Interview with Spoonfed - Developer of Grim

WEBVTT
00:00:00.461 --> 00:00:11.032
Welcome to another episode of Rough Talk VR, a weekly podcast with in-depth game reviews, exclusive developer interviews and the latest metaquest and virtual reality news.
00:00:11.032 --> 00:00:20.932
We join our hosts, the father-son team of D Scruffles and Stratus, today as they spend another episode breaking down and discussing the world of virtual reality.
00:00:21.719 --> 00:00:23.387
Hey, welcome to this episode of Rough Talk, vr.
00:00:23.387 --> 00:00:27.044
Today we have one that I can already see your smile going.
00:00:27.044 --> 00:00:37.191
This is the most selfish wish list guest ever for me, yeah when we talk about bucket list guests, our guest today is definitely on there.
00:00:37.212 --> 00:00:42.945
This is one that I honestly didn't think I figured I'd run into Bigfoot in a while before we'd ever get to talk to this man himself.
00:00:43.228 --> 00:00:44.072
Absolutely, absolutely.
00:00:44.072 --> 00:00:56.552
So, before we get carried away on it, today we're joined with spoon fed, the developer of grim the legend, an upcoming vr game that reminiscent of rust features but takes place on mars.
00:00:56.552 --> 00:00:58.417
Yeah, and we've recently gotten access.
00:00:58.417 --> 00:01:00.386
Yeah, we've been hyping it up for months.
00:01:00.445 --> 00:01:08.733
Just off of concept, we're talking about it since we first heard about it yeah and I'm not shutting up but spoon, you know he does much more than just grim.
00:01:08.733 --> 00:01:11.081
He's a member of the combat waffle studios team.
00:01:11.081 --> 00:01:12.625
He's done work on ghosts of zabor.
00:01:12.625 --> 00:01:14.609
He's done work with swordsman vr.
00:01:14.629 --> 00:01:20.911
He's quite the developer he's legit, a legend in the the vr programming world.
00:01:20.911 --> 00:01:22.453
Yes, you got a problem.
00:01:22.474 --> 00:01:28.567
This is the guy that you wish you had on payroll so to take to say we're pumped is an understatement, so be.
00:01:28.567 --> 00:01:32.364
This interview isn't for me, though this is for you know our guests today.
00:01:32.364 --> 00:01:34.751
So, spoon, do you mind introducing yourself a little bit more?
00:01:34.751 --> 00:01:40.945
Uh for the guests and just tell them what exactly you do uh, I'm boone.
00:01:41.126 --> 00:01:43.188
I work for Combat Waffle.
00:01:43.188 --> 00:01:51.456
I was the lead developer on or not lead senior developer on Tabor for a while.
00:01:51.456 --> 00:01:59.870
Scott somehow convinced me to bring Grim to market, so now I just work on Grim full time.
00:02:01.379 --> 00:02:09.526
And it's my understanding that Grim was something that you've been working on for a while as a little side project.
00:02:09.526 --> 00:02:10.949
Is that right a little?
00:02:10.949 --> 00:02:17.509
Over six years on and off wow, and where did the concept for the game come from?
00:02:17.509 --> 00:02:19.822
Are you like a long time rust?
00:02:19.961 --> 00:02:20.483
fanatic.
00:02:20.483 --> 00:02:24.710
I've always wanted to know that, like Like was Rust your jam I love Rust.
00:02:25.031 --> 00:02:28.962
Rust is probably my favorite game, and nobody.
00:02:28.962 --> 00:02:34.973
It was too big of a scale for any studio at the time to take on.
00:02:34.973 --> 00:02:51.687
Too much risk for a large scale game like that and it being only PC VR, there was no way it would ran on like a quest one well, even on today's version.
00:02:52.269 --> 00:02:59.031
Just walking through it on pcvr, I'm like wow, the fact that this is going to be on the quest is, yeah, that's pretty amazing.
00:02:59.031 --> 00:03:06.832
But were you professionally working in the vr industry yet when you started, I guess, construction of Grimm?
00:03:09.485 --> 00:03:16.088
No, I was working in sales, actually, and I had my own office.
00:03:16.088 --> 00:03:32.292
I answered emails Nobody ever bothered me on my phone and I would work on either PokeQuest, which is one of my other games, or Grimm, depending on which one I was burnt out on at the time.
00:03:34.641 --> 00:03:42.969
So how did that go from, I guess, a hobby thing doing during the sales gig to now you're working for VR Studios?
00:03:47.942 --> 00:03:51.572
I had seen a job posting and it was somebody I had recognized.
00:03:51.572 --> 00:03:59.151
It was Alex Sin at Sin Studio and I had helped him previously on another developer Discord and I reached out.
00:03:59.151 --> 00:04:02.748
I was like, hey, I heard you're looking for another developer.
00:04:02.748 --> 00:04:03.752
I'm kind of interested.
00:04:03.752 --> 00:04:07.367
He was immediately interested.
00:04:07.367 --> 00:04:16.870
At that point they put me on like a trial basis for like a month I think, and a week into it they just hired me directly on.
00:04:16.870 --> 00:04:24.769
So that's kind of how I got into the door, because everything before that was just hobby.
00:04:27.502 --> 00:04:34.120
And completely self-taught, that was my next question yeah yeah, uh, you're just like watching unity videos uh, on youtube.
00:04:34.120 --> 00:04:35.502
You know how did this this all?
00:04:36.442 --> 00:04:37.504
this started back.
00:04:37.504 --> 00:04:41.788
I was 13 at the time.
00:04:41.788 --> 00:04:46.033
I think there was a playstation game called uh socom.
00:04:46.033 --> 00:05:02.266
Uh, there was a cheater on it and he had a cheat device that could bypass sony's uh dnas protocols that, like the game sharks and stuff couldn't get online with, and I wanted to do it.
00:05:02.266 --> 00:05:12.608
So I I went to books a million and I bought a c++ for dummies book and it turned out it was uh, it wasn't even in c++.
00:05:12.608 --> 00:05:14.392
I couldn't even do anything with it.
00:05:14.392 --> 00:05:16.182
So at the time it was kind of a waste.
00:05:16.182 --> 00:05:17.024
But that's kind of.
00:05:17.064 --> 00:05:33.406
What got me interested in programming was because I wanted to cheat on a video game well, that's actually pretty funny, coming full circle to the news that, you know, ghost of Tabor put out the other week with, like, their new anti-cheat system to to van.
00:05:33.406 --> 00:05:36.687
But you know, hey, it's sometimes that's.
00:05:36.687 --> 00:05:39.324
All you need is the passion for it and to come full circle with it.
00:05:39.324 --> 00:05:39.584
Now.
00:05:39.584 --> 00:05:43.134
Unreal Engine that uses C++, right, yeah.
00:05:43.293 --> 00:05:46.658
Yeah, so might not have worked with socom.
00:05:46.658 --> 00:05:49.023
It definitely helped you help you with.
00:05:49.043 --> 00:05:57.161
This started in uh source engine, which was also c++, and I did a lot of modding and source engine.
00:05:57.161 --> 00:06:10.197
Uh, I did a little bit in cry engine and I was in Unity for a while and I was working on a Counter-Strike-style VR shooter in Unity.
00:06:10.197 --> 00:06:15.267
And then Pavlov released and I was like, well, that's kind of dead now.
00:06:17.882 --> 00:06:25.543
And Unreal Engine released and I started working in Unreal and haven't looked back, so you can also code in C sharp as well.
00:06:25.725 --> 00:06:25.944
Yeah.
00:06:27.908 --> 00:06:28.651
Very talented.
00:06:28.750 --> 00:06:32.221
Yeah, I'm just, I'm like I'm like in self-taught too, it's.
00:06:32.221 --> 00:06:44.593
That's the part that makes it even more more crazy, yeah, but I also feel like if you self learn something, it's because you really want to learn it, because you're being forced to just go through the motions.
00:06:44.593 --> 00:06:48.110
But no, your work, my understanding, is legendary.
00:06:48.110 --> 00:07:06.312
If there's a problem, you have a talent for being able to spot the reason why, or being able to look in some Matrix-type vision and seize the anomaly in what I can only imagine is just millions of pieces of code to go through to find an issue.
00:07:06.312 --> 00:07:09.189
So I mean, that in itself is just absolutely mind-boggling.
00:07:09.519 --> 00:07:11.553
Well, he says, alec jumped on the opportunity.
00:07:11.553 --> 00:07:12.238
There's a reason.
00:07:12.761 --> 00:07:13.923
When you reached out about it.
00:07:13.923 --> 00:07:18.153
That's probably based on the results of the past work you all did.
00:07:18.153 --> 00:07:20.547
So, geez, I have so many questions.
00:07:20.547 --> 00:07:23.487
You know it's kind of hard to pick a place of where to go to.
00:07:23.487 --> 00:07:24.690
No, just feet first.
00:07:24.690 --> 00:07:25.721
Go to questions.
00:07:25.721 --> 00:07:27.043
You know it's kind of hard to pick a place of of where to go to.
00:07:27.043 --> 00:07:27.283
No, just be.
00:07:27.283 --> 00:07:27.543
Go to next.
00:07:27.543 --> 00:07:28.286
Yeah, but but we'll continue down it.
00:07:28.286 --> 00:07:36.982
So you start working at sin studio, probably still working on pokey quest as well, because my understanding you don't freaking sleep, it's just all day developing.
00:07:36.982 --> 00:07:39.985
Uh, at what point do you go?
00:07:39.985 --> 00:07:45.814
Yeah, how long were you at Studio and how did that lead into Combat Waffle Studios with Ghost of Tabor?
00:07:47.882 --> 00:07:56.795
When I started at Sin Studio I didn't want to jump directly into game development because I wasn't sure.
00:07:56.795 --> 00:08:00.129
I have a kid, I have a family, I have a mortgage.
00:08:00.129 --> 00:08:07.334
I did not want to jump directly into something that I didn't know if I would be doing it again.
00:08:07.334 --> 00:08:10.862
So I actually.
00:08:10.862 --> 00:08:26.293
I worked 30 hours a week when I started and I also stayed at my four hour a week job, so I was splitting between the two because I was doing my hobby stuff late at night.
00:08:26.293 --> 00:08:30.146
So it was no different for me, just different project.
00:08:31.880 --> 00:08:34.990
And now you're getting paid for it as a professional job.
00:08:34.990 --> 00:08:52.248
So this is funny to me because I've always heard your work schedule is basically you work all day on Ghost of Tabor and then you work all night on Grimm, and it sounds like that's exactly how it was for you from the start of your professional game development.
00:08:52.248 --> 00:08:59.270
You're working all day in sales your full-time job and then putting in 30 hours a week on another job.
00:08:59.530 --> 00:09:01.446
Yeah, that's quite incredible.
00:09:01.446 --> 00:09:08.133
So how did you meet Scott and how did that lead in to you know you at Combat Waffle?
00:09:09.962 --> 00:09:10.725
Same Discord.
00:09:10.725 --> 00:09:11.784
I met Alec in.
00:09:11.784 --> 00:09:16.349
I had Ray.
00:09:16.349 --> 00:09:19.782
Y'all know Ray he.
00:09:19.782 --> 00:09:25.240
He had needed some help and I kind of helped behind the scenes with stuff on Tabor.
00:09:25.240 --> 00:09:31.552
If they got stuck they would message me and ask me before I even got hired.
00:09:31.552 --> 00:09:34.087
And one day it was actually my kid's birthday.
00:09:34.087 --> 00:09:41.788
We were getting ready to go somewhere I think Trampoline Park or something and I was helping Ray with something.
00:09:41.788 --> 00:09:47.446
I was like, just hire me, I'll do it, just kind of joking.
00:09:47.446 --> 00:09:52.427
And 10 minutes later I was on an interview with Scott and he offered me a job.
00:09:52.427 --> 00:09:54.485
Couldn't pass it up.
00:09:54.485 --> 00:10:00.591
I felt bad the whole weekend to think about it.
00:10:00.591 --> 00:10:09.005
I was comfortable where I was at Everyone at Sin Studio I like, I still like, like, I still like alex, still like almer, all of them all good people.
00:10:09.005 --> 00:10:12.581
Uh, it's just an opportunity that I couldn't pass up.
00:10:12.660 --> 00:10:17.431
So no, professionally I mean it.
00:10:17.431 --> 00:10:18.452
It makes sense.
00:10:18.452 --> 00:10:26.721
And now seeing that you're able to devote a lot of time into to grim it, just I mean I'm like I'm smiling because I'm a consumer.
00:10:26.721 --> 00:10:37.052
So I'm like okay, makes me happier, you know, maybe it'd be coming out sooner, sooner this path than if a different path was chosen and it's funny how life works sometimes.
00:10:37.072 --> 00:10:42.942
You have to be careful what you joke about, because you know you don't know, what's gonna gonna happen, put it in the universe from it.
00:10:42.942 --> 00:10:46.469
So just for my own curiosity, what was the point that you kicked the can on?
00:10:46.469 --> 00:10:49.293
You know the old job, the old sales job.
00:10:49.293 --> 00:10:50.803
Don't tell me you still do it.
00:10:51.527 --> 00:10:52.068
No, no.
00:10:52.068 --> 00:11:02.270
It's got to the point where I was just so tired Like I couldn't keep getting, like I still do this.
00:11:02.270 --> 00:11:25.649
Sitting in an office every day just made me more tired, probably three months into Syn Studio when I left my job, where I kind of felt that, hey, I can just do this full time, I don't have to hopefully worry about getting fired next week and living in a box.
00:11:27.712 --> 00:11:28.602
Yeah, there's always that feeling.
00:11:28.602 --> 00:11:31.403
When you start something new, you're like is this real?
00:11:31.403 --> 00:11:31.745
Yet?
00:11:31.745 --> 00:11:34.788
I know it's real, it's, it's happening, but is that?
00:11:34.889 --> 00:11:35.514
ending tomorrow.
00:11:35.514 --> 00:11:36.706
I still have that.
00:11:36.706 --> 00:11:38.080
I still have that.
00:11:38.080 --> 00:11:41.730
I'm going to wake up and I'm going to have to go work at McDonald's tomorrow.
00:11:47.480 --> 00:11:50.349
Like even have to go work at mcdonald's tomorrow, like even this far into it, the imposter syndrome never really goes away.
00:11:50.349 --> 00:11:51.413
Uh, in, in that regard, that's for sure.
00:11:51.413 --> 00:11:53.519
I guess that's probably because it's so surreal.
00:11:53.519 --> 00:11:55.905
I mean it sounds like you're doing what you love.
00:11:55.905 --> 00:12:00.082
You know what you would do as a hobby if you know money wasn't even a thing.
00:12:00.082 --> 00:12:05.073
So I'm sure there's a little bit of that surreal aspect to the last couple years as well.
00:12:05.073 --> 00:12:17.950
And then, uh, so at this point in time I mentioned before that you know I've always heard you work a lot on Ghost of Tabor and on Grimm, but Grimm's pretty polished.
00:12:17.950 --> 00:12:22.144
On what I'm playing on PC VR, I gotta imagine it's pretty far into the development.
00:12:22.144 --> 00:12:26.594
What's your split like at this point with Ghost of Tabor and Grimm?
00:12:27.821 --> 00:12:29.908
I don't really do anything on Tabor anymore.
00:12:29.908 --> 00:12:37.563
I haven't really worked Tabor since probably December.
00:12:40.191 --> 00:12:46.868
Alright, and is that because of how far along Grimm is, or does it just for it to become a thing it just needs?
00:12:46.868 --> 00:12:48.392
Needs that much, like all of your attention.
00:12:49.042 --> 00:12:50.206
It needs all of my attention.
00:12:50.206 --> 00:12:58.173
Like I'm on a timeline for Grim so I can't put a lot of focus on Tabor.
00:12:58.173 --> 00:13:04.089
They to me if they have any issues or need to figure something out or need help with something.
00:13:04.089 --> 00:13:10.719
Outside of that I don't really do a whole lot with support now I'm sure that's well.
00:13:10.899 --> 00:13:11.942
It should be noted too.
00:13:11.942 --> 00:13:12.403
You're not.
00:13:12.403 --> 00:13:15.789
You're still working smallest team possible, right?
00:13:16.711 --> 00:13:22.407
yeah, it's just me and two artists I.
00:13:22.586 --> 00:13:30.183
I heard somebody in the in your discord once and they were asking why, and then scott chimed in and said it's because you don't.
00:13:30.183 --> 00:13:31.967
You don't actually want the.
00:13:31.967 --> 00:13:39.273
I don't want the extra help, but I heard you give a break if something goes wrong, you know where to find it exactly.
00:13:39.293 --> 00:13:39.740
who did it?
00:13:39.740 --> 00:13:43.467
So I I kind of understood at that moment like all all, right, I get it.
00:13:43.467 --> 00:13:45.331
You got 10 people in your program.
00:13:45.331 --> 00:13:48.206
Something breaks, now you got to go find it from.
00:13:48.206 --> 00:13:50.325
So it makes sense.
00:13:50.325 --> 00:13:53.167
But I just can't believe you're doing this by yourself, dude.
00:13:53.607 --> 00:13:54.490
Too many hands.
00:13:55.301 --> 00:14:02.543
What I've stepped into is like this is a humongous world, and how long have those other two people been a part of the project?
00:14:02.543 --> 00:14:03.644
Are they like recent people?
00:14:03.644 --> 00:14:05.785
Have they been around since you know?
00:14:05.826 --> 00:14:06.405
years.
00:14:06.405 --> 00:14:17.397
One of them, I think, october of last year, and then one beginning of this year, and I'm currently looking to bring on another artist.
00:14:17.397 --> 00:14:20.779
No developers, just another artist.
00:14:21.659 --> 00:14:22.784
Is the reason Discord's going to blow up?
00:14:22.784 --> 00:14:29.368
Yeah, is the reason for the artist like for, like, optimizing reasons, or is that just an area that you're not comfortable with?
00:14:29.548 --> 00:14:30.471
I'm not good at art.
00:14:30.471 --> 00:14:40.833
If if I did art, you would see a bunch of stick figures running around and crayoned rocks everywhere so it's kind of a thing of like I can do everything else.
00:14:41.176 --> 00:14:44.727
It's just this is the one thing I can't do, so three people on that.
00:14:44.727 --> 00:14:45.471
You know.
00:14:45.471 --> 00:14:47.570
Everything else I'll take care of that makes sense.
00:14:47.791 --> 00:14:49.720
It's also important to know your own limitations.
00:14:49.720 --> 00:14:51.364
That's how some people fuck up.
00:14:51.364 --> 00:14:52.547
You know they.
00:14:52.547 --> 00:14:56.206
They think they're good at everything when they're not being honest with themselves.
00:14:56.206 --> 00:15:02.966
Yeah, so at least you know your strongest points and you're willing to stick with them I could probably do art, but I don't have time.
00:15:02.966 --> 00:15:06.033
How many hours?
00:15:06.033 --> 00:15:09.708
Because in my head you're working 20 hours a day.
00:15:09.708 --> 00:15:11.264
That's just how I do it.
00:15:11.264 --> 00:15:17.086
You're on the Elon Musk schedule of time frame, but what is the legit hour?
00:15:17.086 --> 00:15:17.708
Work week?
00:15:21.042 --> 00:15:22.707
And this is seven days a week.
00:15:22.707 --> 00:15:26.182
I don't work five days, I work all seven days a week.
00:15:26.182 --> 00:15:27.342
I don't work five days, I work all seven days.
00:15:27.342 --> 00:15:34.469
My schedule is typically get up at 7.30, start working at 8.
00:15:34.469 --> 00:15:42.256
Depending on how things go, I usually stop around 6 or 7 pm.
00:15:42.256 --> 00:15:55.407
Around 6 or 7 pm I spend time with Emily till my wife pretty much falls asleep around 10 or 11 o'clock and then I'm back on the computer until 3 am and then go to sleep.
00:15:55.407 --> 00:16:00.065
Well, not really go to sleep, black out and then wake up and do it again.
00:16:01.403 --> 00:16:04.908
Probably dreaming of code and things that you want to implement.
00:16:04.908 --> 00:16:06.861
It's actually like a half sleep.
00:16:06.861 --> 00:16:07.945
I hope my wife gets.
00:16:09.047 --> 00:16:17.211
My wife gets so mad because we'll be watching something on tv and I'll something will pop into my head and I'll get up and she's like where are you going?
00:16:17.211 --> 00:16:18.863
I'm like I gotta go to the computer.
00:16:18.863 --> 00:16:19.865
I have to fix this.
00:16:19.904 --> 00:16:25.466
I just remembered but that's a story that you'll hear, regardless of industry, from.
00:16:25.466 --> 00:16:26.961
You know great creative people.
00:16:26.961 --> 00:16:28.085
You'll hear that from writers.
00:16:28.144 --> 00:16:35.011
You'll hear that from musicians, you can't turn it off no, when you think of the thought you got to do it in that moment it might be gone, you know.
00:16:35.011 --> 00:16:47.947
So I I completely understand that, and obviously you were hired for ghost of tabor, but it sounds like at some point people inside Combat Waffle became aware of Grimm.
00:16:47.947 --> 00:16:49.625
So how did that happen?
00:16:49.625 --> 00:16:57.860
Was it you just kind of talking, say, hey, scott, you know, just so you know, I have this project as well, I just happen to have kind of a Rust in VR situation going on here.
00:16:58.081 --> 00:16:59.379
Yeah, how did it become known?
00:16:59.379 --> 00:17:03.902
I didn't go to Scott, scott came to me for it.
00:17:03.902 --> 00:17:05.363
I didn't go to Scott, scott came to me for it.
00:17:05.363 --> 00:17:37.608
Soul had tried it, a couple other, I think ZStorm short stacks, and I don't know who initially showed it to Scott, or maybe I did and I just don't remember it from lack of sleep, but he hounded me for a while because he wanted me to be able to release it, which at the time I'd never planned on releasing it within a.
00:17:37.669 --> 00:17:46.023
I wanted to put four more years into it before I ever showed it to the public, really, and it was only going to be PC VR at the time.
00:17:47.555 --> 00:17:50.565
Were you stubborn on adding the quest to that list.
00:17:51.336 --> 00:18:01.125
Yes, because I wanted to push the game forward with the scale which at the time there was no map in VR that size.
00:18:01.125 --> 00:18:10.862
Now there's Contractor Showdown, which their map is slightly smaller than mine because of the uh, the ocean kind of the shape.
00:18:10.862 --> 00:18:14.001
It's not as much playable area as the Mars map.
00:18:14.301 --> 00:18:15.183
And it shrinks fast.
00:18:15.986 --> 00:18:18.121
Yes, yes, it's not persistent.
00:18:20.036 --> 00:18:27.045
I feel like that that's a big reason that they can get away with it so easily because, like I don't think the game has to load the entire map, the whole game.
00:18:27.045 --> 00:18:28.458
It only has to load it.
00:18:28.458 --> 00:18:28.778
For what?
00:18:28.778 --> 00:18:32.743
A couple minutes before I mean the second you load it, the zone's already shrinking.
00:18:33.394 --> 00:18:38.220
And we question that with whether the ocean was included in the map size, but I would assume it is.
00:18:38.875 --> 00:18:46.020
And at this time, if I'm not crazy, grim was not the Mars setting right, it was more of like that classic Rust setting.
00:18:46.080 --> 00:18:50.044
Yeah yeah, I'm still on the fence.
00:18:50.044 --> 00:18:52.266
The island's coming back at some point.
00:18:52.266 --> 00:18:55.488
My heart is on the island.
00:18:55.488 --> 00:19:00.951
The Mars map was like to be able to go to Quest.
00:19:05.736 --> 00:19:13.119
I couldn't do an island at the scale that I wanted to do, so there's still that part of you that I'm always thinking about the island.
00:19:14.700 --> 00:19:29.884
So is there a possible scenario where Mars could exist on PCVR and Quest, but you could have an island in Mars on PCVR only, or would it be like an injustice to the I haven't.
00:19:30.596 --> 00:19:32.663
I've thought about it a lot, I'm not sure.
00:19:32.663 --> 00:19:41.007
While the quest to is supported, it's kind of impossible for me to do a giant Island.
00:19:41.007 --> 00:19:43.798
It's not the quest three that holds it back, it's the quest to.
00:19:43.798 --> 00:19:45.196
Okay.
00:19:47.021 --> 00:19:56.076
I've never, wanted, uh, a game to be able to choose, to be exclusive to quest 3 more, yeah, but if the idea is to get it on quest.
00:19:56.076 --> 00:19:58.467
It's because of the amount of quest 2s on the market.
00:19:58.969 --> 00:20:03.583
So then you're limiting that it kind of it makes sense I get it ah what a struggle.
00:20:03.583 --> 00:20:05.647
As a developer, I'd really like the island.
00:20:05.647 --> 00:20:06.999
You know what the hell man.
00:20:09.449 --> 00:20:09.990
It's coming.
00:20:09.990 --> 00:20:11.115
Don't worry, it's coming.
00:20:11.635 --> 00:20:17.180
Although Mars thus far, I mean it's in development, so nothing's finished, nothing's in ice.
00:20:17.180 --> 00:20:20.383
No pun intended, but anything I see I go.
00:20:20.383 --> 00:20:21.445
Well, nothing's in stone.
00:20:21.445 --> 00:20:24.525
Anything can change at any time, I would assume.
00:20:24.525 --> 00:20:31.859
But I'm well, nothing's in stone, anything can change at any time, I would assume.
00:20:31.859 --> 00:20:33.184
But I'm freaking impressed, man, when I looked at that sun.
00:20:33.184 --> 00:20:35.311
That really blew me away because you got that haze around it and it just you can't breathe on Mars.
00:20:35.311 --> 00:20:39.672
But you could feel what that air would feel like if you could, and it would just be so uncomfortable.
00:20:39.672 --> 00:20:40.976
So the environment is good.
00:20:40.976 --> 00:20:42.599
I absolutely love the environment.
00:20:42.599 --> 00:20:45.528
There's a substantial learning curve for me.
00:20:46.075 --> 00:20:49.766
So how'd you come up with the Mars idea then to switch it to that?
00:20:49.766 --> 00:20:54.426
Was that because you were like, all right, if it's mostly rock, I can render that?
00:20:54.426 --> 00:20:56.020
How'd the Mars idea come to be?
00:20:56.634 --> 00:21:02.089
Oh, at first I was going to change it to more of a desert theme.
00:21:02.089 --> 00:21:11.589
Was going to change it to more of a desert theme and I had played a mod on Rust called Project Nova, where it took place on Mars.
00:21:11.589 --> 00:21:20.424
They essentially had the same ideas biomes, whatnot and a lot of the inspiration came from that.
00:21:23.085 --> 00:21:31.201
I love it for Mars because, as you said, there's things that work with it, like the oxygen tank, the biodomes.
00:21:31.201 --> 00:21:33.645
It creates such a unique play style.
00:21:33.645 --> 00:21:40.627
But how much did you have to change core gaming mechanic wise when you made that scenery switch to nothing?
00:21:41.048 --> 00:21:42.172
nothing, nothing, yeah.
00:21:42.172 --> 00:21:47.316
So it's just a texture and art thing even the oxygen tanks there.
00:21:47.536 --> 00:22:10.423
They were supposed to be used for swimming on the island so scuba tank yeah so they were repurposed were there going to be biodomes originally in the island, the island no, no, which I guess biodomes, is the inside of the biodome, what the original island map would look like yeah, yeah, it's all the same art from the island.
00:22:10.875 --> 00:22:15.820
So it's just a taste of Okay, it's making some sense now.
00:22:15.820 --> 00:22:17.305
This is so cool.
00:22:17.305 --> 00:22:20.019
I mean scenery-wise, in Mars.
00:22:20.019 --> 00:22:24.409
There's so much to me lore to be had based on certain buildings and structures.
00:22:25.016 --> 00:22:26.421
Advantage right right there too.
00:22:26.582 --> 00:22:39.503
Yeah, when everything's said and done, I'd like obviously the story could change, so I can't ask for anything now but, I'd love to know the story of like why certain buildings are where they are and certain structures are.
00:22:40.035 --> 00:22:43.885
So how long did it take you to concede on the quest before you're like all right, we'll do it?
00:22:46.239 --> 00:22:55.788
I don't know, a couple weeks, maybe it was shortly after, I believe he had talked to y'all on an interview about Grim and that he was trying to convince me.
00:22:55.788 --> 00:22:58.423
It wasn't really long after that.
00:23:00.375 --> 00:23:01.276
I'm glad it went the way it did.
00:23:01.276 --> 00:23:02.396
I'm glad it went the way it did.
00:23:02.396 --> 00:23:11.627
We just recently got PC VR, but we're primarily Quest standalone users and there's such a huge market of users there.
00:23:11.627 --> 00:23:28.008
I know it's painful on your end as the developer losing sleep trying to get it to work on the Quest, but what that's going to do for the VR community to have a game like this on the Quest store is going to be absolutely outrageous.
00:23:28.008 --> 00:23:33.063
I mean, I don't think people are ready for when this game hits the market.
00:23:33.904 --> 00:23:39.984
No, no, dude, and it's not a short-term investment as a player.
00:23:39.984 --> 00:23:42.542
It's like, if you really want to enjoy this, I can't.
00:23:42.542 --> 00:23:46.603
Even You're going to be doing thousands of hours.
00:23:46.875 --> 00:23:58.957
Well, I don't take it I don't take it that when grim releases that you're taking a break or anything like that, no, no, how long do you do you foresee, do you think that grim's going to be something that's like a lifelong project?
00:23:59.797 --> 00:24:01.838
uh, 15 years is my goal.
00:24:01.838 --> 00:24:02.759
After release.
00:24:02.759 --> 00:24:04.340
I want to support the game.
00:24:04.340 --> 00:24:20.271
It has always been my intention for the game, similar to how Rust released in its legacy version, was the game kind of grew as tech grew and Rust is where it's at now because the tech is there.
00:24:20.271 --> 00:24:23.698
And that's what I wanted for Grimm.
00:24:23.718 --> 00:24:42.286
As VRr tech grew, I wanted to be able to expand the game and I heard the 15 year comment before and I I couldn't freaking believe that I I know you're being like exaggerative with I couldn't believe it, but based off of what I've heard with spoon I I totally believe it, no, no it depends on who's talking yeah, oh no no, no, no.
00:24:42.467 --> 00:24:45.663
I think that that's something people should know when they go and they grab Grim.
00:24:45.663 --> 00:24:49.301
It's like this isn't something that's going to be dumped and what it is is what it is.
00:24:49.301 --> 00:24:53.364
It's like it's going to evolve, it's going to grow, as you said with the VR tech.
00:24:54.378 --> 00:24:58.338
Play it in your 50th birthday and when you retire and are getting Social.
00:24:58.338 --> 00:25:01.904
Security is when maybe it'll stop.
00:25:01.904 --> 00:25:05.171
Yeah, that's a good freaking deal and is.
00:25:05.530 --> 00:25:15.258
Obviously I'm not gonna push to get a release date or anything out of you, but, like you know, you mentioned that you have a timeline, probably set by your own crazy standards, but do you have a?
00:25:15.258 --> 00:25:20.104
A time that you would like to see grim of this year has always been the plan.
00:25:27.935 --> 00:25:30.684
It could be sooner, could be later.
00:25:30.684 --> 00:25:40.230
I don't like giving timelines because I don't want to hurt myself and force myself into releasing something that isn't ready.
00:25:42.236 --> 00:25:42.656
Would you say.
00:25:42.656 --> 00:25:49.788
The only hold up at this point is quest two well, not just quest in general.
00:25:50.250 --> 00:25:52.342
uh, quest two, quest three.
00:25:52.342 --> 00:26:04.118
Uh, quest two is going to use application space warp because it's just not strong enough to hold a map at this scale.
00:26:04.118 --> 00:26:10.650
I don't't think without it, without having to dumb down everything significantly.
00:26:10.650 --> 00:26:21.228
And my goal has always been I want the high quality for PC VR, I don't want to dumb the game down for PC VR just to support Quest.
00:26:21.228 --> 00:26:31.861
To support Quest, I'm kind of doing the opposite approach that every other developer has taken, where they take the PC VR version and they dumb it down to Quest standards, and I can't stand that.
00:26:33.875 --> 00:26:36.920
Well, it takes longer, more work, but you're doing it right.
00:26:37.214 --> 00:26:37.916
Full disclosure.
00:26:37.916 --> 00:26:40.045
I sent, spoonfed, a message.
00:26:40.045 --> 00:26:45.258
We were talking about something and I was like, oh man, it must be painful to have to dumb down your game.
00:26:45.258 --> 00:26:46.140
So I get it.
00:26:46.140 --> 00:26:47.803
I get the response.
00:26:47.803 --> 00:26:51.348
I'm not dumbing down my game just because it's going on.
00:26:51.348 --> 00:26:52.596
I'm doing the opposite.
00:26:53.378 --> 00:27:10.803
I'm like holy crap, man, but your standard, your self standards of quality and are through the roof correct uh, yeah, I've never actually played a standalone game, so I have no comparisons of what a standalone game is supposed to look like.
00:27:10.803 --> 00:27:22.443
Uh, mikhail from combat waffle has tried the quest version and he was blown away at the quality on the quest oh man, that's crazy.
00:27:22.503 --> 00:27:23.105
What do you play on?
00:27:23.105 --> 00:27:36.595
Uh index so you have no gauge of in your mind of, like, what is acceptable is probably going to be so much above what we currently see you already know it though.
00:27:36.595 --> 00:27:45.349
Oh, my goodness, and are you able to say, I guess, what the current state of the game is like on the quest, like is it bootable, or is it just a?
00:27:47.278 --> 00:27:50.022
on quest 3 it runs at 72 fps.
00:27:50.022 --> 00:27:56.594
Uh, some of the biomes can drop down to like 50 ish, which I'm not.
00:27:56.594 --> 00:28:08.164
I could turn on space warp on quest 3 and call it good, but I'm not gonna do that because I don't want to be dependent on space warp for the quest 3 this guy's such a gangster.
00:28:08.305 --> 00:28:10.809
Oh no, there's two, there's two routes you can take in life.
00:28:10.809 --> 00:28:14.266
There's the easy path and there's one with the most resistance.
00:28:14.266 --> 00:28:20.762
So we can guarantee that spoon fed is going to always take the path of the most resistance.
00:28:20.762 --> 00:28:29.586
But at the end we'll have, you know, really, I mean, from a programming standpoint, somewhat revolutionary, because no one else is taking the same approach like that.
00:28:29.726 --> 00:28:32.580
So well, I love the this is a story of.
00:28:32.580 --> 00:28:36.655
It's not like a huge academic background that you know, a bunch of hype.
00:28:36.655 --> 00:28:38.941
You're 100 results based.
00:28:38.941 --> 00:28:41.906
That's that's how you've advanced in your career.
00:28:41.906 --> 00:28:48.560
That's why, since studio sounds like they went crazy with you that, that's why it sounds like Combat Waffle and Scott, they go crazy with you there.
00:28:48.560 --> 00:28:57.121
It's because results you know and that's what you bring and from what we've played so far with Grimm, I can attest to it.
00:28:58.364 --> 00:28:59.446
Yeah, dude, there's a ton.
00:28:59.446 --> 00:29:02.083
Is there going to be a tutorial with Grimm?
00:29:02.083 --> 00:29:04.705
I just want to ask some loaded questions Now we can get to.
00:29:04.705 --> 00:29:05.589
Is there going to be a tutorial with Grim?
00:29:05.589 --> 00:29:06.413
I just want to ask some loaded questions.
00:29:06.433 --> 00:29:06.694
I'm undecided.
00:29:06.694 --> 00:29:08.321
Now we can get to the actual game itself.
00:29:09.095 --> 00:29:17.921
I kind of want to do a tutorial, but I also kind of want to force players to have to figure it out.
00:29:17.921 --> 00:29:22.366
I want the game to make people angry.
00:29:22.366 --> 00:29:30.385
The first time I played Rust I refunded it like three times because they had no tutorial.
00:29:30.385 --> 00:29:46.282
I just kept going in, I kept dying immediately, naked people kept beating me with rocks and I hated it so much and finally I just bought it again and I started to learn the game and figure things out and I kind of want that for Grimm.
00:29:46.282 --> 00:29:51.323
But a lot of Quest users don't have that.
00:29:51.323 --> 00:29:56.840
Jump in and learn, yeah, patience.
00:29:56.840 --> 00:30:01.826
So I'm undecided on the tutorial.
00:30:02.835 --> 00:30:06.046
You know I'm not a huge like Rust player flat screen.
00:30:06.046 --> 00:30:08.034
Do they have a tutorial in 2024?
00:30:09.737 --> 00:30:20.151
I think they have an update, that they're working on a quote-unquote tutorial island where it's supposed to be like this two-hour-long type tutorial.
00:30:20.151 --> 00:30:25.047
But up until this point Rust has never had a tutorial.
00:30:28.255 --> 00:30:29.958
It's just you jump in and figure it out that's wild.
00:30:29.999 --> 00:30:36.557
So I know I'm on the fence part of me like because I appreciate a good, well done tutorial.
00:30:36.557 --> 00:30:46.326
But in this particular instance, because I'm looking at my own personal struggles, it's not like I'm able to go in and there's like, hey, you want a cheat code or a tutorial?
00:30:46.326 --> 00:31:09.083
Like no, it's like really as raw as it's going to get for me as a human being and I'm enjoying the struggle because the reward of figuring out the most simplest fucking thing feels like such a huge accomplishment and I mean honest to God, like the first time I figured out, like hey, obviously you run out of oxygen on mars, right, so there must be a way to get more.
00:31:09.083 --> 00:31:19.420
And then you, you realize it's not complicated, but you, the biodome, you feel like you did something like really good, well, look at the difference between our first two play sessions.
00:31:19.520 --> 00:31:22.948
The first time we played we ran around the road.
00:31:22.948 --> 00:31:24.840
A bunch went to the biodome.
00:31:24.840 --> 00:31:26.425
You got eaten by a bear.
00:31:26.425 --> 00:31:29.079
I'm probably got killed by a spoon fed.
00:31:29.079 --> 00:31:32.748
It sounds like I died of hunger, lost diet of oxygen.
00:31:32.748 --> 00:31:43.127
We never bumped into each other, still had a blast, but the whole first play session was just like not finding each other dying, figuring out the place.
00:31:43.127 --> 00:31:47.558
Second play session, I don't know what to do and I gotta rock second play session.
00:31:47.638 --> 00:31:48.701
We bump into each other.
00:31:48.701 --> 00:31:51.675
How freaking cool was it when we find each other in the biodome.
00:31:51.675 --> 00:31:53.640
We start building stuff.
00:31:53.640 --> 00:31:58.949
We start collecting uh, stone, start collecting what was it?
00:31:58.949 --> 00:31:59.476
Sulfur.
00:31:59.476 --> 00:32:02.020
We started collecting wood cloth.
00:32:02.020 --> 00:32:03.865
We built bags.
00:32:03.865 --> 00:32:06.269
We started to build some base materials.
00:32:06.269 --> 00:32:10.563
That base is gone by now, no doubt, but my point being, we got somewhere.
00:32:10.563 --> 00:32:14.885
So the difference between even just our first and our second play session, huge.
00:32:14.885 --> 00:32:23.069
And if our second play session was our first play session, it wouldn't have felt as rewarding and special.
00:32:23.696 --> 00:32:25.383
I had to grind to get that shit last.
00:32:26.016 --> 00:32:26.719
And figure it out.
00:32:26.719 --> 00:32:34.083
If the game was like here's how you grab the blueprint, here go find one and here's how you, it wouldn't have been that same excitement.
00:32:34.284 --> 00:32:39.058
No agreed, so I'm on defense dude with your tutorial, even as a consumer.
00:32:39.159 --> 00:32:39.721
I usually like it.
00:32:39.721 --> 00:32:40.397
Exactly what you said.
00:32:40.417 --> 00:32:50.976
I like your tutorial, but the feeling of accomplishment in it, yeah yeah, there's no hand holding, you're just thrown in and you have to figure it out I mean, dude, I won't lie, I've.
00:32:51.196 --> 00:32:53.583
I've found items and on.
00:32:53.583 --> 00:32:56.178
You know, if you gave it to me in real life, I'd know what to do with it.
00:32:56.317 --> 00:33:04.403
But I don't know what the hell I'm supposed to do with it, like uh, I guess we can give the tip of a rock, like if you grab a rock and I had to add.
00:33:04.624 --> 00:33:04.743
I'm.
00:33:04.743 --> 00:33:06.347
I'll disclosure it.
00:33:06.347 --> 00:33:12.271
I had to send spoon fed a message about this rock say how do I collect materials?
00:33:12.311 --> 00:33:15.842
with it, because you start with a rock doing something wrong, man, and it's not.
00:33:15.842 --> 00:33:17.747
It's not like a pebble rock, it's a big rock.
00:33:17.747 --> 00:33:19.323
Looks like you could take somebody out with it.
00:33:19.323 --> 00:33:26.650
You know pretty standard so you're like I'm pretty sure I can do stuff with it should be able to harvest stuff, right you're hitting stuff with one hand and it's not working.
00:33:27.432 --> 00:33:29.397
And I think your response was yeah, use two hands.
00:33:29.397 --> 00:33:30.480
Yeah, you gotta earn it.
00:33:30.480 --> 00:33:31.063
So it's.
00:33:31.063 --> 00:33:33.237
It's just stuff like that you gotta use two hands to collect.
00:33:33.237 --> 00:33:35.702
But once you figure that out, boom, then you're collecting stuff.
00:33:35.702 --> 00:33:44.207
I guess would you have some basic tips that you'd feel comfortable to share, because I think part of the enjoyment is players figuring it out organically too.
00:33:44.207 --> 00:33:46.871
But do you have any kind of like first time?
00:33:47.571 --> 00:33:54.497
and keep in mind this is a game that's under development we're talking about this, like you can go out tomorrow and buy it on the store you know.
00:33:54.497 --> 00:33:56.441
So it's like hopefully q4 I would.
00:33:56.441 --> 00:34:00.998
I would just disclaim or anything we hear may or may not be a tip down the road.
00:34:00.998 --> 00:34:01.499
That's true.
00:34:01.499 --> 00:34:07.489
That's a good point too, but if you know something's locked, solid and you would deem it worthy as a good, you know?
00:34:07.489 --> 00:34:08.356
Hey, I'm a new player.
00:34:08.356 --> 00:34:09.740
What would you recommend I do?
00:34:10.704 --> 00:34:20.896
That's a good tip Looking at your forearm for your health, it displays all your health hunger, thirst.
00:34:20.896 --> 00:34:22.762
I don't know if y'all have found that yet.
00:34:23.364 --> 00:34:25.179
Nope, I'll be 100% honest with you.
00:34:25.179 --> 00:34:27.065
We were talking about it last night.
00:34:28.197 --> 00:34:36.465
If you gaze at your forearm for I think it's like .5 seconds or something it'll display all your stats and stuff for you.
00:34:40.836 --> 00:34:42.021
I don't even want to talk about it.
00:34:42.882 --> 00:34:50.282
And I made it gaze based so that way it wouldn't like if you're holding a gun or something every time your forearm went across the screen.
00:34:50.282 --> 00:34:52.226
It wouldn't be annoying.
00:34:52.226 --> 00:34:56.143
So that's people have a hard time finding it.
00:34:56.143 --> 00:34:57.458
That's one of the biggest things.
00:34:57.458 --> 00:35:03.981
They don't know why they die because they can't see the bars, because they starve to death or they dehydrate it.
00:35:07.114 --> 00:35:07.655
That makes so much sense.
00:35:07.675 --> 00:35:08.757
Still no, you know how I was doing it.
00:35:08.757 --> 00:35:12.766
I was looking on the pc so I'd look, lift up.
00:35:12.766 --> 00:35:19.105
I see it in the left hand corner of the pc and I questioned I'm like why can I not see it?
00:35:19.105 --> 00:35:23.023
So I looked at my hands press the press the menu button.
00:35:23.103 --> 00:35:25.271
I pressed every button every I'm like I am.
00:35:25.271 --> 00:35:31.393
I know I'm doing something wrong, so it was actually a question I was going to bring up was is there?
00:35:31.393 --> 00:35:32.596
Am I doing something wrong?
00:35:32.596 --> 00:35:45.125
But anytime something's in early development I you know it's weird asking questions I don't know if it's fair to say early development either, but in development, late development will say it doesn't matter, it's like things can change.
00:35:45.255 --> 00:35:46.360
I so it's like.
00:35:46.360 --> 00:35:54.541
I'm always reluctant with like, oh, that maybe that's something that's not even going to be, but now, damn it, that's a good one.
00:35:54.541 --> 00:35:55.844
I feel stupid again.
00:35:55.844 --> 00:36:03.938
So your discord has over 8 000 people in it yeah, it's wild whole for a game that's not released.
00:36:05.018 --> 00:36:19.369
So I'm assuming you're going to have ample servers that are going to be able to accommodate what I'm feeling like is going to be like old school concert, when they open the door and you have 10,000 people running through it to get good seats in.
00:36:19.369 --> 00:36:23.092
What is the rust-based foaming at the mouth to get over here?
00:36:26.315 --> 00:36:26.898
Yeah, we're going to have.
00:36:26.898 --> 00:36:28.222
It depends on player counts.
00:36:28.222 --> 00:36:42.047
I can't scale up servers and scale them down, like Tabor does with theirs, because once a server goes up, it has to stay up because each player is linked to a specific server.
00:36:42.047 --> 00:36:46.862
So if you pull a server down, they pretty much lose all their progress.
00:36:49.597 --> 00:36:50.519
Old school MMO style.
00:36:50.519 --> 00:36:51.061
That's how MMOs were.
00:36:51.101 --> 00:36:59.742
Yeah, I do want to do community hosted servers to where people can host their own servers.
00:36:59.742 --> 00:37:03.804
I haven't decided on player counts yet.
00:37:03.804 --> 00:37:05.474
I wanted 100.
00:37:05.474 --> 00:37:08.255
I'm not sure if I'll get 100.
00:37:08.255 --> 00:37:11.215
I'm not sure if it'll be too cluttered with 100.
00:37:11.215 --> 00:37:12.733
That's my biggest concern.
00:37:12.733 --> 00:37:17.184
I'm not worried if it can handle 100 players.
00:37:17.184 --> 00:37:18.108
I know it can.
00:37:18.108 --> 00:37:35.175
I'm worried that it will be too too congested with 100 players that's crazy 16 kilometers too cluttered, with 100 players that's going to be a big neighborhood and you know what's crazy.
00:37:35.476 --> 00:37:36.378
I'm confident.
00:37:36.378 --> 00:37:38.364
Whatever the server size is is going to fill up.
00:37:38.364 --> 00:37:40.744
If it's 60 people, that's going to fill up.
00:37:40.744 --> 00:37:42.601
If it's 100, it's going to fill up too.
00:37:42.675 --> 00:37:43.360
I mean again in the Rust community.
00:37:43.360 --> 00:37:44.309
It it's a hundred, it's going to fill up too.
00:37:44.309 --> 00:37:50.806
Well, people and I mean again in the rust community it's not a secret that somebody is making this game.
00:37:50.806 --> 00:37:59.945
So it's like then don't you have some play testers that are rust players, that have like seen the amount of hours and rust yeah, there's a.
00:38:00.335 --> 00:38:03.485
I think one of them has 6,000 hours and rust.
00:38:08.295 --> 00:38:12.742
I'm looking at Discord and he's playing Rust right now, 6,000 hours.
00:38:13.063 --> 00:38:14.224
With no exact number.
00:38:14.224 --> 00:38:16.949
You know, how many playtesters do you think there are right now?
00:38:16.949 --> 00:38:29.523
How, I mean, I can give you an exact number and I guess my follow-up to that would be what's the most that you've ever had playing at the same time.
00:38:29.543 --> 00:38:31.447
Uh, not many right now.
00:38:31.447 --> 00:38:40.076
Uh, when it was the island, I didn't have a whole lot of testers because I didn't want a whole lot of people.
00:38:40.076 --> 00:38:42.019
I still don't want a whole lot of people.
00:38:42.019 --> 00:38:45.547
My main thing with testing is for people to go in.
00:38:45.547 --> 00:38:50.885
I'm looking for crashes, server crashes, client crashes.
00:38:50.885 --> 00:38:53.063
That's my main concern.
00:38:53.063 --> 00:38:57.224
There's 68 testers right now, I think.
00:38:59.695 --> 00:39:02.322
Damn, we're of a very privileged group.
00:39:02.322 --> 00:39:08.141
I'll say in that regard oh dude, you have no idea like I see the people always wanting it.
00:39:08.141 --> 00:39:09.284
You get private messages.
00:39:09.284 --> 00:39:10.835
I have people who send me messages.
00:39:10.835 --> 00:39:11.657
How do I get on grim?
00:39:11.777 --> 00:39:14.543
I'm like I got no dog, I got no juice.
00:39:14.543 --> 00:39:15.907
Fill out the application.
00:39:15.907 --> 00:39:17.297
I see it in the discord daily.
00:39:17.297 --> 00:39:30.202
No, it's the number one thing is that you asked the us, but it's it's important for people to know and just so, just so we can put it out there, you can apply to be a tester in your discord, correct?
00:39:30.864 --> 00:39:33.061
Yes, yes, it doesn't mean that you'll get accepted.
00:39:33.215 --> 00:39:39.543
Applying does not mean there's an age requirement of 18 plus, and applying does not mean acceptance.
00:39:39.543 --> 00:39:41.686
It's apply and if needed.
00:39:41.686 --> 00:39:43.253
You choose yeah, and then we, it's apply, and if needed you choose.
00:39:43.273 --> 00:39:50.646
Yeah, yeah, we have over 2,000 tester applications that we go through.
00:39:50.646 --> 00:39:55.802
As we need more people and I only bring on like 10 at a time.
00:39:55.802 --> 00:39:57.967
Usually it's not.
00:39:57.967 --> 00:40:02.085
I don't bring on a lot because I don't need a lot right now.
00:40:04.237 --> 00:40:11.538
I just wanted to get it out there publicly because and we joke about it on the show sometime we'll bring up the discord and I'm like dude, it's like every day.
00:40:11.538 --> 00:40:13.547
Just give me the game, give me the game, give me the game.
00:40:13.547 --> 00:40:23.722
I applied, I want to be a tester and it's like you got to assume you're not the only person and there's there's a program in place and people hear 2 000 applications.
00:40:23.722 --> 00:40:31.000
Now it'll start to sink in as to why you're not jumping on 2,000 people to turn them into your game.
00:40:31.777 --> 00:40:38.047
And this might be a silly question, but it sounds like things haven't fully clicked yet.
00:40:38.047 --> 00:40:44.420
Are you mentally prepared for how successful this game's going to be when it launches, or is it still just kind of just?
00:40:47.240 --> 00:40:48.324
I don't even think about it.
00:40:48.324 --> 00:40:50.019
I think about working on the game.
00:40:50.019 --> 00:40:52.126
That's all I think about Doing this interview.
00:40:52.126 --> 00:40:54.480
I'm thinking about working on the game.
00:40:54.480 --> 00:40:56.746
It's crazy.
00:40:56.746 --> 00:41:02.742
As you can see, once this interview's over, I'll be working on the game.
00:41:03.275 --> 00:41:04.724
I'm actually not shocked that you're not working on the game while doing.
00:41:04.724 --> 00:41:05.186
This interview is over.
00:41:05.186 --> 00:41:05.750
I'll be working on the game.
00:41:05.750 --> 00:41:13.976
I'm I'm actually not shocked that you're not working on the game while doing I just can't give away secrets and the dust settles that you get to take some.
00:41:14.760 --> 00:41:16.605
I don't even know if you ever take time off.
00:41:16.605 --> 00:41:23.661
It doesn't seem like you do seven days a week just grinding so fucking hard.
00:41:23.661 --> 00:41:26.847
I you know I made a joke months ago.
00:41:26.847 --> 00:41:27.548
I'm like I hope.
00:41:27.548 --> 00:41:35.936
I hope someday we hear spoons going to his spoon fed island that he was able to able to get after this game.
00:41:35.936 --> 00:41:38.748
I think this game is going to be just ginormous.
00:41:38.748 --> 00:41:40.394
It'll be a game of the year contender.
00:41:40.494 --> 00:41:43.949
In my opinion it's everything I ever wanted from a township tale.
00:41:43.949 --> 00:41:51.358
I know that's a silly comparison, but I mean, that's what I went to township tale wanting is exactly what grim is bringing.
00:41:51.358 --> 00:41:56.027
Yeah, I wanted ross, basically, you know that was the no you're I.
00:41:56.168 --> 00:41:57.817
I just feel you're nailing it.
00:41:59.059 --> 00:42:09.802
Community strong and now I did encounter a spacesuit into the game in the game in a chest, and I put it on my dude, but I don't think it did anything.
00:42:09.802 --> 00:42:11.463
Does the spacesuit do something?
00:42:11.463 --> 00:42:14.583
Is there a way I can like reduce my oxygen consumption, or something like that?
00:42:15.282 --> 00:42:32.918
it increases armor for bullets, melee AI, so depending on it, and it does it per body part so it may protect the head, better chest, and then it also has radiation protection.
00:42:32.918 --> 00:42:42.110
So if you go to the airfield I don't know if y'all have seen the giant airfield yet, but there is a massive airfield and it has radiation and the spacesuit is the only way you can go in it currently.
00:42:42.110 --> 00:42:47.905
It has radiation and the spacesuit is the only way you can go in it currently how far away so you're?
00:42:48.601 --> 00:42:51.594
would you go from the biodome to find the air station?
00:42:51.594 --> 00:42:53.101
Definitely, I have not wandered.
00:42:53.101 --> 00:42:59.079
I'm such a little wuss with like leaving my safe, little little, you know, oxygen area.
00:43:01.563 --> 00:43:14.697
I don't know the distance off the top, it's a good, probably 5 minute run, 10 minute run from the biome, the big center biome, because there's 4 total.
00:43:17.364 --> 00:43:18.929
I think we've encountered two so far right.
00:43:19.380 --> 00:43:25.367
Well, dude, the other day, all I did was walk and I literally felt alone and abandoned.
00:43:25.367 --> 00:43:31.449
I did, I felt like at any minute I could die, because I don't care if it's testers or not.
00:43:31.449 --> 00:43:33.989
I know there's some people that'll probably kill you on sight.
00:43:34.119 --> 00:43:37.467
There are still 68 testers there still could be somebody else that hops in.
00:43:37.599 --> 00:43:44.987
I feel like there's a risk of just and I'm walking down the road so I couldn't be more visible to anybody and I'm probably talking while I'm doing it.
00:43:44.987 --> 00:43:46.969
No regard to sound or anything.
00:43:46.969 --> 00:43:50.552
But yeah, I mean, the map is freaking giant.
00:43:50.552 --> 00:43:55.956
I'm just trying to learn the map and I hate hearing there's more in it that I haven't seen.
00:43:58.460 --> 00:44:00.963
I saw some sort of factory-ish area.
00:44:00.963 --> 00:44:28.360
Oh, that's the quarry, that's the one we're currently working on, and then we have a research lab and then a safe zone, and then there's a secret lab that's built into the edge of the map that will stand past it, which will be kind of like an underground area, and then the airfield is going to like an underground area, and then the airfield is going to have an underground area with AI in it.
00:44:28.360 --> 00:44:29.862
Why so much?
00:44:30.943 --> 00:44:34.228
So when you say yesterday there's going to be like NPCs, Is that what you mean?
00:44:34.809 --> 00:44:35.289
Yeah, yeah.
00:44:35.289 --> 00:44:39.635
So Rust has these like scientists that are in like hazmat suits.
00:44:39.635 --> 00:44:43.081
Well, I have robots with guns.
00:44:43.101 --> 00:44:45.943
Well, that'll be great for new players that like just to learn the game.
00:44:45.943 --> 00:44:47.065
They need some PVE.
00:44:47.065 --> 00:44:51.150
Unless it's not in here, you can access Dude if you really know your shit.
00:44:51.269 --> 00:44:52.590
Did you spawn in with a gun?
00:44:52.650 --> 00:44:55.414
No, so now that I'm thinking about it, that doesn't sound like something.
00:44:55.434 --> 00:44:58.317
Robot with a gun no oh man.
00:45:05.260 --> 00:45:06.224
You better no, you better know what you're doing.
00:45:06.224 --> 00:45:06.726
Yeah, what am I saying?
00:45:06.726 --> 00:45:07.047
It sounded good.
00:45:07.047 --> 00:45:09.016
Again, I've never played too much rust or anything, so there's some things I don't know about rust.
00:45:09.016 --> 00:45:11.385
Like I didn't know, rust had npcs, for example.
00:45:11.385 --> 00:45:24.724
Uh, has there been thought, or is it a thing, that it would be like any type of official, like in-game, clan or guild system or friend system, anything like that, or not really?
00:45:24.864 --> 00:45:31.007
uh, there is a group system and right now, uh, if you open the inventory, you can see create group.
00:45:31.007 --> 00:45:34.800
Then you go up to a friend and look at them and press trigger.
00:45:34.800 --> 00:45:38.947
It'll send them an invite and then you can see a green above their head.
00:45:38.947 --> 00:45:45.485
And you can see that you can't see it through things, but it will always be above their head.
00:45:45.485 --> 00:45:48.273
So if they're in your view, you can always kind of.
00:45:49.762 --> 00:46:04.467
You won't have a question on if that's a friendly or not what's crazy is I wanted to try the group button, but I got so excited that we were able to figure out how to meet up jumping down like little kids yeah oh yeah, we were high-fiving and shit so stupid?
00:46:04.467 --> 00:46:05.750
Let's take a picture.
00:46:05.769 --> 00:46:15.445
We did it, yeah, but better you than someone else but no, like a guild system or clan system or anything like that, none of that.
00:46:15.445 --> 00:46:17.570
I, I feel like I I wouldn't.
00:46:17.570 --> 00:46:22.565
I enjoy it, that answer, because it keeps it more like hardcore versus like.
00:46:22.565 --> 00:46:25.706
Here's a list of people you're friendly with You're not getting any freebies.
00:46:27.202 --> 00:46:27.985
It's I'm feeling.
00:46:27.985 --> 00:46:30.871
No, you're going to earn and work for everything.
00:46:31.400 --> 00:46:35.009
So much potential in this game and as I keep playing it, I'm only going to get more and more questions.
00:46:35.009 --> 00:46:39.211
But half the fun, like I said, is organically the discovery, discovering it.
00:46:39.211 --> 00:46:45.195
And we built the most makeshift base ever last night, not to be permanent, we put it like right next to a biodome.
00:46:45.195 --> 00:46:47.583
Somebody's gonna find that and be like what are these fools doing?
00:46:47.583 --> 00:46:51.382
It was just to kind of learn the build mechanics and eyesight of it for sure.
00:46:51.402 --> 00:46:53.128
You know people are gonna find it very fast.
00:46:53.128 --> 00:46:58.463
Uh noted, there might even be some resources in there, unfortunately.
00:46:58.463 --> 00:47:02.012
Oh, there's a whole chest of bullshit, but it was just for us to figure out what we're doing.
00:47:02.012 --> 00:47:05.824
But I think you found a trap in one of the I found a pressure.
00:47:06.000 --> 00:47:08.146
I think it's a pressure sensor.
00:47:09.880 --> 00:47:15.931
So instantly I'm like this place is super vulnerable, but clearly there's ways we could booby trap it and stuff like that.
00:47:15.931 --> 00:47:21.626
Is there ways to lock up your base or fortify it or, as we already saw, booby trap?
00:47:21.626 --> 00:47:22.307
Obviously that.
00:47:22.307 --> 00:47:26.271
But what protective measures can you take so people don't mess with your stuff?
00:47:27.072 --> 00:47:29.096
So when you first build a base, it's twig.
00:47:29.096 --> 00:47:45.235
You can craft a hammer and you can use resources to upgrade the walls to wood, stone and metal, each one having a higher health, and they do less.
00:47:45.235 --> 00:47:46.139
They take less damage from certain weapons.
00:47:46.139 --> 00:47:50.391
If someone has enough C4, there's not really a whole lot you can do.
00:47:50.391 --> 00:47:51.967
They're going to get in regardless.
00:47:51.967 --> 00:48:04.690
There's an electricity system that you can hook up auto-turrets to that you can load with ammo and anyone not authorized on that turret it will kill fairly quickly.
00:48:04.690 --> 00:48:13.940
There are pressure pads and what not that you could technically hook up to the auto turret.
00:48:13.940 --> 00:48:18.380
So anytime someone steps on it it'll turn the auto turret on and kill them.
00:48:18.380 --> 00:48:20.668
So it doesn't just waste ammo.
00:48:20.668 --> 00:48:21.766
Do you need to feed ammo into the auto turret on?
00:48:21.786 --> 00:48:22.753
and kill them, so it doesn't just waste ammo.
00:48:22.753 --> 00:48:25.422
Do you need to feed ammo into the auto turret?
00:48:25.443 --> 00:48:40.625
yes, yes you, you have four uh slots and it takes rifle ammo oh man, the possibilities of creation going through my head right now, since we stopped playing last night, all you're thinking is building shit.
00:48:40.865 --> 00:48:51.434
All I've thought about was like I, I want to, just because I'm I'm into, like I figured some shit out and then I know I can upgrade from the wood to like much.
00:48:51.434 --> 00:48:54.467
But and I laugh because I'm like someone could destroy our base.
00:48:54.467 --> 00:48:57.483
I'm assuming with an axe being made of wood.
00:48:57.483 --> 00:48:59.929
So I'm not sweating right.
00:48:59.929 --> 00:49:03.603
But the reality is is I don't care how build, how good you build your shit.
00:49:03.603 --> 00:49:08.144
If someone wants it and they have access to good stuff, they're gonna.
00:49:08.144 --> 00:49:09.269
They're gonna fuck your base up.
00:49:09.610 --> 00:49:16.632
Well, because I'm a little fucking kid the first thing I hear I think of when I see all these features is like I want the biggest, baddest base.
00:49:16.632 --> 00:49:23.614
That if you're not part of like the rough talk VR discord crew, you're not going to go near that fucking base, you're going to die.
00:49:23.614 --> 00:49:26.436
You know, that's the first thing my brain goes to.
00:49:26.436 --> 00:49:29.608
So I'm instantly, I'm getting more and more humbled to the reality, though?
00:49:29.608 --> 00:49:30.590
No, it's not easy.
00:49:30.760 --> 00:49:32.688
It's the rust base that's going to come over.
00:49:32.688 --> 00:49:34.101
That's just going to be like.
00:49:34.101 --> 00:49:35.304
It's my God.
00:49:35.364 --> 00:49:41.853
It's my hope that we have enough of a headstart knowledge wise that at least we'll be able to survive.
00:49:41.853 --> 00:49:44.768
But you know, ghosted to bore has wipes and stuff like that.
00:49:44.768 --> 00:49:48.708
Is that something that's going to exist in rust or a server is going to be persistent?
00:49:48.728 --> 00:49:51.795
forever, I'm sorry and grim, grim Uh yeah.
00:49:51.795 --> 00:49:54.809
So I want to.
00:49:54.809 --> 00:50:02.373
For player hosted servers they'll be able to choose between week two, week and maybe monthly.
00:50:02.373 --> 00:50:13.769
I can't officially support monthly because performance would be horrible with the amount of building parts and stuff built over an entire month.
00:50:13.769 --> 00:50:17.887
But official servers will be a weekly wipe.
00:50:17.887 --> 00:50:21.706
Blueprints that you learn will wipe monthly.
00:50:21.706 --> 00:50:26.706
So you'll keep your blueprints every week through that month that you've learned.
00:50:26.706 --> 00:50:32.108
And then new month, everything's wiped fresh start completely.
00:50:33.519 --> 00:50:38.945
Okay, so wipes are essential not only for player fairness, but also for performance.
00:50:38.965 --> 00:50:40.148
That makes sense Performance, yeah.
00:50:41.181 --> 00:50:44.347
Okay, makes total sense, especially if you have people, everybody building.
00:50:44.681 --> 00:50:45.423
Me and you Doing shit.
00:50:45.463 --> 00:50:52.467
Yeah, and we're just two people and not confirmed how many people will be in server, but that's a lot of people.
00:50:52.467 --> 00:50:56.829
No matter what number you throw at me, it's going to be a lot of people.
00:50:57.601 --> 00:51:00.764
Well, that's why there's decay and upkeep as well.
00:51:00.764 --> 00:51:07.108
I don't know if y'all know this, but you have to place a tool cupboard down and build resources or your base will decay.
00:51:07.108 --> 00:51:11.090
So if you didn't do that last night, your base is probably gone.
00:51:11.090 --> 00:51:12.605
That's what I said.
00:51:12.605 --> 00:51:13.670
It's gone.
00:51:15.478 --> 00:51:16.663
And no building in biodomes.
00:51:16.663 --> 00:51:17.909
Right, we weren't doing anything wrong.
00:51:17.949 --> 00:51:34.664
Yeah, any of the POIs you can't build within a radius, so I don't want people like blocking off the doors to the airlocks and things like that well, you, you do know, the first foundation I tried to lay was right at the entrance of the biodome.
00:51:34.704 --> 00:51:35.708
Yeah, fuck, yeah.
00:51:35.708 --> 00:51:39.117
And then I I couldn't even be upset about it.
00:51:39.117 --> 00:51:40.884
I'm like I must be doing something wrong.
00:51:42.139 --> 00:51:44.380
And then I'm like it dawned I think we went to a different biodome too to try the other one.
00:51:44.380 --> 00:51:46.844
Yeah, let's go to the other one, maybe it's just this one.
00:51:46.844 --> 00:51:48.184
And then I'm like you know, what.
00:51:48.380 --> 00:51:50.007
I'm like this is making sense.
00:51:50.007 --> 00:51:51.405
I bet you anything.
00:52:07.340 --> 00:52:15.409
no-transcript to learn already from so many of like the all right, you can't.
00:52:15.409 --> 00:52:22.452
You got to let them not make build a certain way from this spot you mistakes that maybe have been learned in rust already.
00:52:22.452 --> 00:52:26.070
You get to carry over that knowledge into the development of grim.
00:52:27.141 --> 00:52:28.246
So will there?
00:52:28.246 --> 00:52:32.893
Will there be the ability to build like trap rooms and stuff similar to rough?
00:52:33.755 --> 00:52:37.079
Yeah, I mean but technically you can.
00:52:37.079 --> 00:52:41.311
You can already do that with the electricity system.
00:52:41.311 --> 00:52:44.730
I want to go more into depth with it.
00:52:44.730 --> 00:52:51.626
You can control doors and whatnot with the electricity, maybe like the pressure pads.
00:52:51.626 --> 00:52:56.650
When someone steps on, it closes, the door, turns on an auto turret, things like that.
00:52:58.320 --> 00:53:03.032
I like the trapping people in little vaults and stuff, just fucking with them.
00:53:03.032 --> 00:53:04.543
That's you.
00:53:04.543 --> 00:53:11.286
I've heard this guy talk about rust do I can watch the trap videos all day long for years, like literally a decade.
00:53:11.588 --> 00:53:14.179
I've heard, I've heard he'll just come over and I'll be like dude.
00:53:14.179 --> 00:53:20.864
I saw this video and so I I know your excitement is genuine, for those type of features.
00:53:21.625 --> 00:53:23.806
Do you ever watch Mimeo?
00:53:24.588 --> 00:53:26.489
Mimeo His run trap videos.
00:53:27.170 --> 00:53:34.114
You know what I had to have he probably doesn't know my creator name, but he's actually in the Discord.
00:53:34.215 --> 00:53:36.215
He's in the Grim Discord I know.
00:53:36.215 --> 00:53:37.858
So he does.
00:53:44.280 --> 00:53:45.425
Maybe he'll be building some wild trap bases in grim.
00:53:45.545 --> 00:53:48.315
So you know what I learned from the rust videos is don't go into places if you didn't build it.
00:53:48.335 --> 00:53:56.748
Don't go into especially if it's got like, if it's big, too good to be true shit and you know somebody messes with you and they go into some small little building.
00:53:56.788 --> 00:54:14.400
You think you're gonna come out okay the problem is, if you're a new player and you don't know what's player created and what's you know official, at least in grim, you can have the idea of like, if it's not a biodome, it's probably not like real, it's probably player created.
00:54:14.400 --> 00:54:16.623
I don't trust anything.
00:54:16.623 --> 00:54:21.811
And have you heard hype in the rust community about this game?
00:54:23.152 --> 00:54:39.869
uh, not really uh no, but we we have a few of the content creators from rust in the discord, but outside of that doesn't seem like it, which I'm kind of fine with, kind of not.
00:54:39.869 --> 00:54:40.831
I don't, I don't know.
00:54:40.831 --> 00:54:42.155
It's too early to tell.
00:54:42.155 --> 00:54:47.974
I think I don't want to bring all the the toxicity of rust like.
00:54:47.974 --> 00:54:56.190
I know there's going to be toxicity, but rust is a whole other level and I kind of want to steer clear of that.
00:54:56.190 --> 00:55:00.583
But in the end it's, it's all up to the players.
00:55:00.842 --> 00:55:12.411
So the players do what they want well, if we see the rust community starting to play it, I guarantee you a lot of them aren't like headset owners right now, so that means that they're buying headsets for the game.
00:55:12.411 --> 00:55:15.061
So let's see when the game's actually out.
00:55:15.061 --> 00:55:16.463
You know people can hit by now.
00:55:16.463 --> 00:55:17.083
That's when.
00:55:17.784 --> 00:55:27.568
That's when the wildfire really really starts, I am anticipating a level of toxicity that will come into play, but I'm just hoping not to that scene.
00:55:27.568 --> 00:55:37.492
I think some of the rust toxicity is because of the reputation of it, so people use that as their free-for-all to be as toxic as they want to be, because who's shocked?
00:55:37.492 --> 00:55:39.625
It's rust, I mean, everyone tolerates it.
00:55:39.625 --> 00:55:48.023
If you go in there right where this hopefully will have you know.
00:55:48.023 --> 00:55:48.605
Just enough fairness of it.
00:55:48.625 --> 00:55:54.063
Like fuck you teabag, you know whatever, but it does seem in general like the vr community is a little less toxic online than what I've experienced.
00:55:54.063 --> 00:56:09.648
Yeah, last, really, I've seen that I'm saying I don't know about that, played pavlo well, uh, we've been hopping into Contractor Showdown a bit and well, some of those words, the level, of I got it last night was, like, I think, the worst.
00:56:09.648 --> 00:56:10.771
I've ever seen.
00:56:11.052 --> 00:56:13.364
Oh yeah, fuck my mom and lick my taint.
00:56:13.364 --> 00:56:18.351
So it's coming, it's coming and that was the good words, holy crap.
00:56:18.351 --> 00:56:25.581
But no, I'm hoping it's just a nice balance of player and and toxicity, because that's a good max.
00:56:25.902 --> 00:56:28.951
I won't lie and you mentioned pavlov earlier in the interview.
00:56:28.951 --> 00:56:29.661
You mentioned it now.
00:56:29.661 --> 00:56:32.067
You know sounds like you're a game you're a fan of.
00:56:32.067 --> 00:56:35.521
You probably started working with sin studio because you're a fan of swordsman vr.
00:56:35.521 --> 00:56:38.304
Are you still playing v VR games as a consumer?
00:56:38.905 --> 00:56:41.809
or is it just no time?
00:56:41.809 --> 00:56:51.661
When I first got into VR, it was sim racing, Dirt Rally, really Shoot.
00:56:51.661 --> 00:56:59.489
I have thousands of hours in Dirt Rally, Assetto, Corsa, so that's where my VR time went.
00:56:59.489 --> 00:57:01.588
I played Pavlov a little bit.
00:57:01.588 --> 00:57:05.992
I wasn't a huge fan, but I did mod for it.
00:57:05.992 --> 00:57:11.411
I'm the one who put all the Dust 2, all the Counter-Strike maps.
00:57:11.411 --> 00:57:17.530
I kind of got tired of working on it, handed it off to someone else.
00:57:17.530 --> 00:57:18.644
They kind of took over.
00:57:18.644 --> 00:57:23.971
I don't really have time to play VR Swordsman.
00:57:23.971 --> 00:57:29.443
If I'm being honest, I never played Swordsman Outside of working on the game.
00:57:29.443 --> 00:57:30.507
I never played it.
00:57:30.507 --> 00:57:31.409
Same with Tabor.
00:57:31.409 --> 00:57:33.164
I don't really play Tabor.
00:57:33.164 --> 00:57:34.789
I played it maybe once.
00:57:37.039 --> 00:57:40.250
So your true enjoyment comes from development.
00:57:40.900 --> 00:57:49.248
Yeah, I like turning nothing into something or somebody telling me I can't do something, and then I try to do it.
00:57:49.730 --> 00:57:50.931
What about playing your own game?
00:57:50.931 --> 00:57:56.536
Do you get some enjoyment out of that, or does that still kind of work because you're looking for bugs or anything.
00:58:02.179 --> 00:58:04.885
Yeah, I can enjoy it, because the second I run into something, an issue'm, I'm off, I'm loading up the editor.
00:58:04.905 --> 00:58:10.001
I'm fixing it when I've seen your, your fix updates or it's like I mentioned to you before.
00:58:10.001 --> 00:58:13.068
I'm like you know most people would do like hey, I did this.
00:58:13.068 --> 00:58:19.626
No, you dump out like a under paragraphs like no time.
00:58:19.626 --> 00:58:20.909
It's like holy shit.
00:58:20.909 --> 00:58:26.170
I appreciate the dust too, by the way, and I'm telling you, nobody can make counter-strike in vr.
00:58:26.170 --> 00:58:27.293
I'm just putting it out there.
00:58:27.293 --> 00:58:29.099
You want to challenge yourself?
00:58:30.523 --> 00:58:31.505
call out valve to it.
00:58:31.505 --> 00:58:34.251
You know, not like that they've ever done anything vr related?
00:58:34.472 --> 00:58:40.331
I, I won't and I I'll even take 1.6 cs 1.6 in VR.
00:58:40.371 --> 00:58:47.231
I'm the happiest dude in the whole world yeah, 3,000 hours in Counter-Strike, so a lot of time in.
00:58:47.251 --> 00:58:49.987
Counter-Strike yeah, all growing up as a kid that was.
00:58:49.987 --> 00:58:52.802
That was the game I remember you playing the most.
00:58:52.802 --> 00:58:54.045
Yeah, we were in Proving.
00:58:54.065 --> 00:59:05.998
Grounds and which was competition in Cal League, which we, of course, did not win, or I'd probably be rolling in Cal League money at the time, which was competition, and cow league, which we, of course, did not win, or I'd probably be rolling in cow league money at the time, which was amazing that you could make that.
00:59:05.998 --> 00:59:08.541
But no, counter-strike was legit.
00:59:08.963 --> 00:59:20.550
I still love counter-strike, I just don't play it so, since it was referenced a little bit earlier in the the episode but we didn't really go in depth into or anything like that, do you want to explain to the listeners what pokequest is?
00:59:21.773 --> 00:59:25.242
uh, yeah, I'm a big pokemon fan.
00:59:25.242 --> 00:59:40.731
I've always been into the uh, mainly the pokemon mmos like the, the one-off third party created uh, and I always thought that vr needed a Pokemon game.
00:59:40.731 --> 00:59:48.423
Uh, there had been attempts, let's say 3d style Pokemon game, which I was working on mine kind of.
00:59:48.423 --> 00:59:50.429
At the same time they released theirs.
00:59:50.429 --> 00:59:53.666
Uh, I played it.
00:59:53.666 --> 00:59:54.530
I didn't like it.
00:59:54.530 --> 01:00:00.280
I can make something better than this, so that's what I tried to do, better than this.
01:00:00.280 --> 01:00:01.083
So that's what I tried to do.
01:00:01.083 --> 01:00:15.400
That's why it looks pixelated, because I didn't want to do 3D, because they were doing 3D, I didn't want to step on any toes, so I tried to make it a bit different.
01:00:15.400 --> 01:00:17.764
It plays pretty much just like a Pokemon game.
01:00:17.764 --> 01:00:21.989
There's no actual story that you can play through all the gems and whatnot.
01:00:21.989 --> 01:00:30.791
It was something I worked on while I was working in my office.
01:00:30.791 --> 01:00:40.902
I would remote in on my phone and just work on PokeQuest and I kind of jumped back between it and Grimm, depending on which one.
01:00:40.902 --> 01:00:43.230
I was more burnout at the time.
01:00:44.621 --> 01:00:49.788
And do you ever still put any time into development there, or is it just canned at this point?
01:00:49.788 --> 01:00:51.887
Not canned, but you know other things going on.
01:00:53.541 --> 01:00:55.309
I kind of want to work on it.
01:00:55.309 --> 01:01:02.480
I kind of don't All the people in the Discord like I think it has like 7,000 people in the Discord, like I think it has like 7 000 people in the discord.
01:01:02.480 --> 01:01:05.905
Uh, when's the next update?
01:01:05.905 --> 01:01:06.728
When's the next up?
01:01:06.728 --> 01:01:08.731
Like I'm I'm busy, I have other.
01:01:08.731 --> 01:01:12.626
Like this is just a like a love of labor for me.
01:01:12.706 --> 01:01:24.614
I can't spend all my time on this uh maybe one day in that discord that you're also working on, grim, yeah, yeah yeah, yeah, they know, and they still ask when's the?
01:01:24.655 --> 01:01:34.025
next update uh people, when they're passionate about something, you know that just yeah, I was gonna say it's just because it's got the the passion attached to it.
01:01:34.025 --> 01:01:37.271
So I'm I am curious and we're gonna jump.
01:01:37.271 --> 01:01:38.221
We're gonna jump ahead.
01:01:38.221 --> 01:01:54.452
And if you have a 15 year vision for grim, all things being equal, do you foresee any other projects on the personal level coming out, or is this like I'm happy with this because this was something that was a pet project anyways?
01:01:56.063 --> 01:01:59.289
I have an idea for another game, but I I don't.
01:01:59.289 --> 01:02:04.769
It's kind of early, I don't really know if I'll even go down that road.
01:02:04.769 --> 01:02:09.431
All my focus is on Grimm and I want all my focus to be on Grimm.
01:02:09.431 --> 01:02:17.768
So when I start thinking of other ideas I have to force myself to stop because I know I'm going to start prototyping something.
01:02:17.768 --> 01:02:21.027
I try to stay away from it.
01:02:23.679 --> 01:02:41.646
You've said that and now it's back in my head, so thank you I apologize and I shouldn't have even asked it because I'm like, but it's just, you start realizing the way some people are wired and it's like you know, you gotta wonder what else is going on in there, because there's already been a couple of different games, other different projects being worked on for other people.
01:02:41.646 --> 01:02:42.550
It's like hmm.
01:02:44.804 --> 01:02:52.422
I'll give you kind of a hint of what I'm thinking about Co-op game.
01:02:52.422 --> 01:02:56.625
That is no quest.
01:02:56.625 --> 01:02:59.706
I wouldn't want to be limited by quests on this.
01:03:00.063 --> 01:03:12.632
It would be a cross play between PC and VR there's a lot of potential, but it's it's like it's open-ended.
01:03:12.632 --> 01:03:13.795
People can speculate.
01:03:13.795 --> 01:03:30.181
It could be anything, it could be anything something stalker-esque, okay, but co-op had me a co-op, but first we got to get cross but, first we got to get grim this is all futures, future fun, you know.
01:03:30.181 --> 01:03:35.623
But 15 years of Grim supported and, like I said earlier, I think that's very reasonable.
01:03:36.074 --> 01:03:44.646
That's a huge upfront commitment and it's important for people to know too, because that's usually something that I'm already committed.
01:03:44.646 --> 01:03:51.342
Yeah, you don't hear of very few roadmaps that oh, for the next three years.
01:03:51.342 --> 01:03:56.824
It's usually a six-month, one-year roadmap, and then after that, well, what happens happens?
01:03:56.824 --> 01:04:00.735
15 years, more than a decade.
01:04:01.657 --> 01:04:02.701
It's already been six.
01:04:02.701 --> 01:04:04.025
What's another 15?
01:04:06.516 --> 01:04:08.784
And if you had your way, you would have waited four more years.
01:04:09.076 --> 01:04:10.403
I've been 10 years in development.
01:04:10.403 --> 01:04:13.242
Think of how good it would have been.
01:04:15.358 --> 01:04:16.463
Well, it'll still get there.
01:04:16.463 --> 01:04:18.322
It'll still get there, oh yeah.
01:04:18.322 --> 01:04:23.166
I mean have thousands of people playing it at the same time too.
01:04:24.434 --> 01:04:27.324
That's going to be the interesting the release for this.
01:04:27.324 --> 01:04:29.679
It's got all potential.
01:04:29.940 --> 01:04:31.003
No, I don't think It'd be very dangerous.
01:04:31.215 --> 01:04:40.143
I don't think the industry is prepared for it really I don't think the players are prepared for it, because there's going to be some bangers coming out.
01:04:40.143 --> 01:04:43.481
Dude, it's no joke, it's the rust base that scares me.
01:04:43.481 --> 01:04:44.664
It's like these people are.
01:04:44.664 --> 01:04:46.922
They've been in these games forever.
01:04:46.922 --> 01:04:52.715
They've got a learning curve right off the bat, no surprises and organization.
01:04:52.715 --> 01:04:53.858
They in these games forever.
01:04:53.858 --> 01:04:56.347
They've got a learning curve right off the bat, no surprises and organization they're organized.
01:04:56.347 --> 01:04:56.807
I'm scared.
01:04:56.807 --> 01:04:57.409
I was scared of the bear dude.
01:04:57.409 --> 01:04:59.235
I walk into that dome and I see that bear.
01:04:59.235 --> 01:05:01.139
I just run the opposite direction.
01:05:01.298 --> 01:05:10.262
I want no piece of that I think so far I found a hunting bow which I was actually able to craft arrows for, so so I can actually use it.
01:05:10.262 --> 01:05:12.487
Got quite a bit of arrows, did you use?
01:05:12.547 --> 01:05:12.626
it.
01:05:14.757 --> 01:05:15.862
Man, I was looking for a deer.
01:05:15.862 --> 01:05:17.300
It was the one time I didn't find a deer.
01:05:17.300 --> 01:05:19.702
I see the deer all the time, but you wanted to go kill it.
01:05:19.815 --> 01:05:20.420
I'm like dude.
01:05:20.420 --> 01:05:25.342
I was clearly advised not to go primal and eat raw animal.
01:05:25.614 --> 01:05:26.916
Doesn't mean I can't collect the meat.
01:05:27.637 --> 01:05:29.199
You can cook it in the furnace.
01:05:29.619 --> 01:05:37.471
Exactly, I was down to go hunt it, but I couldn't find the deer by the time I got the hunting bow but what's your go-to weapons in the game?
01:05:37.471 --> 01:05:39.579
I also found a crossbow.
01:05:39.579 --> 01:05:41.264
I found pistol, ammo, but no pistol.
01:05:44.215 --> 01:05:47.125
Mine's going to be the AK or the L96.
01:05:47.695 --> 01:05:51.061
Mainly because I spend a bit of time that's me learning that those guns are in the game.
01:05:53.577 --> 01:05:55.463
The L96 because I like the scope.
01:05:55.463 --> 01:06:02.427
I'm pretty sure I had never worked on scopes before.
01:06:02.427 --> 01:06:10.885
When I asked around who has the best scopes in VR, that's who I want to imitate and everyone told me Contractors has the best scopes out of any game in VR.
01:06:10.885 --> 01:06:14.538
That's who I want to imitate and everyone told me Contractors has the best scopes out of any game in VR.
01:06:14.538 --> 01:06:25.177
So that's kind of what I aim towards, and I've had a few people tell me that mine feel smoother than Contractors.
01:06:25.177 --> 01:06:28.940
I've never played Contractors.
01:06:28.940 --> 01:06:30.219
I don't know how to compare them.
01:06:30.219 --> 01:06:34.362
I just looked at videos of them and I did that.
01:06:34.362 --> 01:06:44.809
It's kind of how I did the mag palming or ghost of Tabor Uh Scott that he wanted mag palming.
01:06:44.809 --> 01:06:54.918
Uh, he showed me a video of some roblox game or something of somebody showing off their mag palming and nobody was doing it in vr.
01:06:54.918 --> 01:06:56.581
I was like, yeah, I could, I could do that.
01:06:56.581 --> 01:07:02.563
So I spent a couple weeks on it, figured it out and is that fun to you like?
01:07:02.663 --> 01:07:03.905
like getting a challenge like that?
01:07:03.905 --> 01:07:08.420
That nobody's done yet here's mag palming yeah, like uh, swordsman.
01:07:08.500 --> 01:07:10.222
Have you tried the bow and swordsman?
01:07:12.545 --> 01:07:14.268
I don't think I've used the bow in a while.
01:07:14.489 --> 01:07:21.206
No, I haven't played swordsman since release, to be honest with you I spent much, uh, me and martin.
01:07:21.788 --> 01:07:35.126
Uh, martin did a lot of the the material side of things making it look visually good, and and he did some really unique stuff with the collision boxes for when you're drawing the bow back.
01:07:35.126 --> 01:07:47.864
But I spent weeks working on the physics of the bow to make it feel like you're actually pulling a string back, where most VR games it's just kind of on and off.
01:07:47.864 --> 01:07:59.737
You don't get that resistance of a string and I spent months on that and my bow is kind of a very dumbed down version of that because I didn't want to go wild with the physics.
01:07:59.737 --> 01:08:04.085
Such a gangster.
01:08:04.206 --> 01:08:05.086
I'll be honest with you.
01:08:05.086 --> 01:08:14.681
No, the level of, and when you figure that out for swordsman, are you able to take that knowledge right away into Grimm and cut all that development time out for Grimm, or is it like starting from scratch again?
01:08:17.015 --> 01:08:20.987
Same ideas, less complexity.
01:08:20.987 --> 01:08:24.721
Swordsman's a single-player game.
01:08:24.721 --> 01:08:27.543
I could get away with heavier physics stuff.
01:08:27.543 --> 01:08:33.963
Grimm's bow is a very, very dumbed-down version of swordsman's.
01:08:36.307 --> 01:08:37.449
Makes sense More primitive.
01:08:37.449 --> 01:08:40.835
No, makes total sense, especially for the environment.
01:08:42.561 --> 01:08:47.943
And what have been probably the most fun challenges in developing Grim.
01:08:51.518 --> 01:08:53.360
I don't know if any of it's been fun.
01:08:53.360 --> 01:08:54.582
That's fair.
01:09:00.315 --> 01:09:03.386
Fun in a sadistic way of you know being a workhorse.
01:09:03.614 --> 01:09:12.192
Well, and what makes you unique as well is like not only we know your program schedule is ridiculous, but you're also always looking at Discord.
01:09:12.192 --> 01:09:17.501
Not only we know your program schedule is ridiculous, but you're also always looking at Discord responding to people when you can.
01:09:17.501 --> 01:09:20.404
It's like dude.
01:09:20.404 --> 01:09:23.710
The brain is just going every different direction and pulling it off.
01:09:23.710 --> 01:09:34.362
It's quite the undertaking and doing it mainly solo to make it even more complex and maintaining a family Absolutely, fucking crazy.
01:09:35.314 --> 01:09:38.465
To be fair, solo makes it easier for me.
01:09:38.465 --> 01:09:45.387
If I had a team of 10 developers working on Grimm, I don't know what I'd do.
01:09:45.387 --> 01:09:47.662
I'd probably jump off a bridge.
01:09:49.195 --> 01:09:54.444
Well, at that point, the time is managing people, not actually being hands-on developing it.
01:10:00.963 --> 01:10:04.881
If I had more hands-on development, I'd probably still jump off a bridge.
01:10:07.436 --> 01:10:10.175
So this is like the ideal way that you prefer to operate.
01:10:10.555 --> 01:10:12.122
Yeah, that's how I like to work.
01:10:12.122 --> 01:10:24.524
Looking at what I built it all by myself when I was at Syn Studio, everything they asked me to do, it was kind of like hey, I don't want to work with anyone on this, I want to do it by myself.
01:10:24.524 --> 01:10:37.185
It's just, if I do it and that's not just development for me, that's with anything, whether it's home improvement, if I do it myself, I know it's done right.
01:10:37.185 --> 01:10:40.104
If something goes wrong, I know exactly where to look.
01:10:40.104 --> 01:10:41.721
I can fix it instantly.
01:10:41.721 --> 01:10:47.502
I don't have to go ask for different people what they did here or there and try to figure something out.
01:10:49.636 --> 01:10:51.963
Well, that's how we're getting this game is you know what works for you?
01:10:51.963 --> 01:10:54.302
You're a well-oiled machine.
01:10:55.975 --> 01:10:56.779
This scares me, though.
01:10:56.779 --> 01:11:04.204
When you have somebody with such a high standard for everything, it scares me for what I could encounter in a game.
01:11:04.534 --> 01:11:05.560
Well, it still has me cracking up.
01:11:05.560 --> 01:11:08.425
He doesn't know the standard of what to compare to for other Quest games.
01:11:08.425 --> 01:11:15.502
So I still think we're going to be getting, because I've only seen the PC VR version, I've not seen the Quest version yet.
01:11:15.502 --> 01:11:21.202
I think it's going to be way above what you would normally see.
01:11:22.019 --> 01:11:35.122
For the Quest user to be able to get a game like this on their headset is going to be special, even if it's painful and it's hard to do it and get it there, it's like that user base is going to be.
01:11:35.122 --> 01:11:38.842
I mean dude, it can be absolutely ginormous.
01:11:39.335 --> 01:11:42.655
And how do you get a game like this running on standalone Do?
01:11:42.655 --> 01:11:46.185
You use different textures that are lower resolution.
01:11:46.185 --> 01:11:47.443
Do you use less of this?
01:11:47.462 --> 01:11:54.663
I use 4K textures 4K textures for everything on Quest Quest 2, it cuts them down to 2K.
01:11:54.663 --> 01:11:58.404
I'll probably have to go further than that for Quest 2.
01:11:58.404 --> 01:12:08.948
I don't do all these tricks with running the second LOD of a model.
01:12:08.948 --> 01:12:23.903
Instead of PC has all the high poly or higher poly, most Quest games will give the second LOD, so they always get a first version, no matter how far or close they are.
01:12:23.903 --> 01:12:29.215
I keep the high poly version because I don't want to degrade the quality.
01:12:29.215 --> 01:12:30.402
Also because I don't have anything to compare it to.
01:12:30.402 --> 01:12:31.467
Because I haven't want to degrade the quality.
01:12:31.467 --> 01:12:35.104
Also because I don't have anything to compare it to, because I haven't played quest games.
01:12:35.104 --> 01:12:42.384
I can only look at a video and videos typically look better than what you're actually seeing and that's it.
01:12:46.131 --> 01:12:47.555
I think this is crazy, yeah.
01:12:48.115 --> 01:12:53.087
I'm so excited Chadwick in our discord, very generous day of you the other day.
01:12:53.087 --> 01:12:55.042
You give Chadwick access.
01:12:55.042 --> 01:12:58.845
Now we can start to build up our little rough talk army.
01:13:00.275 --> 01:13:01.440
Chadwick's probably in it right now.
01:13:02.136 --> 01:13:06.215
To be honest with you, I saw his sleeper on the ground last night.
01:13:06.215 --> 01:13:10.246
I almost killed him, but I decided not to.
01:13:10.954 --> 01:13:15.023
I think he said that he found your body somewhere.
01:13:15.984 --> 01:13:17.006
Yeah, probably.
01:13:17.328 --> 01:13:17.689
One of them.
01:13:17.689 --> 01:13:19.362
I have two bodies on the server.
01:13:19.362 --> 01:13:22.444
One's a quest body and the other one's a PT body.
01:13:24.818 --> 01:13:31.520
Are you the only person currently that's, I guess, using it For development stuff?
01:13:32.283 --> 01:13:47.978
I don't want anybody else like I haven't even let scott look at it yet because, like my standards are high, they're not there yet to where I want to show it all I can't wait to hear people's reaction internally at combat waffle when you finally show them off.
01:13:48.279 --> 01:13:49.341
The the quest version.
01:13:50.103 --> 01:14:00.768
So I can't remember who from the team, but they posted in Discord, if I remember correctly, that however good you think Grim is, it's 10 times better.
01:14:00.768 --> 01:14:07.887
And the first time I read that statement this was months ago I was like are you fucking kidding me?
01:14:07.887 --> 01:14:12.985
So to actually be able to visually go in there and see it, experience it now.
01:14:13.185 --> 01:14:17.405
Yeah, we've been excited for it for a couple months yeah, I'm biased Maybe six months now.
01:14:18.154 --> 01:14:23.323
It could have looked like Minecraft, I'd still be in love, but it doesn't when we know that.
01:14:23.494 --> 01:14:25.443
It's beyond lived up to expectations.
01:14:26.115 --> 01:14:27.983
It's already blown my.
01:14:27.983 --> 01:14:35.938
If you told me this is coming out tomorrow, I'd be like all right, sweet, it's good to go for me.
01:14:35.938 --> 01:14:44.881
So I mean that statement probably does hold true, whatever you're thinking about it, however good you think it's going to be it's going to be a lot more.
01:14:44.902 --> 01:14:48.976
If this drops Q4 2024, it's going to be the biggest game of the year, without a doubt.
01:14:48.976 --> 01:14:52.164
In my opinion, it's going to be the biggest game of the year, without a doubt.
01:14:52.204 --> 01:14:54.270
In my opinion, it's gonna be interesting holidays for a lot of people.
01:14:54.270 --> 01:14:58.740
No doubt they're gonna have time for that shit so so spoon, spoon fed.
01:14:58.961 --> 01:15:02.067
Thank you so much for taking the time to join us today.
01:15:02.067 --> 01:15:09.801
I said at the start I didn't think that this was an interview we were ever ever gonna get so like a kid in a candy shop right now it's not happening.
01:15:09.841 --> 01:15:10.363
I'm excited.
01:15:10.363 --> 01:15:10.885
This was a.
01:15:10.885 --> 01:15:11.717
This was a fun one.
01:15:11.717 --> 01:15:13.243
I beg for another one.
01:15:13.243 --> 01:15:25.006
I think for our listeners, they're going to really appreciate hearing from you directly, also getting you know a couple tips for when the game's out how to, you know, navigate just a little bit better, uh, but again, just huge.
01:15:25.006 --> 01:15:26.036
Thank you for taking the time.
01:15:26.036 --> 01:15:36.957
Uh, kind of silly, but anything you want to say you know to the listeners or anybody in your discord, or stuff like that, I guess how people can not really not at all like.
01:15:37.037 --> 01:15:38.261
I just want to work on the game.
01:15:38.261 --> 01:15:40.140
I'm not into all that.
01:15:41.443 --> 01:15:43.494
That was my gut impression.
01:15:44.377 --> 01:15:48.074
I do hope when people hear this and they do post on discord.
01:15:48.074 --> 01:15:50.976
There's a lot of begging, a lot of like questions.
01:15:50.976 --> 01:15:54.199
Spoon this, spoon now unity, unity, unreal.
01:15:54.199 --> 01:15:57.284
It's like they're hearing it firsthand.
01:15:57.284 --> 01:15:58.608
Like no, I am really.
01:15:58.608 --> 01:16:00.618
I'm trying to make this game.
01:16:00.898 --> 01:16:20.344
Every minute I have to spend trying to answer, yeah, very repetitive questions, it's like it just doesn't work that's why I typically don't respond to all the questions like that, because I I would rather be working on the game than promoting the game, like I'm trying to make the game be as a consumer.
01:16:20.384 --> 01:16:23.475
I appreciate that too, because that's how it, that's how we end up with good products.
01:16:23.576 --> 01:16:32.409
If you're ever in discord and someone comes in hot and the response is all right, bye, and that person's booted.
01:16:32.409 --> 01:16:35.595
Oh my god, I die fucking laughing.
01:16:35.595 --> 01:16:37.020
I'm like I sent you message.
01:16:37.020 --> 01:16:40.755
I'm like damn spoon fed doesn't play when you act up in his server.
01:16:40.755 --> 01:16:43.239
Talk some shit like why are you here?
01:16:43.319 --> 01:16:54.404
you know, talk some more shit, bye like this is fucking great but no it's important for people to really know and that's why I asked how many hours a week do you legit work?
01:16:54.404 --> 01:16:56.582
Because I know you're burning all the time.
01:16:56.582 --> 01:17:08.104
But I don't think people recognize or really appreciate that the less time people bug you, the more time Spoon has to program, the quicker we get the game and the questions can stop.
01:17:08.654 --> 01:17:13.064
And when people do play it, just know it was one guy making it all and two artists.
01:17:13.064 --> 01:17:15.828
No, it's ridiculous, it's incredible.
01:17:15.828 --> 01:17:18.958
Hopefully three artists, three artists.
01:17:18.979 --> 01:17:20.020
Hopefully, hopefully.
01:17:21.363 --> 01:17:23.145
Incredible, incredible.
01:17:23.145 --> 01:17:27.101
I'm excited, like I said, it comes out at the end of the year.
01:17:27.101 --> 01:17:35.887
If it comes out in Q4, it's going to be the biggest game of the year in vr in my opinion it's, it's on paper, a game of the year contender.
01:17:35.887 --> 01:17:41.185
So when, as soon as it comes out, stay tuned for grim coming, hopefully later this year.
01:17:41.185 --> 01:17:42.497
I'm sure we'll be talking.
01:17:42.497 --> 01:17:43.703
We'll be talking about it every week.
01:17:43.703 --> 01:17:46.697
Yeah, to be honest with you, we already we're talking about on monday's episode.
01:17:46.737 --> 01:17:52.386
It's probably going to be, like I said, a week I make it a point to talk about it or try to at least mention the word grim.
01:17:52.386 --> 01:17:56.279
I stuck it into an interview a couple of times, which is funny.
01:17:56.539 --> 01:18:02.868
I was like that's a real grim situation well, it's going to be another great example of make a game people want and look at the results.
01:18:02.868 --> 01:18:19.480
You know there's me and you have been wanting a rust in vr since we got vr and that's why I was so excited for games like Township Tale, which we're good and it's being made by somebody who's like honestly, like a specialist and like if you were a surgeon you'd be the go-to, because like well, I want to live.
01:18:19.601 --> 01:18:25.595
You know, I don't want to just gamble on, I want the best there is, and there's no doubt programming.
01:18:25.614 --> 01:18:26.560
Before we go.
01:18:26.560 --> 01:18:31.261
People have always been asking about PSVR 2.
01:18:31.261 --> 01:18:41.886
I am working on PSVR 2, the dev kit, so people know that it is coming.
01:18:43.930 --> 01:18:47.462
Even better, you're not ignoring the PlayStation crowd.
01:18:47.462 --> 01:18:48.685
It's in the works.
01:18:49.106 --> 01:18:53.826
Yeah, and my goal is to make it look just as good as PC.
01:18:56.456 --> 01:19:03.068
You know you single-handedly could float their ecosystem with Grimm.
01:19:03.068 --> 01:19:09.867
Yeah, and that's not an insult to anybody, it's just Sony's a little weird with what they got going on.
01:19:09.867 --> 01:19:14.759
So that's huge for um playstation players like real huge.
01:19:14.759 --> 01:19:16.743
And I have heard that question has it coming to?
01:19:16.743 --> 01:19:18.376
Is it coming to playstation?
01:19:19.057 --> 01:19:22.686
I figured I'd clear that up while I could you got the dev kit in the back.
01:19:22.707 --> 01:19:27.005
You're working on it it's in the works it'll come to be when it's ready, it's ready.
01:19:27.005 --> 01:19:29.010
Shit either until it's ready, it's ready.
01:19:29.029 --> 01:19:31.175
Some people don't believe shit either, until it's like, yeah, I mean the dev kit's, right there.
01:19:32.235 --> 01:19:33.079
It's working on it.
01:19:33.079 --> 01:19:36.323
Dev kit computer editor opened.
01:19:36.323 --> 01:19:38.822
Guys, don't stress, I'm hard at work.
01:19:38.822 --> 01:19:40.849
I'm working Great.
01:19:40.849 --> 01:19:41.390
I love it.
01:19:41.390 --> 01:19:42.734
So great stuff.
01:19:42.734 --> 01:19:45.283
Thank you so much for taking the time to join us today.
01:19:45.283 --> 01:19:46.841
The listeners stay tuned for Grimm.
01:19:46.841 --> 01:19:52.582
This is going to be freaking insane.
01:19:52.582 --> 01:19:53.027
I can't say it enough.
01:19:53.027 --> 01:19:53.532
Take over the VR scene.
01:19:53.532 --> 01:19:57.550
Yeah, so great stuff, and I guess we'll be back with you next week, so stay tuned.
