's it like?
00:38:55
Speaker 6: The Cubs come in, they take two or three, but they have not found their way yet, and their fans are feeling great.
00:39:01
Speaker 3: What's funny? Because I was gonna gas pump and I wear my brower cap religiously that I got from you, and it's I was fun And I saw this Cubs fan He's all decked out and Cubs everything, and just gives me a glare and a snarl. I said, don't blame me. Your organization stinks. He goes, yeah, you're right.
00:39:20
Speaker 6: But then again, we began the show with a little rant because the Birds are winning. They're they're like the best record ever after eighty two games or whatever. It is, like they've reached the halfway point. They've defied the odds again. Sure, and yet people are like, they're gonna get Yo to the leadoff spot. He sucks lately. He's oh for four, oh for four again. Last night I punched out three times, and it's like it's like everybody wants everything to be perfect, right armand like we're looking at this is like, can't you just be happy they won a game.
00:39:48
Speaker 5: There's a nitpicking aspect up, but there's always something.
00:39:51
Speaker 3: Yeah.
00:39:52
Speaker 5: It's like Al McGuire one said, there are certain people that if they made Keel Wilson, they'd expect her to cook too. That's an old reference, I get it. But the idea, yes, I mean of all the great lineups, even you remember Drew I mentioned earlier, like they weren't all hitting at the same time. It's like, it's like, unless you have everyone hitting the same time, everyone's gonna say, well, what about that thing? You know, you know, I know you got to mansion, you know, but the paint on that thirty seventh window looks a little.
00:40:19
Speaker 3: Bit old, you know, Findy Crawford has a mole, Yeah, exactly.
00:40:23
Speaker 5: Stuff like that. So the Brewers obviously are playing well. Not everyone's gonna be hitting at the same time. In this lineup. Right now, Sal's getting hot, Yellich has been scuffling a bit sometimes it was terrain. Now he's figuring. So that's just the process. That's the way it works. The important thing is you have the depth of a team to try and pick each other up, because that's how you win during those moments, right, you don't rely on a couple guys. So the Brewer's been winning, that's the important thing. They're on pace right now for one hundred and one wins. Well they get there, I don't think so. They've never won one hundred games, but it's just an indication of how well.
00:40:53
Speaker 6: They've done here in this first exactly. And some people it's their default setting. And in the social media you're a negativity move the needle, so it's like that's the thing. But when Craig Council played for the Brewers, his nickname was a grumpy Rooster because he'd come in with his hair all messed up and stuff for spring training and he's usually kind of grumpy.
00:41:10
Speaker 3: That's what was his kind of.
00:41:11
Speaker 6: His default setting, right, BJ Sirhoff when he played for the Brewers, Phil Garner nicknamed him mister Happy because he never smiled. He was never he was always very dowry, mister Happy. He's like, yep, BJ could win the lottery and then bitch about having to pay taxes and they're like, yeah, that's how it is.
00:41:27
Speaker 3: That's how he that's how people are wired.
00:41:29
Speaker 6: But in this day and age, Dobe, it's like those people are winning, those people that are always negative. Badger's going to hire a new ad and he's got state roots. He's went to Whitewater, he's from you know, I don't even remember, some small town in Instead of being happy like.
00:41:41
Speaker 3: This sucks is terrible. He was awful at Nebraska. They should have got somebody better. He hasn't even gotten the job yet.
00:41:45
Speaker 6: I haven't even announced it officially yet, but people want to be the first to say he's gonna suck your boy.
00:41:51
Speaker 3: Art Kabilowski is very high on this guy. I think he's gonna do a great yet.
00:41:53
Speaker 6: I think, yeah, good he might let him do it. Give him a chance. That's the thing.
00:41:58
Speaker 3: Oh my goodness.

00:41:45
