00:00:08.640 --> 00:00:10.880
Well, welcome back everybody to the collaboration space.
00:00:11.039 --> 00:00:12.720
I'm your host, Nancy Lucier.
00:00:12.880 --> 00:00:19.120
And today, in this episode, we're going to be talking about how Logitech adds a cool factor to your Google meeting rooms.
00:00:19.359 --> 00:00:31.120
You know, specifically, we want to emphasize the need that we need to provide adaptable and innovative spaces for employees returning to the office and how Logitech delivers that, specifically in your Google meeting rooms.
00:00:31.359 --> 00:00:34.479
And to help me with that conversation today, I have two guests.
00:00:34.799 --> 00:00:37.280
First, we have Sudeep Trevetti from Logitech.
00:00:37.439 --> 00:00:38.399
Welcome, Sudeep.
00:00:39.119 --> 00:00:40.240
Thank you for having me.
00:00:40.640 --> 00:00:41.200
You're welcome.
00:00:41.359 --> 00:00:42.640
I appreciate you joining me.
00:00:42.799 --> 00:00:46.000
Can you share with our audience a little bit about what you do at Logitech?
00:00:46.640 --> 00:00:47.200
Sure thing.
00:00:47.280 --> 00:00:48.719
So I'm Sudeep Trevetti.
00:00:48.880 --> 00:01:01.119
I'm head of alliances and responsible for our joint innovation as well as joint go-to-market with alliance partners in general, but obviously Google as well, one of our strategic partners.
00:01:01.200 --> 00:01:09.280
So very happy to talk to you and the audience here today about our joint solutions with Google and our partnership with AVISPL.
00:01:09.680 --> 00:01:10.239
Wonderful.
00:01:10.480 --> 00:01:16.959
And joining our conversation is a returning guest again, always happy to welcome Derek Kelly from AVI SPL.
00:01:17.120 --> 00:01:21.519
And Derek, talk a little bit about what you do with Logitech and our Google Practice as well.
00:01:21.920 --> 00:01:22.079
Great.
00:01:22.480 --> 00:01:23.280
Thanks for having me back.
00:01:23.599 --> 00:01:34.239
Yes, Derek Kelly, I am the Vice President of Solutions Enablement for AVISPL, which covers uh you know a number of different things around our UCC landscape, including partnerships and vendor relationships.
00:01:34.319 --> 00:01:37.200
Uh, but I'm also the Google global practice lead.
00:01:37.280 --> 00:01:45.519
Uh so that uh has me responsible for everything, full lifecycle for Google uh in relation to AVI SPL and our customers.
00:01:45.920 --> 00:01:46.239
Okay.
00:01:46.480 --> 00:01:52.000
And talk a little bit about the growth in our Google practice and specifically with Logitech devices.
00:01:52.079 --> 00:01:55.120
And are there specific sectors where we see this growth?
00:01:55.519 --> 00:02:07.359
Like, yeah, so uh, you know, Google as a platform uh has been definitely expanding inside of AVI SPL, especially as they have, you know, uh expanded their landscape as well, their customer base and everything else like that.
00:02:07.519 --> 00:02:17.039
Um so you know, we're seeing a lot of uh, you know, uh a lot of our customers uh on the platform itself looking for different solutions and everything else like that.
00:02:17.120 --> 00:02:22.240
Uh Logitech is a great partner of ours uh that works on multiple different platforms.
00:02:22.319 --> 00:02:32.240
Uh, but because of the fact that they have similar uh setups for multiple different platforms, it makes it a lot easier for our teams to understand design and setup and where they can fit.
00:02:32.319 --> 00:02:34.800
Uh, they are certified solutions on the Google platform.
00:02:34.960 --> 00:03:00.159
So it gives our design teams and sellers the confidence that when they're presenting these solutions to our customers, uh, that they're gonna work, that they're gonna be uh prepared to work on the platform as a whole, provide the type of experience their customers are looking for because of the fact that they've gone through the process of be having a good partnership with Google to ensure that level of consistency across their product lines, which then gets delivered to us, which we then can deliver to our customers.
00:03:01.599 --> 00:03:06.639
Wonderful, you know, helping our customers out with their needs specifically in their Google meeting spaces.
00:03:06.800 --> 00:03:12.080
And Sudeep, we've seen a lot of commitment from Logitech in developing Google certified devices.
00:03:12.240 --> 00:03:18.159
Can you share a little insight as to why this was important to Logitech in supporting today's meeting room needs?
00:03:18.639 --> 00:03:19.199
Absolutely.
00:03:19.280 --> 00:03:25.520
And you know, we've seen this opportunity to work with Google and around Google Workspace for almost 10 years now.
00:03:25.680 --> 00:03:33.520
Um, in case uh you and the audience didn't know, we have actually been partnered with Google for more than 10 years on this uh endeavor.
00:03:33.680 --> 00:03:46.319
Ever since uh Google uh entered this meeting room market with what was uh back then called Chromebox for Meetings, which is really an internal Google project where they took the technology they were using internally and commercialized it uh for the broader market.
00:03:46.479 --> 00:03:58.879
So so we have been working with Google for that long, but it was really kind of meeting of minds, if you will, where both of our paths converged in the sense that both of us saw a need in the market.
00:03:58.960 --> 00:04:09.120
Uh, and back then, I'll say uh the need in the market was the video conferencing solutions were very kind of proprietary, hardware-centric codecs, if you remember.
00:04:09.280 --> 00:04:24.879
Um, so those were hardware solutions that were designed for uh, you know, first of all, with the proprietary hardware chipset, um, with the proprietary proprietary software loaded on it, uh, which led to unnecessarily cost and complexity.
00:04:25.040 --> 00:04:35.360
And we both saw this opportunity that there is a way to do it better, especially in the world of cloud, where there is so much you could do in a more open standards-based manner working with cloud.
00:04:35.600 --> 00:04:39.920
So that is the concept we uh were kind of independently developing that came together.
00:04:40.079 --> 00:04:47.759
So we partnered with Google on what was then called Chromebox for Meetings, back then, supplying some of our camera technologies, getting it certified.
00:04:48.000 --> 00:04:51.360
But from then on, we have really innovated very rapidly.
00:04:51.439 --> 00:05:07.199
We added our tap touch screen console and created whole complete room solutions for small meeting rooms, medium-sized rooms, large rooms that are kind of pre-built, pre-defined solutions to take care of the Google meetings in different room sizes.
00:05:07.360 --> 00:05:25.199
And from there, we took the partnership to the next level by giving customers even more choices where they could create those kits and solutions either on Chrome OS-based Meet Compute platforms or Android-based, where our devices themselves have the capability to run Android and the Google Meet software.
00:05:25.279 --> 00:05:28.319
So that's really tightly integrated solution.
00:05:28.480 --> 00:05:32.079
So it's been a fantastic journey and a very successful journey.
00:05:32.160 --> 00:05:44.079
You know, back 10 years ago, and when we started this endeavor, I'll say a lot of um customers when they thought of video conferencing, they thought of maybe a few boardrooms, some executive rooms.
00:05:44.240 --> 00:06:00.720
It was a very, very tiny number of rooms you could even think of using video to where we are now, where we have a lot of Google customers, including some of the largest Google Workspace customers, who are deploying these solutions to hundreds, if not even thousands, of rooms.
00:06:00.879 --> 00:06:09.040
So it's it's been a really, really rewarding, fulfilling journey to partner with Google on this innovation from that concept to where we are now.
00:06:09.439 --> 00:06:11.360
Yeah, and it's it's been quite a journey.
00:06:11.519 --> 00:06:16.639
And I think in today's part of the journey, you know, we can't talk about meeting rooms without talking about AI.
00:06:16.800 --> 00:06:23.439
So, Deep, can you talk a little bit about uh how Logitech is leveraging AI to create a better meeting experience?
00:06:23.920 --> 00:06:32.800
Yeah, so when we think of product innovation, uh, there are three core pillars uh that we are focused on simple, smart, sustainable.
00:06:33.279 --> 00:06:35.040
Simple, smart, and sustainable.
00:06:35.199 --> 00:06:39.519
Those are the three core pillars for us, and AI really cuts across all uh of those.
00:06:39.680 --> 00:06:48.399
So the way we are thinking is how can we leverage AI to improve engagement in meetings and productivity in meetings?
00:06:48.480 --> 00:06:52.959
You know, those are the real ways AI can impact organizations, right?
00:06:53.120 --> 00:06:58.399
So um in terms of improving engagement in meetings, it comes down to two key areas.
00:06:58.480 --> 00:07:04.160
You know, how can we improve audio and the video, face-to-face engagement uh in meetings?
00:07:04.480 --> 00:07:13.839
So at a very simple level, audio is about how do you eliminate all the background distractions that you know make the remote attendees feel disengaged.
00:07:14.079 --> 00:07:26.639
Um, you know, it's keyboard noises, uh, edge vac sounds, um, bag of chips, people eating lunch in the meeting room, dogs, doorbells, all of the above, right?
00:07:27.040 --> 00:07:49.839
Um, and uh, you know, some funky meeting room scenarios that AVS, PL and our customers have with brick walls and glass walls, and I mean those are the areas where AI has so much impact and real impact that we can make, and we have done that in our products where using AI you can eliminate a lot of that uh background stuff so that the remote attendees can hear everybody clearly.
00:07:50.160 --> 00:07:57.920
Along the same lines, how can we use AI to make sure that the remote attendees can see everybody clearly and feel engaged?
00:07:58.000 --> 00:08:02.639
You know, in a large conference room, if you're a remote attendee, it's a horrible experience.
00:08:02.800 --> 00:08:10.959
You have a bowling alley full of heads, you can barely even see who is sitting, who is talking, and that just makes them feel disengaged.
00:08:11.439 --> 00:08:33.440
And that's where we have used AI to you know use single camera stream, multiple camera streams to um figure out you know where the people are and put them in individual tiles so that people sitting at home can have the same face-to-face engagement uh that they deserve if they were sitting in the meeting space along with somebody across the table.
00:08:34.000 --> 00:08:36.080
Um, so we have done all that innovation.
00:08:36.240 --> 00:09:07.519
We have also launched this product called Logitech Site that is super exciting and real solid use of AI to improve engagement, where we have extended the video experience now even further in the larger spaces where you have a tablet top camera called Site that works alongside with a front-of-room camera, and there is an AI engine coordinating all of these cameras so that the remote attendees see the best view and the closest view using all these multiple cameras working together.
00:09:08.000 --> 00:09:11.679
And all of this is tied into the Google ecosystem, right?
00:09:11.759 --> 00:09:20.559
So that uh when you are in your Google uh Meet um uh meeting, you are seeing individual tiles of people and you have a great experience.
00:09:20.639 --> 00:09:28.480
Uh, we've also integrated uh our products with some of the AI innovations Google is doing, like dynamic layouts, dynamic tiles.
00:09:28.960 --> 00:09:37.519
Um, and where it gets super exciting, also in terms of improving productivity, is what Google is doing with Gemini and features like taking notes for me.
00:09:37.600 --> 00:09:55.600
So our technologies are all integrated into that Gemini uh ecosystem, so that your meeting summaries and all of that are uh you know being fed from the information in the meeting room so that again it helps employees with productivity, helps employees with um engagement in meetings.
00:09:55.679 --> 00:09:58.000
So those are the main areas are call out.
00:09:58.480 --> 00:10:07.039
But uh the other big area before I forget is uh using AI to improve analytics and insights of your workspace.
00:10:07.120 --> 00:10:13.759
You know, it's it's such a big need out there uh with people implementing different sort of hybrid models.
00:10:14.080 --> 00:10:28.480
You really need to have a good handle on what is your utilization, how are things working out, and that's where AI has so much power, and uh, you know, we have built a lot of capabilities in the product around occupancy, analytics, insights.
00:10:28.639 --> 00:10:37.120
Um, so yeah, so improving engagement in meetings, improving productivity, and then giving those analytics and insights.
00:10:37.279 --> 00:10:42.240
Those are the main things I would say where we are concretely helping our customers using AI.
00:10:42.639 --> 00:10:45.200
Yeah, and I like how you mentioned that bowling alley effect.
00:10:45.279 --> 00:10:58.399
You know, that's that's a great way to show your old-fashioned if I'm just like ahead at the end of the room and how Logitech site uh can handle that and using AI to give that face-to-face human connection in meetings, no matter where we are.
00:10:58.559 --> 00:11:00.639
So thank you, Sadiq, for sharing that.
00:11:00.960 --> 00:11:11.759
So along the line along those lines, Deneric, when we think about integration and Logitech and Google meeting spaces, how are how are we incorporating AI into our process, into our design process?
00:11:12.399 --> 00:11:22.080
Um well, we're utilizing, you know, what uh what Sadiq uh kind of laid out of of how we can use the platform's uh use of AI.
00:11:22.240 --> 00:12:09.600
So things like uh, you know, in inside of Google Meet, there's the ability to fix lighting, there's the ability to kind of adjust audio, there's the ability to kind of do all these other scenarios, and then add that to things like, you know, Logitech site and how that then, you know, from that AI component plus the the you know the lighting fix or the you know the the resolution fix or anything else like that, or any of the other stuff that you can kind of do through the AI platforms uh that are working in the background to improve the experience so that the you know the people who are experiencing this are you know not experience a completely different scenario every single time they go, they they either visit a different room or they connect with people in different locations or anything else like that, uh, the overall experience becomes you know much better, more consistent, uh, you know, and more standardized in terms of how they they handle kind of scenarios.
00:12:09.840 --> 00:12:42.559
So by knowing what those different elements are, how they function together, then our design teams, you know, can can base solid designs off of, well, if I use this product with this platform and we have this expectation of results, we're gonna get a more consistent experience for the end users that are joining the meetings, that are uh, you know, might be a remote participant, uh, you know, and how the systems themselves can bring a little bit more equity to that kind of meeting experience, you know, especially for like, you know, remote employees or those that might be on a mobile device or something like that.
00:12:42.720 --> 00:12:50.559
You know, they they don't have to sit with their phone maybe in a remote location trying to figure out who's talking at the end of the bowling alley effect and everything else like that.
00:12:50.799 --> 00:12:59.600
They can get a, you know, they can get a better experience, you know, despite, you know, maybe not being on the most ideal device for uh, you know, a situation or anything else like that.
00:12:59.759 --> 00:13:13.200
And that part is where we can utilize AI and the components that are built into the either the hardware products or the software component of Google, use them together, design around that concept to provide a better experience for everybody overall.
00:13:13.440 --> 00:13:13.759
Yeah.
00:13:13.919 --> 00:13:16.639
And then Derek, I love how you said it runs in the background.
00:13:16.799 --> 00:13:20.159
If I'm the user, I walk into the room, all these things happen for me.
00:13:20.240 --> 00:13:22.799
And it's not something that I have to be cognizant of where I'm sitting.
00:13:22.960 --> 00:13:24.080
Can I get up and move around?
00:13:24.159 --> 00:13:28.960
You know, AI is going to take care of that for me and give everybody the best view possible.
00:13:29.279 --> 00:13:31.919
Um Deep, I want to go back over to you for a minute.
00:13:32.080 --> 00:13:36.960
Um, we mentioned that, you know, this experience is kind of like expected from users today.
00:13:37.120 --> 00:13:47.840
Um, can you talk a little bit about what you hear or what are the challenges that customers have in meeting spaces and the benefits of using Logitech devices that answer those challenges?
00:13:48.799 --> 00:13:53.519
Yeah, so as you know, as we all know, uh we are really living in transformative times.
00:13:53.600 --> 00:13:57.120
You know, where, how, when people work has fundamentally changed.
00:13:57.200 --> 00:13:59.919
And that results in you know very different sort of needs.
00:14:00.240 --> 00:14:06.480
As we talk to customers, um, they have to think about workplace experience in a whole different way.
00:14:06.639 --> 00:14:26.320
Uh and IT facilities, um, AV and HR even, they all have to work together in a you know meaningful different way in terms of thinking about what's the new workplace experience and how do we deliver that, where and how people work, what role AI plays in it, and uh how how do we put it all together?
00:14:26.559 --> 00:14:31.360
Um, and the way we kind of break it down is there are end user needs and there are IT needs.
00:14:32.240 --> 00:14:37.600
End user needs, as you said, um, they want simplicity, they just want to walk in, stuff should work.
00:14:37.679 --> 00:14:39.440
You know, AI should do all the work for me.
00:14:39.519 --> 00:14:43.440
I shouldn't have to think about how do I move the camera here to there and what do I do.
00:14:43.679 --> 00:14:52.799
Right, so simplicity for end users, and then from IT perspective, it's about um having that predictable performance, reliability, right?
00:14:52.879 --> 00:15:03.840
So those are the two constituents we are thinking about and uh constantly thinking about how do we solve the pain points for both of those so that there's a consistent workplace experience being delivered.
00:15:03.919 --> 00:15:16.399
And the the way it all kind of comes together for us is that this vision that we want to be a provider for that kind of innovative workplace experience for all people, for all spaces.
00:15:16.639 --> 00:15:44.559
So it's a pretty broad vision that we have developed and we've built our portfolio uh to deliver that vision where um you know we can take care of Google customers' needs, whether they are working from home, in the office, uh, in the office in a fixed desk, or um, or maybe like a flex desk scenario, or in a meeting space, a small focus room to a boardroom to uh you know, very complex space which has divisible rooms and stuff like that.
00:15:44.639 --> 00:16:01.120
So, again, what we've built here is a complete portfolio of solutions across all of those, which are meet uh and Chrome OS certified devices, whether it's headsets, webcams, keyboard, mice, or meeting room solutions uh across all of those spaces.
00:16:01.279 --> 00:16:10.080
Uh, and something I touched upon uh uh earlier as well is as you cover that broad spectrum, customers need choices, they need flexibilities, right?
00:16:10.159 --> 00:16:13.600
So that has been a core fundamental pillar for us as well.
00:16:13.759 --> 00:16:18.720
You know, uh in meeting room, uh, there are some customers who want Chrome OS-based solutions.
00:16:18.799 --> 00:16:30.879
There's just familiarity uh for that solution, or and there are some who want Android-based simplistic solutions where the devices uh run Android and simplify the management and deployment.
00:16:31.039 --> 00:16:35.679
So, again, that choice and flexibility is a core belief for us uh as well.
00:16:36.480 --> 00:16:43.519
Uh, so that's uh about you know the breadth of solutions that uh we have uh for the whole uh Google ecosystem.
00:16:43.759 --> 00:16:50.240
Uh again, simple, smart, sustainable solution for all people across all spaces.
00:16:50.399 --> 00:16:54.240
That's the vision that uh we are delivering to solve the pain point for our customers.
00:16:54.639 --> 00:16:59.600
It's a tall order that both Avi SPL and Logitech and Google have worked towards.
00:16:59.759 --> 00:17:03.919
And you, Sudeep, you shared a lot about the journey that Logitech has had.
00:17:04.000 --> 00:17:09.039
I'm just wondering, can you give us any sneak peeks as to what you're working on and what's coming next?
00:17:09.599 --> 00:17:14.799
Yeah, these are definitely exciting times for our industry, for us, our partners like AVISPL.
00:17:14.880 --> 00:17:24.319
There is so much innovation that uh, you know, uh we can we have delivered, but we can deliver more to take care of workplace experience needs for our customers.
00:17:24.480 --> 00:17:32.640
So there are some that uh I can definitely talk about that are near-term uh and super impactful things that we are very excited to deliver.
00:17:32.799 --> 00:17:39.839
Um, first one is uh we recently announced a product called Rally Board 65, which is an all-in-one display.
00:17:40.079 --> 00:17:55.680
So it's a display along with mic, camera, speakers, compute, uh, all of that in a single form factor that you can just simply put on a wall or credenza or put on a cart and move it around wherever you have a need for collaboration or video uh in your office.
00:17:56.000 --> 00:18:00.880
Uh soon we'll be adding support for Google Meet on Android uh for that as well.
00:18:00.960 --> 00:18:12.240
So you'll be able to uh you know natively run Meet on that device and just simply install it, cart it around wherever you need uh to do Google Meet uh uh collaboration in your office.
00:18:12.400 --> 00:18:17.039
So that's one innovation that's coming shortly that uh I'm happy to share with you.
00:18:17.279 --> 00:18:23.680
Uh, second, is we talked a lot about Android and how we are uh you know providing solutions around Android.
00:18:23.759 --> 00:18:25.920
We are continuing to invest more in that.
00:18:26.400 --> 00:18:42.720
Um literally, as we speak, um uh we are rolling out software update that will enable uh what's called as direct guest join, which enables the ability to join Cisco WebEx and Zoom meetings from a Google Meet Room.
00:18:42.880 --> 00:18:50.400
Super powerful Android-based solutions um will now have this capability to uh to join WebEx and Zoom meetings.
00:18:50.480 --> 00:19:00.160
Uh, and in addition, we'll continue to add more devices, even more devices that support Meet on Android experience, so that again our customers have flexibility.
00:19:00.319 --> 00:19:01.920
Uh so that's the second area.
00:19:02.079 --> 00:19:04.319
The third area obviously is all around AI.
00:19:04.480 --> 00:19:11.359
There's so much more we can do to help our customers uh you know improve engagement and productivity.
00:19:11.519 --> 00:19:29.519
Uh, one specific uh area I do want to highlight is I talked about this product Logitech site that provides that AI experience in a meeting room where the tabletop camera front site works with uh front-of-room camera so that you have a better uh you know engagement in meetings.
00:19:29.839 --> 00:19:32.960
Happy to share that we are extending that experience further.
00:19:33.039 --> 00:19:41.359
And if you have larger spaces, you would be able to daisy chain one more sites up to two sites that work with a front-of-room camera.
00:19:41.519 --> 00:19:56.880
So, all together there are six cameras now working together via an AI-based intelligence director to provide that uh again a very engaging experience in meeting rooms, um, and a lot more with Google around AI, dynamic tiles, layouts, Gemini.
00:19:57.200 --> 00:20:12.079
I talked about so those are the three key themes I would talk about, all in one around Rally Board, Android enhancements, and then some of these AI enhancements uh that are kind of the core things we are focused on.
00:20:12.240 --> 00:20:36.960
In terms of managing the devices, um, you know, we have a strong partnership with AVI SPL as well, where the Symfony product is integrated with our devices, um, where we've already done the core integration that the Google customers can use, uh, but more to come on that front as well, uh, where uh you know you can get even more analytics information and management uh using Symfony for Logtech solutions for Google Meet.
00:20:37.119 --> 00:20:38.640
So, yeah, it's a lot more uh happening.
00:20:39.119 --> 00:20:40.000
A lot coming, a lot coming.
00:20:40.720 --> 00:20:44.000
Smart, sustainable solutions for all people, all spaces.
00:20:44.319 --> 00:20:44.720
Perfect.
00:20:44.799 --> 00:20:46.720
And you know, everything's always changing.
00:20:46.799 --> 00:20:48.880
So, Derek, I I'm gonna put you on the spot.
00:20:49.039 --> 00:20:50.319
All this new stuff is coming.
00:20:50.480 --> 00:20:56.319
What does AVI SPL and our team do to stay on top of all this and be ready when everything new is available?
00:20:56.720 --> 00:21:10.400
So AVI SPL as a company is a great partnership with Logitech where we work with them prior to releases and prior to new releases of products to be prepared with processes and expectations and how these devices function.
00:21:10.480 --> 00:21:15.200
We've vetted them out in real-world situations, we've incorporated them into Symfony as a platform.
00:21:15.279 --> 00:21:20.240
You know, Sidi mentioned Symfony uh incorporation and how our products already work together.
00:21:20.319 --> 00:21:24.559
But as new products get introduced, we prepare them in that scenario.
00:21:24.640 --> 00:21:35.200
Uh, and then we also uh have an extensive amount of work that has gone into the Chrome OS ecosystem and how we can use Symfony inside of the Chrome OS ecosystem for everything that we're doing.
00:21:35.440 --> 00:21:43.680
That preparation allows for us to be confident in the installation of these products once they are released live to the customer base.
00:21:43.759 --> 00:22:02.480
Uh, and then we can install that, prepare the customer for of what's best practices, how this is best going to function and work, what might be some things that they have to prepare for on their end so that when it goes in, their end users can just use the systems and the technology, you know, seamlessly blends into the background and they can just focus on their jobs and the work to be done.
00:22:02.799 --> 00:22:08.480
Yeah, so we won't be surprised or or thrown off when customers start asking for for these new devices.
00:22:08.960 --> 00:22:09.440
We'll be ready.
00:22:09.599 --> 00:22:10.240
We'll be ready.
00:22:10.400 --> 00:22:10.720
Wonderful.
00:22:10.799 --> 00:22:11.440
Thanks, Derek.
00:22:11.839 --> 00:22:15.279
