What if gossip isn't simply a problem with our words?
In Ephesians 4, Paul uses the Greek word sapros to describe corrupt speech—something rotten, decayed, spoiled and unfit for use. Then, one verse later, we read: “Do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God.”
That changes the conversation.
In this episode of Scripture Adventures, we're digging into gossip, slander, the conversations we call “venting,” the stories we willingly listen to, the offenses we pick up that were never ours to carry, and what all of it can reveal about what's taking root in our hearts.
We'll look at gossip as choice food, the wood that keeps a fire burning, rotten speech, bitter fruit, and what obedience looks like when God's Word confronts something in us—with a little wisdom from my Grandma woven in along the way.
Because before we speak, listen, repeat the story, send the text or make the phone call, maybe there's a better question to ask: Will this please the Holy Spirit—or grieve Him?
