Imagine being a psychotherapist, diagnosing other people with ADHD for years and not realizing you have it yourself. That's where Diann Wingert's story begins. Diann is a psychotherapist turned ADHD-informed business strategist and host of the ADHD-ish podcast, and she's an open book. Patrick sits down with her to talk about her own late-in-life diagnosis, raising three kids with ADHD, and the wake-up call of recognizing in herself what she'd treated in clients for years. Together they get into why so many people, especially high-achievers go undiagnosed for decades, what actually happens emotionally when the diagnosis finally comes, the truth about medication and whether a formal evaluation is even worth it, and how to rewrite a lifetime of believing you were "lazy" or "too much." It's a real, honest conversation about masking, shame, emotional regulation, and the self-compassion it takes to stop fighting your own brain. Whether you have ADHD, love someone who does, or just feel like you've been running on empty and can't figure out why this one's full of "that's me" moments.
