Texans Offensive Line Overhaul: Why Ed Ingram Might Be The KEY To It All + Too Early Roster Cuts

On today’s episode of Locked On Texans, we’re asking a BIG question about Houston’s offensive line:

Yes, the Texans added new pieces. Yes, everyone loves the new and shiny toys…

But if Houston is truly going to get over the hump in 2026, how much will the FAMILIAR faces matter?

We’ve spent a lot of time talking about making David Montgomery comfortable in Houston — and one thing is clear: Montgomery thrives between the tackles.

That’s been one of the biggest strengths of his game dating back to Detroit.

So who becomes the tone-setter up front?

👀 Enter Ed Ingram.

Ingram quietly became Houston’s BEST run-blocking offensive lineman in 2025, and the numbers back it up:

📈 Texans backs averaged 4.9 yards per carry running behind him
📈 Strong second-level blocking
📈 Consistent movement in the run game

And honestly? The eye test backed it too.

If Houston wants to maximize Montgomery’s downhill style and recreate some of the things that made him successful in Detroit, Ingram has to continue trending upward in 2026.

We discuss:
🏈 Why Ed Ingram should be the leader in those OL meetings
🏈 How he can help establish Houston’s offensive identity
🏈 Why the familiar faces on the OL may matter just as much as the new additions
🏈 How Houston can create better inside running lanes for Montgomery

PLUS — it may be way too early, but let’s talk Texans roster projections.

Bleacher Report has Houston potentially moving on from Jake Andrews…

What would that actually say about the offensive line room?

💰 Jake Andrews + Jarrett Patterson cuts could save Houston nearly $7 million
🧩 With versatile OL additions in the building, does Nick Caserio prioritize flexibility again?
👀 Who’s IN and who’s OUT on this offensive line?

And finally — my favorite part of the offseason:

New coaches. Smart, logical roster moves. Scheme fits. Development plans.

This is the time of year where championship-level teams quietly build the foundation for what’s next… and the Texans may be doing exactly that.
