Speaker 1: Danielle stein uh she is she is busy day-to-day just carrying nick carboni at wcnc in the sports department and she is nice enough to join us here to probably carry the segment and carry us for a segment what's up danielle how you doing How are we doing?
00:00:15
Speaker 2: I'm doing great. You spoke to my northern heart also by talking about the Wegmans opening, and I might be making an appearance later today as well.
00:00:24
Speaker 1: Okay, so I need to ask you, first of all, where are you from in the north? And then secondly, explain to us what makes Wegmans so special, because some people get it and some people, like some of us, just don't get it.
00:00:39
Speaker 3: You know?
00:00:40
Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah. I mean, it's a grocery store, but it's really good. I mean, they have really good prepared food. Their pizza is really good. Their hot bar is really good. Their fresh sushi actually is the best grocery store sushi, I would say. They just have a lot of good stuff. Really crazy fonts all around the store, though. Signage is kind of weird, but it's a fun time. And I'm from Boston, so we had one around me growing up. I also lived in Virginia for a couple of years, and we had one in in Charlottesville, where I live there, too. So I've been a Wegmans loyalist for some time.
00:01:13
Speaker 3: The reports coming in that we see are unreal. Someone says... people have brought their own chairs and they're sitting around Cheese Island right now.
00:01:22
Speaker 2: Yeah, I saw that. Isn't that pretty crazy?
00:01:25
Speaker 4: This is an event. They may not leave. This is a resort for some of these folks. It's a freaking event, man.
00:01:31
Speaker 1: All right.
00:01:31
Speaker 4: Well, I am very intrigued. I'm very intrigued.
00:01:34
Speaker 2: It's worth the trip to Valentine's Day.
00:01:36
Speaker 1: I like that idea. I'm going to let everybody chill out a little bit. I'll stick to my local Costco and I'll like it for now.
00:01:42
Speaker 2: There you go.
00:01:43
Speaker 4: All right.
00:01:44
Speaker 1: So, Danielle, I want to ask you about... Taylor Moten's return. Listen to him talk. First of all, he's such a likable dude as it is, but when you listen to him talk about the blood clots and him coughing up blood and just how scary this must have been for him and that there is some risk of him coming back and playing football, but he thinks it's not great and he loves the game. Listen to him talk yesterday is a we can't just treat him like some dude we desperately want back to help protect Bryce. Like this is bigger than football. What did you think about hearing about his story?
00:02:21
Speaker 3: Yeah.
00:02:21
Speaker 2: That's where the difference between being on the IR versus the non injured, you know, list come into play too, where you realize, Hey, this is obviously bigger than football. This is someone taking care of their own wellbeing. And that should be what everyone does prioritize. You always need to listen to your body. You always need to make sure you're taking care of yourself in those ways. But yeah, I mean, Timo's amazing, like you said. He's been around this team for so long. He is so well-liked. Dave was telling us a fun anecdote, how, like, everyone has a running joke that everyone just says, happy birthday, Timo, whenever they see him. Just, like, whenever it's not his birthday. And he's kind of like the fun uncle, was what they described. And I totally see that because he's just such a good guy. I remember last year when we were talking to him at the beginning of, before the season started and he hadn't, had that next option picked up and he wasn't sure exactly what his situation was going to be here in Carolina long-term or anything like that. And he cried at the podium talking about what this city, what this team means to him. And that's the kind of leader you need. Obviously a field says one thing, but the kind of person that they have in this locker room who we've been seeing out at practice pretty much every single day, he's always taking laps around the field pregame. I always, say hey to him whenever we have the past two home games and he's doing his laps around the field. He's someone who's been around. So to be obviously so candid about his own health scares and, you know, graphic was pretty, pretty detailed and being as open with us as he was. I think that says so much about the kind of guy he is and what kind of player the Panthers will be getting back for this next part of their season.
00:04:07
Speaker 3: Danielle opinions vary on this but the eagles are an injured mess coming off a a terrible way to lose for themselves in london would you rather them come in feeling this down or would you rather than be on a high than we thought they were almost at against jacksonville what what's your opinion on that do you like the eagles being down or would you rather them feeling good about themselves I mean, a.
00:04:31
Speaker 2: Win's a win however way you get it. If they're feeling good, if they're not feeling good, it doesn't matter as long as the Panthers are feeling good. That's, I guess, how it should play out. Obviously, good games for viewers come when both teams are looking some of their sharpest, whether that be Saquon, if he's going to be available or not. But, I mean, I think they would rather just get the win no matter whichever way it spins out.
00:04:57
Speaker 4: Works out.
00:04:58
Speaker 1: All right.
00:05:01
Speaker 4: You got a wind gust there, Danielle? What's going on there? Yeah, my bad. Okay.
00:05:07
Speaker 2: Is it really loud?
00:05:08
Speaker 4: That one was. That one got one got. I thought you were in a wind tunnel.
00:05:11
Speaker 3: It was kind of soothing because it stopped Mac from talking for a second.
00:05:14
Speaker 4: I couldn't say anything.
00:05:14
Speaker 1: Bone loved it.
00:05:15
Speaker 2: It was the old rail trail. That's so my fault. Yeah, I'm outside.
00:05:19
Speaker 4: Oh, it's all good.
00:05:19
Speaker 2: The old rail trail.
00:05:20
Speaker 1: I thought Danielle Stein was reporting live from the NASCAR wind tunnel. That's what I thought was going on there. All right. Daniel Stein, WCNC is with us. How do you feel about Bryce? We talked about this earlier, like, and I'll throw the offense in too. Do you expect Bryce and the offense to do this for the full season? I know there's some people that are like afraid it's going to drop off. Bone and I, Bone and I feel like this is a, this is going to be a pretty damn good offense for 17 games.
00:05:50
Speaker 4: How do you feel about that?
00:05:52
Speaker 2: I feel pretty similar. I think that what we're seeing is kind of what we're getting. Of course, there's going to be some uncontrollables, whether people are injured or things like that. But one thing about Bryce is I do feel like he's pretty consistent in how he answers questions, how he does his workouts, how he does just his whole life. So once Bryce seems like he's doing something a certain way, it feels like this could be what we would expect to see, especially now that we have four games of a sample size and his numbers have been excellent. It's not like they've had real drop-offs, even that Cleveland game that they say wasn't maybe their strongest offensive. He still had two 91, I believe for passing hard. So Bryce looks sharp. He's like, I say, we talked to him after this bi-week and we, you know, we just saw this whole media tour that he just did between going on game day and going on Monday night football with Manning cast, things like that. And he's like, yeah, it's good experiences, but like just really happy to be back in this building and getting to work with my guys.
00:06:56
Speaker 3: What do you think of the job that Brad has done so far as a play caller?
00:07:01
Speaker 2: I think it's great. I think, I think what's great is it seems like Bryce and TMAC and all of the other offensive weapons seem to be happy about it. And I think that's obviously what's the most important. clear that they're really opening up Bryce's game. He's looking to a lot of different targets as well. Of course, this last one was big on TMAC, but the fact that they're incorporating as many of the tight ends as regularly as they are right now, I think is really great. And it's allowing Bryce, it looks like, to play a lot more freely.
00:07:31
Speaker 4: No doubt. No doubt about it. All right, Danielle. Well, hey, it's good.
00:07:35
Speaker 1: Good to talk to you. Good to catch up with you. And certainly fun talking about this Panther team. Hopefully that'll be the same after Sunday. Thanks for coming on. Anything specifically you and Carboni are cooking up on WCNC?
00:07:48
Speaker 4: Anything you want to promote specifically?
00:07:49
Speaker 2: Oh, let's see. I did my one-on-one. I do typically a weekly one-on-one with a player. This week I got undrafted rookie Aaron Hall, who was first of all, such a nice guy and such a good interview. But what a cool story. One of three players on this team to get on that 53 after being undrafted, not an easy thing, but he's played in all four games. He had a start. He's looked really sharp and there's some changes to that room. We know that cam Jackson is now going to be out for the season. So he very well could be sticking around in this lineup, even if Turk Wharton is back in it. So there's a little bit of change coming in that room. Um, and then I guess on the side, something fun I've been doing, I don't know if you guys have been seeing this, but whenever I chat with any of the athletes, I like to talk about food quite a bit. Um, So I've been doing a little social series, which has been really fun, called Taste of the Pros. And I ask guys, like, all right, you're around Charlotte. You want a bite to eat. Where are you going? And what are you ordering? Nice. And then I go and try what they're doing. So people have been awesome about it. Let me think. Like, Devin Lloyd sent me to Del Frisco's, so opened my wallet up there big time. But, like, Jimmy Horn Jr. loved Nana Morrison's soul food. Before he had left, I had asked him that one. So it's just been cool to know what people's favorite bites are around the city.
00:09:19
Speaker 4: That's awesome.
00:09:20
Speaker 2: That's a cool idea. Yeah. People like it. And what person in general doesn't like to answer what their favorite foods are to eat?
00:09:28
Speaker 4: Absolutely. You are speaking our language now.
00:09:30
Speaker 3: That's what most of our segments turn into, to be honest with you.
00:09:33
Speaker 4: I love it. I love it. So that's very cool. All right, Danielle.
00:09:36
Speaker 1: Well, hey, good to catch up with you. And thanks for coming on. Keep up the good work.
00:09:41
Speaker 2: Appreciate you guys. Have a good one.
Speaker 1: Danielle stein uh she is she is busy day-to-day just carrying nick carboni at wcnc in the sports department and she is nice enough to join us here to probably carry the segment and carry us for a segment what's up danielle how you doing How are we doing?
