Jeff: Welcome to Two Souls One Crypt, I'm Jeff Darko. And I'm Beth Graves. In this week's episode, we are reviewing Soulmate. Soulmate. With a number 8. Yeah, the AI girlfriend. The AI girlfriend. First off, if you've seen Megan, it's kind of like that. And companion. Yes, but I'm just going to say companion was better. Yeah, we watched this a while back. just hadn't got around to it. a B companion movie and Megan movie, I guess you could say, which I think Megan's not that great. No, I'm a big fan of Megan. I like Soulmate better, be honest with honestly, yeah, I do. No companion, but no, I mean, it's like in between if Megan and companion had a baby. That's way I see it. Companion, you didn't know what it was for a minute. This one you knew going in. Right. But let's dive into Soulmate. Soulmate. So 40 % on Rotten Tomatoes. How much? 40. yeah. And 53 on the popcorn. the fans like them Yeah, they're about the same. But yeah, fans liked them little better. Of course they M8-T-E. Yep. M-A-T-E. Which it's a science fiction erotic thriller. Yeah. It is kind of erotic. Yeah, you kind of knew that. I mean it starts off in the first five minutes it gets kind of erotic. Right and it's like a... testing the robot. Right. From the screenplay with Raphael Jordan based on a story by James One, Ingrid Bissou and Jordan and stars Lily Sullivan, David Rosedale, bunch of people I can't remember their names. But basically it's... They follow a man who his wife died and he's lonely and very very lonely and they want him to He's very lonely like you don't do nothing. He's like he just like super lonely And they want to me I mean he seems like he's very very lonely. Well, but he's like a very smart Yeah, he's like an IT kind of guy I think maybe a computer programmer. think yeah, and they program they want him to test this robot out because like well his company gets bought out right right and he has nothing better to do so like why not he has he has no wife no kids his company gets bought out by a company that's developing the robot girlfriends or the soulmates as they and it's kind of sad because they I feel like they kind of picked on him as a Is easy target because they're like well, he's lonely and he'll do Whatever, you know and it's kind of not fair there feeling they kind of Pick him out. Well, the guy told him he's like hey you can have one if you want to test it out and yeah, like a He's kind of like a beta tester. Yeah, anybody knows what that is He's like tested him out before they go to market Yeah kind of thing and I guess he's supposed to give him feedback I think it's been a minute since we watched it. But yeah, but he is He's supposed to keep it on the set, whatever the standard. Yeah. He goes in and hacks it and changes. He reprograms it a little bit and like puts in his own code or whatever. Well, he wants her to be more human and less robot. Yeah. Cause she's like super, super robot at the beginning of it. Yeah. And he wants her to have. she's like, whatever you like, what do you like or whatever? Yeah. It's kind of like, like what's the movie coming to America? Whatever you like. He wants her to form her own opinion. He wants her to like him for him and not be a robot. But she is a robot. But he misses that human companionship, which I understand. And she gets a little bit obsessed. But you know how robots are. You can't trust AI and Alexa and all this stuff. like it turns into the Terminator. Terminator. We're going to go there. It's Terminator. And they get a mind of their own and then they just take over. So yeah, it gets insane. Obviously. Yeah. He finally like he works with this one chick and you kind of think is something there is or something not something there. And then it gets to the point where there is something there. And they sleep together. He shuts her down, but then she's in a closet, but then she's watching them and she's not really shut down. Yeah. He just to put her in whatever shut down mode, whatever the code is, he puts her in and then she's still watching. She does not she does not like him being with another woman. No, she's jealous which Most women are and she's a robot and she's a woman Yeah, she goes up to the grocery shop and it's one guy's gonna harass her and she fucks him up a little bit It gets crazy it gets crazy and it's like but Why and they're like and then he has to finally fess up Why did he change her settings? Well, because he wanted to keep more of a human. Yeah. So then like this is like comparing to companion companion. She wants to get away. This one she wants to be with him. Right. Kind of like the maybe it's almost like obsession in a way. Yeah. It's kind of obsession to companion. And so yeah, he calls in to get to her. He wants to return her or whatever. So they're gonna come in and shut her down and she fucks that dude up. Yeah, because She's a hot robot and yeah, she tricks him into sleeping with her because she's a hot robot This little nerdy guy comes in and she's okay. I mean, you know, you know, come on. She's a hot woman and a robot Yeah, I mean she did look pretty good. Yeah But yeah, so she tricks him into sleeping with her and then she fucks him up. yeah Yeah, it's like, it's just, it's just insane that like she was. And then she knows that he sent her to be shut down and returned. But it's crazy how like she's a robot and they don't even care. They're like, yeah, but she's, she's hot. I mean, but she's a robot. She's not real. I don't understand that. I just, I'm like, wow. This is insane. And this is true because like that's really make sex robots now or sex dolls, not really robots. I'm saying like sex dolls. And I'm not I'm not trying to say all guys are like that, but like a lot of guys are like, well, she's hot, but she's a freaking robot. She's not real. don't think a woman would do that? Yeah, but it's worse with a robot. I'm saying you don't think a woman would sleep with a hot male robot. If it's a rolls reversed and he was super hot. guy but he has a robot you don't think the chick would take you? I don't think they would go as far as like with the dude like I don't know some women I should probably would maybe maybe maybe yes maybe not as much as I think dudes would but yeah but I'm just like gosh I don't know you know it's not gonna end well no but it's like women are more into the emotional connection men are more into the physical connection so I think I get the robot thing but still it don't matter she's robot she's hot I'm saying it's like they but like she's crazy and she they're just looking at how she looks and she's hot like I get the bangest hot robot woman Well the guy shutting her down didn't know she was insane. He just went in her shut her down She's like hey you want to do it and he's like, okay Well, I mean basically, I mean I get it. He's probably he was like some guy just Working a job whatever he's like, hey, know, you'd sleep with this hot robot and then cut her off Right. mean, why wouldn't you like, get it. I totally get it. But still, you know, she's crazy and he don't know that. Exactly. You're saying she's crazy, but he don't know. He just started to decommission or whatever. She's like, get one last romp in and then catch you down. Yeah. And like, he's like, he thinks, okay, it's just going to be fine. And then yeah, she's insane. So it's like, yeah, I'm saying that's like robots are scary. Yeah. Terminator. I don't mess with them. just yeah, that's that's what freaked me out. I was so thinking about this movie when I and my mom hates robots, hates robots. Scared to death, scared to death. That's a robot. But there was a movie we watched and she's talked about it for years, four years. And I had to look it up because I can't remember the name of it. I can't remember the gist. But I looked it up and it was called Homewrecker. And it was this guy, like he got divorced and then he got this computer and then like she like grew an arm and she just went crazy and her name was Lucy. I was looking at it, but I was like, it was creepy. I don't, I never heard of that. Well, we have to watch it because it was creepy as hell. And that's what I was thinking about when I was looking up stuff for this movie. was like, yeah, my mom was like that maybe traumatized her. think. Yeah. And there's one where, Is it Joaquin Phoenix he falls in love with a robot? No, is it Lars and the real girl? No, that's not him. No, it's something else. I think he does want her. He falls in love with a robot maybe. I can't remember. We're getting off topic though. We're gonna talk soulmate. We're talking soulmate. But yeah, this movie, yeah, it's creepy. I mean, it's better than Megan in my opinion. Yeah. It's kind of a B movie, I guess. It's not anything like great. But if you like a creepy, robot, sexual, weird movie. Yeah, it's not bad. I call it a sexy Terminator. Yeah, I mean, she does go a little off the rails, but I mean, he made her that way. True. And it wasn't horrible. It wasn't great. Yeah. It's like after a while, like this was, watched this before Obsession, but it's kind of like, like we said, Obsession and Megan and what was the other one? Companion. Yes. If you took some of each one of those and mix them up in a blender and kind of mix it up and then just pour it out into a cup, this is, you'd get soulmate. Right. And of course I liked Companion better and I liked, and I liked this maybe better than did. Megan so it's kind of yeah it's kind of a mix and it was interesting and it's like if you want something to watch and you like creepy robot movies yeah we should talk companion sometime because I love companion companion is good I like that chick that plays the companion loved companion but yeah this movie was not as high on my list as companion and definitely not I mean it's not as high as well well I'm sorry Was better than Megan, but not as high as companion. Yeah. So yeah, kind of in between. Yeah, it's not a bad watch. But if you like Megan and you've seen companion, then I think you'll like this movie for sure. And now she wants obsession because she gets obsessed. Yeah, she does. And she's she's very like I said, she's very pretty and I get it. I understand why they're, you know, like, OK, yeah, you know, she's a robot, but she's hot. I get it. I totally get it. But. I mean that one I don't know if the one dude on the street I think he's trying to rob her. didn't know she was a robot. Right and you can't tell but it's so freaky about it or something and you know. We're gonna get there eventually. Yeah it's kind of scary. Yeah. Because we're in that AI mode and I think that's what made I mean you can't tell if pictures are real anymore. I know that's what made it really scary because you're like. It'll be long you won't know if there's a human or real. Right how do you know this person's human or not and you don't know and that's what made this movie. good and interesting but it's gonna be the Terminator at some point yeah it's a little scary a little scary and Terminator scared me to death too when i was a kid so it didn't scare me as a kid i thought it was interesting scared me to death i was scared of other stuff robots scared me a robotic feature and feature remember robots didn't scare me Freddy Krueger scared me Scared me to your stance on massacre scared me everything scared me as a kid It wasn't like like literally everything that I thought was real like Texas chanselle massacre a terminator wasn't real to me That's what scared me I didn't want to go to sleep It did me too, but like now I'm like I'm not a didn't know Now I'm like I watch all these horror babies. I'm like no, but then I watch criminal minds. my god somebody kid like it just breaking my house and kill me you know like crazy people is what scares me nowadays and now robots are starting to scare me because you know who knows you want to keep this one short and sweet short and sweet about soul mate so what are you ranking it I'm gonna give it a two Yeah, I'll say two and a half. It is all right. Yeah, I probably agree with you. It's a decent watch. I don't know if it ever if it came out to theaters or not. I don't remember playing anywhere. But yeah, like I said, if you like Megan and you like companion and you like obsession, then check it out. It's a decent watch. It's pretty good. It's a good story. It's pretty good. It really wasn't bad. I just I just didn't love it. And it was. It wasn't horrible, like Megan made it to and I'm thinking Sultany should have made it to the theater. It might have. This might not have come around here. Maybe we didn't see it come around here and we didn't... I mean, obviously we weren't going to rush up to the theater to watch it anyways. No, no, but like I just didn't think was... I We didn't even watch companion at the theater, so... I know. We still haven't seen Megan Part 2 either because I just didn't love... The first one was fine, but it was like after I watched the first I think we watched 2.0. No, we have not. We might though, but not really excited about it. was okay. But yeah. This movie was not fabulous. It wasn't horrible. you know, sure. Check it out if you want Yeah. I say check it out. Yeah. Check it out if you want to. It's not one of the greatest movies we've watched this year so far. Definitely not the worst. No, definitely not. I say two and a half. Check it out. I say two. And check it out. And check it out.
