Episode 16 hits the road as Barry and Jonathan head to Taylor Ranch to sit down with CrossRoads worship leader and elder Travis Taylor. Before getting to Travis’ story, there’s plenty of important business to handle, including questionable church reviews, prison-food reviews, chicken-fried steak, and whether Travis might secretly be the future sponsor of the podcast.
Then the conversation turns to a story that winds from a wild childhood in Houston to a faith that became personal, playing football, writing worship songs, touring and recording music, and eventually spending ten years leading worship in California. Through every unexpected turn, Travis shares how he learned to recognize God’s direction and trust the moments when God seemed to be saying, “Hey, I’m in this.”
Travis also shares what brought his family back to Texas and eventually to CrossRoads, including what struck him the first time he walked into a worship gathering: it wasn’t about the music, it was a room full of people genuinely worshiping Jesus.
It’s a conversation about calling, family, worship, unexpected seasons, and learning to see the faithfulness of God through all of them. Plus, we discover Travis’ favorite kid. At least for now.
