Sometimes the moment that breaks you is also the moment that sets you on a new path. In this episode, Candice Ruggiero speaks with Kathryne Savage Imabayashi about trusting your instincts, embracing change, and finding meaning in life’s defining moments. Kathryne shares how an unexpected inner calling led her from Canada to Japan—a decision that changed the course of her life. She and Candice reflect on sensitivity, intuition, resilience, and the courage it takes to move forward when life doesn’t follow the plan. Their conversation is a reminder that we may not understand a difficult experience while we’re in it, but staying curious and open can help us grow through it. Kathryne is a parenting educator, coach, author, and speaker with more than 40 years of experience in international education, including school leadership and curriculum development across multiple countries.
As the founder of Sonhood Coaching, she helps parents understand the emotional drivers behind their children’s behavior, with a particular focus on raising boys. She is the author of Raising Boys Who Become Remarkable Men and Will My Son Become a Good Man?, based on interviews with ten men reflecting on their boyhoods. She also hosts the podcast Unlocking the Parenting Code: All About Boys. Tune in for a thoughtful conversation about trusting yourself, navigating change, and continuing to grow—even when the next chapter looks nothing like the one you planned.
