8
00:00:24.480 --> 00:00:29.239
crime story that's been heavy on my noggin, and I

00:00:31.760 --> 00:00:33.640

14
00:00:48.640 --> 00:00:51.920
and I mean I did it all live. It was
15
00:00:51.960 --> 00:00:55.759
so fun engaging with you guys like it was so fun.
16
00:00:55.880 --> 00:00:59.880
There were tons of like incredible comments and questions and
17
00:01:00.000 --> 00:01:02.600
and I hope to do it again. I just cannot
18
00:01:02.640 --> 00:01:05.359
thank you all enough. It was so much fun and
19

it's all thanks to you, my audience. The story itself
20
00:01:09.079 --> 00:01:12.079
was crazy. I already wasn't a big fan of camping,
21
00:01:12.200 --> 00:01:15.879
or biking. But now, you know, just really solidified that.
22
00:01:16.280 --> 00:01:18.439
But here's the thing. Maybe you didn't get a chance
23
00:01:18.480 --> 00:01:20.680

slash m m M. Now let's get into today's episode
46
00:02:35.000 --> 00:02:39.560
of Murder, Mystery and Makeup. So Halloween, I wanted to
47
00:02:39.560 --> 00:02:42.680
do a look. I watched the show Chimp Crazy and
48
00:02:43.039 --> 00:02:47.400
Tanya Haddocks. I'm feeling inspired by her look. If you're
49
00:02:47.439 --> 00:02:49.599
not familiar with the show, I would say watch Chimp
50
00:02:49.639 --> 00:02:52.520
Crazy and so on HBO or Max whatever the frick
51
00:02:52.560 --> 00:02:58.080
their name is, and Tanya has a very interesting look. Again,
52
00:02:58.120 --> 00:03:00.919
if you're not familiar, I'm gonna be paying myself like orange. Okay,
53
00:03:01.000 --> 00:03:03.639
just go with it while I talk about today's story.
54
00:03:04.360 --> 00:03:09.000
It's Halloween. Leave the judgment behind. Thank you so much.
55
00:03:09.120 --> 00:03:10.960
If you're curious to know what products I'm using, I'll
56
00:03:10.960 --> 00:03:13.840
link them down below. But we'll see how this goes.
57
00:03:13.879 --> 00:03:17.439
It's been a while since I've done like Halloween. Luck. So,
58
00:03:18.439 --> 00:03:21.800
have you ever heard the saying not everything that glitters
59
00:03:22.400 --> 00:03:25.719
is gold? Well, let me tell you there's no truer
60
00:03:25.800 --> 00:03:29.840
example of that than the story of Aaron Hernandez. Now
61
00:03:29.879 --> 00:03:32.719
this man who seemed to like have it all. He
62
00:03:32.879 --> 00:03:39.080
had it all, booming NFL career, loving fiance, beautiful daughter,
63
00:03:39.360 --> 00:03:43.240
a lifestyle that most people would like dream of, plus
64
00:03:43.280 --> 00:03:46.319
great teeth, great teeth. But behind like all that glitz,
65
00:03:46.680 --> 00:03:50.240
all of that, there was a darkness, a darkness so
66
00:03:50.400 --> 00:03:53.800
deep and tangled that even those closest to him could
67
00:03:53.840 --> 00:03:58.319
not see it coming. So buckle up, baby, because today
68
00:03:58.319 --> 00:04:01.319
we are diving headfirst into one of the most shocking
69
00:04:01.360 --> 00:04:06.439
and downright twisted stories in NFL history. Oh yes, that
70
00:04:06.560 --> 00:04:08.759
was a good intro. Aaron Hernandez went from the top
71
00:04:08.800 --> 00:04:12.560
of the sports world to freakin' rock bottom, and the
72
00:04:12.599 --> 00:04:15.840
fall was violent, it was fast, and it was full
73
00:04:16.319 --> 00:04:20.480
of secrets. Aaron Hernandez, his brother actually wrote a book
74
00:04:21.040 --> 00:04:24.199
about his brother, Erin so I read his brother's book
75
00:04:24.240 --> 00:04:25.759
and that's where, like a lot of I got a
76
00:04:25.800 --> 00:04:29.079
lot of information from it. Gave a lot of context too.
77
00:04:29.360 --> 00:04:33.800
But let me just get into it. So Aaron Michael Hernandez.
78
00:04:33.839 --> 00:04:39.199
He was born in Bristol, Connecticut, on November sixth, nineteen
79
00:04:39.720 --> 00:04:43.519
eighty nine. He was the second son to his parents,
80
00:04:43.560 --> 00:04:50.800
Dennis Hernandez and Terry Valentine Hernandez. I know, Valentine cute
81
00:04:50.879 --> 00:04:56.040
last name, but according to Aaron, he said, look, growing
82
00:04:56.120 --> 00:04:58.199
up in the home, there was like constant fighting going on.
83
00:04:58.560 --> 00:05:02.199
Is toxic. Aaron's da his name was Dennis. He actually
84
00:05:02.240 --> 00:05:06.399
had like a nickname. In the city of Bristol. Everyone
85
00:05:06.480 --> 00:05:09.600
kind of called him the King because Dennis, he was
86
00:05:09.600 --> 00:05:12.600
regarded as like a local success story. It was said
87
00:05:12.839 --> 00:05:15.839
Dennis that he grew up as a quote like scrappy
88
00:05:15.959 --> 00:05:19.560
kid who grew up in a family with Puerto Rican roots,
89
00:05:19.920 --> 00:05:22.600
and as he was growing up, he had a lot
90
00:05:22.639 --> 00:05:25.160
of run ins with the law. But he was able
91
00:05:25.199 --> 00:05:27.920
to like pull himself together as a teenager and become
92
00:05:28.079 --> 00:05:32.920
a Bristol Central High football star and had a football
93
00:05:33.079 --> 00:05:39.040
scholarship to the University of Connecticut, Connecticut thank you. And
94
00:05:39.079 --> 00:05:41.800
again this was Aaron's dad. But you know, like those
95
00:05:41.879 --> 00:05:45.720
dreams didn't last forever. When he was done playing football,
96
00:05:46.079 --> 00:05:49.079
he didn't go like pro or anything, and he ended
97
00:05:49.160 --> 00:05:53.519
up becoming a high school janitor. And Aaron's mom she
98
00:05:53.680 --> 00:05:57.360
was working as a school secretary, which isn't bad, it's
99
00:05:57.439 --> 00:06:01.000
just you know, he wanted more. So usually when a
100
00:06:01.040 --> 00:06:04.639
parent has big dreams, what happens they pushed that onto
101
00:06:04.680 --> 00:06:09.000
their children, and it definitely seemed like this was the case.
102
00:06:09.399 --> 00:06:12.560
It was said that both of the parents they were
103
00:06:12.560 --> 00:06:15.720
pretty rough in like their own ways, and both of
104
00:06:15.759 --> 00:06:19.839
them would be arrested and involved in crime during their lives.
105
00:06:20.399 --> 00:06:24.920
When Aaron was three years old, his father, Dennis, he
106
00:06:25.160 --> 00:06:28.519
was arrested and charged with like trying to buy cocaine
107
00:06:28.560 --> 00:06:31.560
from an undercover cop. He had a bit of a
108
00:06:31.639 --> 00:06:36.439
drug problem. Not great, right, And then when Aaron was eight,
109
00:06:36.759 --> 00:06:40.399
his father he got into a fight with one of
110
00:06:40.399 --> 00:06:43.480
the school of football coaches and ended up punching him
111
00:06:43.480 --> 00:06:48.759
in the face, which led to his arrest. He's one
112
00:06:48.759 --> 00:06:52.360
of those parents, you know what I'm saying. And then
113
00:06:52.800 --> 00:06:58.279
when Aaron was eleven, his mom got arrested for being
114
00:06:58.360 --> 00:07:03.240
part of an underground sports gambling bookie operation that was
115
00:07:03.319 --> 00:07:06.240
working out of the family home. So what I'm getting
116
00:07:06.279 --> 00:07:09.480
at is there was a lot going on. There was
117
00:07:09.519 --> 00:07:12.360
a lot going on. It was said that Aaron's father
118
00:07:12.519 --> 00:07:17.600
was pretty hardcore, like he would often beat and belittle
119
00:07:17.639 --> 00:07:20.759
the kids like nothing they did was good enough, and
120
00:07:21.160 --> 00:07:24.720
if their father was drinking it seemed to be worse.
121
00:07:25.560 --> 00:07:27.959
But usually he would tell the kids, like you're not
122
00:07:28.000 --> 00:07:30.079
working hard enough. They were just never doing like the
123
00:07:30.120 --> 00:07:34.040
right thing, you know. And as a kid, what I
124
00:07:34.040 --> 00:07:36.360
read in the book was that they still love their dad.
125
00:07:36.439 --> 00:07:38.680
I mean, as a kid, you just want your parents' approval.
126
00:07:38.759 --> 00:07:41.279
So it's like they were just going above and beyond
127
00:07:41.279 --> 00:07:44.160
trying to prove to their father that they were good enough.
128
00:07:44.399 --> 00:07:47.560
It was said that like Aaron and his brother, they
129
00:07:47.600 --> 00:07:51.160
lived in constant fear of like their father's beatings, which
130
00:07:51.199 --> 00:07:54.040
were so bad that like at times they would threaten
131
00:07:54.120 --> 00:07:56.519
their dad that they were going to call the police
132
00:07:56.560 --> 00:07:59.079
and in hopes that he would stop, but the dad
133
00:07:59.079 --> 00:08:02.600
would be like, go ahead, call them, and like hand
134
00:08:02.839 --> 00:08:05.560
the kids the phone, like go ahead, do it. And
135
00:08:05.600 --> 00:08:07.759
then he would tell the kids like, if you call
136
00:08:07.800 --> 00:08:09.839
the police, I'm just gonna beat you even harder, So
137
00:08:10.720 --> 00:08:15.199
go ahead, you know. And as a child, I'm sure
138
00:08:15.240 --> 00:08:21.120
that's not ideal, you know, sucks. He just seemed to
139
00:08:21.160 --> 00:08:23.959
really mean. Aaron would say that he remembered his mother
140
00:08:24.079 --> 00:08:28.160
like throwing his father out of the house on multiple occasions,
141
00:08:28.160 --> 00:08:30.600
but she would always end up like letting him back.
142
00:08:30.639 --> 00:08:33.919
In Aaron's family, they would all get together from time
143
00:08:34.000 --> 00:08:35.799
to time, you know, and that's when he saw that
144
00:08:35.879 --> 00:08:39.960
his cousins were into cheerleading, and to him, it seemed
145
00:08:40.039 --> 00:08:43.480
really fun, and his cousins were like really good at it.
146
00:08:43.879 --> 00:08:48.000
They're doing flips, they're cheerleading, you know. And Aaron said
147
00:08:48.000 --> 00:08:51.360
that he wanted to be a cheerleader because his cousins
148
00:08:51.399 --> 00:08:54.039
cousins were good at it, and he wanted to do
149
00:08:54.120 --> 00:08:57.000
it too. So I guess he told his parents that
150
00:08:57.080 --> 00:09:00.639
he wanted to do cheerleading, and let me tell you,
151
00:09:00.720 --> 00:09:04.000
that did not go well. Aaron's dad was just straight
152
00:09:04.080 --> 00:09:08.639
up like homophobic. He would call Aaron and his brother
153
00:09:08.879 --> 00:09:13.519
like just awful slurs, the bad ones all the time.
154
00:09:13.600 --> 00:09:16.120
And even in the book it was saying that Aaron's
155
00:09:16.200 --> 00:09:19.840
dad used to say that the way Aaron like stood
156
00:09:20.039 --> 00:09:22.159
or like had his hands on his hips and stuff,
157
00:09:23.200 --> 00:09:26.639
he would call him. He would just say, like, don't
158
00:09:26.639 --> 00:09:31.159
stand like that, you look like a f ward, you know.
159
00:09:31.639 --> 00:09:35.360
And it was a lot of that. So him wanting
160
00:09:35.399 --> 00:09:39.279
to be a cheerleader was just oh, hell no, okay,
161
00:09:39.279 --> 00:09:41.039
he was not going to be a cheerleader and it
162
00:09:41.120 --> 00:09:46.440
was not acceptable to his father. So instead, you know,
163
00:09:46.840 --> 00:09:51.320
their dad really focused on putting the kids into sports,
164
00:09:51.919 --> 00:09:56.000
you know, and they would play sports any chance they could,
165
00:09:56.399 --> 00:10:01.240
so they would play basketball, they would play football, and
166
00:10:01.320 --> 00:10:03.279
it seemed like their father and father just wanted like
167
00:10:03.320 --> 00:10:05.639
the voice of focus on football and be famous football
168
00:10:05.639 --> 00:10:08.080
players really, you know, and just be like the best
169
00:10:08.159 --> 00:10:12.480
at it. Well, of course Aaron played football, you know,
170
00:10:12.639 --> 00:10:15.679
and he was really good at it. He was really
171
00:10:15.720 --> 00:10:19.639
good at it. He attended Bristol Central High School, where
172
00:10:19.639 --> 00:10:24.759
he was named high School All American after catching twenty
173
00:10:24.799 --> 00:10:28.679
four touchdowns. When he was in elementary school. In middle school,
174
00:10:28.720 --> 00:10:30.960
was said that Aaron was like really skinny and just
175
00:10:31.159 --> 00:10:32.960
kind of like lanky, you know. But then when he
176
00:10:33.039 --> 00:10:36.559
reached high school, he went through like a gross spurt
177
00:10:36.720 --> 00:10:39.759
where he reached six foot two and he got all
178
00:10:39.879 --> 00:10:45.600
muscular and like he was practicing harder at football than
179
00:10:45.639 --> 00:10:49.320
anyone else. And he would tell his brother like, dude,
180
00:10:49.320 --> 00:10:50.720
I'm going to be the best. I'm going to be
181
00:10:50.759 --> 00:10:53.600
the best. And he was like just determined to be
182
00:10:53.639 --> 00:10:56.440
a star. It's such a shame because like I don't
183
00:10:56.440 --> 00:10:59.600
really understand the football lingo a lot, but based off
184
00:10:59.639 --> 00:11:01.639
what I was, I mean like he was really really
185
00:11:01.679 --> 00:11:06.879
good and really something special. It's just a shame. Thank
186
00:11:06.919 --> 00:11:09.159
you for coming to my ted talk. So he's determined
187
00:11:09.200 --> 00:11:11.320
to be a star and things were like really working
188
00:11:11.360 --> 00:11:14.039
out for him. During his junior year, he had captured
189
00:11:14.039 --> 00:11:17.799
the attention of college recruiters across the country. He was
190
00:11:17.840 --> 00:11:22.840
getting calls from places like the University of Michigan, Notre Dame,
191
00:11:23.240 --> 00:11:27.320
Boston College, and the University of Florida. So it's like
192
00:11:27.679 --> 00:11:30.279
he's got options. Okay, Look, this is a side note
193
00:11:30.279 --> 00:11:33.159
because I left it out of the script. Technically, like
194
00:11:33.519 --> 00:11:36.120
he was supposed to go to the University of Connecticut
195
00:11:36.159 --> 00:11:38.519
and kind of like made a deal with the football
196
00:11:38.519 --> 00:11:40.759
coach there that he was going to go there. But
197
00:11:41.000 --> 00:11:44.360
then after realizing he had other options, he decided he
198
00:11:44.399 --> 00:11:45.960
wanted to go somewhere else. And there was some kind
199
00:11:46.000 --> 00:11:48.840
of like drama with that. But I'm breezing past it
200
00:11:49.159 --> 00:11:53.960
because it doesn't it doesn't matter just saying that, because
201
00:11:54.120 --> 00:11:57.679
if you're an Aaron Hernandez fan, you're probably like, why
202
00:11:57.679 --> 00:12:02.039
aren't you mentioning that? There? You go, Okay, great. So
203
00:12:02.240 --> 00:12:07.120
then Aaron's junior year of high school two thousand and six,
204
00:12:07.799 --> 00:12:12.639
Aaron's father, Dennis, he would go in, Who's having stomach problems?
205
00:12:12.759 --> 00:12:15.559
So he went in for a hernia surgery. You know,
206
00:12:15.559 --> 00:12:19.960
it's a routine surgery, removing the hernia whatever. After the surgery,
207
00:12:20.080 --> 00:12:22.039
like he's healing fine, and then all of a sudden,
208
00:12:22.200 --> 00:12:24.919
just like things started to go downhill, and they went
209
00:12:24.960 --> 00:12:29.159
downhill quick, and Dennis, his dad ended up passing away
210
00:12:29.240 --> 00:12:32.279
at the age of forty nine. It said he got
211
00:12:32.360 --> 00:12:36.639
toxic shock and then he died. So again, it was
212
00:12:36.720 --> 00:12:39.440
just supposed to be a simple surgery, right, and like
213
00:12:39.639 --> 00:12:42.360
none of it made sense, and this was a huge
214
00:12:42.720 --> 00:12:45.879
loss to the family. And this is really when things
215
00:12:46.080 --> 00:12:50.360
just start going downhill. After his father's death, it was
216
00:12:50.399 --> 00:12:54.840
said that Aaron started dabbling with drugs. A friend and
217
00:12:54.960 --> 00:12:57.120
like a teammate of his his name was also Dennis.
218
00:12:57.759 --> 00:13:00.519
He recalled like smoking a lot of wheed with Aaron
219
00:13:00.720 --> 00:13:05.799
before school, before practice and even like after the after
220
00:13:05.879 --> 00:13:08.240
football games and stuff. I guess they were high like
221
00:13:08.879 --> 00:13:13.480
all the time in high school. Then things got messy.
222
00:13:13.799 --> 00:13:16.759
So some of like Aaron's relatives, they also lived in Bristol,
223
00:13:16.840 --> 00:13:19.279
and they you know, they were close. He had one cousin.
224
00:13:19.360 --> 00:13:22.960
Her name was Tanya, and she was about like fourteen
225
00:13:23.080 --> 00:13:26.519
years older than he was, so she was like an
226
00:13:26.559 --> 00:13:30.360
older sister to him, an older sister he never had,
227
00:13:30.399 --> 00:13:33.159
you know, someone he could totally trust. But after his
228
00:13:33.279 --> 00:13:39.679
father died, he learned that his mother was having a
229
00:13:39.799 --> 00:13:45.799
romantic relationship with Tanya's husband, So obviously major shock to Tanya,
230
00:13:46.159 --> 00:13:50.799
right what huh? Yes, and also to Aarin. When Aaron
231
00:13:50.879 --> 00:13:55.039
found out about his mom having the relationship whatever, it
232
00:13:55.120 --> 00:13:59.240
made him and Tanya grow closer in their relationship. And
233
00:13:59.279 --> 00:14:03.080
also Aaron really started to despise his mom, like really
234
00:14:03.120 --> 00:14:06.240
did not like her. So Tanya would end up divorcing
235
00:14:06.279 --> 00:14:09.279
her husband, and it wouldn't take long for Tanya's ex
236
00:14:09.519 --> 00:14:12.879
husband to like move in with Aaron's mom. So it
237
00:14:13.000 --> 00:14:15.399
was just like it was a lot, right, Like your
238
00:14:15.480 --> 00:14:19.519
dad just died, Now your mom's with your cousin's husband, Like,
239
00:14:20.480 --> 00:14:22.919
it was just a lot for him. So Aarin would
240
00:14:22.919 --> 00:14:25.919
spend a lot of his time at his cousin Tania's
241
00:14:25.960 --> 00:14:28.559
house after learning about the affair, like he didn't want
242
00:14:28.559 --> 00:14:31.480
to be home anymore, and her house was across the
243
00:14:31.519 --> 00:14:34.320
street from the fields where Aaron used to play youth football,
244
00:14:35.200 --> 00:14:37.480
so it was like it was just a second home
245
00:14:37.759 --> 00:14:41.320
to him. It was said, at Tawnia's house that's where
246
00:14:42.159 --> 00:14:45.600
he like first really got introduced to weed and to
247
00:14:45.720 --> 00:14:50.720
like a lot of questionable people. It was said, this
248
00:14:50.799 --> 00:14:53.639
is where at Tanya's house, it's where he acquired his
249
00:14:54.080 --> 00:14:58.919
street wise mentality. So Aaron's transition from high school to
250
00:14:59.000 --> 00:15:02.519
the University of Florida was in January of two thousand
251
00:15:02.519 --> 00:15:07.559
and seven. It was marked by both anticipation and controversy.
252
00:15:07.600 --> 00:15:11.440
Controversy he was pushed by the Florida Gators head coach
253
00:15:11.639 --> 00:15:15.039
Urban Meyer, who was like keen on recruiting young talent,
254
00:15:15.519 --> 00:15:19.320
and he wanted Aaron to graduate high school early to
255
00:15:19.480 --> 00:15:23.679
join the college football ranks. Now, Aaron again was really
256
00:15:23.720 --> 00:15:29.039
great athletically, but he wasn't like fully academically ready for college.
257
00:15:29.480 --> 00:15:32.440
It was said that he scored a four to twenty
258
00:15:32.600 --> 00:15:37.960
on his SAT, which was below the minimum requirement at Florida,
259
00:15:38.000 --> 00:15:42.240
where most of the freshmen scored six hundred or above.
260
00:15:42.639 --> 00:15:46.919
So technically he shouldn't have been allowed in. But it
261
00:15:46.960 --> 00:15:50.440
didn't matter though, because he was great on the field,
262
00:15:51.320 --> 00:15:54.639
and the coach was like, you know, just he wanted
263
00:15:54.720 --> 00:15:56.480
him right, and it's like, oh, he can focus on
264
00:15:56.519 --> 00:15:59.360
reading and writing in college, Like it's fine. Just in Gore,
265
00:16:00.120 --> 00:16:03.480
everything's fine. So they just really ignored his low scores.
266
00:16:03.679 --> 00:16:06.919
So at just seventeen, Aaron's encounter with adulthood and its
267
00:16:06.919 --> 00:16:11.240
freedoms was off to a rocky start. There was an
268
00:16:11.399 --> 00:16:15.440
early incident at a Gainesville bar called the Swamp, and
269
00:16:15.519 --> 00:16:19.559
here's what happened. So that night, Aaron goes out to
270
00:16:19.840 --> 00:16:24.279
this bar with another college football star and teammate, Tim Tebow.
271
00:16:24.799 --> 00:16:26.840
First of all, Aerin was just seventeen years old, so
272
00:16:26.879 --> 00:16:29.039
he shouldn't even have been at the bar drinking in
273
00:16:29.080 --> 00:16:33.799
the first place. But it said that like, college football
274
00:16:33.799 --> 00:16:37.480
players kind of get treated like rock stars there, so
275
00:16:38.279 --> 00:16:42.120
the whole age thing didn't matter. So they go out.
276
00:16:42.360 --> 00:16:45.120
Aaron has like a couple of drinks at the bar
277
00:16:45.480 --> 00:16:49.960
and then was given the bill because you got to pay, right. Well,
278
00:16:50.080 --> 00:16:54.840
Aaron alleglatedn't think such a big football star like himself
279
00:16:55.039 --> 00:16:59.759
should have to pay for the drinks. So an argument happened,
280
00:17:00.639 --> 00:17:02.639
and we don't really know what was said, but what
281
00:17:02.679 --> 00:17:05.960
we do know happened was that Aaron ended up punching
282
00:17:06.039 --> 00:17:09.599
the bar manager in the head, and the manager he
283
00:17:09.839 --> 00:17:13.359
suffered from a ruptured ear drum. Now Aaron could have
284
00:17:13.519 --> 00:17:18.599
easily been charged with a felony over this, but again,
285
00:17:18.720 --> 00:17:24.079
the college football stars they get treated differently, so Aaron
286
00:17:24.359 --> 00:17:26.839
called the coach. His coach in the middle of the night,
287
00:17:27.400 --> 00:17:33.440
gave him the details, and the Gator's unofficial defense lawyer intervened.
288
00:17:34.119 --> 00:17:37.519
Soon afterwards, the bar manager told the police that he
289
00:17:37.640 --> 00:17:40.839
was going to request that the charges be dropped because
290
00:17:40.839 --> 00:17:44.359
he had been contacted by legal staff and coaches with
291
00:17:44.759 --> 00:17:47.680
the university and that they were just going to work
292
00:17:47.759 --> 00:17:51.279
on some kind of agreement. I know, must be nice. Well,
293
00:17:51.400 --> 00:17:55.400
is it. No, there's no consequences with these boys. In
294
00:17:55.440 --> 00:17:59.480
the end, Aaron like never faced any charges, but this
295
00:17:59.680 --> 00:18:05.119
was like red flag number one. Aaron's teammates in Florida
296
00:18:05.279 --> 00:18:09.160
considered Aaron to be like a big hearted clown. They
297
00:18:09.160 --> 00:18:11.920
gave him the nickname Chico, and he like embraced it.
298
00:18:12.720 --> 00:18:15.200
His teammates would say that he always trying to be
299
00:18:15.240 --> 00:18:18.160
the life of the party and like people either loved
300
00:18:18.240 --> 00:18:21.960
him or they just couldn't stand the guy. During his
301
00:18:22.079 --> 00:18:24.799
time at Florida, he was recognized as one of the
302
00:18:24.839 --> 00:18:28.480
top players in the nation. Like he was a key
303
00:18:28.559 --> 00:18:33.720
player on the two thousand and eight BCS national championship team.
304
00:18:34.000 --> 00:18:35.960
That's like speaking a different language. I don't know what
305
00:18:35.960 --> 00:18:40.160
that means, but like, yes, he was a very talented player.
306
00:18:40.519 --> 00:18:43.839
But even with his fun personality, Aaron was facing some
307
00:18:44.039 --> 00:18:49.160
serious issues. He wasn't doing great in his classes if
308
00:18:49.200 --> 00:18:53.440
he was even going, and he even got like mixed
309
00:18:53.480 --> 00:18:58.000
up in a scary situation involving a shooting in Gainesville
310
00:18:58.480 --> 00:19:02.440
that left two wounded. I try to find more information
311
00:19:02.480 --> 00:19:05.680
about this, because I was, like, what, he wasn't part
312
00:19:05.839 --> 00:19:09.759
of this shooting. It was more of him being at
313
00:19:09.759 --> 00:19:13.240
the wrong place at the wrong time. That's like all
314
00:19:13.240 --> 00:19:16.200
the information I could find. I think after the fact,
315
00:19:16.440 --> 00:19:19.960
people now think he probably was involved in some kind
316
00:19:20.000 --> 00:19:22.440
of way with whatever went down. Yeah, I don't even
317
00:19:22.440 --> 00:19:24.440
know if it was worth mentioning, but like I mentioned
318
00:19:24.480 --> 00:19:26.559
it so because I don't really know what I don't
319
00:19:26.599 --> 00:19:30.359
know what the situation was. So despite all these problems,
320
00:19:31.759 --> 00:19:34.799
Aaron was still an amazing football player. He ended up
321
00:19:34.839 --> 00:19:39.599
receiving the John Mackie Award as the nation's best college
322
00:19:39.880 --> 00:19:44.039
tight end for his junior season at Florida in two
323
00:19:44.079 --> 00:19:50.480
thousand and nine, which is pretty huge. I feel so dumb.
324
00:19:51.480 --> 00:19:54.200
This is not my world, but I guess I looked
325
00:19:54.200 --> 00:19:56.720
it up and the John Mackie Award is like presented
326
00:19:56.799 --> 00:20:00.960
annually to the most outstanding college tight and in the
327
00:20:01.079 --> 00:20:05.480
United States, so that's very impressive, right, So Erin he
328
00:20:05.519 --> 00:20:08.240
had his eyes set on joining the NFL, which you know,
329
00:20:08.799 --> 00:20:13.279
the real deal. But there were some more problems. Aaron
330
00:20:13.839 --> 00:20:18.039
was failing drug tests while he was at the University
331
00:20:18.039 --> 00:20:23.440
of Florida and scouts. I learned that football scouts they
332
00:20:23.480 --> 00:20:27.559
do some serious digging. They hire private investigators to look
333
00:20:27.599 --> 00:20:32.799
into everyone's backgrounds to know what they're investing in, which
334
00:20:32.880 --> 00:20:34.720
is good. But at the same time, how come they
335
00:20:34.759 --> 00:20:40.240
always overlook domestic abuse? I don't know. But so Scouts
336
00:20:40.279 --> 00:20:43.599
were looking into Aaron because he's amazing, right, but they
337
00:20:43.599 --> 00:20:45.799
didn't really like him, and they were describing him as
338
00:20:45.799 --> 00:20:48.960
like a social misfit who had like a serious weed habit.
339
00:20:49.200 --> 00:20:51.519
So on top of that, when they were looking into,
340
00:20:51.920 --> 00:20:54.680
you know, his past, they were concerns about his possible
341
00:20:54.720 --> 00:20:58.119
ties to like some kind of criminal behavior in his
342
00:20:58.119 --> 00:21:01.480
hometown of Bristol. He didn't tech have any charges on
343
00:21:01.519 --> 00:21:04.119
his record, but like there were some there was some
344
00:21:04.279 --> 00:21:07.720
question he just they weren't sure. So, like a lot
345
00:21:07.759 --> 00:21:11.160
of recruits didn't want to touch him. But things were
346
00:21:11.160 --> 00:21:13.759
going to be all right for him because in twenty ten,
347
00:21:13.880 --> 00:21:17.480
Aaron was drafted by the New England Patriots in the
348
00:21:17.519 --> 00:21:22.799
fourth round of the NFL Draft. Now this was major, right, huge?
349
00:21:22.920 --> 00:21:26.880
Could you imagine major? So this was like his chance
350
00:21:26.920 --> 00:21:29.119
to get things together, right, He's playing with the big
351
00:21:29.160 --> 00:21:33.599
boys now, and he showed up. During his rookie year,
352
00:21:33.799 --> 00:21:37.960
Aaron had scored six touchdowns on five hundred and sixty
353
00:21:38.079 --> 00:21:42.559
three receiving yards. Question Mark, I don't know what that
354
00:21:42.599 --> 00:21:49.759
means alongside quarterback Tom Brady. Maybe you know what that means. Okay,
355
00:21:49.839 --> 00:21:52.880
So he's doing great. And in his second season, he
356
00:21:52.880 --> 00:21:55.319
helped the Patriots, you know, get all the way up
357
00:21:55.359 --> 00:21:58.880
to the Super Bowl. They ended up losing to the
358
00:21:58.920 --> 00:22:02.559
New York Giants twenty one to seventeen. But I'm sure
359
00:22:02.640 --> 00:22:06.599
like this was quite the rush for him. I'm sure
360
00:22:06.680 --> 00:22:09.200
his dad, as as mean as he was, I'm sure
361
00:22:09.240 --> 00:22:15.200
his dad would have been very proud. We're not not
362
00:22:15.200 --> 00:22:17.359
not sure, but either way, so as his fame and
363
00:22:17.440 --> 00:22:21.440
workload we're growing. Aaron decided to hire like two friends
364
00:22:22.000 --> 00:22:25.200
to work as like his assistants. Now. One of them
365
00:22:25.319 --> 00:22:29.599
his name was Alexander Bradley, who technically was a drug
366
00:22:29.640 --> 00:22:34.359
dealer that Aaron met back in college. And I guess
367
00:22:34.359 --> 00:22:38.079
he was now working as his personal assistant, and it
368
00:22:38.160 --> 00:22:41.680
seems like mainly his weed supplier, and Alexander like his
369
00:22:41.759 --> 00:22:45.319
job wasn't I guess, just about getting drugs. He was
370
00:22:45.359 --> 00:22:48.400
also there to calm Aaron down whenever he would get
371
00:22:48.440 --> 00:22:52.920
angry or paranoid, just do things for Aaron. So at
372
00:22:52.960 --> 00:22:57.720
one point, Aaron had asked Alexander to buy him a
373
00:22:57.960 --> 00:23:02.880
three hundred and seventy five dollars silver revolver for him.
374
00:23:03.480 --> 00:23:07.200
I don't know, he just wanted some guns. And the
375
00:23:07.200 --> 00:23:10.880
Patriots the team, they kind of like turned a blind
376
00:23:10.960 --> 00:23:14.359
eye to Aaron's shenanigans, Like they knew he was up
377
00:23:14.440 --> 00:23:18.200
to no good, and they knew that he was smoking
378
00:23:18.240 --> 00:23:21.720
weed allegedly, but again, he was such a good player
379
00:23:21.839 --> 00:23:24.599
and they like he was such an asset to the team,
380
00:23:24.720 --> 00:23:28.880
so they were just kind of like, you know, just
381
00:23:28.960 --> 00:23:31.640
looking the other way. And because Aaron did so well
382
00:23:31.720 --> 00:23:36.079
on his like rookie year whatever, the Patriots the team,
383
00:23:36.079 --> 00:23:39.440
they went ahead and signed Aarin to a five year,
384
00:23:40.079 --> 00:23:45.480
forty million dollar contract extension with the Patriots, and this
385
00:23:45.559 --> 00:23:49.200
happened in August of twenty twelve. Now at this time,
386
00:23:49.359 --> 00:23:53.319
Aaron is twenty three years old. I don't know about you,
387
00:23:53.640 --> 00:23:56.759
but I could not imagine being twenty three years old
388
00:23:56.799 --> 00:24:00.119
with a forty million dollar contract. I'm sure if you
389
00:24:00.160 --> 00:24:04.519
don't have the right people around, it could easily destroy you, right,
390
00:24:05.440 --> 00:24:09.599
be stupid with the money, buying stupid crap, just being stupid.
391
00:24:09.960 --> 00:24:13.799
It was said that Aaron often carried a gun around,
392
00:24:14.200 --> 00:24:16.640
and some people that were around him thought that he
393
00:24:16.759 --> 00:24:20.240
was like a respectful, nice guy, especially for being a
394
00:24:20.240 --> 00:24:24.440
celebrity athlete, but they would say like the friends that
395
00:24:24.480 --> 00:24:28.720
he was hanging around were just a bad influence. One
396
00:24:28.759 --> 00:24:31.200
friend who hung around like his circle said that Aaron
397
00:24:31.400 --> 00:24:34.000
was very gullible and he was willing to just do
398
00:24:34.160 --> 00:24:38.680
whatever to prove that he was badass or something. It
399
00:24:38.759 --> 00:24:40.960
was like he didn't realize that he was getting himself
400
00:24:40.960 --> 00:24:43.759
into a lot of trouble by hanging out with the
401
00:24:43.759 --> 00:24:47.720
wrong people. And a lot of people said that he
402
00:24:47.920 --> 00:24:52.359
was just a follower. So the Patriots teammates described Erin
403
00:24:52.480 --> 00:24:57.359
as an attention seeker who at times seemed unhinged. They
404
00:24:57.359 --> 00:24:58.880
would go on to say that he would have like
405
00:24:58.920 --> 00:25:01.759
these major moods where he would be like the most
406
00:25:01.839 --> 00:25:07.039
hyper masculine, aggressive individual in the room and was ready
407
00:25:07.079 --> 00:25:10.079
to fight anybody, you know, during like fits of rage.
408
00:25:10.519 --> 00:25:12.839
And then there would be other times where he would
409
00:25:12.839 --> 00:25:15.440
be like the most sensitive person in the room and
410
00:25:15.480 --> 00:25:17.680
he would be talking about like cuddling with his mom,
411
00:25:18.039 --> 00:25:20.240
or he would go up to other players asking like
412
00:25:20.720 --> 00:25:23.240
if he was good enough to play. He just seemed
413
00:25:23.279 --> 00:25:26.799
deeply insecure. I guess there would be beef at times
414
00:25:26.839 --> 00:25:31.319
with their legendary team leader, Tom Brady, who would become
415
00:25:32.039 --> 00:25:36.200
enraged by Aaron's erratic behavior. It's like one minute Aaron
416
00:25:36.240 --> 00:25:40.480
would be like childlike laughing and disruptive, and then the
417
00:25:40.519 --> 00:25:43.680
next he would kind of storm off in a fit
418
00:25:43.720 --> 00:25:47.319
of rage. And then there was Aaron's lover, Shanna Jenkins.
419
00:25:47.559 --> 00:25:49.640
The two of them they met when they were they
420
00:25:49.640 --> 00:25:52.200
were kids growing up in the same neighborhood and Bristol.
421
00:25:52.279 --> 00:25:55.759
They attended the same elementary and high school, which meant
422
00:25:55.839 --> 00:25:58.000
that they knew each other just from a very young age.
423
00:25:58.160 --> 00:26:01.599
Their families were familiar with each other, and they you know,
424
00:26:01.680 --> 00:26:05.880
were childhood friends for like many years. As they grew older,
425
00:26:06.039 --> 00:26:10.759
their friendship eventually turned into a romantic relationship in high school.
426
00:26:10.960 --> 00:26:13.039
They broke up for a little bit when Aaron went
427
00:26:13.079 --> 00:26:15.960
to the University of Florida, but they still like stayed
428
00:26:15.960 --> 00:26:18.599
in touch, and then when he went into the NFL,
429
00:26:19.240 --> 00:26:22.000
I guess that's when they decided to pick back up
430
00:26:22.039 --> 00:26:26.440
their relationship. Shiana eventually moved in with Aarin after he
431
00:26:26.519 --> 00:26:29.680
started playing for the New England Patriots, and then the
432
00:26:29.759 --> 00:26:34.680
couple ended up getting engaged in twenty twelve. On November sixth,
433
00:26:34.759 --> 00:26:39.079
twenty twelve, Shyanna gave birth to their daughter. You would
434
00:26:39.079 --> 00:26:41.599
hope this would make him grow up a little bit,
435
00:26:42.480 --> 00:26:48.000
you know, grow up, you have a family now, but nay, nay,
436
00:26:48.160 --> 00:26:51.960
of course not. In July of twenty twelve, Aaron was
437
00:26:52.160 --> 00:26:56.599
at the Cure Lounge one evening. He's partying and he
438
00:26:56.680 --> 00:26:59.640
was hanging out with his friend Alexander. It was said
439
00:26:59.680 --> 00:27:02.839
at a on twelve thirty am. Inside of the club,
440
00:27:03.720 --> 00:27:10.119
a guy named Daniel Deauro bumped into Aaron, causing him
441
00:27:10.119 --> 00:27:13.960
to like spill his drink on himself. That was it, okay,
442
00:27:14.000 --> 00:27:17.960
and I guess that was enough to set Aarin off.
443
00:27:18.279 --> 00:27:21.119
Alexander said that Aaron was getting all riled up and
444
00:27:21.200 --> 00:27:23.559
that it was best if they just left the club.
445
00:27:23.599 --> 00:27:25.519
So the two of them leave the club and they're
446
00:27:25.519 --> 00:27:29.720
like outside and Aaron is fuming like he can't freaking
447
00:27:29.759 --> 00:27:33.279
let it go. Then Aaron noticed that that guy Daniel
448
00:27:33.279 --> 00:27:36.599
who ran into him and his friend Sephiro were leaving
449
00:27:36.799 --> 00:27:40.200
the club, So I guess Aaron like turns to Alexander
450
00:27:40.240 --> 00:27:43.400
and he tells him like, let's let's go. Let's go,
451
00:27:43.480 --> 00:27:46.640
let's like follow them. So it's around two thirty am.
452
00:27:46.960 --> 00:27:51.079
Aaron and his friend Alexander, they hop into their car,
453
00:27:51.319 --> 00:27:54.960
it's a silver suv, and they hit the road and
454
00:27:55.000 --> 00:27:58.960
they catch up to the car that Daniel and Sephiro
455
00:27:59.599 --> 00:28:03.119
were in and they like pull up next to them,
456
00:28:03.599 --> 00:28:07.599
so I got a red light. Witnesses later testified that
457
00:28:07.799 --> 00:28:11.559
someone in Aaron's car had shouted at the other men,
458
00:28:12.279 --> 00:28:16.319
saying like what's up now, just like shouting at them
459
00:28:16.480 --> 00:28:21.240
and then screaming like some racist stuff, before firing five
460
00:28:21.400 --> 00:28:27.359
shots into the vehicle, which ended up killing both of
461
00:28:27.400 --> 00:28:30.880
the men. So the suv with Aaron and his friend,
462
00:28:30.880 --> 00:28:33.519
they you know, they take off and they end up
463
00:28:33.640 --> 00:28:39.759
taking the suv to Aaron's cousin's garage, Tanya to keep
464
00:28:39.799 --> 00:28:44.839
it hidden for a while because they just freaking killed someone.
465
00:28:44.960 --> 00:28:47.079
So they're like, we need to hide the car. So
466
00:28:47.160 --> 00:28:50.200
naturally police come out to the scene and investigate figure
467
00:28:50.200 --> 00:28:53.680
out what the furk happened, And they were looking into
468
00:28:53.680 --> 00:28:56.839
surveillance footage from the club that night to determine like
469
00:28:57.000 --> 00:29:01.400
who killed these men, right, and on the footage they
470
00:29:01.440 --> 00:29:05.519
actually saw Aaron, Aaron Hernandez on the footage, and at first,
471
00:29:05.559 --> 00:29:07.640
like the police even said, they just thought like, oh,
472
00:29:07.680 --> 00:29:10.799
what a coincidence, you know, like he's a big football
473
00:29:10.799 --> 00:29:12.920
star and he was at the club. That's funny, Like
474
00:29:12.960 --> 00:29:14.960
they didn't think he was a part of it. The
475
00:29:15.039 --> 00:29:17.720
only thing they had to go off of the police
476
00:29:18.279 --> 00:29:21.680
was like finding that SUV that was involved in the attack,
477
00:29:22.240 --> 00:29:26.400
but they were having no luck locating the vehicle. So
478
00:29:26.839 --> 00:29:29.160
the police they said that they had like they had
479
00:29:29.160 --> 00:29:32.640
no leads. They had no leads because both Daniel and
480
00:29:32.720 --> 00:29:37.799
Saphiro had no criminal history, They had no enemies, They
481
00:29:37.880 --> 00:29:41.640
worked cleaning buildings at night and were just like good,
482
00:29:42.200 --> 00:29:47.759
honest people and the killing made no sense. Now. The
483
00:29:47.759 --> 00:29:50.279
police again, they were not looking into Aaron at this
484
00:29:50.359 --> 00:29:54.839
time because technically Aaron did not have a criminal record himself, Like, yes,
485
00:29:55.039 --> 00:29:59.039
he had those involvements earlier, but there was never any
486
00:29:59.079 --> 00:30:01.640
like police reports made, so there was nothing on his
487
00:30:01.720 --> 00:30:03.480
record and again, the police are like he's a big
488
00:30:03.519 --> 00:30:05.079
football star, Like what would he have to do with
489
00:30:05.119 --> 00:30:08.480
his crime? You know, the case kind of goes cold
490
00:30:08.559 --> 00:30:11.400
because they don't even know who they're looking for. It
491
00:30:11.480 --> 00:30:13.680
was really sad for the family, Like these these men
492
00:30:13.720 --> 00:30:16.319
that got killed, Oh, they just seemed like they're It
493
00:30:16.400 --> 00:30:19.279
was just like so so sad, like they just seemed
494
00:30:19.319 --> 00:30:22.799
like really good people and they got killed for literally
495
00:30:22.839 --> 00:30:26.880
no freaking reason. And the families, you know, they were
496
00:30:27.000 --> 00:30:31.359
preparing to bury Daniel and Saphiro side by side, like
497
00:30:31.559 --> 00:30:37.559
in a Boston cemetery, and meanwhile Aaron was off partying
498
00:30:38.440 --> 00:30:43.000
like nothing happened. He was spotted within like days of
499
00:30:43.039 --> 00:30:47.039
the murders riding jet skis with a bunch of his
500
00:30:47.119 --> 00:30:52.319
like Bristol friends in a fancy harbor town of Newport,
501
00:30:52.559 --> 00:30:55.519
Rhode Island. He literally just killed two people. You know,
502
00:30:55.599 --> 00:30:58.599
it's like pretty world. So at this point, like Aaron
503
00:30:58.799 --> 00:31:02.200
is getting away with his crimes over and over and again,
504
00:31:02.279 --> 00:31:05.680
and I think it was just like proving to himself
505
00:31:05.720 --> 00:31:08.920
that he was untouchable. It seemed like he could get
506
00:31:08.920 --> 00:31:12.680
away with anything. At this point. Aaron would literally go
507
00:31:12.720 --> 00:31:17.759
on to play a full season of football after killing
508
00:31:18.039 --> 00:31:23.839
two people, like nothing happened and he did a really
509
00:31:23.839 --> 00:31:28.519
great job, like it's just wild. So then in February
510
00:31:28.839 --> 00:31:34.079
of twenty thirteen, Aaron and his friend Alexander, they flew
511
00:31:34.119 --> 00:31:37.599
down to Miami, Florida, and they were there because they
512
00:31:37.640 --> 00:31:40.400
wanted to party with one of Aaron's old teammates from
513
00:31:40.480 --> 00:31:44.200
the Florida Gators. His name was Deonte Thompson. So they
514
00:31:44.240 --> 00:31:47.559
go down there and they started like their party in
515
00:31:47.599 --> 00:31:52.079
Deonta's hometown, bell Blade, and then they headed to a
516
00:31:52.119 --> 00:31:56.880
Miami strip club called Tutsies Sis, and I guess like
517
00:31:56.960 --> 00:31:59.440
the first night that they were there, Aaron had spent
518
00:31:59.559 --> 00:32:03.079
like ten thousand dollars that first night. So while they
519
00:32:03.079 --> 00:32:06.240
were there partying in the VIP section, it was said
520
00:32:06.240 --> 00:32:10.000
that Aaron started to act all paranoid because he thought
521
00:32:10.039 --> 00:32:13.079
that the two older men that were sitting by them,
522
00:32:13.400 --> 00:32:16.880
he sworen that they were cops from Boston. Now there
523
00:32:16.920 --> 00:32:20.039
was no proof to even believe that these guys were cops,
524
00:32:20.119 --> 00:32:23.559
but Aaron was telling his friend Alexander, like, those are
525
00:32:23.599 --> 00:32:29.680
fucking cops, like and being just paranoid, truly paranoid. And
526
00:32:29.720 --> 00:32:33.319
then on the second night at Tootsi's, because they go again,
527
00:32:34.519 --> 00:32:39.359
things got tense between Aaron and Alexander. It was said
528
00:32:39.359 --> 00:32:41.440
that they got into a fight over the bar bill
529
00:32:42.200 --> 00:32:44.960
and then Alexander like forgot his phone in the club,
530
00:32:45.079 --> 00:32:48.880
and this seemed to just really annoy Aaron, Like he
531
00:32:49.359 --> 00:32:52.759
was raging. So he's in a bad mood and he
532
00:32:52.799 --> 00:32:55.440
tells everyone, like, let's let's go. We're leaving, right, So
533
00:32:55.640 --> 00:32:58.000
the whole group they all leave. They get into the
534
00:32:58.039 --> 00:33:02.839
car and they're they drove like north on Interstate ninety five.
535
00:33:03.319 --> 00:33:07.000
Alexander was in the backseat and he fell asleep. Alexander
536
00:33:07.160 --> 00:33:11.359
later testified that he woke up to Aaron holding a
537
00:33:11.440 --> 00:33:16.440
gun pointed right between his eyebrows. He has no idea,
538
00:33:16.559 --> 00:33:19.359
like what is going on, and that's the last thing
539
00:33:19.400 --> 00:33:23.480
he remembers. Now. The next morning, as the sun came up,
540
00:33:24.039 --> 00:33:29.680
police found Alexander lying in a parking lot, bleeding from
541
00:33:29.759 --> 00:33:34.000
a bullet wound between his eyes. Aaron nowhere to be found.
542
00:33:34.319 --> 00:33:36.519
At this point, he had already flown out of Florida,
543
00:33:36.559 --> 00:33:41.400
thinking like he was done with Alexander for good. Now. Surprise, surprise, Luckily,
544
00:33:41.440 --> 00:33:46.079
like Alexander survived. Now he ended up losing his right
545
00:33:46.200 --> 00:33:51.759
eye and needed like several surgeries. So despite everything, Alexander
546
00:33:52.559 --> 00:33:57.720
he refused to cooperate with the police, so they the
547
00:33:57.720 --> 00:34:00.920
police couldn't like prove or even link Aaron to the crime.
548
00:34:01.279 --> 00:34:05.240
Alexander he would later testify in court that he didn't
549
00:34:05.279 --> 00:34:08.440
want to involve the police and he wanted to like
550
00:34:08.519 --> 00:34:13.760
handle it on his own, and he wanted revenge. In
551
00:34:13.800 --> 00:34:17.000
my personal opinion, I think he wanted to get money
552
00:34:17.000 --> 00:34:19.639
from Aaron. And you'll see, so if he involved the police,
553
00:34:19.639 --> 00:34:22.440
he wouldn't be able to blackmail him, you know, Alexander,
554
00:34:22.519 --> 00:34:25.199
he ends up living now. Aaron doesn't know this, And
555
00:34:25.360 --> 00:34:28.719
the next day Alexander he ends up calling up Aaron
556
00:34:29.480 --> 00:34:33.519
and he's like, guess who, and Aaron like played dumb,
557
00:34:33.559 --> 00:34:35.159
acting like he didn't know who he was. He's like,
558
00:34:35.159 --> 00:34:37.760
well is this Who's this? I don't know. But once
559
00:34:38.119 --> 00:34:43.039
the conversation ended, text messages from Alexander just started rolling in.
560
00:34:43.039 --> 00:34:45.079
In one of the texts, he said like, you left
561
00:34:45.119 --> 00:34:48.480
me with one eye and a lot of head trauma.
562
00:34:48.719 --> 00:34:51.679
You ohe for what you did. And then Aaron wrote
563
00:34:51.679 --> 00:34:54.239
back like, if you ever got me in trouble or
564
00:34:54.280 --> 00:34:57.159
ruined my life for something I didn't do, you will pay.
565
00:34:57.679 --> 00:35:00.960
Just going back and forth, back and forth, and Alexander
566
00:35:01.039 --> 00:35:04.039
like he wasn't scared because he knew the truth right,
567
00:35:04.400 --> 00:35:06.119
and he was telling Aaron like, you don't scare me.
568
00:35:06.639 --> 00:35:12.039
You know, I have tons of guns and I'm gonna
569
00:35:12.079 --> 00:35:16.519
do something about it. Essentially, Brian Murphy, who was Aaron's agent,
570
00:35:16.679 --> 00:35:20.320
found out about the shooting. Aaron had told his agent
571
00:35:20.440 --> 00:35:23.199
that this Alexander guy was like threatening to either get
572
00:35:23.239 --> 00:35:26.760
money from him or kill him, So Brian Murphy he
573
00:35:26.800 --> 00:35:29.920
reached out to Alexander's lawyer to try and like settle
574
00:35:29.960 --> 00:35:32.639
things quietly, but like that didn't work. There were no
575
00:35:32.840 --> 00:35:38.119
charges wherever filed against him for the shooting, and nobody
576
00:35:38.239 --> 00:35:43.960
like informed the Patriots' coach about the situation, so it
577
00:35:44.159 --> 00:35:47.000
just kind of was going under the radar. And again,
578
00:35:47.119 --> 00:35:50.760
mind you, Aaron is still playing football, He's doing really
579
00:35:50.840 --> 00:35:54.840
great and buying a big old mansion. Everything is just
580
00:35:54.880 --> 00:35:58.599
like fine and dandy. But you know, things are things
581
00:35:58.679 --> 00:36:01.559
are growing in Aaron's mind, and like his paranoia was
582
00:36:01.679 --> 00:36:05.639
hitting a new level. So he ended up hiring another
583
00:36:05.719 --> 00:36:09.400
friend from his hometown. His name was Ernest, he went
584
00:36:09.440 --> 00:36:12.440
by Bo Wallace is his last name, and he hired
585
00:36:12.480 --> 00:36:14.920
this guy to be like his bodyguard around the clock,
586
00:36:15.360 --> 00:36:18.960
and just like with like Aaron's other friends, Ernest also
587
00:36:19.079 --> 00:36:23.440
had a criminal record, but Aaron, you know, he trusted
588
00:36:23.480 --> 00:36:27.159
him to have his back. Aaron's really paranoid, so he
589
00:36:27.440 --> 00:36:32.360
ends up. Like in early April, Aaron had sent fifteen
590
00:36:32.400 --> 00:36:36.519
thousand dollars to a friend. His name was Oscar Hernandez,
591
00:36:36.639 --> 00:36:40.559
no relation, and he was using this money to buy
592
00:36:40.679 --> 00:36:46.079
a used Toyota with two twenty two caliber handguns and
593
00:36:46.199 --> 00:36:49.960
two rifles inside. And I guess in this car they
594
00:36:50.000 --> 00:36:53.360
like made specific compartments where the guns would be hiding.
595
00:36:53.719 --> 00:36:56.679
Aaron would occasionally check in with this guy, Oscar, asking
596
00:36:56.719 --> 00:37:00.119
if like everything was going smoothly, and Oscar was like, hell, yeah,
597
00:37:00.159 --> 00:37:03.400
you know, I almost got everything. But Aaron, he didn't
598
00:37:03.400 --> 00:37:06.920
stop there. He also spent over one hundred and ten
599
00:37:07.039 --> 00:37:12.800
thousand dollars on an armored twenty thirteen Chevrolet Suburban that
600
00:37:12.920 --> 00:37:16.280
had been outfitted as an armored car. It was like
601
00:37:16.320 --> 00:37:19.800
a mini war wagon for him. It was to feel safer,
602
00:37:20.639 --> 00:37:22.880
you know. He was paranoid that someone was going to
603
00:37:22.920 --> 00:37:27.679
come after him for what he had done. Meanwhile, Alexander,
604
00:37:28.480 --> 00:37:32.559
he's still around, like he's texting Aaron pushing Aaron for money.
605
00:37:33.039 --> 00:37:37.400
He's texting Aaron like, you can't go through life consequence
606
00:37:37.480 --> 00:37:41.960
free when you do certain shit, you know, and a
607
00:37:42.000 --> 00:37:45.199
confrontation seemed to be getting closer and closer. Then on
608
00:37:45.320 --> 00:37:50.079
June third, Alexander texted Aaron saying that he would be
609
00:37:50.239 --> 00:37:55.719
near the Patriots Stadium waiting there like after practice, armed
610
00:37:55.719 --> 00:37:59.440
with a semi automatic handgun, and he would be wearing
611
00:37:59.440 --> 00:38:02.920
a bullet pri vest. That day, the two of them
612
00:38:02.960 --> 00:38:06.559
exchanged like a staggering one hundred and twenty five text messages,
613
00:38:06.639 --> 00:38:10.800
just full of insults, accusations, threats. It was all talk
614
00:38:11.079 --> 00:38:15.280
because like nothing ended up happening, but Alexander had warned
615
00:38:15.320 --> 00:38:17.599
Aarin that he was going to go public with a
616
00:38:17.679 --> 00:38:21.239
lawsuit if Aarin did not pay up. The next day,
617
00:38:21.320 --> 00:38:24.440
after all of the threatening text messages, Alexander had like
618
00:38:24.480 --> 00:38:29.039
texted Aaron demanding five million dollars from him. It's like
619
00:38:29.079 --> 00:38:31.320
five million dollars in this will go away, you know.
620
00:38:31.599 --> 00:38:34.760
Aaron came back and offered him one point five million,
621
00:38:35.320 --> 00:38:38.559
and then Alexander came back saying I'll accept two point
622
00:38:38.559 --> 00:38:41.599
five million. It was just kind of messy and sloppy
623
00:38:41.639 --> 00:38:43.880
and like they just kept going back and forth because
624
00:38:43.920 --> 00:38:47.320
then Alexander filed a federal suit against Aaron, and then
625
00:38:47.320 --> 00:38:50.760
he withdrew it like four days later before the news
626
00:38:50.800 --> 00:38:53.199
media caught wind of it. So I don't really know
627
00:38:53.239 --> 00:38:56.559
what happened there, you know, because then Aaron's agent had
628
00:38:56.599 --> 00:39:01.039
texted Aaron saying, like they withdrew through the lawsuits so
629
00:39:01.119 --> 00:39:04.519
we can engage in settlement talks without like them, the
630
00:39:04.559 --> 00:39:07.760
media getting involved, and that this was a huge win
631
00:39:07.920 --> 00:39:12.800
for us. So that's cool, I guess. But despite the win,
632
00:39:13.400 --> 00:39:16.400
the situation was just one part of like the trouble
633
00:39:16.639 --> 00:39:20.719
that was brewing in Aaron's life, and it wouldn't be
634
00:39:20.840 --> 00:39:26.400
long before things got even worse. So that brings us
635
00:39:26.440 --> 00:39:30.159
to Odin Lloyd Now Odin. He was born in November
636
00:39:30.199 --> 00:39:32.840
of nineteen eighty five, and it was said that he
637
00:39:32.920 --> 00:39:36.840
grew up in a tough neighborhood, you know, and Odin
638
00:39:36.920 --> 00:39:40.079
saw football as like his way out and a chance
639
00:39:40.239 --> 00:39:42.639
at a better life for himself. By the time he
640
00:39:42.719 --> 00:39:45.880
was twenty seven, Odin was playing semi pro football for
641
00:39:46.000 --> 00:39:50.679
the Boston Bandits and had become good friends with Aaron. Now.
642
00:39:50.760 --> 00:39:56.159
They became close partly because Odin was dating Shaneia Jenkins,
643
00:39:56.320 --> 00:40:01.360
who happened to be the sister of Aaron's fiance, Shanna Jenkins.
644
00:40:01.760 --> 00:40:04.119
That's how they like got to know each other. But
645
00:40:04.119 --> 00:40:06.880
you know, as they're spending time together Aaron and Odin,
646
00:40:06.920 --> 00:40:08.559
they found out that they had a long common like
647
00:40:08.599 --> 00:40:13.840
they both obviously enjoyed playing football, they both enjoyed smoking weed,
648
00:40:13.960 --> 00:40:17.159
playing video games, and like going out to nightclubs, so
649
00:40:17.199 --> 00:40:19.320
they started hanging out like a lot. On the night
650
00:40:19.480 --> 00:40:24.480
of June fifteenth, twenty thirteen, Odin bought Aaron a drink
651
00:40:24.559 --> 00:40:28.320
at a Boston club called Rumor, and it seemed like
652
00:40:28.679 --> 00:40:33.000
an ordinary night, but according to prosecutors, something that Odin
653
00:40:33.280 --> 00:40:38.519
said or did that evening upset Aaron. What was said
654
00:40:38.800 --> 00:40:42.239
has never been clearly proven, and it remains like one
655
00:40:42.320 --> 00:40:46.039
of the biggest mysteries of this case. Nobody knows exactly
656
00:40:46.880 --> 00:40:53.360
what happened. But after this, Odin was on Aaron's shit
657
00:40:53.440 --> 00:40:57.079
list pretty much. And then two days later, on June seventeenth,
658
00:40:57.159 --> 00:41:02.280
Aaron had been drinking with friends at his cousin Tonia's house.
659
00:41:02.599 --> 00:41:04.960
So they're all hanging out at Tonya's house and they
660
00:41:05.039 --> 00:41:09.079
texted Odin asking him to hang out around two thirty
661
00:41:09.119 --> 00:41:13.400
three am, Aaron and his friends Ernest Wallace and this
662
00:41:13.519 --> 00:41:18.960
guy Carlos Ortiz picked up Odin from his house. I know,
663
00:41:19.039 --> 00:41:21.719
I was like two thirty three am, like who is up?
664
00:41:23.119 --> 00:41:26.239
They were. At that moment, Odin started to feel like
665
00:41:26.320 --> 00:41:29.679
something was off, like he sat in the car right
666
00:41:29.760 --> 00:41:31.960
and when he's in the car, Odin is texting his
667
00:41:32.039 --> 00:41:34.920
sister and it's like three in the morning. And he
668
00:41:35.000 --> 00:41:37.400
texted his sister saying like did you see who I'm with?
669
00:41:38.119 --> 00:41:39.880
And I guess she didn't answer right away, like a
670
00:41:39.880 --> 00:41:43.000
few minutes had passed, and then he texted her again
671
00:41:43.119 --> 00:41:47.079
saying like hello, and then his sister responded saying like
672
00:41:47.119 --> 00:41:53.960
who and Odin replied saying NFL, referring to Aaron Hernandez.
673
00:41:54.119 --> 00:41:57.119
Odin's last message was sent at three to twenty three
674
00:41:57.159 --> 00:42:01.239
am to his sister saying just so you know. So
675
00:42:01.280 --> 00:42:05.239
many speculate that he felt like something was up and
676
00:42:05.280 --> 00:42:07.599
he was letting his sister know like who he was with?
677
00:42:08.000 --> 00:42:13.280
Now Literally everything that happened in between big mystery. What
678
00:42:13.320 --> 00:42:16.599
we do know was that Odin was shot six times
679
00:42:16.639 --> 00:42:20.559
and left to die in an industrial park near Aaron's home,
680
00:42:21.039 --> 00:42:25.800
which was in North Attleboro, Massachusetts. The next morning, there
681
00:42:25.880 --> 00:42:29.719
was a jogger out minding his own freaking business, and
682
00:42:29.960 --> 00:42:33.079
that's when he came across Odin's body. And you know,
683
00:42:33.159 --> 00:42:35.000
it was confirmed that he had been killed just a
684
00:42:35.039 --> 00:42:39.599
short distance from Aaron's mansion. So the police quickly come
685
00:42:39.599 --> 00:42:43.320
out and start investigating. And I was watching like interviews
686
00:42:44.239 --> 00:42:46.360
from what the police who were at the scene, and
687
00:42:46.400 --> 00:42:49.840
they were like, this was a sloppy job. The killer
688
00:42:49.880 --> 00:42:54.440
did a very sloppy job because nearby there was a
689
00:42:54.480 --> 00:42:58.960
white towel found, there were shoe prints and tire prints
690
00:42:59.000 --> 00:43:02.280
in the mud was like a muddy area. There was
691
00:43:02.320 --> 00:43:07.800
a half smoked blunt lying nearby. And the only tie
692
00:43:07.920 --> 00:43:12.880
Odin had to this neighborhood was Aaron Hernandez. So police
693
00:43:12.960 --> 00:43:15.480
searched phone records and saw that Aaron's phone was hitting
694
00:43:15.519 --> 00:43:19.199
cell towers that lined up with the crime. They also
695
00:43:19.480 --> 00:43:22.960
matched Aaron's shoe prints to those found in the mud.
696
00:43:23.920 --> 00:43:28.400
They matched the car tire marks to the ones in
697
00:43:28.480 --> 00:43:33.599
the mud with Aaron. They got surveillance footage from Aaron's
698
00:43:33.599 --> 00:43:37.480
house the night of the murder, and on the footage
699
00:43:37.800 --> 00:43:42.400
there was like after the murder, they saw Aaron holding
700
00:43:42.719 --> 00:43:46.320
what looked like a gun. Again, there were those text
701
00:43:46.360 --> 00:43:50.000
messages from Odin to his sister saying like who he
702
00:43:50.159 --> 00:43:55.320
was with? Everything was pointing to Aaron. The police ended
703
00:43:55.400 --> 00:44:00.280
up searching Aaron's mansion June eighteenth, twenty thirteen, and then
704
00:44:00.360 --> 00:44:05.760
again June twenty second, twenty thirteen. Listen, the media got
705
00:44:05.840 --> 00:44:09.840
a hold of this story right, and it was wild.
706
00:44:09.960 --> 00:44:12.320
It was all over the place, you couldn't avoid it.
707
00:44:12.440 --> 00:44:16.880
Aaron was being followed everywhere he went, being questioned. There
708
00:44:16.960 --> 00:44:19.760
was this one shot of there was like a helicopter
709
00:44:19.880 --> 00:44:23.159
following Aaron and he's driving on the freeway on his
710
00:44:23.199 --> 00:44:27.599
way to practice. He's either on his way to practice
711
00:44:27.679 --> 00:44:30.159
or he was meeting up with his coach or whatever.
712
00:44:30.360 --> 00:44:32.639
But it was on like every news media outlet, and
713
00:44:32.800 --> 00:44:35.840
of course all of them were comparing it to Oj
714
00:44:36.159 --> 00:44:38.800
and his bronco like. It was definitely giving that same,
715
00:44:39.280 --> 00:44:43.800
that same feeling. So on June twenty six, twenty thirteen,
716
00:44:44.159 --> 00:44:48.599
Aaron Hernandez was arrested at his home and charged with
717
00:44:48.920 --> 00:44:55.480
first degree murder of Odin Lloyd, along with five firearm violations.
718
00:44:55.880 --> 00:44:59.960
There was a Globe sportswriter who was his name's Greg Bdard.
719
00:45:00.079 --> 00:45:02.239
He was outside of like Aaron's house that morning. He
720
00:45:02.320 --> 00:45:04.599
remembered the scene. He said that there must have been
721
00:45:04.639 --> 00:45:07.280
like six or seven cop cars that drove in, and
722
00:45:07.320 --> 00:45:10.199
then not long after that, Aaron came out in cuffs
723
00:45:10.280 --> 00:45:12.360
wearing a white T shirt. And then he said, like
724
00:45:12.440 --> 00:45:14.559
at that moment he realized this is not going to
725
00:45:14.679 --> 00:45:18.199
end well for Aaron Hernandez. And maybe you remember. I
726
00:45:18.199 --> 00:45:20.400
don't know why, but like that is burdened to my
727
00:45:20.480 --> 00:45:23.400
memory of Aaron coming out with the white T shirt on.
728
00:45:23.800 --> 00:45:26.559
Do you remember that scene, and like he didn't have
729
00:45:26.639 --> 00:45:29.320
his arms in the holes. It was just over. I
730
00:45:29.360 --> 00:45:32.719
don't know, I just remember it so well. Thank you
731
00:45:32.760 --> 00:45:36.800
so much. Less than two hours after his arrest, the
732
00:45:36.840 --> 00:45:41.239
Patriots obviously they released him from the team. Everyone wanted
733
00:45:41.239 --> 00:45:45.719
a statement from them, so like the Patriots owner Robert
734
00:45:45.760 --> 00:45:49.440
Kraft told the media that he felt he and the
735
00:45:49.519 --> 00:45:53.559
organization had been duped by Aaron and then coach Belichick.
736
00:45:53.719 --> 00:45:56.599
He was a little bit more reserved in his response.
737
00:45:56.639 --> 00:45:58.519
He kind of kept things vague. He gave like a
738
00:45:58.559 --> 00:46:03.159
seven minute statement, barely mentioning Aaron's name. One of the
739
00:46:03.159 --> 00:46:05.880
things he said was that overall he was proud of
740
00:46:05.920 --> 00:46:09.360
the hundreds of players that had come through the program,
741
00:46:10.079 --> 00:46:14.519
but that personally in that moment, he was disappointed and hurt,
742
00:46:14.960 --> 00:46:19.239
but like never really mentioned Aaron's name. The investigation quickly
743
00:46:19.280 --> 00:46:23.000
spread to Aaron's friends and family, and on August first,
744
00:46:23.199 --> 00:46:28.519
twenty thirteen, Aaron's cousin, remember Tanya, She was sent to
745
00:46:28.599 --> 00:46:32.400
jail because she refused to testify before the grand jury
746
00:46:32.480 --> 00:46:38.480
about what she knew. Plus, the police had found the
747
00:46:39.360 --> 00:46:45.599
SUV that they were hiding from that first shooting in
748
00:46:45.639 --> 00:46:49.199
her garage and she didn't want to say anything. She
749
00:46:49.280 --> 00:46:53.239
kept her mouth shut. She was loyal to Aaron, so
750
00:46:53.280 --> 00:46:56.679
she got in trouble, and then Aaron's legal troubles just
751
00:46:56.719 --> 00:47:01.760
like kept piling up. So Ernest led not guilty to
752
00:47:02.000 --> 00:47:06.719
being an accessory after the murder on September nineteenth, twenty thirteen,
753
00:47:07.159 --> 00:47:11.360
and then Aaron himself pled not guilty to Odin's murder
754
00:47:11.440 --> 00:47:15.880
on September sixth. Carlos Ortiz was charged with being an
755
00:47:15.920 --> 00:47:20.599
accessory to Odin's murder on September twenty seventh, and he
756
00:47:20.760 --> 00:47:25.719
also pled not guilty. Aaron's fiance, Shyanna Jenkins, she was
757
00:47:25.760 --> 00:47:30.039
also pulled into the investigation. This happened on October sixteenth,
758
00:47:30.079 --> 00:47:33.679
twenty thirteen, and she pled like not guilty to perjury charges.
759
00:47:34.880 --> 00:47:37.800
She was accused of lying to the grand jury about
760
00:47:37.800 --> 00:47:41.599
helping Aaron get rid of a box that was believed
761
00:47:41.599 --> 00:47:45.320
to have contained the murder weapon. Because they couldn't find
762
00:47:45.320 --> 00:47:52.039
the murder weapon, it disappeared. These charges were eventually dropped. Meanwhile, Alexander,
763
00:47:52.480 --> 00:47:54.800
the friend who said Aaron had shot him in the
764
00:47:54.800 --> 00:47:58.599
face in Miami, he filed a lawsuit against him, and
765
00:47:59.199 --> 00:48:03.079
it just was a good Aaron's lawyer stated that Aaron
766
00:48:03.119 --> 00:48:06.280
would be invoking his Fifth Amendment rights in this case,
767
00:48:06.400 --> 00:48:09.400
meaning that he would not be answering any questions about
768
00:48:09.760 --> 00:48:13.840
the whole shooting with Alexander. Now. At first, when he
769
00:48:13.960 --> 00:48:17.920
was arrested, he was held at the Bristol Jail in
770
00:48:17.920 --> 00:48:21.400
a section for like mentally ill or violent inmates. But
771
00:48:22.000 --> 00:48:24.079
he was still like a football star and it seemed
772
00:48:24.119 --> 00:48:27.320
like he got some privileges, so guards they would let
773
00:48:27.360 --> 00:48:30.079
him do like pull ups on the stairs outside of
774
00:48:30.119 --> 00:48:33.800
his cell and exercise in like a small cement courtyard
775
00:48:34.159 --> 00:48:36.599
instead of like locking him up in one of the
776
00:48:36.639 --> 00:48:40.159
cells like everybody else. In the summer of twenty fourteen,
777
00:48:40.599 --> 00:48:44.000
Aaron was moved to the Suffolk County Jail in Boston.
778
00:48:44.119 --> 00:48:47.159
While awaiting trial, it was said he played a lot
779
00:48:47.159 --> 00:48:50.079
of card games. He asked his fiancee to bring him
780
00:48:50.079 --> 00:48:52.559
more Harry Potter books. I guess he really liked the
781
00:48:52.599 --> 00:48:57.639
Harry Potter books. And during his time in jail, Aaron
782
00:48:57.840 --> 00:49:01.119
just like really clung to the people who would still
783
00:49:01.280 --> 00:49:04.039
take his calls, like his fiancee, his mom, some of
784
00:49:04.079 --> 00:49:07.920
his old friends. His fiancee would like call him. They
785
00:49:07.920 --> 00:49:10.960
would talk on the phone like twice daily. She seemed
786
00:49:11.000 --> 00:49:13.079
really frustrated with him. To be fair, she had a
787
00:49:13.119 --> 00:49:16.000
good reason to be frustrated with him. I mean, he
788
00:49:16.159 --> 00:49:20.639
ruined everything. On May fifteen, twenty fourteen, things got even
789
00:49:21.360 --> 00:49:24.360
more serious when Aaron was indicted on two counts of
790
00:49:24.400 --> 00:49:29.320
first serving murder for the twenty twelve shootings of those
791
00:49:29.320 --> 00:49:32.599
two men, Daniel and Sephiro, the one that happened outside
792
00:49:32.599 --> 00:49:36.480
the club. Yeah, so that now was added to his
793
00:49:36.599 --> 00:49:40.679
list of charges. Aaron he pled not guilty, and then
794
00:49:40.719 --> 00:49:44.119
he was indicted for witness intimidation related to the twenty
795
00:49:44.159 --> 00:49:49.960
thirteen shooting of Alexander. So listen, it was just a
796
00:49:50.000 --> 00:49:54.360
whole mess and everything was coming up just come back up.
797
00:49:54.519 --> 00:49:58.719
You can't run from it. Karma is that karma consequences
798
00:49:58.800 --> 00:50:01.760
for his actions. So, the trial for the murder of
799
00:50:01.840 --> 00:50:06.639
Odin Lloyd had started on January twenty ninth, twenty fifteen,
800
00:50:06.639 --> 00:50:10.960
and it lasted about three months. Prosecutors showed the journey
801
00:50:11.280 --> 00:50:15.599
video footage that they said proved Aaron had picked up
802
00:50:15.639 --> 00:50:19.400
Odin Lloyd in his car. They then showed footage taken
803
00:50:19.480 --> 00:50:22.960
later at Aaron's house where Odin was like no longer
804
00:50:23.000 --> 00:50:26.239
in the car. They also presented an image of Aaron's
805
00:50:26.320 --> 00:50:29.880
home surveillance system that showed him standing outside his basement
806
00:50:30.480 --> 00:50:34.400
holding what the district attorney said looked like a gun. Now,
807
00:50:34.440 --> 00:50:39.639
Aaron's defense team argued that being there wasn't enough to
808
00:50:39.760 --> 00:50:42.400
prove he was guilty. They were trying to say, like
809
00:50:43.039 --> 00:50:46.320
that the other two guys that were there with Aaron
810
00:50:46.400 --> 00:50:49.239
that night, they were actually the ones that killed Odin,
811
00:50:49.639 --> 00:50:52.760
and that Aaron was scared that they were going to
812
00:50:52.840 --> 00:50:56.079
do something to him if he said anything, so he
813
00:50:56.119 --> 00:50:58.760
didn't say anything, and that him and Odin were really
814
00:50:58.760 --> 00:51:00.679
good friends and he would never do this to a
815
00:51:00.719 --> 00:51:03.679
good friend. Like That's what they were saying. The prosecution
816
00:51:03.840 --> 00:51:07.480
believed that Odin was killed with a forty five caliber
817
00:51:07.880 --> 00:51:14.239
glock pistol, which uses a magazine or like a clip
818
00:51:14.400 --> 00:51:18.320
to load bullets. And then in court they showed text
819
00:51:18.320 --> 00:51:22.159
messages that Aaron had sent to his friend Ernest just
820
00:51:22.199 --> 00:51:27.639
a week before Odin's murder, where Aaron was mentioning clips
821
00:51:28.480 --> 00:51:31.800
for the gun. Prosecutors also pointed out that like many
822
00:51:31.880 --> 00:51:35.880
text messages had been deleted from Aaron's phone and like
823
00:51:35.920 --> 00:51:40.159
the other two guys, which so spish you know well
824
00:51:40.199 --> 00:51:48.400
listen on. On October fifteenth, twenty fifteen, after six days
825
00:51:48.400 --> 00:51:53.760
of discussing the evidence, the jury ended up finding Aaron
826
00:51:53.840 --> 00:51:59.400
Hernandez guilty of Odin Lloyd's murder. Everyone in the courtroom
827
00:51:59.480 --> 00:52:03.920
was very emotional, like yeah, I mean for a good reason,
828
00:52:04.000 --> 00:52:07.960
you know. But like Aaron showed no emotion, like nothing.
829
00:52:08.119 --> 00:52:10.559
He was sentenced to life in prison without like any
830
00:52:10.639 --> 00:52:14.280
chance of getting out. Okay, you think, I don't know,
831
00:52:14.400 --> 00:52:17.519
he would show some kind of emotion. The other two guys,
832
00:52:17.559 --> 00:52:21.480
Aaron's friends, Carlos and Ernest, they were like tried separately
833
00:52:21.519 --> 00:52:24.320
and were found guilty of being accessories to the murder.
834
00:52:24.400 --> 00:52:27.480
They were each sentenced to like four to seven years
835
00:52:27.480 --> 00:52:31.880
in prison. Aarin was sent to like a high security
836
00:52:31.960 --> 00:52:37.920
prison about forty miles outside of Boston. And while Aarin
837
00:52:38.039 --> 00:52:40.440
was in prison, he opened up to his mother in
838
00:52:40.480 --> 00:52:42.639
ways that he hadn't before. Now him and his mom
839
00:52:42.679 --> 00:52:45.960
had a pretty like rocky relationship. He was telling her
840
00:52:45.960 --> 00:52:49.639
on the phone like that she never really she never
841
00:52:49.639 --> 00:52:53.320
really knew him, and that he couldn't trust her. And
842
00:52:53.320 --> 00:52:57.599
then eventually he opened up and told her like two
843
00:52:57.639 --> 00:53:02.679
painful secrets. He ended up telling her that he was
844
00:53:02.760 --> 00:53:07.039
gay and that he had been molested as a child.
845
00:53:07.599 --> 00:53:11.719
Let me put this wig on Aaron's lawyer. His name
846
00:53:11.800 --> 00:53:15.800
is George. He thought like admitting this to his mom
847
00:53:16.400 --> 00:53:20.280
like helped him. Aaron deal with his feelings of self
848
00:53:20.320 --> 00:53:24.920
hatred because he seemed to really not like himself. So
849
00:53:25.280 --> 00:53:29.800
Aaron hired a new defense lawyer, Jose Bias, for his
850
00:53:29.880 --> 00:53:33.639
second murder trial that started in March of twenty seventeen.
851
00:53:34.119 --> 00:53:39.199
Jose is considered to be like a celebrity lawyer because
852
00:53:39.199 --> 00:53:45.719
you know who he represented previously. You'll never guess Casey Anthony.
853
00:53:46.760 --> 00:53:49.559
Oh yeah, Look, if someone's gonna get you out of
854
00:53:49.639 --> 00:53:52.360
being super guilty, I think it'd be this guy. Don't
855
00:53:52.360 --> 00:53:55.199
you feel like, if you hire like a lawyer who's
856
00:53:55.239 --> 00:53:58.039
represented someone who is super guilty, that just kind of
857
00:53:58.039 --> 00:54:01.280
makes you look super guilty too. Sud just me, it's like, oh,
858
00:54:01.320 --> 00:54:04.639
you must be super guilty if you're hiring Casey Anthony's
859
00:54:04.840 --> 00:54:07.960
from lawyer. So this second trial was about the twenty
860
00:54:07.960 --> 00:54:13.880
twelve shooting of Daniel and Sapiro and Aaron and his
861
00:54:13.920 --> 00:54:17.360
old friend Alexander. Remember they were the ones being accused
862
00:54:17.400 --> 00:54:24.079
of these murders. Now this time, Alexander actually testified against
863
00:54:24.119 --> 00:54:28.280
Aaron to avoid facing murder charges himself. The two had
864
00:54:28.280 --> 00:54:32.440
become enemies after Aaron shot him in the face in Florida.
865
00:54:32.800 --> 00:54:36.559
I mean, understandable, but you know, Aaron had hired this
866
00:54:36.599 --> 00:54:40.000
guy who just like knew what he was doing. And
867
00:54:40.079 --> 00:54:43.960
on April fourteen, twenty seventeen, the jury decided that Aaron
868
00:54:44.119 --> 00:54:47.880
was not guilty of the murders. They didn't believe Aaron
869
00:54:48.039 --> 00:54:52.119
was the one who fired the gun. Plus they really
870
00:54:52.159 --> 00:54:55.119
pointed the finger at Alexander because Alexander had like a
871
00:54:55.199 --> 00:54:59.280
lengthy track record, so they're like it was that guy
872
00:55:00.079 --> 00:55:03.440
wasn't good. Now, this was the first time you actually
873
00:55:03.480 --> 00:55:06.360
saw some emotion from Aarin, like when they read the verdict,
874
00:55:06.440 --> 00:55:09.079
Aaron cried, and I guess like this wind gave him
875
00:55:09.119 --> 00:55:12.639
hope that his lawyer might be able to challenge the
876
00:55:12.679 --> 00:55:16.480
conviction for Odin Lloyd's murder. Next, like they were going
877
00:55:16.559 --> 00:55:19.239
to try and prove that Aaron was not the one
878
00:55:19.239 --> 00:55:21.679
who shot the gun. I forgot to put on my
879
00:55:21.719 --> 00:55:24.800
pink shirt. Hold on, I'm a mess. I'm all over
880
00:55:24.840 --> 00:55:30.000
the place. Okay, I feel like a different woman. I
881
00:55:30.039 --> 00:55:34.519
need a cigarette. On April eighteen, twenty seventeen, Aaron Hernandez
882
00:55:34.599 --> 00:55:37.679
ended up taking his own life. It was really like dramatic.
883
00:55:38.079 --> 00:55:41.679
So that night, the door to a cell opened and
884
00:55:41.840 --> 00:55:44.639
he stepped out like it was any other day, but
885
00:55:44.800 --> 00:55:47.639
instead of going to the gym, he ended up like
886
00:55:47.800 --> 00:55:51.840
turning back around and going back into his cell, and
887
00:55:52.000 --> 00:55:55.840
like another inmate snuck into Aaron's cell and like hid
888
00:55:55.920 --> 00:55:59.320
under the bed. Aaron wasn't planning to work out. Instead,
889
00:55:59.400 --> 00:56:03.400
he and this other inmate they smoked a drug called
890
00:56:03.519 --> 00:56:05.920
K two. It looks like weed, but I guess it's
891
00:56:05.960 --> 00:56:09.159
like way more dangerous. So the two of them, I guess,
892
00:56:09.199 --> 00:56:13.519
talked about life, God and death. And then two hours
893
00:56:13.599 --> 00:56:18.360
later the other inmate left prison officials didn't seem to
894
00:56:18.400 --> 00:56:21.360
notice any of this, none of it. And then Aaron
895
00:56:21.480 --> 00:56:24.920
he made his usual phone calls, the last one being
896
00:56:25.519 --> 00:56:30.119
with his fiancee. She said that their conversation was completely normal,
897
00:56:30.840 --> 00:56:34.920
everything seemed fine. He returned to his cell just before
898
00:56:34.960 --> 00:56:38.840
eight pm. Aaron chatted with like other inmates through his door.
899
00:56:39.559 --> 00:56:42.400
A guard passed by his cell like several times during
900
00:56:42.440 --> 00:56:46.719
the night, but around three am, the guard noticed a
901
00:56:46.760 --> 00:56:51.440
sheet hanging over Aaron's cell door, so he called out
902
00:56:51.440 --> 00:56:56.039
to Aaron and was getting no response, so he actually
903
00:56:56.079 --> 00:56:59.159
opened up the door and that's when he found Aarin
904
00:56:59.719 --> 00:57:04.960
hanging from the window bars with a bedsheet around his neck. Also,
905
00:57:05.519 --> 00:57:08.920
they were shampoo spread all over the floor so it
906
00:57:08.920 --> 00:57:14.000
would be like really slippery. And Aaron had written John
907
00:57:14.239 --> 00:57:20.320
three point sixteen on his forehead in blood yeah Bible
908
00:57:20.440 --> 00:57:23.559
verse about God's love and eternal life. And then he
909
00:57:23.719 --> 00:57:29.719
also drew a series of like symbols and references, including
910
00:57:30.599 --> 00:57:34.480
what looked like an unfinished pyramid and an all seeing eye,
911
00:57:35.239 --> 00:57:40.559
which you know commonly associated with Masonic or Illuminati imagery.
912
00:57:40.840 --> 00:57:50.280
All of this just added mystery, what what right? Like bizarre? What?
913
00:57:51.320 --> 00:57:54.199
Very confusing? So the guards they finally freedom they cut
914
00:57:54.239 --> 00:57:57.000
him down. They took turns doing chest compressions until the
915
00:57:57.039 --> 00:58:02.119
paramedics arrived, but it was too late. At four seven am,
916
00:58:02.159 --> 00:58:07.119
Aaron Hernandez was declared dead. Okay, look, there's a theory
917
00:58:07.719 --> 00:58:10.480
that Aaron Hernandez might have taken his own life an
918
00:58:10.480 --> 00:58:15.280
attempt to secure financial benefits for his fiancee and their daughter.
919
00:58:15.559 --> 00:58:19.280
The idea is based on a legal concept known as
920
00:58:19.440 --> 00:58:24.519
abatement abinetio. I know, I was what listens real thing.
921
00:58:24.639 --> 00:58:27.679
The first person who did this was like a Catholic
922
00:58:27.760 --> 00:58:31.760
priest who did some shit and got away with it.
923
00:58:32.119 --> 00:58:34.400
That should be another murder mystery. But listen, here's how
924
00:58:34.440 --> 00:58:37.719
it works and why people believe this is this might
925
00:58:37.800 --> 00:58:42.559
have been his motive. So the abatement whatever rule in
926
00:58:42.599 --> 00:58:46.239
Massachusetts at the time of Aaron's death. The legal principle
927
00:58:46.679 --> 00:58:50.599
of abatement abnetio meant that if a person died while
928
00:58:50.639 --> 00:58:55.239
their criminal case was still under appeal, their conviction would
929
00:58:55.360 --> 00:58:59.480
be vacated. Essentially, it would be as if they were
930
00:58:59.519 --> 00:59:02.960
never cant of the crime. So, since Aaron Hernandez had
931
00:59:03.000 --> 00:59:07.079
appealed his twenty fifteen conviction for the murder of Odin Lloyd,
932
00:59:08.079 --> 00:59:13.800
his death on April nineteen, twenty seventeen, triggered this legal rule,
933
00:59:14.760 --> 00:59:20.719
resulting in his conviction being temporarily vacated. Now, by having
934
00:59:20.800 --> 00:59:25.400
his murder conviction vacated, Aaron might have believed it would
935
00:59:25.400 --> 00:59:29.320
allow his family to pursue any remaining salary or bonuses
936
00:59:29.559 --> 00:59:35.119
owed to him from his NFL contract with the Patriots. Also,
937
00:59:35.360 --> 00:59:40.360
it could have prevented wrongful death lawsuits filed by Odin
938
00:59:40.639 --> 00:59:45.440
Lloyd's family from moving forward against his estate. If Aaron's
939
00:59:45.480 --> 00:59:50.480
conviction was erased, the Patriots in the NFL might have
940
00:59:50.599 --> 00:59:55.760
been legally obligated to pay out his contract, potentially providing
941
00:59:55.800 --> 01:00:00.039
financial support to his fiancee and his daughter. Also, so,
942
01:00:00.440 --> 01:00:05.320
Aaron left three suicide notes before his death, one for
943
01:00:05.360 --> 01:00:08.840
his fiance, one for his daughter, and one for his lawyer,
944
01:00:09.400 --> 01:00:14.280
Jose Bias. The content of these these letters hasn't been
945
01:00:14.280 --> 01:00:20.519
fully disclosed, but reports suggest that they contained messages of
946
01:00:20.679 --> 01:00:25.199
love and hinted that he might have been thinking about
947
01:00:25.239 --> 01:00:29.920
this this strategy. Jose the lawyer later confirmed that Aaron
948
01:00:30.320 --> 01:00:34.639
was aware of this rule. You know what I'm saying,
949
01:00:34.920 --> 01:00:36.559
So a lot of people think that's what he was
950
01:00:36.599 --> 01:00:41.320
trying to do. After Aaron's autopsy, his brain was sent
951
01:00:41.599 --> 01:00:45.840
to a neuropathologist. Her name was doctor Anne McKee. It
952
01:00:45.920 --> 01:00:49.760
was sent to her research lab at Boston University, and
953
01:00:49.840 --> 01:00:52.920
doctor Ann McKee is one of the leading experts in
954
01:00:52.960 --> 01:00:56.639
the world studying the long term effects of brain injuries,
955
01:00:57.119 --> 01:01:02.599
especially in athletes, military veterans, and like others who have
956
01:01:02.719 --> 01:01:08.599
experienced repeated concussions and like head impacts. You know, so
957
01:01:08.639 --> 01:01:11.480
she's like the one who's like studying this, she's the shit.
958
01:01:11.639 --> 01:01:16.000
Doctor McKee announced that Aaron had the worst case of
959
01:01:16.159 --> 01:01:21.159
CTE that she had ever seen in someone so young.
960
01:01:21.360 --> 01:01:24.960
What CTE, Well, maybe you've heard of it, but CTE
961
01:01:25.119 --> 01:01:29.320
is a brain disease caused by repeated head injuries, which
962
01:01:29.360 --> 01:01:32.039
is like really common among football players, you know, they're
963
01:01:32.079 --> 01:01:36.239
constantly She studied Aaron's brains and like part of his
964
01:01:36.400 --> 01:01:42.920
brain had shrunk while others had become unusually large. There
965
01:01:43.000 --> 01:01:48.000
were microbleeds and a protein called TAO, which usually is
966
01:01:48.039 --> 01:01:52.519
found in Alzheimer's patients' brains. Yes, but it was all
967
01:01:52.559 --> 01:01:54.840
over his brain, she said. On a scale from one
968
01:01:54.920 --> 01:01:58.440
to four for being like the worst, Aaron CDE was
969
01:01:58.599 --> 01:02:03.199
rated a stage three. I was watching this interview with her,
970
01:02:03.239 --> 01:02:06.079
and she showed a picture of like a normal brain
971
01:02:06.280 --> 01:02:09.599
at his age and then his brain and his brain
972
01:02:10.320 --> 01:02:15.920
full on holes just missing parts. It was wild, like
973
01:02:16.320 --> 01:02:19.599
his head was fugged up. So doctor McKee explained that
974
01:02:19.639 --> 01:02:23.719
people with severe CTE often have trouble controlling like their impulses,
975
01:02:24.320 --> 01:02:28.920
making decisions, and usually they have a really hard time
976
01:02:29.079 --> 01:02:34.360
managing their anger. Now, is this an excuse, No, you know,
977
01:02:34.480 --> 01:02:37.280
it's not an excuse. He still did what he did,
978
01:02:37.719 --> 01:02:40.599
but it gives us some answers and insight as to
979
01:02:40.679 --> 01:02:47.639
why he was so paranoid just psychotic, really, you know. Well, finally,
980
01:02:47.639 --> 01:02:52.280
on March thirteen, twenty nineteen, the Massachusetts Supreme Court changed
981
01:02:52.320 --> 01:02:56.559
its mind and decided that Aaron's conviction should not have
982
01:02:56.679 --> 01:03:01.679
been erased, making him officially guilty of Odin Lloyd's murder
983
01:03:02.039 --> 01:03:06.360
once again. So that meant his conviction was reinstated, which
984
01:03:06.880 --> 01:03:10.800
would stop any potential financial benefits his family might have
985
01:03:10.880 --> 01:03:16.239
received from his suicide. It's not proven that Aaron killed
986
01:03:16.320 --> 01:03:21.119
himself solely for financial reasons. There's evidence suggesting that he
987
01:03:21.239 --> 01:03:25.159
was aware of this potential legal loophole and may have
988
01:03:25.320 --> 01:03:29.440
hoped his death would benefit his family. Financially. But listen,
989
01:03:29.559 --> 01:03:34.119
like his plan ultimately didn't work out, you know, didn't
990
01:03:34.159 --> 01:03:41.199
work out the way he might have intended. That was
991
01:03:41.239 --> 01:03:45.079
a lot and that is everything I learned about the
992
01:03:45.199 --> 01:03:50.280
Aaron Hernandez case. My friends, look, at the end of
993
01:03:50.320 --> 01:03:52.960
the day, it's a shame because he was really challenged.
994
01:03:53.079 --> 01:03:54.920
I don't watch football or anything like that. I know,
995
01:03:54.960 --> 01:03:57.960
I'm sorry, whatever, but like I was watching clips of
996
01:03:58.039 --> 01:04:00.719
him and like he was so good and it's such
997
01:04:00.760 --> 01:04:03.679
a shame. Huh. I don't know. I would love to
998
01:04:03.719 --> 01:04:05.559
hear what you have to say down below. I know
999
01:04:05.639 --> 01:04:11.000
I look absolutely insane. I have my Tanka Tanka. If
1000
01:04:11.039 --> 01:04:12.960
you haven't watched the show, you have no idea what
1001
01:04:12.960 --> 01:04:15.920
I'm going for, And that's okay. I could be anything.
1002
01:04:16.000 --> 01:04:19.760
I could be your aunt Linda who lives in Florida
1003
01:04:20.239 --> 01:04:25.119
has a cigarette. I could be I don't know, I'm
1004
01:04:25.159 --> 01:04:30.320
really anything tnka McDonald's chicken nuggets. This was a little chaotic,
1005
01:04:30.440 --> 01:04:33.960
wasn't it. I'm talking about like football while dressing is
1006
01:04:33.960 --> 01:04:36.719
a crazy monkey lady. I don't know how to end
1007
01:04:36.760 --> 01:04:44.280
this anyways. Let me know what you guys think down below. Sports. Huh, yeah,
1008
01:04:44.360 --> 01:04:46.800
you know it's funny. Actually it's not funny. But when
1009
01:04:46.840 --> 01:04:52.320
you think about like crazy sports person, who's crazy? I like,
1010
01:04:52.559 --> 01:04:57.599
I always think oj oj right oj, It's always oj OJ.
1011
01:04:58.039 --> 01:05:05.920
But Aaron, Aaron, He's kind, he's kind of like he
1012
01:05:05.960 --> 01:05:09.360
did worry, he kind of did worse. I don't know.
1013
01:05:09.679 --> 01:05:12.199
I guess it isn't a competition of who's worse. I
1014
01:05:12.199 --> 01:05:14.639
think maybe they're both bad, Bailey, two things can be
1015
01:05:14.719 --> 01:05:17.840
right at the same time. Anyways, I hope you have
1016
01:05:17.960 --> 01:05:21.039
a good rest of your day, a happy and safe Halloween.
1017
01:05:21.679 --> 01:05:24.199
You make good choices, you'd be safe out there. Please,
1018
01:05:25.119 --> 01:05:45.519
and I'll be seeing you guys later. Goodbye bye,
