Speaker 1: Ricky Lee and Tim on nov I'm just I'm just panicking because I had all my questions for season three of Colm from account Stradia, but apparently we have to talk to Patry Ramo about Devil was part.
00:00:09
Speaker 2: Of too Welcome. Thank You, Thank you, I've worn I've worn my devil words prout of red. It's beautiful. You really great. You look fantastic. Fresh from the premiere last night. Well, I wouldn't say fresh. I am from the premiere last night. Yes, yes, yes, that was me. Yeah, you're in a suit. You look sharp? Is this how is this? Is this your usual? Or is this his life? For me? Now? Guys, it's only suits and make up every day, every morning before Harry wakes up. I like to get a full face of makeup just so she doesn't see me, you know. Any less than that, where's the role? Eggs? Because I've heard about the roller, you heard about the rolex. What are you wearing? I'm rapping at Cartier this morning. Oh okay, I don't mind it. I don't mind the woman, but I don't BALI that. Yeah, Barley mate, I know how it's done. Yeah. No, I thought I was getting a roller because I wear one in the movie, and every day they would come and take it and put it in the safe, and I was like, this is a I'm wearing a Rolllex. And then so as the shot was coming to an end, I was like, could I buy this? Would you sell this to me? What's it worth? I thought, maybe I get a deal. I don't know. And the last one it's used, it's pretty exactly, it's pretty owned. And then and they came to in the final day and said, yeah, we're going to sell it to you. And I said, amazing, how much? And they said five hundred dollars. That's very cheap. And yeah, because it's a fake. But why were they putting it in this set? They didn't know. They didn't have a clue that it was a fake until they got it a praised And yeah, so now I have a fake Rolllex but a decent story. Good story.
00:01:37
Speaker 3: Wait, they only got it a praised after you asked to buy it.
00:01:41
Speaker 2: I guess. So unless they were pretending to put it in a safe every day, like if I fall down that rabbit hole, why the lies?
00:01:47
Speaker 3: Yeah?
00:01:47
Speaker 2: What else are they lying about it?
00:01:48
Speaker 3: Yeah?
00:01:48
Speaker 2: What else? I mean?
00:01:50
Speaker 3: This is such a huge juggernaut of a film. I know you've you've worked on some incredible projects, but this is such a huge, huge juggernaut. Was that different to anything you've worked on before?
00:02:02
Speaker 2: And even this process, I think this process is the is the weird bit selling it? Yeah, this is like it needs selling, Like no one needs me to tell them to go see the movie. The doing of it was like pretty normal as normal goes when you're working opposite you know, massive movie starff. So that was really my biggest job was like just trying to relax. I'm working with you know, Ann Hathaway's my girlfriend. No worries easy to me, mate, No, she said, call me Annie, And I was like, if you insist, is it true that she was a Colm from Accounts fan? Is that what happened? Because you hear a lot of stories about she did she has She didn't know about it initially, and then I came to work one day she went, I saw the first episode. Okay, it's really good. Okay, there, thank you. Because Stanley was a fan of it. Stanley in fact, someone told me a couple of years ago. Stanley wrote about it in This is Tucci By the way, the Church.
00:02:52
Speaker 3: I'm a bit off the teach because he said that you're not supposed to wear athletic clothes outside of the gym, and that's just my whole wardrobe.
00:02:58
Speaker 2: Well, his character said that I don't think he subscribed to that. I can't speak for the two, but the Tooch loves the show tourch loves Colm from accounts and he wrote about it in his in a book that he wrote, you know where he keeps this sort of a diary and he mentions it. And someone told me about that, and so I bought the book for Harry for Christmas. This is a couple of years ago, and I said, turn the page two fifty six or whatever it was, and I underlined it. And then so when I met him on set, I was like, hey, he's going to know who I am. And I walked up and I went, Hi, I'm Patty and he goes, hey, good to meet you. And I was like, this guy has no idea who I am. And I said, I was like, I got to do something here otherwise this is going to get awkward. And so I said, I'm just such a big fan of your work. And I read your book and said, oh, thank you, thank you. And I said and and I love your taste because you love my show calm from accounts. And then the recognition came to his face. He's, oh my god. I was like, great, we're mates. Now, that's perfect. You don't really talk him into it, but I had to really convince him to be my friend, at least for a day or so. Lead the horse to order. I love it. Yeah.
00:03:52
Speaker 3: Is it true that you initially turned this movie down?
00:03:55
Speaker 2: You said no, I said no to the audition for the baby, Okay, okay. And then we need to be clear about the distinction because if anyone offered, and they did offer it to me, obviously I said right, okay.
00:04:04
Speaker 1: So and you'll assume when there's a role like this, there's hundreds of people auditions, if not millions.
00:04:10
Speaker 2: I don't know how many guys had to fall over for me to Stephen Bradbury my way into this film. He's like an iPhone thing the auditions these days, or do you actually go and see any actor listening will know like you, they ask for self tape, So you set up your phone or if you've got something slightly fancier and yeah, and you set up your lighting and you try and get it all right and you spend half a day trying to get this thing right, You send off the tape and then you never hear back. I mean ninety nine percent of the time you hear nothing. It's not like people call and go, great tape, We're going a different way. You just hear nothing. You don't get a part on the back around. And so when they said, you know, have an audition, I was like, that's so lovely to be invited to do this. No one's going to give me this role, So I'm not going to waste my time because I really genuinely was busy working on something else and being a dad to two kids. And then and it turns out that was the best ployer I could have used. Why do use of an iPhone? Yeah? I didn't use it as a ploy at all. But a week later I don't know that, I don't know, several other guys died or something. And then they called they called me. An offered to me straight up, what do you.
00:05:11
Speaker 3: Do in the self tape when you when you when you are doing that for you know it's for this film?
00:05:16
Speaker 2: What what? What? What is that self tap? I never did the self tape. I never did it. I never put it down. Yeah, I never did it after you said I said no, because I and they just came back with an offer.
00:05:30
Speaker 3: I know, I know it's mental Bradby, He's just that is just unbelievable, it really is.
00:05:43
Speaker 2: Yeah, I got the text from the director saying I didn't have his number. Actually, what happened was I got after I said no, and I felt good about it, got on with life, and then I got a text from mutual friend in the States who's whose dear friend is the writer of the film, and she said, hey, Aleen really loved you, and so does direct. They really like, you know, pass Can I pass on your number? And I said, of course you could pass on my number. And then I heard nothing for a week and I was like, damn it. I already said no this on my own terms, and he made me want it. I hate you all. And then I just got a text out of nowhere saying please please do it.
00:06:16
Speaker 1: How is how was the first day of shooting this film different to the first day of shooting Colin from Accounts?
00:06:22
Speaker 2: Very similar? Well, in Colin from Accounts, we filmed that in New York and we had several hundred people watching on the street Yeah, that was a mental Yeah. Yeah, it was was pretty weird. First day that I'm there with Annie and there's all these people watching with phones. Was the mcgala or was it meant to be the met Gala? No, it wasn't the met gal The first day actually was a scene that was cut from the movie, but when I filmed it, it was all over the internet. It was like us walking down the street together and her in this blue She's in that beautiful smotly blue dress. Yeah. So that was a scene that was cut from the film. It's just us walking down the street.
00:06:54
Speaker 3: Oh got I got so excited when I saw that. That was like, that was a full pearl clutching.
00:06:59
Speaker 2: You don't even pearl. Yeah, but so that was cut. Oh my gosh.
00:07:05
Speaker 3: And that was your first day on set, first down on set and you've got all these people watching.
00:07:09
Speaker 1: Yeah, like what so that means that you are you one of these actors now that have to just like separate your time now between the US and here.
00:07:18
Speaker 2: Or been doing that for nine years? Yeah already. Like Parry and I are based in la which is crazy to say, and we're going to try and buy a place in Sydney because we got ex expensive here. You know, the market in Sydney is mental.
00:07:30
Speaker 1: I heard someone describe La Though as Paramatta Road with palm trees.
00:07:33
Speaker 2: Oh that's pretty good. That's pretty good. And I'll tell you what. They planted all the palm trees at the same time decades ago, so when they die, the whole landscape for Vala is going to be like, what are we going to do with it? We need some more palm trees, guys. We still got the paramotuter road vibe.
00:07:48
Speaker 1: So tell us about season three of Colum from accounts because you've wrapped.
00:07:51
Speaker 2: We wrapped, so when's it out?
00:07:52
Speaker 1: Week and a half ago, I rewatched this series with my lovely lady at home again and it's just one of my favorite shows, and mainly because I live in the area.
00:08:00
Speaker 2: So just even watching it with the soundown's great. It's like know that place story cafe. Yeah, it's coming out. It'll come out later this year. I don't know. We're about to go onto the edit for it, but we're pretty happy. We're very is Lady Gaga making a cameo or I can't say definitely, they're all coming in. They're all insisted.
00:08:21
Speaker 3: I mean, are you you work with your wife on this and it's just like I work with my husband and it's hard. But people don't quite understand the dynamic of working with your partner.
00:08:33
Speaker 2: How do you, guys go? How do you describe it? I just I just.
00:08:36
Speaker 3: Think it's like we are we balance each other out so incredibly. Well, what I'm good at, he's not so good at, and what what he's great at are my weaknesses and I think that that is our strength.
00:08:46
Speaker 2: Yeah, I would like to describe us that way, but Harry is stronger at pretty much everything. Yeah, that's long for the ride. I follow her around. No, it's it's it's awesome, it's the best. It's like, but it never ends. Well, you know, it's we'll wake up in the middle of the night and have a have a thought about one of the scenes or you know. But that's also part of why the show works because we're always on it and it's so bespoke, it's so our point of view, you know what I mean, And that's why we can't do it forever as well. Like it's it's it takes a lot out of us, but also it's a joy, like we do love working together.
00:09:20
Speaker 3: Yeah, but do you have to put like rules around because I know that we do, because that would happen with us. We would wake up in the middle of the night and to start talking.
00:09:27
Speaker 2: Rules, like you're not filming my audition for me? Yeah, yeah, yeah.
00:09:30
Speaker 3: She would never It gets in the way sometimes of life and fun. It does because you're just like, hey, okay, actually yeah, and there's just all it's the cogs are always.
00:09:42
Speaker 2: Turning, always turning. I think season one, we're so excited to be making anything that we were just kind of full bore. And then season two like, Okay, we're gonna put some things in place here, and she was much better at that than me. She'd be like, when we're home, we're not talking about it. We're just doing dinner, We're just doing whatever. And then I think we were just communicating telepathically. By season we really understand how we work. Now we don't have to say anything the Daggers the Dagger.
00:10:04
Speaker 1: Yes, well, we don't want to be condescending, but we are very proud of you. It's lovely to see you up on the big screen. The Devil was prior to two is in cinemas tomorrow. Go see at Patrick Bramle absolute pleasure. Thanks for coming in for me too, Thanks guys, Ricky
00:10:16
Speaker 2: Lee and Tim only on over
