BU BÖLÜM HAKKINDA
In her youth, Solana Rowe did what she could to become estranged from her religion. She ditched wearing a hijab for fear of increased Islamophobia and as a result felt disconnected from her father. But when it came to expressing herself and when it came to laying bare her vulnerabilities through the catharsis of her music, Solana chose to be infinitely linked to Islam by adopting the stage name ‘SZA’.
SZA has now become a genre-bending artist, breaking records once set by Taylor Swift and Whitney Houston. Yet there remains to be many who have never heard her name. If you’re one of those people, then welcome to this episode of Six Notes.
Not only will we be looking at the links between this episode and last episode’s ‘Chappell Roan’ but we’ll also be jumping head first into how Rowe became the chart-topping musician we now know her as, covering everything from birth to success.
