How to make progressive trance like Above & Beyond and Armin van Buuren from scratch, in real time, in Logic Pro X. This is a special episode. Massive thanks to the Focusrite Group, Adam Audio and Novation for hooking up the studio with a brand new setup that I'm running for the very first time on camera. New Adam Audio A8H monitors, Adam Audio H200 headphones, a Novation Launchkey 61 MK4 and a Focusrite Scarlett 18i20 interface. The difference on the mixes was immediate, so I put it all to work building an old school flavored progressive trance track at 130 BPM, the kind of uplifting, Anjunabeats style progressive trance I fell in love with back in 2001.In Live Electronic Music Tutorial 375 we start from the drums, add a side chained chord stab, hunt for the right bass, layer an Anjuna pad melody, drop arps, and bring in piano and Serum 2 for the big moment. If you want to learn how to produce progressive trance, uplifting trance or melodic trance with a classic yet modern edge, this episode walks you through the whole flow live.🎧 Inspired by: Above & Beyond, Armin van Buuren (also: Anjunabeats, Andrew Bayer)🎛️ Made with: Logic Pro X, Serum 2, Drum Machine Designer🎹 Grab the template used in this episode for just $10:https://www.wemakedancemusic.com/en/progressive-trance-logic-pro-x-template-live-electronic-music-375-12-1784804254Open it in Logic Pro and reverse engineer every drum, bass, pad and arp I build here.GEAR USED IN THIS EPISODE🔊 Adam Audio A8H monitors: https://www.adam-audio.com/en/a-series/a8h/🎧 Adam Audio H200 headphones: https://www.adam-audio.com/en/headphones/h200/🎹 Novation Launchkey 61 MK4: https://us.novationmusic.com/products/launchkey-61🎛️ Focusrite Scarlett 18i20: https://us.focusrite.com/products/scarlett-18i20🎁 Novation Playm): https://downloads.novationmusic.com/novation/launchkey-mk4In this progressive trance production tutorial you will learn how to:Start a track from the drums and build a solid foundation firstTune your kick and snare in key with Drum Machine DesignerProgram simple, effective progressive trance drum grooves and fillsTrigger clean chords and side chain them for that pumping trance feelShop for and shape the right bass under the chordsLayer an Anjuna style pad as a lead melodyAdd arps for movement and dimensionBring in piano and Serum 2 for the big emotional payoffKeep it loose and human instead of rigidly quantizedCHAPTERS (times approximate, adjust to your final upload)00:00 Intro and the new Focusrite / Adam Audio / Novation gear03:00 Starting progressive trance at 130 BPM04:00 Building the drums (kick and snare in key)07:00 Hats, claps and a groovy perc10:00 Triggering chords with Play and side chaining14:00 Shopping for the bass20:00 Layering the pad under the bass23:00 The Anjuna pad lead melody27:00 Adding arps for dimension33:00 Naming and organizing the session36:00 Piano and Serum 2 for the big moment41:00 Wrap up and what happens nextLINKS🎛️ Templates and sound packs: https://www.logictemplates.com🌐 We Make Dance Music: https://www.wemakedancemusic.com🚀 The wmdm.io platform: https://wmdm.io#ProgressiveTrance #AboveAndBeyond #ArminVanBuuren #Anjunabeats #AndrewBayer #LogicProX #MusicProduction #ElectronicMusicTutorial #LiveElectronicMusic #AdamAudio #Novation #FocusriteMay the Songs Be With You!
