BU BÖLÜM HAKKINDA
It's been a while since I last sat down to record Second Wind, and quite a lot has happened.
Since the last episode, Yvonne and I have travelled from Malaysia through Turkey, Spain, the UK, Canada, the United States and Singapore before eventually finding ourselves back in Bali. When I added up all our flights since leaving the UK last September, we'd covered almost 56,000 kilometres. More than one complete journey around the planet.
This week I'm catching up on everything that's happened along the way. Six weeks living in Toronto, rediscovering my interest in photography, the changing fortunes of my YouTube channel, managing money without a salary, and why we ultimately decided to return to Southeast Asia.
There's also a significant update on my long-running medical insurance dispute. After months of paperwork, arguments and representing myself in arbitration, I've finally won the case. The money hasn't arrived yet, but for the first time I can see an end to something that's occupied far too much of my life.
And perhaps that's the real theme of this episode.
After redundancy, losing my dad, leaving the UK, health problems, financial uncertainty and more than a year of constantly moving, I'm beginning to recognise just how much mental space all of this has consumed.
Now we're back in Bali, trying to slow things down, rebuild our routines and enjoy the life we worked so hard to create.
Even if that means recording this podcast under a duvet in 30-degree heat to escape the noise outside.
A catch-up on travel, money, reinvention, unfinished business and the strange relief of finally being able to stop for a while.
