Speaker 1: What's going on? Everybody? Welcome in to a Wednesday Nation of Texas All Access from the Hunday Texans Radio Studio. I'm your host, football analyst and silent reporter, John Harris, and so glad to be with you, back with you on this Wednesday show. We've got plenty for you. Got our Wednesday Night Draft, now follow me on this. We'll have this later in the show, so we have a little bit of time to move. But Mark Drew Deepe joined me to come up with the ultimate seven round plus a UNFA draft, so eight rounds. You don't have the draft first round, second round, third round, fourth round, fifth round like in that order. So there was some strategy involved to our Wednesday Night draft. But your makeup of seven players one only one from each round. So I'll tell you this. My very last pick, and I picked third, was a first rounder because those three picked first rounders with their first round pick, and so I figured, you know what, I know it first rounders. I hit my pick, and what's left I'm gonna wait. So actually in the first round, I picked the seventh rounder, and so you'll see how this comes together, and once that draft is going to be very very cool, So you want to hang on for that, There's no doubt. We also will take a little bit of a look in our next segment at what is going to happen with Noanrea. How in the secondary does that change the draft priority in some sense. We'll talk about that at the next segment and look at some of the some of the questions that I've gotten over the past few weeks as it retains to the Texans and draft strategy, and how does the news of Andrea how retiring play into that. That to me is that it hit me like a It hit me like a just a gut punch yesterday, and I saw it, and you know, your ey just gotta play tricks on you a little bit. I saw, I saw our graphic, I saw his picture, and I was like, okay, that usually happens for a contract extension, which Drey signed a couple of years ago, so I knew it wasn't that. And the only other couple of things I came up with were, oh my gosh, he's he's hurt or he's sick again. Oh man, this is not good. And so when I read it and I saw, you know, thanks to the organization that said. I was like, oh no, he's sick again. And I read it and I was just like, my jaw is at the floor. It hit the floor, But I understand. I understand completely, and I will miss him so much. I loved Andre how Man, that guy, and I always will. I mean, he's just fantastic. At the the the Academy Sports Outdoors Texas Bowl, he was honorary captain for a Vanderbilt and his mom was there and so I walked up, I saw him. I game a big hug, and then his mom looked at me and said, is this that nice man that's reading good things about you? Dre and Jerry kind of laughed and I kind of love. He goes as mom, this is John and so she took a picture of both of us. And he means a lot to a lot of people in this organization. So it hit. It hit pretty hard. But we're talking to the the next segment about what's the ramifications on the draft order or potential free agent they might sign. We'll talk about that whatever. Once to night Draft. We're gonna kick it off with our in the Lab with Drew Dorty. This one was fun. If you haven't heard the end of the lab the last couple of weeks. This was fun. This was a This was a suggestion from Da how A fifty on Twitter. I think that's a Twitter handle. I could be wrong. I apologize, but he wanted us to come up with the ultimate fifty three man roster. So last week we did offense. This week it's defense. Last week we unveiled the fifty three on offense and special teams. And when I say the fifty three, I'm talking about the fifty three man roster we'd want to put together from the Houston Texans. Now, we gotta choose a defense John, Yeah, twenty so that leaves us twenty twenty four bodies. Yeah, and let's start up front, because that's where he started. Okay, how did you go with twenty? I went through. I went with eight defensive line slash, all right. I was wondering how. I was wondering how you you came to this number? All right? I wanna grab a pen and paper here. Just so, I turned forty seven the other day. True, so my old man's skills are forty seven. I know how about that? All right? So d line, So let's start with the obvious. Yes, Gary Walker, he is in there. Yes, you're right, Okay, that's the obvious. Okay Walker, Uh, that guy named Wat's pretty good yep him Clowney yep. Okay, um hmm. Would you have put Mario of course? Of course? Right of course, Williams. So that's four, and you picked eight, right yep. Whitney of course. Um so that's that's five. So okay, now here are some options. I would think about Seth Pain. I think Seth was He's in, all right, Seth is in. I mean I didn't even hesitate, he was in. Okay, good to beef up front Reader of course, I think I think he's oh and Ninja. Yeah, that's it. That's seven. I have nine then, So okay, my math is awful because you have. Here's what we have, Gary Walker, JJ, Clowney, Mario Whitney, Seth Payne, DJ Reader, Antonio Smith and who am I'm missing? Who am I missing? Who's the ninth? I got a guy who's really athletic, can play some different spots for you, barrowin there you go, and he provides some comic relief. He does that all around good guy. So yeah, there's my nine right there. I don't know that I have any I don't have any real debate with with those athletic You got some beef in there with Reader, Payne Walker, yeah, you know you can do. And those are three guys that can move around still a little bit. I don't know that I have any with I have no beef with any of those, uh whatsoever. I'm just trying to think if there's anybody. I don't think there's anybody that that we would have forgotten in that list. I think that's good. Okay, okay, And how do you line those who do you put on the field, Because I gotta I gotta have. I gotta have Watton, Clowney and Well on the field. At the same time, what are we run I had? What I'm saying, I'm almost well, let's do the linebackers. Then I'll tell you because I I would I would lean three four with this group and then my outside linebackers. See that's that's tough, because I would want to play Clowney inside because I'm that way. I like my I like interior disruption, so I would like to put Clowney. I would almost go with Watton Smith inside Clowney and Mario outside, you know, and some speed Russian stuff, rush those four and then let whatever anyway, Yeah, if I put those four, But then again, if you want to stop the run, you could, I mean, you could put Reader and Pain on the inside, and then you could put Ninja as one defensive end and then what Clowney is the other one? Sure? I mean if you're just looking to stop, stop the run and carry Walker can jump all over all right, That is, you have lots of options. Linebackers. How many six? Okay? Cushing yep, Demiko of course, b mac yep. Zach yep. Cutting him Okay, Um, let's see Cushing, Ryan's b mac Zach that in the order I picked him in. But you know, I know, I know. Um, let's see gets six right, yep. Two more? Oh uh Sharper yep. Jamis Sharper from that era. Gotta go way back these two, Jamie Sharper and Jay Foreman yep. I mean, I don't there's a few other guys you could maybe consider, but you gotta have those those are I don't know. I mean, they gobbled up off all six of those guys at one point. Another gobbled up tackles yep in a season. And I mean the they it's interesting when you look at it too. It's two guys kind of pert era, Yeah, Jamie Strupper and Jay Foreman kind of the first era, and then uh, Demiko and Cushing were together, and then you got b Mac and Zack together. It's kind of it's kind of interesting the way that that, uh, that those guys worked out. All right, I'm pretty good there, all right, corners, Yeah, how many? I only have four? Okay, but it's but anyways, yeah, I got four, but you've got versatility with your safeties kind of okay, j Joe. Yeah, and then Aaron Glenn yep, Kareem. Kareem is on. I haven't as safe but yeah, but yeah, okay, all right, well corner don't kind of as a corner. Okay. So I got my safety group here. Safety is gonna be interesting now that I think about it. Um, where'd you but Margus Coleman. I put him as a safety and he's on absolutely Okay, so we know we got Kareem. Gotta have Marcus Man. Yeah, for no other reason than yeah, there's no doubt, but he could play. He intercepted seven passes in a season for the Texans once. So J Joe Aaron Glenn. Did you put oh death here Robinson? Of course, gotta have him. Pay me Dante um Jjo Aaron Glenn, Dote Robinson and one of our favorites with us no longer still in the league undrafted AJ Yeah, yeah, those are my four corners. Yeah, that's pretty that's pretty salty. And then I got safety's one, two, three, four, five five named two of them Kareem Jackson and Marcus Coleman. But Kareem can play corner and pinch if you need him. Glover yep, Glover Quinn yep. Uh. Did you put Bernard Pollard on there? I did not? Okay, Bernard was good in OH nine Struggling. I wouldn't put him on there. I was just kind of the first name that pop liked him a lot. How did you say you? I got five and you get three Glover, Kareem Jackson, and Marcus Coleman, so there's two left. You definitely didn't put Matt Stevens on there. Didn't put Matt Stevens on there? Um did you put Justin Reid on there? I sure did, all right, because I think he's gonna be something and he was something last year. No, doubt um, But about Drew Howe, Drew, I didn't, and that's he was my borderline guy because I think this guy was a little bit more versatile, a little bit you know, he came in, he was first playoff team big free Daniel. Yeah, Daniel Manning. I mean, he's I alluded to him the other day we're talking about specialists because you can use him as a turn man. Okay, now the names we don't have their that not to argue with, But drey Howe is the first one that kind of comes to mind. Yeah, I don't you know, when you look at the one more season, if of drey Howe playing the way he has, though he could kind of push his way into the conversation. I don't think there's any question. There are a couple of things kind of stand out as I look at this. True, that's nine defensive linemen, Yeah, but really only four corners. Yeah, but you got Kareem can play corner. Cream didn't play. Kareem did play a lot of corner. But yeah, and Glover should have never played corner. Who'd I leave out cornerwise? Then that's what I'm saying. Yeah, this franchise has just not had a bunch of not that a lot of franchises have the lockdown corner, but this franchise has had Watt and Clowney and Williams and Merciless and pain and I mean they've had dudes up front, yeah, and then at corner it they just they haven't been able to get it right. You wanted to get it right with Kevin Johnson, and you did have it right with a j Boyer, but he wanted to take a deal that the Jaguars put in front of him. But you know, you drafted down to Dante Robinson the first round and for that first year he was fantastic. I don't think his play ever reached that level again, but he was good. Yeah, he was good. Aaron Glenn was phenomenal, but you were unfortunately getting me at the end of his career. You got Jjoe at the right time. Yeah. My point in that is it's time to get some young cover dudes, and I certainly think that is what the Texans will do going forward. I started thinking about that last night. Texans spent at twenty fifteen on Kevin Johnson first rounder in twenty fifteen, and they already at that time had on the roster, a J Boyer, they had Kareem, they all said J Joe. But since twenty fifteen, after Kevin Johnson, the only corner that the Texans drafted was true corner was Jamaye Kelly. They drafted Justin Reid. Safety. They drafted Jamaine Kelly corner. Last year they drafted Dressin de Coup. He's really a safety. He was never really a corner. And kJ Diller was a safety. That was in twenty sixteen. So after drafting Kevin Johnson, they didn't they didn't draft corner. I think now Brian Gaye, the personnel staff, they know they've got to get some young corners to add to the mix. Bradley Roby's in the mix, Brian Body Calhoun is in the mix. A rookie's gonna be in the mix. Still got Jjoe, Jamaine Kelly hopefully is gonna be healthy. So it's time to build that up with some some young blood at that position. I don't think you have to go to the extremes that the Packers did. Last year. The Packers drafted Jayar Alexander and Josh Jackson. Those guys are gonna be started for them for a long time. They got him in the same draft, so you don't have to do that, I don't think, but I think putting a little bit more nuggets in the basket of cornerback going forward is going to be is gonna be pretty important, pretty important. But that was fun. There's a lot more. We talked about Shane Leckler a little bit, and we did that podcast right before Andre Howe made his announcement, so we weren't just talking about Andre how to just throw him in there. I found out probably forty five minutes to an hour after that that Andre Howe was retiring, So we talked about Shane Leckler a little bit and Nat who just announced his retirement. I'm sure next week come into lab we'll talk a little bit more about Andrea Howe. But with Andre retiring, does that open a spot in the priority order for safety amongst those top four picks? Those are the I think the foremost important ones, obviously coming up first the first two seconds and a third. Does it change the draft strategy at all? I'll get to that and some of the other questions that you've had over the last couple of weeks. Next right here in Texas All Access, third and ten Cults at the Houston thirty. Luck in the gun. Here's the snap pocket collapsing lock throws all that the metal hip Dad betterceptd Dre Hall at the fifteen yard line. He's got the ball and the Texans turned back. Indeed, that was one of Andre Howe's twelve career interceptions, one of three that he had in only eight games last year for the Houston Texans as he returned from Hodskins lymphoma got back. First game back was against Jacksonville. He got dinged up in that game, then came back in Week ten against Washington and then played the rest out. He had three interceptions in his final five games. And that was always one of the things about Andre Howe was he was a ball magnet. He found the football, and with those three interceptions, he tied for the team lead in twenty eighteen. It's amazing to think about, amazing to think about a great career five years, seventh round or twenty fourteen. And I'll never forget when we drafted him in twenty fourteen. When we do our our you know, draft weekend radio, we always interview the draft picks, and I remember asking him, you know, seventh round, I Actually, I thought I had him much higher. I thought he was a third or fourth rounder, and he ended up going seventh round. And he had a chip on his shoulder from the day he got here, but not in a not in an angry, nasty way. He just had a chip like I'm gonna I'm gonna prove it to everybody. In his second year of twenty fifteen, he moved to safety and that's that's when it took off. He had feign receptions that year. He picked off Tom Brady in the playoff game up there in New England. He was man. He was fun to watch. He's fun to have run the building. He's a great leader, I know the great things. I hope that he stays connected to the organization in some way, shape or for him, because he's the kind of guy that we absolutely, without question, need to have in this building. Now, from a football standpoint, let's take that next step. From a football standpoint, what does it mean for the Texans at safety now? They signed to Sean Gibson in the off season. They also obviously have a budding star in Justin Reid. Andre was gonna be the third safety, but the Texas play a third safety a lot of the times. They would do it last year with Justin Andre Howe and Tyran Matthew and so Drey was gonna play a lot of safety. He was gonna play the third safety anyway, but he's gonna play a lot. So that now begs the question does safety move up as a priority now. I think there are a couple of things to keep in mind here. They also drafted Brian body Calhoun, who can play the nickel, So you don't need to drop down Justin Reid to Sean Gibson. You don't need to walk one of them down in nickel as you would because Dre and Justin Dre and to Sean would play the middle of the field, and then that would leave Justin playing or to Sean Gibson playing up. You had some options, but now more than likely you leave to Sean and Justin deep and then you you could put Brian body Calhou. So it's not an absolute that you've got to have his safety. Because I think you're covered when you go to Nicke or you go to Dime. I think you're covered, but your depth is stretched. Now I think that Mike Tyson the football player almost feel like we're contractually obligated to say that. In some way, I think Mike Tyson is gonna end up being a pretty solid player. He stepped in at times. I remember he went in. He came into the Jacksonville game after Week seven when Andrea gotten hurt, and I remember all the defensive backs kind of rallying around and making sure he was in the right spot and where he needed to be. And I think I think he did a really good job. So I think a guy like I think a guy like that can play a role. I think a J. Moore is gonna get an opportunity to play. Mean, he got here the first day off of waivers, and really he didn't have an opportunity to have and kind of fight. He just really kind of jumped on special teams, took that role a ran with it and did a great job with it. But I think he's definitely gonna want to challenge for an opportunity to play on this defense in some way, shape or form. I mean, look, you want him on special teams, there's no doubt. And both those guys Mike Tyson J Moore are going to be special teamers. But is this an opportunity of one of those four day, one day two picks to look at the safety position. Now we've talked about this, We have said tackling, corner got to happen. I wouldn't be surprised if one of those if they double up on one of those positions in the four like they get two tackles or they get two corners. I wouldn't be surprised by that. Now we've talked about running back for a while, running back being a position you need a third running back. There's a really good draft depth wise in the second, mid second to probably the end of the fifth, beginning of sixth where you can find I think a good running back. You can find an impactful running back on this roster. So let's say you don't draft two tackles or two corners. You draft a tackle, you draft a corner, you draft even an offensive weapon, be a running back, some kind of hybrid player. Whatever. That leaves you one other pick. Do you look at the safety realm? Do you look at the safeties with one of those those two picks. It's funny because we've talked about the other day market I did. The Draft Network did a mock draft and they had are one of our second round picks being Taylor Rap and I looked at it thought just safety doesn't seem to really fit. But now you look at it, think, man, we've lost Dre how maybe this is something that we need to look at. Maybe safety moves up in importance in this particular draft. I don't have a problem with that because I like the safeties in this draft. I really do. Now the question becomes how early do you do it. But the safeties that I have in the Harrison one hundred that I think could could fit, I got like Jonathan Abram, guy could really run. He might be a little closer to Gibson and read that may not fit in He kind of falls into an area I think between the first pick and where the Texans are drafting in the second. So that's maybe a little bit much This year. Adderlie, who I really love as a safety, but you'd have to get him in the first round. Taylor Rap, I think could be there in the second round, may even be there in the third round. He didn't run exceedingly well, and I think that could could maybe hold him back. But you put that joker near the box, he's gonna make plays a moni hooker from Iowa Kiman on this guy, I think he is a whale of a player, great athlete. I think he really could be a good fit. Deatte Thompson is the middle of the the field player with range. He's a little bit wiry, thin, but he's out of West orn Stark where Old Thomas came from, and covers the field like no other, so he's a little different. One other guy that I really liked that's in the hundred and this could make a lot of sense. The more I think about this is Darnell Savage from out of Maryland. Not the biggest guy in the world, tops out about five ten and a half one eight, but ball skills everything you're looking for. Four three, six, can cover underneath, guys, can cover slot, guys, cover backs on the backfield. Just an all round really good safety. Darneld Savage from Maryland. I think if you win in later rounds, I think there's some intriguing prospects in the later rounds that you could look at. I think a guy that you could play at safety, And the more I think about it, Chris Boyd might be a guy from University of Texas. He played corner, but I think when he comes to the league. He's got to play safety. That might be a good fit for him because you could drop him down and have him cover some slots because he's got to cover skills. I just don't want Chris Boyd on the primer permanently, but play at safety safety slash Nickel, I'd be okay with that. Totally fine with that, Marvel tell from out a usc long range of your safety. A little banged up at the Senior Bowl, but some really good things testing wise. Athletically, he is a really good option. And here's one way off the beaten path is Saquan Hampton six one in a quarter two or six, kind of built like the other safeties the Texas already have, but can run ran a four four eight. I think at the combine he's got some athletic ability, he's got some range. I think there are safeties that you can find if you wanted to looking at day two range that could fit what you want to do. They're different kinds. One guy didn't mention is Chauncey Gardner Johnson out of Florida. Absolutely love. Now, those are all players I've given to you that I think would fit and be a good pleasures I'd like all of them. I don't think there's any of the might go. I don't like that guy, this guy love. I love Chauncey Gardner Johnson. I think he would be a tremendous fit for this defense. Tremendous fit. I would love to see him there in the second round. Chauncey Gardner Johnson out of University of Florida and Cocoa High School down in Florida where they've won a lot of state championships. Chauncey Gardner Johnson. Keep an eye on that name in this draft. All right, get back. It's our ultimate Texans seven round draft plus a UDFA. We'll do that next Right here in Texas, acis welcome back to a Wednesday an issue of Texans All Access from the Honday Texans Radio Studio. I'm your host, John Harris, and I've got the whole crew in here. I had a Voice of Texas Mark Vandermere, I got Drew Doherty, and I got Dpcity, I got everybody in here because it's time for the Wednesday Night Draft. Everybody, all right, let's go. Now, here's what we're doing tonight. We're drafting a full seven round draft. Each of us. The only caveat to all of this is that all of us get the Shawn. Because Mark's got the first pick, he would take the Shawn, and then we'd all have really no quarterback at that point. Okay, so what if Mark then he would be fired on the spot because he would be he would be picking Dave. We're gone over Deshaun Watson. So everybody gets the Shawn, so that it's fair. Got that, got it, got it? All right? Seven round draft. Build your team how you want. We will snake the draft starting with Mark Vandimere. You can take if we're gonna do it your way, so we can do it at any round that you want, any player you want. We got four people here, Johnny. When we get into like the fifth round, it's gonna be slim pickts. No, we do some players. Mark, you go first. So I have Deshaun Watson already, we all allot the quarterback with the first pick of the draft. I still like j J. Watt. Okay, all right, go deep, Okay, all right. It was a national peanut butter and jelly the other day. So because I have Deshaun Watson, I have to take DeAndre Hopkins. Because I think those two have got to go together. It's already controversial this draft. Bye bye pick two. Yes, by pick, didn't say anything about your pick, Hopkins. No, I'm not saying it's a bad pick. Oh okay, I think that I could go Andre Johnson here, but I know you guys have already gotten your first rounders, so at that point I probably could go into other rounds. And you know what, one of the best seventh round picks. And this is gonna sound weird off the bat, but I figured I'll just jump on it right away. I'm gonna go get Derek Newton in seventh round. Oh, you are so well, that's a good strategy because he knows he well unless Drew under are you gonna take I got one? Okay, you got a seventh rounder, Drew. We're snaking this, so you get a pig. Yeah? You know what, you guys, you all had some interesting choices here. I'm gonna go with the guy who wasn't even drafted. I'm gonna go the are any Foster? So how good? Oh? I thought we were gonna do those at the end. Good luck with your udfas there. I got a few, and then you're snake getting so you picked twice, which I hate the snake draft. I was voted down prior to the show, yes, three to one. Gosh what you said peanut butter and jelly earlier, Yeah, I did. I'm gonna get to protection up front, and I'm gonna go with Dwayne Brown. That's my first round, even though we're leaving Andre Johnson off the board. But who's got a heck of a draft. I didn't want to say, h e double toothpicks. No, he's he's got a good draft. I've got protection for the Shawn Watson and Derek and I get my seventh rounder there, and you know what, I'm gonna go get you guys. You guys have all taken your first rounder, so I literally I can wait to do that. So in the second round, I'm gonna take the guy who was defensive Rookie of the Year two thousand and six. I will take the Miko Ryans as my second rounder. So, dp you took a first round or any other round or a d f A, I have a couple of da So I'm gonna go. I'm gonna get my third round out of the way, okay, And I'm gonna go Justin Reid. That's a good one because the third round is slim. Third one is slim. Now, mister, don't want a snake. You now snake for two picks. Oh, I get your take right here. Yeah, you get the snake, all right. So I'm gonna go out of order like you guys. That's fine, all right, that's fine, so as you should, as I should. I'll go ahead and take A. J. Boyer as your that's a good one. I'm only I'm only allowed one udf A right, yep, you just took it. Boy, this is really brutal. Now I don't have to take a player from every round, but I can, right, I'll take Owen Daniels. Yeah, third round, fourth round. He's a fourth round pick. But this is my third round of the drug of this round. Yeah yeah, yeah you too. Oh wow, it's good pick. Yeah, it's good. It's a great pick. Thank you. It's fourth rounders, third fourth rounders. I got what O d A. J. Boyer and Deshaun Watson. I'm doing well so far. Yeah, you're pretty good. I don't pick for another half hour. So you picked the first and the fourth of year. A uh deep. It's up to you. Okay, I've picked a first rounder and a third rounder. I'm gonna go. Boy, this is thinking, thinking and talking, talking and thinking. I know I'm gonna go second round. Okay, I'm gonna go Connor Barwin. That's a good pick. Oh, I think I'm gonna go second round two. I'm not totally. No, you know what I'm gonna do. You've already gotten Demiko Ryans. Yeah, in the second round. Oh yeah, that's right. He's a second round Dang it. That leaves a really good second rounder for you guys. I'm I think I'm gonna stick with my theme of the third round, because when you started looking around a third round, you're like, so in the third round I would take third rounder. I'm gonna take Eric Winston. I was him. That's not good. My offensive line is killing you guys right now. Good. I'm winning with lines in front seven Derek New Demiko Ryan's Eric Winston. I don't worry. I still got a first rounder that I can have later on. Drew, you get the snake it, you get two. Okay, I'll go to the Oh boy first da you guys with your with your rules. I'll go to the second round. McKinney, Well, that's good. You gotta have defense. Nobody. Oh, I'm not gonna say, I was gonna was gonna say, there's a second rounder still on the board. There is, there's a good one that everyone's over. O. Yes, right in front of our face right now. Or I know another third rounder? Two? Go ahead, Drew, all right, you get to start off the other round. Got So who do you have? Now? Okay, give us your list? So here we go. So Drew has Drew has, of course to Sean Watson, as we all do, he has Arian Foster, Dwayne Brown, Bernardet McKinney, Brandon Brooks. That's pretty salty. I've got Derek Newton in the seventh, I got Eric Winston the third to me go Ryans in the second. Of course, I got Shawn Watson, dB has DeAndre Hopkins justin reading the third, Connor Barwin in the second, Mark has JJ Watton first, A J. Boyer is his UDFA and Owen Daniels it is now it's time for me. I could take my first rounder right here, because I know you guys, you know it would be a dumb strategy. You need to take him last. Yeah, and in fact, I would like Johnny invents this game and then kills everybody at it. Go ahead, Well, that's that's kind of the here's how you play, kind of the whole point. Yeah, on subset, invent, invent my game and then go with it. Uh boy, I'll tell you what. Um, Trying to find a fifth rounder is gonna be really tough. So I'm gonna take a fifth rounder right now, really really tough. Garrett Graham at tight end. Wait fourth round? On, hold on, I believe so okay, well then I wait a second Garret Graham. Yeah, oh my bad, bad fourth round. I was looking at He was picked number five that year. So you're taking your fourth rounder, which is Garret Graham. Uh yeah, I'll take my fourth rounder, which Sea Graham. That's fine, I'll take care Graham. Okay, all right, who's up tepe me. I'm gonna go fourth rounder as well. Okay. Building my defense Glover Quinn, Oh that's good, good one, that's very good. You can play him at corner safety. I'll play for a long long time. Okay, very good. So deep, you got one, two, three, fourth, You've got rounds five, six, and seven left. I've got one five and six, Drew, you have four h yeah, yeah, you have four seven, Mark, you have two three, five six seven Yeah, okay, and I go yep so wait I drafted in the third round already. Yeah, you drafted through Daniels. Oh it's a fourth round. You've drafted a first, a fourth, and a yeah. So I'm saying you have a second rounder to get a third rounder to get all right, I'm gonna take I'm gonna take Dominic Davis, okay, known now as Dominic Williams if he's known. No, you can't. He was a fourth rounder. Oh, he was a fourth rounder. Give me Steve Sleigh ride Slaton. Okay, you have to sing, you have to sing his name, and you're sanding the ball to Steve's late ton. Okay, yes, what else so you get to snake it back? You are a second rounder. You need a second rounder, a fifth rounder, a sixth rounder. I'm gonna take it all lineman in the second round, and I'm gonna take a guy who's gonna play for me for a long time and he's gonna be really good on a good team, and that would be Chester Pitts. Oh boom. All of our second round picks are off the board and nobody took Zach Cuttingham. Oh he was on my list, on your list, but not in your draft. Not in my draft. Okay, so Mark, you still have a fifth, sixth, and the seventh to get DP. It's you. You have a fifth, a sixth, seventh, and a UDFA. I'm gonna go round six. Jordan Thomas, Okay, Oh that's pretty good. It's good in the sixth all right, it's up to me and my I like my fifth rounder here. Because you start looking at fifth rounders, you guys are gonna be stuck. I am four to five my defensive line. Oh, dj Reader in the fifth round? Yea fifth rounders, people, that's what I thought you were doing the last time around. I should have taken well first. I don't know. When I looked at that draft for some reason to weigh the thing in front of me, it said six next to his name. But he's the sixth pick. There's just not even a lot of fifth round picks I know in history. So good, you guys have a fourth, right, yeah, so I'm gonna yeah, but when do we when we get to seven players? We stop right now because the UDFA makes eight. I'm gonna take uh sixth rounder Christian Covington, okay, and seventh rounder Andre Hell whoa all right, so, Drew, you have two four six, so you have take a fifth and a fourth. You have fourth and a fifth. Okay, it's back to me. I am saving my uh first rounder. I hate the snake draft the record saying this is not fair. Why is the snake so bothers me? I can't keep track of all this stuff? All right, go ahead, It shouldn't bother you that badly, Go ahead. I would think I would think not So I need Let's see, I've got two, three, five, and I need a sixth. Oh, you know what, I'm gonna take my UDFA right now. I'm gonna take my take Daling Cole. That's so good of one. Still a very good UDFA on the board. Okay, who's up next? Deep? Oh you know what? You know what I wasn't thinking about. We're specialists, that were Yes, that's he's already. He's already taken him. Now, so I need my first and a six Yeah, I need my first and a sixth. I know my first is. I know that that's easy. That's that's very easy. Deep. You need a fifth, a seventh in Yeah, I think, Mark, you get ready to snake. I'm gonna go my seventh round because you guys have done your DFAs right, I'm gonna go seventh round. One of Johnny's favorite interviews, David Anderson. Yeah darn it, yes, darn it. I'm running out of people. I mean, I'm gonna dorin Dickerson here in a minute. I mean, you've got a good draft going though. The fifth round fifth is really easy. Watcha who has cut it off the board here any minute? He just kidding? I am I up now, Yes, I see a fifth rounder you could take way Wait, what do I need a seventh? You have a tight end already? All right, Mark, you have a first, first, second, and third, fourth. You need a fifth, a sixth and the seventh. I mean really like like I could take I could take Randy Bullock. But is that really going to do me any good? At this point? He is, he's still in the league. Though. There's there's a fifth rounder, uh minutes, fifth rounder in twenty eleven. There are a few there are few ways you could go here. Yeah, yeah, I know, I know. Look I could take t J. Yates, But do I really need a backup quarterback in this draft. I will lose this draft if I take a backup quarterback. I'm gonna go with James Casey because because he could he could play tight end, fullback, he could do with some different things. He could help coach as he's doing now at the University of Houston Left. I saw him at both pro days. I need a seventh too, so you need a six and the seventh. So I took my fifth. I need a sixth, and I said, oh my gosh, how about if I take this guy actually helped the Texans win some games. Wait, anybody got Zach Dials? Nope, I'll take Zack downs league for a while. He was in the league for a while. Okay, I don't want to take CC Brown here. Okay, don't want it. You're gonna be got your two snake picks. You took James Casey and the fifth. Feel like you got a six round or left. You'll be the last you get to pick mister irrelevant in the sixth round. So figure out who that's gonna be. Okay, I got it, got it, Mark Mark took my fifth round picked. Uh, you need a fifth in a UDFA, all right, I'm gonna go fifth. I'll go Sharloko. He's still available right play some special teams. I mean he was part of a couple of good teams. He was a special teams captain. Will he'll do great in JJ Watt's charity classics. I'm really thinking ahead here, So I need a first in a sixth. I feel like the six rounds had a few players over the not too many. I don't know one guy who really in twenty eleven stepped up and he ended up playing the nickel a little bit. I'm gonna take Bryce McCain. I was gonna take him earlier. I should have done it, but I had to burn up some of those other rounds. Yeah, so I took Bryce McCain in the sixth drew these year final two picks. You need a fourth rounder and a fifth rounder, all right, I'm gonna use my fourth on Ben Jones and keep strengthening that line. Okay, and boy, fifth round. The fifth is tough. It's really trick. You gotta be ready. Here are the fifth rounders that have been taken. James Casey by Mark Im. I'm just gonna keep things fun because he's the guy that won the first playoff game in team history. He was awesome on Connor Barwin's summer pool volleyball team during the lockout of twenty eleven, and he's now an assistant coach. He's a great guy. He's been with the team four different times. I think as a quarterback, TJ. Yates is on my team. All right. My mister irrelevant is my first rounder, Andre Johnson. So I waited till the very end. Is gonna be on the board. Incredible. So there you go, so deep, I'm done deep, you have got I just undrafted, which there's a ton left. I'm gonna go Trevor Daniel, the guy that beat out Shane Leckler in camp. Oh you went with Trevor Daniel over Cainey fair Man over Briell Did anybody takes? Yeah, there were a few unfas on the board. I was not I was not concerned. Mark. Mister irrelevant for this draft is sixth rounder. I could take Drew Henson and trade him for a pick, but I'm not gonna do it. I'm gonna take because I'm not take. Nobody's drafting, nobody's trading for Drew Henson in this draft. I'm gonna take somebody who's on one of the more iconic photos in the history of the Houston Texans, which is in Battle Red Pete Fagin standing on the up not the upright, the little ledge there in front of the bullpen section after a celebration. And it's a tremendous photo that Jamie roots because it just paints a whole picture of a player and fan together in harmony, in celebration. The home field advantage team captain here is Fagans. Your draft in by round order, not the way you select him, but in round order. Mark you went JJ Watton. The first, you went Chester Pits in the second, Steve Slayton the third, when Daniels in the fourth, James Casey and the fifth, Pete Fagins in the six, Zach Diles and the seventh and A J. Boyer. Where's your UDFA? Not too bad? I remember we all get Deshaun Watson DP. You have DeAndre Hopkins and the first you went Connor Barbwin in the second, Justin Read in the third, Glover Quinn in the fourth, you went shadow k On, the fifth, Jordan Thomas and the sixth, David Anderson. The seventh and your UDFA was a punter, Trevor Daniel. I went Andre Johnson. The first I took him last come by bertrue of the game, Andre Johnson. The first Demko Ryans and the second Eric Winston, the third Derek Graham, and the fourth DJ Reader. In the fifth, I kicked all y'all with that Bryce McCain. In the sixth and the seventh, I went Derek Newton. He was my first pick, and my UNFA was Den Dylan Cole Drew went Dwayne Brown. The first but Ardrick McKinney, the second Brandon Brooks, and the third Ben Jones, and the fourth t J Yates going the second quarterback in the fifth and the sixth, he went with Christian Covington. The seventh was Andrea Howe, and his UDFA was Arian Foster. Johnny's the winner. You can't wait with a punter, dB, and you can't wait as well. The greatest offensive lineman and teams offensive lineman. I'm just talking too. I've got Deshaun and DeAndre Mark. I'm not really worried about it. So here's something. Here's something that we left off our draft boards only because we couldn't pick more than one player per round and there's four Maria Williams, Zat, Mario Williams, Zack Cunningham, uh will Fuller, Deonta Foreman, Clowney, Dante Robinson, Sederal Clowney, uh Alfred Blue. I'm just hitting them all. R. Ryan Griffin would have been a great sixth rounder for somebody, but you already had two tight ends. I'm going heavy. Earl Mitchell in the third round would have been good. Oh, Ben Tate in the second round would have been solid, even though I thought the second round was pretty good. Jacoby Jones and the third you could have gone with um, Well, you know what, we weren't really preparing for that, Johnny, were preparing for like just a normal draft kind of change the rule change. The rules explained it, but not very well if somebody moved him for a pick. But we just read draft downstairs, it during Texans All Access. That's it. That's it. That's what we did. Nice job, people appreciate it. Thanks Johnny. That was really fun and I won yet again. I mean, come on, look at my team, as I just mentioned, Andre Johnson, the first, Jamiko Ryans and the second, Eric Winston, the third g Graham and the ford. Did you reader in the fifth. Bryce mckame six, They're Gon seventh doing Cole as my undrafted free attion. I won that. I totally won that. Now someone will say it was my idea, so I was going to win. But yeah, so be it, deal with it. Big thanks to Mark, to Deep, to Drew for stopping by, Drew for stepping by for in the lab. Big thanks to you guys for listening. Thank you so much.
