Resident Evil (2002)

This week on the Everything Actioncast, Zach and Chris try to avoid getting infected by the T-Virus and discuss 2002's Resident Evil as Zach Cregger's spin on the franchise hits theaters.

Written and directed by Paul W.S. Anderson, Resident Evil stars Milla Jovovich as the amnesiac Umbrella operative Alice.  When an outbreak of the T-Virus infects The Hive, the facility's AI, The Red Queen (Michaela Dicker), locks it down and kills everyone inside.  Umbrella dispatches a special ops team to take the Red Queen offline, believing she's gone haywire, but they soon learn the virus turned everyone in the complex into zombies, and they're fighting for their lives to escape.  Zach and Chris discuss how Umbrella didn't know that a virus was unleashed in their secret lab, why part of the security protocol is drugging your guards protecting the secret entrance, the ridiculous amount of bites that Michelle Rodriguez takes, the iconic laser sequence, and more.

You can buy or rent Resident Evil on Prime Video, Apple TV and Fandango.  Next week, we're watching out for The Feather Men and discussing 2011's Killer Elite, which is turning 15.
